Went for dinner. We had the pork stuffed tenderloin, salmon and the burger. The food was fantastic. The cauliflower mash is as to die for. Make sure to say yes when the offer bread it was great too. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Bathroom and restaurant was spotless.
We stumbled on this restaurant and had a fantastic dinner! The prices were very reasonable, the service was attentive and the meal exceeded expectations. I had a cocktail special which was well crafted. Our server recommended some appetizers and explained the farm to table menu.Definitely worth the trip if you are anywhere near the area. Order the recommended appetizer with the remoulaude sauce - you will not be disappointed! We did not save room for dessert, but the table next to us had an amazing looking chocolate mousse which easily could have fed two people.
I came here once for their Octoberfest and loved it. Good beer, good wings, and good pizza. Now I’ve been here for dinner. Chicken wings are still good, chicken piccata was very very good and had a pecan brownie sundae . The staff is very friendly. The inside is cozy and has a nice little bar. Quite a little gem on route 6.
Went for Restaurant Week 2021. Had Brussels Sprouts, Crab Cakes, Chocolate Mousse. All of the food was excellent! I am a good home cook, and the mousse & crab cakes were better than I have ever made! I was surprised at the portions, bigger than most Restaurant Week restaurants. I shared the appetizer & dessert with my husband, & let him have a bite of the crab cakes. He ordered a pasta dish and was very happy with his food. Highly recommended! A gem in Orange County NY.
Absolutely horrible....Garlic knots are dough, not even cooked and I could literally pull it apart like uncooked dough.Pizza looked fake, but gave it a chance and also not impressed. Does not taste horrible but Id rather by a $6 pizza from sams club and cook it at home for a 10x better pizza..
Where to begin, well I guess at the beginning...we, like I assume many others, were hoping that the Chianti Cow would turn things around after the Restaurant Impossible makeover. My wife and I just took our first vacation since COVID-19 started and decided to give them a shot since we were staying only 15 minutes from the restaurant. Our lodging host recommended other restaurants in the area (not a good sign), but we decided to go for it anyways. We showed up on Saturday 2 hours before close and we didnt have reservations, but the place didnt seem that busy...we waited 5 minutes for them to clear a table for us, which was fine, but we were informed that there was a private event going on outside and things may take a little longer, again this was okay to us. However, everything after this point was inexcusable, slow service, but we were one of only 3 tables in the place. Every table was left not cleared after guests left, servers were chatting with the locals the entire time, and ignoring our drink order. It took 10 minutes to get the drinks that we ordered and it seemed as if they were a little light on the alcohol that should be in a cocktail. We still had not been given silverware or offered a glass of water. Finally we placed our order for food, a pork sandwich special and a harvest chicken dinner. The food came quickly and the presentation was fairly good, but again you cannot put lipstick on a pig and expect anything but disappointment. The pork was significantly overdone and beaten to death before breading and then putting it on more bread and then the sauce was inconsistent on the two halves of the sandwich, with one being so watery the bread became soupy and the other half was crunchy. The worst part however was that as my wife made her way through the chicken she got to the thicker part of the breast and discovered it was mostly undercooked and fairly inedible. At this point we were both over it all as the servers have no idea how to run a front of the house as they could not figure out how to make a pot of coffee or if they had a blender to make a drink for one of there signature cocktails. It was about this point that one of the servers parents called the bar and she chatted with them for a few minutes and then the whole family arrived and sat at the bar 30 minutes later and clearly got preference over other customers. All and all this was a completely underwhelming experience and that is just so disappointing given there are much better restaurants just down the road in neighboring towns. We will not be back. I wish I could have given a better review.
Place looks so warming and fresh after the remodel. I also would suggest keeping the menu small but refreshed weekly or biweekly depending on local fresh ingredients maybe just a 2-3 appetizers, 1 salad and 3-4 entrees. A family style option that serves 4 would be awesome like whole roasted chicken and 2 side dishes is not only cost efficient but so much easier to order rather than 4 separate dishes. Wish them well and keep up the passion and smiles! 🥗🌽🐄👨👩👧👧💕
We had an intimate dining experience. I wouldnt take company here, just a romantic get-together in the Chianti Cow.The menu is diverse, and the cooking combines familiar but fresh ingredients in unusual and interesting ways. For instance, the lobster ravioli was definitely lobster-forward as it should be, but the dough contained cinnamon, a stimulating pairing of two familiar flavors. Further, the chef layers these novel combinations in any single dish, using a variety of scratch sauces. Lots of love in this cooking.Cant wait to go back, especially during harvest season. I have a feeling we would not have dined there if we hadnt gotten there early without a reservation on a Saturday night. Next time Ill call ahead.Only suggestion I have is that the full-bodied espresso should be served with a biscuit and lemon peel.
We came up from Long Island for a quiet few days break, not too many restaurants in the immediate vicinity so we can upon Chianti Cow, saw some of the interesting dishes posted and saw the Restaurant Impossible makeover. When we read about how the dishes were emphasizing fresh and farm to table ingredients and novel recipes we were very interested. We are not food snobs, love finding quaint local spots and enjoying their fare, this was not a good find.We came in last evening, (Thursday) while 2 other tables were seated plus a table that seemed to be friends of the house having drinks. Our waitress quickly took our order, I tried the lobster bisque off the daily specials and my wife tried the potato soup also off the specials. My bisque was not bad but certainly not great. My wife and I both agreed her potato soup tasted a bit weird, until she discovered chunks of clam. She had been given clam chowder by mistake. Alarming that we could not tell what kind of soup it was, and luckily she did not have a seafood allergy.Though the restaurant was slow , I sat with an empty beer for almost 10 minutes until offered another round by someone at the bar who must have noticed me looking for attention. During this wait we saw our waitress pour herself a beer and sat with the table mentioned above and ate french fries and hung out. We also watched at least 5 patrons go in and out of the kitchen with alcoholic beverages and most did not wear a mask while entering and exiting. A bit gross to say the least. Our new server, we noticed had been catering to the other two tables who also appeared to be friends and locals and when it appeared we looked a bit distressed brought out our food.My wife ordered a pumpkin and cheese ravioli with a pork ragu off the daily specials and I tried the bistro burger. My wifes pasta was both over and underdone and she found the pork in the ragu to be very chewy. My burger I found sloppily prepared and the flavors not balanced at all and was a mushy tart flavored mess. My fries were also very greasy and unappetizing. It again took almost 10 more minutes for any of the staff to come and check on us and ask if we needed anything. At this point we asked for the check twice. After an additional 10 minutes we got our check and paid in cash in order to make a quick exit. We were 100% courteous and did not act like entitled Ken and Karen from the city. We both come from service industry backgrounds and know when things are askew. We still tipped 20%, but will never go here and strongly advise folks to ignore the hype.TLDR, this is a local hangout that still does not have their act together and if the owner condones this behaviour this place will not last
The only good part of this restaurant was the server. We ate a local family who figured we would give this place a shot. 4 dishes were all incorrectly cooked. We made it very clear what temp the meats needed to be. Rare doesn’t = well done. Very disappointed and will never be back. Sad point is we would have loved to support them since they are local. Even after sending the rare meat back it came back under cooked again. My wife didn’t eat that night.
Ordered dinner tonight. Pan seared salmon perfect as usual, probably my favorite dish. Also ordered pork milainase. Excellent! Final dish was braised lamb shank Willington. Was disappointed that it wasnt Wellington or garlic mashed with mushrooms ect... as advertised and ordered. Was not told they didnt have the Wellington. Would have ordered another salmon if I knew. However was not disappointed with the biased lamb shank as served, though not what ordered, was fall off the bone tender and scrumptious! Still would have had the salmon if given the choice. Update : 11/21/20Ordered dinner again tonight. Picked up, bottom of bag soaked. Dinner fell through bottom of bag onto floor as soon as it was handed to me. Part of order survived. Asked for entire order to be redone, as it would take time to re-cook what fell. Obviously that didnt happen. Bistro burger was kept warm, not re-cooked. Soo soggy half went in the garbage. $16.00 burger! NOT HAPPY! Will give them another chance, but close to ending them as an option for dining. Lowered my rating from 5 to 3 tonight. Disappointed!
Love this place. Never had a bad meal there. Nice menu selection. Everything from pizza to Mac and cheese with pulled pork. Pasta is really good. Prices are VERY reasonable. They also have a summer BBQ and an Octoberfest in the back. Definitely worth stopping by during those events.
Use to like this place. We have been going there for Christmas Eve for the past 4 years. This will be our last year. We ordered out and it took me 3 trips back to get my order straight. After the second time they gave me a $25.00 gift card. I would of paid a extra $25.00 to have my Christmas Eve dinner. After paying $107 for 4 dinners and everyone eating at different times, I throw my steak out because running around it was cold and everyone else ate.
Well went to the restaurant during their October fest and the wife and I ordered the chicken Parmesan sandwich, eggplant Parmesan sandwich and order of wings for dinner to take home. Well the wings are dry not moist and also small. For $11 should be meaty and moist not small and dry. The chicken Parmesan seemed like it was more bread then chicken. Don’t think we will be back anytime soon. Makes you wonder if restaurant impossible was here to fix their issues it seems like they didn’t fix anything. Should have gone to Cugino’s instead.
This site is my favorite restaurant. Of all restaurants I know I favor it most. I never miss an opportunity to go to that place. when I feel like having a special lunchon, this is the place that comes immediately to my head. Great and food and a rich cuisine.helpful team, and nice mood. Not less important, the price is good. I praise this spot with pleasure.
Food was disappointing. Tried the crab stuffed sole and it smelled spoiled so we had to send it back. The waiter was patient and took the food back. We then ordered the pulled pork appetizer instead, very bland and dry. The only good thing was the beer, the French onion soup and the waiters patience.
Paella disaster. It did not taste at all how it should and they served it as a SOUP! At least be honest in serving non-paella soup. The staff couldnt even pronounce the name of the dish. I also felt like they were rushing me out. Every 10 seconds, someone interrupting my meal, 4 different people! They pestered me about whether I would order dessert when I want even halfway through my meal. Overall a very uncomfortable and awkward experience. In general, Italian restaurants should avoid selling Spanish dishes they cant even cook.
Small, cute, country feel kind of place. Great service, all the girls there are friendly and everyone helps out and checks on you. I had the pasta special which came with a salad.. and let me tell you I almost DIED it was so good!!! Very reasonable prices and I will recommend Carmines to my friends and family and will be back to see what else I can try!
Seen the Restaurant Impossible episode with Robert Irvine and was intrigued to check it out..Ate the Lamb shank entree and brussel sprouts appetizer, had a Great dinner with my Wife during Coronvirisus insanity.. Restaurant was clean accommodating and service was goodFood was excellent, must check it out!
Once you get food poisoning you never go back. Was always hit or miss type of place but to get so sick that it starts while you are still in the restaurant is bad. When i complained to the waitress about the manicotti tasting chemically, like windex she stated that other people had said the same thing recently... this was after somebody in my party ordered and ate the manicotti and the food sickness was not just a queasy stomach... it was full blown expeltion from both ends. They knew something was wrong and they kept serving bad food.
We waited 1.5 hrs for the worst food ever. A rare steak came out over well done, the Eggplant parm was dry, salty and stale. Our drinks were never refilled which sucks because the food was more than salty, it was inedible. My lips are burning. There is nothing.good here and we will not.return.
Had valentines dinner there, cute place, food was very good prices were reasonable, ok the restaurant, has since been redone, and changed the decor inside. And also changed the menu,,there is nothing for children, and not much to choose from as far as no sandwich meals,,no cold or hot sandwiches, n the prices were not that cheap

2021-12-21This is the kind of local restaurant we need to support. Rather than eating at a big chain, come here for a great meal!Cozy, tasty food, great service.Loved the stuffed pork.Only thing: Lights were too bright for me, but not a big deal.

2021-11-07Amazing find for us. The food was farm to table, locally sourced, and came out fresh and hot. Their menu selection accommodated our groups varied tastes. The wait staff was very helpful and prompt. We are looking forward to our next road trip just to make an excuse to come back to this place.

2022-06-05I havent been inside since the restaurant was on Restaurant Impossible. I loved the food before and love it more now. I had the stuffed chicken with roasted veggies and mashed potatoes. It was awesome! Melted in my mouth. The potatoes and veggies were cooked perfectly and the chicken was moist and tender! I only ate half because I wanted to enjoy it again the next day as well and it was just as good. As for the inside, it was very nice and seemed brighter than before just not sure about the long table in the middle of the room. We sat in the small room off the main dining area and was very nice and quiet. I would absolutely go back again and again!!

2022-03-06This is a cozy little restaurant with excellent food and the wait staff is extremely nice. The only downside was, our dinner order got miss placed and we wound up waiting over an hour to eat. Between arrival and departure we were there about two hours and thirty minutes. That includes waiting to be seated, appetizers and the dinner. It was a shame but again...they were very nice about it and even gave us a free order of baked, stuffed clams. We will go back, the food was very good and wed like to give them a chance to improve on the wait.

2022-02-12We were anxious to try this restaurant after seeing it on Restaurant Impossible. Unfortunately, anything that Robert Irvine taught them, they forgot. The staff was all over the place. They were either huddled by the bar chatting or talking with the patrons they knew personally. I ordered the tuna special that was to be prepared medium rare. It was so overcooked, it was inedible. I basically over paid for a plate of noodles. We ordered the chicken dumplings for an appetizer. Not bad, but it was the same sauce that came on my tuna. My fiancé ordered the stuffed chicken. He said it wasnt bad. The vegetables in both of our dishes were the best part. We will not be returning and I advise you to stay away also.

2022-05-07This is a weird review because I have yet to visit. However living 1847 miles away your restaurant is screaming and calling me.I see the passion in the dishes. I promise soon on my adventures with my new husband that I will there. Until then y’all keep going and I’ll see you soon. Yummy

2022-07-01We ordered a Caesar salad that came with two croutons which were about 2 inches wide. These croutons were so hard, almost like rocks. The BBQ basket was tasty.

2021-10-17Went for dinner tonight hoping the 3rd time would be the charm, however we left disappointed once again.Made reservations but was not told they had a large party there, knowing this would have swayed us not to go. We arrived and were placed at a table that was sticky. As we were seated the waitress advised it will be awhile due to the large party. After 10 minutes another waitress appeared and took our drink and food order, she was told we’d like the salad before our meals. About 10 minutes later our drinks (seltzer and watered down iced tea) appeared. 20 minutes later our salad, which had wilted soggy iceberg lettuce under the fresh kale and apples. minutes after the salad arrived our dinners did, we sent them back as we had just gotten the salad. Once we sent back the salad due to rotten iceberg lettuce they brought out our heat lamp dried dinners. Mine was the pumpkin ravioli special that had some sort of garnish on it that wound up burning under the hot hold lamps you would think a chef would notice and remove it and add new garnish but no out it came. My husband Octoberfest platter was just dried and overcooked. Sadly this place is in need of a competent food manager to run it, I’m truly surprised it is still open with how it is run.But talking of running please do it in the opposite direction of this place and to any other restaurant unless of course you are looking for less then mediocre quality food at high prices.
