Jeff and his team are very professional and reliable. I called Jeff and he scheduled to meet us at our home. He gave us the estimation for installing chimney liner outside and installing new gas fired place. We stopped by at his store and he gave us all options. He installed all these in the time as we requested and he did the best. We are highly recommend Captain Soot (have already referred my friend).

My wife and i went by to gather info on pellet and wood stoves. Jeff was very knowledgeable and down to earth, Pleasant to deal with and very reasonable on pricing. He even directed me to some sources of wood. We are very excited to get our new stove up an running to help beat down the the cost of oil! A++Post install. They came in and finished in 5 hours start to finish. We love the way it looks and heats. We would recommend Jeff any day.

I scheduled an appointment for a chimney cleaning with Jeff and was provided a two hour window. The day of the appointment, during my appointment window, Jeff called and said they couldnt make it. He rescheduled me for another two hour window the next day. Nobody showed up the next day and nobody called. I called Jeff back to find out when someone could reschedule. He said I cant tell you now, Ill call you later. I asked if he could let me know approximately, and he said no and proceeded to hang up on me. Total time wasted was approximately 5-6 hours waiting around for his crew (in the middle of my workday). Would not recommend using this company unless you are willing to hire someone to come and go as they please with zero respect for your time.

I do not normally create reviews for companies, but Jeff and his team were amazing. I purchased a wood pellet stove from another company who after doing a yearly clearly caused my pellet stove to stop working. Jeff was nice enough to work with me over the phone for over a half hour to correct the problem and saved me $$$. Whatever you need for your stove or fireplace they are worth every penny. Thank you again.

Jeff and his crew sold and installed an Osburn 2400 unit in my house a few days ago. I was at first apprehensive dealing solely by phone to a company several hours away (I’m in the Philadelphia area) but Jeff was thorough in speaking with me, answered all my questions, and was very very knowledgeable on his products. He had the stove drop shipped to my house and his guys came and installed without any issues. Even cleaned up real nice and showed me how to use everything. A very smooth process and, here’s the kicker: the stove, installed, parts and labor, was 40% less than the fireplace store down the road from me. If Jeff installs in your area, I’d highly reccomend. I’ll be getting a pellet unit for my basement in a year or two and I already know who I’m calling.

Jeff has been nothing but excellent through my process. We added a fireplace as part of a whole house remodel. Even though my contractor delayed and messed several things up, Jeff returned every time there was a need to ensure the system operates properly.I would recommend to anyone. My experience with Captain Soot was great. I wanted to install a new gas fireplace insert in my old fireplace. After shopping at some of the larger stores on the island a friend of mine refered me to Captain Soot. I met the owner Jeff at the shop on a Saturday afternoon.He was very knowledgeable about his products and made me feel comfortable with him doing the installation. He priced out a new Regency Horizon fireplace insert for me with installation and was nearly $1000 less expensive than the other stores. Within 2 weeks he had the job done and its only been 2 weeks but so far we are very happy with the fireplace insert and the installation by Captain Soot.

Put a deposit on a Regency CI 2600 Wood Fireplace Insert on Monday, April 24, 2017 and it was fully installed on Saturday, April 29. Less than a week. We shopped around and Captain soot was by far the least expensive around. We didnt decide to use them only due to the price. The owner who my wife dealt with was very professional and informative. The men who came to install the unit were on time, friendly and very professional. The fireplace is what we expected and looks awesome. Havent used the unit yet since its very warm outside now, but when I do, Ill update the review. Thanking Captain Soot for your service.

So it’s January 2, 2021. I am having my pellet stove serviced by another company. Jeff and his company said they cleaned my stove, operative word “said”. I just found out that that was far from the truth. They took my money and said they performed the services. Jeff also had me order accessories back in October and when I called him after multiple times he then told me “ he had no time for me”. So I’m not understanding why he would think I would rate him well. Giving him 1 star was too much....WARNING .I wouldn’t use this company.

Jeff at captain soot was absolutely the best! He installed a blaze king ashford 25 in my lynbrook home a few weeks ago and Ive been using it like every day! Its so much better than a standard inefficient fireplace but still wood burning and with a beautiful view of the fire. Hes professional and he had the best price. I really shopped for this thing and he really did a great job at a great price.
