Great place to sit by the water and enjoy the outdoor bar. Usually places like this dont need to have great food because of the location. Well, get ready to order the tacos and have your mind blown away. Also, they have High Noons and margaritas so its a win win for everyone =D
I am going to start out by saying I am handicapped ~ which I don’t like telling people because I try not to show it! I parked in handicap, and this was first time stopping in, walked to back bar(from side) ordered a glass of wine & asked for a menu. Bartender told me you can look at it, but needed to sit in designated section to order. Did so, no one took my order, waitress passed me, and this wasn’t very busy 1 table outside being served, I said excuse me! Nothing! Then I have another waitress go flying bye, Not again, excuse me can I order?? Oh, she said, I will tell the hostess! Hostess comes out, and shows me sign on table that says ~Hostess order ~ I said, 1st time here, I talked to you’re bartender, he told me what to do, did he leave something out? Bar only had one couple sitting. Then I explained how I came in, she was with attitude the whole time, and said, that’s not Our front door! That’s when I told her, where I parked, that I am handicapped and I can’t walk a lot of extra steps due to my Muscle condition! So, I would not have been going to get her, I really think they need better communication in their outside so patrons can sit or close off section you don’t want them using if it confuses the process. I ordered, never receiving napkins! When I caught a waitress going by~ she took a box that held brown squares in it! I thought you have got to be kidding! Then food came out, looked delicious, steak knife on plate, no silverware ? So, I asked my real waitress that was her table, who brought out plate, can I please get a fork! She, looked and actually brought me a real white napkin~ that’s what I was looking for!!! And utensils! So, the rest of my experience was great! Food was really delicious and the Fries where perfect! I usually put salt on everything ~ not this time 👏 Music 🎶 was great, playing Classic rock, and it was a beautiful day by the water❣️ A little pricey, but well worth it!!!
Attended a private event upstairs and had a truly wonderful time. The service was top notch from the bartender who assisted us as we entered to the bartender and waitress upstairs. The decor is very nice, clean, and stylish. The music was perfect for our crowd. Drink selection was excellent and they had great NA beer to offer. Best of all the food was phenomenal! Their shrimp was so tender, it was axingCrab cakes and caprese salad kabobs were super yummy. Excellent experience.
Good food and good service made a pleasant evening. Shrimp Po boy was delicious. Shrimp was lightly battered and fresh. Steak tip sandwich was tender and flavorful too. We chose to sit inside at the open window to have nice view of the water and marina without the strong sun on us. These tables had regular chairs, while outdoor there was a mix of high top tables and bar seating with stools or picnic tables with split benches for seating.Prices are accurate on posted menu .This is a great casual waterfront place to sip some cocktails of enjoy a meal.
Had lunch today at an outside table. I had the Shrimp Po Boy. It was so generous and so delicious. Fries were expertly cooked. My companions were also please with the Steak sandwich and the chicken fingers. Our server was excellent. He was attentive but not in our face. I would eat there anytime!
Bar had a lot of choices and attentive staff. Dining area was quaint. Live band playing was good, loud but you could still have conversation. Appetizers were very good! Wings, crab cakes and spinach artichoke dip were wonderful. Food was excellent and portions were generous. Prices were in line with the quality and portions.2 minor complaints-they toasted the rolls for my sons hotdog and hamburger and they didnt like it. I couldnt fight the kids, I dont know many who do like their rolls toasted. Wait staff should be trained to ask especially for children.-the restaurant doesnt have air conditioning and it can get hot in there! Breeze off the lake usually keeps it cool but some nights can be sticky!
Food there was awesome! I was craving some crab cakes for the last couple of days, and this place definitely did not didnt disappoint!! Had a beautiful view on the back deck. And our waitress Tara was amazing she was so kind! Place was very busy, and she was able to keep her cool! From your hostess to Tara the staff was all smiles. Well definitely be back again! And hopefully Tara can help us again!
Stopped there today, Thursday August 25th,2021, for lunch with my girlfriend and we started at the outside patio bar. Didnt get the bartenders name but he was a really cool guy. Then we sat at one of the umbrella tables and had Emma for a waitress and she was Absolutely Awesome! Actually the entire staff was Superb! The hostess, the bus boys, the other waitress that brought our food out... cant say enough good things about them. Well DEFINITELY be back and looking forward to trying other menu items. The stuffed pepper meatball was on point, the steak sandwich was super tender and the chicken sandwich with the red peppers was excellent! Keep Up The Great Work!!!!Erik B.
Awesome place, with great food. They have one of the best outdoor seating areas in the entire city with a great view of the harbor. I miss their Jerk Chicken sandwich with Mango Salsa. However, you cannot go wrong with the Steak, Pulled Pork or Grilled Chicken Sandwich.
Amazing service with Tara. She was so friendly and fast on giving us our order. I believe we waited 10 minutes after ordering, even with a full house. Food was also very good. To start off we had an New English clam chowder soup. Then we had in order of crab cakes and an order of coconut shrimp with fries. Soooo good.
We went there bc my old boss loves it and since it has been renovated I figured it had to be even better than before. Nope. The restaurant was sparse; maybe two pictures on the walls of the dining room. There were house flies and deism flies everywhere. Like really everywhere. We were swatting them out of our faces the whole meal. The veggie burger was a frozen patty with a frozen taste on a huge bun. No flavor. My son’s beef on weck was so rare he refused to eat it. It was just blah there. Best part was the sunset out the window. The prices were pretty standard of the food was good but since it was horrible I had some sticker shock. We won’t be going back.
Patio was nice, sat outside on a beautiful day. After ordering the manager told me that my dog (who was sitting quietly under the table) was not allowed on the patio which created a predicament for me as I had just ordered. Food was somewhat expensive and just okay. Cant say Id look forward to going back.
Charlies Boat yard was simply amazing! The atmosphere was great, sitting right at a table by the water, waiting for our lunch table to be ready was just so relaxing! Once we got our table, we ordered appetizers and let me tell you..... AMMMAZING! Our waitress Emma was outstanding!! We will definitely be back!! ❤❤🧡🧡
My wife ordered a burger that did not have much flavor. I ordered the cajun chicken sandwich which did not have much cajun kick to it. Shoutout to Shannon the server, she was super kind and helpful. Overall still a good experience and would like to just try other menu items next visit.
Had a bad review 3 years ago only gave 2 stars. Now 5 STARS. 4 of us attended on a Tuesday night (Busy but not overwhelming, lots of room to move around) 3 beer battered fish fry, all awesome. Chicken fingers 6 gigantic ones. Crabs cakes delicious, Coconut shrimp was great.
Been here twice before and it was good but the food quality has become insanely poor. There were three of us and all the food was terrible. Was told 30-40 minutes and waited well over an hour.. close to an hour and a half. Pray your too drunk to care what it tastes like. Calamari was sooo over cooked it didn’t have any squid left it it. We paid $16 for fried batter. Hot peppers were a disappointment. Shrimp scampi had severely over cooked noodles and no flavor. Tuna steak salad was a piece of tuna steak with a handful of lettuce. Battered fish was a frozen fish fillet with nasty crinkle cut fries. Was told it came with cole slaw as Mac but never got the slaw. I choked it down because I was starving. We were all so disgusted with our meal and talked about it for hours. For $50 a piece ($120 plus tip) I was expecting something I somewhat enjoyed. Will never eat here again.
The Food was Very Good, The Hostess was Very Nice, & Patient with someone who was giving her a Hard Time. However the Service wasnt up to Par, went on a Thursday, the Male Server took our Order with an attitude, wasnt happy that he had to come back a second time to take our Order. Once he brought us our food, he never came back to check on us. Plus my daughter found the Plastic remains of the top of a bottle of some kind, when my daughter mentioned it to him, he said yes its ours but theres nothing I can do about it! Really??? We should have walked out without paying, but we did the Proper thing & just paid for our food & left! Wont be coming back!
We did not eat here. My wife, puppy, and i started our walk from here. Came back and had a great brown bagged lunch from last nights dinner. We eat at one of the tables set up along dock area. It was great to be near the boat docks and see all the 4th of July traffic. Summer near the water, who wouldnt love this in buffalo.
Excellent fish fry! Had the beer battered fish fry and it was a generous portion with great cole slaw and crispy french fries! This was a true buffalo fish fry as it came with a slice of rye bread! My fiancé had the lemon pepper broiled fish and it was just the right amount of flavoring! First time in there since it was remodeled and looks great! The staff was very friendly and attentive! Will definitely go back!
Beautiful afternoon for lunch. Outside seating, which we got, but its first come first served or inside eating, with tables disranced appropriately. The atmosphere was great, the food was delicious. Best seared tuna with the salad was amazing it had such a great taste definitely would recommend it. The sweet potato fries with the butter dipping sauce awesome! The calamari was also delicious fried very well very well seasoned tasty this will definitely be a spot to return to.
The vibe here was very yt, and I got a lot of stares (wore a BLACK women glow different shirt). I was well received and seated on the deck. I had a tastey mojito, but did not taste the alcohol at all. I ordered the green salad with tuna, asked for a medium cook and it still came rare. It was mostly good, but not my favorite. Reasonable pricing. My waitress was friendly.
Way over priced, the food was not that good at all. The hostess had an attitude. The waitress was terrible, the first time ever my daughter didnt tip someone. She worked in the restaurant business, so she always tips good. She wasnt half way through her meal and they were trying to rush us out. They do state on their menu that you have 75 minutes to eat and get out, but we were about 20 minutes into our meal. There was other people sitting there before we came in and I didnt see their waitress rushing them. Even though she(Danielle) was wearing a mash, we could see the attitude and snobiness in her eyes and hear it in her voice. Not that clean either. They just walked by stuff laying on the floor. On a positive note, they have an out door patio with a nice view. Wouldnt recommend this place to eat though. They do have a bar if you like to drink alcohol.
While the restaurant is fresh and modern with a nice outdoor patio with a great view the lobster roll was a huge disappointment. They used imitation lobster meat. I even asked the waitress and she had to ask the kitchen. They lied and said it was real lobster meat. I am not stupid or inexperienced in culinary arts and fine dining. This was not a fresh lobster roll. It had that flakey imitation crab meat texture and block pieces in it. No real lobster claw meat at all. A huge rip-off. Dont get it. You will be sorry.Otherwise the sweet potato fries were very good. We will go back. But not ever getting the fake lobster roll again.
This place has lost its recommendation from me this season. I went with a party of 5 on a Tuesday PM,I ordered the beer battered fish fry and their featured drink the wave, first the drink was not mixed, alcohol I had to stir it to mix the alcohol from the top to through the drink, next the so called beer battered fish was a reconstituted frozen piece of some type of fish the French fries were so hard and dark brown however the teaspoon of Cole slaw and mac salad were good,in fairness the waitress did offer to replace the meal however I was with 4 other people and that would have held them up I. Then to add insult to bad taste waitress wanted us hurry and leave something about a 75 minute policy and people waiting however there were 3 empty tables near us and empty bar stools inspite of this being the intelligent people we are we still tipped 20%, but we will never again visit this restaurant EVER
Only a recorded message when I tried to call and order takeout in advance. Was going there specifically to order lobster rolls. According to their website, they were on the menu. I arrived and they said they only carry them every other season. ???So I ordered half a dozen other things on the menu. Bill came to nearly $100, and one of my items was missing! Of course I wasnt able to let them know because they only have a recorded message on their phone!COMPLETE rip-off. Would NEVER patronize them again. What restaurant doesnt answer their phone? They werent even busy when I arrived, well before the dinner rush.Food was sub-par.
Awful experience this afternoon. Instead of 15 min wait, it was 30 min. From the time we sat down, food took an hour. Other tables similar size were getting food and leaving before ours even arrived. And the food was terrible, French fries tasted like fish, tuna salad was small. Too bad with a location like that.
Charlies was extremely disappointing. The hostess and the servers had a very smug demeanor. Im not a 100% sure what they were doing to the food but a fish fry and a well done burger were out in less than 10 minutes. Which normally would be a great amount of time but as a previous cook I know neither of these things are done in 10 minutes. The food was nothing special, very bland. And what really bugged me to top it all off we were there maybe 30 minutes, I had more than half my food on my plate and my server had the nerve to ask me if I was done picking. Also my daughters fish was more batter than fish. I would not recommend this place to anyone, if I could give it less than one star I most certainly would. Also if your looking for diversity among the staff or the patrons for that manner you will not find it at this place. Dont waste your money or time.
Came on 10/23 for dinner for 5. We waited over an hour and a half to get our food. Seated @ 5:45 meals @ 7:30. Food was cold & my medium burger was burnt to a crisp. Tried to contact management with no response. Sad thing is we have eaten here regularly all summer long & no response from management on this bad experience.
Charlies is great and Jessica , the bartender, is awesome! I had to order food to take out, waiting on responses from family. She understood and got it . Beautiful day, Charlies food is very good and the folks there are great. So glad they have been able to survive in this crazy alternative reality!!
Was there last evening for dinner. Took over 2.0 hours to get a table. Waited on the patio at the bar, had to order food, expensive appetizers...one medium basket (sweet potatoes fries) for 20.00 plus tip. Had to eat with hands. Covid 19 anyone?..filled up on that. Table next to ours came over to us and told us they had to wait over two hours also. It was not that busy. Apparently the hostess skipped a page on the reservation list. It was dark by the time we got to our table. Just way too long to wait to eat. 6:00 arrival, seated at 8:15. Lobster salad was excellent, large portion. His fish sandwich was average. We both took the majority home.
We always have the best time here and the best food. Waterfront view cant get any better than that. On weekends there will be a bit of a wait. At least 30 mins to an hr. Thats because the food is great and you can have a cold beer or cocktails. Today I had the Cesar salad with Salmon, hubby had the sweet potatoe fries with a big juicy burger, and my other guest had the steak amd and cheese with fries.
With such a nice location on the Small Boat Harbor, I hoped that Charlies wouldve been better than a neighborhood bar. While the patio is great, the inside of the restaurant is cramped and not air conditioned. It can be quite uncomfortable if the breeze is especially strong, or if there is none at all. The menu is extremely bland and limited, and some options are overpriced. The food took awhile to come out, and was not really worth the wait. The portions were small, and the quality was less than what could be done at home. None of the food we ordered tasted bad, but it wouldnt be worth it to have again. It was just unremarkable, which I dont want when going out. However, I cant be critical about the patio. It would certainly be worth returning for a drink and enjoying the view, if nothing else.
We came here for dinner when they first opened. We had one of the worst experiences at a restaurant in Buffalo. We decided to meet family and friends for dinner and give Charlie’s Boat Yard another shot. What a 180 degree turn around!! Great food, slow to seat but they were extremely busy being a Saturday. Once our order was taken, apps came extremely fast and same for our entrees. My wife had the Pasta Keith, DELICIOUS!, I had the Philly Steak and Cheese. What a surprise! Great flavor and perfect portion size!! Others at our table had the fish fry and it was an enormous piece of fish! My only advice would be to watch the condiments better as our table was out of ketchup and salt and don’t allow waitresses to chew and snap gum while serving tables.
Love the place , but the bartenders need to make you feel welcome. Did not feel that way today. Felt like they couldnt be bothered. Place wasnt busy and thought there could be a little more interaction. But they are more concerned with socializing the other employees.
Nice place. Very crowded considering there is supposed to be some kind of NYS social distancing guidelines. Just got ice cream and sat near the water away from the crowd. Its very nice but Dougs Dive had a certain charm I havent quite seen as many times as Ive been here. But still an OK place to be...
Great view of the boat harbor. Wait staff was friendly. The food was delicious but the sizes were a bit small. I was surprised no salad or bread given with Dinner entrees. View was wonderful. Scallops with crab meat special was delicious just perso nally not enough portions for the cost.
Went on opening night of the new boating season and the new expanded restaurant. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. Nice menu. The food arrived timely. My friends said the fish was great . I had the shrimp po boy which I thought was very good. A nice dining treat.
Last Friday, three of us went to lunch at around one pm. The wait was about a half and hour, the waitress at the bar was friendly and efficient. They got us and took us to our table. Waitress was very competent, food excellent. Well today ten of us went at a little after one, had to wait over 45 minutes for two tables to be pushed together. I had to sit at an angle at the corner. It was brutally hot inside, no air circulation. Loud noise. They place should install ceiling fans. And the lobster rolls were dry and bland, rolls should have been toasted the food today was not very good. The waitress was wonderful though. It will be quite awhile before I return.....
The food is very good, but a little bit overpriced. Service was just okay. The wait staff was good but it took us an hour to get seated. It was busy, but there were empty tables. It was as if they didnt know that they could put them together to seat our party of 10. Of course you cant beat being on the water on a summer day!
Great place to have dinner, lunch or just a few drinks here. Many choices for good food, including BAR finger foods. Very nice outdoor deck with a terrific view of the boats in the marina and a pretty view of a lake Erie sunset on nice evenings. There is also a new upstairs area for more room to socialize. If you have a boat in the marina, delivery to your dock is available. All in all, a really nice place.
Stopped in on Friday, June 15th. I ordered the fish sandwich but wasn’t expecting anything as tasty and light as this fish was. Served on a nice fresh roll with a side of coleslaw and french fries which were cooked to perfection. Waitress was friendly and efficient. We will definitely be back soon!
The waitress was very friendly and took our drink and food order promptly. From there on our lunch was a disaster. We waited 45 minutes for our lunch and my burger was significantly over cooked. The waitress gladly said shed bring me another and soon returned with another overcooked burger. The manager was very apologetic and rightly told us we wouldnt be charged for the burger. It appears this place has far too many tables for the capacity of the kitchen.
I had really fun my dad took me and we had a really good time. Waiter was super nice the food was cooked just right I dont like calamari but I loved it here. A lot of people say its not good but I strongly disagree. This is my favorite place I have been in a while this place is very good.
We stopped into Charlies Boat Yard on a Sunday. The place was very busy and seemed understaffed. We ordered a few things including Burgers, muscles, clams, a couple salads and the BBQ pork poboy. The two salads were were good and nothing to complain about but thats were it all went down hill. The BBQ pork came out cold as well as the sweet potato fries were not cooked and raw on the inside. They ended up being out of clams so we decided to double the muscle order. The muscles came out with half to three quarters closed and unable the eat. The manager took them off the bill but after the lack luster first time we will not be back. If the food was half the price it would be more understanding. However at the prices charged for a good dinning experience I would go anywhere else.
They continue to offer a fun and friendly lake erie harbor experience...even in current challenges. Fun and spacious bar, great share and small bite options, nice quality ice cream hut and variety of flavors and products. Plenty of parking and really friendly staff. A must stop when cruising south buffalo waterfront.
Theyre doing a good job with social distancing, and everyone seems to be behaving themselves as far as wearing masks and being sensitive to peoples space.Plus the menu is great, and it was a gorgeous sunset. You cant beat it on August Friday night!!!Before we went Charlies, we did a drive-by of Hoaks and Rodneys on Route 5, and we left each immediately, both establishments looked dangerous: many not wearing masks, everybody crammed in...like there wasnt a Pandemic!
Service was great, food was alright. They do not accept reservations. We had party of 18 and told us to come early so we got there at 11:30 am. They couldnt seat us outdoors and that was one of the reasons we came back this year. Instead were seated indoors up near the main entrance. At separate tables that we had to push together ourselves and a variety of high and low top tables.Guess we will be looking for a new place next year that can accommodate us.
This was my first time here and it was for a work function luncheon. The atmosphere was nice and the food was great! We had crab cakes, lobster dantes, a cheese and cracker tray and a veggie for appetizers, then lunch was pasta, warm rolled roast beef, warm rolled turkey, potatoes, and a salad. Dessert was this really good brownie. I will definitely be going back.
Great spot! Sat here on a Sunday afternoon watching the boats come in and out. Beautiful outdoor deck, had a live band playing the day we went. Nice beer selection. Calamari is one of those apps that is usually not worth the order, but here it was fantastic, best fried I have had in a long time. The seafood hot pepper dip was equally awesome.
Theyve done a great job remodeling the place. Lots of room on the patio and today was great because of the cool breeze coming off the lake. A couple of mojitos along with the calamari and a shrimp poboy. Yum! Food is very good and the atmosphere is better. I go at least a few times every summer and its only getting better!
If I could give them no stars I would. Quality was horrible!! Nothing had flavor at all! All of us were disappointed with our meals. I ordered a chicken sandwich. The meat was thin, no sauce or anything on it. When I asked for mayo they gave me one packet of it. $18.95 for broiled cod! No seasoning was on it, the vegetables or the rice. Tartar sauce couldn’t even save it! Didn’t even come with a side salad for that price. Someone else tried one of their specials. the vodka sauce chicken tortellini. There were about 7 little tortellinis in Ragu sauce. Wow! We let the waitress know that we were disappointed and they still tried to charge us full price. We came hungry and left hungry! We will never come here again. Strongly do no recommend at all!
We used to love this place when it was Dougs Dive. The current menu is not very extensive, however if youre looking for a. Burger or lobster roll, this place has pretty decent ones. Appetizer (onion rings) came quickly, but food was slow. Server was attentive and Place is comfortable. All outside seating is in the sun, so we opted for indoors. An ok place, not in a hurry to return.
NEEDS BETTER MANAGEMENT!There doesnt seem to be enough waiters for the crowd and area needing to be covered. We waited about 25 minutes or more before we had our drink orders in. We got iced tea and water. That took another long while to come. My order-chef salad with grilled chicken-came without the chicken. When I finally got the chicken it was undercooked. Kinda disappointing for such a lovely venue.
Stopped in on mother’s Day 2018, we ordered the fish sandwich, It was so over cooked it looked almost burnt, and very greasy. I ate 1/3 of the fish and got sick to my stomach. When the waitress asked what was wrong I told her . She said she was sorry. When my partner went to pay the bill she told them what had happened and their answer was sorry. Then they charged for both meals. It is obvious that customer service or satisfaction is not high on their priority list. Needless to say we will tell all our friends and not come back.Very Very disappointing.
Food was good .. But we ordered clams and they werent chucked and for the price of them they sure should be. Also I asked for sweet potatoe fries and the waitress messed up and gave me reg. fries and they werent busy that she should have remembered. My brother had a steak sandwich and there wasnt much meat and there was also a bone in it . So I dont think I will go back again for the price... Dont mind spending money if its everything is good .
The owner/manager was so completely rude to us after we spent over $200.00 on food and drinks that I can hardly believe it. This guy really shouldn’t be in the hospitality industry. Just blown away by the poor manner in which he addressed us moving to the bar so other patrons could use the table for dining. Oh and by the way... the new guests never ordered any food 😡
Fantastic! Food is very good, service even better, sean our server was excellent! Did such a nice job! Atmosphere is wonderful could pay double anywhere for no where near the quality. This was our third trip there and its gotten better each time! Not sure about other reviews maybe try it again and hopefully youll get how great this spot is!
Place was super busy, not surprisingly though as it was a nice night on the water. The worst part was the band. The music was so loud, everyone at our table was struggling to hear the person next to them. The food was pretty good though, and the drinks were tasty. It was a good stop since we could drive our boat right into a slip.
Order 1Lobster roll- no roll, was served over a salad. On menu it says served with fries....no fries had to ask for them on the side.Order 2Bacon Blu Burger- IT CAME WITH A PACKET OF BLU CHEESE TO PUT ON THE BURGER..... enough said.Had a limited menu due to COVID. If you’re having a limited menu, shouldn’t you At least have what you have listed on the menu?? At least service was good and we tipped well.
Nice place to hang out by the water. Great summer destination. My only complaint is they seem to have a policy of kicking people out of an outdoor table when other people come in. We were there maybe an hour - hour and a half and had just finished dinner. Someone came over with menus and new customers to seat with them already and asked us to move so they could seat new people (while new people were standing at our table) I think this is a very bad policy. I would totally understand if people were just sitting and taking up tables but we were just finishing up our drinks after just finishing dinner and paying over a $100 tab for 2 people. It would not keep us from going back but I thought it was quite rude. I dont blame the worker. The girl said she was just following what they tell her to do. Its just a note that hopefully management or owners would see to maybe change your policy going forward and my main reason to not make it a five-star location. Also we went another time and were TOLD we need to pay the tab because our waitresses was leaving.. It was in a bit of a rude manner the way we were asked that bothered us. I know its busy in the summer and maybe you arent hurting for business but you might want to think about how you are handling customers especially people who are buying food and drinks. We have been there 3 separate times (all mid-week none on a weekend) and the food has always been good, not off the charts but decent and we will certainly be back. Honestly though without the location I dont think you would be in business long sorry to say. I think you need a much friendlier staff to start. I can certainly see a scenario where we might choose to go elsewhere if we wanted to sit and relax with a drink after dinner which you clearly cant do here unless you want to stand. We certainly werent loitering and if youre willing to pay for food and drinks you should be able to sit at your table and relax...or at least finish your drinks. We were asked to vacate our table as soon as our bill was paid before we even finished our drinks. The whole point of being at a place like this is a relaxing setting. Thats just my point of view. I have been on the other side where you are waiting on tables and you have people sitting for hours. I would understand then but that wasnt the case either time. I am updating now after reading other reviews...same issue other people noted so I would NOT recommend going if you want to relax by the water with drinks.. Great for a quick bite I guess. Also I notice a lack of response from owners or management so I guess policy is to turn tables quick and dont care about the overall experience.
Went there for the first time with my hubby for some dinner and drinks and to watch the sunset.Well we ended up with a $ 35 parking ticket . Really!! Those barriers you put up for slip holders are a little confusing. We honestly thought we were in a open spot. So needless to say by the ratings you are receiving that your food and service is not that goodSo we wont t be back, andand will spread the word Bad service and mediocre food. And confusing parking with a 35.00 ticket. No thanks. But the ice cream was good.
My husband and I went here last night for dinner. before a bike ride along the water. Eveything was great: service, food, view, and scenery. Are server was extremely attentive, kind, and efficient. Our food was delicious. We ordered drinks, lobster dantities, shrimp po-boy, and grilled chicken citrus salad. We will be back again soon!
My wife and I rode a tandem bike along the bike path of the outer harbor. We stopped at Charlies Boat Yard for dinner. She had seared tuna and I had Cajun broiled fish. Both dishes were delicious. We also had clams on the half shell. It was our first time there and we were very pleased. They had a live band on the patio also.
Terrible. Nice wait staff, other than that.... Awful! Waited an hour at the bar for a salad and wings. Wings tasted good, salad had been sitting in kitchen area for 45 min before they brought it out.... Forgot dressing.... I want to see all new businesses in Buffalo to succeed however they need to make some me changes before I would consider returning! Ugh!
Not impressed. Food was meh....tasteless. had the burger, it was dr . Bun was NOT fresh. No beer/drink menu. It wasnt crowded so Im not sure why the food was not top notch. They need to do better.....just because people launch their boats doesnt mean they have to eat at the only restaurant there. There are definitely other (better) places.
Buffalo has so many craft breweries, yet Charlies only carries three taps inside and three outside on the patio. Most beer drinkers prefer a selection of local craft beers. Why not put more taps in when you remodeled? Limited wine list too. Cash only outside...who pays with cash anymore? New restaurant is very loud! On the plus side, great location.
Worked there 2 weeks worst kitchen I have ever been in in my 20 yrs of cooking. They have no clue the money they could have made there. I worked at dugs for 4 yrs only to go back because I like the view and the people at the harbor. I left there to go to the best place in town. So glad I give up on those idiots best choice they have is to close down n let someone else take over. Food was a joke. No one knows whats going on in the back of the house. A 4 year old could do a better job then they are doing. Just another case of people trying to run a busy restaurant they do not need to running one. Menu is bland inconsistent and mediocre. 2.5 stars. Should be enough to let them know maybe next year take a step back and let the pros the over. So sad because that place was a gold mine.
After reading negative reviews of Charlies , eight of us decided to risk it and go see for ourselves. Glad we did - the three hours spent at Charlies were terrific. Good drinks, food and service! All of us enjoyed the food and attention to detail by our server, Steve. Thanks Charlies for a fun night out!
Omg..total renovation..beautifully done..on the lake..two floors now. Decks outside..great views..Love their menu..Im sure most could find a delicious item to satisfy their taste buds..eat or have a drink on decks..Congrats to the owners for giving visitors a place to really enjoy.
Well when the food was brought to the table I noticed all 5 chicken fingers were the same size and shape. There not even tenders they are shaped compressed chicken nugget chicken. When I told the waitress that if i knew they were chicken nuggets I would not of ordered them she said sorry your not the only one that has complained. $10 for chicken nuggets, would of went to McDonalds! Also nice vein in them.GROSS.Never had a call back from owner.
Started out fine. Personable and cheerful greeters, servers and outdoor bartender. Back of the house poorly managed. An hour wait for 2 appetizers. (We didnt bother to order the rest.) Unappealing food presentation, tasteless food, apparent chaos in the kitchen, no outdoor table service. This is no substitute for Dougs Dive. How anyone could screw up a restaurant in this great location is beyond me. They should be over the new restaurant hiccups by now. Talked to other diners who were in Buffalo on vacation. Not impressed with this glimpse of our city. Get better management and a decent chef.
Boat Yard Burger with Pico de Gallo and pepper jack was quite slamming plus the fries are battered and crispy. Stuffed hot peppers with cheese and sausage were hot and spicy, fried evenly and served with garlic bread. Service was kind and courteous plus the ambience is clean and modern. Will definitely be eating here again.
Showed up on a Tuesday at almost 6pm exactly, it was 90 degrees and sunny, approximately 30% of the tables were full. I was celebrating some recent accomplishments at work with my husband... We had paid for a babysitter. When we showed up we were promptly seated on the patio by request and the server was prepared for us with menus. Elizabeth immediately asked for our drink orders, was clearly annoyed when we asked for water but only upon request delivered a beer and wine menu. When she returned she took our food and beer order(6:15 pm) Everything seemed great, the beer was delivered promptly (6:20 pm) and the wait for the chef prepared food was timely(6:50 pm), a third party delivered our food and again upon request the third party delivered our forks. Not silverware, forks. All condiments needed to be requested as well. About ten minutes after the food, forks and condiments were delivered Elizabeth arrived again to take another beer order(7:05 pm). About fifteen minutes later(7:20pm) (and Im being generous) the fresh beer arrived. The food was tasty and we ate every last bite. Almost as soon as the food had been finished our server cleared the table and delivered the bill which we paid immediately without even a moments delay... Still... Seems like somewhat efficient service right? At 7:35 while sitting and finishing the last delivered beer (from 7:20 pm) Elizabeth returns and says verbatim I dont mean to be rude, but if youre just going to drink could you please move over to the bar now? ........ Holy Crows! Are you joking? I cant even finish my beverage without being rushed out of the seat I just spent $45 in?!... I walked out immediately and calmly noticing not only was there empty tables all around me but there wasnt a single person, couple or family waiting for a table.... Shame on you for opening an establishment where people cant sit and enjoy the last of their beverage AFTER paying the bill, without being shooed out of their seats by the wait staff. I will NEVER dine or drink here again nor will I refer any business associates and/or friends.
Great food if you can get it... Ruined by the terrible training front of house. Ridiculous seating policy. Theyre literally called a boat yard but get REAL angry if you want to eat on your boat. There kitchen cant keep up with their seating One of the owners (the bald one) is a total douche to his guests
Worst food and service Ive ever experienced. The waitress pretty much yelled at us for asking for the manager. The manager did not help and was just as rude as the waitress. I ordered the fish and chips, the about of grease on my plate was sickening. Overall one of the meals Ive ever had in my life
Insulted by server who said the hostess asked us to leave our table. This was shortly after we paid our bill. Server claimed they had a long line still waiting for a table. As we were leaving we saw several empty tables but saw not one person waiting to be seated. We gave her a large tip too.Won’t go back.
Got a burger and fries, my friend got a Philly cheese steak with fries, French Onion soup and a mixed drink. Happy with everything. The classic burger for 8.50 (with fries) was ridiculous. It was at least half a pound. Medium as requested, nicely char grilled on the outside. Fries were nice and crispy.
This place has a great location, so I want to like it, but Ive been here a few times and it is always disappointing. The restaurant is loud because the acoustics of the room are terrible. Service is extremely slow, and the food is overpriced and not very good. The location and lovely view of the lake are the only positives about this place. I was really hoping the new ownership would help, but it actually has gotten worse.
Of 4 sandwiches ordered, 3 had moldy bread. We complained, they tried to tell us it was flour. Im sorry, green flour?? Then they remade them, and only comped one sandwich. On top of that, the chicken on 4 of our plates was rubbery and undercooked. I wont be returning.
I brought my grandson today. We walked all over along the water and decks. So relaxing to be by the water and watch all the boats. Had a wonderful dinner filled with laughter, delisioso aperitivo, entrees, with entire staff was kind helpful patient and VERY accommodating 👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻Ended our evening watching one of many amazing live bands...my grandson was doing his dance moves along with clapping as much as I was🕺😁 Then he had a baby size🍦 which is more than youd think 😉 Perfect for younger children!
Great service. Friendly staff. Food has been good everytime I come here. Reasonable prices for food and drinks. Overall good atmosphere.... and from a single man pov, wait staff are all cute. Who wants some ugly chick bringing your food to you? LoL. Would be nice if they had touchtunes of even a jukebox.
At here at lunch and got the Wedge salad the salad was brown. I also had the barbecue sliders and they were dry as a bone. Came back for dinner because thats where I keep my boat. Ordered Cajun Fish and a Caesar salad. we sat here for 15 minutes and then asked to have our salads first she said I will have them get them started out fish came out first and she said they are still working on our salads. The fish was over done and rubbery and the salads were $8.00 that came after the meals. The good thing about Charlies cheap drinks only plus I see.

2021-06-22Early dinner. 4:00. Sat right down. Served right away by bartender. Sat at a pub table by the bar. Food was delivered quickly and hot. Very good. Drinks a little pricey. Will go back on a nicer day. Fish sandwich and shrimp in basket.

2021-08-10The scenery is beautiful, bursting with gorgeous flowers every place you look. Beautiful hand-built lighthouses and other artwork decorate this lovely destination. Charlies has a friendly staff and delicious food, all reasonably priced! Had a great time!

2022-05-09Nice place but my first impression was ruined by poor service on Mothers Day. Sat baking in the glaring sun for 20 minutes before we sought out a server to help. They replied they didnt see us sitting there (something to that effect). Wouldnt have minded the wait if we just had some drinks. Too bad cause food was good!

2020-06-30Stopped here during a bike ride on the Outer Harbor trail. So happy that we stopped. Staff was friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious! Calamari as an appetizer was outstanding. Entrees were great as well. Cant wait to stop again.

2022-07-10Told table would be 90 mins but turned out to be 55 mins. Hung out on back restaurant deck with live music great views and large outside bar. Service was great from friendly bartenders. They let you order food in the back so we appys while we waited for our table. Great overall vibe. Once seated was surprised how fair the prices were for the amount of fish / food. Only 18.95 for a large piece of haddock w sides. I thought it was really good. Our waitress was super friendly & we never felt rushed. Good times.

2022-06-15Ambience and view were great. Food was fair server was terrible. Every time we looked she was either texting, talking on her phone or gossiping with co-workers. Maybe if she spent more time on service then my order would’ve been correct.

2022-05-15I just got home from this place where were celebratingy sisters 65th birthday. It was a disaster!!First the girl at the sign in desk said they didnt have a reservation for our group, that they dont take reservations, and no parties over 9 people. Called my nephew and said he had made reservations for 15 people. Oops!! The girl didnt look at the reservation list. Finally they put together enough tables for us. It took nearly 45 before they took out drink orderSince they haveunchies on the tables, my sister asked for an order of fries for us to munch while we waited. It never came. The waiter ce back to take a second drink order. We said no, we wanted to order our food. He takes everyones order. Had a hard time remembering even after he had just written it down. He comes back a few min later and says hes one order short. So now he has to go around to all 15To find out who he forgot to write down. Finally the food comes except for 3 people. They asked where were their orders. We went to check. Comes back and says no o coconut shrimp left. So they order something else. I had a fish fry and asked 3 times for more tarter sauce. Still 3 people had no dinners. Most of us were done eating and 2 of the 3 orders came out. 3 Rd order never did show up. Ill never, ever go back there. We came for a party and it was a very tense and aggravating 2 1/2 hrs. The whole atmosphere was ruined!!
