Cherry Valley Marketplace in other cities:
When I discovered this store I nearly cried from pure joy! Everyone is super friendly from the cashiers to the managers! Since Im originally from California and half Mexican and half Guatemalan, Ive gotten use to being able to find all my Latin ingredients very easily in Cali. In the past 4 and half years in NYC I have found it difficult to find the things I need. This store is everything Ive ever wanted in a grocery store. They have fresh produce and are well stocked in all the basic items PLUS they have and excellent stock of my Latin favs! I couldnt ask for more! The first time I walked in I sent my sister photos and text to show her what I found! I will be a regular shopper!
The vegetables section is a joke. Never in my life have I seen a more sadder place then their veggie section. The veggies and fruits have either gone bad or are close to expired. Half the section needs to be thrown out!The place seems decently clean inside but outside looks a disaster. It always has trash outside and the sidewalk around the supermarket is in desperate need of a wash. The lines move decently fast. The isles are very narrow no space; barely enough for you and a cart. Never have I seen a supermarket like this not even in the Bronx..wish there was a bigger and fresher supermarket available.
They dont care about regular customers. I shop there 3-4 days a week. I needed a delivery their policy is $60.when you live right across the street. I had a $51.00 order .Im 62yrs old I couldnt carry those things alone.I came in to get a few items but add extra things. I never imagined that they wouldnt deliver for a regular customer
Okay this place is one of those places that has its pros and cons its cheap and open all night however the meat is not fresh at all and I got sick from eating the food thats on display for lunch other then that its halfway decent and they have these cool mango ice pops with chili powder that my wife likes thats the only reason why they dont get one star
Very nice place to shop always clean the shelves always full the worker take notice that you frequent their store and when they see you they speak very respectful what I have against the store is that I see no people of color no Caucasian no Chinese we have a very diverse neighborhood so at least one of every nationality that frequents the store should be hired
The store is open 24 hours which is very convenient, but the quality of food for the price is not up to par. Just because the neighborhood is being gentrified does not give people/store owners the right to raise the prices but have the same lackluster quality of food. Not to mention you cannot walk past the store without being haggled by βcrackheadsβ.
Good place to shop. They just need to be more diverse. A lot of people in the neighborhood they feel they only hire there kind been shopping here for many years I never seen them hire people of color black people or any at all.lot of my friends try to get a job there.
They frequently forget to update sale priced items, so if you dont catch it and call them out on it, you end up paying full price because thats whats in their system. The first few times I thought it was an innocent mistake but this happens so frequently (once I started looking for it) that the only reason Im still going there is because its closer than any other supermarkets. The staff seem like good people, the store is clean and selection is good, but the incompetence in updating the system with weekly sales items--and ripping off customers who dont notice and point it out--is just too much.
Took advantage of their customer. -Ive been going to this grocery for many years, supported them as both Associated and now Cherry Valley as the new owner. Ive always tipped the grocery guys for the free delivery and been friendly with all the workers and management.I signed up for their loyalty program when it came out. Recently, other customers have found a loophole in the loyalty program and been abusing it, so mgmt took steps to close the loophole, as they should. Which brings us to an incident last week. A new cashier rang up my groceries, while the manager on duty came over to bag them and say hello since he was familiar with me. The new cashier forgot to swipe my loyalty card which was an honest mistake. Since it was a large purchase (almost $140) which would have netted me many points, I asked the manager to fix the mistake. He refused and said it was out of his hands, and told me it was my mistake for not catching it sooner... I can understand taking steps to keep customers from stealing. But stealing from your customers should never be a part of the process. Very disappointed.
Every single time I go ,I have a very pleasant experience. Juan Carlos, one of the managers, is extremely helpful. The cashiers are also very kind and helpful. Very well stocked supermarket. I worked in a Food Emporium for over twenty years ,and they had very high standards...great sales also and free home delivery.
I avoid this supermarket at all costs. The majority of their items are overpriced . When they do offer a sale its usually attached to having to spend at least $25. Case in point, they offer 3 packs of Bustelo coffee for $10 if you purchase $25 worth of groceries. Other supermarkets in the neighborhood dont obligate you to make an extra purchase. I would rather walk to another supermarket then give them my hard earned money. My next task is to notify Consumer Affairs!!
Ive grown up with this place as a youngster into adulthood. Long, long before It was Cherry Valley, it was Associated. This was a recent change. But its basically the same attitude. This neighborhood moves at an islands pace, and the quality of food on the shelves and the produce section has to be given a pass. Its mad ghetto, even as far as low-income neighborhoods go. You have to accept what you can get, around here. The deli is polite and considerate most of the time, and I dont want to fault any of the cashiers. Whether they realize it or not, the cashiers are frequently rude, however, and pay very little attention to me, even when its not busy, and I suspect Im not sure if its because I dont speak Spanish, but whatever. My real gripe with this place is that they will close fifteen minutes early every night, and when you come to the glass doors, they are rude and dismissive. This is not an experience Ive ever had anywhere at any location. Their prices are a joke, considering the location, and if they have a sale, youd better make it a good half hour before their closing time because they simply DO NOT CARE about you, and will lie and tell you they close at 10 and if you press the issue will lie AGAIN and say they close nine minutes early. No class. No pass.
Prices are horrible, if you think you are going to feed your family with their prices, you are sadly mistaken. Lets not forget to mention their meat is unsatisfactory and must be cooked immediately or else it will go bad, they have a limited selection of groceries, they price gauge, and I have personally had food poison from their ground meat. If you can avoid here, please do!
My regular shopping spot. Latin foods on the hot food/salad bar, deli and a huge selection of packaged specialty fish in the aisle. Huge selection of Latino food including bulk 20lb.bags of various types of rice. Predominantly Latino staff so more Spanish than English here depending on who is working that day. Open 24hrs!
Its the cleanest in the area. If Im wrong lmk which pl is better. Has a huge gelatin selection great for making gummie candies. The price on cookie mix is pretty steep but they have oatmeal chocolate chip and sugar cookie mix. I buy all the ingredients needed for my candies n bakes here.
The prices are too high, but my low rating is not due to that, some cashiers have a bad attitude and expressions very bad... like fea para la foto. this is ridiculous !!!!! they really need a little education. please take actions and make a quick class about the customer care. Their attitude is terrible and someone like a manager needs to improve this. very sad. sorry for that...
So I brought a few items the other day. One of them was a Large patato salad from the deli. When I got home which was close to 8:30pm or so I got my plate and went to put a spoon full on my plate. I tasted it and realized the salad was spoiled. I had medical appointments a day or so later so I couldnβt make the trip back uptown immediately. I go in the store today with the spilled potato salad asked for a manager. He immediately looked at the receipt and said it is past 24 hours it is nothing I could do. I spent close to $10 a good manager would have been concerned with customer satisfaction. He did not offer me any solution and pointed to the store policy on the wall. Furthermore he told me the receipt states it as well. The receipt clearly says meat can not be returned after 24 hours. Potato salad and meat are two different items. The story policy sign is on the wall rather small which it does have more items listed. A good manager would have had common sense and know that he was dealing with a consumer that knows her stuff. Not sure if I would contact the Day manager. But I am lodging complaints with the Board of Health, NYS DEPARTMENT OF MARKETSUNSAFE FOOD and anyone else who cares to listen to me. This is not how consumers issues should be be resolved it was slightly under $10 and I will never step foot in this store again. And I will follow all my complaints until the end.I was in the store around 7:45 pm on October 10, 2018. The manager needs to be retrained or dismissed because he handed me poorly. He also offered to throw the potato salad out which is a form of covering up my complaint. I left with it in my hand. Teach your managerial staff how to handle consumers. I believe this is a franchise so I will Be escalating this further and beyond.
This store is ok for the community it serves, but needs to also adjust tremendously to the other customers who frequent the store, but do not live within its immediate surroundings. The community is mostly low to no income, but their prices benefit middle income. So theyre making most of their money from ppl who dont live in the immediate area, but have overpriced items items on things that should be affordable because of the community. I also believe that more floor ppl should be available and they and the Cashiers should be able to understand and speak English better. Yes, its Spanish Harlem, but a good percentage of ppl that live in this section do not speak or understand the language.
A decent local store. I lived in the area for four years and saw it change owners and undergo renovations. The produce is better now, with decent variety. You wont ever see something new that challenges you, but maybe other people dont love that. Anything super yuppie -- berries, melon, some citris, avocado, kale -- is super overpriced and poor quality. Better to purchase from a street vendor. Also, they did away with the fresh fish. Actually, the meat quality has really declined. But some stables are always super cheap: eggs, bread, beans. Occasional steals on yogurt, tuna, ground turkey, nutella.
My apples, my coconuts, my bread, my board head brand deli. Their deals compete with whole food supermarkets and Cherry Valley is the winner. Cherry Valley is more than convenient in price and distance. Cherry Valley is a 24 hours open supermarket meaning giving the community the opportunity to work their tough work schedules and do their grocery shopping at their own time. More than a benefit is finally a privilege.
For the pass three years the items has gotten too expensive for the population thats around the area for Eastern myself I have a fixed income and I am limited to what I can buy I had a letter so used to cost me 125 and paying $3 now gamete that I used to get for $5 is 10 and $15 more so is very stressful for me to pick and choose what I can and cannot buy besides that customer service Diane Floyd the stop her every kind and sweet I know them for seven years that Ive been living in this area now
Cherry valley is a OVERPRICED 24 hour supermarket filled with SPOILED foods, meats, fruits, veggies and beverages. YES, you should always check dates and quality before purchasing. BUT when youre a supermarket charging Downtown (High quality)prices for products that are poor quality, then at least make sure your products arent expired and spoiled. I can understand if it happens once or twice. But to have a supermarket filled with SPOILED poor quality products on a daily. Now thats a issue! Not to mention the customer service is so uncomfortable and unprofessional. They charge Wholefoods prices for cheap quality food. A few people I know had food poisoning from buying their meat. Signs where even posted up around the neighborhood warning not to purchase meats or food. It seems they resell expired meat . The fruits are always spoiled and poor quality, yet they over charge you for it. If you plan on purchasing from cherry valley I highly suggest you check all dates and quality, make sure its worth th price being charged. The only convenience of this overpriced supermarket is theyre open 24hours. I only come here to purchase water or coffee from the deli. Youre better off going to Aldis or Wholefoods and getting your moneys worth. Dont over pay for poor quality that can make you or your family sick.
I have been a customer for over 3 years. The Ladies and one gentleman who works the checkout, are very kind and treat me nice. Last night I along with several others waited in a line quite a while. When the white guest who were clearly tourist became frustrated, then and only then a New line was opened. No the darkies werent ushered to alleviate our waiting, subsequently the situation left me unhappy and coincidentally I lost 40 bucks. I think I will shop elsewhere until my patronage and the CASH( not stamps which shouldnt matter) I spend is appreciated.
I wanted Johnny Danger to know they carry Mexican Style Chorizo at the meat market on E.138th Street between Brook Avenue & St.Anns. EVERYONE knows the spot for you in the future. Other than that ImI content with the produce and deli section. Of course they are slightly more expensive, but absolutely worth the trip as the selection is decent
Run of the mill, Spanish owned & operated grocery store. I do not advise ordering deli sandwiches. They are pre made and are mostly bread - the deli meats are also pre sliced, packaged & stacked in front of deli counter. If I wanted pre packaged food I would head over and find Oscar Meyer.
I love this market...awesome staff but dont really care for ur meat department...guys always get what i ask for wrong and they talk about the customer while they r right there standing waiting...its just rude, but the managers r AWESOME and so r the ladies at the registers...β€π
I like the store because its right around the corner from my house and I can run in the anytime and pick up what I need nine times out of 10 they have what Im looking for the only problem I have with them sometimes is that they are a little high on certain items prices

2022-03-21Although I was at this store with a friend to get sandwiches from the Deli. Which is next to my favorite place in supermarkets which is the produce department. The fruits and vegetables looked fresh. If I lived in the neighborhood that would be a place I would shop for my fruits and veggies.
