On Memorial Day I wanted a hamburger for me and my girl friend. I was then told by the young man at the counter that they stopped taking orders at 1:30 pm. It was 10 minutes to 2:00 pm I informed the young man I am a Marine Corps Veteran. All I got was a stink eyed look so I left never to return again even if t h ey gave it tp me for free.
Super disappointed. Saw ads about this place for sandwich week and it looked amazing. Ordered for lunch and Was told to give them 20-30 mins. Perfect. Arrive 25 minutes later. Was given the wrong order. Got to my car, realized, and went back up to the window. The cashier was apologetic and asked what I ordered again, so I told her the order. She said “just two more minutes.” Fast forward another 30 minutes later I’m still standing there along with another person that was there even longer than I was. Everyone seemed frustrated. Finally, over an hour after ordering, I get my order. Hard, dehydrated bread and missing multiple advertised ingredients. Honestly a huge waste of time for what I received. Would not come here again or recommend it to anyone. I understand the world is short staffed, but to have someone wait over an hour for a simple sandwich—especially when there was only one other customer waiting— leads me to believe there’s a much deeper level of dysfunction going on inside. Don’t waste your time.
The food is excellent, but the service I experienced was very disappointing. I ordered a hero and a burrito online and showed up an hour later, went to the window and told the young lady I was here to see if my order was ready. Frankly, I didnt mind waiting an extra few minutes (though I thought it was kind of odd), but she simply disappeared. I think she may have forgotten that I was at the window. A few minutes later, another young lady asked if I could be helped, and I told her I was checking if my order was ready, and she checked and came back quickly, informing me it would be a a little while longer, and without hesitation immediately asked the people behind me how they could be helped. I thought that was a bit rude, but I understood the urgency. They tried to place their order and were informed to come back in 5 minutes. They had been waiting there 15 minutes to begin with. We all just sort of shook heads in frustration, and they left. I have no doubt this place has some great food and is well known for it; it is legendary in the area. But the service aspect needs some serious deficiencies corrected. Just a simple communication, even a text or a way the people at the window can know which order people are talking about. I eventually got the order about 25 minutes later, after I got the text on my phone, went to the windows, and they couldnt find it. I am not sure if they are severely understaffed, or having a bad day, but it was disappointing. I will also add that the people taking the orders seemed very stressed and devoid of any joy in their work. This could just be the way the world is these days, but as a paying customer, I have a hard time convincing myself to recommend this place.
The sandwiches and the other foods were flying out the window during a tornado alert. People were still coming and the Phone was still ringing. That staff was all on their toes cooking during the hail hitting the wall. I enjoyed my to die for chicken cutlet sandwich as soon as the alert was over. That food is the best. You will not regret offering here.
I would love to give 5 stars because I’ve been to this spot 3 times total. First 2 times we’re such a good experience but the 3rd was kinda ruff, maybe I came at a bad time around 4:45pm-5pm But the guy who took my order specifically told me before charging my card they make everything fresh to order, whatever. I waited around 20 minutes for my order 2 hero’s uncle Joe, traditional parmigiana & paddy fries. The fries were so hard and gross I threw them out and the ravioli on the uncle Joe was so hard I had to pull it off of the hero. Will come here again but defiantly not around dinner time.
I called on. Sunday around 12:30 and they sounded busy, I had an unexpected large group coming over (family and friends and players coming back from watching my daughter play college fall lax locally) and asked if they could make a platter to feed about 20 people. Needless to say they said yes and we picked it up at 2:30. The wraps were so good!!! I can’t say enough good things about the people here (and their prices are amazing). Thank you!!
Food is great service is painfully slow. Walked up and waited an hour for 1 sandwich. Next visit i Called in ahead of time and still waited 45 min for French fries...its not that there were a ton of people ordering its that there were 6 employees inside standing around instead of working. On both occasions I was asked multiple times what my order was again and then given what were clearly made up nonsensical excuses as to why it wasnt ready yet. Its a shame they cant get this part figured out bc the food has always been excellent. Any time Ive gone.
I passed this place 1000s of times during the years when it was Moellers but never stopped to check it out. I ordered The Captain Wrap and when I received my order, I couldnt get over how heavy the sandwich was ( unlike many other deli shops) The sandwich was packed with plenty of meat and was really delicious!
😑😑😑😔😔😔🌧🌧🌧Went today 10/26/21 for lunch and gotta tell you we was very disappointed.. today was raining and they dont let you inside so you have to order at the window which is fine the window has a awning. but the menu is in the rain so you have to stand in the rain to read menu. We ordered the modern day cowboy the and the jalapeño poppers was burnt and un edible had to take them out the burrito and toss. the bacon was burnt as well 😳. We also ordered the Napoli by the time we got home to eat it the bread was so soggy the hero fell apart definitely was not worth the 35$ we paid.. we have gone a few time when they first opened and it was fantastic but lately the quality has gone down hill 😔. This place was highly recommendable but now not so much unfortunately 😕 .. sorry 😐
Extremely disappointed. They close at 6pm on Sat. (8/14/21) We arrived at 5:25 to order 2 sandwiches and were refused service. I could understand if i was asking for a party hero or if it was 5:50pm. The girl at the counter told us it would be a 45min wait (we were the only ones there, nobody else waiting). Total mismanagement.**Update: Thank you Ryan for the response, weve been customers since the opening and have been very satisfied with the quality of our sandwiches. Grub hub and door dash orders should have a cut off prior to closing to allow those who are willing to travel for service, that opportunity. If inventory was an issue we wouldve been willing to make changes to our orders accordingly, but werent offered that courtesy.
I had to stop here and see what all the fuss was about. Everyday I would drive by and see a ton of people waiting outside in the cold for their orders. Immediately upon placing my order the owner and staff were so humble and kind. After hearing it was my first time the owner gave me a muffin on the house ( which was amazing). The food was to die for ! Huge portions and really really good prices. We ordered a bunch of different items and every item was amazing !! Ive been back several times and even order from there through door dash now ♡♡ keep up the great work 💪
Stopped by on the way to work today. I got the 36 , and grabbed my Bar Manager a Ruben (cant remember the name of sandwich. Ugh so so so much meat !! The bread was so freahas well as the cold cuts. Being a restaurant GM I notice that the owner of this establishment takes pride in what they do. Thank you Sir, I will never go to another deli in my life !! Now the only problem that my Bar Manager and I are going to have is getting through our work day with a big ole food baby!!
BEST HERO ON LONG ISLAND HANDS DOWN!!!! I am so happy I found this place. By far the best sandwich Ive had since I moved to LI 6 years ago. The size are huge although its about 15$ a hero they are large heros so it is worth it for the quality sandwich you are getting. The Ginger Angel swap the roast beef for chicken cutlet is my go to.
Theeeee best hero’s anywhere on Long Island by far!!!!! If you can, just call in your order 20 min ahead it’ll be ready to pick up and dive in!!Well worth any time waiting, worth it 100%. Quality meats, the best hero bread for these loaded sandwiches. Get there hungry and enjoy. Good luck trying to finish the hero’s!!!!
Its A great hero spot. I personally think they are better than seaport grille. Unless I see something different from seaport grille. But the heros there are phenomenal. Go there for a hero and grab ya self an Arnold Palmer and mix it with a shot of whiskeybfrom your local liquor store. But go there heros are definitely chubby there.
This place is always super busy with a solid variety for a local deli.Although waiting up to 30mins+ when picking up an order everytime has become unacceptable by local delivery standards. Please handle this now before summer hits and there are 20 people waiting for food outside.
I love this place but the ordering and pickup system needs a lot of work. I ordered an American hero at 12:30Pm. I was told twenty minutes, that’s fine but I show up at the time and waited another twenty minutes for one cold hero. I get it you’re busy but then say 40 mins or longer. We’ll wait.. I just don’t want to show up and stand around
Unfortunately i dont have anything good to report. My burrito was aweful - too many ingredients smooshed together! Besides that i was overcharged by $8.00!!A burritto, tots & an arizona DO NOT come to $36.00 which is what i paid.Sorry - not impressed at all, there are better deli’s around.
I do construction and i eat lunch all over the island. its so hard to find a good deli or sandwich shop these days. this is definitely a great place. the sandwich was like 5lbs lol and was delicious. they have burritos, burgers, and giant sandwiches. also the butcher shop on 112 is great which is what drew me to this place. nice job guys.
Awesome place with excellent meats and sides and heros and salads.. small parking lot though. Place your orders online and go in through the front entrance.. it saves a lot of time..they have awesome workers who know their job and get you out ASAP. ORDER ONLINE FOR HOILDAYS...
Loved it cause its awesome! Comfort food alllll the way!!! Its well priced and awesome portions! You can go classic and just get a deli sandwich or you can go crazy and order a messy, filling sandwich thats smothered in love! Also hits the spot when you have a hang over. Definitely love this place!
So far Ive had the Kerth Bules Hero, the Hey Darnold burrito (substituted ranch for bleu cheese), and the Chubby Fries and all have been more than great. If I had to pick my favorite I think the fries were my favorite, but it was all so good. The service was also surprisingly fast with how many people have been there the times Ive come and the staff have been great. I also like that they support other local business by getting bread from the bread palace down the street. 100% recommend.EDIT 6/19/21: Ive now tried the Penny Lane and Uncle Joe as well and both are great but the Uncle Joe has become a favorite of mine. Still recommend this place.
Were just passing through from out of town, but I guess they were off their game today. Fries were soggy and not good. Salad had some mushy lettuce. Grilled chicken wrap was ok, but the chicken was dry and had more color than flavor, and there was no fresh mozzarella (or if there was, I couldnt find it). They were crazy busy and it was 30 mins before closing so maybe thats why.
Went yesterday for the third time and for the third time they incorrectly made part of the order. Ordered the flaming arrow yesterday and they didn’t put the Bacon on it or the spicy Mayo. The spicy Mayo I’m sure being the reason it’s called the FLAMING arrow. If it wasn’t for the soggy tomatoes it would’ve been too dry to eat. As it was I only ate half. Third strike so that’s it for me and this place.
This was my first time here. I been going to the butcher shop for years . I can’t believe people give it a 2 stars because they waited 30 mins plus . The place is new , what do you expect ? I got the super T hero and I haven’t had a hero like this in Suffolk county for many years . It’s worth every penny . Ryan has a awesome butcher shop and now sandwich shop. I can’t wait to try the burgers and burritos.
Chubbs is a worth it stop for all of their food. I like the Philly cheese steak and have tried most menu items. Everything is very good. You sandwich is very big and full of goodness. Would be five stars but its hard to order if you havent been there before. Its confusing. But staff is nice and food fast.
30 minute wait. Drink + 11$ hero= 17$ for lunch. I feel ripped off. Sandwich was good but nothing to write home about, same as most other LI delis. Long Island is getting crazy expensive because were letting them get away with it. Should have seen the line at this place and every person at the register paid what I would call an absurd price for lunch.
I first heard about it from Orlando in the morning on 94.3 the shark and decided to give it a shot earlier this summer and have been back several times.... i drive from kings park (~25mins) to get their sandwiches, theyre that good I have had the 38, the Billy boy,the napoli, little sasquatch and a couple others but i try something different everytime I go, sandwiches are heavy, so be careful when they hand it to you through the window you get what you pay for here. Definitely worth the trip
I don’t know how the food is. Went twice and waited about an hour before just leaving. The second time I called in ahead and still waited in freezing cold. 10 min before someone even came to the window then another 30 min of them saying “another minute” so I left. Is there a secret handshake I need to know to actually get the food?
Went in to order a single cold hero was told it would be 20 to 30 minute wait I thought I would give it a try so I waited after about 45 minutes still no sandwich yet I noticed that some people who entered after me got served ..wasted almost entire hour lunch break here and left hungry..did I mention the 3 people I saw come back in because their orders were screwed up..

2022-02-04The pictures dont give this thing the justice it deserves. First off, its a huge sandwhich. Now, a lot of times, you sacrifice quality for quantity but not here. Fantastic all around!

2021-06-26Amazing.... Melt in your mouth goodness that will leave your appetite satisfied and your belt a little tighter. The sauces are so good you may dream of bathing in them. Call ahead, or dont.... Its worth the wait. GO HUNGRY !!!

2022-05-14Great food but their ordering system is in need of a serious overhaul. I ordered 4 items, and was told 20 minutes. I showed up 30 minutes later and paid. I was then told it would be 5 more minutes. I stepped to one side to wait. This is where their system is screwed. They never call you when your order comes up. You are expected to keep asking at the window if its ready. The line was very long and they saw me standing there waiting but never called me. By the time I was able to get their attention, 20 minutes had passed so who knows how long my order was sitting there. So you decide how good a sandwich is if you have to wait an hour for it.

2022-04-23Tiny bit more expensive then some of the other places around the area. With that being said the quality was spot on. Bought an Hero and it was stacked chicken cutlet was moist and the bacon 🥓😋👌 was crispy but still had a little pull to it. It was great. Found my new spot for a excellent Hero

2022-05-14Two visits two good meals but also two bad experiences with service. First time walked up to order. No one was there order took 45+ minutes. Next time called a order in. Was told 30 min which is fine but than waited an additional 30 minutes for my food. Food is good but not worth the wait and will not be going back and if you do go I advise having nothing to do with your time or you will be mad

2021-07-30Lord have mercy. What a delicious sandwich! Wow—top tier ingredients, full freshness, inspired recipe, and kind service. I live pretty far out and would not mind driving out for a fix. Bravo!

2021-07-31Me and a buddy rode 45 minutes on motorcycle because we heard the food was good. They close at 3, we got there 2:30. I get it, we cut it a little close but they said they werent taking orders and they were closed. We werent even able to buy a drink.Update: Ive spoken with the owner, who is a stand up guy and wants to rectify the situation. Food review coming soon.Final Update: I changed my review to 5 stars after speaking with the owner and eating one of there burritos today. I couldnt be happier with the way my original issue was addressed, and the food is phenomenal. Ill definitely be a return customer.

2022-07-01If Im going pay $15.00 plus for a hero I would hope I wouldnt have to wait more than 45 minutes for it.I Ordered a hero on the phone today and was told it would be ready in 30 minutes. I showed up after 30 minutes passed and was told it wasnt ready yet. After waiting outside in the hot sun for another 15 minutes I was told it would be another couple of minutes. I finally said forget it. You need to improve your order process.

2021-05-11Great service and amazing heroes! They have a huge menu so it was hard to choose, but we went with the Napoli and the Montero. The bread was the best part! So much food for such a reasonable price, definitely recommend.

2020-02-08This place is great. Great local business with great taste. Every time i have went (7-10 times) was great, sometimes i would have a long wait due to so many people wanting to pick up great food. The price point is equal to the quality.
