I usually don’t write negative review, but I gotta warn you about this place. I’ve been this place several times but every time they disappoint me more and more. They served SPOILED FOODS and no apologies were made at all. There were 4 and 5 years old kids consumed and when the mom complained about the issue, the owner? from the restaurant kicked them out by speaking out loud complaining in front of other customers. This made me insanely sick of this place. Don’t waste your time and money in here, go somewhere else where you can truly enjoy QUALITY korean foods (There are tons near by 5-10 mins).
This place is a nice Korean spot. I have not tried the KBBQ, so I cannot comment on that, but the stews and banchan are very good. The portion is filling and they know how to make you full, but not the bad kind of full. Service was pretty good, with friendly servers and they were efficient with bringing out food quickly. The outdoor dining setting was also a plus, since it was themely-decorated, well-lit, and had multiple heaters. I cant think of a complaint so I wont force one in. Good spot !
Great place. The industrial decor is really cool. Food is great. The steak aged well and squid stir fry the best Ive ever had.Prices are reasonable.Reading the reviews you would think that having Korean people working in a Korean restaurant is somehow a problem.Yes some of the staff may not speak English which adds to the atmosphere but most of them do. People who complain about what language the staff speaks should concider McDonalds.
Came here to celebrate a family members birthday. Service was top notch, food was fantastic and clean tasting, and the wait for food was not long. They also cook the bbq for you (as most places do these days). Its a bit pricey, but I think its worth a visit for an occasion.
Went in for dinner on Friday. Surprisingly, not too many people when we arrived, but when we left around 8, there was a line. For 3 people, we ordered two orders of the short rib and a thick cut pork belly. We were told by our waiter, who did come off a little aggressive, we wouldn’t get our meat grilled at the table if we didn’t order at least two orders of the premium meats and or short ribs (our initial order was just one short rib and pork belly). Meat quality was good, but a bit overpriced. I would come back, but there are other amazing Korean bbq places in the area with the same quality, but reasonable price. Server was also very keen to see how much we tipped her even before we left.
Chilsung Garden blew my mind. The service at this spot was the best we have ever had at a KBBQ place. Sure, at all places they make sure you dont burn the meat, but here? my god they were so attentive, always smiling, always bringing water and other drinks, always replenishing the Banchan, and the wait for a table was not long at all!And the food? I mean its KBBQ, how can you go wrong?Go beef when youre here by the way. Youll love it. And dont forget to order a side of rice!!
Was excited to see that this place opened in the neighborhood and was anticipating trying it, but I wont EVER eat there or even suggest for my group of friends to try it after every day that I pass by there, I see this right outside the rear entrance from the parking lot. New restaurant and they dont care enough to control and tidy up th garbage. Shows a lot about the management. If this is th garbage, imagine how the kitchen looks in the basement. They can afford to pay for parking attendants to look prestigious, but are too cheap to get dumpsters. Wait until you visit in person and see how pleasant all this garbage smells. Im surprised how the health department and landlord has not made an issue of this yet!
Indoors is pretty big compared to how it looks on the outside.Food is also very good as well. A lot of side dishes, 1 soup and 1 egg steam dish. Price is reasonable in my opinion and tastes good. Ate almost everything that was there. You can also ask for refills on the side dishes which is what we did.
I really like this place, for big parties. This is my second time visiting and we typically order a special for 4 to 6 people. The Korean BBQ types of meat are high-quality and very buttery. Highly recommend, they also have plenty of sides that are traditionally Korean salads such as kimchi potato salad and you can ask for refills on all of them is all included with the bill. I do love the aesthetic as well as the quality of meat. Great for birthday parties or celebrations. Definitely a higher end Korean barbecue than I am used to. But excellent and price is reasonable. They do have restrooms here as well and require facemasks upon entrance
So very good they have their own dry aging room its amazing quality beef. Also the side dishes are all so good. Perfect balance of flavors, not overly salty. The best part though of course if the raw quality of the meats. Lastly the prices are more reasonable than Central flushing or Manhattan for sure. But no trade off on quality.
Always go there for their great service. However, the last visit was so terrible. I did a take out to share with family for Thanksgiving meal. The food that I order was terrible. The monk fish dish had so little monk fish but plenty of soy bean sprouts. Pay $65 for mostly soy bean sprouts. Like ordering a expensive steak, without having steak, but only the vegs.
Great food and dining experience! I must admit the portions are quite small but, they are tasty. Staff are also very accommodating. My only downfall was that our table ordered sushi and the waitress forgot about it. By the time we reminded her the sushi bar was closed, she also wasn’t putting out enough table settings or bringing out enough glasses. But, still 4 stars for the overall experience.
Came for lunch and waited to be seated and they seated 7 people that came after us, instead of a table for 2 which is what I was waiting on, because they were Korean without any reservation, if you’re not korean don’t bother they’ll seat you last. Very prejudice. I am West Indian & I feel very discriminated. I seen an abundance of seats available. Hostess ignored us and completely spoke to everyone that came in after us because of them being Korean. After seating everyone that came in after us the hostess told us we have to wait 30-45 minutes. June 24th at 1:48pm
Front and back outdoor dining are available. Spacious setup with beautiful lights.Despite not having a grill on the table, the food still came out amazing. They have two huge grills on the side that still provided that bbq flavor/taste.Exceptional service with great ambience, will definitely come back!
I am very very disappointed about their food and service. Our entire office ordered lunch and all of us were shocked about their food. It seems their side dish was made for not human.Their stew were so thin. They didnt simmer it enough.I rather go to BIWON or SANSUGABSAN.Also there were 4 bags to bring to my car. No one helped me to bring the bags to my car eventhough I asked. Not even help to open door.Terrible service.
I celebrated my graduation this evening in this fine place. Well it was a fine evening and the restaurant was undoubtedly one of the reasons for this happy celebration. The crew participated in a gorgeous manner, the food was very good and my buddies were very cheerful. We shall surely return for more events. Thank you very much.
I celebrated my PhD earlier this evening in this gorgeous place. happy to tell that we passed a outstanding evening and the venue was no doubt the reason for the happy celebration. The stuff participated in a graceful manner, the cooking was delicious and my buddies were so happy. We shall no dout visit again for more celebrations. thanks very much.
I think their price is just at the right place. I had both bbq and seafood, the foods tasted right between okay and good. But was definitely not great. Their wait staffs did a worthy job. I paid for their services not for their foods. Since its a restaurant, I enjoyed their services but I wouldnt come again for food.
This place is my preferable restaurant. Of all restaurants I know I like it most. I never miss an opportunity to go to visit this restaurant. Whenever I feel like having a good lunchon, this restaurant comes first to my mind. very good and many types of food and a large list of dishes.great crew, and great atmosphere. Also, the bill is modest. I tell about this restaurant with no hesitation.
Service was great but food was okay for me. I had Cornish chicken soup and it had been frozen and reheated. The rice was uneditable, chestnuts was dry, some of garlic was cold. Pretty awful. We also had scallion seafood pancake. I liked how they cooked but there were barely any seafood. My friends had beef stew and bibim bob and they liked theirs. If you go, dont order Cornish chicken soup.
The food was ok but the customer service was HORRIBLE. My friends and I wanted to try Korean BBQ for the first time and none of the staff could walk us through the menu. We were confused on what to order. The staff were impatient and rude. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant.
I have a serious issue with their stated or 7 stars food and services. Their service is not even 7 star worth. Anytime we ask for service like water or extra order of food. It takes 4 to 5 times of reminder, up to the point where its frushtrating to continue to ask for it. When they order additional item there is no confirmation of what the item is from the menu and they wont take back cauae they made a mistake. Make sure you triple check your order before ordering more. Better yet make sure you got someone with spice on your party to fight back.Cause there was no notice of cannot take back orders nor was there verbal notice.Very very disappointed of the entire experience.
Extremely disappointing. This was my 3rd visit because I honestly loved the experience for first two visits despite the high prices they ask for the foods. It was my birthday weekend, and my parents bought the dinner for me and my wife. And I ordered two marinated rib dishes for us to eat, which I assumed it was plenty because it was 39.99 per dish. But the waitress gave a scoff and looked down at us asking just two? Really? And at first, I didnt want to let it get to me.Also spicy beef stew I ordered was extremely spicy, which was fine. But it was basically Yook Gae Jang when I ordered something else. That was disappointing. When I got the bbq meat, the dish had one bone rib, with meats and ONE mushroom slice. For 39.99. For ONE mushroom slice and one line of beef. Not to mention, they took the bone without telling us or anything. So my mom and I asked the waitress to give the bone back because we want to eat the peel that rolls off the bone, and take the bone with us for stew. I mean, we paid 80 dollars for the two dishes that seemed so little. So we should have our right to keep the bones for ourselves. The waitress and manager kept telling us that they were cooking in the back for the bone for us, which we never got them. Then waitress said they cant give the bones to us because chef used them for something else.Wait, why would you use customers food to cook other dishes for others????Also Monkfish dish was expensive, and it tasted like fishes were directly frozen and microwaved afterwards because it tasted quite dry. Not to mention, there were so many hairs caught in between.Took forever to get more waters and a can of soda. Then also told us that we had to pay high tips because its their weekend policy. Why should we pay tips for getting half the customer service and foods? This was my 3rd and last. And you know what they say about third time is the charm.
I went to this restaurant with my parents because they wanted cold noodle and i wanted Korean barbecue. This place used to be a McDonalds ever since I was a kid so I was really surprised at how they renovated the place. They really stripped it down! The decor is a steam punk theme which I love. It looked awesome and fit really well with the food. The side dishes are amazing and the actual food that we ordered was even more so. Usually the side dishes suck especially since Korean food is getting popular but these were so good that I almost filled up on those alone.I definitely recommending coming here with anyone. You can come here with family, friends, and even date.
We love to go out. Yesterday we came to this superb place which friends told us about. We spent a lovely evening there with very good cooking and an experienced team and a great cuisine. We added this restaurant in our list and we will no doubt go again soon. We highly recommend.
5 star review. No not deserve. Rush service. Unprofessional service. Too small amount. You need double size BBQ for your stomach. No good ventilation. Back home. You might smell of garlic all of your body. But. Clean big space. People who serve they are nice person. BBQ itself taste good.1.dont rush2.little more be professional to operateGo other and study more3.more ventilation4.make little more size. That is too small peace.I will be back later
Good in terms of traditional Korean food. The BBQ is the best part, and the only thing that keeps me from putting a 2 star review. The other soup dishes are okay, because as much as they dont taste nearly as good as other Korean places, it gives the food a homemade feeling.
After a lot of the KBBQ places have gone under in flushing (such as Baekjong and Butchers Cut)... I found out about this place... though it is a quite a ways from the heart of korean section of flushing (i.e., above 154th street and northern) I believe it to be the most consistent in food and service. Additionally, they have nice sets that feed up to 6 people which includes the KBBQ along with some sushi/sashimi... definitely worth a try!
RatingService: lacking, had to repeat requests more than 3 time. Busy so meat ended up burnt.Food quantity & quality: Weak, lacking side dishes compared to Biwon. Waitress kept on rushing undercooked bbq.Wait time: 5 min, didn’t wait long. Check came out faster than the extra rice request.Bill: tip should be x15%, 18%, 20% of the subtotal. Not the total amount which includes the tax.
This is a Korean BBQ restaurant but I never actually tried BBQ. I always went for lunch. My favorite lunch menu is a soup(beef with dried cabage soup) and the Tufu soup with grillled fish was excellent. Price and the quality of the foods are reasonable. However, the Quality of the food is depending on the menu. When I ordered octopus fried rice, the octopus was overcooked so it was too chewy to eat. BBQ and dinner menu seemed over priced but Ill have to try to know if it would be worth it. Also avoid dinner time since its packed and you have to wait a while to get a table.
High quality korean bbq and korean food. We come here frequently for family gatherings as theres plenty of seating for large parties and the kalbi is always top notch. Would definitely keep coming back. I would call to make a reservation for large groups so they can accommodate your party accordingly.
Im giving 2 stars because Im disappointed with the soup(hejangguk) I got. It had like 80% cabbage, 20%meat and a little bit of soup. Same with my wifes order (galbi box), it had a huge bone inspite of the description on the menu without bone. Its so different from when I was in korea. I want korean restaurants here to be more generous with the meat portion considering the price they charge. It will not hurt throwing 2 or 3 extra slices of meat. Thats how you make costumers happy. Sorry guys
This was my first Korean bbq and I love it !!! At first look Chilsung Garden looks like a small restaurant but inside its really big. The food is amazing. I recommend to go with a group of friends to share the bbq.It suppose that the bbq is for 4 people but its for more. So dont make the mistake to order more than the bbq. We were 8 the first time at Chisung Garden and we couldnt finish. All the waiters here are very kind and patient. They tell you how to eat the bbq and help you to cook the meat. Great service !!!I really recommend this place if you didnt taste yet Korean cuisine, cause the food experience there is delicious. The only thing thing you have to care about are the prices. Im not going to lie food is expensive but if you are open to pay the price for this culinary experience, then do it. You will not regret it.
Today is my second time coming here, the first time was great. But today, after eating the meal, My friends and I a total of four people all got diarrhea for so many time after eating at the restaurant and we just went home and we didn’t eat or drink anything after then.
Less variety on the banchans but their focus lies on their meat. Their meat quality is really great. They even have dryaged beef. This place will get you the finest quality MEAT in bayside- but not the finest kbbq experience. I feel like the place lacks banchan to make your ssam unique.
This is an korean restaurant that serves seafood ,BBQ, and other dishes. As for seafood, you can have sashimi- raw fish, sushi, seafood soup, and etc. For BBQ, the servers cook on the next table and serve them in plates on your table, which taste really soft to chew. I think they either use good meat or marinate it well. I had korean pancake, sashimi, crab spicy soup, steamed pork belly, and BBQ with my group.
I may have found my new favorite KBBQ spot.First off, I really enjoy the industrial butcher meat house look of the restaurant. Second, the meats on display behind the glass let’s you know where it all comes from! And finally the tastes of the meat is absolutely perfect.I ordered both types of galbi, I personally enjoy the marinated one more but the “non marinated” one has more of the traditional grilled flavor. Nonetheless both were good, so good I ate 3 whole orders myself... I had galbi scented sweats at the gym the next day so it was enjoyed twice you could say. Also the ban chan here is quite tasty. The kimchi is spicier then most korean bbq places and they serve a scallion kimchi(my new favorite). Pickled onions, pickled burdock root, and onion/scallion gochujang salad for the meat. It was all good.Last but not least, I applaud the efforts here for the birthday celebrations. They will roll your cake out on a cart, give you a little birthday hat and sing for you. Embarrassing? Yes. Unforgettable? Definitely. Would we change anything? Not at all.
Chilsung Garden has been a recent Korean restaurant my family, friends, and I have been going to frequently.Food: This place is undoubtedly one of the better places in Bayside/Springfield area for Korean BBQ (i.e., marinated prime ribs, pork cuts). The side dishes are delicious and plentiful. If you request little sides (i.e., miso soup, more kimchi, etc.), whether they were part of the original spread or not, its brought over for no extra charge. Food always tastes fresh. Chilsung Garden also boasts a wider variety of alcohol, including a good selection of wine.Service: Like most other Korean restaurants, the service is usually attentive and polite. At times, they can be friendly.Environment: Like most other Korean restaurants, the interior design is decked out in lots of wood, although the wood and overall design is on the higher end. There is lots of space between tables, which is a major plus because many other Korean restaurants have people sitting uncomfortably close to maximize profit. Chilsung Garden is large, so comfort is not sacrificed.Parking is free in the lot, but this area attracts many visitors (lots of different stores and restaurants here) and the parking can be sparse. The parking spaces are tight, so be wary for potential nicks and bumps by other inattentive drivers. Street parking is usually sparse as well and you have to pay depending on the time.If taking the public transportation, there are bus stops right in front.

2022-05-04Havent been back since pre-covid. Not sure what happened, but the service was not great. I felt like my family was being ambushed! Within 5 minutes of sitting and barely looking through the menu, atleast 4 waitresses asked if we were ready. Each time they came up, we said we needed more time and they didnt listen. As food was coming out, they kept pushing out so much stuff at once. I felt like I couldnt keep up! I just wished they slowed down a little. My family and I finished food in an hour. Usually dinners last longer than that. I felt like they were just trying to get customers in and out ASAP. Other than the service, the food was still good; a little expensive, but good. If youre in need of a quick paced restaurant with decent food, I guess this spot is for you.

2021-07-21A very large selection on their menu! Not only do they offer Korean barbecue, but sushi as well. The combo platter that we ordered is supposedly their most expensive - 4 different kinds of meat, a sushi platter, a bottle of red wine, a bottle of sparkling water, and soup. I don’t believe I left anything out. The food was delicious. The meat is cooked medium well and is very flavorful. The soup was delicious as well. Quite sweet, which I did not expect since we requested for the soup to be mildly spicy. We received a scallion pancake for free. The pancake was thick and went quite well with the soup if paired together. The service was phenomenal although they were short staffed. Our waitress went above and beyond for our table. She even cut up the meat in bite-size portions for my children, and she set it aside for me. My advice is if you’re going to order combo platters, I would probably skimp out on those small dishes (I forget the proper name for them) because it was a lot of food and for a party of 7, we were sadly unable to finish our food. I would most definitely come here again to celebrate a birthday, or with a large group if you don’t want the food to go to waste.

2022-03-03Not sure why people pay so much money to eat here. over expectations, over priced. its just typical Korean place, just looks fancy to me nothing more. Service got worse too. I remember they were used to be good but quality really went down IMO. I do my own dry aging steaks and I cook, I know my meat.

2022-04-22Great Galbi and great service. Im not knowledgeable enough about Korean food or culture to give a proper evaluation. I can say that I liked it. Was a little disappointed that we werent able to get sushi on our visit because the sushi Chefs take a break at a certain time of day. I understand that, but we were not the only table sitting down to eat. There were at least four other tables near us and I assume they couldnt get sushi either. Maybe the sushi Chef needs to be on duty if guests arrive and take a break when nobody is in the dining room?

2022-02-09I highly recommend this place I’ve gone there for the past few times, since my school is close by. The food is amazing not to mention the staff are very sweet and on top of their game. So far I have no complaints and highly recommend it for anyone who’s looking for a wide range of Korean food!!!!

2022-03-12Quality is down. Price went up. Seafood jeon gol is $60 and all the seafood is stale and dried up. Shrimp is so old and dried meat has already shrunken so much from the shell. This has been my go to place. Along with short ribs, seafood stew and braised seafood were pretty good too. But if they cannot control the basic ingredients on Friday night, management and kitchen staffs need serious work.I really want to see this place turn around and focus on fundamentals, fresh ingredients.

2022-06-27This place has been here for a LONG time. Its a Bayside Classic, IMO. The food is good and they have practically Everything when it comes to popular and traditional Korean food. Prices are a bit high; to mitigate the price, go for the lunch specials / boxes. I decided to get the sashimi lunch box. The sushi was ok. But the korean sides really shined. This place is all about korean food. As a final note, I went with a big group and there were A LOT of korean side dishes provided on the house. These sides were great. The JapChae was my favorite side, it had some spicy pepper oil on it - a new twist on a classic korean side.
