...great place! ...the vibe, the ambience, the people, the drinks - I had a couple Whiskey Sours, the food - I had the 24oz Porterhouse, it was divided in 2, and each side cooked to both of my liking, accompanied with the Waffles fries ...pretty good! ...the flaming Baked Alaska was lit! ...Espresso was good, but served on a BIG cup, this was the only downer ...our server was great -James, so kudos to him!
Phenomenal service and even better food!! The atmosphere was absolutely divine, ask for the rooftop seating. This restaurant has amazing chefs in that kitchen, they know how to balance flavours very well!! The bartenders are top notch every drink we had was so good!! Excellent night out with friends. All of those things mentioned above made the high bill so worth it. We couldnt stop ordering because everything sounded so good, and it didnt let down!! Will definitely return!!!
Last night I was a plus 1 at my friends company holiday party at Catch Steak Nyc. Yep, a proper high end steakhouse. So you can imagine my surprise when my friend told the server I was vegan. I was content sitting there drinking my potatoes and grapes, if you know what I mean🥴 but the server was like oh, you should have said something.... we got you. Oh?! I thought to myself. Vegan ceasar salad, followed by a chickn parm and for dessert vegan salted caramel cashew ice cream and raspberry sorbet served with fresh frozen raspberries in a crepe bowl. It was delicious and surprising. Amazing service!
I booked a reservation for 10 people for my moms birthday. Its mom so you always want to do something extra special. I brought in florals for the table with the understanding they could not stay on the table during the dinner. This was just for my mom to see as she walked in and they accommodated this. (A plus) They also seated us in the patio but it was hot and we wanted to sit inside after already ordering a drink. It was Caitlin Dennison that ensured we changed to a cooler location. She was sweet about it and really made the night go just as I hoped. The food at Catch is always good but this level of service is not always on 10 its usually a 9 on service for me. but Caitlin delivered a 10 as a host. I am a VIP regular in LA & NY, I was just in LA for the new opening a few weeks ago. Its rare I come across someone making things happen to please the customers at this level. I understand how big of a change it was for her to do this and it was so much appreciated. Thank you Caitlin.
I was there with a group of friends last night for a Birthday celebration. Even though the steak was dry and the drinks didn’t taste so well, we managed to have a good time. However, when we were about to leave, we wanted to take a group photo by the stairs at the entrance next to the bar. The MANAGER CHRIS was extremely rude. He yelled from across the room saying we couldn’t take pictures there and was asking us to move with a bad attitude. The security wasn’t letting us take pictures and kept blocking us. He said he had to follow his orders. 3 minutes later we see the same manager bringing all his friends to the stairs to have them take pictures and completely ignored us when he noticed we didn’t understand his bad attitude towards us. There should be no preferences, customers should be respected and treated professionally. We own restaurants in New Jersey and understand certain rules should be followed. However, this behavior is unacceptable. We felt discriminated and treated as if we didn’t pay for the dinner we just had.
Had reservations for 8:00, we waited over one hour for our table for which we never were seated. They were waiting for the table before us to leave (they had already paid). We decided to leave since the place smelled more of weed than steak. On the way out, we told security what happened and their response was “it be like that sometimes” and didn’t have a response for when I asked why are reservations tightly close to each other if they have people waiting for an extended period of time. Benjamin steakhouse is far better food, better service, without the chaos.
What an amazing experience at this restaurant!, The steak is absolutely amazing!, The sides aswell, The service is top notch, Manny is the best waiter i every had anywhere, He was very knowledgable of everything on the menu and attentive to me, He is a star and Catch Steak is lucky to have him! 🙏💖
Really good experience here. The staff were courteous, efficient, made sure everything was perfect and didnt bother you unnecessarily. The food was excellent quality with well balanced flavors from all dishes. The whole experience was top notch as you would expect for the caliber of this establishment. Dress business casual at minimum and prepare for a good meal.
I’ll start off and say that the steaks and cocktails were great, but the overall experience was def not worth the prices, when we first walked in they made us wait 35 min for our table (after our reservation time) then we were seated outside in the cold patio after I specifically asked to be seated inside, the place is extremely loud, you can hear everyone shouting and hardly hear the music in the background. To top all this off the waitress relentlessly tried to make us order items we did not want and made us feel uncomfortable when we declined. We ordered the baked Alaska desert and let’s just say is was not up to part with the food.
I will absolutely need to revisit this place as it is an absolute Steak and Seafood haven for ultimate dinning here in Manhattan. It gets extremely busy so reservations are Paramount! I went on a Tuesday and was lucky to find a walk in table for 1. I had the Scallops and a King Crab appetizer. The drinks are literal masterpieces and the ambiance is overall perfection. Great fpr large 10 person engagements or an intimate date night amd I cannot wait to bring my girlfriend this springtime.
I had my birthday dinner here last weekend and was extremely disappointed with the hostess staff. I had a reservation for 10 people at 7pm. They could not accommodate us at the same table even though I confirmed with them the day before. We were sat at 2 complete opposite sides of the restaurant- a table of 3 and a table of 7. There were 2 empty tables next to my party of 3 and they still refused to move us together. The maitre d was so nasty. I asked her name multiple times and she would not tell me. Does she even understand what her job duties are? I certainly will not be back here. Although the food was good, the terrible service was enough to make me never want to come back.
Cute for cocktails. Not the best steak I’ve had. Service was ehhh. Our server Abby initially started off very high energy and was giving recommendations. After we received the food she wasn’t around and after dropping off the check. She didn’t even pick up the check or thank us for coming and say goodbye :,( it was kind of off putting. As for the steaks they’re very high quality in terms of meat but if you want a seasoned juicy steak this isn’t the place for you. Idk I won’t be coming back except for drinks. Good luck.
It was my birthday and I had one of the worse experiences ever! I will never return this restaurant is full of bias individuals. Security is rude they did not allow me in with street wear and they have on street wear they don’t follow Covid guidelines and I will be reporting them to 311 I am pretty sure the “manager” Kevin lied about his name with his two security guards. No mask! No nothing and none of the employees and cooks in the back wear mask.
Do not go to this place if you have any decency. It is clear as day that people are separated based on wealth. The main dining is for those who look like money and the upstairs are for those who look a little more common. Im a director and my wife is an attorney and we were categorized because of how we look. The service, the food, the vibe is completely different upstairs. You thought segregation was over. Its not. I asked for the manager who never came.
Regardless of a reservation, we were sit at our table after a 45 minutes wait. Hostesses at the desk were almost laughing at our check-ins/complaints.Party of 6, the table was for 4 people, we could barely fit our serveware. At our request for a larger table we were completely ignored. I ate on the uneven tables seam, with my dish swinging left and right. The service was incredibly poor and disorganized, not necessarily because of our waitress, she tried her best, but complete disconnection with the kitchen, the wine and food order. Our second bottle of wine, pre ordered at the beginning of the meal, arrived when our steaks were almost over, despite multiple solicitations. The food is incredibly and unreasonably expensive, this is written by somebody who spends 50k a year in restaurants and regularly sits at 3 Michelin starred venues. So I have no problem in spending money when its worth it. This place is the opposite. The two steaks we ordered after eating appetizers, that were supposed to be good for 6, and cost a total of $400 (+ tip and taxes) were smaller than advertised, we ended up ordering another one.The meat was good, however way too much seasoning and salt in the crust. The sides are basically mono-portion, nothing similar to a regular steakhouse, but they carry the same hefty price tag.To apologize for the bad experience they gave us a free dessert for $24. The bill was over $1,500.Apart from the good-looking male and female walking around pretending to work, this place is a tourist trap that I strongly recommend to stay away from.Embarrassing
Phenomenal. We had an awesome date night here. The service, the food, and attention was amazing. The food was delicious, everything came out perfectly prepared, and beautifully presented. Axel was super attentive, really knew the steps of service and how to cater to his table, he made great recommendations for wine and dinner based off our liking and never rushed us.
Came to Catch for my bestfriend’s birthday dinner. While the food was delicious, the service here was subpar. I’ve visited other Catch locations in other states and had really high expectations but this one just didn’t meet them. This was a large dinner party of 12 and the reservation was for 7:45. We arrived at 7:30 and knew we probably had to wait for a minute to be seated which was fine. We were seated 20 minutes later and our waiter was Khalil who was good and very knowledgeable of the menu. Our food order was taken around 8:30-8:45 which we would expect was input soon as we were done. Khalil mentioned to us that things would arrive to the table soon as they were ready. Our appetizers took a hour and a half to arrive to the table. The entrees took another hour to come. We didn’t leave the restaurant until almost midnight which was a huge inconvenience to us because we traveled from out of state to come here. The manager was walking around. Never came to check if everything was okay. She was stopped by us and we told her at this point it’s been over 2 hours we’ve been waiting for our food. Instead of apologizing, her immediate response is “didn’t you guys put your order in late? THEN says “oh it takes a while for well done steaks to cook” I’m not sure why that was mentioned (maybe because we’re black 🤷🏽♀️) but most of us that ordered steak, ordered medium with the exception of maybe 1 person and not everyone ordered steaks. Then says the steaks can take up to 40 minutes to cook. But again it’s been over 2 hours so there was zero accountability taken on the restaurant’s part. The explanation given still doesn’t say why we waited so long for just appetizers and then an additional hour for food. They sent a round of shots on them which was appreciated but to be quite honest nobody wants to drink when they’re hungry on an empty stomach. Once the food was finally received, the food was amazing and I have zero complaints when it comes to that. I just wish the service was better and there was more compassion and understanding from the staff.
The food and ambience are unbeatable. My one complaint is that they don’t give the option when reserving for choosing indoor vs outdoor. Arrived during an 85 degree day and they were seating outside without specifying on the reservation. We waited 40 minutes past our reservation time for an inside table.
As soon as you get there, theres a burly bouncer in a dark suit and, I kid you not, an ear piece, like theres a club going on. After a short flight up, post temperature check, we got greeted and seated pretty quickly. Clearly trying to live off the historical trendy vibes of this location.Just to get this out of the way: the food was absolutely delicious. Hands down, no question, perfectly prepared. Now thats out of the way....It became clear once we arrived that this was more of a restaurant in the business of hawking experiences, than it was about the food, the steak was just the vehicle they chose. With that in mind, I felt that it was either very overpriced for the experience they provided, or severely under delivered on the experience based on what it cost. That said, if you got a few shekels to throw around and dont mind paying more, then youll very much enjoy the food and overall experience, which on the whole wasnt bad, but not at all remarkable in any way.
Food is okay. But the worst part was, after 2 hours CONSUMING, we would ask another steak and bottle of wine, the manager came and said we needed to get out because we already been there for two hours! Hahahahahaha THIS IS THE MOST RIDICULOUS PLACE I EVER BEEN! Don’t waist your precious money and your time with this place! Our bill was around 700$ and we got expelled! Never AGAIN!
Okay I totally respect the operations of this establishment. There’s a doorman stopping you before you can even go up and take to the hostess. I love this because it helps decrease amount of people near the hostess which helps maintain social distancing. A plus for me because honestly bombarding the hostess and hostess area was annoying for me pre-pandemic.All the staff wore their masks appropriately. She escorted me to our seat were everyone was spaced out. We sat out by the rooftop terrace which had really good A/C which is a plus. We ordered the salmon rice cakes and the tartare which was heavenly. I really really enjoyed the tartare more. Then we ordered the aged steak with a side of truffle butter. That was delicious and I loved the fact they made the steak exactly how we ordered it. We also got a bottle of wine. We ordered the Bake Alaska which is pretty cool in the way they come over and prep/serve it to you. I must say the customer service here was 7 out of 5 and that’s from every part of the staff. They really take pride in making sure you are having a great experience. I’d definitely come back again.
The staff and management were wonderful. We tried everything interesting on the menu from the Japanese flight to a few from each column in the regular steak. Each item was delightful. The snow beef, olive beef, and true Kobe A5 waygu was an experience, but dont even think of it as anything but a tiny tiny taste.
Buzzing atmosphere. didn’t see children. there is a mixed demographic of older and young crowd. about a 45 min wait. there was a mix up with the number of guests however they were able to fix it and get us seated about 15 mins after that. great bar selection and the drinks were strong. ordered Belvedere cosmos and shots, shout-out to the handsome bartender upstairs — he makes a mean drink! 🍸✨Remy was our server and she was absolutely fabulous✨. Had a good assortment of steak and non steak options. Started with the pretzel bread + mustard butter, salmon rice cakes, lobster roll, spicy gigli, burrata and the tortellini. all wonderful dishes that stand on their own. (2) Japanese Wagyu which the others in my party said was divine. ✨the meatless chicken parm was also good. had a baked alaska birthday brownie with ice cream which was a nice touch. you can taste the alcohol on it so be prepared if you’ve never had it before. all in all, a wonderful experience. ✨The greenery at the entrance makes for great photos while you’re waiting to be seated just try to snap them quick and be mindful of other patrons.
I recently went to Catch steak for my boyfriend’s birthday dinner. Although the food was pretty good the service was horrible. The hostesses ( if that’s what you would call them) had major attitude for no reason. They truly acted as if they were doing us a favor for allowing us to eat at this “establishment “. Lol. With reservations we still waited 25 minutes for a table. We arrived about six minutes ahead of time and still had to wait all of that time . No apologies, no complimentary anything, NOTHING. I would have walked out if it wasn’t a birthday date. I did it want to inconvenience my boyfriend any further in finding another place with such short notice. Sooooo many other places ( that I know has great food and amazing service). I wanted to try a steak house he or I haven’t tried before though. Dinner was pretty good. The atmosphere was a bit loud in my opinion for dinner time. Our server was much better than the “ hostesses. At the end of our meal the bill came and they kept having trouble with the electronic billfold. She had to change it three times. It was sooooo annoying. I actually could not wait to get out of there.
VERY VERY BAD QUALITY MEAT!!!! The meat had no flavor, tasted like cardboard (even though we ordered medium rare) and it was incredibly small, not worth the money !!! It is not a steak house, don’t get fooled. It is receiving only one star because service and music was good, but if not, 0 stars. Not worth it, many other great restaurant in NYC, and this is definitely not worth trying.
One of the superior outdoor dining experiences in Manhattan. The covered patio is warm and vibrant. Love coming when indoor dining is open, the bar area is my favorite with red booths and Broadway type lights makes you feel like you are back in time. Food and drinks are always on point.
They managed to be running behind on RESERVATIONS to where it took an hour and 15 minutes to be seated for my 9:45 pm reservation. The food then took an hour to come out after being ordered, not to mention how overpriced it is. Service was shoddy, but passable. Avoid this place.
Wanted to give this place a second chance after the first time being horrendous... and it did not disappoint, it was an absolute wild dumpster fire. Might as well have a bunch of people who peaked in middle school serve us. Oh wait, they did....Service is atrocious (pronounced uh-trow-shuhs for anyone who works there, probably still has too many syllables for them). Table was ready, then not ready, then ready again - not a big deal. Went upstairs, to sit at table smaller than a fisher price play table for 6 adults. Did not have an extra chair and place setting for 6 people, only 5 so we stood like idiots. Hostess has amnesia because she started seating other people and forgot to bring us a chair and place setting. They forgot to give us menus and ask for our orders. Gave us odd number of bread (5) for 6 adults and made us BUY an extra basket to compensate the one person left out. Drinks came extremely late might. The waitress said that she could ONLY pour 4 glasses of wine from each bottle of wine, again we have 6 adults - how incompetent are you to be unable to pour 6 glasses from a bottle of wine - we ordered 3 bottles to give her multiple opportunities to figure it out- da-ddduhhhhhhINTERPOLs counter terrorism unit needs to intervene and decommission this restaurant.Only good thing was the bar downstairs. Bartender and drinks were on point.
Run, dont walk... away from here! Actually the ribeye cap was pretty tasty. But no more so than many top steakhouses. And the service is HORRENDOUS. First they made us wait 1.5 hours (yes we had a reservation) and kept pushing us to get more drinks at the bar. Then once we were sat, the service was equally slow.Maybe the steak tasted good because we were literally starving. We werent the only ones. Seems like everyone had extended wait for table, they just pack in the place and hope to crowd the bar to make money while you wait for your food.Im sorry, but thats not the game Im trying to play.
This steakhouse is hands down THE BEST steakhouse that I have had. We took an anniversary trip up to NY and my husband planned a dinner. The ambiance alone was top tier. We ordered a Cobb salad for starters and for our entree I ordered the Truffle Butter Filet and my husband had the cowboy ribeye. We ordered the Brussels Sprouts as a side. The flavor was UNMATCHED!!! My filet was cooked to perfection. A little crisp on the outside and butter on the inside. We finished dinner off with the Cookies and Cream Baked Alaska. I literally have no complaints. We were serviced by Axle who was AMAZING. He added to the experience. He was personable and gave great feedback. If you’re in the area, add this great restaurant to your list.
Food was ok but was very overpriced. The staff was generally nice, but the security at front were blatantly discriminatory. They let the rest of the group in, yet had a problem for me with my dress code. Some people were in graphic t-shirts, yet I was underdressed in a plaid shirt, it was simply down to the way I looked. Not coming back here, and certainly wouldnt recommend to anyone.
Very nice place with delicious food. From the moment you walk in, the decor is very fresh and inviting. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We were a group of 10 and when more people arrived, the staff quickly moved things around to make us a bigger table and make our whole group fit comfortably as one. The food was delicious but be warned, this is the small portions, pretty on your plate type of restaurant. Most appetizers were very small in portion. The CS chopped was a good size. Stake was cooked perfectly and all the sides were on point. Also, in case you were wondering, there is a private space in case you want a private party or a more intimate setting away from all the chatter in the main dining room.
Hostess ladies are a little condescending but everything else about the place is A+. Best meal in NYC we ever had and we always eat high, modern, and fancy dancy. Everything is amazing. Great vibe and food items. From steak to pasta to sushi… they do it right! They take allergies seriously. Wait or Ryan was so great.
Where do I begin. As an avid Catch guest, this experience was an absolute nightmare. We waited 30 mins before our waitress took our order (only after we flagged her down) Once we placed our starters order, which consisted of at least 6 dishes, she responded by oh so you guys are barely eating? Rather than providing recommendations, or listening to the fact that we said these choices were our starters, she tried to shame our choices. When asked what she meant by the comment she became defensive and so we requested a manager. A supervisor came out and gracefully offered to change our waitress and cover our first round of drinks, which we were considering before a male manager came out, ignored the supervisors suggestions and handed us our check for our first round of drinks. For $30 dollars a cocktail and an avid nyc diner, this is not the level of guest services anyone should accept. 0/0 Avoid at all costs.
I had reservations at 7:30 on 4/23/2022 for a birthday dinner and arrived on time. The security guard outside asked for my name and proceeded to look up my reservation. He then turns us away saying my husband had on a sweatsuit. My husband actually had on trousers. We called for a manager (for a second opinion) and was placed on hold for over 40mins. When the manager finally came out we were across the street and noticed the security filling him in on the situation. He came back out and advised the issue was footwear, so no one’s story was straight. What’s worse is when you look up CatchSteak on instagram people are dressed in street wear and untidy just the week before.I will never return to this establishment.
I don’t usually post reviews. But, I came a bit late cuz there is so much traffic in the city. I had to wait 40 mins for a table. and it was packed. they don’t let you put flowers on the table it’s ridiculous the tables were shaky it was loud and the steak was not what I was expecting. This is not a place to celebrate your birthday. I was really disappointed for my birthday. Luckily I’m celebrating the whole week but, I would not recommend this place. it was trashy. and I had to hear a whole lecture from my family because this was a terrible experience.
They’ve just opened this month and there are a few things to work out, but it’s a nice location and the meals are well done. I would remove the attendant from the bathroom, as the bathroom on the second floor is very small and the attendant takes up too much space and is pretty intrusive for a restaurant. I’d say the meals were fairly priced and as expected for the Catch brand. Will be a good spot for celeb and athlete spotting for some time if that’s your thing. The service was a bit slow, but again, they’re just figuring out their processes so to be expected. I’d recommend in a few weeks.
First time dining At Catch Steak. I loved my dining experience. The waiter and staff were polite and provided excellent service. I recommend if you want to try something new trendy and swanky. I must warn you portions are very small and a bit over priced. Be prepared spend a bag to fill up (my dinner and drinks were $500.00 for two ppl plus tip)
Steak very good, I used to go to different places if you want to eat good steak they are the best in business. Service is kind of slow but very professional because you got a detail of explanation for everything you want to order from wines to steak, oysters...place is very clean also.
I love this place! I love all Catch restaurants and was excited to check this one out, but was kind of nervous because Im a vegetarian and didnt think there would be much for me to eat here, but I was so happy when I found out they have a menu just for vegetarians/vegans!We ended up ordering all the vegetarian options on the menu because we were so excited to try them all out. I was particularly excited to try out the vegetarian chicken parmesan, which turned out to be excellent!Another delicious item on the menu in the molten stuffed potatoes and the spicy pasta. Im dreaming about all the food and cant wait to go back asap!We went on a Sunday night and it was super busy, the place was buzzing, the decor is nice and the service is excellent.IG- @traveleen_gurl
Everything about this place was amazing! I’ve been wanting to check out this new spot for a while and it really exceeded my expectations. The drinks and food were all incredible. Hands down the best steak I’ve ever had in my life! The Italian burrata and baked clams were sooo good! The best part was after dinner we could head upstairs and check out the club! It’s very similar to the other catch, music was on point!
They have huge outdoor spaces. We were placed in the 2nd floor that had really nice decorations, overall great atmosphere. The food was also very good, however not worth the prices they had. You could get better and bigger portions at like the palms or wolfgang so -1 star for value
I used to love catch steak but the last times I’ve been there I’ve felt really uncomfortable I’ve seen a blonde girl who looks like a manger being very inappropriate touching all these men. I know it’s probably part of her job but it really makes me uncomfortable to see
My boyfriend and I had a day of shopping and he decided to end the night with some dinner as couples do. We decided to eat at Catch Steak and I will say. WORTH EVERY DOLLAR. We enjoyed some oysters and drinks to begin, some filet and lobster skewers, mashed potatoes and creamed spinach that was delectable. It was truly a delicious meal. Can’t wait to have another date night there again.
Tuesday night was my 3rd time this month going to Catch Steak. I wrote an amazing review for my husbands bday dinner on a Sunday night on open table. The food was superb as usual. Unfortunately I will not be going back on a Tuesday night... and honestly think twice about returning. Awesome drinks so the bar is great. All bar tenders are on point. Bar backs have excellent customer service. Manny made things go smoother this past visit. $950 spent for 3 people and the hosting was the biggest disappointment. I made reservations over 1 week ago. Confirmed text and phone. The hostesses on Tuesday could care less about their job or the customer. Sunday hostess amazing. After waiting 45 minutes at the bar we were seated at the bar booth where pot smell was constantly present. Not great for dinner ambiance. We asked to be seated at the dining halls and there was nothing available even though we had reservations. Food was A+, wines amazing, but it took me 40 min to relax and not be stressed about my poor choice for out of town guests.
Catch Hospitality, well known for their seaford restaurants, expanded into the steakhouse business... and boy did they knock it out the park!Pricey, but we are talking high end Manhattan Steak Houses, so that is expected.Delicious food, beautiful decor, and plenty of space. All in a convenient location. 5 stars, hands down!
For carnivores this place is a delight. The food was delicious. The presentation and preparation of the food was done impeccably. The wait staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. They were very attentive and the place had amazing vibe. Definitely worth a visit or two or three.
The food was amazing I have no Complains about the food and the timing of it ,,, but the service wasn’t so great .. as soon as I got my server Axel I felt stereotyped I guess because we was Hispanic and black even though he was black as well ,, I felt his energy was negative since the moment he’s started the order .. he made comments like it’s that all you guys are ordering when the order wasn’t even done,, he told us that we needed to other the full order because the kitchen gets confused when you order separate and it takes longer when this is suppose to be a fine dining restaurant ,, our tan was $900 dollars and he got a $170 dollars tip and he couldn’t even go back to the table to say thank you .. I feel that the servers are already expecting a big tip without working for it ,, and by the way I’m in the service industry as well,, I know what to expect when I go to a restaurant because I’m a waitress ,, I hope this review helps the service in that Restaurant because the food was amazing.
When I arrived my table was not ready, so I went to the bar. I sat at the bar for 10 minutes, and none of the 4 bartenders acknowledged me. They never greeted me or even gave me a menu. After a 15 minute wait my table was ready. The tables are jam packed together, so you can barely get in and out without rubbing against the stranger next to you. It is also extremely loud. If your looking to chat with your party, this isnt the place. The food took about 40 minutes. When it arrived, it was very good. I had the filet, waffle fries, and blue cheese spinach. The service was rushed and the waiter was very short. He would just walk off while still speaking. Overall the food is delicious but the service is sub par.
Really really average. Check in experience was chaos. Their staff were like headless chickens. Food was OK. You are not made to feel special here, Id feel bad for anyone saving money to go here for a special occasion. You have to compare Catch to all others of steak restaurants in NYC it holds itself to and to that point, there are way, way better options in the city in terms of quality of steak, customer service, value and overall experience. Skip.
Service was horribly slow. We had to wait 30 minutes before being sitted, then another 20 minutes before we had a server to provide us a menu, we didn’t get our appetizer until an hour in after we order. The food was average and overprice given the wait time. I would not recommend going here, there are better steakhouse in NYC. Do not go here because of the name. You can get a better steak and service at Outback for 1/4 of the cost.
I am not being hyperbolic when I say this was the worst and most far-fetched fine dining experience of my life. Initially, we were very impressed with the decor and ambiance as we walked in. We were guided to the main bar as our table was being set up when we ran into NY rapper Ja Rule, which was super cool and reinforced our decision to eat here. Little did we know this celebrity sighting foreshadowed a vastly different experience. First off, our server was very informative and guided us through the menu which was appreciated. The appetizers were good and I especially enjoyed the eggplant meatballs and pretzel sticks with truffle butter. But things started getting strange where the staff were clearly not communicating and missing cues. I had sparkling water and TWO waiters back to back were pouring still water into it and neither gave me a fresh cup even after I corrected their error. Next, they took our plates away after eating our first appetizer, but never came back with fresh sets until we asked for them 5-10 mins later. I ordered the 12oz dry aged rib eye, medium-cooked. The inside was definitely medium but the crust was burnt to holy hell (please see picture), which was disappointing considering this was a steakhouse. The kicker of this whole experience was my wife and her friend ordered two flights of Japanese wagyu where they grill it on a hot stone in front of you. The wagyu server was very informative as he cooked and explained each piece. However, he forgot to mention he was giving both flights on one plate. As a result, my wife unknowingly ate 8 slivers of wagyu for $170. When we reached out to our main waiter to clarify, he gave us an unwelcoming attitude as he said “don’t you remember I said it was four pieces per flight?!” However, for a restaurant with 4 $$$$, you would think they would know who ordered the flights and served the food accordingly. We were taken aback by his comment but we still ordered a third flight for our friend, at our expense. At the end of our meal, we still gave 20% gratuity but confronted the waiter to let him know there was a clear lack of communication and quality of service with their waitstaff. After hearing us, the waiter gave complimentary ice creams for the birthday couple and complimentary espresso martini shots, which were delicious. The cherry on top was that they forgot to give us spoons for the ice creams and we had to ask for them after waiting 5-10 minutes. To conclude, it was very fitting we ran into Ja Rule at Catch Steak because this place is the ‘Fyre Festival’ of fine dining restaurants. Brilliant in decor and aesthetics but extremely poor in execution. We were recommended to come here by our friends who contrastingly had a good experience. Maybe the Catch team were off their game tonight but we will surely not come back and warn others of our experience. I never give one star reviews but this place deserves it.
A quick trip to NYC led to multiple visits to Catch Steak. Not Catch, Catch STEAK. The staff, phenomenal. The food, delicious. The atmosphere, trendy. They place hip hop music, not too loud at all but a mix of new and older hits. Our favorites were the blue cheese creamed spinach (addicted, superior to average steak house spinach), any filet, and all DESSERTS!IMPORTANT note: they do cook their steaks correctly, if you want medium rare, youll get it. Thank goodness! This is something that drives me nuts at a lot of other restaurants. FLAVOR is on point. We tried multiple to verify this: recommend the truffle butter filet or chili-rubbed New York strip. We are the spinach on top of the steaks because it was just so great together. We enjoyed three different apps. All were tasty, no complaints at all. I will say though the scampi was smaller than expected but packed with flavor and clearly a delicacy (see photo). The Hellfire roll and tuna tartare were also great!Desserts - my favorite was probably the butter cake. Just a classic but with the twist of coconut cream & sorbet. Lovely! The most unique is the fruit loop cheesecake. A very fun remix to what I would consider a boring dessert. The show stopper is the Baked Alaska that is lit on fire at your table. It is VERY sweet but oh so tasty. Each of these are easily shared with 2 people. The staff here = fantastic. Our favorite host was Sarah, she is our go to gal. Travis & Nick at the entrance are wonderful, friendly and full of great NYC suggestions (being not from NYC I also appreciate their seriousness about COVID vaccinations). Our first server Martin was ABSOLUTELY wonderful. Karl runs the show and is on top of it, courteous & welcoming. Just a truly fantastic group here. I wish this place was in Seattle, it feels like home. Will be back, just dont know when because well Seattle is kind of far away!
The setting is beautiful. Yesterday was my first time there on a last min run. The waitress we had was very rude. I asked her about recommendations, and also explained how I didn’t want anything sweet. She seemed annoyed and just kept recommending me anything to eat. No help at all. I would asked about the appetizers and Remy would just say whatever to get me out the way. The wait was 1 hour. She even forgot our waters and was kind of rude when I didn’t understand what kind of water I wanted. The steak was pretty good but not worth the price. I would like to come here again but have better service.
Disappointing to say the least! Overrated and a tourist trap. Drink time wait 25 minutes, food wait one hour and 20 minutes the- service is lacking understandably so, pandemic recovery. Not one person came to apologize for the short staffing or wait times. With a fully sat dining room and what seemed like 2 servers - management should really do a better job at stepping up to help. Not to mention when we finally asked for a manager, she came over and rudely said “we can buy you a dessert but that’s it “ we didn’t ask for dessert. Good food although, not the greatest steak for what’s to be considered a steak house.Go for the ambience, a drink at the bar but not for a great dining experience! Wouldn’t recommend it.
My friends wanted to treat me out for my birthday and needless to say it wasn’t the best experience. We waited 45 minutes for our table. When we were finally seated our waitress didn’t approach us for another 15-20 minutes to take our drink order, didn’t bring napkins/cloth to the table and took another 20 minutes to take our food order! We received our appetizer before our drinks and we didn’t get our food for another HOUR! The waitress has the audacity to come to the table and say “wanna hear a funny story? I lost your order. But it wasn’t lost for long. I remembered your order so I put it in based off of memory” excuse me?????????????????????? No. We legitimately did not eat until almost midnight for our 9:30 reservation!!!!! Shame on me for feeling pity for the server that she was over working herself but forget that. This used to be my favorite restaurant but last nights experience was ridiculous. We were severely disappointed! 0 customer service.
The food here is amazing ! They pace the appetizers and entrees perfectly. The food is expensive but in my opinion worth it. Great place for a birthday celebration. Our waitress was sweet and attentive. The only issue is we were seated outside and it was so humid and hot. It was so hard to enjoy the beautiful dinner when you’re swearing profusely but besides that I would come back!
Came here on back on March 3 with four other friends for a birthday. I arrived late and met the rest of them at the restaurant. When I arrived I was greeted by the very kind security guard who was standing outside, and then once I walked inside I was greeted by the hostess at the front. After I told her the name of the reservation for the birthday, she took my temperature and then her coworker walked me to the table. Both the hostess and her coworker were extremely nice. Among the five of us, we ordered a variety of different dishes and alcoholic beverages. Also I should add that our waitress was extremely helpful and very patient when explaining all of the different things on the menu to us.In the end, our bill came out to around $940+ before tip. Something that really stuck out to me about the whole dining experience was the convenience of how each person can pay the bill. The waitress gave us a portable credit card scanner machine type thing and we each would input how much we want to be charged. This completely saved all of us the hassle of deciding who was going to put the whole thing on their card, and then that one person having to hunt everyone down to pay them back.Overall, Catch Steak has a beautiful interior and they respect all COVID-19 restaurant guidelines in NYC. The biggest thing to know is that this is a very expensive restaurant, but the service, food, and experience makes it all completely worth it.
Poor service. We had to wait almost three hours just for our food. Let me start from the beginning, our reservation for 2 was scheduled for 9:30. We weren’t seated until 10:45! The hostess was not welcoming at all! She was even rude! No hello or good evening, Tasha was her name. She basically just shoved us to the back to the bar and that’s where my company and I waited for an hour to be seated. We finally get a table!! As we were looking over the menu our waitress took a while before coming to us and asking if we wanted any water. We were waiting and waiting and no water the best part is she was taking care of every other table except ours! Eventually the manager Carl came over and took great care of us he even took our order and wrote it on a tiny piece of paper. Of course our waiter came as soon as she sees Carl serving us but she was too late at that point. Carl gave us a complimentary bottle of water and also complimented our drinks. Back to the waitress, she decided “jokingly” mention to us that we were her hardest table of the night. 😖 Sadly, at this time it’s already 11:30! The only thing that has come out to the table at this time was our drinks, and our sushi roll. We sat and waited, and waited finally our steaks come out and it’s 12:45 at this point. Who eats steak at 12:45?! The saddest part is I drove from Jersey to experience this place for the first time.
Excellent food and service, but the noise level is ear piercing. If youre going to celebrate a big win at work or looking to impress your date but not actually hear what theyre saying this is the place. If you were looking for something romantic, maybe someplace else
Super fun atmosphere and appetizers like the king crab rolls were amazing. Steak was fantastic and seasoned and cooked to perfection. Drinks were curated nicely and my only critique would be they choose liquor bases more carefully but I have extensive experience with liquor.
Not a place I would recommend amongst others in the city. More hype and less taste than you would find in a high end steak house, unless you love salt. My son had a well done steak (ordered medium) but my steak was great. Server was horrible. I know it’s hard to find help, but the 3 tables around us all seemed to be waiting on him. He didn’t once check in us, nor did he ask us how our meal was at any point. Simple good service 101. I think for these prices and quality, nyc has better to offer anyone.
For the price you pay here the service should be tightened up. Everyone should be done before the plates are cleared per course. If you sit outside EVERY glass should be filled with water an ice. Silverware should be clean if it is rolled up. Food is great but small portions for a steakhouse. Steaks were cooked to perfection. Appreciated the ambiance.
Advertising a table as indoor when its on an outdoor courtyard with a few heaters dotted around is really misleading. Our table of 8 spent 90% of the meal shivering in coats and scarves. This was made worse by the painfully slow service as we waited an age for a set of undersized starters which were average at best as far too many ingredients had been thrown on a plate (honey should never be put on burrata). The staff were very friendly and tried to help out but in general it was overpriced, average food, served at a speed and in an environment that was equally glacial.
Service was amazing. From the minute we checked in until the minute we left. Our server, Christian was phenomenal! Both our steaks were cooked perfectly. The creamed blue cheese spinach was the best Ive ever had and the mashed potatoes were beyond delicious. The cabernet from Washington state paired perfectly with our steaks. The restaurant was decorated beautifully. The digital check was so impressive. Loved it!
We’ve been to Catch about twice now. First time for my gfs birthday and most recently to celebrate a new job and Catch has not disappointed either time. While the price tag is a little hefty, you’re getting for what you pay for. The food is amazing, the steaks are juicy and flavorful and the service is great.
I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. From the minute you arrive at the restaurant to the moment you leave, the entire team is welcoming, hospitable and friendly. Sherif is the BEST server!! He is cool, knowledgeable and always happy to help you. The food is FANTASTIC!! I have been here many times and everything is always cooked to perfection. If you have any special requests, they honor them happily,Chef Orlando Soto seems to create his desserts with lots of love, care and ingenuity. Each one is tastier than the next. When asked about one of the desserts, he even came out to say hi and tell us about it. He is a gem! I highly suggest you come here for a meal and make sure to have a few desserts.. they are truly heavenly.
Very unorganized when you enter and the service was the same. We were barely done with the apps and the busboy came to clear the table for the next course, and then we didn’t hear from anyone for a while. Food was good as usual, just feel like you shouldn’t be rushed out for how much money you spend there. Probably wouldn’t return again.
I have NEVER been so disrespected in my life. They kept me waiting an hour on my birthday and they are also the only restaurant ON THE PLANET that doesn’t allow you to bring a birthday cake. The Maitre D’ Gabby is RUDE and condescending. I guess they also forgot that a year ago they couldn’t even open their doors and now they have ZERO respect for their guests instead of being grateful for their business. Who needs to wait for their mediocre food and service with multiple better restaurants within a stone’s throw that will be thankful for your business.
I made a reservation for 9:15pm and once we got there, we were were told to wait at the bar until our table was ready. We waited over an hour until we decided to leave. I let the hostess know that we wanted to cancel our reservation and leave and she apologizes and proceeds to tell me that her records show that we requested to sit at the bar. NO WE DIDN’T. This dinner was for my fiancé’s birthday, which has been ruined. 0 stars. Would not recommend.
3 stars for the bar otherwise Id give it 1.My husband and I stopped by STK for our favorite cocktails for my husbands birthday on Sunday night. Then we were joining his twin brother and wife at Catch Steak down the street.I had a reservation for 7p and there was a small crowd in the lobby area. When we arrived, the hostess told us to wait at the bar because we were waiting on our other couple who got caught in traffic. They were about 10 min late. The bar was great and wed love to return! Well-crafted cocktails and cool smoke effect. Plenty of seating, good crowd, and everyone was super friendly. When our couple arrived they notified the hostess, but we were asked to wait again at the bar. We sat at the bar for an additional 15/20+ min and our other couple waited by the host stand to not miss our call. Mind you there were plenty of open tables.Someone noticed they had been standing there a long while and went to find us a table. We walked past so many open tables as they seated us in the cold patio area. We asked to sit at a different table and mentioned how we were celebrating our twin hubbies bday, only to be responded with we have 400 other people coming in the next 2 hours. Okay....and? We had a reservation too and had been waiting, plus there were soooo many empty tables. Then we sat there waiting, one of the twins shivering, and it took such a long time for the server to come. Our great experience at Catch Steak quickly turned into a cold one (pun intended) and we decided to call it. I quickly made a reservation at STK down the street and we left. As we were leaving, the server finally arrived, but unfortunately we were turned off.STK was so accommodating allowing us to take the last booth even with the last minute resy. The guys were treated with several desserts and we had a good time! My husband and I frequent STK often so Catch Steak was an attempt to try something new. How unfortunate.
DO NOT GO HERE! Our group had a reservation for 930PM which we made 3 weeks prior and it appears the management team overbooked (our server told us over 1,000 resos) we had to stand in the PACKED bar room and didnt sit until almost 11PM, we then didnt eat until 12PM because our poor server was exhausted and running around. The food is average AT BEST, total waste of money.
I usually frequent here often with my husband, and children. I love it so much I recommended my brother to celebrate his birthday here. My husband and I arrived early, when doing so we usually just sit at the bar and wait for our reservation. We were denied to go in which was fine being that we was a party of 6. The rest of our party arrived 25 mins late (my party called to let the restaurant know they were running late)so we missed our initial reservation which was at 9pm but managed to get a 9:30pm online. The person in front was extremely rude. He refused to let us in (it was 6 of us). We asked for an explanation and he wouldn’t oblige to anything. He dismissed us, as if we were Peasants didn’t bother to honor our reservations. When I asked to speak to a manager, he laughed and said “I am the manager” I politely asked to speak to someone higher then him, he rudely responded “there’s no one higher then me I’m the man here.” It was so unfortunate how we was racially profiled. I then asked for his name he said his name was JOSEPH. He didn’t give us an explanation as to why we couldn’t get in. It was so embarrassing. I’ve never dealt with anything like this. My recommendation, and the high expectations of this great place went out the window. Definitely won’t spend my money there any more.We ended at TAO. Last minute they let us reserve and we were able to celebrate my brothers birthday. At this point I just think Joseph at CATCH racially profiled us. So sad we still live in those times.
From start to finish an awful AWFUL experience. I do not know how this place is still in business. Rude, not accommodating, dismissive hostesses who have very clearly literally zero education in the hospitality industry. FOR STARTERS. Then amidst the two floor beautiful restaurant is a small red booth area by a bar where they will sit POC ONLY. It is so blatantly obvious and an absolute shame to see this as a reality. While sitting in this booth area for a mere hour 1) our steak came ABSOLUTELY RARE. Red and cold. After politely asking if they could cook the steak properly (anyone who knows anything about steak as well will know that the juices are sealed and by us cutting into it and them having to re heat the steak is already a poorer experience) to which the waitress responded its better that way?? Are you serious? 2) the couple next to us ordered a bone-in steak. The steak came BONELESS. If a steak says bone in on your menu and it arrives BONELESS, its a problem, at the very least false advertising. After making the waiter aware of this, a manager came over and made some long speech essentially not apologizing and saying oh theres different cuts of meat but this is the one you ordered long spiel trying to drown in words about cuts. Doesnt take a steak expert to know that BONE IN steaks on the menu should arrive with the bone-in. 3) the table next to us that was four girls out for a birthday celebration had to sit in the small booth area, two two person tables pushed together. Only table in the place organized like that. They were then scolded for taking PHOTOS. Doesnt take a rocket scientist to realize that something fishy is going on here and its not the food. Tell your friends. Do not give this place your business. I have never written a google review in my life and have never been so absolutely appalled at a business.
Worst dining experience ever. One person in our party of 6 was missing and although they didn’t want to seat us at first they finally agreed, but warned that we would be kicked out in 2 hrs and that their policy was that we couldn’t order anything before she arrived. (the place was empty for almost the entire time!) They finally agreed to let us order drinks! Then they said their policy is to put appetizer and dinner orders in at the same time! The stress with the rude staff was not worth the cost! I gave it two stars for the food which was ok, but took off points for it being overpriced the extremely rude staff and ridiculous policies which made no sense especially when you spend a fortune on drinks.
This restaurant is AWESOME!! The food is DELICIOUS & the decor is BREATHTAKING!! Shout-out to our server Sierra & Craig who brought our drinks. They both were very friendly & informative about the menu. Im DEFINITELY coming back here again & will be telling my friends about it.
This is how our birthday reservation went..1. The bar lost our credit card. After finding it 30 min later we were not offered anything.. not even an apology. From the manager.2. I had multiple waiters who were not in touch with each other. I was asked 3 times within a minute if I would like more wine.3. asked the manager if they do anything for birthdays, “he replied yes, what table are you at?” So I pointed and he said, “great I’ll let your server know” after the $400 check for 3 people was brought over I went to another manager and asked what they do for birthdays and he said if you buy a desert we will put a candle on it.You mean to tell me for $133 a person that you don’t offer even a scoop of ice cream for a birthday? Not even after losing our card, Shame.4. Food was wonderful. Service sucked. Mostly management.5. 4 of us ordered 3 med-rare steaks that took over an hour to come to the table. And the place was mostly empty when we arrived. How it shall remain, after you read this review.
First time back eating out in a year from eating out 3 times a week before the pandemic. Food was good, the drinks was amazing!!! Like wow. I would definitely go back just to drink. Our waiter was great, management was amazing but those girls to the front very snobby and rude, they should work on their attitudes being that’s the first people everyone see, this isn’t vanderpump rules, fix your personality’s
Catch Steak was by far absolutely indisputably amazing. From the hip vibe, to the super cool waiter Martin, and the ever so mouth watering, cooked flawlessly Truffle Butter Filet, my kiddos and I couldn’t have asked for more. The Blue Cheese Creamed Spinach is a must!!! The fries are very tasty (the best my son says he’s ever had), and the asparagus was cooked to perfection. We’ve tried numerous steak places in a gazillion places. I can say with the utmost confidence, this ranks in our top 5 and will be a NYC staple in our book.
It appears that staff deliberately “add rounds of drinks” to the table to increase the bill.Half the table had cocktails and the waitress brought back another round for everyone without asking everyone if they wanted more.I informed her I didn’t order another cocktail as my just arrived 5 min prior. The waiters seemed very busy and did not come to the table as they should have. The steak was also the smallest piece of steak we’ve ever seen. And I’ve visited plenty of steakhouses, and this size for the price was a joke. Terrible . Rip off. Won’t be coming back here.
Were visiting family from NorCal. Went to CATCHSTEAK but was very disappointed from the time we sat down. Place was empty, we were seated at the table with the AC blowing directly on us & table needed to be stabilized & we had to be moved. Asked for corkage for the wine we brought from Cali, Napa Vly. (No they didnt carry this wine) but they refused to allow this. Orders requested as medium would come RAW in the center??? Most orders were well done & steaks were overly salty. The best thing in this restaurant was the blue cheese wedge salad & the service staff but it did not make up for the food.
Love it here! My favorite Drink is the mile high club.If you are vegan you will enjoy the fries and the “chickun” Parmesan. (Please have more vegan options on your menu!)If you are into seafood, I LOVE the whole Branzino (which I wish they brought back.) And the shrimp appetizer is incredibly good but ridiculously priced for such a small portion. But I love it so I cave in every time.Shout out to the Manager Lee who was so kind to me when I ordered take out one evening. His level of hospitality was pristine.
We went last night. It was overall an excellent Dinning experience. They take your temperature and make everyone that’s waiting stand six feet apart. They take the PPE regulations very seriously and it shows. Everyone is super friendly. From when you walk in to where you sit at table. Emily came over and introduced herself and was very knowledgeable and friendly. Took the time explain the wines for us. Was a big help. Our server was excellent as well. As you can see from the pictures we had most of the items on the menu so had a good experience. I recommend the duck fries and porter house for two. The desserts were very good as well. The apps were fair. Excellent presentation but the shrimp could be bigger and the crab, more crab. The bacon was a little scant too. Especially for a NYC steak house. But was an excellent scene. They did an amazing job with the decor. We will be back. I highly recommend it.
First off, we made a reservation for 2 and wound up having to wait an hour to be sat. The men out front put us in this small private waiting area and completely forgot about us. We had to walk out of the separate area into the general waiting area to get noticed and be sat (which was super uncomfortable because it was packed full of couples with no social distancing). Note, Ive worked in the restaurant industry and to say that this night was a mess would be an understatement. Either the owner has no regard for their customers time and overpacked the reservations/walk-in seating or the hosts arent great at properly assigning tables for reservations and walk-ins.I will say that the restaurant is beautiful. It has a great bar and I felt super safe eating there during times like these. However, I will say that is based on luck alone, because there were some indoor areas that we couldve been sat that seemed concerning. Our waiter, David, was awesome and super kind. The drinks were beautiful and delicious. The steaks and bread were good. We did have an issue with one of our side dishes being undercooked, but the head chef, Michael, was super nice and gave us a complementary dessert on the house and it was delicious. The service outside of the initial hosting was sublime. All in all, Im giving it a 2 out of 5 because of the unprofessionalism. Im typically understanding when it comes to a reservation and wouldnt mind waiting for a table to clear. However, an hour wait for a table that was booked days in advance is just not a great first impression to me. As well as that, the handling of the entire situation was just messy. No use of the waitlist system—it was a if we see you standing in front of us, we will seat you first despite whether youre a walk-in or reservation sorta deal. Not my jam, but the food is seriously delicious. All in all, Id try to go on a night that isnt very busy. Im sure youd have an awesome time if you can have guaranteed seating in a timely manner.
Service was great, drinks were strong and I loved the butternut squash fries. However, way overpriced for such small portions. Steak was good and well seasoned but overcooked and dry. I can get better portions and juicier steak at Mastro’s and better prices at Fogo de Chao. Also, I ordered two of the same drink; the first one tasted much better than the second and I hate inconsistency. The decor was nice though and I would consider returning.
Sherief was our server and he was phenomenal! He was attentive, informative and polite. Everything we ordered was mouth watering and delicious. We got multiple appetizers, the porterhouse steak, and the baked Alaska dessert which is A MUST try. Overall great experience, food, and ambiance. Would highly recommend
Went here with my Girlfriend for her bday dinner and from the start the staff was amazing, starting with the reception to our server. The food was explained throughout each course and was delicious. Definitely try the bacon app and the oysters. The steaks were amazing too
The general manager at this establishment lacks complete professionalism. My family reserved a table a week in advanced for a party of 4 for my mothers birthday. To begin with, we were not seated until about 45 mins after our reservation. Patrons of this restaurant were not social distancing and the bouncer was more interested in chatting up the guests than enforcing the 6ft rule. For those of you who have never been, CatchSteak is definitely a party type restaurant. It definitely caters to the crowd of clubbers, not family friendly. When we finally arrived at the table, we were given a subpar dining table in the middle of the room, which was the only stand alone dining table at the restaurant. It was the kind of table equivalent to placing a table in front of a bathroom. All of the other tables in the dining areas were booths. We confronted the hostess, explaining how this table was in the middle of the main foot traffic, once again violating good social distancing practice. She explained that another table could not be ready for another 25-30 mins. At this point, it has already been 1 hour since our reservation and we havent sat down. Unsatisfied, we spoke to the manager who gave us the same run around answer. In between the conversation, a party paid and left their table; however we were not given that table. Instead this time, the hostress gave us the run around answer that the table could only be seated with 5 people, even though the previous party had 4 people, just like us. When I brought up that fact, they said that other patrons have been waiting for an hour. I continue to explain to them how we as customers as well have been waiting for an hour and given the most subpar table. At this point, the manager called her general manager to speak with me. When I explained the entire situation, he simply said you can either wait or leave. For an establishment that charges $90 per plate, their management was shockingly curt. As a party that was expressing repeated disappointment and dissatisfaction with a restaurant, their staff failed to provide any sense of professionalism. In addition, they dismissed our feelings and egregiously told us that if we were unhappy then you may leave, goodnight.I have never in my life experience such rude behavior from a general manager. Needless to say, we left. If you are the type of person who wanted to go to an elitist establishment that provides lip service and pushes around customers that might fit their vibe, then this place is for you. I have seen my fair share of pretentious restaurants in the city; however Catch has truly gone above and beyond on all the rest at providing a low quality experience. Worst customer service ever.
WORST NYC restaurant experience. The rudest staff I have ever met in my life. The manager was very rude and did not even explain the reasons why they could not put us at the table. They answer questions as if they want to get rid of you as soon as possible. Do not waste your time and money on this place. They ruined our holiday and mood.
Easily one of the worst steakhouse I’ve ever been to. Steak was overcooked. Waitress never came over after the steaks or brought out to check the temperature. Sat there for 25 minutes without being able to get her attention to have a steak that was not overcooked brought out. Ended up simply not ever getting to eat my steak because everyone else at the table was done With their meal. Would not ever go back here
We ate here two days in the row. We ordered pretty much the same thing both days. The only difference was that first day I ordered AAA Japanese wagyu and the second time wagyu fillet mignon. The reason why I didnt go for AAA Japanese wagyu is because the young man who tried to cook my first piece literally murdered it, at some point I had to tell him I think its cooked. Literally was giving us a speech for 2 min as he was cooking the first piece. (So I took 1 star off, management should make changes to the speech and teach staff how to cook it properly, 5 seconds on each side should have been enough). Second day we ordered the same appetizer the crab roll that gets torched in front of you the young man who brought it out claimed that there is no torch and tried to torch it with his cigarette lighter. After we both literally almost jumped and told him to stop and said that we were here yesterday and it was torched he left and came back with a torch telling us that the restaurant only has 1 torch and he found it. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Waitress later came by apologizing. (So I took another star). We definitely loved the food and place is beautiful but unless you know how food should be cooked you may have different experiences. For a restaurant that quality we expect better staff training.
For starters me and my friends were very excited to visit catch until the experience went completely undesirable. We got in a line despite having a reservation which is understandable for a Saturday. Then a literal 3 floor walk up no elevator to get to our seats. Before we ordered we noticed a small booth was available and asked to be moved. They had told us someone had actually requested that table and that it wouldn’t be possible. They also told us they couldn’t make any mock tails or virgin drinks at all only water or soda. Which is pretty impossible for a restaurant. So we order and eat. The food was okay definitely have had better steak in the city. By the time we finish eating and have been sitting for a while the table we wanted was still empty and there were no signs of people coming since it didn’t even have any utensils. We could have been there the whole time. Then we decide to take pictures as I’ve seen many people take pictures in Social media and the employees pass by several times issuing warnings about wearing masks even in photos. This was completely ridiculous as I’ve seen many girls that same week even take pictures throughout the location mask less. I guess the rules don’t apply when you have a following....
Wayy overpriced, don’t be fooled by the ambiance I’ve had better food at restaurants In jersey for less headaches and less money. The so call “parking attendant” from tao tried to hustle me for 60$ to park on public property, and they had construction cones erected blocking the street although there was no construction. 70$ or three pieces of steak the size of popcorn is ridiculous.
First of all, you have to get the wagyu which is cooked table side, melts in your mouth. I love the ambiance there, the place is beautiful. Second, our waiter Joe was extremely knowledgeable, all of his recommendations were amazing, he definitely knew his stuff. Already booked another reservation!
We made reservations for my Birthday on 1/2/20.I didnt like it at all..Its overpriced, we had reservations for 8 and wasnt seated until 8 45..We were freezing cold and had to keep our coats on the entire time..was super uncomfortable..I also felt like too many people were packed in the room. We had to keep ordering drinks just to get our blood warm. If you didnt eat fast, the cold air was making the food cold very fast. The manager kept coming around from around 9:40 to remind us that they close at 10..which is understandable with the laws..but they seated us at 8 45..Did not take our orders until 9 20...Horrible..However the food was tasty thats why they got 2 stars..I would never return..When I told the manager that we were cold..he did nothing..I believe he should have adjusted the bill..Never again.
First time going out since covid lockdown, had very high hopes. Atmosphere is excellent, bar selection was ok, some things were out.For a place that had steak in the name, was hoping for better. Steak was correctly cooked to order for myself and my friends, so thats a plus. Rib eye was completely bland. Usually, good meat is fine without anything, maybe some salt/pepper. In this case it tasted like an average piece of meat, not up to standard of high-priced steak. One friend had wagyu steak. It was very tender, as expected, but again, completely bland. The only steak that came out well was the aged cut that another friend ordered. Sides were good across a number of options.Desert selection was small, but very tasty. Mixed drinks were not great, multiple people at the table had different things and all made the same comments.Service was a little slow, so if youre hungry, youll need to be patient. Luckily having not seen each other in over a year, we were glad to be able to talk and catch up.
Food was excellent, drinks were excellent. For 2 people we paid $400 total with tip. The portions are tiny but very flavorful. We had the salmon cakes which were tiny but had a lot of flavor. We had the baked clams and the gigli pasta. For entre we each had a cowgirl steak which was also on the small side but cooked to perfection, we shared the butternut squash fries which were sooooooooooooo good and for desert we had 1 baked Alaska which I thought was so so but everyone raves about it and the warm butter cake which was tastier but not worth these prices. For drinks we had the lady 9f the night, under the bubbles (or something like that), golden pony boy and the apple cider drink. All the drinks were amazing and worth the $20 price tag. We will definitely come back.
The most 2 and half. Drinks was great. The only reason for the stars beside the 1 appetizers we loved which was the sashimi which was the best part of my whole meal. We order the 3 flight steak. Dont do it to your self unless you will get full with a slice of cold cuts. Thats how big the steak was. And only 3 small slice that fits in a Ritz cracker. We was still hungry after so we order the 24 oz steak that was filled with more pepper then steak.
First off I’d like to say that I’m a huge fan of Catch franchise. I’ve been a frequenter for years and obviously go for their amazing sushi. 😋 I learned about Catch steak opening pre pandemic and was excited about it because like who doesn’t love a good steakhouse right?! Anyways i finally made it out to see what the hypes all about and can I just say this place is definitely overhyped !!! My husband made reservations for my birthday as a surprise (on a Monday night) usually on a Monday night restaurants are slow (my husband is in the restaurant biz so our expectations were very high and we’re experienced restaurant connoisseur’s/we are foodies/we get around good restaurants in the city ). He knew we would be spending top dollar because again it’s catch franchise right?! Well let’s start with our arrival. We got seated down we ordered our wine and our pretzel bread. Waitress was slow bringing our wine. Waitress comes back takes our order down and as we are telling her what we wants she automatically assumed my husband and I were going to share the 12 oz bone In filet??? Anyways we said we wanted two of those , heirloom carrots, asparagus, and “the best mashed potatoe on this side” (false we’ve had way better mash in our lives). The waitress lets us know in advance that our steaks would take roughly around 30 mins to come out for that reason we ordered the pretzel bread with their truffle butter spread. The bread arrived 45 mins later it was ok it wasn’t warm as I would’ve expected. We ordered our steaks med well they finally came out first off all start with the presentation was eh! Nothing crazy about it but one thing that really turned me off was that my steak was literally encrusted in black pepper. It was awfully salty and it killed the entire taste of the steak 👎🏼. The heirloom carrots and asparagus were fantastic that was probably our favorite thing. We got two bottles of Castello di Volpai (chianti red) it was great at almost $100 a bottle really good wine very smooth. Let’s move onto dessert we got the snickers baked Alaska did not like it I hated it!! Was too salty and all the combinations of flavors was just not it! I was looking forward to something more chocolatey and sweet. We couldn’t finish our bottle of wine so the waitress corked it for us but didn’t even give us a bag to take it in 🤦🏻♀️. It took another waitress who saw us leaving with the bottle in our hand like it was BYOB restaurant to offer us a bag. All in all this place is overhyped, for no reason! I can get a better steak at capital grill, STK , or Peter Lugers. If you want to go just to say you went there just be prepared to spend some big cash after gratuity our bill for two was $591. Won’t be back and most definitely wouldn’t recommend it! Trial and error like my husband likes to say!
Cons - Only one. The appetizer portions are way too small. We even ordered double of a certain appetizer. The portion size for the appetizers is ideal for just two people that are not big eaters. In no way can any of the appetizers be shared with more than 2 people. The burrata can only be eaten by one person so it was difficult trying to share that with multiple people.Pros - Every thing we ordered was absolutely delicious. The quality and preparation of the food is evident in how good the taste was. The steak was amazing as well. This is definitely a place that will be frequented by myself. If you are looking for a great steak with great sides to compliment I would give this place a visit! The only reason that I did not give a perfect 5 stars was just due to the small portions of the appetizers. Worth checking out!
Probably the best dining experience Ive ever had. Service is exceptional and the staff makes you feel welcome. Recommend not making a meal of the tableside steak however its worth the experience to do the flight. Buy a larger steak off the menu to share if youd like. Snickers cake is great as is the bacon appetizer. Worth the money.
We made reservations 3 weeks in advance for a Filtered greenhouse. We were running late and we got told that they were going to cancel the reservations if we weren’t there by 7:45 and it was 7:40 when we called. we got there and they told us that it’s not in there notes that we reserved for a greenhouse. but our receipt clearly said that we got a ventilated greenhouse. they then sat us in the middle of a bunch of people Unmasked and not socially distant at all. They proceeded to yell at us and tell us that we were wrong and that they cancelled our reservation completely and had security escort us out when we weren’t even starting anyone and there was practically no one waiting. I will NEVER recommend this terrible disrespectful restaurant ever again. If you can find somewhere else to go take it it’s not worth the money and it’s not worth your time. They only cater to club culture and you have to walk up 3 flights of stairs just to eat.
Greenhouse reservation is a scam! I booked a reservation for February 27th at 7:30pm for a Greenhouse and was told I would need to pay 175 dollars per person and agreed. I then arrived the day of and was told I had no such greenhouse reservation and was treated extremely rudely by staff and management. If you are looking for a nice steak dinner go elsewhere. This restaurant caterers to celebrities and club goers.
The place is VERY loud, we had a hard time listening to each other across the table. Also, we had to wait 30min AFTER our reservation time to be seated. That being said, the food was very good, probably one of the best steaks I’ve had in NYC. Service was just ok. The starters didn’t arrive at the same time, and my husband and I felt a little coerced into having drinks. But the waitress was very friendly.Decoration is great.
Overall disappointing. I’ve been to many high end NYC restaurants but unfortunately it’s not on my top list.1) The food was mediocre. Steak was good, but sides were disappointing and expensive. They were supposed to be sized for sharing but are really only for 1 person. Salads were tasty, but again, overpriced for the size. After ordering a bone-in filet the waitress returned indicating that was not available. Unprofessional to have not checked this prior to taking our order.2) Service was ok, but not what you expect at a high end restaurant. The waitress outfits were odd and not attractive nor professional.3) Tables are tiny and they are standard throughout the restaurant from what I could see. It was a real challenge to enjoy a meal with 4 adults on a table barely big enough for 2.4) We started in the lounge for a drink. Cocktails were average (the Moscow mule I had was disappointing). The bartenders seemed occupied with other duties and were often seen mingling with each other, chatting and not paying attention to those at the bar. When I received my first cocktail the female bartender was stopped by the other bartender about putting in too much mint. It felt awkward and uncomfortable watching their interaction. Again, just not what you expect at a high-end restaurant.4) Price - extremely excessive for what you receive. In my opinion you can’t demand high end pricing and provide mediocre food and service. This is a new restaurant and we were excited to visit, but left unfulfilled and won’t be returning. The systems in place need a lot of attention and adjustment.
This restaurant is a place to visit once. The restaurant is decorated very nicely and clean. The wait time on a Wednesday night was really long but I believe then process could be improved go expedite the service. The waiters and waitresses are really friendly and knowledge about the menu. I would rate the food to be average but you can see how they are trying to give everything on their menu their own flare. I may not visit again but its definitely worth a visit.
DO NOT eat here!!! Management/owner discriminate on young black men and dont treat people with respect. Came to celebrate a birthday dinner here and took pictures by the stairway and 4 security guards approached us and told us to leave immediately. When we asked for what reason one of the men stated because the manager wants you guys to leave. This is no way to treat people who come and make reservations for a birthday celebration. We were observed and harassed by management/security from the moment we walked in. Please dont support this poor establishment
Paid 300 for tiny portions for vegetarian chicken parm and French fries however that wasn’t the issue the bathroom was .If I would of seen the bathroom first I would of left . I notified the manager how disgusted I was and he said okay and walked away 😒. I don’t even want to picture the kitchen . Reservations don’t matter I waited 30 min after mine . Im disappointed . Don’t over charge people when your cleanliness is not up to standard. Such a shame .
, we had a terrible experience. They made us wait over an hour regardless of the fact that we made a reservation. TOur waitress was not pleasant at all .the food took forever . All our orders came wrong . Someone came over and asked us if everything was ok , and we complained. They changed our waitress. His name was Jazz , he was very nice , He took very good care of our party of 13. He made sure that we left the restaurant happy . He gave us free deserts and free shots . The food was very delicious. The place is gorgeous. Customer service sucks . Thank god for our waiter Jazz . This place need more people like him
Great ambiance - even during COVID. Uniquely, the patio is off the street and fully feels like it’s a regular open restaurant. The tables were spaced well enough that I didn’t feel worried and of course staff wore their masks. My favorite item was the tuna tartare - we’re pescatarian so didn’t sample the wagyu but I’m sure it would be delicious. I give 4 stars only because I ordered the Dover Sole at Market Price and had a bit of price shock :) Cocktails aren’t cheap either at $20ea but are delicious.
My best friend made reservations at Catch steak 11/20/20 7:30pm for 10 people. They told us In order to make reservations for 10 people it’ll be $2000 minimum so he signed the contract. Only 6 of us was able to show up the manager said to us since we signed a contract that he can’t do anything about it we will have to pay $2000 regardless. He noticed that we weren’t pleased so he came back and said to us as a whole that the best he can do is $1200 which we all agreed on. we were happy about the agreement we had. At the end of the night we went over a little the bill came up to $1409.80 they still found a way to charge us nearly $2000 it came up to $1800.92 it was a bad experience I don’t think I’ll be back there again. Respectfully
DONT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE! We had a reservation at 7:15. They said they were backed up with reservations and didnt seat us until an HOUR later- and this was on a weekday. There were 4-5 hostesses at the front yet no one knew what was going on. The food was average at best and took forever to be served. This place is overpriced for portion and quality and the atmosphere is pretentious and so overrated. There are a million great places to get steak in the city and Catch is NOT one of them!
Very nice, albeit expensive restaurant for all things meat. Its in the name. Very nice small cuts of meat. All beautifully cooked, presented and served to excellence. The hostesses (who greet you at the door and take you to your table) are incredibly attractive, shame they really dont want to be there. I was in a group of eight and would have appreciated being directed to the cloakroom. We werent. Perhaps an oversight, except for the other tables all experiencing the same predicament. The wait staff fortunately were (thankfully) able to recognise we were there to celebrate a member of the group and spending more than we would normally would ie they were normal people. In hindsight, I think I would have sent our lovely hostess back to the cloakroom with all our coats (maybe ☺️).Reading my review to my wife: she disagrees with my review of the food: expensive and not worth the money.
They were extremely rude and unprofessional to me and my family. This place is an overhyped scam and I wouldn’t recommend anyone to support this business. The girls working at the front as hostesses the night of 2/27/21 were extremely rude and dismissive. They’re only rated 4.1 stars as it is don’t waste your time and money. There are plenty of other well rated and better quality restaurants.
Booked reservations for 5 people and they wanted to give us a table in between two families to seat 4 people when we have 5 people . Then the woman who sat us down said we couldn’t sit at a bigger table because we didn’t have 6 people with us ! I looked around and every other table had 5 or less people ! I would not recommend ! She also had a nasty attitude after I told her that every other table has less than 6 people . Horrible service
I would give them zero stars if I could. Reservations for 830. We show up at 837 and wait on a line. It takes us 20 minutes to get to the hostess who tells us theres a 15 minute grace period and the kitchen is closing. When we told her we were waiting on the line she said there is no line. What utter bullsh*t. I am NEVER eating there again.

2021-10-09Had an amazing experience at Catch Steak. I was so happy that the place was packed. The service was absolutely incredible and the place had an amazing vibe. We had the burrata with Brooklyn honey, the porterhouse steak, the waffle fries, the baked king crab hand roll and the charred broccoli. All were absolutely incredible. For dessert we had the Snickers baked Alaska! It had an amazing presentation. I highly recommend it. Can’t wait to go back.

2021-11-25Came last minute for a steak dinner and boy am I glad I did! The staff and service was absolutely amazing. Our server was super sweet and really kept an eye out on our dining. Our plates were cleared almost immediately which I have a love & hate relationship with but Catch Steak did a great job at it. The wine selection was pretty decently sized. The seafood apps were beyond (recommend the tuna tartare and baked clams). And the steaks were perfectly cooked (I got the 10oz chili NY strip and it was just how I wanted it). We got a complementary dessert and the manager was truly such a sweet human and clearly wanted her guests leaving happy. All in all, on my list for repeat visits!

2022-01-17The fish was very delicious and expensive lol $120 for my plate. The spinach was pretty good. And the customer service was pretty good. More life an upscale vibe, with the way they serve wine and the mood of the place.

2022-06-06Great all around, modern, hip Steakhouse. Service was great from security greeting us to the end of dinner service. Came here for my brother in laws graduation dinner, party of 5 plus a baby. The security offered to carry the stroller up as there was no ramp access, however we opted for the elevator. Our server Clayton was amazing and knowledgeable of the food. His recommendations were spot on. Interior is nice and chic and the steaks were nicely cooked and juicy and finished with delicious dessert. A bit over priced, however, you are paying for ambiance as well which is levels above traditional steakhouses. Would recommend for celebrations or fancy outings. Photo shows branzino, wagyu Porter, cowgirl, and sides.

2021-09-04Please take a moment and read this review. Tonight was my first time eating at Catch Steak. What a grand experience. From the seating, our very informative friendly and polite server Joe, to the meal …. OMG, order the pretzel bread, drink don’t eat drink the truffle butter, artichoke, Cesar salad, mashed potatoes, creamed asparagus, creamed spinach …then the “fire” desert…. This was just a perfect evening and my husband enjoyed his birthday. When I thought it couldn’t get any better .. the manager Taylor came over introduced her self and treated us like royalty. Best time ever!!! I’m going back. Loved it!!!

2022-03-18Went for friends birthday and food was A1. Super expensive but at the end of the meal I was full and satisfied. Had great time with the girls here. A little drafty indoors but still had great time. Bathroom needs a little more upkeep for such a fancy place.

2022-01-23Everything is average but the service and the price… overpriced steaks, good appetizers, I actually liked the salad wedges much better than the steak.. had the truffle butter filet… nothing special for $61 ! Seriously… kinda disappointed for $100+ dinner per person … drinks were not very good … tried two of them … sent the first one back after tasting it and even got charged twice…

2022-02-08The food was delicious. The atmosphere was nice. The servers and other staff were all great. Everything was great until we were nearing the end of our meal. We hadnt even been offered dessert yet when a lady came over to ask how things were. Once we were done saying how great it was, she told us they had a reservation for that table in 5 minutes so we were going to need to move to the bar or leave. I have never had someone tell me anything like that at any other restaurant I have been to, and I eat out a lot! The best part is we were surrounded by tables of 4 that had been there longer than we were. I will never return based on that last 5 minutes, and thats a shame cause it was so good otherwise.
