Had breakfast here. Place was very clean. The waitress was patient and attentive to my girlfriend and I. The food was prepared in a timely matter and was very fresh! I had 3 fried eggs, fried cheese bread and tostones! She had scrambled eggs,with peppers, onions and ham. Also yuca with fresh red onions! They were busy that early as well. We would definitely eat here again. This was actually my second visit. The first trip was for authentic Spanish coffee and some bread! Very tasty to say the least. Garcias!
Ok restaurant with lots of room for improvement that can eventually be a victim of the area of transformations due to been molded to just latin/Dominican clients.
First time eating here and they forgot something I ordered. I told them about it and they kept implying that they put it in the bag and I should go check the bag again. I explained I know the difference between 1 and 2. They then asked the kitchen person who confirmed there was only 1 empanada in the bag. They apologized but only after telling me 5 times to recheck the bag. Plus the food is disgusting at least in my opinion.
Low rating due mostly to terrible customer service after the original owner past away. More than once they got it wrong in simple things like my coffee and I order often and always the same, those ladies forget your order in a second. I mostly order the ham/cheese sandwich, good priced and fresh $5.
My third time there today. Initially visited the place for work. Was impressed with how clean their basement was. Floors were spotless, no odors, fridges organized and neat. A lot cleaner than the fanciest restaurant in town. Thats a place I would like to eat. The young lady(the owner) was very pulite, showed me everything I needed to see and than went upstairs where I ordered some food. You could see it was different from other places. Workers were well trained and professional. That young lady is very skilled and she rans a tight ship there. The food was fresh and very tasty and very reasonably priced. They have a nice dining room on the back for families. A true gem that place.Had a chance to back today. As always they make you feel welcome at the door. Took care of me quickly as I had to run.I think I gave enough reason for the well deserved 5 stars. Till next time.
Went to get an order of a whole chicken with white rice. Another order of pernil alone. The pernil was hard , oily and dry. Looked like it was made last night and the chicken was dry and burnt too. The only thing that was good out of this order is the papaya shake and the white rice. Not even the potatoe salad was good. It tasted sour. last time Im ever going there just lost $35! Cause I threw it all away! Never again Im going back and it was my favorite spot. Not no more!
Since the previous owner passed away, I continued to visit this place. The workers are always friendly and courteous. I go there almost every night after work. Tonight after meeting the manager from the daytime, I will never go back there again. Shes absolutely unprofessional, and has no idea what customer service is. I have worked retail for 6 years and now work in a salon (Japanese), so I know what good service is. The thing that got me is that I wasnt the only one she was so rude to. Another customer came in to complain about getting his delivery more than an hour late and missing items from his order. He also stated he will never return. I even spoke to all the employees and asked them if its true or not that I am there almost daily. I feel bad for the staff that has to work with a person who feels they can bs their way into an apology. On the lookout for a new favorite restaurant. Please be aware, one person can change the course of the business. She lost 2 customers today. Actually, 5, since no one in my household will be ordering or visiting there in the future either.
Worst pernil Ive ever had. Should be seasoned, moist and shredded. Instead they served me three big pieces the size of jumbo meatballs, dry and unseasoned. I didnt know pernil could be that bad. Let them know, paid, tipped the ladies well and left.
DISHONEST PLACEOrdered a whole chicken, when I got home, I was missing some pieces. This is not the first time this happened. The tostones were horrible, full of oil and the majarete, has harina instad of being made 100% from corn. Done going to this place.Pedí un pollo, le faltaron varias pieces, y no es la primera vez. Los plátanos fritos, enchubao de aceite. Horrible!
Terrible bruh, i was in there for 1 hour just for them to tell me there was no pepper steak available. didn’t get my drink until 30 mins after. it was a big group of us not gon lie, but come on that’s ridiculous
Excellent Mommas Latin food. They have a vast selection of food based on the types of meat whether its chicken, beef, fish, goat etc. And offer different menu items based on the day of the week.And you should try their juices & shakes. I had papaya shake. Where else do you get that.What about the passionfruit juice. Its out of this world.And the ladies are cute too.

Capri is one of the best Latin restaurant in Washington heights and the food doesnt cost much sometimes you think you are full bot once you get home you feel like eating more then you think to your self and you say I should come here more often

The one thing you can ask for in any food environment is fast and efficient service, these employees have mastered great service, from the greeting acknowledgement the second you walk in up until youre hunger is satisfied, i highly recommend this place they will literally make you any spanish dish you request with a smile!

I just pay $5 for a piece of rotten flan. I cant believe a restaurant would serve something like that and charge so much for it. It was bitter and tasted like egg gone bad.
We ordered 2 combos, one of chicken pork rinds and the other of steak and they only sent 2 pieces and charged too much for that order. We called and the treatment was fatal, they dont have
We asked for a leg order 🐷 and the pan surrapa arrived, a mincemeat and to top it all off the meat was a heartfelt hobby typical of badly handled and bad temperature foods 🌡 I put the photo for you to see. Only 4 whole pieces, and the rest a hash.If you look closely, the meat has a medium blue color, that is the presence of streptococcus.I bet 100 to 1, that the owner is an unconscious Dominican. The Chinese are cleaner here in New York USA.

The staff is terrible, they dont know how to deal with the customer who is paying them because if you dont order they dont make money. Those who claim to be a manager are pior. The food is always very bad, the raw rice you saw is always hard, the only thing that can save from time to time is the breaded chicken chicharones because other times they are old and tell you, and that the delivery lasts an average of almost 1: 30 If this owner wants to last longer with this restaurant, he should train his staff better, especially the managers
I ordered something to eat to take away at the El Capri restaurant located at Saint Nicholas Av, corner 177 street.The food smelled badly as if it had been stored for several days.It is a shame and a problem that a food store offers food that is not suitable for human consumption.I would like to give you zero (0) star.Be careful. Do not go to this place to eat.The city should check more this type of situations in restaurants. Can someone acquire a bacteria eating is that place.If I get sick, I know who to sue.I hope nothing happens to me
Ive been going here for over 30 years. But the prices are getting ridiculous high. I usually go for the Tripe. But now they want $ 10.00 for a small Tripe with Totones. No more Mondongo for me from El Capri !!! I was a client of Capri for more than 30 years. But prices have gone up in a ridiculous way. Usually, I went for the Tripe. 2022-05-02Two star rating for the amount of food given compared to the cost. My order consist of large soup, tostones, sin huezo ( boneless chicken). Quite honestly 26 dollars was a bit much, given the amount of food was so little. Barely two ppl can eat from the plate of boneless chicken not to mention they were so tiny. However, food was good, arrived quickly ! This place has always been a favorite, but I am very disappointed at the service provided today. I don’t mind paying the price , if the amount is RIGHT !

2022-05-14The cash register lady was kind of a grouch was not very pleasant. I asked for change and told she did not have quarters. When I paid the bill she gave me bills but not the change. I said she did not give the whole change. She said I was wrong I had to put the receipt on the glass so she coul look at it and finally she gave the change. So she had it in the register. She couldnt look at me in the face. All I needed was 2 quarters for the meter so I could sit inside and eat. The 3 stars are for the food was good. Ive been eating there for 20+ years and they always gave me change for the meter.

2022-01-03We ordered for delivery and it took over one hour. When the food arrived the price of one of the items (skirt steak) was $12 higher than what was listed on a paper menu. They claim the menu I had was old but I picked it up in person this week. Then to top it off the grilled chicken was really grilled it was just cooked on a pan b/c I can tell the difference and it was hard and rubbery. We ordered a salad and it can with no dressing. Extremely disappointing

2020-04-20This is my absolute go-to spot when I used to live in the Washington Heights for three years. Yes they dont speak a lot of English, but the food is bomb AF and you get so much food for what you pay for. Whenever the owner is there, she does speak English so youll be fine. Otherwise, just point in the menu and youll be fine. Dont let that hinder you from having a fantastic home-cooked meal! What I usually get are the stewed oxtail, stewed goat, red snapper (if I feel a little spend-y), tripe soup, and Dominican soup. AMAZING every time.

2021-09-18I order here maybe 3 times a week minimal and it’s always an issue with the person on the phone. they change prices depending on who answers the phone. They need to assign one person to answer the phone. One day they say something isn’t on the menu or is one price and within the same day if someone different answers the phone. They need to be aware of the people who call there often and obviously show them more respect. I wouldn’t recommend them, their food isn’t all that.

2020-12-28I ordered breaded steak. After over a half hour the waitress brought over grilled chicken cutlets. The waitress said she mustve made a mistake. She said the item is actually not on the menu and the grilled chicken is what THEY decided would be a good substitute (rather than tell me after waiting over a half hour). I asked what the price of the grilled chicken cutlets would be and they said they would charge me the price of the steak. Horrible service, and cant even comment on the food since I returned it.

2018-08-18I have been going here over 10 years on and off. The food has always been pretty good, used to have some issues here and there but nothing major. Since owner passed away food has actually gotten better, maybe a different cook. The thing that gets me with this place is the prices. They are simply too expensive compared to other restaurants selling the same food in the Heights and my complaints about prices have always fallen on deaf ears but they definitely have gotten only a fraction of my business over the years due to high prices, I sometimes wonder how they are able to stay in business its like they want to price gouge for every single thing. NO THANKS
