We had a lovely experience here. The place is beautiful— inside and out. We dined outdoors, and I was very impressed that the brought a blanket for each of us. They also had a heat lamp directly next to our table, shining on us the whole time. It was probably 40 degrees but I had my coat off the whole time and was nice and warm. Wait staff were very friendly and food was good. Ambiance was amazing. A little pricey, but given its location, within reason. They let us stay talking as late as we wanted without rushing us. I’ll definitely be back!
Great views of he city, open space roof top with a covered area that can be converted into a closed area during inclement weather. It features a seating area for a small party ( 12 people) with a fireplace. Tapas style sharable platters, dont expect a conventional meal. Good spot for drinks in the AC hotel, close to time square.
Had a stellar experience here. Find Wilson, if you can. Great bartender. Multiple drinks thrown his way and each was made with care and done well, even the *shiver* vodka Red Bull. Didn’t matter what was thrown his way, treated it with the same level of attention to detail and making sure each was made and served well. This is the small touch that makes every place that’s “okay” transcend that little line to great.
We ordered in advance a table to celebrate my daughters 22 birthday. We were sitted at the aisle, very inconvenient. I asked for a better place and I was told That they are all reserved. When I mentioned the fact that we also made a reservation, the lady told us the other seats were wet.... After 5 minutes she was sitting someone else there. Our waitress was rude and impatient. The other waitresses were nice, but she insisted on not letting them help us. Finally, we decided to finish our drinks and go look for another place. Very very disappointed, especially because of the birthday. Dont go to Castell rooftop bar!!!
I reserved an outdoor space for my team weeks in advance and upon arrival we were given an inside seating, after speaking with the “manager” we were declined the terrace space due to a “large event”. Keep in mind for an hour half of their balcony’s seating was empty. The service was really poor, we did not get water refills for two hours, we had to constantly ask for service. This place only serves to their “friends and family”, and if you’re not part of that then oh well, expect to be treated like you don’t belong here: for an $800 tab I’d expect more but clearly not even their management cares.
I made a reservation for Sunday at 8:45pm got a confirmation e-mail and everything. We got there at 8:58pm mind you the e-mail said theres a 15 min grace period. Once we got there we asked the front desk at the hotel the floor of the lounge he told us the floor and when we was about to go on the elevator he said Its Closed!! How is it closed when we had reservations? One of the staff at the front desk said it mightve been a computer issue. But on the website it says it closes at 10pm on Sundays?! I tried to call the number no one picked up, and one of the employees at the desk even gave me a direct number to call still no success. They either need to fix their computer issue with the reservations or update their hours because thats ridiculous. That turned me off so I would definitely not be returning to this place. The guy couldve been lying who knows...
Great service, nice view very nice location and rooftop! However the margaritas were terrible. They costed 22$ and did not taste the tequila at all. It tasted like sour and lime juice but no tequila. Everything else was great except for the bartender! I was there last week saturday and the drinks are yikes for the price and the place!
We love this place. Had enjoyed it during the Covid summer, had a wonderful catered, private party there during Omicron and went back for drinks and dinner last night with friends. Still perfect, great outdoor seating at high tops or couches, they even brought us blankets when the wind picked up! Delicious apps like a mushroom and pomegranate flatbread, pulled chicken sliders, spinach empanadas, grilled potatoes, eggplant dip,. We just ate and talked for hours... wonderful unexpected views, great place to take visitors or pre-theatre!
We reserved our table 4 days in advance. However we were given indoor seating on uncomfortable bar chairs. Slow service, no silverware, no napkins were given until we asked twice.Tables were empty in outdoor seating area however we were not given any even after asking thrice. The manager told us we just had hour and a half to finish drinks and dinner which is too less for a group of 4 people.Disappointing experience..
Absolutely stunning rooftop bar in Midtown Manhattan with friendly staff, great drinks, amazing views, and good food options. Though the drinks are on the very expensive side, they were worth the price and the atmosphere also makes ones experience here very memorable and unique. I’d recommend this rooftop bar to anyone who enjoys a good cocktail and can appreciate beautiful interior design and views. However, if you do visit in the winter and have to sit outside, you definitely need to bundle up! Though there are outdoor heaters, they don’t work too well and you also have to share them between other tables.
Drinks were great! Location is awesome! Service, unfortunately, was absolutely inattentive. Our server couldn’t care less whether we were at the table or not. Too bad really!! Honestly, there are plenty of options for this kind of thing in NYC. My advice… look elsewhere.
Firstly its not so much a rooftop bar but more of a balcony. We made a reservation over the phone and requested outside seating, and were told they cant guarantee an outside table as its a first come first serve basis. On arrival there were multiple free tables outside but we were told they were reserved. Even though on making the reservation we were told we couldnt reverse outdoor tables?!? Huh?Service was incredibly slow yet there were multiple servers standing around doing nothing (only two seemed to be doing any work).Food was missed off our order, and the empty tables outside remained empty for the entire time we were there! The whole place wreaks of pretence when its actually quite a boring little bar with little to no view as its dwarfed by the other buildings
The worst attendance on NYC ever! Besides they dont care if youre frozen on their outdoor tables because... they dont have electric heater for every table! (Really???!!!!)I hope they improve soon or just disappear to never come back and give that business to people who really know how to manage a restaurant.Castell Rooftop go straight to the Hall of Shame (1 star is too much for them!)
Really great somewhat hidden gem in an otherwise wasteland of an area for good spots. The view from the roof is awesome, the decor inside is beautiful (that terrazzo! That leather!) and the cocktails are really something special. Bring a date here or some out of town guests and get ready to get some serious praise.
Extreemly miss managed place..people are just standing around the table and no one cared to seat them...i also saw people drinking out of bottle completely drunk...worst place..Drinks were watered down and service was extremely slow..we got our drinks after 20 mins..Please avoid..take it as a suggestion from a mixologist..
But the service was perfect. They were just the right amount of friendly, came to our table just the right # of times, and swiftly refilled our waters and took away empty glasses without anyone noticing.Look @ the pictures, they provide a very comfortable setting for lounging, and fun. There was also a DJ playing the top 40 songs, so you had the option to dance (although there were only 3 people getting their groove on). But Im sure with a little more alcohol, who wouldnt want to sway their hips?
I don’t often leave reviews, but I wanted to do my part to recommend this wonderful place. I went for after-dinner drinks to celebrate my birthday with friends. The party at our table was taking a bit longer than anticipated, so there was a wait for our reservation. The staff was completely transparent, and while we waited in the beautiful lounge area, the manager brought out complimentary champagne for us as a thank you. I couldn’t believe how nice of a gesture this was! Once we were seated outside, we got to enjoy the gorgeous view and great company. I cannot wait to visit again soon. Thank you for making my night even more special!
This place exceeded my expectations by every means. Im from NYC and every time I go hold to visit I stay in Manhattan. I have passed by this place a thousand times and always said Im going to stop Im going to stop and I never have. Well this time I finally did and Im so glad that I did. The pictures at this place did it no justice! It is definitely a must see with your own eyes!
Cute bar nestled amongst the other tall buildings, so in my opinion not the best that New York rooftops have to offer.Drinks and service are quite ok so you are pretty safe here. As its part of a hotel complex youll find a lot of people out here to party and make a lot of noise.Check out the Empire State Building on the way in and when you leave, she looks amazing.
The drinks here are top tier and the bartenders was amazing. I didnt really know the lay out of the bar so I came and asked just to go to the bar. It is better to get a table. I saw a empty seat and sat down the waitress took the chair while I was drinking my cocktail. That turned me off from this place. How can you take a chair from a paying customer. The drinks were good but not good enough to let the staff treat you as such. Lastly as a POC who came by my self I didnt feel comfortable here no one hardly made conversations !
The views from the roof are fine, mostly of the NYTimes building. The drinks are good and a price I would expect for a rooftop bar.My issue was how terrible the service was. I was very evident that the waitress wanted to be anywhere but there. She forgot our drink orders, and then would actively not make eye contact or come by so we couldnt order more drinks. While we are finishing our drinks the hostess came by and said we need to leave because they needed the table. There were no less than 5 free tables all around us. They didnt need our table as there was plenty of free space. If you are looking for a rooftop bar I would recommend you find another one that has better views, and its not hard to find better staff.
The views are fantastic from this high Perch lots of iconic NYC landmarks can be seen from all angles here. The food menu is limited if you want a restaurant, but very good food if you think of this place as a bar first. I think they know that and have more drinks listed than food so come enjoy what they have to offer, we did.
Came here just for drinks and a snack with my mother in law. They have a fireplace and the place was very festive. Their view of the Empire State building is ok but we ended up getting seated on the other side. Comfortable seats and a spacious table. Got a charcuterie board, fries and hot toddys. Everything tasted good. Typical prices for midtown rooftop.
If youre looking for quality food and drink for a decent price, I would honestly look elsewhere. An 8PM reservation with a special request for a view (as I was just engaged an hour earlier) got me seated at a cramped, high top table with a partial view by nearly 8:20. The drinks were mediocre and the food seemed like an afterthought just to gain the label of restaurant.
I was rather disappointed with this business as I expected much more. The customer service was undesirable- they are truly lacking in this regard. From when I placed a phone call on the afternoon of 3/10/21 to inquire about capacity and make reservations, the lady answering the phone responded as if she was doing us a favor and did not want to be bothered. She was unprofessional, disinterested, borderline rude, and barely helpful. I should have viewed that as a harbinger of things to come.Upon arriving, the hostess was lacking in being welcoming and also minimally helpful. The manager had to intervene to help get my party our table. They initially tried to seat us at a table with uncomfortable, unappealing, plastic bar height chairs which I was shocked were even in this establishment. The other option was to sit outdoors in an area with no heater- this was despite making reservations. Being that the outdoor heaters were insufficient for their tables, my guests and I sadly had to request the heater to be shared among the outdoor patrons which should have been a given. My guests who had traveled all the way from Long Island also commented that they were not used to this type of treatment at the places they usually frequent. I was embarrassed for having invited them here.Food was fair and the establishment is far smaller than what it is made to appear in the photos. The manager was somewhat helpful‐ I had to speak with him twice. I would not recommend this business, I would not return, and I am overall disappointed with our experience here.
They were very accommodating to our two ppl party, and we got lucky to find a table at a rooftop bar/restaurant last minute in nyc. The “Honey I’m home” drink is very good.My partner and I were planning on spending all our 90’ (Covid) time there eating and drinking. Unfortunately, we decided to leave abruptly (after only one drink) as they were rather rude towards my partner. He was uncertain of what he wanted to order, and asked for a glass of water in the mean time. Apart from the “overlooked” feeling my partner got, and after having requested the glass of water from three people, they actually did serve us/ attend our table (for my drink and some convo) without bringing his water.Perhaps this was their way of saving time between serving him and him *actually* putting an order in, but it felt very rude. It was also rather weird for us, considering I had finished my cocktail and he had not yet received his water...My partner felt very uncomfortable to the point where he could not justify tipping. Obviously, we paid and tipped, but it was only because they accommodated us so smoothly and last minute. (They did not seem crazy busy when we arrived ~9:50pm)The atmosphere is very nice and cozy. The prices are not that crazy. The cocktails feel justifiably “over” priced. Views also quite worth. Could have gone without the NYC attitude. It definitely felt unwelcoming/acknowledging to my non local partner.
We went for Valentine’s Day and it was perfect. As thankful as we were to have indoor seating, we sat outside. They had heaters and blankets so we were good. We got the V Day Package: 2 drinks (cava 👍🏽 & sangria 👍🏽) BBQ chicken sliders, scallop crudo, charcuterie, and cream puffs for dessert. All for $100. We were full! The food was great, service excellent, nice rooftop view... no complaints at all! They had one large igloo, might grab some friends and go back soon! 🤩😁
Came by for a outdoor drinks on a first date. It was 28 degrees outside but my date and I wanted to be covid safe. The staff went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. They moved the heat lamps closer to us, gave us 4 sets of warm blankets, and even the water served was warmed. We had a fantastic time together
Stayed in hotel for pre valentine day with my love. Stay was friendly and easy to talk to. Hotel was amazing and room was pretty nice! Had to request soap because there was none in the containers. But thats okay. Bed was very comfortable. Didnt wanted to get up. But the con about this hotel was the rooftop experience. There was about 3-4 waiters who all were talking amping themselves. We were seating and no one greeted us until 20 min later. And there was about 3-4 couples who were there already so basically empty. We ordered our drinks and the drinks was nothing but very sour lemonade that we didnt finish and they charged $43 for only two drinks. Which WAS overpriced. Could have gone to a regular bar and for cheaper and better drinks. Plus waiters wouldnt be standing and talking like the one there. Wont go again.
It was okay. The people who work in the front desk were fantastic, however after day drinking abit my party and I decided to go back to the room and take a nap, 30 min into our nap we get a call from the front desk to pack our stuff and go downstairs that they put us in the wrong room. Then mid packed they called back and said we can stay in the room. Just a very inconvenient situation with the room cause they also said 1616 we went there and the room key didnt work because she signed us onto 616 not our correct room of 1616
Guess the restaurant must have thought that since they have a beautiful spot in a prime location , why bother about food … the food was a joke !! ( some pointers to the chef : 1. Toasting a tiny slice of bread and adding a tiny bit of avacado on it doesn’t make it a Avacado-toast , 2. Empanadas and dumplings are 2 different things and over-frying a dumpling is not an empanada)
Due to Covid, seating is rooftop outside only. I found it astounding that in the month of February, they are not serving beverages like hot tea or coffee... only hot alcohol toddies. I am not comfortable with drinking when I have to get back in the car and drive, and the management should be support of responsible drinking practices too. Also, there are a limited number of portable overhead heaters, so not every seating area had one. Avocado Toast was very good, but its hard to enjoy it when your teeth are chattering and your hands are numb with cold.
I went here through a friend who had been there before. I think the ambience and rooftop lounge are very elegant and cool, cocktails are very good, expensive, but more or less what you can expect for such place and location. The view is very nice although not the most amazing in the neighborhood. The service is very helpful and friendly though very slow. On one hand they have a very nice attitude and are very friendly. As we requested it, they sat us outside in the lounge area though we were only two, and that area is reserved for bigger parties. On the other hand, later on as we were about to leave the check was delayed for more than 20 minutes (which ended up in my friend missing her bus out of town) and we were able to pay only because we walked to the front desk. Knowing this, next time I give it a try, which I definitely would, I will plan much more in advance if I am in a rush again.
Heating is absolutely inadequate. They have about one weak heater (each heater has a narrow beam of heat enough to heat only one person realistically) per 4 tables. They move them sometimes around. Realistically you get a weak heater for 10 minutes every 40 minutes. It’s absolutely pathetic and all visitors at the evening were frozen to death. Dress super warm and don’t rely on their heaters.
Service was horrible made a reservation and everything when we got there the server was rude and literally threw the straw for our drinks to our table then never came back to get our order we have to ask another server to get our check without eating. The manager was professional about it when we explained the situation but will not recommend this place to anybody you can get way better service and better drinks at 230 fifth rooftop for a more reasonable price and better views.
Went on a Friday evening and was literally the last customer to leave. The views are amazing, the staff is welcoming and gracious, the drinks are sublime and the macaroons are top notch. The gentleman in charge Samuel, really added a touch a class to the evening with his great conversation and hospitality. I will recommend this place to any and everyone looking for a City Gem they can make their regular hangout.
The service here is very slow. We just went for a round of cocktails and it took 15 minutes for the drinks to arrive. When we were preparing to leave it took an additional 20 minutes to get the check and pay. I dont know if theyre understaffed or very inefficient. The drinks when we did get them were excellent though, and the outdoor seating was very nice.
Went on a Sunday morning. The place was clean and had few people. The masseuse was great. We ate at the cafe bistro. The teriyaki said for the wings was too thick and salty. The quesadilla was great. It may seem pricey (16) but it is very big. The drinks are strong but still overpriced (16-18). I would return but only on a Sunday.
We hosted a corporate event here this October and I was incredibly impressed with the whole production. We reserved the space from 6.00 - 8.00PM which was amazing - everyone was mingling while the sun was slowly setting and it gave our event a really nice ambiance.Minimal set-up required beforehand, they had it all covered. The space is beautiful inside and out. The small snacks and passed hors doeuvres were tasty (tuna tartare, chicken skewers, pepperoni / prosciutto w. crackers, lamb sliders). For reference, we were able to accommodate about 175 people total. They also helped us create a wine / beer / cocktail list for the evening which was a hit. I tried a glass of sparkling wine and one of their signature margaritas and really enjoyed. I was impressed with the staff, they were total pros.Would highly recommend for a special event. We had a blast!
Nestled in a prime midtown location with great views, ambience and the decor was excellent. The menu was creative, drinks refreshing and great service. The outside patio seating area was cozy with blended mirrors and greenery. It’s definitely a place you can frequent, and I highly recommend it!
The waiter was not attentive. He only came to our table once in the 2 hours we were there we never saw him again after he took our order. However we did notice how attentive he was to everyone else around us. Guess we didnt look like the type of people who tipped well. But the Frose was good
Came here for drinks . Nice rooftop. Despite the fact that there were only 12 people at the bar it took forever to get our drinks. We ordered three margaritas and they were allCharged differently. When we asked they said it was because they used a different tequila. Not my problem. .
Rooftop bar above the AC hotel. You may want to call for a reservation, but you can get in without one. Ive been there four times now, super close to work. Great place to relax with colleagues after work. Ive had Lizzie as a server three times now, and shes on the ball. Ill definitely be back again.
Great new meeting spot in Times Square. Love the location (right next to Port Authority and NYT HQ) and the spectacular rooftop views. The beef and lamb sliders were great and they have outdoor heaters. We came in for a quiet fireside chat (a real one, not a public event!) away from the hubbub. I WILL BE BACK FOR SURE.
Made a reservation for a party of 10 2 weeks in advance of date, just for them to cancel it 4 business days prior, due to them booking a private event. They offered to move time 1.5 hours later which is really an inconvenience. True customer service would be if they could not accommodate us at the time, then secure an alternative place if even at a competitor.

2022-06-07Great rooftop! I t features a cozy indoor area, which is perfect for winter, and also a great outdoor area, perfect for the warmer months. Here you will find delicious cocktails - try Honey Im Home for a fresh and citrus flavor or the Night Cap, for a bold flavor. Plus, the food is delicious, we loved the sliders, the eggplant spread and the potatoes. Dont forget the dessert: the warm cookie with vanilla ice cream and salted caramel is a must-try!

2021-12-25Made a reservation for a 4 pm slot for drinks and small bites before a Broadway show. It was not crowded at all since it was so early. We were prompted to show our vaccination cards right after we got off the elevator. Got the eggplant dip which came with some pita. I definitely thought it was going to be like babaganoush, but it was not as smoky. The dip was definitely on the more salty side. The staff gave us some extra pita to finish mopping up the dip after we ran out of our initial batch. Drinks were sufficiently strong. Great spot to drop by close to the theater district. I can only imagine how crowded it gets closer to dinner time, especially with such nice views of the empire state. I hope to come back in the summer to sit out in the outdoor area!

2022-05-14Decent place. It was raining and they only have the indoor portion. Upon arrival, they put us to the bar which is fine as we are not eating. However, we found out there sitting area is pretty empty. I would prefer for a table as it’s more comfortable.

2022-05-15Depends on your reason to come here. If you want authentic or interesting food? No. Good service? No. Great views? Yes! Overpriced food in a cute setting in Times Square. The rooftop is a nice break from the garbage lined streets. That’s Showbiz baby.Chicken skewers were super bland. Night cap espresso martini was delicious. Ricotta and fig crostini was ok. Only 2 small pieces of fig includedService was slow. Very slow. Waitresses are nice… calm vibe at 6:30/7pm on a Sunday

2022-05-26It was so lovely. The views, the cocktails, and the food were all more than I could ask for. It was a super fun atmosphere as well! My girlfriend and I would come back any day!

2022-01-18This is a nice, small spot to overlook the city and have a very elegant experience. The staff were super friendly and helpful and the cocktails/mocktails were incredible. The rooftop was mostly closed because of the temp/weather but you were still able to go out and enjoy it for a little while.

2021-11-30Went in winter so didnt spend much time on the terrace but had a look and it was nice. Easy to get to, just one lift. The place is a little pretentious but not overly so. The staff were respectful and nice. Atmosphere and decor is great. Music was a good selection of early 2010 bangers, not too loud, just right, could still easily talk to others. Prices are what you would expect for a NYC bar. 10 people does trigger a $500 minimum spend btw!

2021-08-17Very nice view and ambience! The drinks here are cheap during happy hour - $13 cocktails and $6 beers. It has a nice, spacious balcony and is very well decorated. They have a 90 minute time limit but if you go during the weekdays it shouldn’t be too crowded. Would come back!

2021-08-25Amazing view and great ambient. Very nice service. Prices are pretty high. Small menu with very few non-alcoholic options. Seats outside are held back despite not being fully occupied.
