Castillo in other cities:
We came to this restaurant in Brooklyn by complete coincidence, were in the area and decided to stop by and give it a try. We ordered the yapingachos platter, hornado dish and roasted chicken and can definitely say we were greatly surprised with the authenticity of the flavor and freshness of the food, service was great too!
As an Ecuadorian, I have to say this is one of the best Ecuadorian restaurants in NYC, by far. The place is not too inviting visually, but the food is really good, dishes are pretty authentic, and the service is incredibly friendly and attentive. Worth checking it out.
To be fair I currently live in TexMex central and I don’t know much about Ecuadorian food. This place left a little to be desired. I asked if they have a green salad and that I was willing to pay for it… the salad was less than perfect. The flat iron / fajita skirt steak was tough but flavorful. The rice was cooked correctly however it had a decidedly non-Mexican taste but was very good. The beans were good though I don’t really eat them. Presentation to the customer needs a bit of work but the food taste fairly good.
This has become my favorite restaurant in Sunset Park. The food is all cooked with love and you can taste it. Even the rice and beans are exceptional! The rice is buttery and perfectly cooked every time, and the beans are flavorful and tasty. My favorite thing to get is Pechuga Apanada aka Pollo Milanesa. Their tostones are also incredible!
Had the steak, grilled. Make sure you ask medium rare if you want medium. Well seasoned. Tender. Salad and rice and beans are OK. Tried the humita. Masa with corn cooked in the husk. Great flavor but a bit dry. The ceviche was wonderful. The marinera soup is very good. They serve wine and beer. Decor could be better. Need to find out if the paintings are for sale.
The ceviche looks like a soup and very oily, not good for eating, I had to mix my rice with the seafood because it was gross, it is not flavored, it tastes like water with oil.Service was slow and not friendly.Affordable prices but not Good food. The mixed ceviche was inedible, it was like a mixture of water and oil, too much oil, so I mixed the seafood with the rice. The prices are not bad but the taste of the food and the service can improve.
The worst experience These people are the last. They give you a poorly prepared meal.I ordered a fish ceviche and what I got was a soup with onion and some pieces of boiled fish. No lemon ... and full of pure oil. The worst thing is that I kindly told them to please change it with another meal and they told me that they could not do that. An employee called Maria very rude that the owners do not have time to talk to the client. Nor to change the food. Of the last I give 0 to this mediocre restaurant. Wuacala no more !!! Of the last
This food is not worth it, she does not know how to cook, the sausage broth looks like tap water or puddle water, it had no flavor and expensive it was worth 13 dollars, how disappointed I am, I thought it would be good, and I bought meat with beans and rice and the meat was raw and burned by the way, I didnt even eat that broth I had to throw it away, a thousand times better the food at “La Caretta” on 51 and 4 av, there is no better Ecuadorian food than there, throw the food away to the toilet so that the rats are poisoned ... that food is not worth
Bad treatment in dispatching the pick up they get angry when I asked for an extra spicy to take away and when I realized at work that I did not send a napkin nor did they give me a spicy gift besides that I was going to sell each spicy all the time I asked something they were rude the girls the one star only for the coiner who is good catfish caldito food .....

2022-03-17This place is incredible. It reminds me of when I was a kid and my Ecuadorian friends mom would beat us with her flip flops for being rowdy street kids and then shed feel bad for hitting us so shed cook up a huge meal and feed us. The best Arrozz con Pollo and the empenadas are great. Im pretty sure somebodys grandma is cooking it up in the kitchen so dont mess around while youre in there cause you might get the flip flop too.

2019-07-15Came with some friends on an early Sunday evening. The place was fairly empty so didn’t have to wait to be seated. The food was good and you get a large portion at a decent price.

2019-11-08The food was tasty and plentiful but the service wasn’t the best. Had to flag down a waitress in order for them to take the order. When the order came, I was missing the rice and beans and I had to flag down another waitress to get that. Roughly 30 minutes from stepping into the restaurant until taking the first bite. The waitresses were friendly and courteous and the atmosphere was okay.

2021-11-13First of all what I received wasnt the same thing that I ordered. I called them to let them know the lady laughed told me to contact customer service. Whatever that was with the pork was tasteless and the arroz con Pollo was basuraaaaa 🚮 (I wish I wouldve took a pic of that too). Grubhub gave me my money back but it was still terrible. 1/4 chicken was terrible too. Decided to order food for the fam and the quality of that food was embarrassing.

2019-11-30We enjoyed our dinner very much however the staff billed my credit card multiple times for the meal. I called them to reverse the extra charge and no one there was willing to look into it. They told me to wait a few days and then come into to the restaurant if you want a refund. Now Im on hold with my banks chargeback center and feel less great about our fantastic meal.

2018-05-03Wow! Those are just the words that come out of my mind I think about this food. First time for me and my brother was today, he had the rice paella as showed in the picture along with a typical Ecuadorian dish, food was flavorful and the portions were very good! Will definitely be back to try their other dishes, we also had the pineapple flavored natural Juice which is homemade didn’t get a picture of that cause I was just too hungry for all that. Definitely next. Chill vibe great ambiance and good for a romantic dinner
