Bought a truck from them last week. I had filled out an application with them online and submitted all my documentation and accepted an offer on a loan. I was told I could be in and out in 30 minutes for pick up. When I got there it went through 3 different people so they could delete my application from the one system and put in into another. My credit got run again which meant more hard pulls on my credit even though I was approved already. I then had to resubmit all my documents from my phone while sitting there and it took over 2 hours to do this.I even called numerous times before the day I picked up my truck to ensure things were in order. Each time I was told they would check and call me back. Each time no one called me back.They may have a lot of vehicles in stock but they definitely do not have their system figured out and do not follow through on their word.
We brought a car in to have valued today. It took two hours and the offer was $7,000 under Carvanas offer for a $30k car. KBB wise they were nearly $10k under. When challenged they explained several things including that the vehicle needed new tires… oddly enough we had replaced the tires 500 miles previously. It all felt a bit scammy and so obviously we won’t be doing business with CarMax anytime soon.
The hose on my radiator had popped off. Leaving me stranded in their parking lot.I asked for coolant and a screwdriver.They wanted to charge me 25 dollars for 1 Gallon of coolant. So I just put water from the sink in my cooling system and took it to a better shop that actually wanted to help. I understand the need to make money... but making money on another mans misery is not a great move.
My experience was wonderful. I went online and got a quote before I went to Carmax. My wait was very short. When it was my turn the whole process was easy and went very quickly. I was on my way I’m no time. It was hassle free and I would recommend Carmax to anyone looking to sell a car. There were also people there buying cars. I can’t say enough positive things about Carmax.
Beware! Just recently my daughter was told she was pre approve for a suv, paid over $900 for shipping (which is non refundable ) only to be told once the car arrived she was unable to getFinanced! It really sad because they would send text that everything going well until the day of pickup .
I originally had a horrible experience with this dealer. After I took delivery of the car I spoke to a manager who took it upon herself to change hiw I viewed the dealership. She did in fact help me address a few issues with the car and provided a loaner for me while doing it. In addition to this her caring attitude changed how I feel abou this dealership. Thank you for fixing this.
I had an overall good experience here. I feel that I received a decent price on the RAV4 that I purchased here .But it was raining the day that I picked up the car, and because of raindrops on the window,I didnt notice until I was driving home on the highway, that there was a ding in the front window. Luckily it was small enough and not on the driver side . Whether anyone there was aware of this before the sale I have no way of knowing, but it was in the center of the windshield so I would think it should have been noticed.Other than that, the one unfriendly person in the dealership,and the unbelievable amount of traffic in that area, I was pleased that I did business with CarMax and I am happy with the car.
I recently sold my car to CarMax, and really the whole experience couldnt have been better. I went online and received an appraisal for my vehicle (which was way higher than competitors), brought the car into the local store. The team at CarMax was professional and courteous throughout my whole visit and made the process so easy! I was happy to walk out with my check in about an hour.Ill be back very soon when I purchase my next vehicle. Highly recommend!
Mostly a good experience but I had to reschedule my appraisal appointment as I was out of town and they lowered the offer by $1200. Not cool. And I really wanted the funds deposited into my account, which the paperwork says they do, I got a paper check. Which was a pain.
Went in today to sell my 2020 RAV4. Did the appraisal online, then went in to have it inspected. Was offered the same as the online appraisal. Entire process was pleasant, professional, and seamless. In and out within an hour. Muhammed was great, explained every detail and made it that much more easy. Will definitely be doing all future car buying/selling with CarMax! Thank you!
It was totally positive from my initial entry to departure. Attention was immediate. No wasted time. All attendants friendly and professional. Facility was comfortable and clean. In particular, my service agent George. He was professional , efficient and knowledgeable.I was Impressed by his enthusiasm and detailed knowledge of CARMAX company - its history, current status & future projection. He stood out. The appraisal was fair and was what persuaded me to do business with CARMAX over its competitors. In my view, CARMAX is an exceptional business model. I will not hesitate to recommend the CARMAX experience to others and i personally will consider doing business with it again should the opportunity arise. No doubt, i am a satisfied customer.
I sold my car to Car Max with no hassle at all!I filled out all of the information online ahead of time, had an estimated offer in hand and went to the physical location near me.Associate confirmed basic information, took pictures of my car, verified the information I gave ahead of time, and within 45 mins I had a “full price” check in hand!Made the process very easy for me!
My experience at CarMax / Niagara Falls Blvd location was the absolute worst experience. The manager Grant talked down to me and my wife and attempted to sell us the SUV we had shipped from Clearwater Fl, with a huge gash in the tire. I attempted to explain to him that the tires showed on the Carmax webpage (4) brand new tires and that somehow the tire incurred a gash from the carrier who brought it up. He went on to say it was ok to drive it with a gash in the tire and nothing would happen. He stated tire would not blow out. Gash was completely down to the steel belts. Until I called Corporate customer service did his response / actions change. The manager Grant does not understand how to lead the team there. The sales person Natalie came up to us stating she agreed with us but due to the manager her hands were tied. I asked for the regional managers name but was never given the information. I previously purchased a vehicle almost 2 years and the experience was stellar compared to this nightmare. Never again Carmax at this location.
Everyone there was kind, courteous and very helpful. This was the BEST experience I have ever had in all my years of purchasing a car. From start to finish I had my new car, which had to be shipped from another state to Buffalo, NY from Laurel, Maryland, in about 10 days!The rep from Carmax got everything rolling and it was the smoothest, and most Pleasant car buying experience. Thank you to all who had a part in my purchase! I love my new car!!!
I had a great experience at CarMax Buffalo with Nathalie and Grant. I initially reached out to Grant, who connected me with Nathalie. She was my perfect car connection. We had a great rapport and I felt comfortable with her. I wasn’t sure about my first choice so she suggested the 24 hour test drive. When I brought it back, I still wasn’t sure. I quickly told her what more I was looking for. They were EXTREMELY busy and short staffed. She still managed to find the exact car I was looking for that day. It ended up being the car I bought. Nathalie was amazing! I loved working with her!
The simplest car sale transaction ever! No pressure and the price given on the website car evaluation tool was the exact price given when the car was appraised at the dealership. Every individual we encountered at the dealership was professional and communicated the process very clearly. The whole process took less then 1 hour and we walked out with a check in hand. The team at Carmax Buffalo on NF Blvd couldn’t have been a better group to work with. We worked primarily with Beau who did an excellent job. Numerous team members jumped in a few times to help and keep everything moving efficiently. While the car buying process of course still took time, it was more streamlined than the typical dealership. 5/5 stars for the overall experience.
Excellent customer service! I was able to find the vehicle I wanted at another Carmax location. They shipped it over to the location near me, which was great. They have a no haggle policy, which I absolutely love. I cannot stand haggling over the price of a car. The sticker prices at Carmax are very fair, without haggling! They gave me a great offer for my trade in, and wouldve purchased my old vehicle even if I didnt buy from them. They have a customer for life here!!
Carmax was very busy the day of my appt. it took a little longer than expected. Part was due to getting a payoff from the Bank (although i did bring the payoff info). everyone i was in contact with was very professional. Art was thorough and did a nice job. I had a friend that went through this a few weeks again. Discussing with her, she said it sounded like my team was more thorough than hers. Very pleased with the experience. They made a difficult process very seamless. Nice job!
We sold my husbands old car - such a smooth process! I was able to start the appraisal process online for our 2009 Hyundai, answered the normal questions about the condition of the car, mileage, wear and tear, etc. and uploaded a handful of photos. I was very honest about the condition of the car (which had seen better days, for sure!) and within an hour - on a Sunday no less - we had an appraisal amount that was VERY fair. Bested the dealerships by $1,000. We took the car in the next day, spoke with an agent who was very polite, not pushy at all. MUCH better experience than with your typical car dealership. CarMax even appraised a second car for us (a 2011 Scion) and bested the dealerships price by $2,000! I highly recommend CarMax for selling/trading in a used car. Friendly staff, fair prices, very easy process!
Easy going, extremely helpful staff. We traded in our family van for a smaller car. The trade-in was way above what others were offering us, and it was such a simple process. Test-driving was a joy.George, our sales associate, helped us search the lot as well as listings at nearby dealers. He lined up several for us to test drive (with kids! Thank you!). We didnt have to wait for anything. He made a low-pressure pitch for their extended care package, that was about it. They didnt try to sweat us or make us sit in an office somewhere while someone runs numbers. Its just, here are our cars, go drive them, see if you like them; if you do, you can buy them. No haggling, no song-and-dance where you make an offer and have to walk off the lot and wait for a phone call, or whatever boomer-age nonsense weve had to suffer through at other dealerships.Highly recommend.
First of all the lady thats took care of my finances with the trade in and bank was AMAZING!! ive never had a good experience with gettint a loan n stuff for a car.I love my car so much but other then thats I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND CARMAX TO ANYONE!! i wish i woulda went to where i got my last car from! I know we are in a pandemic but dont keep selling cars if u dont got enough salesmen to get you into a new vehicle. I do appreciate the guy doing me n my moms car business together at the sametime. but we was their for 4 hours!! even with me having all my info all together it still took long. Im happy i was able to get my car and i love it so much!! But i would NEVER get another car from carmaxs! EVER!! Ill stick to my west herr next time.
Excellent staff ...The whole process was easy .I requested a vehicle be transferred from another state and location .The vehicle was transferred within 4 days with no issues.I was able to take it for the 24 hour test drive .No one pushed any sale tactics they allowed me to decide if I wanted the vehicle .I drove the vehicle around the city and it was great !!! . Clean and in excellent condition. The photos on the site were spot on .In the final process of signing the papers the Buffalo team was great .They answered all of my questions and my customer service rep was very helpful and kind.Thanks CarMax ..You Rock !!!!!!!!!!!
I first went there and traded my 2010 traverse in and got a Cadillac SRX. I later figured out that it wasn’t suitable for my children so I called and told them I spoke with Racheal she was all around great with comforting me through the process of returning the Cadillac for something more suitable for my family! She told me to quickly look on line for what would be better and call her with a stock number ASAP. My new vehicle arrived before my 30 days was up! I went yesterday and saw the new car which is a Sorento EX! When I got there I was greeted by George who did all the paperwork with me! After being there a while my girlfriend brought my 3 year old twins there and all of the employees there were doting over them. Racheal brought out crayons and little books to color in. George put them to work with help carry papers from the printer to me. The atmosphere is wonderful there the customer service is excellent and George is great with kids! I had a salesman named Natalie at the Buffalo location on the blvd. She is absolutely amazing to deal with. She knows what she’s talking about, doesn’t push to do anything, super nice and got me exactly what I wanted. Currently in the process of buying another car from her now. Carmax got me approved even with horrible credit.
Walked in without an appointment looking to trade in my car, they gave me a good trade in value which was nice. I even found car that I liked and was going to buy, but when it came down to financing they said only one bank would loan to me at 25% interest rate. No thanks. I bought my first vehicle at West Herr with absolutely no credit with 12% interest. CarMax should work with better banks instead of wasting 3+ hours of my time.
I must say CarMax has definitely gained a customer for life. I was in the market for a low demand semi scarce vehicle (Lexus RCF) and after looking locally there were none in my area. After scanning all of the normal sites like cargurus autotrader.com and countless others Carmax had a great deal on one with only 9k mikes. They have access to the largest inventory of used vehicles because their network of dealerships nationwide. They also have a excellent extended warranty program. I had my car shipped from California to NY where I live and here’s the best part. I initially had my trade in appraised and I thought that was what I was getting for it. But because the shipment of been vehicle took longer than 7 days I had to get my trade in reappraised and to my astonishment I received 3k more than what I was going to get initially. With 1100 more miles on it amazing. No haggling no bs no pressure. All straightforward and couldn’t be happier with the experience and my new vehicle, thank you Carmax!
Was at a dealer trading in my vehicle for a new one. I thought their offer was low so I tried Carmax at the last second. Carmax offered me 37% more for my car. I sold my vehicle to Carmax that night and it took less than 20 minute to have their check in my hand. Seriously glad I stopped by Carmax!
My boyfriend and I are looking to sell his pickup truck and wanted to try carmax. We drove out there and got there 10 minutes before close, which I get is annoying..but we were completely turned away and told to try to come back a different day this week. We explained to them that was not an option as we are very busy and don’t live nearby… they just stood there staring at us without saying a word. There were several employees standing around just waiting to clock out huffing and puffing annoyed that we even walked in, but not one could just take the ten minutes to help us out and put some numbers in the computer and take a quick look at the truck. After the amount of vehicles we’ve bought and sold, I know for a fact that portion of the process does not take that much time. I’m really glad we took the rare bit of free time we have between jobs and three kids’ extra curricular activities to drive 20 minutes to get there BEFORE CLOSE to be told “ We’re closing soon, can you come back a different day this week?”
I’ve bought and sold from CarMax in Nashville 3 times, always a great experience. When we moved to Buffalo I was excited to see a new CarMax had just opened here. I was disappointed in its small size and severe lack of inventory on site. Nevertheless, I chose a car in Colorado and had it shipped to Buffalo. I also had my trade-in appraised at the same time. The car in CO took 3 weeks to get here, and the title had been lost a long the way! They couldn’t sell me the car. So I chose another car in Maine to be shipped here. They had me do a reappraisal of my trade-in at that time. The ME car also took 3 weeks to arrive. When I finally went to pick it up, they made me do a THIRD appraisal of my trade-in. The process took forever, it was difficult to get anyone on the phone. Next time I’ll drive to a bigger, more competent CarMax to get the job done.
Fast friendly service. The delivered a car from out of state for me to test drive and I am glad they did. Made the car buying experience super simple and didn’t pressure me in anyway. All the associates I dealt with were top notch and communicating via text was so helpful. Will recommend to all my friends and family and definitely will use again in the future.
No one gets back to you! No one seems to know what is going on! Very unwilling to help! So many workers and no one gives you undivided attention! The first vehicle I put a hold on was apparently never held for me. The second vehicle was transferred without the the title. It cost $600 to transfer and after speaking to several people, no one seems to know where the title is! Extremely frustrating!! I am not receiving any help! Very poor customer service!
I recently purchased a 2020 Subaru BRZ through this CarMax, and as an enthusiast I was initially very skeptical going into this buying process. Overall, I am very relieved to say that the entire process was totally transparent, and the staff were always putting in 100% to ensure that I was satisfied.Initially, I inquired about trading in my 2018 Fiesta ST, and had it appraised. I crunched some numbers, talked to my bank, got insurance quotes, and ended up moving forward with the trade, and initiating the sale of the BRZ. I found the exact car I wanted (down to the option!), paid a very fair $500 to have it shipped to this location, and waited for delivery. Upon arrival, the car needed to pass a NYS inspection, which included peeling off the extremely dark tint that was put on by the previous owner. Once the car had passed inspection, I drove it and confirmed that I was ready to buy. The next day, I came back to close the sale and trade in my Fiesta.After the always arduous process of getting all of the paperwork sorted, I drove my BRZ home. As soon as I got home, I noticed damage to the front bumper, clearly from when it was unloaded from the truck. I called, albeit a little frazzled, and was reassured that everything would be taken care of. I was able to pilot all communications between myself, CarMax, and the body shop doing the repair, and it was handled exactly as was most convenient for me and my needs. $0 out of my pocket later, I had a brand new bumper cover on the car and all was good.A few weeks after this, I received a letter from the NYS DMV regarding the insurance being suspended on my Fiesta that had been traded in, as apparently that was still registered under my name, and the state was not happy that this vehicle no longer had insurance. I found that a little odd, however I figured the DMV was most likely still backed up due to Covid. I called CarMax to confirm, and indeed that seemed to be the case-- the registration transfer paperwork was sent to the DMV the day of the sale. The temporary registration on the BRZ was set to expire 5/27, so I was eagerly anticipating the arrival of my new registration sticker to avoid any headaches. A week went by, and I still had not received my registration. With three days remaining on my temporary registration, I began to question what the hold-up was, so I called the DMV explained the situation, and was advised by the DMV to not drive the car if the registration was not processed by 5/27. I called CarMax again, and I was frustrated-- it is never fun to be told not to drive your new car (especially as an enthusiast) due to a registration hiccup. I was told by the person on the phone the paperwork was with them in an office, and not at the DMV. I decided it would be best to go to CarMax and talk with someone face-to-face, as I was stressed and upset after being under the impression that the DMV had the paperwork this entire time. Within five minutes of walking in, a wonderful associate explained the entire situation in which the paperwork was returned from the DMV due to a small clerical error. I was completely reassured that the paperwork had been revised and would be physically taken to the DMV the following business day to be processed immediately, which it was at the exact time stated, and I had the new registration that day.Throughout that process, everyone I dealt with was extremely apologetic, level-headed, transparent, and very willing to sort it out. I certainly hope the staff is properly compensated for the level of professionalism that I experienced! I am overall extremely impressed with the buying experience, specifically because I was so skeptical going into it. Driving is something I consider to be an expression of who I am, something Im sure other gear-heads can understand, and dealing with typical dealerships is, quite frankly, exhausting. I am beyond grateful for the assistance I received, and the fact that the whole process was so transparent.
I would have given CarMax a 5 but...The online trade-in appraisal was great, $1500 and it was honored on-site. Unfortunately, there was a Lien Release missing and the process of trading-in the car was delayed 7 days. The appraisal expired and when I went to trade it in with the release, just 3 days after the expiration, the value was a shocking $500. I lost $1000 just 3 days after the expiration. Your online reps tried to help but no luck so far. Worst of all, every time I call it is at least 25 minutes on hold with the absolute worst On-hold music ever created. Could have been great but I lost $1000 unexplained.
While they have many lenders to accommodate most credit scores their lack of communication between departments and customers needs a lot of work. One hand does not have a clue what the other is doing and it causes much confusion and the loss of potential sales. My daughter went elsewhere because of this. I myself am happy with my car and my salesmen were great as well. Gotta work on communication!
I arrived there in the morning and got a quote on my truck. Came back the same evening and sold the truck for substantial payment. The people there are very friendly and they know their stuff. They ask you a bunch of questions as long as youre honest with them theyre honest back to you and I was expecting a small amount of money for my truck because it was 9 years old and I got a lot more than I thought I was going to get.
I couldn’t be happier with my experience with CarMax!This was the first time I have ever tried to sell a car, and I had no idea what to expect from them. And while I almost never leave reviews, they deserve it!I started off calling them, did an online quote, and ended up going to the Amherst NY location to complete the sale of my vehicle.Customer service was fantastic; I had to call about 5 times (my fault for so many calls, not theirs!), don’t think I talked to the same person twice, and everyone of them was polite, helpful, friendly, knowledgeable, etc. and some even went above and beyond!Their speed and efficiency was amazing; emails and messages were sent before I was even ready for them, did the online appraisal as I was leaving for work and had an offer before I even got there, waited at the store just long enough to get a drink before I was being taken care of, and I was out the door in about half an hour.Everyone at the store was great! Josh R. took care of me; he was friendly, knew what he was doing and even tried to get things done quick enough that I could make it to the bank before they closed!And to top it all off, their offer was generously above what I had been hoping for. We were pleased with our experience however, after purchase was a little frustrating. Although the Manager is trying to make things right, it was VERY difficult to contact someone to answer questions. It took far too long to get a few details taken care of and we are still in the process of making some adjustments to what was PROMISED in our new vehicle but was not delivered. The purchasing and sales were GREAT. Team was very nice and did go to great lengths for our business. We love our new van. Just did not love being told it came with options that were not there. Being corrected but we feel like we had to fight for it and made several calls to get it made right.
My experience with CarMax was enjoyable from start to finish. I was able to shop, order the transfer of the vehicle I wanted and test drive it hassle free. I recommend checking them out. Definitely a better car buying experience for me hands down. No bologna. Thank you.

Working with Carmax was extremely easy and simple, no questions asked. They were very friendly and willing to answer any questions I had. I dont know how they do it, but they offered me more than I was expecting, and more than any car dealership was willing to give me. Once I received my quote I had seven days to think about it. When I took it in, the process took no more than 10 mins to receive my check and be out the door. I have recommended Carmax to everyone I know looking to trade their vehicle in.
I would not buy from this location again. There was a sales associates that was not knowledgeable about a car that my friend was buying his attitude was very nonchalant when it came to obtaining the information. I took a car out for a test drive and one of the associates called my phone asking when was I returning the car and was unprofessional when asking. Iplaced a car on hold and it was reserved for me at another location but yet somehow they still managed to sale the car. Carmax did however extend my 7 day return and waive my transportation fee on another car that I found online. I guess it was only right that they did so since it watheir screw up. An associate was doing an exchange for me on a car and when he saw another customer that he knew he got up and told another associate to take care of me while he handled the customers that walked in. My credit report was ran several times due to them putting in the incorrect figures for my co-signers income. The car was at the location and didnt get a call notifying me and when I called I wa told it was clean and ready to ne picked up. When I arrived it was dirty. Brown stains were on the inside overhead and the floor mats werent the original floor mats, I was told they could not replace them. I had to return the next day because I wasnt satisfied with how the car was clean because it wasnt. ABSOLUTELY DIRTY! I will say my sales associate did clean the inside over head and he did a good job, but just on that. I found a dent on the car the next day and the plastic finder was coming loose. If Carmax does such a detailed inspection then how was that visible dent missed. They are repairing it so lets see how this visit goes. I would definitely give this location a 0. Some of the managers need a crash course on human interaction. Rochester location gave me my nest car buying experience with Carmax and thats wherever I will go to next time
After losing my car to a fire a couple of weeks before Christmas I began looking at cars online on the CarMax website. I went in after finding a car I wanted to test drive. The salesperson I dealt with was great. I told Daniel what I was looking for in a vehicle and he helped me find a great car in my price range. I had a wonderful experience with CarMax and would recommend them to anyone looking to purchase a vehicle.
Ive never had such a wonderful experience buying a car. Weve had quite a few cars over the years from many dealerships, this was our first CarMax. We were never pressured into anything. We didnt trade anything so I cant speak about that but someone did sell a car while we were there and it seemed pretty painless. Our salesperson, Emily was the best. She was very patient with us and was super friendly. We will be letting everyone we know to go see her if they need a vehicle. CarMax had a great selection and so many with low miles. They can bring vehicles in from other locations as well. My wife hates the car buying process and couldnt be happier about her purchase. I will be going there when the time comes to get a different vehicle.
In and out in under 2 hours, received perfect service / help from staff, and received price that was above my reservation value. Long story short --- Everything you could ask for in selling a car.Oh yeah, also: really liked the no bargaining model that CarMax uses. Bargaining with used car dealers literally sucks the soul out of me, and CarMax saved my sanity. Highly recommended!
We requested an online quote prior to going to a car dealership to trade in a vehicle. The dealership offered $2000 less than the Carmax quote. The dealer told us that Carmax was giving us a high quote just to get us in the door and then they would inspect the car and give us a lower offer. So we took the vehicle to Carmax and lo and behold, they gave us exactly the deal they had quoted us! The agent we worked with (George) was amazing. No high pressure, no BS, very professional and friendly. I would recommend them to anyone who hates the games the sales staff and the General Managers play at the traditional dealerships.
I loved my experience with Carmax. The process was seamless. I ordered the car from another location and when it arrived I was able to test drive, then made my decision to keep it, and drove home the same day. There was a minor chip in the windshield. I made an appt and they replaced the whole window at no cost. The repair guy, Travis, kept me updated and informed of the process. No complaints about this spot!
I have purchased many vehicles in my life and this was by FAR the worst experience I have ever had. Not even a Thank You or a hand shake after I purchased the vehicle. It was delivered to me, COVERED in dust on the inside and out. Certainly was not cleaned or detailed before delivery. Then! They have a Hassle Free/non negotiable price tags. Which is absolutely ridiculous, when they are asking 20k for a 13k car. Do not purchase a vehicle from CarMax. Not professional AT ALL and cost me extra money on getting plates, when I already had replacement Plates. They simply could not figure out the paperwork. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE Service. Steer Clear of CarMax if you can.
I bought a new vehicle elsewhere but was only offered $500 trade in for my old car at said dealership. I then got a $750 offer from Basil Resale. Carmax gave me $1,500 for my vehicle, which I believe to be a fair price compared to the other lowball offers. I worked with Daniel and he was very, very helpful and professional. It feels like this place doesnt mess around with sales tactics or negotiating, and just goes by true market value. Take it or leave it style.
Great place to buy a car. No hidden bs between departments. All financing options, extended warranty cost numbers displayed on screen for you to see at all times. Didn’t have to waste an entire day to shop for a car. In and out in a matter of a few hours with no appointment during a busy day. Very friendly and courteous staff members.
The best car experience I’ve ever had! It’s so easy to look, test drive and get approved. Everyone there is super nice and they try their hardest to get you in a vehicle. Also there are so many options online and different ways to go about your purchase, you could definitely get whatever type of vehicle you’re looking for!
I was very surprised at how quick and easy the entire process was. Especially during the Covid crisis. I made an appointment, completed all of the car info online, and spent maybe 20 min at Carmax taking off plates, signing paperwork, and then getting a check. Very convenient and we received what we were hoping to get for our van!
I do not recommend dealing with Carmax under any circumstances the local sales team is great but the people in Richmond and the accounting people are cheats. They are are disconnected and arrogant. We purchased a car through Carmax and thought it was a done deal. Unfortunately to our surprise 60 days after the deal was done, and The original contracts were signed Carmax hadn’t deposit the letter of credit from the bank which had a 30 day expiration. When they did finally decide to deposit the letter of credit to purchase the car the bank said it was past the 30 days and it was no longer valid. Carmax refused to cooperate with the bank to do another contract and threatened to have the car repossessed If the bank wouldn’t extend the original payment . Now I don’t know how many of you have tried to work with banks but they’re not real quick to want to help customers. Even though the customer did everything right. So now were in a position because Carmax didn’t do what they were supposed to do we have to get the bank to make a new contract otherwise they’re going to repossess our car. of course now the interest rates have changed because the original contract was a month ago so do yourself a favor do not buy a car through these people I’ve already got the attorney Looking into them for fraud.
I made an appointment over a week in advance.It was very busy and even though I called in, per the signs in the parking lot, and was told that my presence had been registered, I heard nothing for 30Minutes. I finally went in and was told they didn’t know I was there. All that said, the manager took care of me and was very apologetic. Anyone can have a bad day. I would recommend tightening up the system and when someone makes an appointment and they receive a confirmation email, within that email should be instructions on what to do when you arrive in the parking lot.
I shipped a car out of Doral Florida for $749 and within the week it took to arrive I never got any updates on it. It arrived with no title due to their error, so I couldnt purchase the vechile. I tried to purchase a 2nd vechile from then and they gave me 0 eta on when the vechile will arrive or any updates. Taking my money elsewhere. Serious lack of communication and willingness to help.

Had a great experience buying car with CarMax. Test drove 2 vehicles. 1st one wasnt for me. CarMax had know problem getting the 2nd for me to test drive. They also gave me a great deal on my trade in car. Liked that Brandon took us through every step of the process. I would recommend CarMax to whoever is looking to purchase a car. 2 thumbs up.
When I first began looking for a new preowned vehicle, I never even knew about Carmax. Not only did I find the exact vehicle I was looking for (I really liked the website and the amount of detailed information provided), but the price was very reasonable. The service from the very start, when I worked with a Rep and had the vehicle shipped from another state, to the sales and finance teams, to processing my trade-in and up the final paperwork, was all professional and excellent. Bought my new 2018 Maxima; was happy UNTIL they only gave me one key on the way out; ACTUALLY while I was walking to the vehicle!!; then the seatbelt warning light wont go off; have to bring vehicle back for two issues they should have solved before selling it; did I mention the pandemic so not wanting to go/touch/deal with people/things unnecessarily??; THEN they give me a #@*^ing MINIVAN for a loaner!!! Seriously??? NOT good customer service so far...
The sold me a car that’s a lemon!!! I had this car for under 2yrs and it’s been doing nothing but having problems! From transmission ,motor , electrical problems. They are very unprofessional, don’t explain warranty they talk u into !!! The mechanic doesn’t check your car he tells h nothing wrong and give u back your car, then I broke down!!!! I have been looking for a wrangler for years. I finally found one Four and amazing on the Carmax site in Rochester and they shipped it to the Buffalo location for me to test drive.There was actually a discrepancy with the online price, however Brian the general manager reached out to me before I even came in to test drive and apologized profusely and said that they would actually meet me in the middle.I thought this was absolutely fair And decided to buy the vehicle. The process was very smooth and easy I doubt with Audie and he was so nice and helpful through the whole process. Carmax gives every car a 90 day warranty.One month I’m very happy with my purchase :)

It truly was a easy, clear and honesh car buying experience.Our rep Matt was very helpful, patient, no-presuure and and answered all our questions. Unlike the other online auto dealer we were looking at (Vroom), Matt did not force us to go with their financing (which had higher interest rate than local banks). He provided all necessary documentation to make outside financing work. Over all, CarMax is the place to go if you want a good car and have a pleasant car buying experience. And a shout out to Matt as well.
In August of 2020, I began the process to purchase a 2017 Kia Sportage at the Amherst NY store of CarMax. The car was to be shipped from Maryland at a cost of $200. It took a long time, but on 9/12/2020, we purchased the vehicle, traded in our old vehicle with a written document stating that we would receive our registration and title via CarMax. It is now October 27, 2020. The temporary registration is expired. I contacted the Mgr. of Amherst who told me the registration was on hold from the Maryland office and he reissued the temp. registation with dates crossed out, hand-written to extend the registration until December 10. I contacted the DMV in NYS because I read that you cannot extend a temp. registration. However, I expressed my concern to both the DMV, which is checking into it and to the Mgr. CarMax, Amherst. I am uncomfortable with the legality of the actions. To date, I have an expired registration, no title and my DMV has my old car registered to me. The dealership in Maryland has been clearly negligent in their responsibilities to provide ethical business practices and I am considering filing a formal complaint against CarMax both in Maryland and NYS with State Attorney Generals Offices with the intent of pursuing a class-action lawsuit in both states.
I wasnt sure what to expect from CarMax. I never purchased a vehicle online before. The process was pretty smooth at first. I prequalified for a loan for an F150 located in Cleveland. I was contacted and asked to call back regarding the terms of my loan. I spoke with someone who quoted me a rate of 4.34% for 72 months through Chase. Chase said I would need to put down $1224. I agreed. Carmax told me my monthly payment would be $535 per month. I asked if that was with Erie County sales tax included. I was told that would be the price, period. I said Id like to move forward and test drive the truck. Carmax then transferred the truck from Cleveland to Buffalo. I received a text a few days later saying it had arrived. Initially, the bank came back with a higher rate when I came in. Thanks to Grant at Carmax, he continued to fight for me and work with the lender and was able to get the original rate back. Very happy with the purchase so far. Ask for Grant. Hell take good care of you.
This has been my second time getting a vehicle from Carmax and I’ve always left happy. Purchasing a car can be a long process, but at Carmax it’s painless. My salesperson Gregory was just awesome. He was attentive to what I was looking and didn’t push just to make a sale. I would definitely recommend Carmax to anyone looking to purchase a vehicle.
Grate people to deal with really friendly I just dont think the checked everything before given me my car like a normal tune up the oil was dark the transmission fluid was low my steering wheel controls did not work and the radio buttons didnt work I got my own plug and play radio and I found out someone had cut and spliced all my factory wires
2 issues. 1st I had them bring a jeep from other state but end up buying a different jeep from them but I still had to pay the charges $300. 2nd they said they do 100+ some point check up before selling but the jeep that I bought needs breaks within first 1000 miles not satisfied.
I was not looking forward to going through the process of buying a new car, but Sheldon at Carmax was great!!!! from beginning to end I cant say enough about what an easy and smooth experience I had. I highly recommend checking out Carmax if youre in the market for a new car.
This has to be the absolute worse experience ever!!! My car has been serviced multiple times since I’ve bought the car 6 months ago!!! They charged me $500 for a repair they told me the 99.99% sure was the issue just to turn around to say that it wasn’t the issue and that they had to charge me $1500 for something else I will never ever recommend anyone to purchase a car from them ever
The prices are okay but make sure you look over the vehicle good. A lot of the vehicles were previously rentals which I am not very hot on.. also there are no price negotiationIm just not used to that I guess but they have a good selection and they are pleasure to work with
Did not enjoy shopping here at all. The mechanics broke my windows switch they didn’t replace any of the things I asked them too. The cabin air filter was so dirty I was embarrassed when I changed it in front of my wife who told me not to get the car from CarMax they didn’t give me information on where and how to make payments........ just not happy with them at all for my first car
I’ll order Lexus From them online they ran my credit five×1st the phone people and then when you go to the dealership they run it again don’t understand why I had a car not even 24 hours in the next day is in the shop still in the shop yes they gave me a loaner but I’d even get a chance to enjoy the car and my first Payment is up didn’t even have the car a day All I’m saying is if you get a car from him make sure that you know his fix it’s like they’re selling bro cars and they fix it after they get you to make the payment

2021-11-22I traded in a 2017 Toyota 86 and purchased a 2015 Mustang Ecoboost Premium with the Performance Package (including leather Recaro seats) this August. The whole experience went smoothly and professionally. I had the car transferred to the Buffalo store from Texas and was able to test drive and buy it a day after it arrived.A few days after I brought it home I noticed that it appeared to have some hail damage as well as some damage left after the vinyl stripes were removed. I contacted them and Grant, the manager, spoke with me and told me that they would make it right.I highly recommend them for a car purchase, especially if you are a motor head like me and can appreciate the fact that they can pretty much get you any car through their vast number of stores.

2022-06-11We were there for over five hours the representative that we were dealing with was awesome however she was new to the state of New York so did not really know the laws like I said she was great but her coworkers were refusing to help her so we ended up leaving once everybody else was closing and we did not get our car detailed. We’ve called twice now and try to set up an appointment to take the car back up and have it detailed but we have yet to receive a response. Very disappointing spending as much as we did on a car and choosing to go with you your company it would be much appreciated if we could get our car detailed as that is part of the purchasing agreement.

2022-06-01It was so easy to sell with car max. I put my cars information online, got an offer, and made an appointment for later that week. The appointment took 1 hour and they gave me the same offer, no changes even after seeing some minor scrapes and scratches to the bumper. It was literally the easiest car selling experience ever and I would recommend anyone to try it out!

Customer service was very good ,I was seen on time and numerous people checked in on my waiting for.a final quote . The offer for my car was very reasonable and walking out with a check in under 90 minutes was a plus. I would highly recommend CarMax.

2022-04-25Very smooth and transparent transaction. Only real issue was with getting the payoff information from the credit union.It was very difficult for me to come in and perform the transaction during the hours that my Credit Union was open. The lien holder on my vehicle that I have used for many years is a small office and does not have online access to the accounts. No one at the store would call my credit union during hours to get the payoff so I could come in during on traditional banking hours to sell you my car

2022-04-16So far, so good. Fantastic place to buy a car. Friendly and great service. Picking up a car on Wed.Picked the car up with no issues. Paperwork went smoothly and we couldn’t be happier with the process. The only negative is that it seems too easy. If you aren’t comfortable doing this transaction online, you may worry a bit, but they are really helpful here. Next time we’re looking for a used car, we’ll stop here first.

Made an appointment the following day to verify and have the vehicle inspected, was greeted upon arrival and taken care of in a very timely fashion . the vehicle was inspected and the offer that was made online was also offered and was accepted . walked out at the end with a check in hand. Again great experience
