This place is great!! The location is super cute, and is super accessible right in Downtown Brooklyn. Excellent cocktails, atmosphere, and food. The shishito peppers & the butternut squash soup were my favorites!! The staff were so nice too, will definitely be back! :-)
The atmosphere here is so warm foad to see it back open because i love this place I always meet new people that I end up following on social media. The brews are so delicious 😋 I love a good IPA & their home brews will not disappoint. The food and appetizers are also sure to fulfill any cravings especially after a few drinks lol.
Came in on a Monday afternoon. It was MLK Jr Day.The bar seemed pretty packed. We had no idea it was self seating . We waited a bit to get seated to then be told we can seat ourselves. It seemed understaff with waiters as the one waitress seemed to be taking care of everyone on the floor. She was efficient at doing her job. The flights were really cool, and they have a decent selection of beers. The pizza came out very quick. Nothing too spectacular about the place. My favorite thing about it was the decor. Cool little spot to check out if you’re in the area.
Bright spot in the middle block. Open concept that spills out to a lively patio bring a great energy to enjoy your drinks and libations. From my sampling of 5 different beers clear the brew master isnt breaking any flavor barriers but is skillfully enough to get the taste across. Positive jam was a featured sour, not in anyway an overpowering sour but nice taste. The pilsner which is the benchmark test of a Brewers skill came in on point. Clean drinking and nice balance. The hiccup I found was in the Starunalia. Too weak on taste and mine was slightly flat suprising consider their taps were running foamy all night. The berry your dead a solid wheat offer they serve with fresh blueberries. Didnt get a chance to try the food maybe next time.
We ventured out to Brooklyn for a brunch. I was excited about this spot, as it is a fully functioning brewery. We don’t drink often, but we certainly enjoy drinking quality beer, wine, cocktail and everything else tasty! The first glance at the entry way had that “wow” factor, with large, simple yet modern and cool light fixture with a fan, greeting the customers. From the entry way, you can see the big & shiny beer brewing equipment to the right. They brew all the draft beers here, so we wanted to try them instead of cocktails. They had an option for a flight of beers, so we decided to do that. We chose Pilsner, Belgian Golden Strong, APA, and Porter. They were all very tasty, high quality and flavorful. We enjoyed all of these beers. Great job!For food, we got Boys Got Heat Pizza, Chicken & Waffle, and Rosemary Fries. I must say, the pizza was much bigger than I expected, which was great. I don’t always eat pizza crust, but their crust was tasty! It was charred just a little to add the great smoky flavor. It was not so spicy, but had a nice kick to it. Chicken & Waffle was huge too, and the chicken was super crispy on the outside, which gave that great “crunch!” noise. And the fries...oh the fries...it was freakin’ amazing! We were completely full and happy, we took some food home with us.We had a really pleasant brunch here, everything was delicious, and I thought it was all very affordable too, considering the portion and quality. Our server was lovely and friendly, polite and helpful with recommendation. What a great spot to get some food and booze! And it is not a typical restaurant, but a brewery! I love to go back to try more of their delicious food and beer offerings!
Tried a flight of their porter, rhubarb milk stout, the scotch ale, and the New England IPA. All of them were tasty, but the beers were each distinct. The food menu looked great, although it was more on the pricy side. The atmosphere of the brewery is also very nice and cozy. I’ll definitely be returning because it’s so close.I’ll have to try the rest of their beers and some of their food items to see if it’s worth a 5 star review, but everything was great so far!
Stopped by here late one Saturday night looking for food, but unfortunately the kitchen had just closed (around midnight).Staff were so friendly and helpful in suggesting nearby places still serving food, that once wed eaten we came back.Turns out this is a great microbrewery, serving up a variety of beers made on site.Atmosphere is good, beers were nice, and the staff were friendly. All the ingredients you need for a relaxing drink.Looking forward to my next visit to try some food.
Met a friend here after work on a Tuesday. We were impressed! The beer menu is pretty typical for a small brewery but my IPA was well executed. They also seem to have a pretty large selection of “guest” beers and ciders. The food menu is pretty extensive with lots of small bites (we ordered fries for something quick to munch on) but the pizza menu is really outstanding. There are about 10 specialty pies and we had a hard time deciding, ultimately choosing the “Shroom,” an awesome mushroom pizza. Super flavorful with nice big mushrooms and even the crust was amazing. That said, literally every pizza choice looked fantastic and I need to go back. It was pretty crowded in the bar area but we were able to get a table quickly, since we were ordering food.
Great beers and great pizza. This industrial-looking establishment is great to grab drinks after work. Love the vibe and prices. I like how the kitchen is open and you can actually see when theyre making the pizzas in the wood-fired ovens. I highly recommend this spot.
Circa brews great beers and has a delicious menu. The two nitro beers (stout and pale ale) are particularly smooth but I also enjoyed the gose. All of the flavors were clean and crisp. They have flights so its easy to figure out which you like best. The brunch menu is great for sharing and the margherita pizza has a nice chewy crust. Its a big open space too - great view of the brewing vats and the kitchen.
We had the friendliest, most helpful server ever. She knew exactly what drinks and desserts to recommend for each of us. We got a huge spread of food - fries, brussel sprouts, ricotta, pea agnolotti, a meat and cheese board, and finished with flourless chocolate cake and ice cream. Every single thing we ordered was delicious. The only drawback: no gender neutral restroom.
Lets just sit at the bar for two either for first date or hanging out. That should be enough. This place has an extended list of beer include some german and local brewery. I normally stay with German or belgium. Price is pretty standard $7 to $8 per glass and I suggest pilsner since it comes in a tall glass. Beside that, they have cocktail to wine therefore you are good for everyone.Food needs a bit improvement in many side. Let start with the fries. They are super tiny and eating from the cup is super annoying. Just lay it all out on the plate and use bigger fries or sweet potatoes. I was a bit disappointed. Going on to their burger, this is just a mess. How did a burger turn into a burger salad. Its impossible to take a bite and have your burger still looks like burger. The burger isnt that great either as the bread they use end up bring saggy on arrival. Pizza is so so for the price. Beside being fresh and warm, I prefer it to be a bit bigger and crunchier base.Service is on point for the bar. It wasnt super busy thou.
Most popular beers brewed here (although they are always rotating): Dry Hopped Sour, Signature IPA, Belgian Golden Strong, Dry Irish Stout. Their Nitro Coffee Cream is also very flavorful for a lighter beer.Great Pizza too! The Salumi and Boys Got Heat were both very comparable in quality to other local pizza spots, which is saying a lot for a brewery!!
Large taproom serving 12 house-made beers (2 on nitro), cocktails, and pizza from their wood-fired oven. Modern/industrial interior with plenty of seating options and a table-top shuffleboard game. Beer comes as a flight, in a pint glass, or a growler to go. Occational live music. Come here for the vibe, not the beers.
I really want to love this place but, it gets worse every time I go.I had tried the Steamed Clams the time before last and I believe there were 6 littleneck clams for $14 dollars and didnt even come with bread to soak up the broth they were served in.The latest version of their menu is pretty lacking with anything other than pizza. The starters include 2 different sliced meat plates and 2 that are just vegetables (just pickles and brussel sprouts). The entrees other than pizza included a $30+ steak, a hamburger (which is pretty good by the way), and a salad (in addition to the salads section). Great if youre not looking for a protein and trying to spend $16+ to do it.The pizzas usually are a bit soggy in the middle so I ordered them well done and got one of them burnt. The issue is that on the clam pizza there arent many wet toppings to keep it from burning. The breadcrumbs on top which burned probably immediately. I get that I said well done but, as a server, you should see that its burnt and have them get another one going. As a cook dont put the breadcrumbs on, in the beginning, knowing theyre just going to burn.Service has gone downhill each time as well with this last time feeling rushed in an empty restaurant.I feel like if they expanded their beers to a few other local options or had better beer deals and expanded the menu with a couple more staples besides the pizza and cheeseburger this place could be pretty popular. It has had less and less people in it each time and its a beautiful space. Right next to me so I would love it to be great.
The atmosphere was certainly lively. The beautiful people and beer snobs were hobnobbing the evening away. As for the food; the pizza alone is worth going there. The beer was nothing Earth shattering but it gets the job done as far as filling your belly and clouding your judgment. Caution! Their in house prices are different than their website prices. The powers that be should look into that.
Great space, comfortable bar chairs, but poor cell reception, the wifi unexpectedly has a password, and the beers just arent very good. Check the untappd ratings if you dont believe me. Additionally, the dumb TVs detract from the otherwise sophisticated look. Didnt try the food.
Update: I have been around (check the reviews) and these are the best wings available, go with the buffalo! Pizza is great too, I go boys got heat to grassy and sassy, and you can’t go wrong! This place is my go to spot, particularly during Covid! Tons of outdoor seating and good cover on some of the tables so you can eat here is pretty much any weather.I love the pizzas and the beer is obviously solid. The wings are legit too, really can’t go wrong with any of the choices on the menu. When it is nice out you may even see a barstool at one of the high tops. They may be the most comfortable barstools there are.Highly recommend
Great brews and atmosphere, but 2 pizza pies and french fries took over an hour to arrive. Im sorry but thats not acceptable for Pizza to be made. Im a life long New Yorker and the pizza left some more to be desired for the heafty prize tag and small serving. Ive had better brick oven pizzas from small mom and pop shops. Pizza was good but not great. 2 pies, fries, 2 beers and a cocktail $90. Im giving 4 stars for the great brew and atmosphere and exceptional service. Minus 1 star for wait time.
I’m ashamed that it took me this long to write a review! I want to give a shout out in particular to Nicole at Circa Brewing. She was an incredible server, very attentive to our big party in mid May (it was my husband’s birthday) and very cordial and warm. Her presence bolstered what was already shaping up to be a great experience at Circa! It wasn’t hard to make a reservation, or to modify it, and there was plenty of space inside for our large group. The beer was fantastic, the food was delicious, and the ambience was cool. My husband had a wonderful birthday thanks to Circa Brewing and Nicole, our server, and we still haven’t forgotten it months later! What a great way to finally get out and celebrate after such a difficult year.
I had held off on this place for a long time because I heard their brewer came from another brewery I wasnt a fan of, but I went with an open mind and the experience was horrible.First, the beer issues, first beer I ordered was the Dunkleweiss my buddy who got there a few minutes before me had ordered one and said it was good and we have similar tastes so I said ok. However, when they served it to me it was clear they had reached the bottom of the keg as the beer was a total yeast bomb and something I would never expect a brewery to serve to a customer. When I finally got the attention of a server which took 10 minutes I ordered a different beer. This time I ordered the Harvest Moon which was supposed to order a Rye Pale Ale. I have a feeling that I was served the wrong beer this time, but if they gave me the right beer this was not as described at all as it had no hint of Rye in it.I have to say I will not be returning to Circa, as there are so many other great breweries in this city that having an experience this bad makes it not worth another visit.
Love this place! The staff are the friendliest and the beer and food absolutely delicious. The pizza and fried chicken sandos are some of the best in the city. Orders are always quick to come out when dining in, and pick-up is also a breeze! It’s a huge place, always clean, and they are very considerate of your space.
I started going to Circa once or twice a month when it first opened and I have started going again post-lock down. It’s an interesting place with good beer and surprisingly (for a brewery) good food. The place is very well ventilated and the personnel is very tolerant to my small talk. But there are a few things worth being aware of:A) the sound system seems to be performing significantly below its potential. Should you care about that? Probably not but some people do and one of them is my friend.B) if you are male or use the men’s room you will eventually see the inside of the ladies room. For some reason the doors of the toilets are aligned in such a way that exiting the men’s room gets you in front of the ladies room door. It will happen. It has happened to everyone I know. Don’t sweat it...C) don’t be sensitive to glass size. They will give you a smaller size glass some nights but it still fits the same volume of beer as the larger glass. Get over it! I am almost over it myself...Go to Circa! You will love it! Ah, try the salumi pizza ;)
Came here pre-covid and enjoyed my experience. Im not even a big beer drinker, but I liked all the different beers that I tried. They have a huge beer selection and delicious food. They even have a whiskey bar. I went over the weekend and they had brunch. It was back in April around Easter and they had a Cadbury Creme porter which was pretty good. I also tried a strawberry sour that was really refreshing. They have a lot of delicious pizzas. We had the burrata pizza and the margherita pizza. We also got the chicken and waffles, which is my go-to for brunch. The chicken was super crispy and the waffle was perfect. A friend joined us and ordered the rosemary fries which were really good as well. I also tried the matcha and blueberry beers which I enjoyed as well. I loved the variety of all the beer and the food and would definitely go back.
Loved the beer! The pizza wasnt to die for, but it was tasty and paired well with the drinks we ordered. Staff were super friendly, the Assistant Brew Master was there and he talked to us pretty much the whole time about their process and different ideas for beers theyd tried or would like to try. You could definitely taste the passion in the pint.
Such a big fan. It’s nearby so we go all the time but the staff are truly lovely (and are handling the Covid regulations brilliantly). Peaches of Normandy, one of their brews, makes me weak in the knees. Support a local business and get a few of their large format cans. You won’t be disappointed. Also the food is pretty good too—love the Salumi and Boys Got Heat Pizzas.
My girlfriend and I had a couple of great dark draft beers and tasty personal pizzas. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful in making our beer choices. The house beer is actually made o site where you can see it as a part of the interior design. The pizza is made in their large wood fired brick oven. Circa Brewing is a fun place to go with plenty of seating in the heart of Downtown Brooklyn. They also have beer flights, so you can sample several beers until you discover your favorite.
Variety of beer available.. they have a color palette card to choose from and staff is friendly to give their recommendations. Have been there multiple times for lunch and was never disappointed. Great pizza too.. highly recommend their Margherita pizza.. one of the best Ive had.
Great place in Downtown Brooklyn! My wife and I were dropping our daughter off for college. Didnt have a ton of time in the city due to Covid. This place was right around the corner from our hotel. Very welcoming. Beer was very good. We wordered the wings, which were awesome! Looking forward to visiting again in the future!
Most of the beers were good. We split two flights, so 8 beer samples. The stout tastes watery but most other beers were good. I have compassion as the bar tender was the only one there for awhile and there were at least 40 patrons at the bar. I did get served 2 wrong beers in the sample though. The atmosphere was good overall. They did put the projector screen up without explaining why, with people watching tv. Decent experience in Brooklyn.
Came here late 7/6 around 11pm with my girlfriend and had a wonderful time made even better by the staff. Particularly the two women bartenders and the chef/cook with the bandanna. Their names elude me at the moment but they were all wonderful. The beer and pizza we had were a great combo as well. Will return again soon.
Pizza and beer are about as perfect a food pair as you can get, and you get a very, very good example of this pairing at the brewpub Circa. The first time my wife and I went here it was a HOT day in Brooklyn, and we were hungry, thirsty, and in exactly the right place. I had the Pilsner to cool off and a Groundskeeper with my food, and I found both to be excellent, no-frills examples of their styles that went great with the pizza. They do have sour list if youre feeling like having something a little more complicated. The Transmitter F3 is a terrific sipping Brett Saison. The pizza is solid. Nothing fancy, but with enough of a twist to justify costing more than a slice of the street. I like a little pepper on my pizza, so I was very happy with the Boys Got Heat. The venue was also just a cool hang. It was laid-back and casual, and a great place to get a drink and conversation. If youre in the area, its definitely worth checking out.
We ordered two pies and to be honest the pies are small. I mean it is one thing to say wow this is amazing pizza but its another to charger a for a large pie and get something that is basically dough. I would rate this place better if the owner would realize there are better places to get pies and burgers. $21 for a pizza and $22 for a burger idk what more to say. If you are in the area grab a beer but be warned the food is over priced.
Lively brewery. Packed on weekends. Weekday nights are perfect. Very nice staff. The only thing they should fix is the hinges on their outside door. The door is made of plastic and closes violently loud, disturbing anyone sitting by the very front. They should get hinges that soften the closing swing, in my humble opinion :)
BEER: Great brewery with excellent brews. I tried the Coconut Porter and the NEIPA and both were excellent. If they start bottling the beer, I will definitely buy those, but the food is another story.FOOD: If half of a restaurants food menu is pizza, I think its fair to expect that they do at least do that right. I sadly cant say that about Circa. The pizza was incredibly mediocre. How does one serve a pizza which is both burnt and soggy? How is that even possible? I am certain that I will not be coming back here for the food. Perhaps the beer but not the food.SERVICE: The service was good. Upon entering I was not approached or acknowledged in any way. I had to ask if I could sit at the bar. I will say that the restaurant was very busy at the time so I will give them a pass on that. The bar staff was also very busy but they gave me some time to browse the menu and took my order pretty quickly. The bar staff were largely attentive and responsive.Overall, I think the experience for me was lacking. Perhaps I am expecting too much, but if you want me to pay $20 for a pizza, make it a damn good pizza. Those are my two cents...
I went here this past weekend with a few friends. We came here because one of my friends heard great things about this place. We waited 15 min for a seat when the place wasnt even full. Our waiter was neither warm nor friendly. The menu is really limited. The burger seemed like a good choice. When I ordered the waiter didnt ask me how I would like my burger. So I asked him how is it cooked. He said they cooked it well because its mixed with beef and PORK. Im thinking to myself why didnt you tell me there was pork in the burger before? At that moment my friends and I decided to leave....
Had reservations for lunch on a Sunday and the place was pretty empty. Maybe because it was Christmas Eve or not. Staff was very nice and the beer I tried was on par. Very cool layout there. Had a really interesting but flavorful pizza (hollandaise egg Benedict) - very good.
I really wanted to give this place 5 stars. Its a gem in the neighborhood really pushing to do something different. The Great: Ambiance, Pizza, Apps, Shuffleboard. The Not So Great: The cocktails, The Beer (which is the biggest disappointment for a brewery) and the service. The rest is so good, that it still gets 4 stars. Well worth a visit.
They have really good craft beer! The atmosphere is really friendly and a bit hipster. There are really good selection on the beer and the aesthetics of the plave is reallt top notch. They have sit in booths and a bar as well as tall tables for small parties. Overall one of the best beer places in downtown Brooklyn!
Looking to kill time before a movie at Alamo draft house I stumbled in here on a busy Saturday. The place is beautiful with lots of room that can be divided for private parties. I didn’t eat but had a few of the beers at the bar. They are fantastic some of my favorites in the NYC area. The bar staff was also very friendly.
Would have given zero stars if I could, not for the food but for the attitude of the staff. Ordered lunch through the Ritual app, picked up food and sat at a corner in their outdoor seating provided. The place was practically empty except for a couple of people inside at the bar. After a few mins, the staff inside came out and said that they dont usually allow people to sit there and eat, if its takeout. That was ridiculous!! It was food brought from their own place and not allowed to sit and eat in a practically empty restaurant!! I was planning a Friday night out with my friends, they just lost 6-7 potential customers. Disgusted at their attitude. I am letting all my friends know to not go there.
Great sleak space, friendly staff and a new brewmaster who’s only too happy to answer any questions about his brews. The Blood Orange IPA was excellent. I wish someone had told me about this place before. What a gem! I stopped for brunch expecting the usual fare and to my surprise the menu was anything but, in a good way. I’ll be back for more.
Its a nice place. Went there with a few friends last night abed it wasnt too crowded, and considering it was Friday night that shocked me. The beer selection was about 8 or so drafts and about 20 cans of cider. Maybe it was because its summer, but there is a disproportionate amount of options. The drink prices are reasonable, but food is very expensive, so eat first. The clientele is the typical 25-40 year old white-collar guys that are all talking over each other. Also, this place is larger than you may think when viewed from the street.
This place is the best. I threw a small birthday here and not only did they let me come an hour early and decorate our own private section, but they allowed me to bring a cake and keep it in their fridge until we were ready for it. The service and pizza were great too!
Was really enjoying the chicken and waffles on the brunch menu. The waffle was excellent and the coating on the chicken drumstick that I ate was very good. Unfortunately when I bit into the bigger piece of chicken, to my dismay, the chicken was very undercooked and even cool to the touch. What a disappointment! The bartender automatically ordered another chicken and waffles for me. I was so turned off, so told him I no longer wanted the dish nor anything else. Of course, he did not charge me for the chicken and waffles, but only for the pilsner I drank. As mentioned, a very disappointing experience.
Ordered a cider called ciderkin, it tasted like salty beer. When I got around to ordering the margarita pizza I noticed in the review photos that they were skimpy on the cheese so I ordered extra cheese. No extra cheese came. Additionally, the pizza was COVERED in bitter olive oil while the menu détails say nothing about this on the MargaRita pizza. It made it impossible to even swallow the taste of the pizza. Did I mention it’s literally 95 degrees out here right now and there is ZERO air conditioner or fan going. Talk about almost passing out while eating your food. The cherry on top was having no garlic seasoning available for the pizza. I was trying everything in my power to get it down but they simply could not accommodate. Great vibe but the food is subpar and the service is questionable
A new concept of a Nano Brewery, a posh Nano Brewery. Slick place. I do not think they distribute to anyone else. So they are basically making the beer for the restaurant. Cutting out middle men and distributors. This is in my view a restaurant that brews its own beer and not a Brewery. The beer was good as was the meat n cheese plate.
The food was not as advertised, with a salad meant to be composed of endive, mustard greens, and dandelion greens showing up instead as mostly a pile of what looked like romaine. It was both tiny and too sweet — a disappointment at 14 bucks. It was the second time Id been to the place (which, incidentally, has a fun trivia night on Mondays) and my second time being underwhelmed by the overpriced food.A friend I was with ordered 14 bucks worth of broccolini which had stems so thick as to be partly inedible. An obscene price for the product which was, like my salad, described as if it was some kind of delicacy. I dont know whether any of his ingredients were missing like mine were, but it looked like glorified broccoli in sauce. A side.If you go, I guess go for the beer? I didnt have any, but other people seemed to be finding it drinkable and maybe it enhances the food.
Hey there Brooklynites, Gossip Girl here. Sometimes, the next th(fl)ing is lurking right around the corner. At Circa Brewing, youll find the perfect blend of sweet and sour. The beautiful bartenders will rock your world, but break your heart. But is there more than meets the eye? Dont say I didnt warn you! ;);)Xoxo

2022-05-07A really nice experience at Circa. The beers were delicious and try the Flaming Hearts cocktail that was both tasty and unique. We listened to the other reviews and ordered the sweat tea brined chicken wings… and all the rave reviews were absolutely accurate. Incredible, full of flavor and with the perfect amount of char. What looks like a small establishment from the street opens up to a large bar and expansive dining space. Plenty of seating even on a busy Friday night. It’s an unpretentious neighborhood bar with a good vibe. Friendly customer service from the bar and wait staff. Pet friendly too.

2022-01-13This place is so great! All of their staff are amazing, and I’m here any day of the week to hang with Anna! As a lady that flies solo at the bar often enough, she is so welcoming and fun to be around. Their food is great as is their cocktail program, and their wine selection is quite spectacular, considering that they are a brewery. The brews are also exceptional. I often make my husband come here just because we love everyone that works here, but especially Anna. She has a special place in my heart. If we weren’t both married, I might date her. I wouldn’t post this online but I’ve told her many times so it’s OK.

2020-12-07Great brew pub. The place has an amazing atmosphere that invites to spend here a lot of time.Every day offers some specials, we went on a Sunday and took advantage of the Sunday pizza special. The pizza was amazing we decided to take the meatless pizza which is a really great option if youre a vegetarian or vegan. We ordered on top the Mac n cheese which are really good. The beers were nice. They offer a 4 beers flight of their brews. The service was all the time friendly and ensured were feeling home.

2022-04-11I went to Circa upon opening one Friday and was impressed. Its in a weird location thats not super busy or popular for non-locals/non-shoppers, but dont let that deter you. I really loved the beers I had in the bright, open and clean space and the pizzas, wow! What a sleeper hit!

2021-07-24Good beer selection, decent food, nice atmosphere, but was yelled at by two of the three staff we interacted with for just sitting down. It wasnt even busy. It costs nothing to be kind, I dont know why people are so cheap with it. Left with a very poor impression overall.

2021-03-06The location is a wonderful place to celebrate the return of indoor dining (albeit at a reduced capacity). The Grassy-N-Sassy pizza was superb. The prosciutto was well seasoned, the cheese was fresh, the basil pesto was flavorful, and the arugula was a nice finishing touch. The Quality Control Pilsner was a good beer to wash it down. I even got a limited edition pint glass with their Saturnalia dark lager. This microbrewery and restaurant is truly a gem in downtown Brooklyn.
