Great movies, exceptional food stand with many organic and delicious choices. Tonight we saw a movie called Maiden which was about an all-female crew in an around the world sailboat race. Over the last 20 years we have seen a number of amazing movies that would never stand a chance at the traditional movie theaters. This theater is independently owned and can pick and choose whatever films they want.
We have been members and supporters of the Huntington Cinema Arts Centre for years. Cinema Arts brings the best in independent films to its Long Island members (non members, too. BUT membership yields rewards and benefits far beyond reduced admission fees.) Somewhat eclectic film offerings and live programming ranging from once a month Friday night live jazz to evenings with world class filmmakers and writers all make Cinema Arts a cultural hub rivaling the best of NYC. And with the myriad excellent dining options available in and around Huntington you are always able to have an evening (or afternoon) to remember.Go. Enjoy... and support this vital part of the Islands cultural ecosystem.
It was a really amazing experience, I drove 40 minutes just to come here and it was worth it. I saw the 40th anniversary of Monty Pythons life of brain. And they made it feel special, they gave us a special 40th anniversary pack, which included a fake beard, a poster, lyric book and a history of the movie. They also serve beer at this theater along with other food. Will come back again great experience
My go-to cinema on Long Island. Beautiful people, great movies for the discerning and a great cafe. Other programs in music and yoga. Known the finest lady-founder Charlotte since its founding with a sheet on the wall. Her dedication and humanity is peerless and a role model. We need more such community cinemas.
What a really cool place to see a movie! They usually have features that are a little different than your multiplex. Snack bar is really good with organic popcorn and other things you wont find everywhere else and not crazy expensive, either. They even serve wine & beer!
Needs to update the equipment . Better eclectic selection of films. I had to go to NYC to see Burning(one of the highest touted foreign films based on worldwide film critiques reviews). I live on Long Island and consistently have to trek to the city to see current independent and foreign films. They have a lot of work to do!!!!!!!
We are fortunate to have an arts theatre in town. Always check their calendar as special guest stars and events are not to be missed and once in a life time opportunities. If you enjoy discussing films and absorbing the messages and emotions, then this is for you.Cafe food is not to my taste and remember CASH ONLY.Memberships are on sale now and well worth the yearly small fee if you are going to see even 2 or 3 movies a month. They also have sunday am movies and breakfast....!Singles can find other singles here usually with whom to socialize.
Aside from having the most amazing movies from everywhere, this is a community gathering place where films and speakers on important social topics have been hosted for many years -- including several for our nonprofit, HealthyPlanet. In addition to all the above, they have a nice café that has a bunch of vegan options. So I am, and have been for many years, a real fan of the Cinema Arts Centre. But then, that makes me just like everybody else Ive ever met!!!
Staff was all extremely friendly. Its a wonderfully quaint place. Love the little cafe and not only do they show regular movies but they also have some cool showings..like for Halloween they showed john carpenters original Halloween and they welcomed costumes to be worn.
Love this independent movie theater! TCinmea Arts shows many wonderful foreign and indie films that are difficult to find in mainstream theaters. They also have a wonderful concession stand that sells delicious food at reasonable prices. They even have organic popcorn and micro-brews! Winning all around.
At a time that we can all watch almost anything on the internet, a typical movie theater needs to think hard to justify the expense to go and sit in a dirty venue with lingering odors of ... (you figure what I mean) left by senior citizens you love the place because at least its warm. The selection of movies tends to be eclectic: it seems that term justifies their emphasis on certain gender, religion or historically-biased topics. A great place for former hippies, hipsters, older folks or the occasional South American family bringing their crying babies for nursing during the show.!
Took my little ones here to see Yellow Submarine on the big screen. They are 4th gen Beatles fans, so it was really good to see that you were playing it. The theater is small, I believe only 3 rooms, but that is ok, because the place is clean, and the staff is friendly. Keep up the good work and showing things that arent at every other movie theater!! I like that it is an old school type movie theater. Thank You for an enjoyable night with my little ones...who by the way sang the whole movie.
Great place to watch old flicks, and getting discounts on movies. However, very politically motivated on the Left. Went to a function featuring Joel Grey, and nearly the whole session became a Trump bashing. Was very uncomfortable. Just motivates me to just get the discounts, and skip all other venues. Thats too bad. Should keep entertainment and politics separated.
I had an experience during the Retro Picture Show in which I was singled out for having a phone out just so I can take it off the power bank and back into my pocket. Meanwhile, others were actually ON the phone and shouting during the movie without so much as a single reprimand. I brought this to management who just shrugged their shoulders and said that since it wasn’t an employee of the actual theater, they couldn’t do anything. No apology. No nothing. I have been a regular patron during such special events. But rest assured, it will be my last.
Movie was great as were sound and picture quality. But the place needs an overhaul desperately. I remember it from 1972 or so, when it was old sofas in a space above a downtown Huntington store front. Of course things have changed for the better. But they need to change again.
The Show I Attended, Was Good ! Not Gonna Give An Excellent Rating Because Its Need To Improve In Sound Quality ! When A Movie Is Formatted In 5.1 Dolby Surround Sound ! That Means There Better Be A Whole Lot Of Speakers Playing With Subwoofers...Front ,Back Left And Right Side ! I Went To See Metallica S&M 2 Movie Concert Special 10-9-19 @ 7:30pm And Throughout The Whole Performance Not 1 Person Recognised The Atmosphere ! Especially How The Music Was Sounding! Im A DJ, Love My Music ...But The Sound Needs To Improve In The Auditorium...Especially When They Have Special Engagements.. Otherwise The Show Was Excellent
Great little arts cinema that does feature many obscure films and documentaries. Be forewarned, however, their political views are relentlessly progressive and you will never see any films even remotely politically even handed. Not a big deal, but lack of perspective and balance is a bit grating when it is so painfully obvious.

2019-04-16A wonderful, no frills local gem in Huntington. I love going to see movies here. The film pickings are diverse, they schedule tons of special events and they offer a ton of vegetarian and vegan options in comparison to your typical, commercial movie theater. From a late night showing of Mandy (2018), to an extra special viewing of Frankenstein (1931 film) with Sara Karloff, Boris Karloffs daughter, there in the flesh to do a Q&A with the audience, to marathon watching this years Academy Award for Best Documentary (Short Subject) nominees, CAC offers so much to their patrons. Not to mention a decent beer selection in the cafe that doesnt cost an arm and a leg! I have been, for going on two years now, a paying member of the theater and it is a contribution that I will happily continue to renew year and after.

2019-11-09We are members here and think its important to support this fantastic cultural institution. It doesnt have all the amenities of the big multiplexes but I find it much more civilized. Few kids, and no one is eating dinner in the next seat. They show popular first run films, but they also screen small budget films that the big chains wont show. And the member ticket prices are a bargain. Love this place.

2018-11-03This theater is the way I remember theaters of old to be. It shows quality movies, not the blockbuster hits that are shown in bigger theaters. If you appreciate good movies, this is the place for you. Dont miss the Cult Cafe (the concession stand). Great fresh popcorn, many great food selection choices and beverages

2019-02-20The Heart of Long Islands independent cinema culture! Famous Directors can be seen here periodically. Excellent place to international and domestically produced movies on an independent basis. Many different seminars are held here too. Check out the excellent cafe just as you walk in. It is a very enlightening place to be. This center is also about helping those that wish to cut their teeth in movie development to get some important info here.

2019-11-18Cinema Arts has been one of my favorite highlights of Huntington since high school, from folding chairs, till today. I am very grateful every time my husband and I attend an event or see a movie there. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do. If you have an opportunity to meet the owners, even better, they are dedicated and caring and I surround them with love.
