EDIT: I left Carpenter Village after three years living there, and have spent some time reflecting on my time. I am downgrading my review from 5 stars to 2 stars for the following reasons. 1) I lived in two separate units and had constant maintenance issues that were brushed off by the team. This included a leaking ceiling that lead to a water damage and hole in the bedroom ceiling, a dishwasher that wouldnt drain completely and lead to excessive mold growth, and lack of properly closing sliding doors that cause literal snow to build up inside the apartment bedroom. 2) There were multiple property managers during my time there with poor communication skills that lead to problems. The most frustrating of which was when I moved out during the move-out inspection the manager told me the apartment looked great and I would receive my full security deposit minus the fee noted in the lease. However, I did not receive the amount discussed back and the mailed paperwork said there were issues never talked about and I could have fixed myself to get my deposit back.I do stand by my statements that the residents were generally quiet and friendly. The pool was nice when open. And the snow-inside-the-apartment did lead to crazy high electric heat bills that were more than a 3 bedroom house. If the convenience of the location is ideal to you, then the apartments are fine. In my opinion, I have had a subsequent apartment that was equally convenient but more affordable and maintenance was far more helpful. I think that I was originally in denial when I wrote my review because I didnt want to believe I was facing these issues in my home._________________________________Carpenter Village is generally quiet and residents are friendly. The staff is kind and helpful. The grounds keeping team is prompt with snow removal and the accessibility of an on-site pool is amazing. Only downside was our unit has electric heat which can be tough with the big windows. My roommate and I renewed our lease because we were happy here. Would recommend!

This was a nice place to live (2 years). The staff is quick to respond to issues. The parking lot is well maintained during the winter months. I had no issues with noise or neighbors. My favorite feature is the storage space in the basement. it was large enough for me to keep tools and several extra boxes of miscellaneous stuff.

I am a current resident that resides in one of the penthouse apartments. My apartment is the size of a house!! I love my place and my doggie Bebe loves it here too. To have the pool, tennis courts and shopping plaza so close is absolutely amazing!! Our rental manager is just wonderful and is always smiling! I love it here and I plan on being here for a very long time!!!!

***Edited 7/3/19. It seems shady that this horrible apartment complex has seven new 5 star reviews in the past week after years of having a Google rating of below 3/5.ong review from a tenant who has lived here for too long.Starting off with a positive: I cannot say enough good things about the maintenance here! When our shower broke, and the water would not shut off, maintenance arrived within an hour to fix it (during off hours) - despite the rude woman who answered the phone during non-business hours. When our heat wouldnt work in frigid temperatures, maintenance arrived either the day the work order was created or the first thing the next morning. It was very helpful of them to do their best every time there was an issue with the heat (there have been at least 10 times the heat would not work during the winter). When the dishwasher became loose because it was not initially properly secured to the cabinetry, maintenance was there for repairs. When the main door to the building wouldnt shut, maintenance was there for repairs. When the air conditioning stopped working during a summer heat wave of 90+ degree weather, maintenance was there for repairs. When the garbage disposal broke, causing water to soak into my belongings underneath the sink, maintenance was there for repairs. When the bathroom fan broke and made a loud grinding noise instead of being a fan, maintenance was there for repairs.Maintenance has been amazing. Unfortunately, all of these issues fell within a 10-month span. More unfortunately, these issues all happened in one of the newest buildings.Management here is awful, and they do not care about you or your concerns. Despite paying over $1,100 per month, management here does not value you as a tenant. They treat you as an inconvenience. In conclusion, do not rent from Carpenter Village. Your fancy amenities are cheap and easily breakable (and they will break), and management does not care. Even the great maintenance team here cannot fix the cheap, rude, and apathetic management.

*EDIT in response to managements comment. We only preferred a different building because of the constant, significant noise from neighboring apartments in our original building. We didnt want to move to a smaller, more expensive apartment, but we were left with no other option. Also, the issues were never resolved. Our heat never consistently functioned. Instead, the weather got warmer, so we no longer needed heat. I wouldnt quite call that a resolution. I write this review because Im someone who reads and considers the input from other Google reviewers before picking a bar, restaurant, hotel, tourest attraction, etc. and I just hope I can prevent at least one person from making the same mistake my fiancé and I did by choosing to live here. Also, I find it suspicious that Carpenter Village has had so many 5-star reviews as of late! Much like the misleading response to my review, I suspect management is behind the recent influx of underserved praise for these terrible apartments.. which is nice segue into my original review:DO NOT RENT FROM CARPENTER VILLAGEAll of the reviews regarding the horribleness of the rental office/upper management, and the deplorable condition of the apartments themselves are spot on.First, we resided in Building 3, which we found out after we moved in, is a smoking building notorious for noise problems. The walls were so thin, we could hear our neighbors conversations. Below us, we heard a dog barking all morning and day. Acknowledging that such a level of noise was unacceptable, Carpenter Village allowed us to move to Building 10, for an increase in rent up to $1,115 (even though we went from a two bedroom to a one bedroom with a den).Sure, Building 10 is a little quieter, but EVERYTHING has broken. When we first moved in, the apartment had not been cleaned. We found food under the bed and in the cabinets. Our AC broke in the summer, and our heat randomly stops working. This has been an ongoing problem for several months, but still has not been fixed. It is now mid-March, 2019, and the problem began in December, 2018. Our garbage disposal broke and leaked into everything we stored under the kitchen sink, the shower faucet broke and the water would not turn off, and the bathroom fan does not work. As a result, the bathroom and the area surrounding it are quick to smell of mildew. In fact, our clean clothes that come out of the closet or dresser drawers are often damp. Gross. The apartment has a fireplace, which looks nice, but it must be clogged; our apartment filled with smoke and set off the fire alarm the one time we used it. The toilet is not affixed to the wall, and all bifold doors in the apartment have fallen off their track at least once. Also, there is a small washer and dryer in the building, but each machine costs $1.50 and one dryer doesnt work. So we generally end up paying $4.50 per small load of laundry.Ive lived in several rental communities in the capital region, and this apartment complex is by far the most expensive AND has the worst apartments.

After Ten years Ive found that Carpenter Village is a very nice quite apartment complex. Maintenance guys keep the grounds clean and buildings clean and are timely when called to repair or replace something. Rental Manager is very nice and professional and loves dogs. Also very convenient with a plaza with restaurants and a laundry mat and a grocery store right across the street.

Very disappointing! Under new management since previous reviews. Manager, Susan, is okay and friendly. Head Maintenance guy is the rudest I have met. He seems to be instantly pissed off the second you need something fixed or have an issue. However, they have been fast to repair things needed so far. The grounds are covered in dog poop because no one is competent enough to have a dog let alone pick up after it. My husband and I have lived here a month now and I am ready to move just due to the number of times we have stepped in dog poop and brought it in the house and car. The manager cant do much about it since the only option at this point is to not allow dogs at all. We are very disappointed. I dont recommend this place.

I lived here for a year and I do not have enough nice things to say about the complex. The management is great and the tenants are very nice. I have stayed in other area apartments and they do not compare to this one. The location is quiet and the dog owners are very respectful. It is the best place in the area for dog owners! Management goes above and beyond to assist everyone.

Carpenter village is a great complex. The apartments are a great price for Guilderland. I was asked to post a review because I’ve told katlin on numerous occasions how much I like it here. She does a great job running the complex along with the head of maintenance, Pete.

Albany Management is hands down the absolute worst company to rent from. My entire year trapped in a lease with them was nothing short of horrific. My unit at Carpenter Village had mold and leaks and even mice entering through an old chimney - that went unaddressed the whole year despite my maintenance requests. Every single fixture and piece of building material in the apartments is the cheapest stuff out there and the appliances are old and filthy. But by far the worst part about living here is the way they enter your unit unannounced and with NO NOTICE, CONSTANTLY. I came home from work one night to my entire apartment trashed by their outside contractors (whom they provide a copy of your key to!!). When I went to the management/leasing office with my concerns they laughed in my face - the office staff is unknowledgeable and downright rude. In the one year I spent at Carpenter Village, there were 4 different property managers - so much turnover. The higher management at the Albany Management office are cruel and evasive. Please save yourself a lease term of total misery and wasted money and rent from any other company.
