Took the love of my life out on our first date during a snow storm a few years back and ended up at the doorstep of the Church of the Heavenly Rest just in time for evening mass. It moved her to tears. The architecture is breathtaking and the ambiance is not overwhelming at all. A very good place to come and worship as a regular or if only passing through.
The Church is located a block away from the Guggenheim Museum and just across the street from Central Park. It is absolutely gorgeous! Not very large, but gorgeous! Their doors are open to the public to pray, eat and rest. A cafe attached to it. The restrooms are free, clean, stocked and in working condition. The structure is just magnificent. Such detail. The stained glass is so pretty! Very high ceilings which makes the church just stunning! A definite recommendation to check it out!
I give it 1 star for the place and the beautiful decoration that matches the neo-gothic style of the cathedral, very nice, but as for the event, it seemed to me that I lost my money because I also bought the most expensive tickets because there were no more or of 30 or 45 only of 70, in fact even if I had bought the 30 it was still expensive for what they presented with the Vivaldi event and the 4 stations, it was extremely short they barely played very short fragments maximum of three minutes each and the The rest they dedicated themselves to talking and talking and talking about very obvious things that the public generally already know, not for nothing did we attend the logic event there is prior knowledge so what I thought was more of a speech to burn time and not a music event. I dont know if its the way or the format they have in this country, but Ive been to many events of this kind and the only thing you see and expect is to hear the beautiful notes and see the great talent of the musicians, Im not saying that the musicians They are bad, on the contrary, they are very good, but it was very little for what it costs. If I had known that it would be presented in this way, I would not have gone or paid 210 dollars for three people. IT IS NOT WORTH IT FOR ANYTHING to better events and gone and even free.
This church is very beautiful! It has a special beauty in architecture and its main nave is impressive. It is in front of one of Central Parks entrances and can be visited at any time. You can sit and say a prayer of gratitude for life! Ah, I liked the emphasis given to the childrens work in the church.

2022-03-13Came here in December for the Candlelight: A Tribute to Coldplay. It was a different experience.First the church is an art piece of its own, then to see it lit by candlelight takes it to another level. Then you add piano rendition of Coldplay was amazing! We really enjoyed ourselves. The Candlelight shows are affordable. Great for date nights, birthdays, or just want to do something. It was covid friendly in that you wore your mask and theres enough space to distance from others.

2022-05-30The idea of listening to music by candlelight is amazing. One big BUT... the idea is good if you listen to the professionals, but, probably, not in this case. My experience yesterday was terrible… I am a musician, so it was hard for me to listen to the bad performance: the instruments were not in tune, the Vivaldi program was too difficult for the musicians… sad to get up at the beginning of the show and leave the hall, simply because you can no longer listen off-key instrument sounds…sorry if this confuses or offends anyone. But for that price I could go even to Carnegie.

2019-11-22A beautiful Church close to the Guggenheim Museum. A good place for prayer and a moment of silence. This episcopal Church have many activities in addition to Sunday services. Its good accoustics makes it perfect for concerts. The Church has a welcoming atmosphere for visitors.
