Chelsea Piers Fitness in other cities:
Best gym in all of NYC! I wish I could give 10 stars. I forgot to cancel my membership for months due to covid, and later when I found out, they gave me an equal length of free membership! Great communication, staff are super nice, and let alone the out-of-this-world large space, track (!!), gym equipment, classrooms, basketball courts, and a pool!! With a jacuzzi and a sundeck you can chill on! The locker rooms are super clean, showers are wonderful. My favorite is the group workout classes. So worth it!
THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST GYM IN NEW YORK CITY.I was shopping for a gym for quite some time. I always wanted to go to Equinox but they did not let me even have a try workout and swim in the pool before I join, they had the poorest customer service full of attitude and pretentiousness so i decided not to join.Friend of mine suggested to give it a try to a Chelsea Piers Fitness. I was looking for a gym with a pool so i schedule appointment for a tour.Since the moment i walked in, it was nothing but incredible experience in so many levels. Anant welcomed me warmly, gave me a great tour, explained me the benefits that i get with the membership and I decided to join on the spot. $200 is not cheap membership but it is so much worth of every dollar and more. As a courtesy i got 300$ on my account that i can spend in personal trainings or guest passes and 3 training free. I did my free trainings with Marino who was super nice, funny and professional. In just 3 training Marino pointed out what i should work on and gave me great exercises and tips. I love to swim too, and their pool is just what I needed. Daylight, view on river, hot tub, never too crowded, again staff at the pool super nice. The best part is that i joined wall climbing class with Dante and it was mind blowing. Dante was such an amazing teacher, nice, professional, patient, and so encouraging and i am in owe that he actually made me do that tall wall all the way to the top. The feeling after is just beyond. I am hooked to wall climbing! All together i love that gym so much and i am so grateful and happy that i find it! Feels like home. Highly recommended guys!
Hands down the best gym I have ever been to. Also one of the most beautiful at the same time with views of the Hudson and New Jersey skyline. Locker rooms are kept perfect and clean, with at least one locker room attendant on staff to keep it that way all day. Whats interesting is that the gym goes are quiet and keep to themselves. Gyms are notorious for having some animated characters, but that just doesnt happen here.It also has the highest balance of female to male gym goers Ive ever seen. 200$/month is fairly expensive for a gym, but I box for example. Since there is already boxing equipment there I do not need to pay for a separate boxing gym in addition to a weight training gym, so I can justify the cost more. Ive read it is the best gym in Manhattan for sports players and athletes, given the infrastructure they have there. Cant say I disagree with that either. 5 stars across the board.
Like another reviewer said, it’s beautiful something like this exists in the city. It’s so impressive what this gym offers that I think for the price, it’s extremely extremely fair.I go to the Brooklyn location but have gone to this chelsea location twice. The view is amazing and I love the track so much. It definitely has more facility options than Brooklyn location such as basketball court, volleyball, rock climbing, boxing etc. I do love that the membership allows you to visit both locations, definitely makes it worth it and keeps it interesting so your body and mind doesn’t get complacent!I do have to say, for a first timer it’s extremely hard to find especially if you don’t frequent chelsea piers.
This is far and away the best gym I have ever been a part in my life, its honestly beautiful that something like this exists in New York. If you come, theres a few people you should make sure you meetKelvin Santana -- membership advisor, made me feel welcome throughout my time at Chelsea and continued to take care of me throughout my time there-- not just up until the contract signing. Work with him!Mike Nicholson -- amazing trainer, you should absolutely hop on his group fitness classesLeon -- he oversees the swimming pool. If you go swimming, strike up a conversation with him, hes great!
So much better than Equinox. Incredible instructors, very helpful and courteous/chill staff. The facilities are beyond incredible. Love the newly renovated lounge/work area. Fresh & Co inside, which is really nice because there are incredible organic and healthy options at great prices, but this location is inside the gym and exclusive to members and therefore has more product available (I find that other locations in the city tend to run out of my favorite items quickly)Great swimming pool, spinning, hot yoga room, etc. Rock climbing wall is beyond amazing. Sundeck is unbelievable. A bunch of other stuff I didnt use but are awesome too. Literally anything you could ever wish for -- all in one place.Their response times and feedback systems are especially amazing. Chelsea Piers Fitness may be the most underrated luxury yet. I just really love this gym. SO glad I switched.
I have had some free passes from a corporate bank event was held two years ago before Covid- the time that they gave they said there was no expiration date -we asked and they had said so back in that time- today the staff almost made fun of it. First of all, as a friendly reminder to your staff that we have gone through a big quarantine time. And when you were giving away, you had said they don’t have any expiration date. And another annoying attitude was how did you get it-with a smile on their face? Their attitude needed an answer like I stole it but anyway, I explained it nicely and left.My previous experiences were great btw. It’s a gem in the city and they probably think it’s enough. I would definitely prefer a welcoming place.
Amazing customer service: everybody Ive had contact with so far has been friendly and helpful. Good follow-through. People that want to see you engaged at the facility. The facility itself is great, of course and Ive told anyone I know that if they can afford it thy should check it out, that its changed my approach to working out. Airy, gorgeous, huge place with inspiring views-no dungeon like most Manhattan gyms here. They also keep it immaculate at all times and the cleaning ladies in the locker room are extremely sweet and personable.Antoinette is the person whos helped me the most so far and the main reason Im even there, as she tried to get me in without being pushy about it. You feel like you belong to a country club without the attitude.
This space is paradise in NYC. Simply love it. With all the craziness in the city and to be able to be a member of this fantastic environment it is a true gift. The views of the river alone is worth it. The staff, instructors, and trainers are all top notch. The place is relatively empty on off hours. Been there during peak hours but the space is so massive it is easy to find an empty space. If I could give this space 10 stars I would. Highly recommend!!!!
This place is really really really awesome. If you are an active person (even if you are not), youll find this place like a wonderland, so many things to do, surrounded by so many great people and great views. The facility is always clean and the staff is awesome. Its just a great place to transform yourself into anything you want. They even have equipments for you to become the Hulk.Another thing I love about Chelsea Piers fitness is the free classes, a lot of them, really awesome way to train with a group and push yourself.I highly recommend you give this place a try.
I belonged to Chelsea Piers for one summer during triathlon training. The facility itself is amazing and the classes were excellent, especially the spin classes which overlook the Hudson River. It always feels slightly empty (which is nice) because of how big it is. The pool is beautiful and the pool deck that is outside is the perfect place to relax after a good swim or workout. The showers and locker rooms are impeccably clean and well-stocked with anything you could need. The biggest downfall of this place is that it is so expensive and inconveniently located. Even the closest train is still three avenues away from it. If you have a car or live way on the west side and can afford this gym, it may be for you.
By far the best gym in Manhattan. Spacious, luxurious and has everything you want in a gym and more. Swimming pool, sundeck, spacious weight training, indoor track, basketball, boxing, rock climbing, spa, volleyball and an endless list of classes available free to all members; it even has food and sushi available. Staff is well trained and helpful. Locker room is spacious and clean; it also has two saunas and showers. Highly recommend you join this gym as well. The gym members are diverse, friendly and helpful as well.
I was too happy to come to this gym. I have no words about the staff and the conditions.Everything was cleaned and the trainers the best.Im writing this review with one star because when I decided to leave the gym for personal reason, I signed the cancellation form October 1 but the gym charged me again on October 2nd for $175.I went to the front desk, they said me that was a new menager who I have to talk with,Cecilia.I spoke with her and she didnt accept that was her fault but after I 3min of speaking she said that you have 30 days to make the payment cancellation. She didnt say that in the moment. And I asked her to send me an email showing me where is written this. Its been 1 hr waiting and Im not receiving the email from her.Im very disappointed cause I wanted to come back after 2 months but now I dont want anymore to come
This is a business that does right by me. The customer service is 5 star! The facility is amazing, the classes are tough, but the instructors really pay attention to your form. I just realized that I cannot jump rope for my chisel class, but she kept encouraging me to take it slow and Ill get the hang of it (I felt super slow, yet she was encouraging). This place is not too shabby: from the front desk, to the fresh juices in the food lounge area, the spa, the locker room and the sun deck. There are great basketball courts, a climbing wall, an indoor track, indoor pool and I could go on and on.Go here and focus on your physical well being. Youll not be disappointed.
Nothing in NYC even come close to Chelsea Piers, this gym simply has everything: its clean, its never crowded, it has an indoor track, a boxing ring, a climbing gym, a sand volleyball court, several basketball courts, a swimming pool, an unbeatable view, and I could go on and on and on. But above all its an oasis in the concrete jungle thats New York, a place to get recharged, relaxed and become a better, faster, stronger version of yourself.
I like that we have everything all under one roof - from Master swim team to rock climbing. What can be improved is the following:I was excited to hear that we were getting HOT YOGA, which meant I no longer needed to go elsewhere for that - adding yet the last piece at the Chelsea location. Unfortunately, the room is not what it needs to be for HOT YOGA, it is TOO DRY. Hot Yoga rooms need to have moisture to assist the muscles in the various yoga poses. I gave it one more attempt this past Friday - It is so dry that I tried spraying my yoga mat with water as well as myself, but it and I dried up instantly. Please fix this, its a big miss :(
I work on 2 yachts that leave out of the piers and Ive been working there for years, yesterday my coworker told me to pick up lunch at Fresh & Co so when I got upstairs I was given a dirty look i guess because I was in my maintenance clothes and was told I wasnt a member of the gym. Front desk needs to learn how to communicate with people. I definitely wont be supporting this business as well as my friends wont be.
A great gym containing basketball courts, 200m banked track, 400m track (shared with the 200m track but continues around the gym), a 6 lane 25 yard swimming pool, a rock climbing wall, powerlifting equiment, cardio, two large studio classrooms, one spin studio, juice / food bar, sauna, hot tub, and outdoor patio. There is alot going on at chelsea piers!I primarily use the gym for the pool, which I have found to be the best (in my limited experience) in nyc. The 6 lanes are enough to hold everyone who wants to swim even if there is a masters swim class. They provide pull buoys and boards and some other random toys for everyone to use. There is a hot tub nearby as well. The pool is located in a massive room with high ceilings and large windows to let plenty of light in.The locker rooms provide all essentials plus some extras such as razors, combs, and mouthwash. The locker room aesthetic was not as impressive as Equinoxs but it functioned all the same. The biggest downside to the gym is the location.
Great place for sports, family fun, games with friends and rival teams. Although expensive, they have everything from soccer and rock climbing to gymnastics and basketball. My favority part is the shooting range when you get to shoot gold balls into the Hudson River (restricted by the net, of course) while enjoying beautiful views overlooking the river. And dont forget to check out a restaurant / bar on premises that has its own brewery.
Weve been living in New York City for the last two decades and have always been drawn to Chelsea Piers for this and that (say, disco bowling). But when we had kids the stakes (on fun) were raised and Chelsea Piers has provided lots and lots of opportunities for just that--birthday parties, gymnastics classes, skate park, you name it---and well be happily hitting events and activities there ad infinitum!!!
Perpetual energy: my first impression about this gym. I knew Chelsea Piers Fitness was my calling, solely based on my intuition gathered from such a positive environment. Amy, a member consultant at CPF, was the woman who provided me with a well-guided and beautifully narrated orientation; I felt like I was in a movie. From recreational athletes to world class competitors, I have noticed that each individual, from direct or indirect experience and observation, acquires some form of latent inspiration to become motivated to push themselves to their best capabilities. I love the uniqueness and diversity of the staff, management, and trainers. These ingredients engender a creative, productive, and most importantly, a happy workplace. I am so grateful and proud that the professionals at CPF are an epitome of the balance between competition and compassion. This type of chemistry is what keeps me coming back to CPF to train for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Keep it up guys! I am excited to see where you guys end up 5 years in the future!
The facilities here are high quality, no doubt about it. This place pretty much has everything sports-related that you can think of thats NY-appropriate. The location is a bit out of the way, and the bathroom amenities could be of higher quality, but overall a good place to work out.
UPDATE - CPF refunded me the difference of the last month membership fee ($35). Though Ive canceled my membership and have not been going there due to my moving, its nevertheless still a great gym in terms of facilities, classes offered and instructors. Havent found anywhere more comprehensive and at this quality.===================I LOVE this gym! Theres SO MUCH that you can do here and the class instructors are THE BEST. My ideal day would start with 2-3 hours at this place. And Ive been recommending to all my friends whos interested in taking on a gym membership. Not anymore.Im canceling my membership after one year. The price went up from $200 to $235 in a year. Although their trainers and onsite staff are all great, the membership department (except the guy who signed me up but left the gym) is beyond disappointing. When I signed up the rate was $200 - including all the fees and taxes. The membership staff *explicitly* told me $200 is all inclusive and all I have to pay, but then a few weeks later, they started charging me tax ON TOP OF the $200 fee.And without noticing me at all, they started charging me $235 before my first 12 months is even up.I contacted the membership staff over the email asking about the increased fee, one day later they called me during my meetings, left a voice message says theyd reply to my email to follow up. NEVER DID. I called up the number they left me, no one picks up.I love this gym but the membership department is only nice to you when they try to sign you up.And the Bluestone Lane onsite has the WORST staff. Making undrinkable lattes and never refund you even when they said they would. And NEVER shows the slightest sense of apologies even when they screw up your orders on repeats.

2022-02-11Once the best gym in the city, the quality of this gym has dramatically declined due to mismanagement and the high price point is no longer justified (especially after they raised my rate by an obscene 30% in less than a year). The recent renovations were poorly thought out and have completely ruined the track and the workout experience on the weight deck. The track is now tiny with two narrow lanes and is no longer banked. There’s a massive and unsafe dip in the track on both sides. The track has a mondo surface but they recently put up a sign saying that spikes aren’t allowed. Mondo tracks are only good for spikes!!With the renovations, they installed this turf area right in the middle of the gym. It’s used exclusively for classes almost every night and it ruins the workout experience for everyone else at the gym. The music and the the shouting are so loud and unless you’re in the class, it just sounds like noise. I complained to the gm, Leslie, and she told me that she wanted it as loud as possible to make the gym seem more energetic to prospective members. I suggested she go to the strength class during Monday nights class to experience it first hand. Not only did she not do that, I noticed that she was taking the class!!Also, they offer gym money when you sign up but not even the staff knows what you can spend it on besides personal training so don’t fall for it.

2022-04-06This gym used to be really high class but it has gone downhill and the types of people they let in do not know how to behave and have no manners.People leave a mess everywhere they go and do not clean up after themselves. Staff need to actually tell people what appropriate behavior is instead of trying to keep up with cleaning staff running around these animals.

2022-07-08By far the worst gym in NYC. The customer service for an upscale gym is truly disappointing. I was charged for extra months for a gym I cannot use when I tried to cancel.Place is also extremely crowded.

2022-04-08Things just keep getting worse. Leadership has to change. Management has become so focused on trying to recruit young tech workers and high school kids that they’ve pushed away long term members and destroyed the feel of the gym. It’s become unsophisticated.

2020-09-21The immense space justhits you in the face. You can really spread out;no doubt its a cool place. Two sundecks if you like fresh air.(Now theyre holding classes out there.)The staff is nice enough, but they get treated kinda rough...Old timers fired, newcomers bone-tired.Nonetheless, as gyms go, its the best.Though it is kind of far west ....

2022-06-08Best gym on the planet. Chill. Clean. Tons of open space. Every possible training equipment and space you can imagine.

2021-12-18I went there on a guest pass and my god is it gorgeous. Its like the other reviewer mentioned - a playground for adults. You have almost everything you need there. You can easily end up spending hours without even realizing.Every one of the staff that I interacted with were at their friendliest.Loved the 400mtr track. Swimming pool and the jacuzzi were awesome. Locker room was clean and full of amenities. Wish I had tried boxing and rock climbing. Also wish it was in a more accessible location.Highly recommend this.

2022-02-18They’ve increased the prices dramatically without notifying members. I’ll cancel once the winter over. Also they dont allow spikes on the track designed for spikes***update***In response to their response. They did send out a generic email saying that there would be an annual rate increase. The email did not however state by how much. Most members were on some sort of preferential rate, for example I was on the corporate rate. The email did not state that they intended to get rid of these rates. Some members received 50% rate increases which isn’t something you could reasonably assume from the email they sent. What they’re doing is unethical price gouging at a time when many New Yorkers are still struggling due to the pandemic. Also, I don’t think there’s any way to dm you directly just through the google account….

2022-04-07Please ban members who take photos of other members changing in the locker room, and members who engage in activity in the steam room and saunas. Chelsea piers has not made a concerted effort to combat this.
