Food arrived cold, sweet and sour chicken was overly greasy and not fresh. Taste like the just refried old chicken. The general toas chicken is nothing like general toas. Chicken is soggy, light orange and dry. No sauce . Even the fried wonton are old and stale and refried . Horrible
My favorites are the Barbeque spare ribs, fried calamari/fried squid with pepper, Hawaiian beef, and wonton soup. I get white rice. Simple and tasty dinner for when I don’t feel like cooking.
Delicious food. Very friendly staff. Small parking lot in the back, which is more than can be said about most places on the Island. Affordable prices. Ive never used the delivery service, but they do deliver. Bar area always seems to be crowded. TVs typically show local sporting events.

The food at China New Star is always good. I love to go there to eat in the restaurant. I do wish that they would update the place. Theres a funny smell in there and I think it may be the carpet. I have been going there for many years, even prior to the restaurant being taken over by China New Star years ago and it has never been updated. Id love to go eat there more often but I prefer ordering in until they update the place.
Very unhappy with my service when I ate here. The waiter was rude and condescending to me and my date. Arrogant at its finest, will not patronize them ever again and urge others to do the same. Food was lackluster and c- at best. Customer for several years and found hair and metal objects in food on a number of occasions. Dumplings are undercooked and prices are ridicules.
Have changed the cooking and flavors so much they don’t taste like the dish .I just ordered shrimp egg foo young and I was given a sweet/spicy sauce . I called and he was nasty... also ordered pepper steak and we couldn’t eat that either .Money down the drainWill never go back again

Wanted to order somewhere new and I can definitely say this is not your ordinary Chinese food spot! Its very different. They have quality and there food taste great. Love the home made duck sauce, the egg rolls are very good and not greasy like some others are, rice is really great and their chicken wings are good . Have to say I am a new customer lol you have to try it !!!!!!

Very rude and disrespectful I was trying place all I did was ask questions about the order to confirm she got it right. The next thing she was started speaking in Chinese and asking me if I want to buy or not. Why will I call a restaurant if I don’t want to order for food. Never will I buy food from this place.
Food was not good at all. Gen Tso had a fish taste to it, like it was cooked in an improperly cleaned pan. The won ton soup was just disgusting...the wonton overly thick, super thickand the inside meat had a terrible taste. Chicken and broccoli should have been called broccoli with chicken. $40 and couldt eat it. Extremely disappointed.
I must say this may is a biased review but the proof is in the pudding. Ive been eating from here since I was a pre teen and I still eat here. Ive tried many other Chinese spots in this area, and a few when I was living in the New Dorp area. I still go here no matter where I live. Naturally, if I found something better why would I still go here? The portions are great, the quality is always on point and you cant beat the price. Delivery is almost always within 30 mins and def no more than 45 on Friday nights.
I ordered again today after being disappointed last time. The food today is delicious and delivery was super fast, so everything was hot. I will be a return customer.

I received wonton soup that had the head of a cockroach chopped into it. It wasn’t floating, antennae and all, when I opened the soup container. They weren’t even apologetic when I called for them to take the food back and refund me.
I just tried to order for delivery for elderly parents 85 and 76 years of age new China said they cannot go upstairs because they are busy at this time don’t they understand that this is a order and it’s part of business a customer calling to order shame on you for saying you cannot go upstairs for elderly people who cannot walk boycott this restaurant.
I eat there once and i paid the bill but i only had the amount for the bill so i couldnt leave any tips so this waiter harass me for tips.he call me out while im leaving and harass me for not leaving any tips...what kind people do that. worse place to go there to eat.
The service was quick and friendly, we did the Family dinner option, the value was high, the food was delicious. Dont expect a fancy decor but expect good eats.

General Tso on three different occasions had chicken that was a very dark brown, very dry and chewy, but there were other times it was very good.
The food is greasy and oily and undercooked. Servers are nasty and don’t understand English when you order.

China New Star is a fabulous resturaunt. The fried rice, chicken &brocoli, and chicken noodle soup are my personal faveorites; All thoughthe shrimp comes very spicy, and is hard to cool off. I recommend the plain white rice and shrimp rolls, if you dont want much, but you want a little spice! I advise you not to feed your children -or like toddlers- any pork because its hard & sharp, and shrimp ecause its hot, slippery, and isnt very calming.

2022-07-02Yeah Barry doesnt know what he is talking about. This place is a hidden gem.Fried rice always has huge fresh delicious chunks of pork in it. Everything always comes out steaming hot and fresh. I order from here about once a month and never have a bad meal.In fact Im ordering from here tonight. I will take an add pictures later.Honestly, could the service be better at times? Yeah.But its exactly the kind of service I expect from an old school joint like this.If you dont feel like youre getting yelled at a bit, its not authentic. 😂🤣The owner who works the pickup/takeout window is a sweetheart though! Just like anyone get to know her. She is a very kind woman.

2022-04-23First, they charge the customer the credit card service fee. Which is expressly against merchant agreement. Customers arent supposed to pay that fee as an add on cost. They sneakily add to bill and label in Mandarin.Second, the lunch special ordered (L20) was an atrocity. The fried rice looked like it was colored/flavored with literal charcoal. No pork in the rice. No vegetables either. It was absolutely terrible! The entree was decent though pretty small. The included wonton soup had freezer burned wontons/dumplings. They were unpleasant. The broth was oily and lacked any actual flavor. The shrimp egg roll had exactly 2 small shrimp inside. Everything else inside was just cabbage. No carrot, no anything else.Keep in mind, the food is priced on the slightly higher side, the portion thankfully (sarcasm) are undersized. And basic staple dishes (fried rice) are not even remotely close to actual fried rice.Be prepared to spend your money on bland, boring or atrocious food.

2021-04-03I ordered many times from China New Star, but I will no longer buy food from them. Delivery service took over two hours. After calling multiple times to be told that my order is out for delivery, they eventually tell me they forgot to make it. No sincere apology or how to make up for their error and lie ..just do you still want it or not? Horrible service, and I do not recommend this place. Treat customers better.

Good food but rude and terrible business, waiter was very very rude told him to give me a minute to look at the menu and he shook his head at me, then told me how much I should of tipped him and got mad and started comparing my tip to the other customers tips!!! unbelievable and would never ever be coming back!!!
