Ordered about$50 worth of food tonight. Knew something was different as soon as I saw the black containers. Opened the top and wow. Colorful, and fragrant. The general T’sao chicken was actually spicy. Fried rice was on point. China House has upped their game. Best Chinese food I’ve had since Wo-hop in NYC.

A pulpy mass of morbid diathesis. In addition to my heart, there are some small organs I wish to give you: glands, sweetbreads, variety meats. Im offering these gifts... rare gifts. I know that they do not amount to much in the face of what youve given me (General Tsos Tofu), but they are all I have. They are for you. I will be there soon. Thank you.
Went to the restaurant. It wasnt busy. The preparer was nice. The kitchen was very cluttered and messy. I was a little nervous, but I decided to eat anyways. I ordered crab rangoon which had hardly any cream cheese in it and had a powdery taste to it. Also, I didnt get any of the red sauce that was supposed to come with it. I also ordered chicken lo mein which was ok.
Stop going, food wasnt great. The same order made different everytime. One time I went the little daughter kept accusing me of being a thief as I waited for my food. She was like 6 years old...I am African American, I tried to ignore her, but she kept saying it, until they heard and laughed uncomfortably, telling her to stop.
The food is decent. When you stick to what you know, you cant go wrong.
If you want flies in your rice/chicken, by all means, order from here. Two out of the 4 dishes I ordered tonight for my family had a fly in it. They leave the door open during their hours of operation ALL SUMMER. Not cool. I highly doubt that I will go back to this place. Ever.
Best food in town by far. Boneless spare ribs best Ive ever had, and the crab Rangoon is made a little differently from others but very delicious. Delivery driver is very polite and works hard.
I ordered small bone in spareribs and one and a half sparerib was burnt, and its not the first time this has happened. The shrimp rolls were fine, but the duck sauce was not enough even though I asked for extra.
The food is really good ! Better than any other place I had but they do have terrible service! My food like an hour late and the driver claimed he arrived and knocked but no one answered. Then he realized he was on the wrong street! Before I even knew this I called them to see what was taking so long and the lady hated her job she was annoyed and didnt want to be there ! 👎🏼
Since hey have reopened the food is old and not as good, The general tso meat is extremely hard like old chicken. It took two hours to get a delivery of old hard food. Wont be ordering from here anymore.
Not always the friendliest but they are consistent so if you like there food it wont change lol as of now no1 is allowed to dine or even enter building they chain door as soon as they put your bag and money on a chair which I could appreciate if they keep that chair clean also I took a photo the other day of food being cut up on a customer type table where you can sit if everything was fine (covid) but I thought of that as unsanitary but if no1 has used it and its been cleaned properly I guess its just I think the food should be prepped in kitchen not in customer area
Not the most beautiful looking restaurant but the food was great, better than other Chinese restaurants I’ve been to so can’t complain.
Tryed to order food they do not want money only credit card. I pay cash how do I know they keep my information secure.Liked there food they do not deliver to my home to far away. Thats not kool. There are others places that I can go to.

I had an hour and a half wait for my food. Then the person forgot my drink. They told me the person was on their way. Never came back. Told me to wait an hour. Never came. Then began to argue with me on when would give me what I already paid for, and even for upset with me over it when I expected to have it within 5 hours. We finally agreed on them getting it to me at 11:00 pm. They close then, its past 11 and I doubt Im ever getting what I already paid for. Total wait time for my drink has been 6 hours. A can of soda. I was never rude to them once, just wanted what I paid for. I got nothing, not even an offer of kindness for all the lies and how patience I was. I refuse to order from them again, Ive been buying from them for years but honesty theyd gotten to a point of no return with how rude and nasty they are. I wish I wasnt down money from wasting my time with them. Even the delivery cost more than some areas. I would NEVER recommend them to anyone and never buy from them again. Sad how after all this they win because they still have my money, and never gave me everything I ordered. Blatant robbery.
I ordered fried rice with chicken wings, not at all what I expected. My chicken was so salty I couldnt eat it, and my rice was plain rice no vegetables...nothing. So basically white rice that was cooked in chicken broth. Completely disappointed.
To everyone that gives China House a one-star why bother ruining it for a local business with your stupid comments. Its hard enough for local businesses to make a living today just not go back if you dont like it. Theyre great people the foods always been great. KU you probably eat ramen noodles every night. Placed an order for delivery and left my phone number just in case there were any issues. Waited an hour and no delivery or phone call, so I call the place and they tell me the driver was already there and for me to come outside. Im assuming the driver was coming back, so I wait 5 more minutes and nothing. I call back and the man tells me the driver left and he will call me back and that was 20 minutes ago. They lost a customer, I will never order from this low budget place again.
The food was an hour late food was cold and and burnt and there was hair in it and when I called back the lady was rude and said there was no way the food was cold and hung up on me I dont recamend this place at all really rude and nasty
I think this is the best Chinese food place in Poughkeepsie by far. I never had a bad experience here before they even stayed open late a few minutes for me one day. Their food is on point I would recommend to anyone.

Terrible service. I walked in expecting to order their food, But stood there almost 10 mins. They did notice me in there, even the lady that takes the orders and stuff ignore me like i wasnt there....dont go there. its a waste of time. they dont like certain people, i wouldnt recommend them to anybody

2022-06-03Our go to for Chinese take out! They have reasonable prices and great food. They fill the containers to the max and give you a bang for your buck!!! The staff are very friendly and the woman who works there always says hi to our 3 year old son...we recommend this place to everyone when they ask for the best Chinese food!

2021-12-03Some of their food is good but I don’t know what happens with their won ton soup! The first time it was good, the second time it was mixed with egg drop soup, yuk! and the third time it was COLD and we couldn’t get past the fishy smell to even eat it! Double yuk!

2021-11-16Delicious! The veggie portions are always generous, too. If you like a little bit of heat, appetizer #11 is great as a shared side or a main dish for 1–2 people. The pork & cabbage soup is another favorite of mine thats not on most other takeout menus in the area.

2021-02-04We use to order from them all the time. I am seriously disgusted!. I found a long hair in the white rice. I first thought it was mine but it’s actually deep in the bottom of the white rice. I then took out my soup and say a baby ROACH on the top of it! I got a full refund back through DoorDash but just warning others to take caution.

2020-05-29I have been ordering for many years from China House, last night I placed a large order and need to put most in the trash, the cold noodles were so spicy that they could no be eaten, the General Cho chicken was also over spiced. I called to complain and was offered a free General Cho on my next order. The order was $80 with the delivery and tip and the only about half of the food could be eaten. Last time for us. When I called I was told this is the way they always spice their food, not in the times before have I had to throw it out.
