My hubby and I went to chutney masala and we had a delicious meal!!! Ooh la la you must try the chicken lollipops as an appetizer. As my boo says “those were delightful”. We also enjoyed the Loccha paratha bread (my favorite), chicken tikka masala and a pickled chicken. All was amazing! The drinks were good too!
July 2021, 4 STARS for Service, 3 STARS for food this time. We sat outside and I will say I will say the service was good, however, this time we were disappointed with our meal. We ordered the Shakahari Thales for 2, a special vegetarian appetizer sampler dish that my friend said everything on the sampler dish tasted the same, however, I thought it tasted just fine. But, if you are not a fan of fried food then stay away from this dish because most of the appetizers are fried. Then we shared the Hyderabadi Chicken Dum Biryani, and in our opinion the chicken cubes were dry, not moist at all when you cut into the chicken. We ended up asking for an extra yogurt dip just to soak the chicken In because it was so dry. All and all, we may give this restaurant another try in the future, but it looks like we going back to Little Mumbai Market in Pleasantville, NY to eat Indian food.
Excellent all the way around.. Indoor and outdoor dining, very comfortable atmosphere and seating. The food was just wonderful and for me perfect as they had many vegan selections.YAY!!The service was perfect, attentive, and helpful. The portions are a very nice size and Im looking forward to eating an amazing lunch tomorrow from my left- overs Definitely planning to go back and sampling their other delicious choices..I hope you will enjoy as much as we did...
Absolutely loved this place. If there’s one thing NYC has been missing, it’s an excellent Indian restaurant. Not too far out of the city is this lovely find. Their food is fantastic. Their mixed tandoori grill and their non veg appetizer thaali (that lamb samosa 😍😍😍) are not to be missed. And the daal makhani that comes with it is so freaking good! Tastes just like the food you get at five stars in India. Highly recommend coming here!
Don’t like the flavor profile of chicken korma here. It doesn’t have the creamy nutty taste like all of the other 15 Indian places I’ve went to. It tastes like basil and other ingredients. The appetizers were very good so that would be the reason I come back here. I didn’t receive the complimentary appetizer dish like some other yelp reviewers, the dish with the dipping sauces and wafer looking things. Maybe they stopped including, still disappointing.
Great service and really good food! I love that they offer brown rice ($2 up charge) and whole wheat naan. They use really good quality ingredients here, as it says on their website, as in no bleached flour and many organic ingredients. Id probably go back again if I were in the neighborhood.
Great location was exasctly what we were looking for, peaceful outside 2 top table with a nice view of the water and able to tie the dog while on a date. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was good, not quite great, and made / presented a bit different then used to for Indian food but overall a delightful experience have marked this on my map to come back more often. I also recommended walking down to the river after eating.
The food is excellent!!! The best I have ever tasted in Westchester!! They will spice the food to your liking whether you like it mild or very spicy! The service is excellent as well. I will have to come back on a busy night to see how well things are when they are very busy. Early afternoon is a very nice experience. I am very impressed!!
This has to be one of the best Indian restaurants in NY. its so fresh so rich in flavor and very authentic. People often eat the same things when Indian dinning, but you have to step out of the Masala or curry zone and try something different like the Shrimp Bryani with Garlic Naan. Enjoy!
Came here on a Sunday at 4:30pm and were the first to arrive for an early dinner. I had been looking for a good Indian restaurant in the area for quiet some time, had read the great reviews and decided to give it a shot. Disappointed is an understatement. My party of two received the worst service I’ve ever experienced in a restaurant. Since we were the first to arrive we had a choice of seating - except for two tables that had not been bussed, one of which by the window and we were told 10 mins for it to be cleaned up. No problem, we’ll sit somewhere else. We ordered one beverage, a sparkling and a still water. Another party of 4 enters shortly after and we placed our entire order once they were seated. We waited about 20 mins for two appetizers of samosa -while the party of four had received all 4 of their appetizers already. We had been there an hour and our main course comes out - meanwhile the party of 4 has received all of their main dishes...including mine! Our waiter delivers my boyfriend his entire meal & states my dish (Briyani) will be just a few moments. Another 10 minute goes by and my boyfriend is almost finished with his meal, and I have yet to receive mine. Turns out they delivered it to the other table and are making a new one for me! Another 20 minute wait! I declined the food and had what was left that my boyfriend was willing to share. Very poor communication and not very attentive! Another table of 4 enters requesting the window seat that was still dirty after our initial request (a whole hour+) There were 4 people working with three tables and no one seemed to care that dirty dishes and cups were left from the lunch rush! Our waiter visited our table more times after the food mishap than when we arrived! We will not be making the 30 minute trip for the sub-par food & horrible service.
We have been going to our favorite Indian place on Long Island for over 10 years wondering if there was anything better aside from NYC and coming home from Albany we discovered Chutney Masala and it did not disappoint! Everything is delicious and service was lovely, lots of different delicious options if youve been going to the same ol curry house forever
The food is fine. Not bad at all, but not great. We ordered chicken tikka masala, lamb vindaloo, an okra dish, and garlic naan. Okra was the best of the 4 but almost too sweet with so many caramelized onions. The lamb was overcooked, what a shame. I would have given 4 stars and come back again, but when I unpacked the leftovers I saw that no extra rice had been packed. I would have returned, even with the inflated prices and flawed execution, but the fact that they couldnt bother to top of the rice just really turned me off.
Tried the sample starter for two with fish, shrimp, chicken popsicle and lamb momo, accompanied with tamarind chutney and other sauce and condiment. These were all tasty and delicious. Took half to go. Also tried the Punjab Goat--type of stew. This was surprisingly good because the meat was not gamey as I would have expected and the gravy had a depth of flavor with a kick of heat, yet still tasted just right and not overbearing. Overall, everything was good, however, I think the fish on the starter sample plate may have been past its prime which no amount of battering and frying will conceal. This time, goat wins over fish!
Im very disappointed that I have to write this review for Chutney Masala, a place that I loved so much. I picked up an order of vegetable biryani, bindi, garlic naan and 2 mango lassis for a total of 52.00 and was so excited to dig in because this was one of my favorite Indian restaurants. To my suprise the food was terrible!!!!! It lacked flavor and was very very dry which is how I remember this food to be. The garlic naan (which is always a favorite) tasted like burned garlic instead of its usual soft and hearty treat. The only portion of my dinner that I enjoyed was the mango lassi. Everything else was so undesirable. Needless to say I will never order food from Chutney Masala again. Im not sure what changed but I really hope things go back to the way it was 8 months ago. The price I paid for the food was absolutely not worth it and I wish that I can get my money back!!!If this is your first time having Indian food I do not recommend this restaurant at all. It will definitely leave a bad taste in your mouth (literally).
The punjabi goat was tasteless. Raasa in Elmsford has better taste on punjabi goat. However, chilli chicken was not bad nor good...lots of corn starch wrapping. Panner makhni was bad too. The paneer used was old and tough probably bought from some regular indian grocery store rather than made inhouse.
Will definitely not be back the service and the waiter who claimed to be the manager were absolutely horrible we ordered delivery and he tried to give us cold food to take out that was sitting for about an hour very disappointed trying to support local businesses but being treated with disrespect is unexuseable they didn’t do anything to make up for the situation
Yesterday I went to this place with the Restaurant coupon i got. And I regretted it visiting this place. The chef obviously doesnt know what he is cooking. The food is nothing Indian like. A tip to the chef: Mixing Chicken with Rice doesnt make it Hyderabad Dum Biryani. None of the dishes were good. They were either too salty or tasteless.

2022-03-15Randomly happened upon this Indian restaurant after my husband and I took a sunset walk in Scenic Hudson Park. We ordered the chicken vindaloo and saag paneer with garlic naan. The chicken vindaloo was a bit tart but it was good amount of spicy and matched perfectly with the creamy saag paneer. The service was great as well. We enjoyed our dinner and will be back the next time we crave Indian food!

2021-07-23The meal was simply well-made and hot. I love the naan when it’s fluffy towards the middle. Masala was sweet and the chicken was soft. Paneer was good, though I’ve had better.

2022-05-02I was looking for caterers for a very special occasion. So I called Chutney Masala and spoke to Navjot - Who was very pleasant and helpful in suggesting menu for the party. The order arrived timely - fresh, and aromatic. Everyone truly enjoyed authentic tasty dishes. Big thanks to Navjot and team to make my celebration more special.

2022-04-09Their food is absolutely delicious. I ordered from them randomly on DoorDash a few weeks ago and I’ve done it multiple times since. I crave it all the time lol. Definitely try them out if you’re considering it. :) I love the chicken tikka masala with extra jasmine rice and lehsuni naan!

2020-08-07Just tried the place for the first time yesterday. Coming from London I have always been a lover of quality Indian food. This restaurant really is top-class. Off the beaten path in Irvington the food is absolutely superb. The avacado paapdi chaat is truly to die for.... and the chicken cettinad curry is out of this world. Can’t wait to go back.Update:Returned this evening for the second time and decided to sit at an outside table. Chose the same dishes as last time. The food here really is terrific.

2017-09-09Good food, lots of options on the menu. The grill/tandoor items are quite popular. The kitchen stays opened till 9pm, quite late for the area. Decent number of vegetarian options are also available. The service definitely has room for improvement.

2021-09-06Highly recommend this restaurant both for the food and the vibe. You MUST order the lamb samosas. We got the mixed apps plate and the lamb samosas and the mango shrimp were incredible. The garlic naan was light, fluffy, and delicious. The decor was sophisticated and interesting, with historic photos. We were there on a busy Sunday night and although there were plenty of patrons, but the food came out quickly.Pro tip: after your meal, stroll about a block east to pass the most charming, sparkling fire station you’ll ever see.

2019-02-19My husband and I have gone to Chutney Masala for every Valentines day for the past 5 years. Having moved from London to Westchester, we tried close to 10 Indian Restaurants and could not fine one that tasted remotely as good as London. We stopped looking after trying Chef Navjots food in 2014 and loving it. Every dish is great and the brunch is so worth it BUT try these especially: lamb somosas, chicken mkhani, the aloo paapdi chaat, saag paneer, and ofc the peshawari naan and the mango lassi!!!
