😍😍😍 This is beyond perfection! I had the warm chocolate tart with the pink pepper corn ice cream. DELIGHTFULLY DELICIOUS! Also, I tried the Róse Sparkling drink with a blood orange ice cube. I throughly enjoyed everything! 🤤 it’s a great spot with a lovely vibe. The Doughyaki is a must try. ☺️
What a fun experience! For those unfamiliar, youll have to wait in line outside (inside seating is limited), but its worth it.When you get seated youll have a tasting menu of constantly changing, and elevated, desserts. Theyre small, so you will have room to try a bunch. It was a blast! We enjoyed every bite, loved the experience, and everyone there was very nice! Highly recommended!
I heard great things about this place but was disappointed to be honest, since I had so much expectation.I reserved for prix fixe course, great presentation but not great taste. Ordered the strawberry short cake and crepe cake, strawberry short cake was okay but personally think lady m crepe cake is far better. Everything else was just okay..
Staff were very nice, but the desserts were really mediocre for the price. Had the warm chocolate tart with peppercorn ice cream and pound cake and we’ve had MUCH better. Like the idea and creativity on the dessert but execution is C- for an NYC restaurant. “A” game was just not there when we visited. For better bang for your buck on quality AND quantity try Veniero’s on E.11 and 1st Ave or HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR ICE CREAM, Alphabet Scoop on E.11 and Ave B
We dropped by to pick up desserts on our way back and it didn’t take too long. They have both simple and unique desserts on the menu. I had their strawberry shortcake which was a big step up from the average strawberry shortcake, with diced strawberries and strawberry cream in between each layer. Definitely a treat and would love to go again to try their other desserts. Our take away bag came with cutlery and napkins as well.
It was good but for the price, it was a bit underwhelming.Food - 3/5Dessert are pricey for what you get. I ordered what came out to be 2 spoons of ice cream in a plastic cup with a shot of espresso for $11.Ambiance 5/5Both jndoor and outdoor dining available. Glass partition between tables indoor. A little small but cozyService 4/5I think waiter meant well but he could come off as a bit rude. The rest of the staff was really friendly. Everyone was wearing mask and following protocols
Dessert course for $19 and $9 for tea. $28 + tip for decent dessert. it is very tiny space so you might not have high-tea/afternoon tea type of luxurious time here. Many people are waiting while you are eating. You feel rushed. Also tea quality was disappointing.Presentation was great but tea quality was not so great. It’s very unfortunate. Hope staff learn how to brew better.Cheesecake was pretty good.
I visited ChikaLicious Dessert Dessert Bar on Sunday night with my daughter after having dinner around the corner at Panna II. We both wanted a little something sweet before heading back to our hotel. They were closing in about 15 minutes and said they had time to serve us. On the menu the prices were understood to be $11.00 so we ordered 2 desserts. When we got the bill the total was $55. for two desserts (about $67. With tip). I don’t care what the price is, as long as it is fair, but getting ripped off is a problem. The desserts were lacking in every was from bland to blander. I understand that ingredient costs are high. With that being said they should do their best to make something delicious than. I speak from having won baking championships in the past and personally do not recommend ChikaLicious.
This is such a wonderful place for a date night, girls night out or any special celebration. It is small but the tight space allows you a close up view as the chef assembles and plates each dish. There are two tables for small groups but the counter seats are the best in the house. The desserts were artfully presented. A definite must try.
Absolutely amazing experience. A little expensive for just desert, but well worth it. You don’t get to have black pepper sorbet with tomato jelly every day! The cheesecake was smooth and probably one of the best I’ve had. I also tried the chocolate tart (delicious!) and despite the location being small it was an enjoyable experience.
Love it! Chikalicious is indeed so delicious! The chef is so nice calm and great service! The stuff are lovely. And the desserts, ohh the desserts !I tried the white chocolate mousse with pineapples and was sooooooo good! I could eat lots more of this at one shot 😋😋.Also the premium latte is so smooth and good !I will be back for sure!
My friends and I came here for dessert after a nice lunch around the area. Small place but I really like how the master chef prepares her desserts. She pays attention to details and makes sure every one of her work stays consistent and beautiful. I would recommend anyone to definitely try it if they are in the area!
Stumbled upon this place and was pleasantly surprised by the whole experience! Loved every single bit of it! We really enjoyed sitting at the bar and seeing how our desserts were being prepared! Will definitely come back and would 100% recommend it to anyone with a sweet tooth!
This place has always been special! All the desserts are amazing and inventive. Recently my office ordered some of the bento boxes and everyone loved having the options and choices of items to choose between. As wonderful as it is to sit in and watch Chika make her creations during normal times the to go is perfect during covid when youre looking for something special and different.
This places is great. I came here for my birthday this past weekend. The host at the door was incredibly nice & offered some wine to us while we waited for a table. I got the cheesecake. It wasnt at all what I was expecting, but it was incredible. Very dense and unique. Its so fun to watch them plate your desserts because its definitely an art form that they take very seriously.
Went there for a date night. Personally, I do NOT have a sweet tooth and actually do not appreciate desserts, but this place surprised me!! The desserts were light, subtle, elegantly presented. We had no reservations and I guess we waited for about 15 minutes to get in, probably we got lucky considering it was a weekend! But it was well worth the wait
Tea is better than the dessert for me, the taste did not impressed me and even if you see the open kitchen, they are not making the dessert in front of you. They are just heating the cookie or taking the cheesecake out from the refrigerator. And it doesn’t taste like cheese at all. But for the very aromatic tea and the very nice vibe I am still giving it a 4 star. Also, they will let you wait outside until the seats are available cuz it is too compact inside the bar. So don’t go during their busy hours, i was freezing with my friends in the cold waiting for them to call us in.
Amazing desserts that are so very complex in its own way. They might seem pricy at $18 a dessert but lets face it, they make a three corse meal out desserts. They start with a super light sorbet and give you want you order and end it with 3 amazing petite desserts that include rolled rum, coconut marshmellow and chocolate short bread. The head chef Chika plates all these wonderful desserts in front of you! So you get to have a master class if you are an aspiring baker or even just a person who enjoys seeing! It is a super tiny place but Ive never seen this place host less than 5 people ! A definite must try place if you are around, specially if you are one to enjoy some complex flavors!!
The dessert course was fantastic, but service could be better. The reservation email said to not arrive later than 5 minutes after the reserved time, but no one ever greeted us until twenty minutes after. The chefs are lovely, but I think there’s not enough staff, which makes sense because the place is also super small. Maybe only good enough for a one time experience.
Great place to go to give your palette a whirl! You select a main dessert but it also comes with an amuse bouche to start and petit fours for after. Started off with coffee ice cream and star anise jelly - wow, strong flavours but worked well together. My cheesecake tasted a bit like a light yogurt - lovely for a hot day and a good sized portion it looked like, compared to the other desserts. My husband ordered the chocolate tart which was great! My only comment would be - make the main dessert slightly bigger! From what I could see a lot of them were petit four sized (except the cheesecake). Loved seeing the chef serve up right in front of you - I have learned a bit about plating up and making quenelles!
Absolutely stunning find, one of those only in New York places thats an absolute must-try. Chef Chika is highly skilled, but these desserts are extra special because of the chefs innovative skills. Our amuse-bouche was an anise sorbet paired with a coffee gel, a pairing I never would have put together but found absolutely delicious. I chose the warm chocolate tart, which came with a peppercorn sorbet--again, never would have thought to create this dish, but I found it stunning, with just the right amount of bite to counter the irresistible creaminess of the warmed chocolate. My boyfriend chose the melon sorbet duo in tequila cream sauce, which was so refreshing and the perfect summer dish. The petits-fours at the end were lovely as well. We both chose to pair with dessert wine, which I probably wouldnt do again as Im not a huge fan of dessert wine and found that the dishes were good enough on their own that the wine didnt add much. However, for those that enjoy dessert wine, its certainly worth the money. All in all, a fantastic experience.
I showed up wanting cheesecake, but I got a 3 course dessert. It was a pleasant surprise. The dessert is prepared in front of you if you’re seated at the bar. And it is delicious. I enjoyed trying different desserts and having the star of the night (what I went for) not disappoint. The place is small, not much room. You do have to wait to be seated before entering the restaurant.I did not expect the experience, but it was a good one. I would suggest making a stop here.
Where else can you go for dessert and get appetizer, main and dessert set course? This small but cozy place does exactly that. You are presented with menu to pick you main dessert dish (about $28) and youll be also given an appetizer and dessert. I love the idea of this. Also their cheesecake is awesome!
This place is a very creative approach to Japanese influenced desserts. The chef puts a lot of love into each dessert and everything is done in front of you which is a fun experience itself. The wait can be a bit depending on time of day and smaller size of location but the experience is worth it. There is really no wrong choice here.
Dessert: 3/5Service: 1/5The dinning time period was only 20 minutes but we were kept there for another 40 minutes cause the waiter forgot our check even thought I brought it up for THREE times! I really wanted to leave and lost all of my patience in the end.Btw it was Chief Chika who took our orders, poured water twice , and took away our plates after we finished . . . It was not crowded at all either . . .
This shop is an amazing experience. The desserts were so delicate and tasty without being too sweet. Each dish is so complex yet so simple, in the best way.But that’s not the best part... I got to sit at the bar and watch Chika meticulously craft each dessert that was being served in the shop that afternoon which made it even more special. Her staff was very friendly and attentive. I can’t wait to go back and bring all my friends.
I heard about this place for a few years now but always fall short on going here with every visit to NYC. I finally made it here this December. They open at 3pm, we got there at 3:30 and the place was almost completely packed. A party had to shift one seat over to accommodate the two of us. It was a Friday afternoon in the dead of winter; who knew a dessert bar was a place to flock to?! I guess well more than 10 years later, this place is still holding on to its allure. The verdict: the desserts are yummy. But the best part is watching Chika and her staff plate the desserts. The plating is clean but not as refined as those fancy restaurants. Then again, you are not paying fancy restaurants prices. Some may think they are pricy for what you get. For me, this is a dessert bar not a complete meal. $18 for an Amuse, choice of dessert, and petit fours is not outrageous.
Food: Matcha w/Red Bean & Nutty Professor ChurroCones + Toffee CakeSoft, chewy, flaky, sweet churrocone. The matcha tasted authentic and the red bean was great. The toffee cake was interesting. Make sure you eat it with the ice cream.Price: Expensive for dessertMenu: Really diverse and originalService: Cool staff and wait was moderate.Decor & Atmosphere: Tight and smallOverall: Good and its worth a another trip.
Was going through my list for my next trip to NYC and thought I left a review here. Since I didn’t, I would like to leave a review now.I booked a table through a call with someone from the team. And got an email says the time needs to be adjusted. I sent the email back confirmed it’s okay. We ended up running a little late, I tried to call in but no one answered. When we got there, we’ve been asked to sit outside, it was so hot so we said no, I told the team member we had a reservation and I’m sorry we were running a little late, Ive been trying to call. He was not nice and told me that they never answer the call… I’m just speechless, my suggest is ditch your phone then… it’s just seemed like they never even saved a table for us. finally, we got seated at a table right by the window in the narrow hallway where the sunlight hit us right on our face. I work at an interior studio, I’m sure it’s illegal to place a table at that spot. Anyways, we were not in the mood to eat anything since the light it’s literally spot on our faces, we ordered a slice of cake, the whole experience was horrible. I told the server our experience and how we thought it’s unfair and it’s was not nice the way we got treated. The guy who hosted us at the first place ended up coming to us and asked how we made the reservation at the first place and what was the name on the reservation. He then mentioned there are people leaving and we can get seated over there. I told him I’m not in the mood answering all those since I already told him at the first place…That host is giving me that type of vibe, like when you going to a popular restaurant, they see it as it’s an honor that you are offered to get hosted in that place…it’s not worth it at all, the cake is good, but it’s not anything special.Wanted to add this after seeing the response. They let me made a reservation at least a week before my trip to New York and the email was sent right after I ended the call with them. Just don’t let me make the reservation at the first place then… it’s not that difficult to admit your team made a mistake…
The best part about a Japanese take on desserts is that they somehow manage to present the core of a dessert while making it so much more delicate. There is nothing overpowering any one sensation so you can truly appreciate the ingredients that go into crafting each dessert.
This is my favorite dessert place in the entire world and I have lived in 4 different countries. Everything Chika and her amazing staff serve here is special. If its vanilla ice cream you can be sure it is The BEST vanilla ice cream. If its a doughnut you can be sure its The BEST doughnut. I dont live in nyc but I had to stop by during quarantine and I ordered as much as I could because I just missed it so much. Theyve made a special menu to accommodate eating it outside of the dessert bar while still making is special. True, Its not cheap, but if you watch the attention to details and love they put into everything they do.. well I just love them more and more every time I come. I dont really write reviews but this place is unique and beautiful. Thank you so much!
Chikalicious is my number one dessert spot in town. The owners wife (Chika) does not have a great attitude so I deducted one star. She can be entitled and off putting but since shes a chef at the dessert bar youre kind of forced to interact a bit. Besides that, the food is great and I love bringing my out of town family here.
Easy to see right off of 10th Street servicing the Lower East Side and the adjoining areas of Manhattan. Parking on the Street is available but it fills up fast especially at night and on the weekends. Clean facilities. No wheelchair accessible entrance. A true Artistic version of designer Desserts. A very small place so getting in is difficult. Always a long line, but if youre a Dessert fan, its a must try. Give it a try and you decide.
One of the best discoveries Ive made in NYC for really good Japanese desert bars. Interesting setup. Two locations one right across from the other. One is more formal date night, lounge type spot. The other is more laid back casual, light on seating and what appears to be a warehouse for making all the pastries... I really dig the lounge bar version if youre going on a date where youre trying to make a sophisticated impression on a first date. The best seat is around the well manicured bar where you can closely observe the creation of your deserts. The other spot is more casual, semi outdoor seating, like by a tree bench lol. But still super cool. However dont think for a second that the quality of the desert is any different. Quality is the same...Will always recommend this spot to folks to visit if their in or near the St Marks area.
This is definitely my favorite dessert place ever. Yes, its tiny. Yes, there is a line. Yes, its a bit pricey. But in the end, the desserts are so worth it. If youre going to cheat and go for dessert after dinner or to satisfy a craving, this is definitely the place to do it. ChikaLicious has such a good variety of desserts to satisfy any craving. Their Michelle Obama dessert with soft serve, hot fudge, caramel, and espresso is so good. Im also a huge fan of their strawberry shortcake. But to be honest, even though its the simplest thing, you just cant go wrong with their soft serve topped with hot fudge. Sometimes I even get a cookie with it and eat them together. So delicious.
It is right next to my apartment and I absolutely love their desserts. They have new items from time to time. The staple is their delicious cupcakes! They come out with new flavors all the time and the flavors are always intense and the cake is very moist.I have also tried their vanilla soft serve and it is a very generous scoop and very rich. If you like ice cream sandwich, they have a great one here too, although not as good as the truck, Coolhaus.
First, the desserts taste okay. Some bites like star-anise ice cream are interesting but the others need a step further. Their decorations have to be brushed up too. I sat at the bar and I saw many dishes of the same menu item looked so different. $16 prix fixe is just too expensive for the inconsistent quality.
They offer $16 pre fix menu that comes with two main desserts and one snack. Do not expect to be full out of this place, but try to enjoy as the chef makes the deserts in front of you. The reason I give it 3 stars is that, although I did enjoy the process of watching them make deserts, it took a long time for the desert to come out and the taste was really just average.
The coolest dessert place Ive ever been to. We had the Cheesecake and the panacotta. They were incredible. More than the amazing flavors was the experience. We were lucky to stumble on this place between lunch and dinner so it was very quiet. We sat by a customer who was a friend of Chika. We were told the line to get in would go down the block with the post-lunch and post-dinner crowds. You get a small bowl with vanilla sorbet as dessert appetizer. This is followed by the main course dessert you order, ending with a dessert plate of very light, amazing coconut marshmallows, lemon poppy seed shortbread and chocolate mousse on chocolate cookie. For our main course, we had cheesecake and the panacotta. The cheesecake was amazing. Very light and fluffy. Nothing like the dense, heavy cheesecake you are probably used to. The panacotta was very smooth and light. Everything was perfectly flavored and perfectly sweetened. No over powering sweetness.Well definitely be back.
Ive love Chikalicious since they opened. The staff are incredibly friendly and genuinely seem to Love working there. There are always smiles all around. Their desserts are always perfectly balanced, never too sweet or heavy. Even though there is often a line, they move through quickly without making you feel rushed.
This place is worth. I came with a friend and you can see them make dessert in front of you but they dont let you record. Dessert is small but price is good for the Prix Fixe. They got more dessert across the street too which is lowkey more worth but this place is cute if you tryna sit for a date.
Overpriced and smallest portions imaginable. We traveled to NYC this past weekend and were looking for the best dessert in NYC This place popped up and had great reviews. Not sure why, the food had almost no flavor and was incredibly overpriced and undersized. We paid $16/ person for on spoonful of sorbet and some pudding mixture and a tiny cookie. Definitely not worth the 45 minute wait outside and trip downtown. DO NOT GO HERE!!!
A friend brought me here about a year ago and it still sticks in my head as one of the most enjoyable dessert meals Ive had in a long time! This tiny dessert shop offers bar seating and a few small tables so expect a wait, especially during peak hours. I was able to dine with my friend at the dessert bar where you can overlook the amazing pastry chefs who create this ingenious plates. Not only do they make a variety of pallete pleasing tasty treats but they also feature cocktails on the menu that can be paired back and are just as sugary sweet and delightful as their counterparts! They have a delicious prix fixe dessert menu that boasts 3 scrumptious plates, ranging from homemade pastries, freshly made ice creams and other delectables. The perfect place to bring someone with a sweet tooth :)
Desserts are so cute! a must for Instagram! we ordered pretty much everything from the menu and my favorite was the bingsoo, its like shaved ice with sweet potato pure with crunchy nuts, love the different layers of texture. my friends favorite was the tiramisu, it was light and creamy and divine. we both though the sweet potato ice cream couldve been creamier. the latte wasnt warm enough tho, that was the only thing that we didnt like.
Absolutely incredible! Everything is superbly put together into a work of art by owner Chika. Desserts are delicate, nuanced and include complimentary tastes in a very satisfying way. The brown sugar pannacotta, cheese cake and the warm chocolate tart are just a must have.
This dessert bar on 10th street might be small, but the flavors they produce are huge. You will probably have to wait a while for a table if you dont get there super early, but once youre in and seated you get to enjoy a 3 course dessert adventure crafted by Chika, the chef behind the restaurant. If you like a drink with your sweets, they have wine pairings with each plate you can opt for.I always enjoy the chocolate tart, and she makes the best marshmallows I have ever had.
I recently visited over the weekend, and I definitely do not recommend as a dessert bar. There is very limited seating, we had to wait in line. The portions are unreasonably small for the price, and not delectable.Apart from that, me and whom i visited this location with had horrible nausea for the entire rest of the night, and into the next day after eating at this location.
Eclectic as they are sublime. Its a tiny place and great for the after-dinner dessert binge. It is bright, and it is largely decorated in white and white marble countertops abound. Youre paying for presentation. Youll get an experience worth writing about. While youre there, do the wine pairing if you choose to sit at the counter.
Food:3 course desserts! You pick an entree dessert and you also get an amuse item before and petite fours after.I believe the menus are seasonal.Ambiance:Very small, cozy atmosphereI like sitting at the bar - they compose all the dishes in front of you which is fun to watchWent: 2 times
3 course dessert ... who could ask for more? Amuse bouche, choice of dessert and the petite fours. A great experience. Plus you sit at the bar and watch them prepare the entire thing. There are also a few tables for twos. Not great for large groups. Always interesting flavor combinations such as chocolate brownie with peppercorn ice cream. Portions are very small, but just enough.
The place doesnt look like much from the outside but whats inside is well worth it. i tried 6 different flavored cupcakes and they were all great. the vanilla cake with strawberry frosting was my favorite. no artificial flavoring its actually made with berries and you can tell. i also tried the green apple sorbet and it was just as good. it even had bits of green apple in it. going back soon!
Beautiful, delicious desserts, perfect for any occasion. Do a full tasting when feeling extravagant, or head to the informal cafe across the street to pick up fluffy cupcakes to go, or perch on a tiny table to devour a chocolate covered eclair filled with soft serve ice cream. The apple sorbet is also one of the best things I have ever eaten.
Its the kind of place where the quality of the food is great, the portions not so much and the service.. well they told one couple to wait outside for a minute for a table and then proceeded to lock the door behind them. Keeping them outside during winter. The worst part, theyll do all this with a smile: not schadenfreude, just being polite but mean. Once you have a table, service is not too bad.
Not a fan of the loud rap music they were playing or the claustrophobic feeling of the place - its very small inside and if theres already people there, you will have to stand which is also in the way of the register. Dessert was average, not bad but nothing amazing either. Not a fan of this place.
Lets not confuse ChikaLicious Bar with ChikaLicious Club as they are located directly across the street from each other but yet, they are completely different. At ChikaLicious bar, there are a few tables and bar seating available. I was lucky enough to be seated at the bar and was therefore able to watch them put the desserts together right in front of me. You can tell that they do so with extreme concentration and delicacy. It is $16 for the pre-fix menu, which consists of amuse, choice of dessert and petit fours. The only item you choose on the pre-fix is the dessert option, which changes daily. I chose the Sweet corn crème brulee and my friend chose the cheesecake, which is one of their signature dishes. The desserts were both very unique and well made. It is on the fancier side and a bit pricy as well, so I do recommend saving this place for a special occasion although you cant make a reservation ahead of time so there is usually a wait!
I came here once with my friend just for a simple snack while passing by. The place is small, but packed with an irresistible sweet smell of delicious cupcakes. I had the banana cupcake and everything was banana flavored. The cupcake itself is made with banana, like a banana-cake type, with a banana-flavored frosting. You walk in here and you see the kitchen right behind the counter with all the pots and pans in the background, so maybe if you are lucky, you can see them make some cupcakes. There are many choices of cupcakes to choose from, but a regular-sized cupcake here can cost you close to five bucks, so that I think is not worth it. I can probably make the same cupcake for less that amount, but I heard a lot of good comments and reviews about this place, so my friend and I came here to try, actually, she was the one who recommended to me. The next time you craving something sweet, you can try a delicious cupcake from chikalicious.
As always Chikalicious is a pleasure. Its a dessert bar, where you have sweet appetizer, a dessert and petit fours to finish. We had the cheese cake and creme brule, both where excellent. We had hot chocolate to drink, was a bit disappointed but it was far from bad. The plates and cups they use are beautiful.I love sitting on the bar and watch the cook make the dishes. I also highly recommend to take the wine pairing. It make the whole expirience so much better.
YUMMMMMMMM!!!This was a totally cute place that a friend recommended to me and Im glad he did. We lucked out and were served by Chika herself. I ordered the crustless cheesecake, which is what shes known for, and was a total treat. A friend of mine ordered the almond ice cream and let me have a taste; it was absolutely delicious and Id personally recommend that to anyone if its still on the menu. The price was alright, but certainly a little more expensive that I would have liked to pay just for dessert, but the experience was good.NOTE: Theres a take out just across the street, but if its your first time, then make sure you sit at the bar. If youre lucky, Chika will be there and youll be able to watch her prepare your dessert right before your eyes! ENJOY! :D
A pre fixe dessert only menu was intimidating to me at first, but the delicacy and care with which your experience is plated masterfully in front of you betrays the skillful and measured palate decisions that go into your dessert. Bring a date to impress, or an abiding curiosity in spectacular dining on the sweet side.
Been here a couple times and I love sitting at the bar. You get to see their work and their meticulousness in plating. Service is slow because they assemble each dessert to order. Just be patient and youll have a great time.Ive tried their:Strawberry Parfait in Jasmine Soup with Lace Tuile and Duo of Tapioca PearlsMango-Pineapple Tartare with Roasted Banana Ice Cream and Black Pepper WaferBrown Sugar Panna Cotta with Granny Smith Apple Sorbet and Poppy Seed PuffVanilla Sorbet on Rhubarb Brulee with Rhubarb Sabayon and Frosted PistachioLemongrass Panna Cotta with Basil Sorbet and Mango Salad in Sweet Basil SeedKiwi marinated in Lavender with Coconut SorbetRoasted Banana Ice Cream with Expresso Granita and Almond CakeWarm Chocolate TartAccording to the chef, they do change their menu daily but not the entire menu. Ive noticed the Warm Chocolate Tart on their multiple times. The Rhubarb is only served 3 weeks out of the year according to her.All their desserts are good. Small portion in relation to the cost. Its an excellent dining experience.Ill just comment a little on the things Ive tried. Never thought that lemongrass would have a roll in dessert, but she definitely made it work and I loved the dish. My 2 most favorite dishes are the Mango-Pineapple tartare and Lemongrass Panna Cotta. I would definitely recommend this place and would come back again and again. All her banana dishes are excellent. The rhubarb was alright. It does take a lot of prep work for how they want the rhubarb to be but I think its still lacking. They do a good job in toning down the sourness but then it lacks flavor and tastes kind of bland. The ingredient itself could not stand on its own in their dishes. They should blend it more into the dessert instead of serving it as an entire piece. The lavender dish has tons of flavor and you can taste the lavender, I thought it was going to be very mild, most places are. Same is true for the jasmine.Overall, go and enjoy!
Food (4/5) Decor (3/5) Service (4/5) Value (3/5)Chikalicious is a quaint little dessert shop that serves wonderful desserts. The service is $16 for a prix fixe of an amuse, one dessert of choice, and petit fours. My amuse featured a coffee infused whipped cream, vanilla agar agar, and a fruit base. The coffee whipped cream was really surprising. The coffee flavor was pleasantly strong and worked nicely with the rest of the course. It was a surprising and light way to start the service. For my main course, i had a white chocolate mousse with kiwi-lavender granita and grapefruit. I was initially a little concerned the white chocolate mousse would be too sweet as are many things with white chocolate, but it was just right and paired well with the kiwi granita and the grapefruit. There were also some crunchy noodle like things in the middle that added a nice textural element. Finally the petit fours were probably the low point of the service as I didnt find the marshmallow, shortbread cookie, or truffle to be that special.Aside from the food itself, I enjoyed the experience and given the chance, you should try to sit at the bar where you can watch Chika and the other chefs prepare your food. From a value standpoint, the quantities are fairly small, but meticulously prepared and at least similar in value to desserts at large name restaurants. If you are looking for better value, the ChikaLicious Dessert Club across the street has fantastic desserts as well. And while I may personally find myself at the Dessert Club more frequently, I will definitely be back to the Dessert Bar when I want a more sophisticated/holistic dessert experience.
Dont come here to fill your stomachs. Come here to indulge your taste buds. The desserts look seasonal and likely will change with the season now that its autumn. Your order is like the main, whereby you will get some gelato as the appetizer and some bite-sized cakes as dessert for your dessert.
4.5 stars.Hhhhmmmmm....How can I put this? How did such a Gem find its way into the city? This is a place where youd take your date on a cool Friday night, this is a place that might lock in a Good-Night Kiss on the lips, provided you played your cards right up to that point. But the reason it doesnt belong in the city is that it has a very homegrown feel to it, which is not to stay that it doesnt belong here, but there are the soft touches that separates this place from other establishments in the area. For one thing, theres a screen door in addition to a regular double set of doors. Thats something I would expect from a small shop in the cleaner part of Chinatown. The food is prepared right in front of you like a hibachi BBQ joint. The combinations of flavors are distinct yet they smoothly flow together like mixing orange and lemon flavored Kool-Aid.The service is excellent. Theyre classy and polite and friendly. It really doesnt get any better than this.
This small place serves some delicious, delicate, pretty dessert. You can sit at the bar or the two tables. The menu is prix-fixed which starts with an amuse bouche, choice of dessert and the petit fours which emphasis on petit.Everything was very nice. It is a good date spot for those girls who are watching their waste line and guys who want to impress the girl on his sweet side.
Yes, its precious and a bit serious, but it works! it is lovely to approach little dessert tastes with such reverence, and the price is justified not only by whats on the plate but by the entertainment value. take a walk after your main course and stop in for a dessert tasting. but be careful - it is small and crowded, so there will be a line
I guess it depends on what kind of dessert person you are. Are you A.) the type of person who likes novel food concepts and are willing to spend for the unique and avant-garde or B.) the type of person who wants a simple, soul-comforting dessert without the pretension?I used to think I was more in the A camp until I went here and realized I wasnt. Lets not dwell on the price because Im willing to spend a lot of money to satisfy my sweet tooth, but when I spend more money on dessert than I do for dinner, I expect that dessert to make my heart very warm and fuzzy. Are these signs of an eating disorder? Who can say. Anyways, this dessert instead, served in its sterile white environment, did nothing for my heart. It left it as frigid cold as that winter night when my friends and I ventured over. I say give me a warm, soft cookie and a glass of milk any night!I was going to give it 2.5 stars because I felt like my bias against hyped up New York restaurants was unfair in the case of ChikaLicious Dessert Bar and that many people who enjoy haute, trendy cuisine would love this place; however, I am taking it down to a flat 2 stars because I saw them taking down my one of my friends order (he ordered the exact same thing I did), yet they never brought him his dessert. He didnt say anything because he was afraid with the speed service was going that night, that he would hold us up an additional 30 minutes. All in all, its $16 for 3 small courses of inventive desserts made with surprising flavor combinations. You may have to wait in a line to get in and you may have your order forgotten.
Killer sweet spot dessert spot ONLY if u dont plan to sit down. Sitting is a diaster packed within a narrow storefront. However, desserts are crazy sweet, delicious w dousant, chorro, cake, green tea like concoctions. Big points for a date night to impress your darling.
Sitting at the bar is the best bet so you can see them hand make your desert, right down to the crushed ice. Friendly service, fast and very professional performer of this food art show night after night. Good place to bring people from out of town, especially if by out of towners we mean people from Japan.
Had been planning our visit here and we were so excited however when we were finally able to get there, the door was closed and locked on us, during business hours. They said nothing and a sign was put in the window “we will be with you shortly” nothing else. I get that it’s small and customized but any restaurant would at least greet you and let you know what the wait was. They literally closed the door in our face. Rude and unexpected. Would love to try it but won’t patronize such a rude establishment.
I can say desserts there are tasty but somehow I cant say its best.I mean we can find many spots like this place but dont know why this place is too popular and crowded.I feel like this place is overrated and dont know why people wait on line for a long time like 30 minutes.
Chikalicious is where you go to impress your date or guests and have a dessert experience like no other! The line is long at night but if you arrive when they open or on off peak hours, you can get the seat at the bar and watch the chefs in action. This is picture worthy so bring your DSLRs.
Its ok, had a churro cone. Nothing special, churro was ok and ice cream was ok. Its different but honestly was not worth the wait for me. I rather get an ice cream with a churro on the side, less sloppy. If the churro and ice cream was phenomenal, than I would have rated 5 stars
We walked all the way to Chickalicious for a churro ice cream cone but this address doesn’t have them. They sent us to 131 Avenue A, so we walked there and guess what??? It’s an apartment building. There were other people there looking for churro cones too. We gave up. I am so done with this place.
From fine dine type desserts to cupcakes - Chikalicious is the answer to your Sugarholic! The perfect desserts come from this tiny East Villagae store with two venues. One is a sit-down dessert area complete with service and the other across the street on the south side of 10th Street is the little kiosk for very informal take out or self serve.
If you like speculoos (aka cookie butter) youre going to love their Bun Chika Bun BunTastes like a warm sugary bun made from speculoos. Its kinda a big deal around here. Their fake cronuts are just decent. Probably a good knockoff in a different city. But here in NYC its just eh. But go for the Bun. And the slew of other desserts that do change king of frequently.

2022-04-24This is a very unique spot, a dessert tasting $25 a person with your choice of dessert. Both my bf and I choose different dessert but we really wanted to try the omelet with truffle butter. All three desserts were absolutely delicious with such unique flavors, textures and such careful preparation. We sat at the bar and watched them prepare everything, it was such a wonderful experience, definitely worth waiting in line!

2022-07-16Absolutely amazing stuff!Go to this cafe if you want to experience desserts done to the highest level and quality, small portions but really great mix of flavours! I tried their tasting menu and some takeaway orders and everything is so interesting and new! My personal highlight from my NY visit.Dont go there if you want to just eat dessert or you expect a filling one, its an experience meant to make you try a new thing.

2022-07-11A must try unique dessert experience.I chose the $25 per person option and you get 3 small portions that equal to a full serving. If you want to add to the experience, you can pair wine with the dessert (give it a try...it was delicious). If you sit at the bar, youll be able to watch the preparation of each dish. I suggest making a reservation (Thurs-Sun) during their allowed times if you dont want to wait. The day I went, walk-ins were seated immediately, but I know this place has long lines, at times. If you have questions, just ask away and someone will answer you! I came here for my birthday and they made me feel truly special. The service here is exceptional and I will definitely be back!

2022-06-20Great service and nice view for the dessert bar. However, for the price and expectations for the name, I was a little bit underwhelmed with the dessert.Perhaps if there are some conversation with customers about concept/inspiration would help connecting us more together with the dessert, but I left without having a significant memory of dishes which I was a little bit disappointed about.Dont get me wrong, I still think this is a great place to spend a date with, but just hope there will have a lite improvement in the future for me the enjoy this dessert bar a little more.

2022-06-21It was a unique experience. The staff is friendly and kind. The music is nice and everything we have tasted was extraordinary and delicious. 25 dollars per person if you want to have the dessert menu. Which is not particularly affordable but it was an experience. I like the fact that portions are small and enough since it is not likely to see a dessert not oversized and full of sugar in the US.

2022-04-10This place is not just for the ones with sweet tooth, this is an experience you wont forget. 3 courses of dessert, all prepared with immaculate attention, taste combination, love and care. Menu changes every week. There are to go options as well, but I suggest you take a seat, and experience the ritual. One to be remembered 💫

2022-02-08Desserts time!Highlights of the menu:1. Banana pie cream puffThis place is very renown for its desserts that I had a chance to try. And it’s actually goood! The banana flavor in the soft cold cream with the lightly crunchy choux is a bomb!! The place offers seats for afternoon tea with a set menu of pastries and teas. This is a small cute store that suitable to hang on a chill day.I went to Chikalicious just for the sweet so I had it to go. Seating is complimentary with tea sets, otherwise there is a small charge for seating. This can be a little downturn as some guests want to sit down for pastries and drink not tea time. Tea sets in here is a little high priced, I would expect the good quality on the next time I visit the store.

Tea and specialty drinks served and hosted by professional friendly people. Had a great time here and the atmosphere and effort put forward by the team here is what we all need and appreciate. 2021-12-05I did enjoy the dessert I had here. Tasted great but $25 plus the cost of drink for the tiny dessert I got may not be enough. I can see myself coming here only on a blue moon. The bakers were nice and served us our desserts. I just can’t say I’d be a repeat customer.
