As a hot pot lover who lives in New York for 8 years, I have visited all famed hot pot places here and I have to say- Chongqing Lao Zao is simply the best. If you love spicy hot pot, it’s a must try. I’ve visited Lao Zao more than 20 times and have ordered delivery on other apps even more than 10 times. If you’re looking for another flavor besides spicy, try the tomato one which is also the best of all.
Authentic Szechuan Spicy Hotpot! It’s now on my weekly visit list! The beef is the best! It doesn’t matter if it’s the toro beef or other slices, all are tender and spicy. For me I’d always choose the beef with milk. Other dishes such as the goose blood and deep-fried crispy pork belly are worth a try.A reservation will be good since there are always lots of people unless during a week day visit. Jointing a waitlist is possible starting from 5pm but it will take approximately 1.5hr to be seated during weekend.
Do not be deceived by the front entrance of this restaurant! The interior is beautiful and big kudos to restaurants with cultural-themed vibes as shown in the pictures. Better yet, the food/service is spectacular, and deserves another visit the next time Im in Queens/Flushing!
Choqing Lao Zhao - 8/10I love the interior of this restaurant because it will transport you to the other side of the world. The soup bases are pretty standard and the quality of meat is also not bad. However, what really sold me was the price. This is one of the most affordable upscale hot pot restaurants. The wait is long but trust me it’s worth it!Pro-tip: Get yourself some boba and your time will be up before you know it!
My favorite hot pot place! Love their soup base (had spicy & tomato in this photo). The atmosphere is awesome with all the ChongQing décor. I suggest this place to all my friends. I recommend coming on a weekday because on weekends there are more people since its so popular.
This establishment doesn’t take reservations. I encourage you to call and be placed on the waitlist. Call two hours before your preferred time. For instance if you want to dine at 7pm, call at 5pm.The establishment does check for the covid-19 vaccination card. Please have it handy. The hostess was a bid rude since I wasn’t familiar with their waitlist process. I suggest patience with the waitstaff. The menu is a piece of paper 8 1/2 by 11. The font is incredibly hard to read. I encourage them to increase the font and possible add images next to certain items. The menu’s font made it hard to read the menu or make our experience enjoyable. The food was delicious. The restaurant should be honest about the spice levels of their broth. Their mild is incredibly hot and filled with chili flakes. Our meat and vegetables were drenched in the oils from the chili flakes making it impossible to eat.The frog was a bit bland and flavorless even inside the broth. The decor is beautiful and very detailed. The second floor of the establishment is not handicap accessible. The establishment is awarded four stars based of the hostess/wait staff experience, decor, overall hospitality and food quality. Five stars were not awarded due to the attitude of the hostess and the incredibly small font of the menu.Highly encourage anyone to visit but be mindful of the wait times.Parking in Flushing can be challenging at times but their is a local municipal parking lot nearby.
Ive been experiencing a wide variety of Chinese hot pot restaurants and this is one of the more interesting and delicious Ive tried. I was walking around downtown Flushing and noted this seemed like a popular restaurant just by the number of people waiting and going in and out. I made a note to mention it to my gf but it turned out she knew and had already planned for us to visit on our trip!As others have mentioned it doesnt reveal much from the outside, and the interior is made up in 1950s type of decor with straw embedded in the stone and propaganda type of posters. Very fun once you get a chance to start looking around. The hot pot was delicious and is very typical for this style of restaurant. Just pick your broth (they have pots that can accommodate multiple types), select various ingredients, go make some dipping sauce, and then cook up your delicious meal. Everything was high quality and we really enjoyed our meal here. 5 stars for sure and will happily return.
This place has the best hot pot. We often travel from Brooklyn just to eat here. They changed how the wait-list works, now online wait-list for dinner doesnt open until 5pm and at that point the wait-list blows up super fast. For lunch, we came at 11:55 on a Sunday, group of 3, and there were already enough groups ahead that we had to wait an hour to be seated.
First experience having hotpot and it definitely will not be my last. Awesome for groups ranging in sizes 2+. I recommend placing a reservation as you never know what the crowd will be like. Also make sure everyone is there or they won’t seat you. The menu is jam packed, you literally have so many options that you have no choice but to try them all. The meats and veggies were all great. The spicy flavors of the hotpot liquid will have your nose running in enjoyment. Definitely will be back for more.
Excellent service. Courteous and friendly. They offered me the apron since they saw me wearing a white dress. Gladly offered me a charging cable when asked for it.The decor is top-notch, and the food, like other reviews mentioned, tastes authentic. The entire experience is great!Except my stomach may not agree to what I have eat but hahah that is just the part of the experience and ritual of spicy hotpot.
Great service and nostalgic vibe for the Chinese community. They put a lot of effort into the decoration and vibe. It is comparably speaking one of the best and authentic hotpot I’ve had in the State. The only thing I’m more disappointed about is the most spicy broth is still not spicy enough for me. Otherwise, great experience.
TLDR: best hotspot place I have been to in New YorkSetting: Visiting NYC with friendsWhat makes this place special: the atmosphere and lighting is perfect for dates! My friend took me here on my visit to NYC and I believe that it is one of the best hot pot places out there. Beware that things can get very very spicy. We ordered oyster mushrooms, lamb, beef, tofu, etc. The atmosphere is amazing and it’s beautiful. The prettiest interior for a hotpot restaurant I have ever seen and I will definitely recommend this place to everyone who asks me about restaurants to try in nyc!
Typical hotpot you’ll see in Asian. It’s the everyday scene and ambiance make you feel like you’re eating with a bunch of old friends from middle school. The only thing I never encounter is that you have to pay extra for the sauce. WTH????? The sauce is essential for hotpot. And the server wouldn’t bring up the extra charge until you see it on the bill and the fine print on the menu.
I’ve been to many restaurants in Flushing and left good reviews whenever I see fitting. This is my first ever one-star review. I got a waiting ticket at 5pm and arrived just 1 min late when my number was called. But I was told the seat was just given to others. There was no apology; simply a cold statement asking us to wait for about 20 minutes later. He pretended to be polite but the tone was rude and disrespectful.
Went with friends to get hotpot together. I definitely recommend going with a small group as hotpot is best with others. And if you family style you can get a good assortment :)I recommend trying the fish. Also if you have the spicy broth with the fat, I recommend you get a different one for vegetables. Otherwise the fat coats it too much.
They are really stubborn at the waitlist. When three of us arrived but one of us is parking, they do not let us in. The point here is there is no difference between 3-people table and 4-people table. They said they are different but I saw 2 people sitting on the 4-people table and did not see any three-people table. I’m not sure why they are so stubborn and arrogant. Won’t come here next time. Really bad experience here. On weekend to be on the early spot of the the queue arrived at 11:45am (15mins before the opening time), it’s really frustrated that they do not let three of us in until four of us are here. Never consider the feeling of customers.
It is an review for delivery order. The food was amazing. The food was well packed. The soup base was spicy and tasty. The braised dishes were tender and rich in flavor. Other dishes were fresh as well. If you love Chongqing style hot pot, which was freaking spicy by the way, you will definitely love this one.
I would rate the restaurant 5 stars because of its memorable spicy beef tallow pot, intriguing decors and great service! Highly recommend this restaurant if you wanna experience vibrant flavor and authentic chongqing style hotpot. Great food , great service even during outdoor dining.
I called 2 hours ahead. I told them I would like to wait, please write my name down on the waiting list. But they refused to put me in the waiting list, telling me I have to wait outside their restaurant to be called. And the girl told me the waiting hour is 2 hours. I told them I have three kids. I’m not trying to jump the line. I just want her to put me in the waiting list and I can be there when it’s about the time. But she kept refusing me and telling me it’s their policy. This is terrible. Avoid this place at rush hour. The waiting time is too long and their policy is not kids friendly.
Amazing experience! We got the mild spicy broth for half and mushroom soup for another half of the hot pot. It is a great selection if you can’t handle spice very well. The mild spice is very spicy in the American standard. The best of spice is that it is not only spicy but so aromatic. I love the smell of the restaurant which reminds me of home.
It is a little disappointed that the hot pot doesn’t match my expectations.Pros: the dishes are fresh and not expensive compared to similar hot pot nearby; the service is great;Cons: the hot pot is NOT spicy and attractively fragrant even though we order the most spicy one (this comment is useful for the traditional Hot pot lover);
Enjoyed a fantastic dinner here at Chongqing Lao Zao in Flushing that really hit the spot 😆 Suuuper authenticate Chongqing Hotpot - we ordered the pot with nine grids, where you can dip different meats and veggies in. The restaurant also helps you build this oil and hot pepper spices dipping dish for you to enjoy the hoppy with.If you order the brown sugar jelly it calms the spiciness quite nicely 😌😌 Everything was super flavorful and I cannot wait to go back for another meal! One tip is to make sure to go early or call in ahead of time so you don’t end up waiting for 2+ hours for a spot!
I come here with my boyfriend and his family at times. Compared to other places around Queens/New York it can be on the pricier end but the experience is worth it. The interior decor is amazing despite being tucked away on a empty street. Hotpot broth is super spicy but has great taste. Workers are nice and service is fairly quick. Can get crowded or really busy even with COVID because it’s a common restaurant for locals. Love visiting here.
First time at the new location post covid! Me, my wife, and 3 of her friends.First off, the ambiance and decor is great! Really makes you feel like youre in an actual Chongquing gathering. Tables are close together, but it adds to the style. The food was good, very fresh. And service was great too (though one of the wait staff stations was right behind us). They had a great variety of soup bases, but a little less on sauce choice.Although it was cramped and VERY busy on weekends ( 2 hour wait! ) it was a good time!
Amazing authentic taste!! Service was extremely good. There was so much wait staff servicing us and even removing used tissues from our table. The food was amazing, broth wasnt greasy. Only complaint is the smoke from the hot pot doesnt have direct ventilation on top so my eyes were very dry after.
Food delivery drivers can easily enter the restaurant for pickup. However some riders with bikes(motorcycle or electric bike) will flip up their helmets for talking. The restaurant doesnt stop them and the waiter is passing them with dishes on a tray. Its a sensitive time so Im concerned and not comfortable with this.
Very nice decor and service. Ingredients are fresh, but something are missing from the spicy soup base. I give 100 for the environment and service, 85 for the food. Overall, a very good experience. Probably my expectations were too high, thought it would be as good as Chengdus. Not bad
I wanted to try the spiciest hotpot choice however my entourage didn’t and we got the medium spice.. very spicy however if you can eat spicy definitely get the hottest hotpot!! The server was kind enough to tell us that he will bring us a medium spice hotpot and he will add more spice into it if we needed.. the people i went with could not handle more than medium but it was very good but i needed spicier! I would definitely try the MaLa beef.. its coated in hot peppers :) mouth watering just thinking about it.. also its a more expansive spot for hotpot and i wasn’t really happy when you have to pay extra to make an extra sauce.. common the bill was over 250 for 5 people you cant spare a extra sauce dish? hence the 4stars.. otherwise the food was good!
The hot pot soup base and the restaurant setting is definitely among the top ten hot pot spots in NYC; however, the food quality was way below my expectation and the portion they gave comparing to what they charge is pathetic. The service was below par, the waiter didnt attend to us much. The soup base was about 30% evaported before the guy came back with food. In between, we were so starved and started eating the mushroom in the soup base - it was sad. We also had to ask multiple times for a glass of water. Would not recommend this place to my friends.
Soooo disappointedOutdoor seating in a cold night with no warming fan, took much longer for the hotpot to boilHalf the menu were sold out, even the drinksSpicy soup w/ super 🌶 did not even trigger me a bit, tried many Chongqing spicy soup base in DC area, not even close to the to claim to be “authentic”.friend from local Chongqing said he’s so disappointed and thought this was overrated.Mushroom base was also tooo salty but not fresh, drank ton of water that nite back homeService was good tho, two stars for the service :/
Im not going to say this is the best hotpot in New York City, because I havent tried them all, but this is by far my favorite after three visits. They use high quality ingredients, the broth is delicious, their sauce station is beautiful, clean and well organized, they have some tasty side dishes including stellar fried rice, and when you eat there, you feel transported to another world in their retro-themed three-story hideaway near the corner of 37th Ave and Prince St. Service is friendly and professional - everyone speaks English as well.
Came on a Sunday for lunch and after reading some reviews of the place getting busy on the weekend, we decided to go right when it opened at 12pm. There were couple of people waiting to eat when we arrived but we were all seated right away (the place got packed around 1pm). Our server was patient in explaining to us the different choices of hot pots to choose from and how long to cook each ingredient. He even told us to take a couple of items off when he realized we were ordered too ambitiously for four people. So we took off couple of veggies from our marked sheet.Cannot even remember how many meats/veggies we got but it was definitely plenty and by the end of it we were all stuffed. Couldve probably gotten a few less items but it was worth it. My favorite meat was the fresh frog. The tenderized beef came already salted and was too salty for me, so I would advice skipping that. The pot base we chose was the hot oil one that was sectioned off. This helped you find what you want to eat because food wont travel within the entire pot. We chose the medium spice level which was spicy enough, but the soup base was slightly too salty for me so I wouldnt get it again. Probably try one of the two other pot styles if I go again. They do charge you for the special sauce per person, which I did not like more than the one I made myself from the sauce bar. The special cause had a lot of garlic, scallion, cilantro, and OIL. I can only taste the sesame oil but our server said its a mixture of different oils. My advice is to not pay for it and mix your own.The ambiance of the place is also amazing, you feel like youre eating in an old school outdoor area with fire pits under your hot pot. Which added to the entire experience nicely.Overall this is a fun place, good service, and has quality ingredients. We came out $40/person including tax and tip.
The wait is a little excessive. The pot is charged per table, so if you go alone, it could be costly; going with a few friends is recommended, so the average cost will cut down a little. The taste is pretty good, but it really is VERY oily, but thats probably why the taste is good. The decor is nice, the posters in the bathroom made my day.
+Very nice decoration, it really makes you feel like you are in one of the Chong Qing villages in the 80s. Even from outside, with their heavy wooden doors and stone bench. All the dishes and cups are custom made.+Food is good, similar to Xiang Hotpot thats located upstairs in the new world mall, they are all szechuan style beef fat spicy pot. And this one you can really find all the spices in the bottom of the hotpot.+Service is excellent, they will clear the emptys off your table and change your plate if needed. If you ever been to Xiang Hotpot Id say they are at the same level.+The one thing that makes me want to come back is their level of authenticity. The dipping sauce that they have, although they charge $0.9 per person, what you get is as close as what you will get in China.-They are fairly popular right now so even on a Monday night they are packed with people. Which I guess some people will like that.-The table is made of stone which has a nice touch compared to Xiang hotpot, but Its somewhat small for the three of us that visited.3 of us, 1 male and 2 female. Got pretty full at the end even had to ask for take out bags for the leftovers (untouched). Spent $190, 20% tip included, with meat veggies and enough drinks for the table. Was a good experience.
Second time here:Service is still tentative. Food is good. But the overall experience didn’t meet our expectations.Pricy: $60/person, including tax and tips.First time here:Pros: I love the spicy and mushroom soup base. Really tasty. The ingredients are fresh. The service is great. They gave us Zong Zi for Chinese traditional holiday.Pricy. $60/person, including tax and tips.
CHINA 🇨🇳 (Chongqing)Eat the World NYC review:Are you not really a hot pot person? Have you been underwhelmed with it to this point in your life? I think this is the right place to try and see if you can have your mind changed.Chongqing is a city and municipality often erroneously linked to its neighboring Sichuan province to the west. The city itself is actually one of four in China (the others are Beijing, Tianjin, and Shanghai) under the direct control of the central government and given special recognition as a National Central City (国家中心城市). A city of over 8.5 million people, its inhabitants are fierce advocates of spice and claim to be the people able to eat the spiciest foods in all of China. They do share a similar cuisine with Sichuan, much of which is indistinguishable to an outsider, but their hot pot style is famous throughout the country a point of pride.Lao zao (老灶) might literally translate to old stove but there is still a lot of work to do before we understand its significance and relation to this style of hot pot. Using oils that have been aged and cooked with beef tallow (delicious fat), the richness and depth is what is immediately striking. Many hot pots can be covered in peppers and spicy, but the tastes here are full of flavor that latches on to eat cut of meat dipped within.
The shop opens at 12:30 but there are people in line at 11:30. When we arrived at 12:03, we had to wait for about half an hour until it was close to one oclock in the afternoon, and we could only enter after the tatami seat was opened. After that, the waiting time will be more than two hours. Appointments are not accepted, and you can only go in to get a number. After coming here three times, I finally got in line once and didnt have to wait more than two hours. The hairy belly is super delicious, the bottom of the pot is numb but not very spicy, and the tomato is strong. The hairy belly can be eaten up or down! Green vegetables are a bit old, watercress and chrysanthemum, and they are quite expensive. The fried rice was surprisingly delicious, with distinct grains. General ice cream. Both the oil dish and the dry dish will be prepared for you, so you dont need to adjust it yourself. Pissing beef balls are super juicy! The loin of the big knife is also delicious, very thin, so you can eat it when it changes color. Hot pot boiled lo-mei also has a different flavor!
The online queuing is very convenient, the dishes are very fresh and the variety is very good, the service is super good, the little brother is very considerate, and he advised us not to order too many dishes, it turns out that he is right, so he still leans against the wall to go out hh peach blossom is drunk drink! Recommended Recommended!
The hot pot is delicious, and the bottom of the pot is pretty good. Remember to make an appointment if there are too many people in the queue. Tripe is the best in it. Its good everywhere but the consumption is a bit high.Another problem is that it will always pull after eating...
Things are getting more and more expensive. Two people didnt eat much and it cost 140%. For lunch, I added a 10% tip after eating. The waiter said that the suggestion here is at least 18% written on the receipt. Now this store is full of Is it mandatory to tip 10% at noon? Two people ate more than 100%, and 10% is not a lot. Secondly, the service was not good. After waiting for a long time, even the shrimp slips didnt help us. He kept saying thank you and ignored us at all.wont go again
I used to love this restaurant. I have been here a few times, and I thought it was delicious. I would like to come here when I eat hot pot. Looking back at the comments here, some people have said that they had diarrhea after eating, which means that we are not an isolated case. I don’t know which link is the problem, whether it is the seasoning or the bottom of the pot. We don’t have a spicy soup base, it is tomatoes and mushrooms. Mushroom soup base, I have never tried to eat outside restaurants for more than ten years and have nausea and diarrhea. The evaluation here is just to remind everyone. I wont be visiting again, Im afraid.
As soon as I entered the store, I suddenly felt that I was back in the world of the 80s. Everything was familiar with the utensils of childhood life. I was very kind and surprised.. The hot pot base is my favorite flavor. I ordered a few favorite hot pots. Taste the side dishes with a few relatives and friends. Eat good, drink and open the forest to go happily 😃😃😍
Because I didnt want to go to the store to wait and ordered another takeaway, I was so pissed! When the business is good, is the store bullying? I received a call from their staff after ordering a self-pickup online, saying that the kitchen cant be repaired and cant be taken out, only dine-in? ! excuse me? Are you kidding me? This lie is for you to tell, you might as well just say that you are too busy to do takeout, there is no tip for takeout, and you don’t have time to do it more directly, then you just cancel the takeout! ! Google dont give this service! right? I cant afford to have fun alone, and I have to queue for 1 hrs + to go to the store. What kind of business treats the customers time as dung, and treats their own business if they want to accept it or not, and then force a refund directly? ! Look at you arrogant
Chongqing Laozao service is really bad. Yesterday we arrived at 6:30 to get the number line and they told us that it would take 2 hours and we went to the next mall to watch a movie. We just finished looking at the location and we went over. After another 45 minutes of waiting, I was speechless. When we arrived, the waiter said we were the next table. Then brought several tables in without our turn. Really speechless and blaming us for saying we were too slow to get a seat for someone else. Obviously, we received the text message at 9:15 and we arrived at 9:20 at the latest because it was really next door and we also returned the text message to confirm the position. When we came, it was said that it was the next table. When we sat down, it was already 10 oclock and our friend who was the waiter at the table next to us gave them the food and was speechless. Apparently we arrived 10 minutes before them and their food was ready and ours was not. The waiter didnt tell us what we ordered, and we only found out that it was not served. Later, we filled out a service card and a woman came over with a little apology, but she kept arguing that it was our problem. I have never seen such a poor service attitude. Waited for more than 3 hours to eat hot pot with such poor service attitude. If you have a bad temper, dont come. It can kill your popularity. You waited from 6:00 to 9:00. Before you can wait, you come over and say you can wait another hour. If its not your turn, the door will be closed. wdf
The originator of hunger marketing. Their own tricks and tricks created the illusion of queuing, and the time for picking up numbers was changed from 4:00 to 5:00. If you grab the number in advance, the number will be automatically passed within 15 minutes, but if it is almost there, there will be no number in the queue, and the system will close at about 6 oclock.
This hot pot restaurant is really dark all my life, and the management is so bad! ! ! I ordered the self-pickup bill on Panda and waited for about half an hour. I called and asked when I could pick it up? The other party said on the phone that you can follow the pick-up time given by Panda. At first, I thought it was only half an hour, maybe not so fast, so I waited for a while until the pick-up time notified by Panda had passed, and then I called again. The second call passed, and it had been almost an hour and a half since I ordered food on Panda. I thought it should have been done, but I was so naive. Take out! Ask me to keep waiting! I asked her how long to wait and she said he didnt know! Im just a capitalized speechless? ? ? Nima, you made people wait for so long and still cant get a meal, why didnt you tell people directly at first that you are too busy to make takeout? I said that you can cancel this single for me directly! At this time, I called a man, and the man answered me directly and said that you have to go to Panda to cancel the order! No regrets at all? ? ? Is your time as someone else all dung? If you cant take a takeaway order, its better to tell others in advance that its not good. Its absolutely amazing to take other peoples orders here and ignore them there! ! ! !
Chongqing Laozao service is really poor. Yesterday we arrived at 6:30 to get the number lined up. They told us that it would take 2 hours to go to the next mall to watch a movie. Just finished watching the location and we passed. After waiting for another 45 minutes, I was speechless. When we first arrived, the waiter said that we would be the next table. Then brought several tables in without our turn. I was really speechless and blamed us for saying that we were too slow to give the position to others. Obviously we received the text message at 9:15 and we arrived at 9:20 at the latest because we were really next door and we also returned the text message to confirm the position, and we said it was the next table when we came. When we sat down at 10 oclock, our friends who were the waiters at the next table were speechless to death when they waited for the dishes. Obviously we were 10 minutes earlier than them and their dishes were ready and ours was not served yet. The waiter didn’t tell us what we ordered. Later, we filled out a service card and there was a woman who came over with a bit of apology. She still kept quibbling about our problem. We have never seen such a bad service attitude. Waited for more than 3 hours to eat hot pot and the service attitude is so bad.
As a Sichuan-Chongqing hotpot professional foodie, I would like to comment: This one is really bad. Among all the hot pot restaurants in Flushing under the banner of professional Sichuan-Chongqing hot pot (Liu Yishou by the side of Xiangtianxia Ma Road), this one is the worst, and it is much worse than the second-to-last. I personally heard about it before but didnt come, and it seemed like seeing the pictures. After eating, I deeply regret it...the base taste is seriously insufficient, and the taste is not good enough. At this level, it may not even be stronger than the butter cubes bought in the supermarket. The only advantage is that the service is good, thats it
Waited for nearly two hoursThe dining environment is very good, maybe the main feelingsLike some drinks, it’s the packaging of a small glass bottle.First, the soup is not very spicy. The oil dish is not good. Spicy beef and beef louver are generally not stunning. The duck gizzard is delicious. The lettuce is also super delicious. The duck intestine is not grabbed. After the ice powder is sold out, there is no brown sugar. It’s not good at all. It’s a lot worse in Chongqing. The most unpalatable thing is the golden thread fish. I thought it was a fish fillet. Two small fish caught in the fish. I was shocked. I was not too fresh. I didn’t eat any more. I didn’t recommend it.General attitudePS: The sink in the bathroom is like a child.

2022-05-15Difficult to get a table on weekends but once you’re in, you’re golden! The smell from outside drew me to this place and once inside, the aroma is even stronger. The interior is so beautifully decorated and is way different than any other hot pot restaurant. You can get a 9 grid hotpot but we opted for the two split pot. The 9 grid is the same flavor for each section and it looks nice but we wanted a spicy and non spicy side. The menu is large and has everything you could want in a hot pot. Everything tasted fresh and came out promptly. I especially liked the cumin beef plate and the tofu strips. I even really enjoyed the grapefruit yakult drink. It was made fresh and really cooled me down from the spicy food! The sauce bar had everything you need but didn’t end up using much of it since the pot was so flavorful already.Probably my favorite hot pot place around here and will return again!

2022-01-15My favorite hot pot spot in Flushing! The decor looks like you step foot right into a Chinese village. Their tomato broth is amazing, and mushroom soup is pretty good too. Definitely get the milky beef, its so tender and delicious! But sometimes they run out, but have many other beef options. Service is friendly and fantastic, our server spoke really good English and had great recommendations. Remember to Use the Google Waitlist option and get on the wait list ~4 hours in advance, and youll be good to go. If you just show up, youll be waiting forever.

2022-01-24Food - 5/5Atmosphere - 5/5Service - 5/5Value - 5/5I dined with two people who were born and raised in Beijing and they swear by the authenticity of this Chinese hot pot venue. Between the deeply ornate and intimate atmosphere, the speedy kitchen service, and the incredible food variety at your fingertips, dining here is an *event*; much more than a meal. Best enjoyed in groups of 4-8 so that you can fill the table completely with dishes.I really appreciated that the staff would place your coats in protective cloth bags, so that the aromas won’t penetrate the fabric. You also get disposable aprons, for potential broth/oil splatter. The only caution to give is the line in - best to get in right at opening!A rare gem which opened during the pandemic and excelled by any pre-pandemic measure.

2022-03-07So good! We got the tomato broth and mild spicy broth, tomato was so good. Milky beef was also yummy, recommend trying it.Loved the design of the restaurant, service was great, waitress was so helpful. They also have little drawstring bags to put your coat in so it doesn’t smell, very cute and thoughtful. There’s a sauce bar for you to make your own sauce. We came for lunch, expected the wait to be 2hrs but we got seated in about an hour. Nice thing about this area is that there’s plenty to do while you wait.

2022-07-08One suggestion: if you are going there for lunch, be sure to arrive before 11:40am at least to be able to get a table. And if you’re 20-ish in the queue and they tell you no availability, remember to ask about the table where you need to take off your shoes (basically 炕). I do think online reservation will make the whole experience much better as well as their service. As for the hot pot itself, I love the variety of choices. And to be honest the spicy broth did not amaze me, but the mushroom broth was very umami and savory!

2022-02-20Expect a long wait but its worth it for excellent hotpot in a unique and comfortable environment. So many options for the hot pot but trust your waiter and youll be in good hands. If you like spice, this will satisfy.

2022-03-12Fantastic hotpot restaurant in an area full of them! I went with 3 friends for lunch and out of enthusiasm, we over-ordered - one order of any single item on the menu, whether meat, vegetable or otherwise, will be plenty for up to 4 people! This visit we enjoyed mushroom broth on one side and their spiciest broth on the other side. We added such ingredients as enokitake mushroom, bean sprouts, noodles, squid, shrimp dumplings, and pork. We kept it pretty basic, but there were more exotic additions such as bull frog, ox tongue, or duck gizzard! The ambience was great, I loved walking into what felt like an ancient Chinese village or town. Service was good, we never had to wait for more water or refills of broth. We didnt have any alcohol this visit, but the drinks looked very reasonably priced for NYC - $3-4 for beer for example.Definitely returning next time Im in Queens!

2022-04-12Both spicy broth and tomato broth are amazing. The ingredients are fresh. I would recommend going there on weekdays to avoid long line of waiting. You could also go on their website to join their waiting list before heading there. 🙃

2022-02-21The decor is of some old style houses in China. We got on the waitlist around 4:20pm and our table was ready around 6:30pm. They wont seat you until your full party is present. The food is like any other hot pot place but the soup base is what makes the place good.
