Casa Restaurant in other cities:
Wow! I was in the mood for some good food and Casa restaurant really hit the spot. It was our first time trying out this spot and we thought it was very filling and had an excellent selection.I do recommend getting reservations online or call in advance for seating options. The staff were very kind and spoke Portuguese if you were curious. They do offer some vegan options and have a full bar.If you are looking to try out new cuisine, and have some classic Brasilian food this is a great place to take a friend, or a group.
Quaint quiet restaurant in a really nice part of town with fantastic brazilian food! We had a craving for brazilian food and happened to find Casa. I ordered the feijoada which is a traditional brazilian dish and the portions were huge. On top of that the ordered the steak and yuca fries. All of the dishes were perfectly done and just the right combination of flavours! If youre craving brazilian food I highly recommend giving this place a shot!
A really special place. We were seated in front of an iconic West Village window frame and had a perfect view of the rarefied street scape. Service was friendly and discreet. Caipirinhas delicious and broad wine selection. Food was flawless with many Brazilian staples. I want to make this a regular go-to.
Felt compelled to write something after my experience tonight. It wasn’t all bad - the servers were nice enough, not overly enthusiastic but as another reviewer put perfectly, “discreet”. The ambience is nice, pretty quiet. The food is WAY overpriced for the smallest croquettes and coxinhas I’ve ever seen. The picanha was very very over cooked - way past well done (even though I asked for medium rare), to the point where it was hard to cut. Also as many reviewers pointed out, tiiiiiny portions. Overall the food is pretty authentic and tasty, just don’t expect normal sized foods and don’t get the picanha. The octopus was great! But I really can’t get past what I feel is the worst steak I’ve ever had.And be careful, even though I ordered several things to share because I like to eat “family style”, they charged $5 for each entrée we shared, without even letting us know. All in all we spent $100 on food (no alcohol) and left hungry.
OMG what a gem! The food was amazing and inventive! The drinks were so good. I lived in miami and never loved the Caipirinhas there BUT they were so delicious here. The cheese bread? My god the cheese bread! We are 2 orders!!The staff was super attentive and fun! Definitely going back soon
Been here dozens of times... best Brazilian in NYC. Everything tastes homemade, and their yucca fries are the best Ive ever had. Cant go wrong with steak/picanha, fish, tapioca crepes, pdq, rice and beans, really anything.Dessert is especially good... love the homemade flan and corn ice cream. Caipirinhas strong and tasty.Service is top notch and the wait staff are friendly and get to know repeat customers.Highly recommend! Cozy but also great outdoor seating.
The food is good but the staff is so amazing here: so kind and gracious and friendly- there were a couple times we were waiting for water or check but it wasn’t long and every request was fulfilled generously. The coxhinha appetizer was so so good: all fresh, crispy and warm. The Berkshire pork chop main course was cooked perfectly- crispy brown far along the edges (hate if you want but it’s delicious) with tender, juicy meat. I picked up the bone and honestly ate every piece of meat off of it. The Farofa was flavorful and mixed nicely with the rice and beans. You may need to ask for a second bowl of beans, it seemed a bit small but i was also very hungry. A very minor item that really packed a delicious punch was the chilé(?) green sauce- the perfect blend of spice and flavor. The appetizer portion sizes seem a bit small but the main course was plenty and very delicious. Price is not low but the food quality is well above average and very in line with what you get. We left feeling completely satisfied but not stuffed and heavy. Great spot, highly recommend and will definitely return.
Came for Valentines Day. Food tasted great, but the service was some of the worst weve had before. We waited at our table for over 10 minutes with no water or bread. When the server finally arrived, he introduced himself to us and the table next to us at the same time, and then proceeded to take our order together as if we were a single table. For the price, you expect some degree of quality service. He also got in a fight with what seemed to be the manager right in front of us. The restaurant also advertised a four course meal, with bread being one of the courses...
Terribly slow service for mediocre food (1.5 hour wait for the food). Would not recommend.Owner/manager Jupira Lee was the worse part of the evening because she left a bad taste in our entire partys mouth as she was brazenly unapologetic. She admittedly seated 70+ patrons all at the same time when the restaurant usually accommodates around 30. Absolutely terrible representation of NYC and W.Village.
The servers were VERY NICE and VERY ACCOMMODATING.Party of 9 with small children. They let us order apps and didnt insist that we order main courses on a Friday night. This is the ONLY reason Im giving them 3 stars. But the food was ONE star.I got the filet minion with yucca and rice. $39.99The steak was well cooked but too salty to eat.I was starving and for that $ I forced myself to eat it.The rice and yucca were dry. They forgot my drink order but DID apologize.I wont complain about the slow service because it was very very busy, and of course they dont just cook for the people in the restaurant but also deliveries.I think he whole Doordash, Ubereats or whatever is ruining the in-restaurant experience in NYC.Restaurants should focus on the people who make the EFFORT TO GO OUT TO EAT.If a restaurant wants to do the whole app, take out thing, for people who want to stay home and eat in their underwear, the restaurant should rent an off site industrial kitchen.Everyone in my party was from out of town. I was trying to show them a good time but was VERY embarrassed by the quality of the food.
The food was good, great feijoada and caipirinhas, but portions were really small. Also, I had the picadinho de picanha which I thought tasted good but was slightly misleading, since it came in some sort of tomato-based sauce, which was not described in the menu. Overall, it was a lovely experience, but I wouldnt come back.
I ate here because the outdoor dining area is pretty, and the restaurant has 2 dollar signs on Google maps. For the cost, the portions were tiny, and the seasoning was off. To me, one dish was too salty, and the other not salty enough. Everything was well cooked however, and I enjoyed the accompanying hot sauces. I think this place should have 3 dollar signs on Google maps.
If you don’t mind waiting 15 + minutes for anyone to come by and take your drink order after you sit down, getting an attitude from your server, not being checked on during your meal and having to get up to ask for silverware, plates or another round of drinks, you may enjoy this place. If any of these things can ruin your dinner, I highly suggest you stay the f#€< away...
Amazing service, tastes, and scene during a global pandemic. This place is an oasis tucked in some very quiet streets in west village. The empanadas were the best I’ve ever had. The tapas, wine, and entrees are creative yet familiar. The service is impeccable. It’s places like this that make 2020 worth it.10/10
It has very authentic menu and food. I believe it has been the best Brazilian food I’ve had outside Brazil. The taste brought me nice memories of home and the experience was great. Some Brazilian restaurants tend to make a bit greasy or salty food, but this was perfect. Well done!
Lovely experience! Staff was friendly and warm. We were seated very quickly even though we arrived early for our reservation!Very nice options on the menu, even some vegan and vegetarian options which is rare for a Brazilian place.Fresh drinks and the Feijoada was so delicious (and very filling) we cleaned our plates!Restaurant was very clean and had a welcoming and uncluttered feel. Looking forward to returning!
Favorite restaurant in all of new york. possibly in the world. Ive been here many times, and every experience has been divine. the food is absolutely incredible, the service kind & professional, and the environment is just beyond. and I must say as a former meat eater, the vegan feijoada is exquisite!!! until next time...
The first time we came, we were already very disappointed by the service we received. We decided to give it another chance since the food is actually good. On our second (and last) visit, the service just got worse. Apparently the bus boy was asked by the server to take our order and he didn’t even try to hide his anger, by rolling his eyes while saying: “ Well,Looks like I got stuck taking your order”.Because we had our hungry boy with us, we decided to just brush this off and stay, we really wanted to just walk out. They are way understaffed and really do not care about their customers. It’s obvious that ownership doesn’t make an effort to properly train or even supervise their staff. To add insult to injury, there were drinks from another table on our check, it took a long time for them to correct it and when they finally corrected the check, it came with the tip added, we were only a party of 3.For a much better experience in a Brazilian restaurant, try Berimbau not too far from them.
We popped in to Casa Brazilian after we tried to get into another local restaurant but it was shut. We just wanted a spot of lunch and a glass of wine. What a surprise and a real treat. Lupi (forgive the spelling), our server, was a real star and took us through the menu explaining the dishes and telling us what were good sharing plates.Everything without exception was delicious and presented beautifully. The warm neighbour feel of this restaurant was just what we needed after the hustle and bustle of a morning in NY.I cant recommend this place highly enough - well done Casa, one of our NY culinary highlights!
Starters such as the shrimp in garlic sauce and the croquettes were all quite delicious. Main courses were a mixed bag. The stroganoff was very good but the filet mignon was just average and a bit dry. The sea bass and shrimp entree were fine but the quality of the base was not great and it was all smothered by a tomato-based sauce that did nothing to enhance the fish. It was served with plain white rice and chayote which is generally a bit tasteless anyway. We were suggested to have the coconut pudding dessert and we found it extremely sweet and could not take more than one or two bites.Service is pleasant but not fantastic. When they saw that we were not eating the desert and I told the wait staff that it was so very sweet, you would think that they would remove it from the bill but they made no mention of it.
Initially, we were going to a Brazilian restaurant up the street but they were packed. Last minute we decided to come here and booked a reservation 10 minutes before showing up. This is an upscale restaurant Brazilian and the food was perfect. My date had the bobó de camarão and I had the frango com quiabo. Her shrimp portions were generous and purée was consistent in texture. My chicken and okra was great as well. We were both scraping our plates at the end. And I can’t forget the yucca fries. They tasted just like french fries with a more exotic twist. For my first time trying Brazilian food, I’m happy to say I’m pleased.
The food here is exquisite, its been my very favorite place in NYC for a couple years now. So my partner and I were really unhappy tonight when, a few tables down from us, the cigarettes came out. It was 15 minutes before closing, but we were still enjoying our meal. Our clothes and hair now smell like smoke. It was a disgusting and disappointing way to end our date, I hope the people running the restaurant rethink things.
The food and service was great. Everything tasted delicious and the atmosphere was light and relaxing. However, this place is on the pricier side for the fare they serve. While there are many Brazilian staple dishes that are on the fancier side this restaurant offers dishes that would be more likely classified as street food. You can get a much better deal going to one of the Brazilian markets in Astoria if you are in the mood for pao de queijo, coxhinas or feijoada. However, if you are in the mood for something fancier and some strong caipirinhas this is the place for you!
General:The restaurant is situated on a quiet street corner, a block or two off from busy 7th Ave South. We had reservations for a Wednesday night for a party of four, but they had an extra table as well. Expect to spend roughly two hours here, so its probably best to make reservations given the small size of the restaurant.Staff:The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They recommended a few killer apps on the menu, as well as a wine choice. They were attentive and generally pleasant to be around.Food/Drinks:Funny enough, for our party of four, three of us ordered the same item on the menu (rib eye steak) which was cooked to my request. One person got the seafood bowl which was REALLY good (should have gotten that). We shared two bottles of Malbec that was recommended and it was one of the better bottles Ive had in recent memory.Price:Meal cost came out to 70/person with wine and tip, so very fair for a West Village restaurant. Id recommend coming here next time you are in the area, especially on a cold night.
Experienced a very uncomfortable situation when the owner called me up to the cashier and, adopting a very condescending attitude, complained about the low tip my two friends and I had left. Our total check was almost $100, which is not a small amount for us to pay. We are on a budget. Still,I wanted to take my friends to try some good Brazilian food. The experience ended in a very low note, though. We felt insulted and humiliated. This is a quite upscale restaurant where you can often bump into celebrities and I am sure our minimum $15 dollar expected tip would not have made much difference for the personnel there, as I am sure, they must receive generous tips all the time. So,why create such an uncomfortable situation for three customers instead of letting it go? After all, tipping is absolutely at the discretion of the customer. We had had a big meal after all and my friends were very happy with the food and restaurant overall. We were planning to come back soon. Well, not anymore. Both my friend from France and my friend from Trinidad were appalled by the owners behavior. Having just been in France for three weeks now, I agree with my friend that such thing would never happen there. It also made me wonder if I would have faced the same situation if I were not Brazilian or were it not a Brazilian restaurant. Once again, tipping or not or how much is something completely up to the customer. With that attitude, I am afraid the owner and her staff just lost a bunch of customers. But again, its probably ok, because they dont need our money and our low tips.
An intimate dining experience with authentic Brazilian dishes, verified by Brazilian visitors. Choose Casa for that local, good food restaurant that’s frequented by mainly locals.Highly recommend this restaurant for a classy, intimate dinner that’s sure to impress.I’m a local reviewer based in NYC.
I used to be a regular customer, the food is great and the location beautiful.Unfortunately, theyre a non kid friendly restaurant, so if you have an infant that still cant use a regular chair, dont even bother coming here. They dont have high chair, they dont move tables to accommodate the stroller (even during an empty Saturday brunch, with many empty tables), and the staff, who used to be friendly, stair at you with a dislike look because you have a baby with you, and say Im sorry, we cant do much.Im glad theres another great Brazilian restaurant one block down, with highchair, awesome staff and the same great food!
Tasty Brazilian food and delicious cocktails in an intimate setting. We went with a big party (reserved a week in advance) and they actually managed to fit us in, which was impressive given the size. Service is on the slower side, but the atmosphere is so chill that you dont really notice.I recommend the passion fruit caipirinhas to drink, the feijoada as a main course and the cheese bread (best Ive had outside of Brazil!)
This site is my number one restaurant. Of all restaurants I know I love it most. I always suggests to my friends to go to that place. Whenever I feel like having a delicious dinner, this is the place that comes first to my head. superb and all sorts of food and a rich menu.great staff members, and nice ambience. Also important, the tariff is fair. I suggest this place with no doubt.
For those that understand the flavors of Bahia in Brazil, this is as close as you will get in Manhattan. They serve farofa with their moqueca and the passion fruit juice is properly sour. Very quaint place with exactly that West village charm while still staying true to the flavors. Portions arent huge.
Great Brazilian food, genuine tasteAlthough the Brazilian palette can handle more salty food, so have that in mindA bit pricy also...Id say 20% or 30% more expensive then similar places. I guess its premium is the locationFeijoada, National Brazilian dish, was delicious and well done however very underwhelming on the meats. The dish is pork meats floating on beans but there were only 4 pieces.... Again, expensive for what it was....
Real and delicious Brazilian food! Bolinhos de bacalhau, moqueca de mariscos and mousse de maracuja. Wonderful. Very friendly staff with the warmth that only Brazilians have. The only weak point: it can get very loud if a noisy party sits near you. They should install noise reduction panels (as by the way should do 95% of restaurants in NYC)
I come to this special restaurant often as I like the special atmosphere that is part of this place. The crew is awfuly loving and skilfull. The service is absolutely quick. Most important, the food they prepare is great. I visited many times and I was always happy. The rate is reasobable. I highly recommend this restaurant to to all.
I had the caldo verde soup and pão de queijo basket. Both were equally delicious!I also love the intimate atmosphere this restaurant offers, it reminds me of a rural town in Brazil. The music selection was relaxing and also Brazilian. I would come back again for sure!
Let me start by saying - Im Brazilian. Born and raised in Rio. Casa has great food, and it definitely scratched the itch. We ordered the bolinho de bacalhau, frango a passarinho, pão de queijo, feijoada, camarão na moranga, bobó de camarão, and picanha. Everything was delicious, but for me the picanha came out on top. Lots of flavor and very tender! Others at the table ranked things in different order, but honestly, youll probably be happy with anything you order here. The caipirinhas were very good too. The fact that everyone who works there is from Brazil was the cherry on top.
Very delicious Brazilian restaurant in the West Village. Cute environment, and not super crowded when I went. You can find the same food in Queens or Hell’s Kitchen for cheaper prices, but it’s Village restaurant, and the prices are compatible with the neighborhood. Would go again!
So, I’m walking my dog today and see one of the restaurant staff (young man in a “Honey Boy” T-shirt) setting the tables outside... without a mask. Meaning, he was setting silverware, plates and glasses down without a mask before customers were seated. Sure enough... he let out a big old sneeze.Guys, us locals want to support you but you have a responsibility to also take care of us.
This is one of my regular favs in NYC. It is great for a romantic dinner. The food is fresh, simple, and authentic Brazilian - this is where all the Brazilians in NYC go. If the owner Jupira Lee is there you can expect and exceptionally good time as she is the perfect host.
Cozy Brazilian restaurant in the West Village. Big windows show off the very quaint Bedford St and the Edna St. Vincent Mallay house across the street. It fills up during dinner hour so either show up early or make a reservation. Theres a tiny five seat bar area that sometimes has a seat or two available.
Terrible experience. They checked all the boxes of a terrible: poor service, bad food and long waiting. I ate here this week and turned very ill from the food (perhaps food poisoning). The health inspectors should really go there because the place deserves to be shut down. Dont waste your time.
I am a native New Yorker and will keep to the directness of how we are known to be :)Food: Excellent! My favorite is Xinxum de Galinha (North Brazilian [Bahia] chicken and shrimp stew) and Feijoada.Drinks: Great Caipirinhas!Space: This is a very small, cozy, romantic and quaint setting. The beauty of this restaurant is that it has a great selection of the various regional differences of Brazilian cuisine. Most places in NYC are serving Southern style Brazilian food. Great place to bring a date, impress your significant other, or impress your non-Brazilian friends with you knowing where authentic regional Brazilian food is in NYC. (Im Brazilian-American).Scene: Romantic. Date night. Get-togethers.Service: Great! Very courteous & professional.
As a Brazilian, I was very excited the first moments I got to know Casa. We had fun there, even got to meet the owner, thought that would be our spot in NYC. But I have to say, when we went back last couple of times, food is getting smaller and smaller, service is getting poor and slow and price... oh my god!!! It could be a great spot, if it was not so over priced.Even for appetizers, expect to leave there a good amount of dollars...
Brazilian restaurant very cozy. Typical Brazilian music and very good service! Went with friends and we ordered cheese bread, which was made to order, and garlic shrimp and eye (that wonderful seasoning). I asked for the cashew box, but I did not like it. Then I ordered the coconut caipirinha, which was wonderful. For main course I ordered fillet strogonoff, it comes with a fried potato (real potato) which was a delight. My friend ordered shrimp bobo and another moqueca of octopus. We all like it. Dessert ordered milk pudding and a coffee to close. Will definitely be back! And a very important detail. In the bathroom they use individual towels instead of paper to dry their hands. I LOVED IT !!

2022-05-16Hands down the best Brazilian restaurant in Manhattan. I’m talking homemade delicious dishes that remind me eating at a restaurant in Brazil.I was there in a busy Saturday and the servers were very friendly. In my opinion it’s not overpriced, it’s the average price you pay at any good west village restaurant, and in this case worth every penny.

2022-05-27Fully authentic Brazilian food & drinks. It took me right back to our trip in the rain forest 10+ years ago. Definitely have the mini pot pies (pastry to die for) & fried yams on the side. Enjoy!

2022-05-17I met a friend on a busy Friday night in September 2021. Although busy, staff was kind and professional. I do not know Brazilian food well, but everything was very presentable, great flavor, and considerable portions. The ambiance is great and service was attentive/fast. I recommend it.

2021-08-28Overpriced. 6 tiny pao de queijo will set you back by nearly $15. Each of those super tiny buns are $2.50 each. They are decent tasting but nothing extraordinary. If you were on a hunt for good pao de queijos, I would not come here. If you were desperate for Brazilian food, the ambience and service of this place looks great. Taking 2 stars off for overpricing basics.

2022-05-11Popped in here last night bc I quite enjoyed it when I last went in may 2021.I got 5 dishes + 2 beverages and most were great. Food was more of a 3.5 this time but rounded to a 4 bc my server was great with the recommendations she made.Pao - this time was over cooked and not like when I had it last year. It’s supposed to be light, airy, cheesy but it tasted dense, starchy, and lightly burnt. Only made it through 3/7Carpaccio - greatEmpanadas - excellent. Cheese and beef ones are the bestChef special salted cod - 4/5 great dish but it was just a touch too salty for meFlan - excellent. Not overly sweetCashew drink - light and refreshingLimeade - good but I preferred the cashew drink. Something felt missing in the taste

2022-03-05As a Brazilian, it’s the best one in the downtown area. Service is friendly, caipirinhas always mediocre (order something else), main plates stronger than the apps and the only thing I didn’t enjoy was having to order everything at once and they brought the main plates right after the apps (huge pet peeve of mine).

2022-05-01Overpriced. Appetizers are small. They charge you $5 if you share an entree (???). They have time limit on tables. We forgot and didn’t check the time, they didn’t remind us but they had no problem serving us a $16 glass of wine just before asking us to leave 🤦♂️
