Ordered the sakura parfait and ichigo mochi here a few days ago. the sakura elements in the parfait were practically undetectable so I would skip if youre looking for something with a more distinct sakura flavor. hojicha ice cream was good but not worth the price tag.
Their service is really bad. i left my credit card there and called them. a lady picked up and i asked her if she saw a credit card and she said no and hung up as i was asking if she could look around. i went back and it turns out that it was there. it was bizarrely rude.also i got the mochi mochi. it was really average. the soft serve was half melted right when they gave it to me. the hojicha flavors were pretty muted and the mochi’s texture was a little too hard. very disappointed, i’d been wanting to go here for months.
Amazing Japanese dessert place.Their dessert has very strong matcha taste, and I like the matcha latte especially.Matcha latte with matcha softserve on top. Thats delicious!!I ask for their match tiramisu. They out too much power on top, whole dessert became bitter. So not recommend
The warabi mochi on the mochi mochi parfait reminded me of Kyoto. The mochi in all the desserts was soft, fresh and very QQ :). Especially with the travel bans, this place is a great substitute to travel to Japan in your mouth at least :).Only criticism I have is the Hojicha ice cream I ordered individually was a bit icey, which I think is from pre-scoping and freezing individually (refreezing does that). But I understand its necessary for service when its only one person running the whole place, so cant fault then for that since it still tasted really good.
Been here many times. Food is pretty good. Very pricey for the portion sizes. Service can be very slow and understaffed. Sometimes they mess up your order or take way too long for simple desserts such as the mochi daifuku. Ordering online is also a mess. I ordered for pick up on their website on a sunday during open hours, but they were actually closed. Still took my money and had to wait 4 days to call them and get a refund. Not the end of the world but annoying. I would give it 4/5 stars if the service improved. (Edit, service has somewhat improved. Love the dessert too much)
A bit pricey but well-made mochi and anmitsu. Traditional flavors are their strong point. I previously left a review concerning their high Postmates fee but it isn’t on them and like a lot of places, they’re having issues with the service. Storefront is cute so you may as well check it out in person.
Finest Japanese ingredients handcraft in a small shop.Everything is made fresh to order and I love it. The owner is so meticulous about the flavor that it comes out consistent each time.I recommend to come early and be prepared to wait in a line depending on the length of the line. It is a small shop and fits 2 people at most. It also looks like there are only two people who are running the shop which includes the person taking your order. So come prepared to wait in line and for the order to be made.We ordered the Sakura parfait and the Mochi Mochi hojicha soft serve. The Sakura parfait comes with the tea agar jelly ( the pinkish see through jelly), corn flakes underneath the hojicha soft serve, shiratama mochi (white shaped circles), warabi mochi, and Sakura cookie ( pink flower cookie). The experience eating the parfait was fun. You have the bitterness and subtle sweetness from the hojicha and the fun chewy textures from the jellies. All the flavors are subtle except for the soft serve itself. I grew up with these flavors as a kid and hojicha is green tea but has a different taste to green tea most folks are use to seeing.Hojicha is more nutty and sweet. This flavor might be for folks who have an acquired taste for tea. But I love this flavor and recommend to experience it.
Really sweet cafe. Wonderful traditional Japanese and Japanese spin on desserts. Staff was helpful with explaining what each dessert was. I ordered the Django. The crepe puff caught my eye for my next visit. This is literally a take out place. There is no seating or place/counter to linger
Decent stuff, but expect to pay a lot for not much. Got their deluxe hojicha. It was in a smallish cup that was mostly ice. What’s the point of putting red bean if you can’t even access it with all the large chunks of ice in the way? All in all, not worth it for the price.

2022-03-05The authentic Japanese tea and dessert shop, the outpost of Cha-An, so the food and drink is delicious. There is limited seating outside and it is not good for cold weather.

2021-07-22Me and my friends are fans of Matcha and Cha-An Bonbon is definitely a must-visit place for matcha dessert lovers. The decor is simple and cozy with authentic Japanese style. There is limited outdoor seating available currently. We had their Sakura Parfait and Anmitsu to share with a group of 4 people and the portion was perfect for an after meal dessert. Our favorite ingredients were the mochi and seasonal tea jelly, which were refreshing and delicious.

2022-04-04The anmitsu was good since it’s not too sweet, and it contains a variety of texture. The matcha mochi was chewy but too sweet. The matcha tiramisu lacked matcha flavor and only had the cream cheese taste.

2021-10-24Every dessert here is beautifully crafted and layered with complex flavors and different textures so that eating this is consistently a journey through different desserts. From soft and chewy, to cool and rich to crunchy and salty…It’s a nuanced experience that I would encourage everyone to try as it’s like nothing you’ve likely experienced before and honestly, if you take someone here, just the art of the dessert alone will leave them in awe.

2021-07-28Cha-An Bon Bon is soo good! I love their parfaits. I think they have one of the best tea flavored soft serve if not the best in NYC. The hojicha flavor is so good, super creamy, not too sweet, can really taste the tea flavor. The parfaits are reasonably priced for the amount of things which are in it, because most of the individual elements require other steps (i.e. fruit jelly, baking cookies, warabi mochi, glutinous rice balls, monaka wafer, custom soft serve). Very textural delight. One of my favorite dessert spots in NYC! FYI there isn’t much seating!

2021-11-27I got the Mochi Mochi for $7.75. The hojicha soft serve was pretty good. It had a mellow tea flavor that I wished was a bit stronger (although I usually prefer subtler flavors). The warabi and shiratama mochi were super soft and chewy, and I liked them a lot. However, I really didnt enjoy the jellies. The clear one on top with bits of strawberries was pretty but completely lacking in flavor. Its bland gelatin cube texture was offputting, and I don’t think it went well with the other components of the dessert. The jellies also seemed to be the most common ingredient in the cup. For this reason, I don’t think I would get it again. The store itself has only enough room to stand inside and place your order, but there is a cute outdoor seating area.

2021-09-23The ambience is amazing, like a traditional Japanese tea house with amazing desserts! I ordered the black sesame cream burle which was delicious and the iced green tea with yuzu which was a great refresher!

2021-10-14The parfait and ice cream were very good especially if you’re a fan of subtle sweetness. It was a bit pricey, but it’s understandable given the location and the care that they take to make the desserts aesthetically pleasing.

2022-04-01Got an iced matcha latte here. Was really good. Would give it 5 stars for experience but upon arrival after a long journey I was informed the black sesame ice cream isnt being offered anymore even though its on the menu.
