I never leave reviews, but l feel obligated to share my experience here, bc ppl need to be held protected from dynamic and atmosphere of young 20 somethings feeling invincible bc their gfs work at a bar. We are new to Massapequa, my brother in law knowing the owners insisted we come here for a few after dinner down the street. Mostly for the Irish network. We spent the night hanging out and interacting with the other patrons, with no conflict. Randomly, the bartenders boyfriend approached my husband for an altercation not once but twice. While me and my husband were talking he approached him, getting in his face. They had not spoken until this point. Had my husband not held his composure, a fight would of ensured. After the second time, the bartender told us her boyfriend accidentally bumped into my husband and due to my husbands reaction we needed to leave. We separated the boyfriend from us with no altercation, and agreed to pay our bill and leave. The bartender insisted it was an accident, so my husband offered to buy her boyfriend a quick drink to make amends as we were leaving, though we knew it was not the truth. We just assumed he was young and drunk, and he Would accept a drink and move on. It was a gesture for our family with the connection to the owner. This boyfriend and friends response was to cause more of an altercation, and the boyfriends tried to fight my husband. At this point I had a convo with the bartender Ally, as we were closing out. She screamed and seemed irrational but said she would watch the cameras the next day. My sister told her standard is to separate personal with work, since our family is in the bar industry and if her boyfriend was not at her job, this would not have happened. Next thing, a dark haired woman w a company shirt, also clearly w her boyfriend started calling me and my sister names as we were closing out our bill. My sister retaliated. Next thing, the dark haired woman’s boyfriend tried attacking my sister, with Ally’s boyfriend. At first I assumed maybe he was trying to talk, but he continued to try to get to my sister to physically assault her. A few other patrons, a couple in their 60s, we’re doing everything in they could to keep the men away. Both men were looking for a fight randomly and their gfs were along for the ride. They had a pack mentality and both men as well as the dark haired women were trying to fight us physically. This is all clearly visable by the cameras installed in the bar Ally promised to watch. I share this experience bc these employees should not have their boyfriends attacking patrons of the bar, with their help and support. The cops were called, and after explaining what happened while waiting for an Uber, we were thanked for not escalating and being physical, bc my husband would of harmed the bartenders boyfriend. To the owner of this establishment, should you keep these women as employees, protect the safety of patrons coming to you bar, do not allow their partners there. If that is not feasible, you need to hire new staff. They are young adults looking to fight strangers, feeling protected by their girlfriends job. It’s a lawsuit waiting to happen. Only go here if your looking to brawl.
Although my last name is Carney, I have no affiliation with this establishment. I did decide to go here because of the name and was not disappointed. Great food and atmosphere with live music and awesome server. Exactly what I look for in an Irish pub. I will be returning often.
Local pub to me in Amityville, it’s always a great time and I love the food specifically the chicken curry and Thai calamari, however there are other great options. I had a birthday party there and the owner and his significant other made sure my 18 person group was well taken care of and we weren’t waiting on anything. Pricing was fair and they put us in our own section on the stage away from everyone. Lots of room and pretty wide open making it ideal during COVID times and they take all precautions and procedures seriously and make it clean for everyone to feel safe.
Threw a birthday party here and had 33 guests, just before Christmas. The owner gave us a great private space and put together a special menu. We had a wonderful dinner and a great time. The prices were very reasonable and service was great. Very happy that we chose Carneys and will be returning soon.
Delicious food, great atmosphere, and actual Ireland natives in their employ! Doesnt get much more authentic than that. Our waitress was from just outside Belfast, and she was fantastic. We were told that people drive from miles around for the Reuben, and we found out why. Just a top notch establishment through and through.
One of the best Irish bar/restaurants in the Babylon area. Food was great service was above expectations. Beer was cold and crisp. Definitely will be returning. Irish nachos were out of this world. Live music was great.Amanda was our waitress and went above and beyond to make our experience great.
This place is great ! I came in and Brittany was very welcoming along with the owner Pete. I sat there and a couple of patrons came in very respectable! Was treated very well with respect happy hour is great if ur a beer drinker and want to grab a bite to eat. This place is in top 3! Atmosphere is cool soccer game was on. Definitely coming back☺️☺️❤️
My wife and I just had our sons christening dinner over here at Carneys Irish Pub And Restaurant. Just have to say the owner Peter is a stand up guy. He worked with us on everything and even threw some extras in for us. Everyone that works there is on point with helping out and serving. Both sides of our familys said they liked the food not one complaint. I highly recommend here for a party or even just a night out. They have live entertainment there as well to make the experience even better. Cant say enough great things about here.
Food is amazing. The table service was awful both times I came. Took way to long to order. Finally ordered appetizers then another long wait to order entrees. Appetizers were all gone before entrees were ordered. Had to call server over multiple times to refill drinks. One person at our table ordered dessert then the server walked off. Had to call her back so the rest of the table could order dessert. On the plus side the food is really good. This was my second visit and both times the food was great and the service was awful. I will return as the food greatly outweighed the poor service
Went to the pub on Monday night - it was raining and the place was a little quiet. Wonderful atmosphere. The bartender was very welcoming and we took a table next to a group of people that was at the tail end of their meal. The room was nice and cozy. My companion had the leek potato soup while I had the scotch eggs. The soup was AMAZING, but the serving was small - more like what would be a cup portion in any other place, for the price of a bowl. The scotch eggs were nice enough. For the mains, My companion had the Galway chicken with rice, while I had the Fish and Chips - very nice. The portions are a little smaller than you will find in other places. The flavors were wonderful. We were actually discussing future visits to the place at this point. So, we decided to try out the desserts. My companion had the Guiness icecream while I had the chocolate mousse cake - all down hill from there. At some point between our appetizers and mains, the people on the table next to us left. I think they switched off the heating after that. As we waited for our desserts, the room got colder and colder. My companion had to wear her jacket. I looked around the room, and my eyes fell on the heating controller - it was reading 64! No wonder we were starting to shiver. The desserts came and what a disappointment. The icecream was grainy and the mousse cake was frozen. What a waste of calories! We had ordered coffees with our dessert - it never came, and we ended up canceling the order. We were having a really nice time till the end. The fact that they did not consider us worthy enough to keep us warm said it all. The terrible deserts just underlined the problem. Not going back!
The waitress was very friendly and helpful. I had cornbeef and cabbage which was ok. Their bread delivery never came in the day we were there with a rather large group, the manager wasnt in, and the owner didnt appear to have any contingencies for having no bread. I may give it another try but only if Im in the area.
Was there before, but can not wait to go tonight 12/ 28/18. There is a gay band playing called 2U. Happy to see them come out here to our area. They are very popular in the community. The lead man is Joe, and if you give him enough booze well you never know. anyway. this is a nice place soon to be even better.
I came here because I was craving a good shephards pie. My family had never really tried Irish cuisine, and they werent entirely sure what to order. That being said, the food and drinks were okay but the service was really good which always makes a world of difference. I wouldnt come back for the shephards pie, but I would come back for the service, drinks, and to try something else!
Ive been coming here for a while and the service and food and drinks are always great.. Lately I feel like theres no one coming here anymore. Everytime Im there its dead.. Favorite bartender Lynn hasnt been there. Idk whats Going on but I still say this is one of my favorite local bars and will continue to come here.
My experience here was fantastic. The food was excellent. We ordered the Scotch Egg which was tasty. The outside was super crispy. We had the Irish Onion Soup which was great. Not too salty like you see at other places. My husband had the Shamrock sandwich. The chicken was fried perfectly. I had the Danny OBoy burger. It was HUGE. Could only eat half. The meat was flavored nicely. The fries we crispy but not burnt. While we were there, Carneys was hosting a private party but their staff were still very attentive. We will be going back to see The Wolfetones on March 2nd.
The owner greeted us and brought us to our table the service was great ,the food very authentic and delicious,Guiness was served at perfect temperature ,live music , Friendly environment.Staff was atentive and owner came to make sure we were happy with our meal, will be comming back.😃
The food was nothing special but the worst thing was the music was so loud we couldn’t talk - on a Sunday night with very few people in the place. We asked twice to have it turned down but it didn’t change.I asked for rigatoni with a plain tomato sauce and got a rich cream sauce. Not a good experience.
Was looking for a nice quiet place for a future lunch with family & friends. Decided to try Carneys stopped in at noonish. Very impressed with cleanliness and atmosphere. The menu looked promising. We has 2 pints of Coors and 2 bottles of bud light (1 cold glass).. Asked for the bill $24 !!! No food. $6.50 & $5.50 for domestic pint and bottle... When did amityville village become Manhattan or citifield ???Small wonder the bar was MT..

2022-02-12Came here a couple months ago, meant to leave a review and remembered just now. If anyone deserves a great review it is this place - warmest staff I have met in ages and fantastic food, especially the Irish egg rolls and the quiet man - an insanely delicious beef and cheese, mushroom and onion sandwich. Portions are big, drinks are plentiful, menu is varied. What more can you ask for!We came in by chance and at the end of the meal the owner and the whole bar waved us goodbye like old friends.Absolutely worth a drop in, if I ever pass through again I will be back!

2022-06-06This place was a pleasant unexpected find during my day trip to Amityville. The bartender/server was so warm and welcoming, professional and kind and her service was just outstanding (I visited around 8:30pm 06/04/22). The food was absolutely delicious and full of flavour, I cannot recommend the wings enough (I wish I could find wings like that back home in New Zealand). I also got the fried chicken schnitzel sandwich and this was also equally delicious! An excellent range of drinks are on offer and the atmosphere is calm and friendly. Thank you so much for making my final stop on the way to the train station one to remember, I will talk and recommend this place for years to come!

It was so pleasant that i visited the place many other times due to the welcoming employees. Respect, dedication, good food and always a happy atmosphere around me. My husband and I were very happy with the service.

2022-05-01What can say about the flavorless Shepard pie. Had no flavor what so ever, even with gravy and being cooked in the ground beef fat (hamburger meat, not real beef). Originally ordered corned beef, and they ran out of corned beef. Really disappointed in the food when trying to find a new place to eat. Could have been better. Preztal app. Was really good, really crispy, just season your meat.

2019-10-16The food was delicious, the specialty wing sauce was one of the best Ive had and the pretzel was huge! Not like any other Ive tried. Went for some drinks and appetizers, but would return to try more food. While the food was great, it was the friendly staff that made the experience. Both the bartender and our server were exceptional!

2022-03-15Always loved the food at this place and the service is always great but my last visit the service was superb I had a new waitress named Lacy who is the best Ive ever had and she is a true professional. She was on top of my drink order and my food came out faster than it ever has before . A true professional and the people i was with did NOT make it easy on her but she handled it like a pro. We really couldnt have made it more difficult for her but sure enough she didnt even flinch. Id apologize to her in person but I figure this post says more than the apology. Ill come back again and again for this server and ps the Irish egg rolls were amamzing

2020-07-02Solid neighborhood Irish restaurant and bar. Classic, well prepared Irish lunch and dinner offerings with a few other options if thats not what youre in the mood for. More than just pub grub; full entrees are offered in the main dining room which is large and accommodates large groups as well as tables for two.The owner personally greets patrons and the wait staff was prompt and courteous. The bar is separated from the dining area but the live music can be enjoyed at the bar and heard equally well while dining.
