I fulfilled my dream of going to their bakeries and eat something from “Times Square”. But the Cannoli it wasn’t what i expected too sweet and too big.The macadamia cookie it wasn’t what I expected either. Everything expensive is like paying the entrance to a museum and bad customer service. I think those who attend lack humility and charisma. The best thing is that they give you a piece of Red Velvet cake so you can leave a “good comment” (that wont be me) with that little gift. I assure you, that was the best cake I tried in my life. Improve more a good customer service and more with foreigners!
Havent been to this place but sitting here in Germany, I ordered a cake from them for my brother in New Jersey and to my surprise not just that it was delicious, large, beautiful piece of sweetness, they customized it too and sent the message I put, in a special card. I am truly happy with their gesture since it really made my brothers day. Thanks Carlos bakery!
Incredible desserts! My wife and I visited a couple of times during our stay in NYC and Carlos Bakery did not disappoint. Weve tried their strawberry cheesecake, strawberry shortcake, and rainbow cake so far and theyve all been phenomenal. We cant wait to go back and try more treats!
I know this is a tourist trap kind of place but I still had very high hopes. Honestly it isnt worth the hype or the money. Im very sad to say this but save your money and go somewhere that has tasty treats. Everything looked fantastic but it wasnt worth the hype or the price.
I stopped by here during my first visit to New York City and I thoroughly enjoyed myself! The line went by super fast and there were so many items to choose from! I ended up going with the rainbow strawberry cake which was SUPER DELICIOUS by the way, and a chocolate chip cookie just to be safe. The cake took me a while to eat because it was so big but I was very satisfied! There was a bit of a wait after ordering but other than that everything was smooth! The shop isn’t open for sit down dining which I totally understand because of COVID and how small of an area the seating would be. I had a great time there.
I Love this bakery. Everytime Im in 42ND Street I always come here. I watched all his shows so I had to come here. I love there desserts. I love there cannolis and there cheesecakes. The pie was good too. The staff is nice and make you feel welcome. Its always packed in there. The system they have is amazing The line goes fast. They come to you with a tablet and ask what you want. then when you get to the front you just pay and they have your order right there when you paying. They have no inside dining. They are following CORONAVIRUS protocols. I will always come back here I love it. I recommend it to everyone. If you dont like sweet things just dont come is a bakery it has to be sweet. They have carrot stuff and pumkin things too if you want something not that sweet. I love this place I recommend to everyone. They have a wheelchair accessible entrance.
Yes, its right next to Port Authority; yes, its usually very crowded; and yes, I usually find another venue for coffee & treat. However, no lines and just a few people inside at 1 p.m. brought us inside. Good, hot coffee and delicious lemon cheesecake. Is it expensive? Of course! Its New York City!
Visiting NYC for Christmas and I had to get a Cannoli from Carlos Bake Shop. I am part Italian and had to have my first ever Cannoli in NYC from a reputable place. I was not disappointed at all. We ordered through door dash and the Cannolis were super fresh when they arrived. Perfect crispy outer shell and delicious creamy filling with the yummy chocolate chips scattered throughout. 100% recommend this place for Cannolis. I would definitely get these again from Carlos Bake Shop. Follow me on YouTube for more reviews search Sarah Braxton :)
I cant believe I use to walk pass Carlos bakery & never stopped until my friend visited me & she was excited to go. Im glad I did because I will be stopping here all the time now. I had the carrot cake and pumpkin cake. Absolutely loved both. The cakes were delicious and authentic. Yummy!!!5/3/21: I had their Caramel Cheesecake & lets just say Ill be getting it again. Its just the right amount of sweet and consistent cream. So good. They get me every time. I cannot get enough of his cake, I had the strawberry shortbread cake. So soft & spongy, absolutely delicious.
So heres the thing, I asked how much the 7 layer cookies were, the girl said $12. Figured that was fair because it was for a box. Fine. Ring it up and its $18. I question it and told the cashier I was told they were $12 and he wouldnt budge. Pay for it anyways because I was excited to finally try something from the Cake Boss. Got back to my hotel and open the box...its vacuum sealed. Weird but ok. I eat one cookie and they taste nothing like the almond deliciousness they should, they taste like the plastic packaging. Horrible. Do better, please. Not worth $5 let alone the $18 I paid.
I went for the same reason most were there, to see The Cake Boss!! It had a beautiful display of sweets! Unfortunately, we were so tired and they removed all of the chairs for patrons. We had to stand and eat. The brownie was delicious, the cannoli was good and the pizza was not good. The cheese wasn’t melted and the dough under it was strange. It looked beautiful though. The dining room wasn’t inviting, it was dirty and that was a bummer. The folks working there— Wonderful! They were all so nice and ran the assembly line perfectly.
Definitely agree with the tourist trap comments. This place just isnt that great. Constantly packed and the food really isnt that good. Our group tried this location twice during our visit, and both times we got pastries that were clearly made days before we received them. Specially the Banana Cream Pie. Bananas were BLACK and tasted rotten. The only saving grace was the Chocolate Mousse Mug cake. Everything else is really 50/50. Best of luck if you visit!
The cake was absolutely amazing but the service not so much. I had ordered for the cake to be delivered at 10:30am as I was staying in New York for a few days and was using my time to explore the city. I was of course expecting the cake around 10:30.9:50am I get a text saying the cake was delivered… what? I’m currently a 20 min walk away from the hotel and I don’t know what’s going to happen to the cake in a hotel lobby so I stop what I was doing and rush back to the hotel. Luckily everything was fine but I just find it odd that there was no alert or call saying the cake was coming early or something. I would get the cake again but probably skip the delivery service
Lobster tail and chocolate fudge cake. Great dessert, but kind of a crazy line to wait in and then they almost forgot one of my items. Not quick service. The chocolate cake was amazing. Appreciate the novelty of the lobster tail, which is why this place is famous, but not my favorite dessert ever
The cheesecake was AMAZING...probably the best Ive ever had. However, the line was long and the service was below average. I would likely return just to get the cheesecake, but I would expect a long wait and poor service. Also, the goods are more $$$ than they should be, IMO. Theyre definitely capitalizing on tourists
A bit upset about how my eclair was placed in my box. How was I suppose to eat this when its placed upside down? I was so excited to try this place out cause I watch a lot of food network when I travel. Wont be ordering anything custom here since they dont care how a simple eclair is placed in a box.
Stopped by for a chocolate cannoli on my way to Times Square. As soon as I entered I was rudely told to wear my mask by one of the employees (from behind the counter). I’m fully vaccinated and have nothing against businesses requiring masks but sometimes it’s the way someone says something that matters the most. I felt unwelcome, proceeded to buy my cannoli and left. I regret not being able to give this bakery a higher rating!
Since its so close to Valentines Day we couldnt pass up the opportunity to order one from Carlos Bakery! My daughter, who is a senior bow, and I used to watch the show when she was a kid so stopping in was like taking a trip down memory lane. As soon as you step into the place, it is a yummy assault to the senses! Colors, aromas, beautifully decorated goodies. What an experience. We picked up our cake but while we were there we of course got some lobster tails, chocolate croissants, and a slice of cake. I also got a cup of coffee as a pick-me-up and I am SO glad I did! It was delicious with frothed milk. Just what the doctor ordered on this cold wet evening. Would definitely go back here again and highly recommend the visit!
This is the third time I’ve visited and honestly it was not good. We did get there in the later evening (after 8pm) and most of the display case was empty and that’s understandable. We did order 2 cookies, a mini cheese cake and 2 lobster tails. I only tried the lobster tail and it was not good. The cream was ok but the pastry was not the flaky crispy shell it should be. Really disappointed since that’s one of the main things they’re known for.The previous visits the food was much better. I will save my money for somewhere else next time.
My wife and I ordered a cake for my daughter’s birthday and it was horrible. However, we decided to give Carlos another chance. The pastries we ordered today were horrible but edible, things took a turn when we found mold in the lemon preserve cheesecake. This is horrible, unacceptable and extremely disgusting. I will let all of my friends and family know Not to buy from here. Not worth the money!! Absolutely disgusting.
Home of the famous Cake Boss, this is a must visit bakery! Everything is very commercialized, but the food is still top notch and doesnt disappoint. No matter what your in the mood for, they have something for everyone! The glass display hosts an impressive variety of beautifully decorated pastries, cakes, and cookies! At the very least trying one of their famous cannolis is a definite winner. Being so widely known, expect a line, but the staff is efficient and keeps things moving.
It’s been a while since I set foot in this Carlo’s Bakery... over a year since the pandemic.I’ve finally stopped by the bakery again yesterday, 7:30pm Friday night after work.NO line... there were only two people ahead of me who were already ordering. So that was perfect because it gave me time to decided on what to order.Lots of options and I wish they offered a sampler box. I walked out with 1 Lobster tail, 1 Sfogliatelle, 1 Black and White cookie, and 1 box of rainbow 🌈 cookies . FREE apron gift with $35 purchase.I love their lobster tails... one of the best... so crispy! I recall their menu having 5-8 different flavors pre-covid, not it’s cut down to the one classic favor. The cakes, and mini cheesecakes are beautiful!!! Will definitely try out next time !I knocked off a star because they are $$$$ pricey... mostly because they can due to the high rent since they are located in a prime touristy spot, Times Square NYC. Also, the rainbow cookies are very dry, pretty but not fresh. Definitely recommend pairing this with milk or coffee. All their cookies are prepackaged. Everything looks delicious. Will return again for another treat next time.
Just delicious! I have a family of 4 so we tried a little assortment. Strawberry shortcake was amazing, lobster tails were crispy and custard was so creamy, oreo cheesecake was a little too thick, carrot cake ice cream was flavorful but not orange lol and lastly cannoli was crunchy and creamy! Definitely recommended if you are in NYC!
Was extremely disappointed. I am Italian and have grandparents and grand uncles who worked in bakeries for years of their lives. The lobster tails were overbaked and creme tasteless. Cannolis were almost inedible. I couldnt believe I spent almost 40 dollars for such terrible Italian baked goods Buddy is famous for. Wow. Just wow. So so disappointed.
Definitely wanted to try since I absolutely love his show. I wasnt really impressed with the items that I tried. One of the two cupcakes were really dry, you definitely can tell one was from ab totally different batch of batter due to the dryness. Dont think Ill try again, but to each its own.
Really disappointed. I was soo excited to have the real cake boss pastries... But came away very disappointed. We tried a cannoli and a lobster tail thinking those were the must trys and both were so disappointing. The cannoli was so bad we literally had 2 bites and threw the rest in the trash. Lobster cream was DELICIOUS but the outer shell was so hard and flavorless. Inside of the shop was really neat but I wish Id saved my money 🤷♀️.
Better than expected. Well thought through and organised. When you go on you are allocated your own server who explains everything and gives great suggestions.Cakes were better then i thought they would need for a TV bakery. Very tasty and got chocolate was one of the best I have had.Managed to sit down to eat but over ordered because everything looks so good.
Heard of it a lot, that it is one of the best bakeries and worth to visit it. What to say, pastry’s assortment is not that wide, mostly cakes, and everything looks similar. I took a ricotto cheesecake, paid $11! for a piece (you can buy whole cake at $20 at Wholefoods which is quite good) and it was nothing special. Does not worth this money. Too expensive fancy place. Don’t recommend.
Amazing! They’re super quick, they take your order while you’re in line and when it’s your turn to check out, you just give them your name and pay. Super easy. Hands down the best cannoli and mille-feuille I’ve ever had. Only downfall was that they forgot one item on my order which was the cookies n cream lobster tail. I realized this as I got back to the hotel but was so pleased with everything else, I actually didn’t mind. If I ever find myself in NY again, rest assured I will pay a visit.
Superbly made cakes and pastries as you would expect from an establishment named after a famed tv personality chef. Highly recommend the incredibly crispy lobster tail pastry that comes various cream fillings, I enjoyed the hazelnut chocolate a lot. The strawberry cheesecake is delectable and rich, though pricey. This place offers souvenirs too for those looking for a gift or two.
I’m out of state at the moment so Called the store and got a hold of Stacey Sanchez. She helped me with with everything. I called back two more times and got Stacey again thankfully. Every single call was handle with professionalism and an amazingly positive attitude. You guys are lucky to have her on your team! Employees like her is what keeps your loyal customers happy. For anyone at the 8th Ave location make sure to ask for Stacey.
Best Cannolis I ever had in my life. Rainbow cake is awesome and there is a strong taste of butter in between the layers. I have tasted their strawberry short cake, carrot cake and cookies. All of them are wonderful. If you are at Times Square, this bakery should be in your list. Dont complain about the price, its New York. Its Christmas time so youll get a free merchandise too!
I absolutely loved the strawberry shortcake. I thought it would be too heavy since there was a lot of cream but it was delicious and very light. You can eat it and not get mad at yourself. Lol. It was quite pricey though for a slice of cake ($8.95). Their signature lobster tails were crispy and was also light and flakey. I didnt get to try the canoli but was told it was good.
Ok, so visiting New York with my daughter and notice Carlo’s bakery. As a former cake boss aficionado totally had to stop. The pastries looked delicious! (Note the 2 star review!) sad day…they were gritty! Gritty and dessert should never be in the same sentence let alone a pastry!! At least the cheesecake and the cannolis we tried were. Gross! The lobster tail had a yummy creamy filling but the shell part was so tough it made it hard to eat. Buddy needs to taste his wares. Go down the street to Angelinas bakery if you want some truly decadent and delicious desserts.
Very good cheesecakes, chocolate cake, and sugar cookies. The line was long but it was inside the building. The staff are nice. The prices are very expensive so plan to bring a lot of money. Two pieces of cake and 3 cookies cost me $34. I was on vacation mode so the experience outweighed the price. If you can visit, do so.
So, everything looks beautiful... But the taste is average. Also the prices were crazy expensive!!! For some cannolis and cream puffs I think we paid almost $30, and dont get me wrong, I dont mind paying if something is fantastic but these honestly just werent worth it for me. That being said, it was something that we just had to try because they were on TV.
I am so upset with Carlos I place an order two weeks in advance through Door Dash with the Fathers Day promotion they had. It was supposed to be delivered on Friday and It did not show then they said it will be delivered on Saturday, well it’s Saturday night and no order and after reaching out a third time with Door dash they tell me that they sold out . Seriously I get told this a day after it was supposed to be here. Thanks for ruining my Father’s Day surprise for my dad . Now there is not time to get a bakery Pie and cake like I had ordered. Beware and don’t order for a special occasion, they will ruin it .
25.06.2018. I am obviously a fan of the show, so it was a no brainer i wanted to see the Hoboken shop. Sadly with limited time and logistics we didnt quite make it there. I was happy when getting off one of the stops on Broadway to see this corner shop. We had to go in. There was quite a queue inside the shop, and it was a rather hot afternoon. As we made our way around the snake like queue, we were greeted by 2 staff members ready to take your order.Um i cant even see whats on display there is a row of cookbooks and Aprons blocking the view, nor do you have a menu??? As the queue runs along the display towards the tills. So now i have to ask what do you have. It was rather annoying as i wanted to see whats in the display case vs just being told what they have as something might catch my eye that looks interesting. In the end i saw a sign by the entrance about their Lobster tails so i opted for that. My friend ordered a Chocolate Eclair and their Wholly Cannoli Drink. To be honest the cakes dont really look that wow, and they are very pricy. My lobster tail was cold and the pastry was rock hard. The Hazelnut cream inside wasnt bad. My friends Eclair tasted ok too but sadly Carlos didnt live up to my expectations. Maybe i should have just ordered a CannoliI noticed that i am not the only one with similar complaints about the setup and tastes of the goodies on offer. I think you just paying for the name.#TheFoodMusketeerTravels#TheFoodMusketeerEats#TheFoodMusketeer#TFMCarlosBakery#TFMTakesNewYork
Deliberately came to check out and only realised this is not the original but a tourist stop version .. hahaBought a hazelnut lobster tail. The pantry is wonderful and ample filling but just a bit too sweet to me.Bought Carnoli too and again, it is cripsy and fresh but the filling inside is just too much and overly sweet.Staff are really nice and friendly. A bit overpriced though but at the end, it is at an expensive location. Worth a trial but not too worth for value.
In New York and wanted to have a Cannoli & coffee. We did a search on Google Maps and Carlos Bakery was the closest. After in line for a few minutes, everything clicked...hey isnt that Cake Boss? All the food looked great...we did not sway and go for Lobster Tail...we stayed true to what we were craving and glad we did.2 Cannoli and 2 coffees pls. :-)
Had the rainbow cake, it was good but definitely not worthy 9 dollars. It was well balanced, not super sweet or aggressive. However after having a lot of sugar, I really needed one thing. And this thing was water. I was disappointed because no water taps were available to help me to get rid of that terrible quench and had to face the 97f times square.
I didn’t know this bakery belonged to Carlos featured on the show Cake Boss until I went in and saw his face everywhere. I just knew I saw a bakery and wanted some cake. And I wasn’t impressed. The presentation of the desserts was nice but the cake is pre-sliced, packaged, refrigerated and over priced. I understand that process saves time when you have a lot of customers but is the cake really that fresh? How long has it been in the fridge? I tried the vanilla cake with vanilla icing which was good once it was room temperature. But the strawberry shortcake 👎🏾. The strawberries were soft. Once again how long has that slice been sitting there?
So yummy we got the rainbow cake and loved it!!!!! We got a few other little things everything wAs so yummyyyy. The line was long but moved quickly so don’t be afraid!! We were traveling the same day so we did not purchase a whole cake, in the future I might. Yes that means I will go back so colorful everything I really enjoyed it. Girls who helped were very nice, and bilingual!
The cake is delicious. I had their signature Rainbow cake. I loved it. The staff is friendly. The decor is nice. The lines are extremely long this place is super touristy so for NYers this visit can become a little frustrating. The cake at least is worth the wait. They really need a modernize electronic ticketing system and iPads for the people taking the orders on the line that go directly to the prep area. Also a mobile app for advanced ordering could alleviate congestion on the line as well, a mobile app that is iOS and Android compatible should be a decision they make now for so many reason that is a great investment into their thriving business.
Ive been wanting to go here for awhile!! I watch Cake Boss. I had a canoli and an eclair and they were amazing!! Luke a little bit of heaven 😍😍😍 What was great was they stayed open late. The only bad things were there was a long line and not much for seating. Although if there was more seating I wouldnt have met this really interesting brother and sister.
We were greeted promptly. There is a setup for temp check and also a place for hand sanitation . Masked up and the floor is setup so that you follow the guides on the floor. There are so many visually satisfying options to choose from.cannolis , cheesecakes, cookies etc.We were in a cookie mood today. They were delicious and made our day even more magnificent.
When we are near a Carlos bakeries, we always stop in and buy. It was always the best. We went to Mohegan for first time since covid and we were excited to buy slices cake. It was always worth the money …but sadly the “carrot” cake was inedible. One bite It had a funky taste, could not pick up carrot in it at all. We did not recognize it to be a carrot cake. If I didn’t travel there I would have returned it.husband tried it, My husband said maybe it’s you, he took bite , his comment this isn’t carrot cake and leaves a weird taste in your mouth. In the trash it went!😢
The canolli and salted caramel lobster tail were very tasty and nicely packaged for take away with utensils (but problematically, no napkins). Cookies $3-5, slice of cake $10, other baked goods $6-$7. So higher than your neighborhood grocery.....but you are in times square! Only sell large coffees and it was not very hot. Main problem is the line wait. They are just really slow are serving customers and taking payment. Also they try to take your order while you are back in line and havent even reached the display case yet to view what they have available. Anyhow good quality but need to fix the ordering process and checkout.
It was very busy when I came in Friday evening (understandable). They didnt have a huge selection to pick from, so I got what I could. I dont think its a fair representation of the real Carlos Bakery in Hoboken, but Im glad I got a small taste of it. I loved everything. I got a cupcake, cannoli, and lobster tail. All were very yummy.
Very good first experience here. We had hot chocolate with a chocolate mousse, both were very tasty. Service and facilities were good and the location is very convinient too. The only downside is that it gets too crowded, Ive seen very long lines there. So, if you dont like to wait, try comming late during the evening.
I went to this place because I was curious and I used to see some of the series on TLC about this cake shop... so I was skeptical going there because I wanted to check their level in sweets... I was impressed with the stuff they had there and this huge variety of cakes and every other kind of sweets... nice staff and very reasonable prices to be honest... their sweets were delicious and I really enjoyed everything I tasted... red velvet cake was divine... also I tasted Oreos, hazelnut, Reese’s and pecan cupcakes and were awesome... such a good quality and fresh sweets... you should try it if you’re near to the Times Square... this guys there are actually pros...
I love my experience here!!! The line moved fairly fast. They have an order system that doesnt make you feel rushed and gives you individualized attention. Now lets talk about the deserts!!! I had a cannoli and a caramel eclair. The eclair was amazing! The cannoli was compared to my favorite cannolis in Italy and Florida.....and falls a little short. For others without a discriminatory taste bud the cannoli may be amazing as well. My friend had a cup cake and Oreo lobster tail. I had some of the frosting off the cupcake and regret now not getting one. If we were not strap for time I would have went back the next day. It is worth the trip.
The cheesecake was yummy - the lobster tail and carrot cake were not. Expensive prices and was dissapointed in quality of cakes considering how great they seem on the show. Felt mass produced. Fun to visit but give your business to local bakeries that need the money.
Wanted to go to the NJ location but was in town here and thought wed stop see what all of the hype was all about. My 12 yo is a HUGE fan of Cakeboss so this stop was a must. Very organized system to ordering even though overcrowded. Okay selection of baked goods but expected more variety. Got a small cheesecake, multi-colored piece of cake, chocolate chip cannolis and of course an I ❤NY cupcake. Disappointed. Ive had better elsewhere. Cupcake tasted like a stick of butter and the icing melted as we were walking outside:/ This is what happens when you get too big. Quality gets missed. Got the kids shirts and earned a free mug. Nice to see what its all about but wouldnt go out of your way.
Cheesecake was curdled, grainy texture and kind of bland. The canoli was greesy, like it hadnt been drained before filling or wasnt fried hot enough. My latte was luke warm, as if they put cold milk on my espresso. If it werent for everything having something wrong Id say it was an off day but three strikes, never again. I had been dreaming of going for some time. Im glad I got to go but I will never be back. Service was very nice for the amount of people they had in there at the time it was quick and efficient.
I use to get my cakes from carlos for special occasions , they were great. While in the city for my daughters surgery I took her to get a peice of cake, I thought 10.00 a slice of cake was rediculous especially now the cakes do not taste fresh or homemade. They taste like mass produced cakes its a shame
I watch Cake boss in the UK, so when visiting New York we went to Carlos Bakery once.....ok three times but the cakes are amazing the first time we went I was a little disappointed with the staff but the second and third time the staff were excellent very well mannered and happy to have a chat and serve you with a smile, we had a coffee and a Cake and both were great very tasty and definitely didnt disappoint.
Very disappointed. I ordered 2 chocolate cannolis and 2 Brownies. Dont know how thr cannoli tasted since they charged me and didnt give them to me. Found that out when I got back to my hotel. But if the Brownies were any indication, they would have been stingingly sweet. The Brownies looked decadent in the display case. But I had to wipe off the frosting to be at least edible. My 17 yo wouldnt even eat it. My daughter was so looking forward to visit and buy some of the baked goods. Her review, it was mid. Her definition for those not in the know...overhyped. bypass this tourist trap. Oh...I called the bakery, they did refund my money.
We had a lobster tail - the cream was spectacular, but it wasn’t filled to the brim and the end of the pastry was a bit to chew threw (you could just tell it wasn’t made that morning), but the flavor was delicious. There was a lot of other standard bakery offerings and Italian classics.
Well to be honest it was a big disappointment. First of all the prices 4$ for really bad tasting cannoli is absurd in my opinion. I tried real cannoli in Italy and it was way better than this one at Carlos, the filling was sweet, tasteless and dry. To eat it I had to drink water after each bite. The dough was average yet the powdered sugar was wet and not pleasant to eat.In my opinion they forget how to be a good small Italian bakery with tradition and now they became just a factory of average cakes and a place with a lot of stupid merchandise for tourist. In my opinion if you want to taste really good Italian pastries in NYC go to Small Italy. There are a lot of small authentic Italian bakeries with AMAZING coffee that you will never forget.
Try the carrot cake. Its amazing. Though the slice is $8 and change. Also try pecan pie, its to die for. They rarely have pecan pie available. Warm the pecan pie and serve with Häagen-Dazs vanilla ice cream. 👌My most least favorite pie is coffee crumb cake. (Its a disappointment) and its always available. SMH.Also be careful, theres an old lady that works there. She loves to up sell. She prolly thought I was a tourist. Her mistake! Im no tourists. I heard their espresso is one of the best. But I havent tried it yet. Side note: its a bit pricey.
This was such a fun experience! I loved watching Cake Boss when it was first on TV. I had the dream of visiting the cute little bakery for so many years, never truly believing I would make it to Hoboken, NJ for the glorious canolli. Well, this summer it happened when my husband and I went on a surprise business trip to NYC. We took the train over to Hoboken and there it was, in all its glory. What a quaint, and beautiful little bakery with all of its warm and fuzzy Mom/Pop shop feels. This Arizona girl is so happy to have been able to visit.
This place went below my expectations. Service was okay and fast but the food was not very good. Grocery store bought cupcakes were fluffier and more moist. I am so disappointed. Theres always a long line here and Im not sure why. Maybe just because its the cake boss bakery. Really not something I would recommend though. Their cheesecake (I got the chocolate covered one) was the best thing I ordered from here.
We had the American napoleon and strawberry napoleon and they tasted amazing. Crispy, flaky pastry filled with sweet whipped drink and topped with icing. Whats not to like! Now for me personally the icing was too sweet, but each to their own. Be prepared for a messy eat if u get these! Service was ok, not great.
Is not an exceptional bakery store, for sure all the food is frozen, you could stop by just because was in a TV show, the flavor and the menu is like a grocery store. If you would like something delicious is not a good option. The staff is friendly, the place is clean.
Cupcake was nothing special the store is in a great location right by Time Square but OMG can someone please clean the place up. For such a well known business that’s in the food/dessert industry you would think that the showcases would be cleaned constantly and the floors immaculate but NOT the case at all!!
Was my daughters birthday..being South African and it was her first time visiting NYC..took her through to try out the cakes..requested a little candle to make it extra special..was rudely told there was no candles....cashier was extremely rude and unapproachable...on the positive side..the cakes were delicious!!!..
Not at all authentic. I got the cheesecake and it was so tangy! The hot chocolate was even worse. It’s overrated. Customer service is awful it must be a New Yorker thing they are just plain rude not one of them smiled. Waste of my $20 for two small hot chocolates and a small cheesecake no bigger than my palm.
This bakery was made famous by Buddy and his TV show. I thought I would go try it and see what the fuss was about. It was heavily advertised that the lobster tail was really good so I had to try it.The outside shell was really hard and tough and wasnt easy to bite through. When I eventually did bite through, I had to spend 2-3mins chewing before I can swallow it. It wasnt remotely enjoyable. The taste was OK, but the pastry being that tough ruined the experience.I also bought a smores cupcake and that was nothing more than a chocolate cupcakeThis place is pretty overrated
I was SO impressed by this location as a whole. The quality and customer service was incredible. The cafe was also very clean (something important to a restaurant/service industry employee like myself). The woman who took my order was just darling, and I appreciated being taken aside singly to order without fighting off other tourists - which was the experience I had expected. Additionally, the decor of the bakery was charming, modern, and upkept: another bonus.I suppose if one complaint was to be had, it would be the prices... But its New York. It was also difficult to read the prices on the board and match those up to the nameless products in the display case... which probably works well for their bottom line. (That blueberry cheesecake cup pictured was $10.99! I still dont know the actual name of it.)I dont think Id go out of my way to plan another exclusive stop at a Carlos Bakery, but if I happened to be in the area of one of their locations, Id drop in.
After watching Cake Boss for many years, i always said if i was lucky enough to get the chance to go to America id visit one of Buddys cake shops. Wow! What can i say?! I wasnt disappointed! i had a white chocolate mousse cake and it was like heaven in a cake!! On each cake you can see how much detail and time goes into each cake. I would definitely visit again :)!
Brilliant bakery famous for Buddy Velascos sweet treats. Were big fans of the show as its shown on TV in the UK and was determined to visit for a some of the treats weve seen on TV. The cakes were fabulous and the canelloni was tasty. We loved it and recommend it to anyone in the vicinity. Too bad we didnt get to see anyone from the show there but well visit again!
The bakery had a unique system of having multiple staff try to take orders in line. And the staff in general were very helpful and welcoming. But what I really want to review is this god sent heaven tiramisu❤️. If you want something fluffy I mean clouds fluffy then this is for you, I would honestly consider just layers of this tiramisu for my wedding cake. It’s incredible, small downside is the expression not being as prominent but I didn’t even care cause the creame was that good!!!!
As a fan of Cake Boss, I was delighted to step foot into Carlos Bakery. Although it was a bit pricy for the Wooli Cannoli (best cannoli you will ever have), it was totally worth it and inevitably what I expected. We also got cupcakes, loved the moisture of the cake and texture of the icing. Cakes taste what they look like on TV. The best for a rainy day in NYC. We even got a free Carlos Bakery mug for our purchase for over 50 bucks (we had 4 people). If you arent from the US like me and love the show, come to Carlos Bakery as it is most likely a once in a lifetime opportunity. The only concern was the minimal seating, only three tables for a populous place, therefore we had to stand. Other than that, impressed :)
I thought the cakes were going to be amazing, but no! Ive ordered online one week before I went to NYC. I paid $35 for a strawberry short cake. It was the nastiest thing ever (maybe because I had high expectations). It was dried and salty. Salty? Yes! It seems they used salter butter ( I hope they used butter and not margarine). The place was packed because other people like me also wanted to have a taste of what we see on tv. For $10 I can get a better strawberry short cake from Safeway! By the way, the place was dirty. Dried coffee on the tables and the floor. Lots of used napkins on the floor and the garbage can was full. This place has already bad reviews from previous years but they do nothing to fix their problems!
Below average just a huge disappointment. The desserts are terrible quality cheap ingredients. My local bakery is way better than this over rated subpar bakery. Way overpriced for the quality of pastries you get. Cream puffs & lobster tails & Cannolis were terrible. The only thing I liked was the chocolate mousse cake was it good but for $10 it should, considering its the size of a hockey puck. Just a huge let down in my opinion of taste and quality for the overpriced pastries so overly hyped.
I would NOT recommend this place to anyone who is looking for tasty and delicious dessert.Me and my friend ordered one caramel iconic dessert and one dark chocolate mousse - which it was HORRIBLE. I wouldnt spend $10 for this horrible mousse. Iconic caramel dessert was very much crunchy & hard to bite and cream was really bad not tasty at all.My recommendation is DO NOT WASTE your time and money for this place and staying on the long line. Its not worthy at all. Im not satisfied.
Invisalign wearers beware... your shifting teeth are not strong enough for that hard af crumb cake. I could not cut through it. Had to bite it and that was even hard. The top is hard as a rock. Brownie is too rich. It would be good without the frosting though. Overpriced for mediocre. Definitely a tourist trap.
Avoid this tourist trap. While the bakery’s confections are not bad they are certainly not worth the price. You are paying full retail dessert prices you’d expect to pay at a high end NYC eatery and getting a considerably inferior product. The ambience inside was nice and the service equally decent. Another major drawback is the fact that this establishment has no seated dining . Your options are bring it back to your home or “enjoying” your overpriced treats with Times Squares growing homeless population swarming the outside of this joint. That said, if you don’t mind paying remarkable prices for an unremarkable experience then by all means go to Carlos Bakery. Otherwise avoid Carlos Bakery completely as there are too many other great options at lower prices in NYC than to be overcharged by this place….
I am a HUGE Cake Boss fan...I mean religiously watched every single episode. I was ecstatic when I found out they had a shop in New York City Time Square. Their White Chocolate Mousse is MOUTH WATERING!! I ate the whole thing without intention. I do wish their shop here was more... inviting. It was extremely bland compared to what their home store offers which was a bit of a let down so I couldnt give it 5 stars. But I do recommend you try the Mousse!

2022-06-15This was my first time ordering from this place. I order it all the way from New York, i live in a different state. I was very exited to give a try. The cake arrived intact, and on time. I ordered the rainbow layers cake. It look cute and very clean. Perfectly made.I did however dislike the fact that it was small and pricey. Although most places have high prices now, it was worth it. The style, appearing is very mesmerizing. I think is totally worth it. For a special occasion.

2021-11-13Tourist trap. Sure, they have some yummy baked goods, but overall its overpriced and horrible service. Its really hard to enjoy the experience when its all rush, rush, rush.We were slightly indecisive and wanted to ask a few questions. The employee just kept repeating hurriedly, what can I get you, what can I get you? Me: Yes... can you tell us...?She looks to the next customer, Are YOU ready to order? without acknowledging, much less answering our question. There were only a couple of people behind us. So its not like they were slammed. We finally ordered a full 6-inch red velvet cake. It was just handed to me without a word before she turned and ran away. Um... she stops and looks back.... Can we get some forks and a knife? Loud sigh. Yep!We only received forks but good thing we were all family. We started digging in from all sides. 5 of us and still managed to leave a 1/3d of the cake behind. The frosting was WAY too sweet! If thats how you like it, then youll love it. Laid on nice and thick! In my opinion, if you absolutely love the show and its a must do on your bucket list, then by all means. Otherwise, skip this tourist trap and truly enjoy one of the dozens of other amazing bakeries nearby who rely on the quality of their food and excellent customer service to win you over; not a reality television show which actually highlights the dysfunction of this business.

2022-01-02I’m not someone with a sweet tooth but I’ve always liked their lobster rolls. The reason I’m writing a comment is because I recently tried their coffee cream filled lobster rolls & they’re my absolute favorite! 😍Minus one star for the terribly long lines - they definitely need to do better crowd management. The tourist craze is great but they can cater to so many more people if they do a better job with the order placing part.

2022-04-15$14.99 for one individual serving size of regular cheesecake & a medium iced coffee. It was really good but extremely expensive, I thought theyd charged me for an entire cheesecake at that price, that said, the portion sizes are big and shareable.

2022-07-04Super overrated and needlessly expensive! Don’t fall for the trap…apparently fame has gotten to the chef’s head so now his production line is mediocre at best. I spent $18 dollar on a lobster tail which was nothing like what a lobster tail should taste like—it was filled with a cheap pudding-like substance. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY on the $10 mini cheesecake…it’s like the no bake Jello cheesecake…literally the type you can make at home. Super disappointed! To top it off, the staff is rude and unorganized. It wasn’t even that busy and yet they thought it was okay to package my lobster tail on top of my cheesecake?!? Nonsense! So the strawberry jelly was all over my lobster rollDo better, Buddy!

2021-12-22I really liked the style of their store and the non-food merchandise. But for a bakery thats so popular, to even have a TV show, it leaves so much to desire. Dont take me wrong I order a good cherry cheesecake, but I hoped for something more and the price doesnt justify it.

2022-07-10John and the staff were so kind and fun for my daughters Make a Wish. She has been a huge fan for years and couldnt wait to visit the shop. The sweet treats are incredible! My favorite was the strawberry doughnut sandwich and the strawberry cheesecake. Hers was the brownies and cupcakes she got to frost. We LOVED our experience and cant wait to go again.

2021-11-20Its really cool to be in such a famous bakery but I think its a little pricey, its was good, I tried the canoli but I dont think that its worth the price, there plenty of desserts in their menu, that I hope to try at some point, fortunately there was no line and it was fast even on a rush time

2022-03-29Desserts are delicious, but there is just 2 tables where you can sit and enjoy them. It is more for pick up than for dine in.

2021-11-18Cannot recommend enough. Hard to walk out without bags of pastries, slices of cake and slices of pie. Everything we tried was delicious! Cannot wait to go back on our next visit to NYC.
