Great venue for a benefit. Standard cocktail hour with passed hors doeuvres. Open bar was great. Good selection of spirits. The venue is an old bank with incredible details on the interior.Dinner was a filet and it was great. Must be something to see them prepare a few hundred filets all to come out at once!Classic NYC event venue, didn’t disappoint. Was great to be back out celebrating, first time since COVID.
The venue is absolutely beautiful, but disappointed would be an understatement when it came to the food. I am giving one start for the beautiful setup of the venue and one for the lovely waitress that was attentive to my table as well as the lovely lady by cheese and meats table during cocktail hour. Now for the food. There were some things that were enjoyable, namely the sliders being served during the cocktail hour, the pasta during cocktail hour, and the individual chocolate cake type dessert at the end. Other than those things, as much as I tried to be optimistic, I was disappointed beyond belief, especially for this establishment. The meat served during cocktail hour was not well seasoned, and what really disappointed most was the steak. I was first suspicious when they didnt ask how I like my steak cooked. Then, unlike at any other wedding venue Ive been to, they served the main course by setting out empty plates and having wait staff come around with trays of the steak serving the pre sliced rounds from person to person. Not only was my table left after it seemed like everyone else received their food, but I watched as each person revived whatever level of cooked steak was given to them like being given out slices of bread begin a loaf. As the second to last person to be served I received a well cooked end piece that was dry and somewhat tough. There was no fat in this steak making the end pieces even dryer and Little seasoning it seemed as well. I dont think the steak had any sort of sear on the outside. I did not want to even eat the 2 pieces I received at that point. To top it off, the roasted fingerling potatoes where dried out as well. I held out my hopes for the cake only to find my hopes dashed by the straight sugar icing between the cake layers that was the kind of sweet only reserved for decorating the outside of the cake.I am still shocked by the lack of quality for the food at this venue and would not recommend it to others.
As a more than half my life resident of New York City, I feel it is my responsibility to make known the truth about Cipriani 42nd Street, or Cipriani Dolce as the brand wants it known. You pay for location, which is by all accounts beautiful (albeit very noisy when its rush hour and the schedule is blasted via speakers), and the apparent privilege of what has been born of Harrys Bar.Setting aside the prices - which include ~$80 for a glass of I dont know what and $26 for a salad that doesnt include protein - (because four tablespoons of crumbled goat cheese doesnt count) - and I honestly dont know how the kitchen is operated (because minestrone soup should taste like something besides water, particularly when its $18, and the beef in the spaghetti bolognese should not resemble kibble that is fed to dogs), if youre on an expense account or have a budget and time to kill pre-Metro North pickup, you might do worse. And for the money, you can definitely do better. So can Cipriani Dolce.
Cipriani 42nd street is a stunning and elegant event venue! This used to be an old bank, but fortunately it was repurposed so everyone can still enjoy the grand architecture. There is a room for cocktails without disrupting the seated dinner area and a decent sized dance floor. I highly recommend Cipriani for your next corporate, charitable or personal event.
Went with a small group (around 6 people) on a Sunday evening and had a fantastic time and enjoyed the classy & vintage vibe. Food was very good and service was fast. I was very impressed with the asparagus appetizer and the waiter completely upsold us to try the world class ice cream. Somehow he was right. I also got the filet for entree. It was a very nice cut and cooked as requested, however Im slightly disappointed in the flavoring. It was a bit underwhelming given the high price point. Nonetheless, deserves 4.5 stars and would recommend.
As an attendee, this is one of my favorite venues for galas - they always have a great service as well as drink and dessert selection and are amazing about allergies in comparison to a lot of other places in NYC. Their food is also good, especially for a place that houses hundreds of people.
Such a staple. Not only a wonderful meal but great staff in an incredible location at Grand Central terminal. To be able to enjoy lunch and look at the beautiful ceiling and feel the energy of New York is a special occasion. Highly recommended for anyone considering lunch in midtown
Stunning events venue. Very close to Grand Central. Great location, very high-class feel. Beautiful old architecture. Table settings were lovely. The servers were definitely experienced, so everything runs smoothly. I attended an event here as a guest so I cannot comment on price but it was a wonderful experience.
Was just here for a charity event and it was very well done. The staff are very well versed in the food that theyre serving. The interior of the space is gorgeous. The food is great quality and really tasty. And the bartenders serve great drinks. Ill definitely jump at a chance to attend another event here.
What a place. We came for a University of Pennsylvania function. From the moment we walked in we were asked by one of a long line of people to take our coats. Then we took advantage of the range of food options they offered. The setting is historic and the service really fantastic.
Gorgeous building with a lot of history. Great place for a wedding or other venue . Of which I have had the pleasure of attending several. The food is excellent. But the wait staff is very Rude and pushy. If your not paying attention they will knock you over attending to there duties.
Went to a fund raiser event here, and I believe it to be my first time in this venue. Previously went to events at the restaurant having the same name. If I had the funds I would host an event here without hesitation. Not for those on a budget like me. Without a doubt I had a great time and the staff were courteous and helpful when needed.
This venue does not live up to its downtown counterpart. While the building is very beautiful, the food leaves much to be desired. The pasta sauces left much to be desired, the steak was dry and poorly seasoned, and the desserts were subpar at best. I truly expected more of this establishment.
Architectually, its a beautiful venue. Marble, columns, and high windows everwhere. It was formerly a bank, and the old teller stations still stand. It has a very elegant, vintage feel. The decor and layout is well done, and the food is absolutely delicious. Everything we tried we liked.
Seem to always be back from morning till afternoon. What i love to go in here for is the lemon meringue mini pies, they are to die for. super delicious. Employees are friendly. They should hire more Spanish people, just something i like to notice in companies. Busy but awesome environment. Clean place
Beautiful venue for high-end events. Technical staff is pretty solid, though you have to follow-up and double check on requests. Because it used to be an old bank, some of the architectural details need creative workarounds (such as for staging, floorplan layout, etc.). Id use this venue gain in the future.
The pay obviously is great but if you need a consistent job that gives you a weekly schedule then this is not the job for you. The reason for this is because it is an on-call job--they only email you gigs when they need you. It is strange too because some employees get more gigs than others; sadly, I was the unlucky one. In addition, the captains are terribly rude, nasty, and disgusting in how they treat the servers. One time they sent so many people home for being one minute late without giving us any prior knowledge of this through email from the office. The lack of communication was so tremendous it was just utterly unprofessional and disrespectful of the employees lifestyle and time outside of work. One time I got written up and a few other women for staying in the bathroom for too long and talking when I explained to the female captain that we were waiting for the other girls to get out. She did not care and reported me specifically to the manager just because of the fact that I respectfully went up to her to discuss that she is abusing her power and to put her in her place. I have a right to speak my mind, but in Ciprianis, they dont care. Because of this I received a red flag and did not receive any shifts until I made the time to meet with the manager to take it off. They did this without even knowing the truth of the story. This was the last straw and made me quit. I felt like they treated me so low down and dirty like my opinion and say in the story was worthless. Even the cook is very mean. One time he overheard someone say that the food was nasty so he told the captains to not give all of the employees the leftovers like a really big baby. The ONLY people that were nice were the servers. Goodbye Cipriani!!!.
Premier NYC corporate & private event venue. Top-notch in-house production company (Star Group Productions), excellent cuisine options, & stellar support & waitstaff.Highly recommended for your next non-profit gala, corporate event, or high-end celebration of a lifetime milestone (Bat & Bar Mitzvahs, weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, retirement parties, & lifetime tributes).Although, be forewarned, the level of excellence that is displayed is commensurate with the price-tag.
Was here for a Samsung event and though the place was breath taking the catering could have been better. The waiters came out with small portions on a tray that were grabbed and gone in seconds. There was definitely not enough to go around. But I must say the lamb chops were fantastic ( I was lucky enough to grab one)This may have been Samsungs choice of what to serve but since I dont know I have to give the review to the caterer.
The quality of food in Cipriani is exquisite. Down to the oatmeal I purchase in the morning for breakfast. I do have a complaint as far as the service though. The service for take out is horrible. I stand and wait for long periods of time, for the staff to take my order. This has happened on numerous occasions. And I just had it this last time. As they see the line grow, the manager comes to assist but skips over me on the line. A gentleman walks in and stands by the register and again is serviced before me. I then speak up about my order. I am disgusted with the reputation and stature of such a place to have such terrible service!! I have coworkers that agree the service is slow.42nd Street Grand Central Location for take out.
If I could give this place zero stars I would. We went here for new years, paid an extra $150 on top of the general admission price for VIP ultra tickets which supposedly meant we got express entry into the venue. We did not. We arrived at 9:15pm (doors opened at 9), were told to wait in the vip line which stretched far down the street and barely moved. This was during nycs record cold snap where a hypothermia alert had been issued. We waited 45 minutes in the freezing cold to the point where numerous people started crying and yelling that we needed to be let in and a chant started that we needed a refund, as they had obviously oversold tickets. We finally got in, had to wait an extra half hour in the compulsory bag check line, another half hour in the line to find out which table we were at and then in yet another 20 minute line to pay an extra $50 fee for our bottle service. The staff were rude and unorganised. When we paid the $50 fee the lady forgot to give us our change and then pulled it out of her bra when I reminded her. It was 11:20 by the time we got to our table and by this stage we needed to use the bathroom, another half hour later we made it back to our table just in time to ring in the new year. We had to chase someone down to give us our bottle and they didnt give us any mixers for it (after we asked twice they brought us 3 cups of sprite). The food on our table had been eaten by the other people they had sat with us save for about 5 pieces of salami and some cherry tomatoes and was not replenished. We paid VIP prices to get far less service than the general admission tickets and to spend an entire night freezing then thawing while waiting in lines. Extremely disappointed. I would recommend never going here for a large event as they obviously cannot organise this.
We went here for NYE 2018. We paid $249 for Ultra VIP which was advertised as 6 hrs premium bar, hors doeuvres, a table, a bottle of vodka, express entry and a DJ playing. It was a nice venue with a good atmosphere. However, it stops there. I will never set foot in this place again. The express entry was waiting in line for 1.5hrs in the -10C weather on a night where the city had issued a hypothermia warning. As it was cocktail attire I couldnt even feel my toes once I got in, and there were others in a far worse situation than me (some people behind me were screaming at them to let us in because they were so cold). When we finally got to the front of the line the doorman was extremely rude and got upset because he couldnt hold my ticket steady for him to scan (because my hand was so cold I couldnt hold it properly). Once inside we had to line up for another 20min to hand our coats over to a compulsary coat check which was $5 per item. We then had to wait another 20min in a line to get our table number and then 20min again to pay a bottle service fee of $50 which wasnt included in the ticket price. When we finally got to our table at 11:30pm (after arriving at 9:15pm), we then had to wait another 15min for mixers for our drinks. The food was only a few chopped up vegatables (broccoli, carrot, cauliflower) and a few slices of salami. Then after having to go outside in the freezing cold with no coat to use the restroom (which is outrageous), I finally had a drink and toasted the new year in. I really hope others had a better experience, but I highly doubt it given we were about in the front 1/3 of the original line.
This is a great place to grab breakfast or lunch. The hot buffet for breakfast in the morning is great (eggs, french toast, little brioche egg sandwiches, sausage, home fries, frittata) and they also have some amazing pastries as well. The lunch is delicious between the daily italian hot food (pastas, vegetables, and meats/seafood) and classic italian sandwiches and small salads. It is a little bit pricey, but then again it is Cipriani. P.S. - always look for the daily sandwich specials.

2022-07-08Cool spot to enjoy a drink overlooking the main Grand Central terminal. Our bartender was kind but older and would forget that we ordered... also brought the wrong drink.

2022-05-06We held out wedding reception here for 40 guests and the service, food and drink were outstanding. Our host, Antonio, was excellent throughout the process; keeping us posted of updates, accommodating changes to the menu, and making my wife and I feel most welcome. Our international guests also enjoyed the iconic Grand Central station architecture very much. I would recommend this experience to anyone looking to host an event for a large group.

2022-04-25Staff was professional and affable.Service was superb until dessert time.No effort was made to provide non gluten alternatives and despite asking for tea, I never was accomodated.Otherwise the reception was great.Bathrooms were spotless and toiletries and paper products were ample. There is seating available in the restroom area.Doormen are pleasantly helpful. The main dish was tasty, beautifully presented and the salad was so fresh.Roasted chicken infused with julienne red pepper was delectable and the roasted carrots and potatoes were over the top in goodness and texture.

2022-06-02The worst catering managers I have ever seen. No care for the clients or customers. I wouldn’t book their catering Dept until they fire this rude manager called Sandro or something like that

2022-03-08Went for a giant catered luncheon. I get that big events arent the same as their regular service bit the amount this org must have spent ans what they got was sad. We sat down to a pitiful plate of iceberg lettuce and sliced steak whihc had been overcooked and sitting out for the better part of a half hour on the tables before we were called to sit. No one was asked about food restrictions and it took another 20 mins to get a veggie meal for my friend which was A bland pile of zucchini over beans. The coffee ran out early and most of us didnt get a full cup. Why not pasta if they were saving money. It was just weird. The space was gorgeous.

2022-04-23The experience was fine overall except for the initial obvious racial profiling at the entrance and being ask,are you sure youre in the right place?
