Came here on a Friday night and had an absolute blast! The band was amazing and I was dancing and singing along with the music all night .I highly recommend if you like places with an older vibe . Great staff, great drinks, great music. Will definitely return with friends in the futurePro tip- if you’re coming with a bigger group , reserve a table !
Charlottes is one of Farmingdales hidden gems. I had a great time. The ambience, the staff, the jazz music, the drinks. I would give it 5 stars but I didnt have a chance to try any food because the place was packed. And dont get confused, the speakeasy bar is located under a yogurt ice cream cafe which was good for a late night snack afterward. I recommend anyone to visit and experience Charlottes for themselves. Sure you can go inside the store on the 1st floor but a word of advice, in order to get in the speakeasy, you must know the PASSWORD in order to get inside
I called there the day of to make reservations for that night and they were awesome. They got us a table no problem. I even had to call back to increase the amount of people worrying that they wouldn’t be able to accommodate us. But they already reserved us a booth so it was no issue. Their drinks are really good too, impressive bartenders
Would give 6 stars if I could. Nick, the owneris phenomenal. The place is quaint and nostalgic. Recently had a 60th birthday party there, 30 people fit comfortably. Extremely accommodating. You have the place to yourselves, including the outdoor patio. Highly recommend ******
This is our new spot! Everything from the decor to the live music took you back in time to a true speakeasy. My friends and I sat on the patio and were served drinks quickly while we ordered a flatbread, wings and the bruschetta. Everything was served hot and Was delicious. Will be coming back for sure.
I love this place!! The food is great, I love the music, and I love the overall atmosphere of the speakeasy! I love the concept of giving the password at the door, it makes it more realistic to how you’d get into a speakeasy in the 1920s. I recommended this place to all my friends: they’ve also gone and loved it too! Definitely try this place out, you won’t regret it!
Had my daughters Bridal Shower at Charlottes yesterday, postponed from last year and it was so worth the wait. It was the best time, John and Nick were great along with his servers. I highly recommend to use this place for your parties, and used Vespa for catering, Adin was so accommodating, food was terrific. It was all perfect. Many thanks!
We love this place! Upstairs is a frozen yogurt establishment and downstairs is a hidden speakeasy! If you know the password and pay the right person you are allowed entry to another life below! The live music was amazing and so were the drinks and food. Nick, thank you for a wonderful time! Sharon thanks you! Well be back soon!
My husband planned a surprise 5-0 party for me at Charlotte’s Speakeasy in Farmingdale. The owner Nick was in on it and he killed it- He was fantastic!!!!! His brother and co owner John made sure everything was set up just right for a PERFECT eveningImmediately from the start, I felt like a queen. Fabulous wait staff, drinks flowing, food was hot , great tasting and abundant, the band was wonderful and we were sat with full access to the upstairs outdoor patio which had a fire pit and patio heatersSimply the Best. I highly recommend for your special event or night out.!!!I’ll see you guys at my 60th
Started out great nice theme, bartenders great, and ambiance was awesome. Then it got way too crowded and the band started playing. First they started with tunes from the 50s then more modern stuff which completely ruined the mood. Would definitely of given another star of they get a better band
Very fun cool historic place. The atmosphere is great and everyone on the staff is wonderful! The drinks were very well made and nice and strong. I tried a Gin Rickey for the first time and it was pretty tasty. The big hit of the night though were the Georgia Specials. Awesome drink that got everyone happy! Im definitely going back there again!
A speakeasy underneath a froyo front. Very nice ambiance downstairs. Seating if you have a reservation. Otherwise standing room only. Our bartenders were so friendly and we got great service from them. Id recommend an evening in paris. The drink was like creamy lemon candy. There was a jazz band playing around 8 and they were really good. Next time Id make reservations for a table. The food looked pretty good too
Charlottes Speak Easy is a treasure! The owner is passionate about the history of this location and takes great pride in showing it off. The food is great with excellent selection of wines and liquors. A trio entertained the night I visited (8/29/19) and they were AMAZING! We had such a good time - THANKS!
Love love love this place. So cool how they ask for an actual password in the back of an ice cream shop. Its a hidden world you have to visit and ask for the private tour behind the closed doors to get the whole back story. Deep Pockets band is our favorite. They really get the house rocking. I just wish theyd get low carb beer like Michelob Ultra.
This spot is awesome and truly one of a kind on Long Island! We hosted a surprise birthday party for my brother, and the turnout was absolutely amazing. The owners (who I believe are brothers) were extremely accommodating in every aspect. They helped us set up, control the music, surprise the birthday boy, and really took care of us in every aspect. Whether a night on the town, an event, or even to just get FROYO, this should be a check on the bucket list.
After we gave the secret password, paid our cover and ordered our drinks there was a blackout due to a storm, but everybody stayed. The singer and trio kept playing even without a microphone and the drinks kept flowing. The host was very outgoing and nice, but even before the lights went out the wait staff was kinda slow. But its a cool place and the drinks were good.
Before I even walked in I called to make sure the password was correct. Jon had answered the phone and told me all the information I could possibly need. As soon as we got there we were greeted by the very friendly door man who asked us for the password and graciously open the door for us downstairs. We forgot to give our coats so I started to walk upstairs when Jon who I spoke to on the phone. He took our coats no problem. This place is overall amazing, I would recommend this place to everyone I talk too. And don’t be afraid to dress to impress. 1920s theme perfect for a date or throwback drinks with some close friends.
What a great place, I literally walked by looking for it. Well the ice cream shop is legit. But the actual speakeasy is awesome, the secret door is a great touch. The atmosphere was incredible, felt like I went back in time! Also learned that this was an real speakeasy back in the day! You can’t beat the authenticity! I love that I can just go to the outside patio to enjoy the weather! I’ll definitely be back!
Very cool!! The place was great and the drinks were not over priced! The owner was on the floor passing by making sure everyone was happy and also giving tours of speakeasy telling us stories and how they escaped and where... The owner had alot of passion of the speakeasy.. definitely going back
This was a totally fun experience and a little history lesson too...a la Prohibition. The vintage-style cocktails were fun to try but watching the mixologists at work was the highlight. The air was infused with a delightful citrus aroma as they cut away at rinds. The Saturday 40s/50s live nightclub music was a perfect addition to the atmosphere. May I suggest that you clear away most of the tables by 9pm so that patrons can cut a rug, swing-style?! Good music like that warrants getting out on a dance floor. Dont park in municipal lot behind this place as there is no legitimate pass-through, instead use lot on the east side or park on the street.
Very awesome spot. Came here with a friend Friday around 7 and were able to grab a hightop table.Initially, when we entered the unassuming icecream parlor with family and children running around, I questioned if i was in the right place. But sure enough, we were! Made our way to the back where there was a bouncer waiting. We had to pay a $5 cover amd show our IDs--but were never asked for the password to our disappointment. After all checked out, he opened the secret door which looked like shelves and we decended to what seemed to be a whole new world. Dark, sexy, and cool vibe. We grabbed a table and sone drinks. (PS the bartender Matt is GORGEOUS and very charismatic XD)Music was great. There was a nice mix between random people and obvious locals. Everyone was mingling with eachother. It was low-key in the beginning and gradually as it got louder and more booze was consumed, strangers were all dancing with eachother and everyone was clearly have a good time. Will definitely be back.
After a nice dinner at a local restaurant my friend asks if I want to grab some dessert. As soon as we walked in you can tell its no ordinary icecream shop. He says follow me, which I did. Theres a guy who seemed like a security guard and I remember saying why does an icecream shop need a security guard lol. My friend goes up to him and this security guard asks for the password and now im so confused I dont know whats going on. My friend whispered something too him and this guy pulls something on the bookshelf opening up a secret door to stairs going down. Mind blown!!! As I walk down I remember being in shock and at this point have no idea what just happened. The music was modern jazz style where the artist took some recent hit music and put a jazzy spin on it. The bar was full of great drinks and bartenders were on point. I highly recommend checking this place out if your into great music, something cool and a great night out with someone specisl or a group of friends.
I reviewed this place on Yelp. I just wish this place would close already. The way the doorman treats people, the regulars get in first. You can sit in front of the bouncer and literally he asks you over and over whats the password, and he wont let you in. Place is terrible, its overpriced, and over crowded. Rather go to blue Hawaii over this spot.
The music was great, and neat nostalgic venue, but the service bartender with the embarrassingly low cut rediculous top and extremely unattractive loose breasts practically flapping in the bar well, was rude, charged us 30 bucks for titos when i asked for grey goose, and had a disgusting attitude other than that, I loved entry way behind the book case below the ice cream parlor..
Door man who forgot he’s in the Service business made verbal SEXUAL harassement comments at me and group of my middle aged girlfriends. I would give negative stars if possible . It’s very sad how locals in Farmingdale get mistreated as Farmingdale becomes more over crowded and populated with underage drinking and children . BEWARE !

The staff was incredible and very attentive & friendly, great food, drinks were on point and overall a great atmosphere. The owner John was a pleasure to have around at the party. 2022-05-29Had my daughters Gatsby Sweet 16 party at Charlottes last week. It was amazing! Owners Nick and John helped me to plan the perfect event and John was an attentive, friendly, and intuitive host. Richard mixed an array of delicious non-alcoholic drinks for the kids, served in fancy glasses that perfectly complemented our theme. The food from Felicos Caterers was excellent, too. If you havent been to this beautiful place, check it out this summer--you will not be disappointed!

2022-05-15Went for a private party. Really cool vibe and the fact that it was once a real speakeasy in the past made it more interesting. The owner was available to give a tour and explain the history of the building. Everyone was really nice and I would visit again!

The jazz band Deep Pockets certainly added to the feel of the night… I look forward to going back with friends and enjoying another Great Night.. Mike and Karen Massapequa NY
