I liked the food I liked the ambiance and everything but felt like the staff were talking a lot more than attending the customers felt like it wasn’t as professional. Had to hand the cards to them. Secondly I split it with my date and they charged him full amount and charged me half. They didn’t completely check and charged 50 extra. Seems very unprofessional.
One of the best Indian restaurant on Lexington Ave. I must say DUM BIRYANI it comes on hot pot is the best and CHOTE MIYA was new for me it was with different kabab and tasty and GOBI TAKA TIN is the must tryTalking about drink cocktail was the best part of it.I would love to visit again and try other food.Service was good and server were friendly.
Dont go there expecting Indian, go there expecting Indian Fusion. That said, it was bleh. If you expect soemthing to taste sweet and savory, itll come out just sweet. Curry like? Just salty. What was upsetting though, in my attempt to save the restaurant on their fees from Uber, Grubhub or the likes, I ordered directly from them. I didnt get a total so I went on the app to see how much I should expect. It then appeared that the prices on Ubereats is much lower ($10) than their site so I contacted them to check the total and indeed it cost more to order direct. I mentioned it to them and they said, Oh sorry we cant do that, they offer their own discount. Cancel it and risk food being spit on, or take it and now having to leave an unhappy review because I overpaid for not so good food.
Murray hill is the go-to place for indian food in the city. We were trying to go to their sister restaurant dhaba, which is across the street, but they dont have enough outdoor so they directed us here instead. The menu was smaller compared to dhaba but food quality was rly good. The garlic naan was everything i expected. I ordered Kashmiri Dahi Murgh (yogurt chicken) - it was very creamy and delicious and almost like alfredo. The smoked eggplant (baigan bharta) was super flavorful and the eggplants just absorbed all the spices and herbs. We also ordered samosa and mango lassi, which were great too. It was the best samosa i’ve had in a long time and great to have it served hot and fresh. Would definitely recommend this place if you are craving some good indian food
I’m a huge dessert person. There rasmalai is great. Their rice pudding is very bland. It taste like rice, milk, and sugar. No added spices in it. If your reading this, please do more with that. What you put in the rasmalai can be placed in the kheer and it would be so much better. Try coconut milk, add them spices, add more sugar. Disappointing, wasted $10.
Its a great spot for some south asian food and drinks, we tried the lentils, spicy chicken and biryani and weren’t disappointed. The food is definitely on the richer side, so more of a comfort food choice than a health-conscious one. Ambiance is cool too. All in all a great experience.
I have been here twice now and can say that their food is pretty delicious and fresh. However be careful what you order as not all items are as good.I’ve had the naans (garlic and plain) and the paranthas and all are excellent. The rice is too. I’ve had two types of their chicken - one is the saffron chicken korma which has a deep buttery light yellow gravy and is great if you’re looking for something mildly spicy. However if you’re looking for something more spicy- have their South Indian style chicken curries - you will literally lick the plates clean. And have them with the parantha. In the veggie options I’ve had the samosas which are fresh and crisp. I’ve also had the malai kofta which is mildly flavoured. The item I do not recommend at all is the chapli kebab. An authentic chapli kebab is so soft that when it reaches you, it looks more like mince, has a mild yet sharp flavour and strong aroma and melts in your mouth. The kebab here looked and tasted like the frozen kebabs sold in Jackson Heights. Hard, not tender, lacking flavour and more resembling a beef patty. So best to avoid. The good thing is the place is halal. Service is quick and good. Worth visiting.
I never ever ate Indian food I went to eat with my sister and her friend from Indiana she knows what food to get .OMG the best food in the world for me its that good. I highly truly recommend this place if you want to eat good and delicious.there was one particular tasty food. For me is a special one that is shrimp with a tasty source and rice I dont know the name of the rice but ITS so good. Its like they say you never judge a book by its cover.I give it A+ 100% its great place.and 👍 👍 on the waitress and the waiter. I think even the owner they are super sweet and so polite.Very Happy happy customer.
I absolutely love this place, I discovered it when I worked near by. Amazing lunch specials with lots of food, but nothing like sitting down to dinner with the fun waiters, sizzling cauliflower- always get that! I go for the vindaloo as a heat fix bc I love spicy food and the flavors are sooo yummm
4.5Given the reasonable lunch price, I’ve given this place a 5. Manhattan is by and large disappointing in its food scene — expensive and not that delicious. This is the first Indian restaurant that I liked — and it is cheaper than the other craps that I’ve tried. Definitely returning.
Prepare to be disappointed with the tunde kabab which are NOT tunde kabab at all! Real tunde kababs are melt in mouth but these we just dry cakes of meat that had to be cut with knives. On top of that you get only two pieces for $15!!! What a rip off!The rest of the a la carte food was good, usual Indian fare, should be $$$ instead of $$ considering the quality of food.
I feel bad for having to write this review because I really did have high hopes for this restaurant. My boyfriend and I called around 6:50 PM to place an order for pick up. We were told it would be ready in 25 minutes. We showed up around 7:20 to 7:30 PM but they said our order was not ready yet and it would be a few minutes. We waited and waited and followed up a couple times and we eventually got our food around 8 PM. They said it was taking a long time because there was a large order and they were cooking the food together or something, which honestly didn’t make much sense to us but we went along with it. What doesn’t make sense is that by the time we got home our food was lukewarm even though we live four blocks from the restaurant. I think what really happened was they did not start making our food until we showed up which is why it took so long to eventually get our food but I guess we will never know. It wasted a lot of our time tonight and we ended up with very average lukewarm Indian food. We will not be going back.
We weren’t super impressed by this place. The tap water reminded us of toilet water. The samosas were okay, nothing special. The tamarind chutney wasn’t very good, though the mint chutney was great. Our curries were just okay, as was the naan. The drinks were strong, at least.
DO NOT TAKE OUT!!! Only Dine in for fresh food. The service is only good for dine in.I have ordered take out . The kababs not fresh . The curry only had bones no gravy or meat. The lamb chops were so small finished with in one bite.I’m not going to put picture up of the food.I’m giving 1 star for the naan as they were fresh.I called to get in touch with manager the employees just said manager is not available. I guess there really is no upper management to look into customer complaints.Dine in experience has always been much better.
I love Indian food and used to eat at this place but something has changed. Terrible delivery (2+hrs) and inedible food. Not flavorful. Paneer tikka was neon and watery. Who puts broccoli in a korma? According to my Indian wife, Broccoli doesn’t grow in India. If you want to ruin your eventing, order from Chote Nawab. If I could give negative stars, I would.
I have to be honest with you if I had read the few reviews that are honest before I ordered I never would have - I have actually never have tasted worse Indian food and all of my life! A lot of the reviews suggest that the takeout is trash; and that you only get decent food if you dine in when they know you are there presently eating – and that is telling of a horrible philosophy from a business in the food service industry in New York City!even the rice pudding was so terrible that after putting one spoon of it in my mouth I threw the rest out; and we are talking about me thinking that this was in a decent neighborhood on 28th St. and ordering $40 worth of food to carry home with me and tipping at the 22% level-unbeknownst to me, that I was about to have the worst food I’ve ever had in my life that is only worthy to be thrown in the trash! The food is honestly so bad that I think this place should not be in the restaurant business any longer!
Absolutely amazing and a wonderful experience. Beautiful family owned friendly business that I will go every time I come to the city. Amazing and authentic at very reasonable prices. The lunch special they gave us so much. Please come and support this business as times are tough for family owned businesses in the city. Perfect spot for Indian cuisine. Loved every bite!!!
Evening of 14th August 2021, we visited Chote Nawab, a restaurant where we have been multiple times and really like the food. The food was very tasty on this trip like all other times. We opted for water to accompany a lot of dishes that we had ordered. On asking for a refill of the water at the end of the meal. The server poured water from a jug and in one of the glasses he poured a live COCKROACH along with water!!Just shows food hygiene measures are not up to scratch, to say the least. There was no onsite manager at the time this took place, as it was near closing time. The staff present knew what had happened and were apologetic. They said that one of the newer members of staff had been lax with procedures and that is why this had happened. All in all, very off putting experience.I liked the food until my husband found a cockroach in the water glass. Could have been the food as well.We will most likely avoid Chote Nawab for a long time after this incident.
I keep a list of places to dine in when I have visitors from out of state. Chote Nawab is on this list! The food is delicious, authentic and fresh. You can get it at great price too if you get there between 12:00-3:00 PM for the lunch special. Every meal from that menu comes with Naan bread and the famous lentil soup (I dip with bread like Indians do, yummy). We ordered SAAG Ghost, Madaras Lamb and Chicken Beriani and paid ~$14.. excellent deal for excellent food
We were very disappointed with the food. This is the first time we did a pick up instead of eating-in and it was really baddd food .... We were told that the chef has changed but based on the overall ordering and food experience, it seems like the whole management has changed ....To start with, the restaurant website didnt work for taking our order online... On calling the restaurant, we couldnt understand the staff members accent ...The Goat dish had all the bones , NO meat whatsoever!!! The lamb chops were the smallest of chops we have ever seen at any restaurant. They looked to be cut in half, so a single (normal) Chops serving serves two separate servings ... Biryani rice were old and crispy as if they were refried/reused....Overall, it left a really bad taste in our mouth and we wouldnt be ordering here again ...Also, after their site didnt work for online orders, On ordering through phone, we were told that well get a 10% discount but later the supervisor called and kept insisting that he just cant do it. His staff has made a mistake...
One of my favorite Indian restaurants in Curry Hill. Been here countless times. Great food and service for the price. Everything is seriously good. I recommend trying the non familiar Indian dishes. The curries and biryanis are seriously finger licking good. End your meal with a sweet pan!
Loved this place. Food was fresh and delicious and the wait staff were super friendly and helpful. I definitely recommend the seafood curries, great flavours. Staff are doing everything they can to be Covid safe.I was also there when we were hit by a surprise thunderstorm and the staff immediately reacted and came to the rescue!Enjoy :)
Been going here since the pandemic started because of the outside seating. Our favourites here are the lunch special Tikka Masala and Murg Saag. They come with naans which are divine, very hard to stop eating them! A small pot of dal and curried vegetables also included. But frankly theres so much food its hard to finish it all. So come on an empty stomach! They have quite a large menu of other items, but we inevitably go for our favourites simply because theyre so yummy.Price is very reasonable and service is good.
Love Indian food, hate explosive indigestion. Chote Nawab is one of the very few places where I have enjoyed the former and avoided the latter. That says something about their ingredients. Also, while their menu is pretty standard, their take on them are unique and nuanced. The vindaloo was delicious, as was the lamb biryani. I recommend!
I cant guarantee the authenticity of the place as Im not to oooo familiar with Indian food but Ive been to India and love Indian food in general. They provide unlimited Naan and the rice is shared family syke which I liked. The tikki masala was loved by my friends. The chutney was delicious and I got chicken briyani which was really good too! The sauce that came with the briyani was interesting. Again, idk the authencitity of the sauce. But Ioved it. The service was great and interior was great too. I just dont have any complaints!
Havent been to a bad Indian restaurant in a while. Especially not one where the food was bad and pricey at the same time. Their food lacked flavor- salt or spices- so the only heat we felt was in our wallets. Staff sometimes could be inattentive but its the food that really really really needs to improve- considering there are so many great Indian restaurants all around it. Maybe its whitewashed but come on- the nearby cheaper Pakistani place across the street has way better tasting food for literally half the price.
Taste good, and portions are huge. Great service and food comes out pretty quickly. Cost is great considering the amount of food and how good the food is.Ive had a lot of Indian cuisine, this place is pretty close to authentic and not too much americanized. Came here during lunch by myself.
Great food and excellent service: Staffs service was excellent, and foods was delicious, didnt take long for the food to be on table. when my group were there, the restaurant was packed. Clean western friendly vibe with beautiful Indian art on the wall. tip as u may, didnt see any extra charges on my receipt but i did leave a generous tip for the receive my group and I received. Only one flaw: washroom needs a make over. so id rate you 4/5 for that. Keep up the great work staffs. I shall recommend to others for sure.
We stumbled upon to this place while searching for a decent meal after midnight. We chose this because it seemed to be the better decor and had better ambiance than the few nearby places we looked at. Service was good and quick. Staff was polite, friendly and efficient. We ordered a Lamb Biryani and Chicken Karahi. I was expecting an average food at almost the last hour of the business but to my pleasant surprise food was fresh and delicious. We have had a good experience with one meal we had here.
I love Indian food and I have spent a life time eating excessively spicy meals. Me and a friend had a meal here towards the end of their lunch time. I assumed that was the reason we were rushed into ordering our meals. The food came out ten minutes after ordering and it was eye watering hot/lacked flavor. The waiters never offered us water when our glasses were empty even though the place only had two tables with people. Five minutes after receiving our food the check was given to us. The table that was finishing up when we arrived got their check ten minutes after we did. Me and my friend felt unwelcomed in this restaurant.
Weekend is coming. After a hectic work week, we wanted to find a good Indian restaurant to cool it off. I was initially hesitant to try this place because I kept insisting on not having lunch combos as they are often made in bulk with a compromise on the taste. But with today’s experience, I stand corrected.I ordered a Malai Kofta combo, which was served with Naan, Dal and Cabbage Curry. After a *very* long time, I had an authentic Malai Kofta that was just perfect. Hold on - I never knew that a Cabbage Curry could taste so good. For just $11, with the brilliant taste and large portions, this place is a steal. The staff were very kind, and the place was not so packed in the afternoon. Overall, it was a great experience. It took about 25 minutes for them to serve the food, which could have been faster. The restrooms can be maintained better.
Been here twice and overall the food and service were good. Ordered the Meat Kabab Platter lunch special, which came with cabbage, spinach, dal, rice, and naan. The portions here are pretty generous and will leave you satisfied.Definitely will be back to try the other lunch specials they offer.+ Lunch specials from 11:30-3pm (dine in or take out) for $8-$12.
Very Tasty food I am very satisfied, I will recommend to everyone who loves Indian food. They have little different method to serve lunch instead buffet. From menu card you need to order one main Sabji/dish along with that they serve you naan/bread, rice, dal makhani and one cabbage Sabji. Ambience is simple but food was tasty and service was good. I will highly recommend to everyone on avg you will spend $14-15 for lunch.
OMG... the best East Indian Restaurant I have been to in a while. Highly recommended by my friends Milla & Ali. I recommend the buffet for first timers. You get a chance to truly sample Chote Nawah.Thank you for the glass of ice water served with slices of fresh ginger. Precious memory.
One of my favorite Indians on Curry Hill. Great value lunch (incl. Saturday and Sunday). The only thing I would like to point out (and this applies to most Indian Restaurants) is that you should go a bit later for lunch. Way too often the curries are not think enough (to watery) when you go early (before 1pm).
Loved this place even more than its sister restaurant across the street, Dhaba. We got a sauteed cauliflower app that was amazingly flavorful, the chole (chickpeas), the okra, and the extra spicy chicken curry (I forget the name, but its in the same area of the menu as the vindaloo). All amazing. The chicken is even spicier than vindaloo (the server warned us) with more of a pure heat and no vinegar tang. The more I ate, the more I wanted. The restaurant is a bit tight on space, but otherwise the ambiance was nice too.Cant wait to go back!
The food is good. The waiters need a little organization after the order has been taken, tried to get a refill and no one knew who to bring it until I got the water guy. I am not sure if the Chicken 65 is right, never had it the way they prepared it, but it was interesting.
Very good food in large quantities at decent prices. Both North Indian and South Indian food is available and for lunch Curry is served with rice, roti( Indian bread) and one additional vegetable Curry. Both alcoholic and non alcoholic Indian drinks like lassi are available at very decent prices.
The worst experience of an Indian restaurant in New York! I tried this place on a Monday eve but got back very bad memories of this restaurant. We were having our food and the waiters asked us to vacate our table just because they wanted to use our table for accommodating some 12 new guests.(obviously they saw a big fish to catch there) That was really pathetic!!! A big turn off.. .. And when we said No they just went away without any apology or anything. So unprofessional!!!A big thumbs down to this place!!
We went here famished and ordered biriyani and lamb Madras and roomali roti. And biriyani and lamb Madras were good though roomali roti didnt look as big and as we expected. It was made of wheat. But still it was good. I can give all five stars to the staffs who were very nice to us from the beginning till we left, very polite.
Good Indian food, decent ambience, great location and very average drinks. For food, do try their tunde lamb kebabs as apps, and garlic naan with chicken tikka masala. The gulab jamun and Ras Malai are very delicious. Cocktails are poorly made and youre better off trying a regular whisky/vodka straight up than experimenting here. Service levels are good!
We went here with a group of 7 people, and were fairly quickly seated. Even before ordering, they already gave us those crispy things (not sure what they are called) with a few sauces to munch on. The food itself is pretty good, and the service is very attentive and very nice. As the evening progressed, this place became very crowded and loud.
Went for lunch. They flipped out a lunch menu. It was hot ... but they didn’t have the aircon on ... now that’s so typical!! Goat Biryani with bones: $16.5. I asked for sparkling water ... food was fine. They got the soda water from their soda fountain on a bottle. I asked for the check when done ... they charge me $20.50 for the Biryani and $6 for the fountain soda water! I asked for the menu again ... they were reluctant. I was stubborn. Got the menu and pointed at them the listed Biryani price. Then they said it was a mistake! I knew it was no mistake... I didn’t even feel like asking them why they charged $6 for soda poured from fountain... I waited for the right change of my $50 bill ... not seeing any prompt action I asked for $20 back & walked out. Will NEVER be back there again. I thought I will let it go ... then, I thought I ought to post this everywhere...,
First and foremost, we had over the top service. We were greeted and seated immediately, and our waiter was very attentive to our drinks and orders. He made great suggestions to our meal, and even though we had too much food, it was a great variety and really delicious. The food itself was very flavorful and spicy without being too spicy. We ordered rice, naan, the chickpea entree and the vegetarian daal entree. We both preferred the daal, but the chickpeas came in a close second. Truthfully I ended up mixing it all together on my plate, and it was even good when I added the appetizer sauces on top of the dishes. Our waiter explained the menu in detail, and helped us choose our appetizer. The Indian Chips and Salsa that was put out immediately as we sat down was surprisingly good. The waiter noticed which sauce we favored then brought us extra without us asking-very thoughtful and thought out.My water glass was continually filled, which is always a sign of great service. Also, the restaurant was bustling when we first arrived, which gave it good energy. Things started slowing down as we were leaving around 10:00.The waiter was kind enough to package up our leftovers to go after inquiring if we wanted them.We were very happy with the food. The prices were really good, especially since the portions were ample, hot, and flavorful. I will be back.
Did not want to wait 25 minutes for Bhatti buffet down the block so tried this place for lunch special. Had the lamb saag- came with nice cabbage and fresh naan bread- the Lamb dish was very good and I loved the cabbage that came with it. had to wait for the bread but it came nice and hot- just made fresh- not as good value as Bhatti on the next block but the food was delish and just right for me- not too spicy- decent atmosphere
Had a take out dinner and had chosen the restaurant almost at random. We had really low expectations but were we really surprised... The goat biryani reminded us of home and the Kashmiri Dahi Murg was just the right amount of sweet and creamy.... Tundeys kawabs were soft and melt in mounth but lacked the butteriness and flavors... All in all awesome experience
Ive been meaning to try this new spot on Curry Hill since it opened last year. Ive heard only good things from friends and every time I passed by it looked very clean, modern and always full of people. Finally got a chance to go for dinner with my family this past Sunday and boy was it worth the wait. Before I even comment on the food let me say that the waitstaff was absolutely impeccable. The manager came over to ensure that we were enjoying ourselves, water refills were copious and best of all, our waiter Prasad was very attentive - always with a warm smile on his face, he took the time to answer all of our questions, recommend great dishes and made our visit particularly enjoyable. Lets not forget the food however. If the service wasnt the reason for my returning to Chote Nawab, the food certainly would be - literally every dish we ordered was a pleasure. We ordered the following for appetizers: Murgh Malai Tikka, Aloo Paneer Bharwan, and a chicken/curry leaf special whose name I forget. Each of these came sizzling hot in a mini cast iron skillet and just melted in your mouth while bursting with flavor. I highly recommend any of the grilled meats served this way as an appetizer (under the heading Non Veg on the menu). For our mains we ordered: Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Rogan Josh, and the Shrimp Kadai Khana with 2 orders each of Naan and Basmati Rice. Portions were generous, flavor was bursting and again it was all served expediently and with a smile. I highly recommend Chote Nawab - its a shining addition to the neighborhood.
Not a good Indian Food and service. We order Malai Kofta, Chicken Tikka Masala and Lassi. None of the items test like authentic indian dish. They were tasteless. Lassi was not lassi but it was thinner than buttermilk with salt and no cream at all. I will not recommend this restaurant to any one. It was a disappointment. Place is disaster. Small tables crammed in small area to increase occupancy for their business. City of New York should check out real occupancy requirement for this restaurant. Every time any customer (eater) wants to go around or any server has to serve, we have to move our chair or stand up to give access either to servers or eaters. Dont waste your money and precious time. This restaurant does not deserve business at all. It is nice to see reviews on line before you go to restaurant and that is what we did. But it did not workout good at all for us. We saw this restaurant review on line and it shows good. But food quality is no good at all.
I love the decor at this place. Its so indie retro, just a rally fun place to eat.The staff is super friendly and the food is fantastic. I am a big fan of indian food and have had my fair share of good and not-so-good experiences and Chote Nawab has to be on my top indian spots in the city along with Dhaba down the street. The prices are very reasonable. Highly recommended.
Decent place to taste Indian food. The place is a little crampy, but maintained well. The Lamb Madras was a hit with our group. Their Naan options are also really good, we tried the Butter naan and the Cheese naan. The Chicken Vindaloo however ended up tasting tangy rather than spicy.Overall good place to visit with your Non-Indian friends.Arun
Walking into the Indian cuisine street, it becomes very difficult for a visitor to decide to enter. All look alike with behaviour, hospitality, ambiance etc while similar menu on the card. But I thank myself for deciding to enter Chhoti Nawab with family and ordered for Veg Biriyani.“It was after decades I witnessed amazing but traditional presentation of the dish served on the table. I went crazy to open up the Roti cover- Wow! It was so aromatic that could not resist to fill the spoon and directly put in mouth. Though it was TOO hot but with perfect and real taste. The BIRIYANI I had about 45 years ago and was looking for similar preparation and taste, since then. Ultimately I got it with Chhota Nawab. Thanks to the Nawab regardless of Chhote for my concluding the forage of Biriyani. Other preparations too, tasted excellent. Regards!
Food was delicious. In appetizers we ate Gobi Tak Tin and lucknowi paneer tikka. Both were very delicious. We also order aloo tikki which was OK. In main course we order chole, Eggplant Kothimeera and paneer malai marke. Chole were ordinary but eggplant and paneer curries were awesome.
Decent place with some good food, but bad-ish service (ish because there seemed to be some caring waiters too). Note: They do some meal deals that might save you money - so, speak to them before ordering. Also, dont bother with the Pineapple/Coconut cocktail - it leaves a very bad aftertaste.
I often dine at Chote Nawab, as I live close by, and always leave very satisfied with my meal. The service is consistently above par, and waiters are very happy to walk you through the menu if you dont understand something on it.Order the garlic or paneer naan, both are mouthwatering, and the chicken tikka masala. For vegetarians I recommend the Saag Paneer, obviously paired with naan of your choice.
The quantity of the food was less for the price they charged. The waiters were rushing us, even though there were other customers who were gonna take longer. My friend was the only person left at the Table with his plate, and when he picked his glass for drinking water, the waiter picked his plate and left, Even though he wasnt done.Overall bad experience.
I really enjoyed the food at Chote Nawab! I had the Chicken Kashmiri and Daal Gosht. I was most pleasantly surprised that they had the Roomali Roti - a giant, paper thin bread - folded like a handkerchief (hence the name Roomali) - it was quite well done too. I will go back to Chote Nawab again to sample other dishes.
So their lunch special ONLINE is $11 for delivery. Then you add tax tip delivery, it goes up to $13.$2 bucks more.I ordered chicken tikka masala lunch, came with Dhal and rice and naan. NO appetizer, No Dessert.Food came cold but they promptly sent me a new one.It is really good, but for the price difference, perhaps add dessert ??
My friend and I went to Chote Nawab restaurent along with a couple on August 22nd around 11:30 AM for lunch. We were having a wonderful experience in NY as we came from Florida but we were totally dumbstruck after we made a worse decision to visit Chote Nawab.I think all of you will agree that the quality of food is secondary. Whats important is the behaviour and environment in a restaurentTruly speaking the interiors were preety good but our experience were bad after we got settled in our table. All of the waiters appeared to be bit rude ( a gentle smile was definately too far to expect from them). The so called Mr Manager, not sure why he was such an xxxx . He was too rude and behaved very very unprofessionally. He was getting irritated at every action of us.Let me mention some of our action, which may have triggered his rude behaviour.1. When we asked for water he was angry2. When we kept a bag-pack near our legs, just outside the table. He could have politely told us to keep inside our table - (Not sure what happened to this Mr Rude D Manager)3. When we asked something about the menu options and lot others which I cant recall right now.4. Oh how can I forget (one of our friend was in a fast, (Savaan Saturday), we told them about her fast and she wont be eating anything... but again hearing this they became like Angry birds5. When our friend who was in a fast, was eating some fasting food.. they didnt missed a chance to be rude and with full of attitude told her not to eat.**** It is fine Mr Manager if you dont allow the food from outside but you could have told in a better way. I am not sure if your are born like this by default or if you got some scoldings that morning from your spouse but whatever is the reason, you spoilt our day. :( :(Its not only you even other waiters were behaving in your style, seems like you were the principal of a very strict army school and other waiters are learning from you..Anyways forgot to mention about the food.I will not comment about non-veg items as we only ordered veg items that day.The food were definately below below average.. but I dont have my guts to have a try to the non veg items because i dont want to spoil my mood because of the so called Manager and so called Chote Nawab. We are from different parts of India... Mumbai, Kolkata and Delhi but none of us liked the food :( :(It was REALLY A POOR, UNPLEASANT and a MISERABLE experience :( :( :(We realized that we were in a state of shock just after coming out from the restaurent. But after we went to madame tussauds we started recovering and enjoying rest of our trip. Please think twice or may be thrice before planning to make a visit there.
They charged us for rice (4.5 dollars each bowl) and didn’t let us know that the portion was enough to share. Even worse, we paid for two bowls of rice but later found out that they only wrapped one of them in the to-go box. This is infuriating because the rice isn’t cheap at all.Btw, the service here is extremely slow and hierarchical, having only one junior waiter serving everyone and all the seniors hanging around while only those senior ones can take orders and give checks.
This small prince as the name implies has a wide range of the traditional menu that you would find at an Indian restaurant as well as some regional dishes. Spicing profile is commensurate with one would expect for Indian food that have been tailored for a more inexperienced palate.
Ordered the lunch menu item: Butter PaneerIncluded are the following:Rice, naan, dal, and cabbage. The rice was stale. Maybe a prepared the previous day. Dried cooked and bunched together rice was visible in the bowl. The rice was also fairly hard. Freshly prepared rice is not hard. The Naan was freshly made. The cabbage was nothing worth noting. The Dal was not worth nothing. The Butter Paneer was average.Cost of lunch was $10.50 excluding tax.
A decent indian restaurant. Its expensive compared to others in the area. The food isnt any special compared to the shops around.I have been here a few times with friends for lunch and dinner. I cant really recommend any one particular dish.the lunch comes with various sides such as daal and veggies.
Food was not bad , took them 1 full hour to prepare it (which is fine since they make is fresh-ish) I had to wait the hour away from the fan on a hot NY eve with flat soda which was room temperature and totally flat despite requesting a second time , service needs much improvement.
Hi , today i came to the restaurant, no words to express, the restaurant was neat and tidy , service was outstanding, and the food OMG , it was owsum after soo long time we had best biryani , and takda daal , the presentation was super , highly recommended, I’m visitng new york , we are from other state , i wish they should open in washington . Thanks
In all my years of dining out,I have never seen such a lack or ignorance of social skills. We dined there this evening and to my utter dis belief, got a big fat fly in a cup of tea...we were shown no remorse..not an apology or anything!!!Being that we hate scenes,we left and paid a 20%tip!!!

2021-12-25Good things first.. very nice ambiance, clean and well mannered staffs. Options for liquor is also available. All the food is served in very appealing manner. Now the actual taste part.If you are an Indian food fan and taste is your thing, this place is not for you. I came to this place after reading few good reviews and looking at their menu (admittedly, they do have a very nice food collection) but taste was not that I expected. That said, I would not recommend this place for who is looking for an authentic Indian food taste.

2022-04-10I had seen videos of this Indian halal restaurant in Tiktok. Was not that sure about it if I want to try it out. I had a appointment near this restaurant & thought let’s give it a try. Looks nice & clean, small restaurant tho. Stuff were nice. Now the main part the food; I love our kinda food & I was very disappointed. Altho the presentation was pretty but the taste not so good! I ordered chicken 65, shrimp Nawabi, & kheer. Altho shrimp Nawabi came with nan, rice, mixed vegetable dish, beans. Still only thing I liked was the chicken 65. Price was reasonable. And yes as a Muslim I didn’t like the fact that they serve alcohol, but I do understand that it’s good for business! Including some pictures just to show how everything looks.Because it was very small it was almost full & I just didn’t want to other customers so don’t have too many snaps.

2022-04-23Not authentic Indian food, Tundey kebab were so hard, butter chicken is not true authentic one, malai chicken tikka was not done properly. Overall an average Indian restaurant food.Try bhatti restaurant few steps down the road. They have beat galauti kebab and good food.

2021-07-18I have eating here several times and I always walk home very satisfied with my meal, great flavor, vegetarian and vegan options, large portions for a good value. They provide an excellent costumer service, fast and attentive servers. Ill definitely will keep on coming back!

2022-01-16So much food for their lunch menu! Ordered Aloo Gobi (10$) and with that came rice, a spinach thing, a red lentil thing, and two naans. Great price for great quantity and taste!

2021-09-19Honestly… that was way too expensive. Great lassi but that’s not carrying the substandard biryani and palak paneer.Usually Indian food is at least salted - this had none at all. The butter chicken was good though.I gave it two stars because the service was great and the atmosphere was nice.Bhooti mengha tha pure khanne kile. Butter chicken aur lassi zabardasst tha. Magar Baki Shaun kuch meh namak Kama tha.Hum doh sitarah degree kuy keh service Bhooti acha tha. Magar hum khabi wapas nahi ayenge.

2022-02-21We lunched there last weekend for the first time since before the pandemic and the menu seemed bigger but the food was just as great as before. I had garlic naan and sag paneer and they were delicious, my wife had a lamb dish and cauliflower and also yummy. Good service and we brought food home wrapped carefully in foil. Highly recommend.

2022-07-25Mediocre at best. Popadums were server floppy and stale. The food was okay. Ambience is weird. They have lights facing right towards you on the wall. Perhaps the owners would want to review this. The service was good. Oh yes, the biryani was nice but the chicken pieces in it were quite big and chunky.
