Truly a great dine in place- not to mention convenient and timely order out when reopening GO! My friends and I enjoyed dining in and ordering out here. The food and specialty dishes are exceptional. When the restaurant reopens this is one of Staten Islands go to place’s especially for there pickup or order out business. The China Chalet is well known and the consensus speaks to a need for a reopening/renovation and renewal of this exceptional service/restaurant. Open for business and the whole Richmond County is grateful- extraordinary and large selection of take out and great service. Make a stop at the bar while waiting, see barkeep Kenny you will not be disappointed; he is always a pleasure to see and he will not only make your day, he will make you the best concoction of any tropical 🌴 cocktail.
Where should I start? I will start with the chicken wings, which was absolutely horrible. I actually fed it to my dogs, who ate it slowly. The house fry rice, maybe they forgot the balance of the ingredients. It was white and had zero flavor. I asked my white friend to taste it, who said it had no flavor. Really, truly, how do u mess up chicken wings, which I taught was impossible to do. I tore up the menu, and will never order from this restaurant again.

Visited with a group. Dinner was served family style and everything was excellent. Food was fresh and in abundance. Price reasonable.

One of the better Chinese restaurants on Staten Island. The restaurant is clean and the wait staff is friendly and polite. They have been open for many years which in itself is surprising in this day & age. There is ample parking in the strip mall lot
I just recently moved to Staten Island about a week ago an I was referred to this Chinese restaurant by a friend! Let me tell you there service is horrible! They look at you a funny an they start speaking there language in front of you!!!! I found out that you cannot sit an eat your food that you just paid!!! They told me I have to pay EXTRA to sit down!!!! Also there’s flys in there kitchen!! I saw because they keep the back door open!! Imagine the flys hovering over your food!!!! I highly do not recommend to anyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Food here is good. Service is usually OK. Been here at least 5 times already and mostly good experiences. The prices are good for what you are getting. I can safely recommend this place if you are looking for a nice Chinese restaurant in the area to dine in.

Food was great, especially for a strip mall, the service on the other hand was abhorrent. I took my grandmother here, the waiter was repeatedly short with her and scoffed at some of her questions. Had this been all I wouldnt have posted this. His tip reflected his service, and after he had a chance to look at it, he came back pointing at the receipt asking if there was a problem with the service. I proceeded to tell him everything Ive written here, to which he stormed off, only to come back five minutes later, say he didnt need the tip and to take it off. I just about physically assaulted him. He proceeded to clear our table as my grandmother was still eating her dessert, and I was having a drink. Definitely not returning, but the kitchen doesnt deserve fault, hence the three stars.
Its one of my favorite Chinese restaurant the service is first class the food is excellent and fresh ! The bar is a lot of fun its small but it draws the local crowd I give it a 5-star rating
Another China chalet and this one is one of the best store out there. The other 2 are garbage. The owner I believe his name is keith. A owner who will curse you out. I order a chicken with broccoli with his restaurant. What happen is there is a lot of corn starch. its slimy as hell. I want them to refund me back the money. However he refuse. He curse me out and tell me If you dont like it dont order from usI will not order from china chalet. Marking my words.This Place is garbage. Like real S***. The design are good. Do not judge a restaurant by its design. Its food.

Waiter was extremely rude so rude im writing this review before my food even came out. This is my second time i experienced a rude waiter. My waiter says his name was joe, an wen i couldnt understand him an asked if he could repeat himself he did so with an attitude an raised.voice, almost condescending. If i could find roast pork buns anywere else on si id be there. Thank you

I would give it 0 reviews if it was an option food was okay but the service sucks and very rude I paid with my card and was going to give a cash tip but the guy was standing over me when I was signing the paper which is disrespectful then he looked at the paper and looked at the table and said NO TIP you don’t ask someone for a tip if he would have gave me 1 sec I would have put the money on the table but he was rude so I left without giving a tip NEVER GOING BACK AGAIN

2022-01-27Went on a weekday and the food was AMAZING. We had chicken lo mein, beef and scallions, beef and string beans among a lot of appetizers and everything came out piping hot and tasted amazing. You can tell it was freshly prepared. The service was also amazing. The staff was very attentive. They have a bar which we sat at before dinner.

2022-07-07This place has been a fixture for years and years. A stones throw away from my house I only just started taking advantage and having lunches here. Today I had the most delicious pepper steak with onion that I can ever remember having. It was fresh the steak was paperthin and had no fat on it whatsoever. So so good. The chicken dishes are delicious as well and the prices are great. I love it here and will continue to go.

2022-04-15First off, the food was good. Not amazing but good, I would consider ordering takeout from here if Empire Szechuan was not down the block.The service however was inexcusably bad. I read other reviews and they are correct, at least one of their waiters are incredibly rude. I went on a Thursday night and there were several other tables. He was working alone, and pretty busy, but I observed him great each table with the same level of disrespect. His attitude is very unpleasant and when you ask any questions he is very dismissive. My 8 year old daughter asked him what kind of drinks they have, he waved in the direction of the bar and said he would come back. If I was not in a hurry, and with my daughter who wanted Chinese, I would have walked out. Then the order came a few minutes later and was wrong.The food was good and I still left a 20% tip because I know these are tough times but...The service is ruining that place. I would never go again. If you want a great sit down Chinese experience on Staten Island, check out Jade Island near the mall. They have been there for 40 years and the service and staff are excellent every time.

2022-04-08This place was fine under the original owner but after it changed ownership not so much.The first thing that was noticed was that for a late Saturday afternoon it was empty. All the tables were empty. It also had a run down worn look too as well.So we are seated and when my son ordered and made a special request the waiter became very rude and was muttering in Chinese everytime he came over to our table, it was clear he was cursing us.He had something against my son for whatever reason and we couldnt figure it out. And when we were eating this waiter would be standing there STARING at us mumbling.My son had to leave because he was very upset by this server and he didnt eat because he was afraid they may have done something to the food. I ate my dinner and paid the bill WITHOUT a gratuity and this guy started screaming in Chinese.Im not making this up. It was a horrible experience and of course trying to find the manager to complain to was in vain.Needless to say well NEVER go there again and I believe I will make some phone calls about that bar they have. Some shady things going on there...

2022-05-08I just ordered for Mothers Day and am so disappointed....this place had the greatest food going and today the food was not up to par...everything was tastless and the worse part is I recommended them to a friend this morning. And the prices have jumped sky high...no more order there.

2022-03-14An absolute disaster of a meal i ordered beef and broccoli and made a simple request of extra beef not so much broccoli the waiter became very agitated and kept cursing us in Chinese under his breath me and my table ordered wonton soups he brought everyone elses soup out besides mine then when we said I was missing a soup he said very rudely any special requests he spilt water all over the table in front of me but no one else absolutely disgusting service should have gone next door to juicy Lucy bbq another business that will hopefully soon go under
