Love this place. Courteous service, great, straightforward diner food. Very comforting and my go-to place if i want a heavier lunch out. Bathroom was clean. Prices are more than reasonable (although at first glance through the menu, the salads look a little overpriced) for almost everything.
This diner is very pretty and looks brand new. the staff is very great and nice. they made us feel welcome. my son loves it he had a great time here. with his kids meal he got a donut. he was so happy the waiter even talked with him and made my son happy too. the food was amazing. it was very good. they have great prices. we needed something new in the neighborhood and this was perfect. they have restrooms and seating available. they have table service and high chairs. I will come back here again.
The food at capitol diner was amazing and the service was spectacular They were kind and attentive. I had French toast with fresh berries and wiped creamalong with two over easy eggs. The French toast was moist and perfect in flavor. The eggs were on point. Will definitely go again this is now my and my kids favorite place to get comfort food
Had the meatloaf lunch special. It was seasoned well. The mashed potatoes were made from real potatoes. The side of green beans looked and tasted fresh. I was pleasantly surprised. I ate the entire plate. This little store front diner has some delish dishes! I definitely recommend this small, modern, stylish, cozy spot. Comfortable for one or more.
Didnt have a great experience eating here. The food was okay, but the service is what made it bad for me and my fiance as we ate. Took us a long time before we got a menu and before we were able to place an order. And after receiving our food, within a few minutes we were given the bill for our food.We didnt get any attention and was consistantly ignored when we needed something. Cant help but wonder many reasons why, especially when white customers that were eating were receiving good service and not being ignored.
Partner’s croissant egg and cheese was fine, croissant was a little doughey. Not the best $6 breakfast sandwich, I’ve had better at a bodega. However, the French toast was foul. Idk what kind of butter they used but the bread was yellow and greasy, they put no powdered sugar on it as I requested instead of maple syrup, and to top it off it was $11. Disappointed.
My spouse & I were curious about trying the food here. Unfortunately, we never had the chance because we left before being seated. The man who greeted us was outrageously nasty with my spouse who has a disability. Then he refused to give us seats. Even more disturbing was the behavior of the seated patrons. Who seemed to support discrimination. We never went back here again after this horrible incident. We reported this diner for a violation of the ADA. I hope that justice prevails.
Just moved to the neighborhood and went to Capitol Sunday afternoon. It was pretty full but I was by myself so it was easy to sit me. I kept it basic, Turkey sausage omelette platter. Everything was good, not much of a homefries guy but they were good. Service was on point. They didnt rush me and made sure I needed for nothing. Will definitely go back. Thank you for the great experience Capital!
Great melding of an old-school diner with some modern updates. On walking in it feels like youre entering a place thats been there for 60 years but also just opened. It seems like they took an old place and updated it in just the right places, so it still feels nostalgic but not out of date. The best part, though, was that the food was quick to the table and delicious. The breakfast burrito i had was cooked perfectly, not greasy, and complimented with the best home fries ive had in manhattan. Definitely coming back for more.
Love the Capitol Diner. No fuss. No muss. Just straight up awesome food, excellent service, great neighborhood vibe. The Bacon Cheeseburger Deluxe [medium] with Vanilla shake is my mainstay, but go in one day and try the Roumanian Steak. Best item on the menu. Grilled cheese/tomato soup is on point. Oh- It doesnt hurt that theyll have the Mets game on!
You do what you gotta do this is the communication from this small business when they made a mistake. When you receive an order from uber (as a restaurant) as soon as you know you cant meet a demand, youre supposed to cancel the order and call the customer. Its called being proactive. Instead, this restaurant called after the order was cooked with only 2 items out of the 3 to say i cant do anything on my end so contact uber and as im explaining what the course of action should have been and vocalizing that uber will not be able to help me post delivery since with the covid crisis they have not been implementing refunds they say well you do what you gotta do You own a small business where community patrons want to support and you speak to them in this tone...does not make for a savvy business strategy

2022-05-02This is a hidden gem! The exterior of the restaurant is not very appealing but the interior is designed very nicely. It’s very clean and has a cozy vibe. The customer service is nice but the food is what earns this place five stars. This is NOT your average diner food. The Greek waffle is a must to order!!! Very happy with this place!

2022-01-30My husband and I always order breakfast from this place every weekend, but today we decided to go in person. I have to say that Ana Maria provided us with an AMAZING customer service👌🏼! She was helping out every single table in this place, but she was proving excellent customer service to every single one of her customers. In regards to the food here, it is very good and affordable. The coffee here is just one of the best for me. I strongly recommend this place, not only because of the good food, but also for the great customer service you get! Also a shout out to Antonio who always take our orders on the weekends and is also very friendly and great worker! Great job Capitol Diner !!! My husband and I appreciate your hard work!!!!

2022-03-23Filling diner food. If youre eating in person, things come PIPPING hot. :) The waiters are also very attentive and will fill your water immediately. Theyll even make me a hot chocolate with a shot of espresso. Ordered in one time for a lazy girls day brunch, and there was just SO MUCH FOOD. :D

2019-12-07Pleasant atmosphere and staff. The portions are generous for the price. We mostly ordered the typical diner breakfast items as we had a craving for them. I definitely recommend this place if youre in the mood for good diner food. May have some wait during busy times.

2019-09-22A delicious remake of an old favorite! The new Capital Diner is a clean, charming, high-quality restaurant that serves yummy homemade food at reasonable prices. You wont find the pageantry of brunch or designer cocktails here, just fluffy pancakes to die for; salads bursting with fresh, crunchy veggies; and hands down, the crunchiest, tastiest French fries in Inwood, maybe in the city. The prices are low to moderate, which belies the quality of the food. They could charge more. They just dont. Stop by and welcome these peeps to the neighborhood by ordering yourself a short stack. You wont be sorry.

2019-12-01This dinner became our favorite go-to spot for a lazy Sunday morning breakfast. Everyone here shows up in sweats so it’s super casual and comfy! The food is SO GOOD! Tried a bunch of options like their Californian egg omelette, Texan burger and eggs Benedict with hollandaise. Never disappointed! The coffee is good, the staff is super friendly and the prices are very modest for what it is!I guess my wife and I will be eating here every week from now on!

A diner.Postscript. Ive been back many times since first posting this review. The Capitol is consistently fresh and friendly. Perfect turkey clubs.

2019-10-20This diner has changed its face and its owner recently. I never visited the old diner, but we decided to check out the brand new diner. The inside is very bright, clean, and cozy. They had some baked goods on the counter, such as muffins and bagels. We didn’t try them, but they looked pretty good.I tried their Banana Smoothie. It was very thick and totally banana-y. Came in a plastic cup, which was kind of funny, no frills here. Tasty! We were there for brunch, and their menu is quite large! It took me a few minutes to decide what to get. I went with Pancakes Decker - layered with Greek yogurt, blueberries, strawberries, & topped with honey. Now, the actual Pancake Decker looked very different from what was shown on their menu… It didn’t come with honey either. The pancakes were fluffy, and the berries were ripe and sweet, which was great. Even though it didn’t live up to the photo, it was still a tasty dish.My hubby went with Monte Cristo. It was a bit smaller than expected, but still a nice size. It was very tasty, nice flavor and seasoning on the meat. It didn’t look like much, but we enjoyed it. I would like to go back to try some other items on their menu, but not based on the photos off the menu...LOL.
