Didnt stay, just came for dinner. Best dinner on the Bay!! Chef is amazing. Everyone loved their meals and the rhubarb cake was amazing!!!
Food was very good. You definitely need to keep in mind that its tapas style and that you should order a little more than you think you need. Staff seemed pretty disorganized from start to finish. We probably would have ordered drinks if they had given us the menu earlier or asked. At the end, they handed us the credit card machine where we accidentally marked the check as paid because they didnt put it in the correct mode for us to swipe a card.
Quiet and charming b&b in the heart of downtown A bay. Walking distances to scenic park and uncle sams boat tour. Relaxing porch atmosphere to just sit and read with some wine. Anthropologie-like decor with attached bath in the bedroom. My favorite part by far was the breakfast!!! Phenomenal food with local touches including fruit, baked peach cobbler, muffin, juevos rancheros, French toast, just to name a few. The best food we had all trip!!!
Outstanding restored Victorian that makes a wonderful B&B. Delicious, filling breakfast and interesting conversation with Sam, the Innkeeper. Great location for the entire Thousand Islands area. We will go back! Thank you, Sam.

2021-06-24Dinner here was excellent! I had the House Risotto w/ sausage for my entrée, which was just the right portion size and tasted great. Though, if youre feeling extra hungry you may want a starter to go along with it. My wife had the Buddha Bowl, which had very generous helpings of vegetables and was very good too. For dessert, I decided to try the Malva Pudding, which Ive never had before. Id highly recommend it, if you like bread pudding type desserts. The Carrot Cake was excellent too! It was fresh and had a ton of flavor. Certainly much better than the sugary carrot cake at the grocery store! Also, if you can get the table by the bar, its a unique little spot, secluded from the rest of the restaurant. Overall, it was a great dinner and well definitely return here the next time were in the area.

2021-07-02The Kitchen at the Captain Visger House was the culinary highlight of my trip to the Thousand Islands. The relaxed atmosphere was enhanced by impeccable service and well crafted cocktails. The menu highlighted local produce and farmers with a definite Italian flair. As delicious as the starters and entrees were they were eclipsed by the deserts, most notably the homemade carrot cake and bread pudding in caramel sauce. I would highly recommend it to anyone spending their evening in Alexandria Bay.

2020-09-15Loved the food! Actually everything! We order to go I wished I could eat indoor, but I was with my dog. My husband texted the order and requested vegetarian tacos. The person said it was fine. He was treated by a nice Hispanic guy named Otto, who right away when to the kitchen to make sure they got the order right. He was always checking up on our order. I loved the attention that they provide to their costumers. Is a great place! The food is amazing coming back here tomorrow for breakfast!

2020-07-12We were trying to find something special to go out to dinner and we found it. The restaurant is in a bed and breakfast and my wife was a bit skeptical at first but it felt special to us as soon as we arrived. The staff is very friendly and attentive. I had the monk fish and it was the best prepared dish I had in a long time. My wife loved the Buddha bowl and white bean soup. The drinks (Negroni and an old fashioned) were nicely prepared and tasted delicious. Great experience overall for a nice night out.

2018-08-28We had such a nice time here! The accommodations were not only comfortable, but beautiful and interesting, there was so much to look at. The food was delicious, and portions generous we could barely finish our gourmet breakfasts. We also choose to have dinner at the kitchen, which is the attached restaurant, it was phenomenal and fresh! We could not have asked for more. Sam the owner is attentive and accommodating, more then willingly to give recommendations about fun things to do in Alexandria bay and beyond, including our visit to Canada. We look forward to visiting again and will definitely be staying at Captain Visger House again!

2021-06-15This is the BEST restaurant in Alexandria Bay. The food is exceptional and the service is second to none. If you go to the Thousand Islands please go there, you wont be disappointed. Reservations are a must.

2018-07-06The chef here is incredibly talented, but the dishes were hit-out-of-the-park amazing, or a complete miss. We had dinner here on two separate occasions. My scallops and my best friends beef wellington dishes, along with the burrata and the beet salad were out-of-this-world amazing. Fresh, flavorful, and cooked (or arranged) to perfection. They also have a curated selection of local wine, beers, ciders, etc. where I discovered a new favorite of mine. The service was also great and our server was knowledgeable. On our second visit however, we had a pork loin special and the pork belly. While the sauces for both were just as flavorful as the night previous, the meat itself was bland, disappointing, and fatty. Additionally, the service was more scattered and they burned one of our requested dishes twice because of the delicacy required in cooking it.

2018-09-30My husband and I stayed at Captain Visger House for the first time and are already planning to come back next year. The room was very cozy with the most comfortable bed. The food was absolutely AMAZING. Sam is an awesome chef. The food for breakfast and dinner was phenomenal and completely blew away our expectations. Thanks for such a lovely weekend!

2015-08-27My husband & I stayed 5 nights at Captain Visger House. Sam & Katie were amazing. The Captains Suite is absolutely worth every penny with the most comfortable bed. Breakfast every morning was so delicious my mouth is watering just thinking about those muffins with blueberries that ooze when you cut into them and the brisket, sweet potatoes, poached eggs, french toast, quiche, French pressed coffee....amazing. We will not stay anywhere else in upstate New York.
