Chopstix in other cities:
Chopstix is emerging out of our penalty box from 2019. The food has gone back to the days of when they were lining their entryway with culinary awards. The often overlooked young chow rice would be a best seller if they used the Chinese spelling yangzhou fried rice. Its authentic Chinese food and my favorite dish. The lo mein was all around very good. The steamed and fried dumplings were very good but they arent quite back to when they we had to order them every other week.It looks like the have renovated the dining room as pictured and added a bar of high quality liquors that you dont normally see at any Chinese restaurant. I wanted a tumbler of Santori Toki. Its good with a giant piece of ice to sit and relax with, but I was just grabbing takeout.
So I don’t often do negative reviews. But after 3 times I’ve had enough. 1st time I ordered wonton soup. When I bit into one the meat was red. Obviously undercooked. Called them up. Said they will give me a new soup on the next order. That never happened. It’s soup. Whatever. The second time I ordered though seamless sesame chicken and got general Tso chicken. Which I can’t eat because it was too spicy. That was my fault. I waited about an hour before opening the food so there was no point of calling. The 3rd time I ordered boneless spareribs and I basically got something inedible. It was too sweet and a good chunk of it was fat. Plus the rice tasted off. Anyway. On to a new Chinese spot.
If you’re taking out make sure to CHECK YOUR ORDER before leaving! This is the second time they have stolen from me. I ordered small sautéed broccoli which comes with a small order of rice, and a large white rice. Rice that was supposed to come with the broccoli was not there. Bunch of thieves. Also notice how they only reply to 5 star reviews.
Great Chinese cuisine. You get more bang for your buck from the awesome lunch special, BUT thats not to say it isnt a great experience regardless. The atmosphere and lighting are really welcoming. The staff is very courteous and friendly. I really appreciate a place like Chopstix, as they specialize in the dining out experience to actually enjoy yourself. The fried rice was fantastic, since it had a more authentic taste, much more than the wham bam thank you mam style of the regular, greasy corner Chinese joints.
So, Im mostly writing this review to let you guys know Chopstix has changed! They now have a full bar and the most expensive cocktail is $10! Happy hour is anytime before 6pm and its buy one get one free drinks. Also the hours have changed. They now open at 12pm and close for one hour between 4pm and 5pm to prepare for dinner. Its a little annoying but I get what theyre trying to do. I had a pina colada (which is over ice not frozen, and is actually my preferred style) it was ok. The ratio of alcohol was good but the pina colada flavor wasnt all there for me. Then I had the spicy margarita and that will be my forever cocktail from now on! It was amazing! My boyfriend had an old fashion and a berry mimosa. He didnt care for his old fashion but I think it was just him and not so much the drink. Now, on to the food. The fried noodles have gotten so much better! Theyre light and airy with a very fresh taste. We also had a wonderful and attentive waiter who refilled our noodles without us having to ask. My boyfriend had the mango chicken which is always a hit and I had the Peking duck which is my go to at Chopstix. I love their duck so much! The only thing they could improve are the buns. The duck is served with bao but it seems like they were frozen and not fresh. Its still good just not as fluffy. Overall, Im really into the new look theyre going for and Im so happy that theyre in the neighborhood.
I used to really love this place, it was always my go to for Chinese. The food was always tasty and fresh and a huge difference from other Chinese food restaurants, it felt like theyve always used quality meat for their food. But the last year or so the food has tasted like it was made with dish water and the meat tastes like its just been sitting out drying up all day. I decided to give them one last shot today and they still disappointed. Unfortunately, I have to find a new Chinese spot 😕
The food was good and it wasnt oily like many Chinese restaurants in the area. The chicken with broccoli was good, but some pieces of chicken were tough. The sesame chicken was very good, made with chicken breast and thin coated. The rolls pieces were smaller that the ones from other restaurants. The hot & sour soup has a punch and it will clear your nasal passages. Had to wait a bit longer than promised, since they appeared to be very busy.
I LOVED this place every week twice a week we ordered from here. Food is still very good. I want to support my local Restaurant, I tip the Delivery driver well even though he brings it to me 2 blocks away. But Lately I get bad customer service from this one Rude lady who picks up the phone. Im always nice and she picks up the phone with an attitude already. And Complains when I asked her to repeat my order to me, even though they have made mistakes before with my order. Sick of dealing with this rude lady every time I go in or order, also Promised me credit for charging me for the wrong item and I was un-able to eat it because it was spicy and I have GI issues. They told me they’d credit me for it and never did. Just a shame. I’ll spend my money other places cause they don’t care about you anymore here.
This is our favorite weekend, or for that matter weeknight joint for some good sit down Chinese food. The prices are moderate, waiter service consistently good and portion size great for sharing. The ambience is family friendly and sometimes the chef comes out to greet the clientele... Oh and how could I forget? The sushi is fresh and delicious, being prepared right at the sushi bar near the main dining hall
When I first walked into this restaurant me and my family sat down and looked at the beautiful area around us. We saw the fish and they were so pretty! Already I was happy on how the restaurant is going without even trying the food. I sit down and get my service about 2 minutes after we sit down and get an amazing meal. I ordered just today and the food was great. 100% recommend from me.
Well I guess I won’t be ordering from here again. I’ve ordered a bunch of times from here and never had an issue. Their Lunch menu says $7.95 but she’s trying to tell me it’s $11.25, with no explanation. Its not like I was ordering anything different/extra. I said can you send me an updated menu and she says no she can’t because the price is the same. Soooo why are you charging me more? No explanation besides telling me if I don’t want to order nobody’s forcing me. That’s fine, I’ll give my business elsewhere from now on!
After seeing this advertised on TV a few years ago on our local channel I had to try it. I was very happy I did. I travel a lot and do a lot of back and forth between Brooklyn (where I live) and Northampton, MA (where my family lives and wear I lived part of my childhood). Recently I had ordered food from Paul and Elizabeth’s in Northampton. Loved it. I knew I had to have something similar to that dish I ate in New York City. Although they are two different businesses that aren’t connected they share some of the same Asian dishes. My favorite is the Pan Fried Noodles with Shrimp or the custom sushi with fried salmon, avocado and cream cheese. The chicken wontons are amazing too.
Good quality food!!! My takeout had a large wonton soup staffed with wontons, a perfect roast pork lo mein - just noodles, thinly sliced pork and some sprouts, not messy. Eggplants were delicious as well, I asked for the milder version. We ordered one large soup and two main dishes, and it was enough to feed four. Arranged all dishes in blue and white china, and we had a perfect restaurant meal at home. Forgot to take pics :)
I used to go to this place but today was the last time. There was a new girl that was contemptuous os us and made us feel so bad...When we get there at 8:30, as soon as she sew us told us:“Whe are closing at 9:00 today” (when they usually close at 10:00) and made us leave. We got the filling she didn’t want us there bc was despective with us so I called 1 minute after (when we were in the car) and asked at what time they will be closing since we were planing to go there and the girl who answered us told us at 10:00... i told her so you are not closing at 9:00? Bc one minute before you made us leve bc of “that reason”...so disappointed with this experience 💔
My wife and I were very impressed by the fast and friendly service. We were in a bit of a rush, and they were fully cooperative. We were in and out of there in less than a half hour. The two dishes we had (Chicken with Black Bean Sauce & Buddhas Feast) were excellent! Both were good-sized portions and tasted great! Looking forward to going again when we are in the area.
Prior to the pandemic I enjoyed dining at this restaurant. Last Sunday I decided to pay them a visit and to say how disappointed I was, is an understatement! Im not sure if its because customers arent dining in and are unable to return unsatisfactory meals, if some food establishments are leaving much to be desired. I ordered a mixed fried rice, pad thai, scallion pancakes and dim sum. When we got home, everything was dry and salty! The pad thai looked like some red coloring was applied but no flavor. The scallion pancakes were not the usual, flaky and delicious. Im not sure if you had an off day but please put the same care into preparing your same delicious meals prior to this pandemic. Things will get better, but please dont risk losing customers by cutting corners.
One of my friends who lives in Brooklyn is a frequent customer. He would order or pick up. He moved to another part of Brooklyn & it is no longer in distance of delivery but still would go by when in area to pick up food. He recommended this place for us to eat & we have gone back for 2nd time. Staff & owner are extremely friendly, attentive. Portions of food are generous.
My wife had celebrated her birthday this February ever since then we have become a fan of the food at Chopstick. We have brought friend and family there I had my birthday lunch there too.One of my favorite food is Young Chow Fried Rice. I had introduce my family to this rice, they loved it!!! The price is excellent and the quality is excellent. The portions are enough to take away
Very clean location, high end decor with modestly priced meals. The portions are great, not too big or too small and its absolutely fantastic combined with the.dedicated and generous staff. They have personality and they even throw in lemon scented towels at the end. I recommend this restaurant without a doubt, quick service
Incredibly pleasant place. The staff is friendly and if they ever make a mistake they make up for it. The quality of the food is superb and it holds up to delivery as well. Ive surprised many friends with this place when I recommend it. I dont always order from here because sometimes its more convenient to just walk to my corner Chinese food place but if Im not pressed for time or Im going out for a casual lunch/dinner then this is the place I go to.
I loved this place when I first discovered it about 7 years ago. Now that theyve changed the place and added a bar, I could care less if I ever went back. The food is no where near as good as it was and the service is mediocre at best. I was there a few nights ago, and after the waiter cleared our dishes, he forgot we were there. I would say about 30 to 40 minutes passed before he came back to ask if we wanted dessert. He told us out choices which were just ice cream and creme brulee. We ask for creme brulee and he tells us, as hes standing there, that they ran out. We then ask for mango ice cream and again, standing there, he says they ran out. Why are you offering things you dont have? If I had gone there close to closing time I could overlook certain things. The experience overall was kind of awful
Food here is really good. That’s why I gave them three stars. But what really will keep from ordering from them again is the delivery guy. He is the rudest person I have ever encountered. Twice I ordered , twice he called me and told me to come outside. I tipped him $8 dollars first time and I live only 10minutes away. He made me come outside to his car to get the food. Second time he called me I did not have a chance to go downstairs cuz I couldn’t leave my little sister home alone. He came upstairs screaming and cursing at me, practically throwing food in my face. My neighbors opened their doors because they were surprised to hear a screaming man in our building. He’s disgusting and he is rude and I really think that they should hire a new delivery person, because as long as he’s there , I won’t order from them again
Worst customer experience ever , the guy on the phone was so rude and disrespectful, failure to update your site on what you no longer offer is not your customers fault. Sweet and sour chicken on your site comes with pineapples and veggies However the sent me cut up fried chicken with a plain sauce. The guy that works there when i called was so rude i am actually going to take this further.
The best Chinese food in Brooklyn! Great service and even better management. We got some cocktails and beers from their extensive beverage selection. We started with chicken dumplings and they are awesome. I love pork but the chicken was a great decision. I had the spicy garlic chicken and white rice and my girlfriend had the general tsos chicken. These dishes are always clutch and you can always judge a place by their main dishes. If a Chinese restaurant cant make a good garlic sauce, they should close down. Chopstix exceeds those expectations. Lastly their green tea ice cream was creamy greeny and delicious. I will be coming back for the sushi very soon and very often.
Nice sized place. Interesting decor. Went for dinner and ordered both sushi and Chinese food off the menu. Food came in waves. Nothing came out at the same time and the sushi came out 10 minutes after the main meal was already served so one of our party waited while we ate so our food wouldnt get cold. Place wasnt crowded and we didnt order off the menu hard to prepare items. It happens. So heres the kicker...the bill comes and we pay. We leave a cash tip and charge the meal on a cc. Its a hundred dollar bill so I leave 10 bucks. The service was a little off but nothing crazy. Just didnt warrant a better tip. So we left 10% the waiter comes back and says THE TIP WASNT ENOUGH. We all just smiled at each other and back at the waiter and leave. I debated taking the tip back just to remind the waiter that the tip is optional and not required. But I left it because thats who I am. So when youre going to eat here remember that tips are optional.
Having had multiple good experiences with the Chopstix in Bay Ridge, I thought a comparable experience would be had at its Nostrand Ave sister. Sadly this was not to be the case. Unlike in Bay Ridge, this restaurant is nowhere as classy - TVs on the walls and downtrodden booths are two of the things that you notice when you walk in the door. There is a bridge over a tiny river in the middle of the restaurant, which is a unique touch.Coming in for a late lunch on a Tuesday, there were few other people seated, however our server took a long time to just come and ask for drinks. After asking for 3 waters and a diet coke, the server disappeared finally returning after five minutes, having mixed up the drink order. After our drinks were cleared up, we ordered a few dishes to share for the table. Unfortunately, our server had significant difficulties understanding questions aside from what items were on the menu. Although there were only a few people in the restaurant, our order took over a half hour to come out, with our server nowhere to be found to explain the hold up.The food itself is very good, much like Chopstix in Bay Ridge, however here the portions were very small, especially relative to the price. While the nice quality of the chicken was a plus, the quantity of the meat left much to be desired, particularly at over ten dollars for a plate
My family and I have been regulars here for about three years and they never fail. The service is friendly and the place inside is just beautiful. We love coming for dinners and late lunches. The food is responsibly priced so you wont hurt your pockets and you definitely will be satisfied.
I went on July 20 2018 to purchase 3 combo with pork fried rice the fried rice was hard and dry it was not fresh it was bland and simply had no flavor the egg roll was over fried they needed to stand by quality and freshness the place is nice as far as. The restaurant but the food did not match that
I am so disappointed and angry right now! I order from this place all the time and i always get the same exact order. Today, because Im awfully sick and cant move I decided to order shrimp in lobster sauce (image 1) and seafood soup (image 2). I cannot describe to you how angry I am at what I got. First of all, it looks like I ate seafood soup and threw it up into this can and thats what they brought to me. Secondly; they both taste disgusting, and thirdly there is meat (suspicious looking meat) in both my lobster sauce shrimp and seafood soup. What a waste of money, time, and appetite. I am awfully disturbed and disgusted at what I am seeing. I am In a little bit of shock because I do not understand how someone could serve someone else this to eat... I have nothing else to say but please do not eat here, a customer should never be treated like that nor have such an awful aftertaste after simply tasting the food.
Food is great but Jude the waiter is an extremely angry man. No idea why, but he was slow even with only a few tables. We asked for crispy noodles four times from him and two additional waiters. He so gave us the check well before we were done. That being said, we obviously did not want dessert at that point, especaly after he said he could not give us the menu because it was being changed. He then chucked our to go food on the table, opened still. Also punished us for asking for dessert by taking away our fortune cookies. Disappointed.
Atmosphere/layout: Upon entering, view into the kitchen; small bar in the center of the room to the right, various four and six seat tables for dining; small coin pondStaff: Very friendly and helpful with the menuFood/drinks: Ordered a Boston sushi roll (good); the moo goo gai pan (it was OK); sampled the roast pork with string beans (good)Overall, nothing spectacular but nothing bad either
Ah what can I say about my favorite local Chinese takeout restaurant. I have been ordering and eating here for about 15 years. The food has always been consistently good. Never became sick eating the food. Now with that being said, the horrific customer service must be mentioned. First of all, I order at least four times a week for delivery. Generally the exact same thing. Multiple times they forget a side of a rice, or a bag of noodles, not cooked to specifications etc. Each time I call to have this fixed I am always given a run around by a rude angry Chinese lady who is treating me like someone who is trying to scam them out of a bag of noodles. I been ordering for 15 years at least four times a week now. I dont want to sound racist here but, have you ever heard a Chinese person who speaks bad English acting rude and suspicious of you for asking for your noodles? Its very off putting. Anyway, I hope that angry Chinese lady gets laid and soon. She needs it. My goodness. Thats my review. Later nerds.
Worst sevice ever and disgusting food. I paid $12.00 for beef with broccoli dinner combo. I told then they were delivering to my job and they didnt even send utensils. The order was not how i asked them to make it and when i call back they tell me they dont send utensils at night but they charge you more. Never again.
Food is great in this place, Ive been a customer for years. Any dish you choose on the menu will be awesome. One complaint about service when dinning in, me and my mom went for lunch here, waiter took half our order and then left, even though the restaurant only had two other seated tables at the time, he came back when we flagged him down and we finished our order and ordered drinks. He forgot some of the stuff we ordered we had to remind him. When we were done asked for the check, he brought the check, and I gave him a card for payment, I wanted to leave a cash tip, but realized the cash I had wouldnt be enough, so I left part of the tip on the card and some in cash. I guess he didnt see the cash and then brought back the receipt and says I corrected the tip amount here in the receipt because you left too little and he shows me the receipt and he changed the $5 I wrote in to and $8.... so I tried to explain to him I was leaving most of it in cash because I thought it would be better for him that way..... anyways I thought it was very rude to just go and change the amount I wrote in gratuity himself on my receipt and being that restaurant was empty and he didnt bring some items from our order out he just seemed very careless about bringing good or even barely decent service.
After passing by this restaurant so many times I finally got a chance to try their food.I stopped in for dinner with my family on a saturday evening. The place was busy with people ordering take out at the front as well as some parties staying to dine in.The restuarant is very spacious and has a wooden bridge in the middle of the restaurant that crosses a faux lake.Near the bridge is a sushi counter - but I didnt try any this trip. The staff was friendly overall but I noticed that one waiter was much more helpful than the one that was assigned to our table (Didnt get his name but he wore glasses)The food that we tried was much better than the other chinese restaurants in the area. For an appetizer we had boneless spare ribs which were very good. The spare ribs served to our table where not very fatty and you could definitely tell that they trimmed the excess fat.We ordered separate entrees but shared with each other. I ordered a dish called the happy family which was pork, shrimp and chicken sauteed in a brown sauce. It was very good but I felt that they over cooked the vegetables. I got to try the orange beef which was better than my entree choice but the beef was a little tough to cut. The house special lo mein was simply just ok to me. The portions served are pretty large for the prices charged.I would definitely return to this restaurant but next time I plan to try their general tsos chicken which is their specialty according to the menu
Rude !!!! I ordered food and when delivery got here I asked him to come in and I held my baby in my hand and it was cold. He asked for my card on a $10 order. I said its outside and Im not leaving my baby. He called the restaurant and they said to take the food. I get there are rules, but on a $10 order and Ive ordered from them before with that card! They saw my hands were full with my baby and couldnt make an exception??? DISGUSTING CUSTOMER SERVICE! NEVER AGAIN!!!!!
Definitely the best Chinese food in the area very reasonably priced almost as much as your local Chinese food restaurant, but way better quality food and a bigger variety including sushi. Also a very nice place to go on a date as you wont spend too much money, but will get a very lovely atmosphere and space to talk and eat.
George Wong, I get down on my knees and pray to you, each day, for opening the best Chinese and Japanese place this side of Heaven. Formerly, the great Peking, this gourmet dinner serves the locals, their friends and families and the Northeast hot shots doing important business in the thrilling community of Brooklyn, NY. Recommend the Mock Chicken, tastes like Chicken, but, actually wheat gluten !!! Refills of Coke, a plenty as well as free water.
This place deserves a zero. Horrible customer service. My wife placed an order for pick up, I go all the way there, they tell me that they did not receive an order and now they are closed. So of course they arent gonna make us anything now. No concern of how they can fix the issue what so ever. They basically had the attitude of get out of here already and barely looked at me while we were talking like Im bothering them or something. The person I spoke to was a Chinese girl who looked like a boy. I honestly believe that the order went to her friend that was standing there, because when I asked if that was the order, she said no thats mine, the friend replied. This is how these people do business. Because I mean seriously, how do you not receive an order when we spoke to you and you clearly took the order and we double checked that we called the right place. Clearly something here was not right. Im going to the BBB with this.
ChopStix is a decent chinese restaurant eat in with a good variety of food to choose from. From my experience eating here the food could be a bit better and a tiny bit cheaper. My suggestions for food would be the Singapore Mei Fun and Beef Chow Fun since both almost have that authentic chinese taste that you would get from Chinatown.I would avoid the Noodle soup since its very bland however its a large portion so at least itll fill you up.The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because of its great customer service and the best decor Ive been in for a chinese eat in restaurant. If it was based only on food I would give it a lower score. If you want a great eat in experience this will be the place but if you want authentic chinese food Id suggest somewhere else.

2022-06-26My wife and I shared a Sushi love boat for 2 for our wedding anniversary. It was beyond fresh and my wife really enjoyed it. Go there and sit at the sushi bar and pig out. Miso and egg drop wonton soup were delicious and fresh.

2022-07-17Atmosphere is good, food delicious and prices are ok. But waiting time so long and some portions of dishes are ridiculous small for prices that they cost. Was working just one waiter.

2022-06-19Every single thing tasted amazing. No flaws. Edamame tasted fresher than the other restaurants I ate in (the other one I ate in tasted like synthetic plastic, whereas this one tastes normal and fresh). Kani Salad was amazing, and the rolls blew flavor in my mouth. They put a lot of effort into this, and the waiter was nice too. 10/10 and underrated honestly. You can even enjoy some TV while you dine, and prices are affordable too. Edited because I have no flaws, just compliments that I made in my head after making this review.

2022-08-12My husband has been going to this restaurant for years now. It used to be great but it appears it’s slowly reclining. This is the third time in a row they have forgotten the rice with my order. Also, today I found a fly in my rice, way to ruin my appetite.

2022-06-11I made the mistake of trying this place again hoping it would be better… but just lost 20 dollars into the garbage. In what kind of world does shrimp broccoli comes in a clear sauce and not brown? 🤦🏻♀️ and also expensive which I wouldn’t mind if the food was good.I had to give this to my dog because he likes shrimps but I was even thinking not giving it to him.

2022-08-12Little by little this place fell off. Dine in is still okay to a extend but their takeout is horrible. They always make a mistake with something. It’s not the cleanest inside either. They where in their prime 10 years ago now I have to look else where for a good Chinese spot

2022-08-08After several years of pleasant dining, EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED and DISSATISFIED: Dumplings served were half cooked; Happy Hour limited to their choices of cocktail and not all available; fried sea scallops 99% panko covering 1% baby bay scallop if not crabmeat substitute; mix drink served was half a normal drink. NEVER returning.
