Central Animal Hospital in other cities:
The staff and vets at Central Animal Hospital are the best. They are friendly and understanding. They approach your dog with care and treat them well while taking care of them. The doctors always take the time to explain everything and you dont ever feel rushed. @soupsammie lives to visit them.
Dr Woltz is our veterinarian. He is wonderful. He’s very relaxed and very friendly. He is extremely knowledgeable and explains things as he goes. He doesn’t recommend extra blood test, X-rays, etc. unless he 100% thinks they are necessary. So you are not paying for things you may not need at that time. He’s honest and very engaging.
My family has been a client of Central Animal Hospital since I was young. Now, 45 years later, I am still going there even though I moved to Rockland County. From front line staff, to assistants, techs, and doctors, service has always been the best. My numerous pets and I continue to be grateful for their care.
My experience with this hospital started several years ago. Everything was great, until the last 1-2 months which was around Jan 2021. My senior dog (Waffle) developed heart problem early last year. Docs and nurses there were so nice and treated my Waffle so well. Because of waffles accumulated fluid in her abdomen I had to take her to the vet 3 times a month. I couldn’t easily let my waffle go as she had been with me for more than 13 years. She was literally my first kid. Anyways, central animal hospital gradually lost their patience. They started to charge for extra hour waffle had to stay under their care in addition to the hospitalization fee for extra half a day she stayed there. Which never happened in the past. But I understood that and paid without any problem. But towards end, they charged me $100 for 2 catheters which cost them approximately a buck or two each. At the beginning I thought it was for one or two whole boxes of (50 pieces) catheters, I questioned them and challenged them, they dodged my key question but admitted the $100 bucks were for 2 individual catheters. Wow!! They decided to overcharge me so much for a couple of catheters. I communicated with them through phone call and email but they never gave me a good explanation. It seemed that they were telling me “we don’t want to treat your dog any more”. The overcharge happened 2 or 3 times and I switched to a better vet. I put my dog down one and half months after that and regretted that I didn’t switch earlier.I’m getting a new pup soon. And I’ll never ever go back to them. No one should treat their clients or customers like that. As a vet if you want to suggest pet owners put their pet down, find a sensitive and subtle way of doing that. My guess is they just wanted to get rid of my dog and they did that by overcharging me. RIPPING OFF A CUSTOMER LIKE THAT IS JUST NOT ACCEPTABLE! The other vet I went to, in general they charged less than central. AND, they didn’t charge me on catheters. Honestly, did WE as human beings ever get charged on charterers when we went to hospital? No need to mention $50 each catheter - 2500% mark up!! How ridiculous!I gave them 2 stars because their docs and nurses were always super sweet to my dog. Otherwise I’d give them 1 or 0 star…
Love this hospital. I would highly recommend it. My Bella Mia is a bulldog and they are always cautious and care about her needs. They take very good care of my Bella, they are always very clear about whats going on, instructions are clear, follow-up phone calls are always made, and they are all just wonderful. Recently I had to take Bella to the emergency hospital on a Sunday night. The next morning I got a phone call from CAH to check on her.
They mostly run on time.Solid, clear communication.Convenient hours.Extremely forgiving cancellation policy.Competent doctors who answer questions patiently and expertly.Friendly, professional, caring, responsive, helpful support staff.I was lucky enough to find this practice during the pandemic, and I’ve made them my family practice.I have a dog and two cats and am thankful to have a practice I can trust with their care.
The Doctors are all very experienced and show an abundance of compassion for the pets and the owners. The technicians are well trained extremely professional and caring. The administrative staff are warm, friendly and will do everything they can to help you.I highly recommend Central Animal Hospital.
Such Amazing staff, Veterinarians and techs! My fur-baby had the best experience ever and was treated as the princess she is!!! Would totally recommend them to all Fur-parents and any Pet Parent!!! You wont regret it nor be disappointed! Her Vet was so knowledgeable, recommended so many great ideas, was super patient with Snow and momma, and you know theyre great when your fur-child come back happy! She felt looked and better the very next day!
What matters is the health of ALL our family members! Honey Bear the Teddy Bear Hamster feels much much better today—and Im feeling good about her treatment. But dont be late to your appointment—they will move on to next patient and fit you in sometime if possible. Its good business to do business where business is good and busy.
My cat needed help with painful teeth infection. I took her to the closest vet and she got basic treatment, antibiotic, vitamin and fluid injection but after that, no one gave me straight answers what we do next. I went to look for other places and I found the Central Animal Hospital in Scarsdale. Even over the phone you could feel that they really care. I called on Saturday and got appointment on Monday. The examination was thorough and Dr. Pagan found problems overlooked by the other vet. I got straight answers about treatment plan and price so there are no surprises. We have scheduled surgery and anxiously waiting for the outcome but I have confidence in professionalism of the technicians and doctors in this clinic. Highly recommendable.
We’ve been taking our two cats to Central Animal Hospital since we first adopted them. Since that time, we have had nothing but positive experiences there. Our cats had their spay/neuter at CAH, and we were very happy to receive multiple updates on their recovery from surgery when we had to leave them overnight. I know that when I call with questions regarding my pet’s health I will get a response quickly and fully. We’ve mostly been with Dr. Porelli, and she is wonderful. She has been such a pleasure to work with, and we truly trust her with my animal’s care.
I have been a licensed veterinary technologist for over eight years who has worked in anesthesia and emergency and critical care and am heartbroken over the loss of my family dog at the hands of Central Animal Hospital and greatly disturbed by how Dr. Gross spoke to my mother as she grieved the death of our dog, Rufus. My father called me on September 28th to let me know that he and my mother had picked up Rufus from Central Animal Hospital in extreme respiratory distress, after he boarded there for six days while we were on a family vacation. My parents had taken him immediately to the emergency vet and Rufus was likely going to be intubated. My father said when the kennel attendant handed Rufus to them, he was gasping for air, but no information about his condition was given to them. My mother had spoken to Dr. Gross earlier that morning who told her that Rufus was not eating well, had some nasal discharge, and had some diarrhea. My mother explained that Rufus, who has had chronic rhinitis since 2016, regularly has nasal discharge and that she had scheduled him an appointment with Cornell University Veterinary Specialists that following week to work on his rhinitis. Dr. Gross told her, ok and she would have the front desk forward his record to CUVS. At no point did she communicate to my mother that she believed he was in severe distress or that his condition was emergent. At VEG Rufus was intubated, and I spoke with the with doctor in charge of his care who let me know that when Rufus presented at VEG he was beyond distressed, about to fatigue (go into respiratory arrest) and how very grave his prognosis was and that he was going to require transfer to a specialty hospital for mechanical ventilation. As a family we elected to euthanize him. I facetimed him and told him what a very good boy he was, how much I loved him, thanked him for all the amazing cuddle and said goodbye. When my mother spoke with Dr. Gross she cruelly accused my mother of denying Rufus appropriate medical care by saying she had informed my mother that Rufus was in distress (she did not informed her of this), and told my mother that it was wrong of her to board Rufus at his age, implying that if he had not been boarded this would not have happened. She was unsympathetic during a time when she simply should have expressed sympathy from the loss of my family’s beloved companion. I am truly disgusted by how my mother was spoken to and horrified and heartbroken to know that my beloved family dog died gasping for air. I cannot more strongly caution people to stay away from this hospital. As a veterinary professional I feel personally and professionally betrayed by how both Rufus and my family was treated
Michelle is amazing! Great customer service all the time... Everyone is responsive and accommodating! My fur babies are in great hands at Central Animal Hospital. Love their patience and dedication. The visits arent rush.... Mia, Cici & Haley send their love. My husband & I are so glad they offer boarding as well. It a relief knowing theyre taken care of while were on vacation.
I came here 5 minutes before my appointment and was told someone will come shortly to pick up my dogs. 20 minutes later no one showed up. I called again and asked whats going on as two other cars pulled up and were taken care of. I was told a doctor is running behind but someone will come over in a few minutes. 15 minutes after my second call still no one came to get my dogs. Hate places like that.
We think that staff at CAH are very good at what they do and we truly appreciate their service and dedication. The only thing that was somewhat frustrating was the amount of time either being placed on hold on the telephone or waiting for someone to come out to our car for different things such as paperwork or taking in/bringing out our pet. It is certainly understood that these are unusual times we are living in with the pandemic and affects a lot of people/things but hopefully there is now a light at the end of the tunnel with this that will allow a less time-consuming process.
Very caring and considerate vet. Always willing to help out in an emergency. Super up to date on comprehensive treatments. They are a bit expensive, but I think its worth the price for such a great staff. They are aptly staffed with 3 people at the front desk and a number of vets to get you in and out faster. The care for my cat has been exceptional. I took her there for an emergency and the vet checked up on her a couple of days later after she was cleared to go home. They treat your pet as if that pet is a person. I wont go anywhere else.
We have brought our dogs to CAH over the past 15 years. We have always been pleased with the care each of them has received. The staff has always been just as caring as the doctors - I mean all the staff! The 7 days/week coverage has been important to us. Dogs dont just get sick on weekdays, and at CAH a vet who knows your dog, or has access to his records can be consulted on weekends if needed. That has been a great plus for me in the past with an old dog who needed extra care.We have a young dog now and we look forward to CAH helping us keep her healthy for many years.
I’m fairly new to this practice and have some concerns. My first puppy was there last fall and things went smoothly. With my new puppy, things seemed to have changed, prices have been increased. The first thing that I dislike is that they charge your credit card before they tell you how much the charges will be. I have explicitly asked twice that they call me before they run the card. If they can make you wait in the car for several minutes, they can take the time to call you and also give you a receipt onsite when they return your pet. Either they should provide a cost schedule for routine costs or they should let you know ahead of time. I don’t allow any place to have carte blanche with my credit card. It comes across as slightly dishonest. Also, the amount of shots required for puppies seems to have increased from last fall. I was told I needed to have an additional set of shots though my puppy had the first set before I picked him up from the breeder — I provided proof of vaccination. It seems they will charge you for everything they possibly can so you have to be careful. Most recently I received a letter in the mail with a baggie for a fecal test for my puppy. He’s had 2 fecal tests in 2 months! Why would he need a 3rd? There is nothing wrong with my puppy. This comes across as trolling for dollars. You can bet that everything they recommend for your puppy, that they try to get you to buy from them, has at least a 30% markup. Once He has his final set of puppy shots, I’m finished with them.
I have nothing but nice things to say about the staff at Central Animal Hospital. Every interaction I have with them is pleasant and they communicate effectively. I always feel confident leaving my dog’s care to them. Nothing fazes them and they do it all with a smile!
I brought Luna for a check up. Dr. Gross was sweet, enthusiastic and handled her wonderfully as did her staff. She also explained to me that they didn’t want to over vaccinate dogs and she was going to check her blood to make sure she was still immune before giving any more shots. I appreciate that this practice doesn’t try to siphon money from you while caring for your pet. They are a wonderful and fair vet practice. Thank you!!
If you are a cat owner do not, do not come to this place. Their prices are very expensive, and they do not care about your pet. It’s all about money money. I came on a Sunday for a final visit (since I already found another vet but the vet office was closed). They received my pet and Dr. Aura Truslow called me on my phone right away, and told me that my cat was very distressed and aggressive, and because my cat was very sick, the best was to put my pet down. I asked her if she read my pet medical history. My pet was coming to this place for the last almost six years, since she was a kitten, and Dr. Aura Truslow did not look to my cat medical history either. I have to tell Dr. Aura Truslow, who finally was reading my pet medical history that my cat has a condition, which I have it too (IBD). I talked to the doctor and I asked her do you think because I have the same condition, I’m also a bad patient, my family has to put me down too? Based on my personal impression I could say that Dr. Aura Truslow besides being a lazy vet, was also clueless. Very fast to make the decision to put my pet down without any real fact. She also refused to sedate my cat to clip her nails too, which I desperately needed in order to give my pet medicine without me getting hurt. Lazy, lazy vet. My cat gets very anxious when is her time to take her medicine and could scratch me badly (hello is a cat), and they knew that. While, I was on the phone with her and since I’m not allowed to be with my pet inside due to COVID-19 restrictions, I left the place to buy groceries. Sometimes, they take a long time, and I never had an issue. Well, the vet this time finished early. She clearly wanted an easy day, easy money, and had my pet outside in no time. Since I was not there, she accused me (on top of all her lack of knowledge and lack of professionalism) of abandoning my pet. Needless to say I had a big argument with Dr. Aura Truslow over the phone, came back to pick up my pet and to my surprise they had Michel (the front desk person coming to my car), and telling me that they did not want to do business with me any more. I told her happily that I agreed with her decision, since they no longer provided for care for my pet, and it was the best decision I ever made. Next day I brought my cat to a feline vet place and my cat is back to her normal self, eating, playing and gaining weight, in a matter of days and they did not charge me a ton of money. Thank you Central Animal Hospital, actually you did me and my pet a favor!! I do not know what I was thinking, giving this place tons of money for the last five years on needless procedures, medicines, and letting my pet get sick and sicker in this place. CAT OWNER I WARN YOU....DO NOT USE THIS PLACE IF YOU REALLY LOVE YOUR CAT.
As first time puppy owners , were werent sure what to do, or how to treat our lethargic little guy. Luckily, a friend referred us to Central Animal Hospital. Our Docotor and hospital assistance were kind, personable and very professional. Our Doctor was thorough with explaining symptoms and what these characteristics could mean. We are so thankful to the team for helping us navigate puppyhood.
Central Animal Hospital is one of the best vets Ive been to. They can always squeeze you in for an appointment, and all of their vets give your pet the utmost care and compassion. They provide the best treatment and you are always able to get a vet on the phone to discuss issues your pet is having. They are very responsive, and make time to call and check in on how your pet is doing. I would 100% recommend going to them.
We took our 5 1/2y/o Dutch rabbit here after a lump randomly appeared under his chin/neck. We took public transportation there, and had to call and wait on hold for several minutes while standing out in the cold just to ask them to please bring him inside, even if it wasnt his appointment time yet. Dr. Gross was very sweet, caring, and professional throughout. She called us and informed us what she wanted to do w/him and also gave us his options. I appreciate that. The only issue I had was the wait times on the phone. He was seen genrally quickly.
They are always busy but they are very accommodating. Whenever My dog doesn’t feel well, they definitely make time to visit with her. Even during the COVID-19 times the process has been efficient and caring. I would highly recommend them for medical, dental and Boarding.
I have 3 older dogs know, Thankfully A lovely Dr.Allen has helped maintain my Poodle Mix, my dog was really sick with diabetes, she put my dog on insulin, it was first a lower dose, then determined he needed a couple of more milligrams, so he is doing better, my other 2 dogs, were part of 3, a father a son, and a son. I was supposed to sell, my hubby opposed, as Puppy as he would be called would fall asleep on his stomach, so the rest is history...
My first visit to Central Animal Hospital was during COVID. They are very polite on the phone and the carside service was prompt. The vet was very friendly, professional, and seemed totally nonplussed by my cats behavior (shes is a monster at the vet). I give them 4 out of 5 only because I wasnt in the exam room to see how the visit went. Post COVID, Im sure Ill change it to 5 stars.
Arrived early and called in immediately, then a assistant showed up at my car and knocked but not looking for us. Waited an hour for service despite others being attended to around us that arrived far later. No attempt was made to have us see another Vet despite the simplicity of our appointment (updated vaccine). Poorly run and obviously not able to adapt if a specific Vet is running behind. Not recommended.
The best vet in the area. A large team here, and they’re all really smart, professional, and very compassionate. It’s not the most budget-friendly vet by a long shot, but I think this is an area where you get what you pay for. The large team of veterinarians means I can get an appointment almost anytime I like: early, late, and weekends too. My dog is not good with other dogs, so they make accommodations when I come in to avoid the waiting room and sneak through the back. Can’t recommend them enough.
I have been going to this vet office since I was a kid around 5 years old and I’m 34 now!!!I have seen Dr. Gross since the beginning, and I don’t like if someone else sees my pets, that’s how amazing she is. She is amazing, sweet, real, understanding, so nice, and there is no # of stars that can describe not only Dr. Gross but also Central Animal Hospital.
From the front desk to the doctor and back, we always have a perfect experience at Central Animal Hospital. We were so appreciative to call about a sick bunny on New Year’s Eve and be offered an appointment right away. Dr Gross is not just a excellent professional, but also has wonderful finesse in difficult situations. Gibby is a lucky bunny!
I was referred to this hospital by the Animal Welfare League. My female cat Journee was diagnosed with pyometra, an infection in the uterus which is considered serious and life threatening and must be treated quickly and aggressively. Journee had to have emergency surgery. I have never had a pet as an adult and was so scared and confused with what was going on with her. I spoke with Christina and Dr. Gina Porelli. Dr. Porelli explained thoroughly to me her diagnosis and what was needed to be done. Everything went well with Journees surgery and I will be bringing her home today. The Doctor contacted me after Journees surgery and patiently answered all of my questions and provided me with Journees post surgery care. Once she was at the Central Animal Hospital they put all my fears and confusion to rest. I am very pleased and cant wait to pick up my fur baby today. Great job Central Animal Hospital. I will definitely go here again and will refer them. With all the negative things that has been happening in the world today and with my family it was wonderful to have some good news and a good outcome. Thank you, thank you, thank you Central Animal Hospital and their entire staff.
Central Animal Hospital has been caring for our pets for the last 25 years. Dr. Woltz has been our primary care vet and he is just terrific!! However, we have seen a number of the other vets at the hospital from time to time. This practice is wonderful....the girls at the desk, the lab techs and the doctors are always kind, concerned and caring. They have cared for the health of our cat and two dogs through the years and we could not imagine bringing our animals anywhere else. We have complete trust in these dedicated and knowledgeable people.
We had heard about Central Animal from our friends who had taken their dogs there for years. When one of our cats was dying, we called there to ask if they would help us to ease her into the end of her life. We had never met them before, and yet, when we arrived everyone--from the people who work behind the reception desk, to the vet techs to the vet--were so very kind and supportive.Since then, weve brought our dog to them starting when she was a puppy, and they have always been skilled, caring, and available for questions. We never feel rushed when we go for an appointment. And we always feel that everyone who works there loves each and every animal--dog, cat, snake, rodent, whatever--who comes through the door.
My dog is a newer patient of Central Animal Hospital. I have not had a problem with anyone here. The vets Ive seen are great. The staff is great and friendly. The waiting room is large. I never had a problem parking in the lot. I have never had an overly long wait to be seen. They suspected what was wrong with my dog and were right. She is being treated for her illness and is doing well!
We love Dr. Gross-she is totally an animal lover and goes above and beyond for her patients. She is compassionate and always tries to get down to the bottom of what is going on with your pet. I wouldn’t trust my dog in anyone else’s hands. She really takes the time and doesn’t rush. Highly recommend her and this practice to all! Minimal wait time and appointments. All the girls who work at the front desk are amazing and always try to work with you and get you appointments and in to see the doctor as fast as they can. This place is like no other!
I have an elderly dog & the vet was extremely kind & loving. She treated Jesse on the ground rather than stressing him out & having him lifted onto the examination table. She was amazing & made him comfortable, with a soothing voice & gentle petting. I am beyond happy with the attention & advice I received from her. Another excellent visit😍
Love this place. Heard so many good things from friends, brought our new dog over and we are so happy. Very organized, super efficient and everyone is so friendly. Doctor was so nice, encouraged questions, took her time and made some honest recommendations. Highly recommended.
I had called this hospital, made a medical record, they put me on the incoming patient list, told me to come to them and I drove an hour to come to this hospital. All this, just so that they could tell me that there wasn’t an exotic animal doctor to give my rabbit the help he needs. This was very frustrating and disappointing, will never be coming here again or recommending! Don’t even want to be giving one star, deserves 0.
This is a lovely caring practice. The office is very well organized and is a lovely place to sit and wait. The desk people are very pleasant and helpful. The website is extremely well organized and easy to use. They send reminders which are useful. And most important the doctors are experienced and caring people. This is a neighborhood practice and I strongly recommend it. And they promised me that they would give me a cookie if I write a good review.
This is a great place to take your four-legged family members. They love it here. Dr. Siegelhamb take real quality care of my pets and will take however long he needs to get the job done. I dont feel rushed out of the place and feel confident he will get to the bottom of things when my pup is sick. He is a nice man
Ive been a patient here all my life (6 years now....middle age!) and Ive always been extremely well taken care of and feel loved by my favorite doctor, Cheryl Gross, even if she has to do something I might not love. All the other docs have also been very caring and nice. The office is very clean and efficient and the people at the front desk seem to like me alot, too! They always have treat there for me.....how cool is that? When I have a scheduled appointment I never have to wait very long, and even when I have to come in without an appointment I usually get to see the doctor pretty quickly. All in all, a great place, if you have to go see a doctor. Love, Cassie.
I started using Central Animal Hospital when I moved into the area in 2010 after having used the same vet for 20 years. I had an elderly dog and cat, and from the first time I visited they were always professional, caring, and friendly. When my dog was dying 2 years ago they were wonderful; knowledgeable, supportive, and most importantly, always working with me to help me decide what would be best for my dog. As soon as I adopt a new dog, I will certainly resume my relationship with this wonderful group.
Took my dog in to get his swollen foot looked at today and got to meet the lovely Dr. Blum. She examined him and loved on him as if he was her own dog. She spoke to me about all my options and we decided on a treatment plan. By far the best vet experience i have ever had with any pet. Couldnt ask for a more caring and knowledgeable Dr. I will never take my peta to anyone else!
In the 17 years we have had cairns, this is the third veterinarian we are with and the one we have been the longest. I have made sure to see each Doctor on the premises to make sure to get to know everyone and I have found each and everyone to be caring, knowledgeable and especially not pushing for the unnecessary tests. The receptionists are always cheerful and helpful, no matter what circumstance and when we lost our first dog, Piper, my first ever dog, I was devastated but found so much understanding and support with Central Animal Hospital that I keep going there with our new cairn, Basil. They have my full trust when it comes to taking good care of my four legged child.
The vets at this place do NOT KNOW how to handle or treat reptiles like turtles. I went there because I thought my turtle had a swollen foot. Turns out there was nothing wrong with him after I took him to a competent vet with experiences of treating turtles but the vet here made a huge gaping hole in my turtles foot without anaesthesia while having a party with his assistants. I know because I heard music and them talking about their stupid problems while working on my turtle. Do not come here unless you want to buy overpriced dog or cat food. Waste of time and money and the vet didnt know what he was doing or how to handle turtles.
I had been a client with CAH for many years and have nothing negative to say regarding the staff or the premises themselves. The desk staff is always friendly and courteous and the Vets are always so kind and professional. Up until my dogs last days, I have always been very satisfied with all their services and sympathies in the end.Their facility is also kept extremely clean, and never an odious scent in the waiting room.
I have been using Dr. Cheryl Gross for over 14 years and she is the most experienced, kindest, and knowledgeable person and veteranarian one could ever want for their precious pet. She has helped me through good and bad experiences with my pug and my boston terrier. I cannot recommend Central Animal Hospital and her enough. The staff is excellent and they have hired a new vet who is equally as wonderful and i feel just as comfortable with her in case Dr. Gross is away.
I was actually surprise to find a veterinary hospital that treats turtles, most veterinary hospitals only treat cats and dogs. My male turtle, Jay, was sick and refuse to eat so I search for a veterinary hospital that could treat him and found Central Animal Hospital. The staff was friendly, organized and they did a great job. Now Jay is happy and healthy again thanks to the treatment and medicine that was provided. If I ever need treatment for another turtle, Im definitely returning. :)
Ever since I started bringing my cats to Central Animal Hospital, I have been impressed with the caring and professionalism of everyone on the staff...from the receptionists to the handlers, and especially the doctors. Last week when I had to say a final goodbye to my eldest cat, we were both treated with kindness and a tremendous amount of empathy. You even sent me a condolence card...something no other veterinarian has ever done before. YOU ARE VERY SPECIAL PEOPLE!Thank you.
The staff at Central Animal Hospital only knew Teddy briefly. We brought him in for a digestive problem. Little did we know that we would lose him a short 2 months later to a serious illness. However, during the intervening time period, everyone at the center treated him with love and compassion. He was never afraid to go there. He would jump happily out of the car, wagging his tail, despite how badly he felt. I think he sensed how much they cared about him. There was nothing the folks there could do to save him, but when it came time and he was suffering, they eased his passage as best they could. An especial thank you to Dr. Lindsay Thorson, who was Teddys primary caregiver. Also thank you to Dr. Erin Keefe, who also saw him and helped him at the end. These doctors were professional and loving. The technicians who cared for him and the staff at the front desk who cared for us...everyone acted with only kindness and concern. If (or when) we get another puppy, we will be bringing him or her to Central Animal Hospital!
I had a 3.5 month old English Bulldog, and had to take the dog to Central Animal hospital due prolapsed nictitating membrane (cherry eye). Dog can go blind if untreated. I had no issues with my puppy and brought dog immediately to vet once I observed the cherry eyes on my puppy. At this vet office, the vet had the assistant grab my pup and they attempted to wash his face. The assistant then said she needed to go to the back without us. A few minutes passed and the assistant rushed back to inform us that the dog fainted, but was okay. Several more minutes passed and the assistant came back more concerned and has started to give the puppy oxygen. Then the office attempted to have me sign papers and waivers for for some treatment plan. I refused and was allowed to see my puppy in the back, my wife and I were distraught, the puppy of no more than a 15.5 pounds was shacking uncontrollably and vomiting blood! The dog needed to be on oxygen so we could not take him right away, when we were allowed to recover our puppy we rushed him to Ketonah Animal hospital, but it was too late, he passed while at the hospital. Later in the week, because of my confusion, depression and shock I requested to see a video of what transpired at Central Animal Hospital. Observed that the assistant put a restrictive mussel on my puppy and even when he fainted because he was having trouble breathing they did not remove the mussel. The first thing you do in EMT or life saving steps is to remove anything blocking someone’s airway! This Animal hospital is dangerous and irresponsible! Beware, do not take your pet there if you love them. They even had the audacity to try and bill us as soon as this happened, very unprofessional location. Save your pet and go elsewhere.
Professional staff very skilled and very caring. Telephone calls are returned by the vet techs pretty quickly. I also had an instance where my dog peed in the Waiting Room and they quickly cleaned it up and reassured me it happens all the time and eased my discomfort that it happened. The only area where i would suggest improvement is the front desk staff who often are so busy they barely acknowledge you are there and seem disinterested. Twice i had to get help from the Office Manager because i was waitng there for a very long time and the front desk was of no help. Surprisingly, they are very nice and helpful when you call so i was surprised that this didnt carry over in the actual office.I am however, very pleased at the care my dog gets at Central Animal Hospital and I wouldnt switch to another vet for any reason! The Vets and their assistants are excellent!
My dogs both love coming here. They always see Dr Porelli or Dr Spatny, but all of the doctors and vet techs are so kind and caring to all of the animals. The front desk staff is also very quick to assist with check-in, questions, payments, etc. I’ve been coming here for years and will continue to do so
We went in for a simple Rabies shot in order to get a dog license. They push all sorts of tests and services on you. Blood tests, ear cleaning, nail clipping, etc., etc. We could understand if the little Yorkie needed any of this but she just came from the groomer who did a very nice and thorough job.Very disappointed with this Veterinary group. We will be going elsewhere from now on.
I just came back from the CAH in Scarsdale and I was so impressed by the quality of care my dog received that I wanted to leave a review about my experience. Hes just 6 months old but I have already been to a few vets that did not leave a good impression. We came in without an appointment and even though they were at max capacity the receptionist whom was a young lady with tattoos and black hair (sorry for the vague description, I didnt get the name) was so accommodating and nice. After sitting for just a few minutes my brother and I decided to come back tomorrow. The receptionist insisted on having the dog looked over by a vet tech before we left. Since his behavior was a bit odd . The vet tech was so nice and imformative. I thought it was so nice that they took the time to check him before we left. We decided to stay as adviced. He was seen in less than 10 mins by Dr. Spatny who was so caring and gentle with our dog. She checked him throughly and was very informative through out the process. We will definitely be back. Prices were as expected, and for the care we got, totally worth it. Thank you so much!
I have been going to CAH for many years, from the ladies in reception to the vet techs to the vets themselves, everyone is always very polite and professional. From the time that we first met our pet rabbit past away 9 or so years ago (they didnt know us and were still so very compassionate) to when we adopted our dog Angel they have always tried to help in any way that they could. Our dog has been boarded there several times and they did not mind us calling to check up on her, and getting an appointment has never been a problem especially when there has been an emergency. You know that they care by the compassion in their voice, the concern on their face, or the fact that they call to check up on your pet and they will always answer your questions. When they have to refer you to a specialist, believe they only refer you to the best! (expensive but you get what you pay for). I thank them so very much and I have and always will recommend them to anyone with a pet.
Our wonderful dog had a long and difficult battle with a debilitating disease. Throughout, the staff at Central Animal Hospital was kind, supportive, and helpful. At the end on our dogs life, Doctor Hecht provided us with knowledge, perspective, and compassion that helped to help us make the best decisions we could for our dog.
The Vets and staff at Central Animal Hospital take excellent care of my bulldog puppy. We never usually have to wait long to be seen, you can always get an appointment, and everyone there is friendly and in good spirits. I was recommended to come here from another bulldog owner and I would recommend other pet owners as well. Its important to go to a vet that is familiar with the quirks of certain breed i.e English Bulldogs (little money pits) LOL
My vet at Central has always been Cheryl Gross. Dr. Gross is a caring and skilled vet and she always called with test results the day they get themIn my case, Rocky is a diabetic and has been for over 5 years. Cheryl always is supportive since Rocky can be a challenge. He has a tendency to eat things that I dont know taste like food - like a whole box of Heart Gard, but when I rushed him in they immediately reassured me that it was not particularly toxic and they got him to throw it up right away. The only criticism I have is that when you speak to other doctors at the practice when Cheryl is out, they dont always know the salient facts. I understand that its not always possible, but a pet owner in this situation has to have a good understanding of their pets problem. The ladies who run the phones and the desk are efficient, friendly and very caring also. The office runs very efficiently and there is usually only a small wait. Theyve been very good to Rocky and me.
We love Central Animal Hospital! After our 11 year old dog, Keeno, was hurt and we discovered that he needed TTA surgery, we came to Central Animal Hospital, even though we live about 1.5 hours north! After visiting another animal hospital, they had told us that we would need to wait almost two weeks for a consultation, not even surgery, and we didnt want to delay the process since our dog was already in pain and unable to walk! After researching and finding Central, we called them and they were able to see us within that same day, and fit Keeno in for surgery 1.5 days later! The whole process with them and has been seamless. Keeno is now on the road to recovery and we genuinely thank the amazing team - from the staff at the front desk and the remarkable vet tech, Cheryl, to Keenos incredible doctor, Dr. Aura Truslow. Everyone at Central showed both my husband and I, and more importantly, Keeno, a tremendous amount of care and love, and we will always be grateful for their hard work, reassurance, and wonderful, high-quality care. We love them and would recommend them to anyone looking for wonderful veterinary services! Thank you, to the entire staff!
Through the years, I have brought my pets to several different animal hospitals in Westchster. None ever treated me or my pets with such caring and kindness. This holds true for the reception staff, the doctors and the attendants who care for the animals. Thank you to all of you.
I have had 4 dogs now , several cats, and mutliple rescues. I have used Central Animal Hospital as my Vets for over 10 years. They have saved their lives, as they all came to me sick and diseased. All the staff at Central Animal Hospital have been nothing but kind, humane, empathetic, willing to listen and explain, understanding in hard times. There is only praise I can give to such wonderful people that care for those who have no voice. We as pet parents treat our pets, like our Children Its nice to know that this staff understands that and treats your pet the same. Even if it is a rescue off the street they have been nothing but the best. I love the Hours the days they are open and the staff always being available at a moments notice. With sick or injured pets this is very comforting to know you a a short while away from help for your loved companion. I see some negative comments here and have to disagree with you on all counts. Quality pet care has alot that needs to go into it. I once had the misfortune of going to a real con artist who should never touch another animal. My Beloved King had Diabetes, Seizures and Pancreatitis when I got him, before hearing about Dr Woltz and staff. This scammer gave my dog a magic shot, that would last over a week and slowly disperse to help him, I wanted to know what the magic shot was and looked at the bottle when he left the room, It was a 3 years expired bottle of Amoxicillin. Which was not going to help my Dogs situation. People who compalin here about these vets, will complain anywhere. Good health care is not a freebie. I do not trust my pets in house or street care to anyone else. End of Story. You have to live with your decision , I sleep well at night knowing my animals are well cared for and are never neglected when they are sick. You can hear a lot of horror stories from other vet visits and other so called clinic or hospitals, but get your animals the finest care available, they love you unconditionally. I wish I could rate them a 10
CAH is fantastic! We always feel welcome and well taken care of. The facility is clean, the staff is courteous and friendly. We have only had the opportunity to work with Dr. Gross who is an absolute joy. She truly loves what she does and takes excellent care of our chinchillas. It’s a privilege to write this review. We highly recommend CAH!
Ive been bringing all of my dogs here for the past 7 years and they have always provided the best care. The front desk staff are so friendly and efficient. Dr. Truslow is so caring and down to earth. I remember when my one dog Indie got really sick and had to be taken to the animal emergency center in Yonkers. They called CAH to have the records sent over. When Dr. Truslow saw that Indie had been sick, she called me right away concerned about how she was doing. She really cares. They all do here. Thats one of the main things any pet mom or dad looks for in the people caring for their animals. Im very happy I found this place :)1/3/2018Both of my dogs Winston and Indie have been patients of Dr. Truslow at Central Animal Hospital for eight years. My 13 1/2 year old French Bulldog Winston was diagnosed with right sided heart failure in early December 2017. Dr. Truslow and the whole team of veterinarians, vet techs and front desk staff at Central Animal Hospital are the most knowledgeable, kind and compassionate animal lovers you will ever find. This morning, my Winston passed away at home, quickly and peacefully. I called CAH in the morning, spoke to Gabby who was so understanding and brought him in. A vet tech lead me and my fiancé in and offered words of condolences. We received hugs from Michelle and kind words from Dr. Abramson. These people are top notch and I will continue to go there with my dog Indie and any future animals. They made a difficult time in my life a little bit easier and I am incredibly grateful. Thank you, CAH.
The staff at the hospital are incredibly friendly and attentive. Both vets, Dr. Hecht and Dr. Siegelheim are very gentle and thorough. I know my girls: Lola and Roxy are getting the best care. I appreciated Dr. Siegelheim for following up with the well-being of my doggies. It made us feel extra special. The vet techs and front desk have also made us feel welcomed. Thank you!
I was very pleased with everyone at Central Animal Hospital from the front desk, to the caring Technician and of course Dr. Hecht. Dr. Hecht was very thorough in her examination, answered all of my questions and very sweet with our kittens. I know I have found the right place for my cats.
Weve been going to central animal for years. when our cat tuxedo stopped eating, I was so impressed and grateful that the doctor called us every night to find out how he was doing and if he had started eating. we were thrilled when he finally did. I think the doctor was as thrilled!
The environment is accessible, very well located and accessible. The front desk girls are very kind, dedicated and attentive.Dr. Donatela Hetch is one at a kind. Very sensitive, sympathetic towards the animals tutors and professional. I am really pleased I have found this place.
Whether were going for Augies annual checkup or something more serious I know that hes in the best hands with Dr. Hosomi at Central Animal Hospital. Thank you for always taking such good care of him! Everyone at CAH, including the staff, are top knotch. Thank you all!
Went here for the first time for an 11am Saturday appointment. I filled out the paperwork then I sat, and sat and sat! I finally got up and walked out at 11:30am after never being acknowledged by any staff member.I couldnt believe the SAME DAY I started receiving emails from them telling me how nice it was to meet me and my pet! they used my personal information to email me and push product. I would never step foot in this place again!
It has been a number of years since I had lived in the New York area. When I did, I had trusted the care of my rabbit and guinea pig to the good folks of Central Animal Hospital. In fact, it was my guinea pig needing surgery for kidney stones that brought me to CAH. From the initial consult, to surgery and recovery my experience without a doubt A1.While my memory has faded of the names of the doctors and staff, my experience has not. I only wish that CAH was a lot closer to where I now live (Texas).
Highly Skilled Scam ArtistsAs a pet owner for over 20 years. I was fooled by the seemingly good bedside manor of these Vets. What to watch out for... pinching of gums to justify an $500.00 risky teeth cleaning. Most pets need anethesia...yet they wont guarantee that your pet will ok afterwards.. When I took the dog to another Vet, they didnt find anything wrong with his teeth. Also...Unnecessary $400.00 songrams.... my dog was dying, yet they pushed for a sonogram. They knew I was very upset, yet had no shame in attempting to add to the bill. Also be careful when they take your pet to another room .Sonograms done on pets with tumors are painful. Most diagnosis can be done with less painfull blood samples and x rays.Lastly... ask for estimate in writing BEFORE any procedure. To not do so is to hand them a blank check. I was highly overcharged. They are better choices for genuine and caring Vets.
I kept telling Dr Woltz for 2 years that something was the matter with my boy Jakes vision and he had pain on the left side of his head. Dr. Woltz would say he blinks, his vision is fine. Jake would never growl or be aggressive to a person, so not eliciting a reaction to touching his head I can understand. It turned out my best boy had a brain tumor behind his left eye.Monday I brought my Penny in because shes not been herself. Dr Woltz said shes older now, he waved his hand in front of her eyes and she blinked, she can see. I know Penny doesnt have a brain tumor, but it brought back the anger I felt when I was told by the Vet neurologist that Jake had a brain tumor. How I was pooh poohed about my concerns about his vision and temperament changes by Dr Woltz.t
I brought my little dog in with a tiny little wartlike skin tag...I was told its not dangerous but it should be removed. But first, bloodwork, and a possible ultrasound for internal organs. While were at it we should clean his teeth. ok...I got a second opinion. The doctor laughed. A tiny little tag...turned into a grand and a half. The goal here must be which doctor can rake in the most money. Honestly, Im disgusted.
Went here 3 days ago for the 1st time after many years going to Banfield which absolutely stinks. This place I got an appointment right away and saw Dr Hecht who was very caring and the office had alot of friendly people working there. They took tests on my Baxter and call me everyday to let me know test results Great place will definately use them for all my pet needs.

2022-02-16So far, so good. Had to bring my two indoor cats for shots and check ups. This is a new vet for us, the last vet sold us outdated medicine (yes, we couldve checked, but we bought it from the vet.) My cats have a parent who is feral, so theyre not exactly lap cats, so getting to the vet is a tough, anxiety raising slog. They both seem better afterwards than when we brought them to the old vet, so well see

2021-12-29We have come to Central Animal Hospital a few times and each time has always been a pleasure. We had friends that recommended Central Animal Hospital and it was a great choice. During Covid, the pet owners waited outside for their pets to be checked and as we were new, we spoke to several pet parents and they highly recommended it and said they received great services and the doctors and staff were very caring. Glad we made the choice to come here

2022-04-12Weve been patients here for over 10 years for both our cat and our dog, and have always found the vets and staff to be exceptional at their jobs. They are professional and thorough, and they truly do care for your pets just as much as you do! 10/10, would recommend (and often do to my friends)!

2022-01-02I recently brought my new puppy there, I love Dr. Gross, she was very thorough. The next day the puppy had to go in for A problem she was having, we saw Dr. Cohen, she seemed good too. Dr. Woltz called me with my puppies results over the holiday weekend which I was happy about. I think this veterinary practice has become very expensive, unfortunately, this may cause me to look elsewhere.

2022-03-28Staff was friendly. Was nice to finally meet staff in person as last 2 years I have been unable to. My only issue was wondering why my dog was removed to receive their vaccination. Even with that I will still continue bringing my pup there as I think Dr Pagan is awesome.

2021-12-20I called Central Animal Hospital and got put on hold for 20 minutes. I hung up and dialed again as I thought my call had been forgotten about, upon calling again I was asked if I could hold, I explained I had already been put on hold for 20 minutes. The receptionist rudely replied “We are trying our best!” and continued to click the hold button without even asking if this was an emergency. I stayed on hold for a whole again until the receptionist picked up and asked what I needed. I explained that I needed records for a pet sent to me. When looking up the pet, the receptionist told me that they had only been to this hospital once. I said that it was fine but I still needed the records, she continued to insist that they really had nothing from the one time this pet had been there. I said I still would like the records sent to me. She rudely said “fine, I will send them” without asking for an email address. So I asked her if she would like an email address that she could send the records to. Overall bad experience.

2022-06-29This animal hospital is extremely expensive and for absolutely no reason whatsoever!!! was recommended by someone to use this hospital and extremely disappointed with the vet, and the overall experience. To make matters worse my pet insurance reached out to them a few times and they were uncooperative to help me get reimbursed. I now switched vets and Im very happy to do so.I cant believe that the doctor wanted me to spend thousands of dollars on allergy tests but she didnt even need

2022-04-30My son brings his puppy, Lady Boba there for the first time. He is very pleased how the vet and staff interacted with Lady Boba.
