Charles B. Wang Community Health Center in other cities:
It’s used to be good and friendly, now they are pretty lousy, their reception have ZERO patience and a lot of good doctor has left. If you don’t care about hospitality and just want get things done right, they are still the better one in Flushing. But I would not tolerate the way they handle business, when you are the one who let them makes money.
Every time I go there for annual check up, the minimum wait time is 2 hours. The front desk ladies are not friendly at all, always showing their face to patients. Today I got phone call from their Flushing office, calling my former name that I have updated with them few years ago, asking me if I did the surgery they suggested to do last year since they DO NOT have any record. I told them that I did the surgery and when I tried to get some info of the surgery from the doctor 2 months ago (actually she is a nurse but patients see her as a doctor), she didnt give me any info but didnt tell me that they dont have it. I thought it was just the doctors bad attitude not giving me the info I want but now I know its not. They DO NOT even have the record and calls their patient to find it out. The worst thing was that the lady who called me hanged up my phone before our conversation was end. I wanted to suggest her to find the record using my former and new name but seems like she has no interest of it... Okay, no problem, you dont like me I can move to other doctor. I dont need a doctor who dont even know what the patient is talking about because she doesnt even know about what has happened before. THANK YOU!!
Its never a long wait. The staff are helpful. Especially Wendy, she honored my request to get my daughters school form a day early. She made every effort to have the form in time for my daughters sport tryout. Thank you very much to all the wonderful staff who push for the best, most efficient service for the children. And Im looking forward to her annual visit with Dr. S Hung.
Subpar medical knowledge. I had a massive wound that required stitches and the doctor just didnt suggest anything and left me to self-heal like a wild animal. Now I have a massive scar thats 4 inches long that could have been substantially minimized with proper medical advice. 2nd opinion was appalled at the treatment. Doctor didnt even prescribe NSAID for pain and inflammation just Tylenol/acetaminophen. Who cares if the doctors are nice if they cant get basic treatment of a wound correctly.
Dr. Kan has been negligent towards me as a patient whos been trying to get a refill in my prescription. I called the clinic on Friday to get his authorization for a refill but the staff told me hes been away to a hospital for a delivery and that hell be able to refill it once he gets back during the afternoon and latest, by the end of the day. Ive waited until Sunday to try to receive my refill but he hasnt yet done so. Ive been transferred from the OBGYN to internal medicine to be transferred to his personal phone but once Ive reached him, he deems my situation not an emergency and for me to call back tomorrow.Incredibly rude and unprofessional. He doesnt care about his obligations as a doctor and I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND him to other patients.EDIT: my case was resolved through an official complaint.
This is a large health center in the middle of a densely populated neighborhood, so you are just a number. Dont expect to get much personal attention... the doctors, nurses and staff always seem to be in a hurry or just going through the motions. Its ok for a basic yearly checkup if you are healthy, but I wouldnt go here if I had a medical issue that required serious attention.
I went as a new patient for an annual gyno check up. They take my insurance which is through the ACA, and as such not accepted by many doctors. I was sad about not getting to go see my regular doc, and took a long time making this appointment. The staff were all friendly and warm, from the check-in desk, to the person that took my medical history, to the midwife who did the exam, to the nurse that gave me a flu shot. Things moved quickly, and I was in and out in 70 minutes, including the time it took to fill out new patient intake forms. The intake asked all the right questions about my relationship heath, my birth control choices, and did I want extras (like and HIV test or flu shot). The midwife, who actually did the exam took plenty of time explaining things, and was quite approachable and gentle. Oh! I almost forgot. I had my 4 y-o with me, and nobody batted an eye at that, even when she knocked over a basket of something and it spilled out onto the floor. The few negatives are that the facility itself is a little worn, there was absolutely NO reading material in the waiting room, and nobody actually introduced themselves to me by name. These are not enough of a problem for me to down-rate it any further however. In the world of NYC medical appointments, you could do a lot worse than Charles B. Wang in Flushing.
The pediatrician department used to be good, but there are new medical assistant and pediatrician now. They are very cold heart. Not kid friendly. The new pediatrician (a guy)is not good at either English or Mandarin, very difficult to communicate, but he try to make you take the over treatment to make money. Will stay away from this place to keep my kid safe and healthy.New immigrant patients,be aware.
I was referred to this magnificent place by my physician Dr.Robert Y.Lin to find a primary care doctor. He gave me along with his referral an online sheet of Charles Wang locations and hours. On the same day, I went to the one located in Manhattan but they booked me with a nurse, not an internist. Therefore, I later on searched the Charles B Wang health center website and saw the list of staff and selected an internist in Queens by the name of Tao Wu. I spoke with him on the telephone to ascertain that he could deal with my blood disorder and he sounded reasonable. The staff are assiduous. The location is a wonderland -Chinatown Flushing is brimming with close at hand shops, stores, replete of things to do. The building is well-maintained and communal. The waiting room is decorous. The nurses before meeting with the doctor have checked my pulse, weight, and asked me brief health questions. The center has doctors from many wide specialties. At my first appointment,Dr.Wu Tao was mannerly, formal and he spent an hour or so in private, indefatigably answering and bringing forth health questions. In his computer he listed every vitamin I took and my significant health history issues.Dr.Wu kindly told me to step up the exam table and he did the head and neck exam, abdominal exam (I laid down and he checked my stomach for any irregularities),he did the neurological exam (foot kick,I held one of his fingers to test balance, etc)and he asked me if I wanted to complete the breast checkup exam with him and I replied yes,let us get over with it.He was chivalrous, as I was taking off all my garment, he pulled the sleeve back onmy shoulder saying, it was not necessary to take it all off.He respectfully observed both of my breasts to detect any problems. He patted my breasts to analyze if there were suspected issues.Hence, Dr.Wu referred me to take a diagnostic mammogram just to make sure the breast were benign and he referred me to ENT Dr.Chan for he detected an inflamed lymph node and ear wax. Dr.Wu led me through the corridor and handed a nurse the blood tests he requested for I to take. The nurse painlessly drew my blood (about seven vials of diverse testing)I did the urinalysis test at the centers restroom but the nurse provided me the stool test kit to finish at home. When I called Dr.Wus secretary he was occupied with a patient at that time but he returned my telephone call as soon as he finished attending the patient. He approved my short medication question and he discovered that my mammogram results were benign on his computer. On my second visit, Dr.Wu read to me my blood test results on his computer. He has a herculean task of attending all his patients that are waiting for him -there are some days that he has a large quantity of patients. Dr.Wu speaks clearly and is well-grounded in his ethical persona. On a different day,Dr.Wu and I conversed of what vitamins to stop taking in case of an overload -I like to circle in ink my areas of improvement or otherwise so I told Dr.Wu which I should cross out. He told me with a smile to call him if I have any questions and to make an appointment for several months from now to check up on my health. Dr.Wu is a swell doctor! I thank all the staff including Regina L for managing so well the excellent service!
Pediatrician Dr . Bennett cheekun chan is the worst doc I ever see in last 12 years , he is very rude , he is not interested to lesson my child’s problem , he came and told me he need to go he has only 15 min , he don’t have time , and the way he deliver those word to me that was very loud , I feel like he is doing some favor on me , looks like he don’t get paid for my visit, please don’t see this doc , it’s a wasting of time , hope this health center will give some good lessons, about how to treat patients.again he is the worst worst and worst , I have good experiences with internal medicine. Hope the management will understand that one bad monkey is good enough to destroy a nice garden that Mr. Wang build.
Dr Gu and the whole crew is just amazing, from the FOH to BOH. She takes actions right away and always follows up on whats going on.She will tell you what not to take if not necessary. She has always referred me to good doctors starting from my Whipple surgery to Angina. Nurses and interns moves so fast that you are in and out in no time. No wait time like other crazy hospitals !! You know what I mean, eh !! With yours Truly. P
Chan, Bennett Cheekun, M.D. This doctor was rude and disrespectful. He saw my baby for 5min maybe and as I was asking him question, he was opening the door to leave and told me to go ask my family doctor?! How unprofessional is that. Never in my life!!! I don’t know how he’s a pediatrician.
I just stopped by there. first of all, the receptionist is not kind and helpful at all. Second, why call Charles Wang Community Health Center, we know Wang is a rich guy from Computer Associates, did he invested anything for this center? Third, if he did, he didnt mean to get profit from this center, right? I thought this is a non-profit, but you know what it charged MORE than any other doctor;s office. I told them i dont have insurance, i need to see a doctor and get a prescription. they said they charge $80, but other docs charge only $50. Why so? USe Wangs name is misleading. This is NOT a community service center, NOT non-profit, Dont CHEAT
I love my pcp, Dr. Koky Sang who has always been a great examiner and on-the-ball about my health issues. Hes encouraging and even speaks Spanish as one of his first languages. Because of caring doctors like him, I love coming to this place for my medical needs, including GYN and Pediatrics for my daughter.
Special Thanks To Hellen Wang, Im her patient Yani Cong. She give us the best service like an family. She works very hard on this job. Theres alot of good doctors that makes me feel good. #1 doctor, special thanks again and also thanks to Florence Chan who helped us alot. As well as Wendy Pen the lady who picks up the phone. Their service is excellent. Charles B Wang Center makes me feel like an true family.
Been going here for years, at least 17years. I go for my OB/GYN here & doctor, it’s like a one stop shop & my experience was great. The wait time used to be a bit long but which doctor office isn’t. Also my kids come here for pediatric care & the service was great. Front desk ladies are nice & nurses were nice as well. Doctor takes time w/ my kids & answers my concerns.
Originally, I wanted to go to the Zhen Institute and ask the family doctor for a transfer order for Zhangs specialty, but when the doctor was not there, the Zhen Institute arranged for a female internal medicine doctor with the surname Wu. I want a transfer sheet. It happened that a nurse came in, and the doctor surnamed Wu said, This person cant read, cant speak English, and cant speak Chinese, who is it? His grandmothers, with a white cloth on her body, she really regarded herself as an angel in white.
My son went to Wang Jialian Pediatrics in an emergency today, and he couldnt make an appointment with Shen Jieying. A Taiwanese male doctor had a very bad attitude and was very unfriendly to my son. Scared my son, I must complain to this Taiwanese male doctor. Please dont be a doctor if its not nice, this is delaying my sons condition
Very unfriendly and lazy nurse(doctor). Wife went to Charles Wang for annual checkup today and they refused to take blood and urine samples. We will have to run second time doing tests at Quest Diagnostic. Nurse first told us that they cant do tests on their clinic. I then relied of course they cant test blood there, all clinics only take the samples and test them in lab. Nurse gave me another excuse that they have labor shortages. My observation was all nurses were chatting and laughing behind the counter no one seemed busy.If you plan to have checkup there, be ready to go again because of their laziness.Very unfriendly and lazy nurse (doctor). I don’t write review often but can’t help expressing my gratitude to Dr. TY Yeung who is my mom’s PCPHe treated my elderly mom with kindness patience and professionalismHe follows up on patients well and takes the time to call patients himself to explain treatment results clearly which is rare for Flushing medical practitioners. He exemplifies what a MD should do. We need more providers like Dr. Yeung in the Asian community !!! God bless him!Dr. Yang is a caring and professional doctorHe patiently and professionally follows up the patients medical progress in all aspects. The Chinese community needs more doctors who specialize in doctors like Dr. Yang. Thanks
The attitude of answering the phone is really terrible! I was very nice to ask her if she could make appointments to see the doctor. All kinds of unpleasantness. If you don’t like to go to work or answer the phone, then you go home. You are a clinic, and patients have such a bad attitude when calling appointments. I used to like the Wang Jialian clinic, no I know whats going on with the management now. I want to make an appointment with a doctor in the morning to make my stomach angry! Will never go again.
Personal advice, the doctor is famous, the following service staff should also be managed, rushing to the famous, the doctor has not seen him, he was sent back by the front desk, they hire you, you get the salary, you cant hurt the boss like this what. Sometimes some patients may be difficult, but you cant treat everyone with fierce and impatient cheeks because of this. Some are pregnant women. Please accumulate some virtue. Please also pay attention to the doctor.
In an emergency, you can get a doctor almost at any time. Thats why I chose here. I dont have to wait a few hours like someone elses home. . . The old doctor is too popular to meet. I found a new doctor, and although he was unsmiling and talkative, he ran away after a gust of wind. But the professional quality of the basic consultation has been achieved, and I can accept it.
You can cheat new immigrants, you can only see a simple cold and fever,I have seen obstetrics and gynecology for more than 2 years, and I have seen 3 doctors in a row, all of which are too bad to say, medical skills are not high, and they conceal the condition. I really regret going to this clinic! A star is not worth it!
A female receptionist named milly deng has a Cantonese accent. She has a terrible attitude when answering the phone. Do you think she is very awkward? She is impatient when she speaks. Its amazing! How unsatisfactory her life is. Just a front desk that answers the phone. She doesn’t know her position and can’t do her job well. I don’t know how much she has contributed to the hospital and she has the capital and attitude.
I changed my family doctor. The person who answered the phone had a bad attitude and said that I was advised to change to another place to see the doctor. If I change a place to make you so happy, yes, I will transfer all the people I know who see you here to other people. Go to the family doctor, I really don’t want to give a star
The attitude of the front desk is bad, I just want to breathe fragrant and wait for a long time. During the epidemic, there is no need for vaccination or medical examination, which is also very good. There are too many slots! ! If you want to experience the perfunctory and unprofessional attitude, its okay to find him! !
It’s super difficult to make an appointment. Some of the front desk has a good attitude, and some are very impatient. We don’t dare to say a few more questions, and it’s not clear to explain the problem. Now we don’t like this place more and more. We watched more than a dozen here. Years old

2022-06-21The doctors are fine. However, if you have forms to fill out or wanna get doctor notes for leave request, they always give you something not per your request. What they always say to patient is either they dont or they cant.

2022-06-21My doctor Chen just moved to this location. The building and her office is much bigger then old location. I cant speak for other clinic on that same building. But never had an issue seeing my doctor within 20 minutes from getting on location.

2022-07-16So disappointed with this health center. The staff seem to be untrained. When I try to call customer service they were really rude and hang up the phone. Worst customer service experience Ive had in a long time.

2021-11-02I have an autistic daughter whos been going to the same doctor for years. He has always been attentive, understanding, and is on top of my daughters care. I have nothing bad to say about the place. I think they are exceptionally well, in comparison to other places I dont think you can compare the same service as Charles B. Wang Community Health Center with other like facilities or private practices. There is no comparison.Theyre very orangized, prompt and will go a mile for a patient. Based on my experience and my overall assessment of this particular facility I highly recommend the doctors most specially Dr. Sang.

2021-10-21My children used to be in this clinic and they have always been very good. But recently the doctors and nurses inside have become more and more unfriendly to my children, especially the BENNET CHEN, which is so rude to my children, and the tone of answer to my questions is very unfriendly, we and him When communicating, I didn’t feel respect for each other. I feel that he doesnt like children and this job very much. I really feel incredible why he doesnt like this job so much and he still works here to make money. The nurse inside is becoming more and more careless, and I really feel very sad. We have to leave this clinic. I suggest that you don’t choose the doctor BENNET CHEN while in this clinic.

2021-06-19I called to make an appointment for a medical examination. After providing the date of birth, I spelled my name three times, but the front desk operator couldnt find the information, and then asked me to wait online for two minutes. After I got through, I suddenly had a call to answer and asked her to wait a while. She even lost her temper and said that I had to prepare to make the call. Their time is time, isn’t the customer’s time precious? I havent encountered such a bad clinic, and their attitude is too bad. I never go to their clinic anymore.

2021-06-16Took more than 10 days to fill out a medical form that is needed for employment. They dont care that you need it. After multiple calls the assistant says the normal process is 5-10days. And finally after 10 days I called, still not filled out. Now after 10 days, they will chase the doctor. What kind of customer service is that? Couple of check boxes on the form and a signature...and they dont want to bother the doctor...sounds like the doctor there is supreme and cant be bothered.

2019-10-10Staff and Doctors are great. We have had 3 very healthy children with the Doctors there. While you may not get the uber personal service of a traditional small office pediatrician. Considering the volume of patients and the ease of getting appointments and walk-ins, its very good.Be aware that the clinic has a vast majority of Chinese patients. Many of which are either first generation or are bringing a new comer parent with them to the clinic, which may be a little odd for some folks. The staff has to deal with this all day so factoring that in, I have no complaints.
