We were picked up at a convenient spot in Brooklyn, right near multiple subway lines. The bus is comfortable, roomy, and in great condition. It holds 13 people in addition to the driver and the tour guide in the passenger seat. The tour guide (Isaac) knew more about beer than anyone Ive talked to, and he explained it in easy-to-understand terms, from the history of beer up through modern day beer production. We visited three different breweries, all with different styles and sizes as well. Each brewery was expecting us, and we got the royal treatment at each! My favorite was Five Boroughs Brewing, but all three spots were great and varied. We had a full meal at Circa Brewery, with a salad and a few different types of awesome pizza! We ate until we were stuffed! While everyone was a bit quiet as we boarded the bus, by the time we were touring the first brewery, everyone opened up and we all had a collective blast. The guide was great at breaking the ice, and many people shared their beer experiences with each other. This was a great social activity, and I can see why City Brew Tours has been so successful in other cities! I got the last ticket for this trip, but I definitely plan to do this again soon with a bunch of my friends. This is great for tourists too, you dont need to know anything about NYC or Brooklyn to have a great time!Good luck to Chad, Isaac, and the City Brew Tours staff!
We went on the City Brew Tour in Brooklyn, the Friday after Thanksgiving It was terrific!! We had a blast. Kat and Tim met up with us and we took a great ride around to these wonderful breweries. Tim was the best. He gave us a fun, fact filled night of beer and laughs. Kat joined in too, even though she was our “designated driver”. Both of them knew so much and made it a really great night out. We felt like we were out with friends, and we were! When we finished the tour they even gave us suggestions as to where to go next to finish our night. City Brew Tours is a great time Do it!!!
This was my third City Brew tour. My wife and I previously did Boston and DC. The Brooklyn tour was just as great as the other City Brew tours. The pick up location was easy to get to. The beer guide was very knowledgeable about beer history and the brewing process. We got to sample a lot of different beers. The food at Circa was great. Overall just a fun experience.
Thank you Cat and Jonathan at City Brew Tours for an awesome experience! I attended the Original Brew Tour, which included tastings at 4 breweries and lunch. The tastings provided were very generous (3-4 tastings at each stop or 1 full serving size) and lunch at Circa Brewing Company included salad, a variety of pizzas and fries. Throughout the tour, our guide Cat provided a lesson in the history of beer and general beer knowledge while our designated driver Jonathan ensured we arrived at each destination safely. I would definitely recommend this experience to others, and would even book another tour to try other breweries.
We had such a great time on our Brooklyn, City Brew tour. Firstly, not having to worry about how to get from brewery to brewery was fantastic. Second, Im a particularly picky beer drinker and every stop had at least one beer that I loved. Our guide was friendly from the start and witty and totally approachable, so everyone in our group was comfortable asking questions and giving feed back. I was a little nervous when we walked into our food stop as it was fairly loud, however I was pleasantly surprised when we had a private section in the back where we had privacy but could still feel the vibe of the restaurant. Additional, the pizza was fantastic! The Hawaiian pizza was a must try! At the end of the night everyone had a great time and left with smiles on their faces. I would definitely recommend going on the tour with a few friends. You might even pick up a few more by the end of the night. If you like beer and want some entertainment and education while drinking it, City Brew Tours is definitely the way to go! Welcome to NYC CBT!!!
We had Cat as our guide and Eddie as our brilliant driver on our Brooklyn craft beer tour. Cat had a wealth of knowledge and kept us well entertained for the whole day. We visited a good range of breweries and the lunch was amazing. Couldn’t of asked for a better day out drinking beer and meeting some great people along the way. Thanks again. Highly recommend.
This was a great way to learn about breweries in Brooklyn, and the only reasonable way to beer crawl from Williamsburg to Sunset Park. Got the chance to taste and learn about a wide variety of beers! Cat, the tour guide, was super knowledgeable about beer and the brewing scene in NYC. The tour was really well paced; enough time to check out the breweries and enough time in between to not get too drunk. Definitely recommend to anyone who wants to explore new neighborhoods and find their next favorite brewery.
This tour was awesome! A great value for the amount of beer and it included a great selection of different breweries. I particularly loved 5 boroughs and Circa. The pizza was amazing at Circa! This was a really great way to see the different neighborhoods of Brooklyn. Our guide was super funny, like a comedian! I need tour guides to be entertaining and he certainly was. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Do it!
This was my fifth City Brew Tour, and each one of them have been amazing in their own special way. However this tour, THIS tour I was excited for. City Brew Tours FINALLY came to NYC!!!! I can hop on the subway and and go on a brew tour any time I want! The tour picks up on Smith Street in Brooklyn, a great location, so get their early and do a bit of window shopping before pick-up. After a quick check-in process with our tour guide Isaac van we were off to the breweries! Our tour stopped at Five Boroughs Brewing Company, pizza and beer pairing @ Circa Brewing Company, ending at Strong Rope Brewery.Five Boroughs had one of the best Helles and Sours Ive had in a long time. I couldnt believe a brewery this large exists in Brooklyn!--@Circa we samples about 5 different beers paired with delicious varieties of wood fired pizza. (The Hawaiian pizza was amazing!)--Strong Rope was the first Farm Brewery Ive been to and had a real family feel to it. Not too mention some delicious beers!Isaac was an amazing tour guide! He made sure he went out of his way to ensure everyone fully understood the brewing process and always had a full glass. Our driver, Chad got us to each brewery quickly while somehow escaping all the Brooklyn traffic.Looking forward to going on another tour in the near future!
I went on this NYC Tour after already doings a City Brew Tour in Burlington. The entire tour is designed to maximize fun and learning for anyone from beer enthusiasts to those who dont love beer. The tour is unique to the city your in, including visits to local breweries (which you try all sorts of beers at). Our tour guide Issac brought a lot of knowledge and fun energy over the course of the tour as we got to learn more about the history of beer on each stop. The length of the tour was perfect (not so short that you felt rushed at any of the venues, not so long that you felt there was a lot of downtime). I would strongly recommend it to my friends and think its an amazing gift!
First off, the directions on the Beer Tour website on how to get to Circa Brewing in Brooklyn, which was our starting point, were excellent. The tour began promptly at 11:45 AM with our tour guide, Eddie Davila, providing a nice summary of what our day would consist of. The beers we sampled at Circa and the Five Boroughs were a good mix of what is popular today, especially among younger beer drinkers (IPA’s and sours). We also tasted a nice red ale at Circa and this is more in line with the beers I enjoy (although I was quite a bit older than the rest of the tour group). No matter, the group was very friendly and we all enjoyed Eddie’s discussion of the history of the brewing industry in Brooklyn. He was knowledgeable and had a clear, pleasant voice. My wife and I had a great time on Saturday and are now looking into the tour in Queens.
My husband and I loved our tour experience! Our guides Isaac and Tim were fantastic and knowledgeable. We sampled more beers than I expected, and they were all interesting and really amazing. We also loved the food pairing at Circa. We learned a lot, laughed a lot, and drank a lot. Great night out!
For my boyfriends birthday I wanted to do something different so I thought about what he loves so I booked a beer tour! We had Cat as our beer guide and she was simply amazing! We learned so much from all the knowledge she shared with us, she answered every question we had thrown at her, and she helped me find a beer that I liked! Cat made all the beer choices for us to try and there was not one beer we didn’t like or were disappointed with. She was funny, pleasant, very informative, and eager to tell us what she knows! You could tell she loves her job so it made the entire experience so much more enjoyable! We loved each venue we went to, they were clean, friendly and had amazing craft beers! When we book our next tour we will 100% be requesting Cat as our guide again!
Had a great time on our brew tour. Cat, our guide, was super personable and patient with questions. The beer kept flowing as did the good times. Felt very taken care of and learned a lot. I had never been to either of the breweries so it was great to learn about awesome places that I will try again in the future. The van was clean, staff was friendly, felt super safe being driven around, pours of beer were generous and would reccomend this tour to anyone who likes to drink beer. Cheers and thank you!
I booked this for my husband and me while we were in NYC for a weekend trip. It was a fantastic way to spend our afternoon. The stops were great and I cant wait to plan my next visit to NYC. Our driver Kate was very pleasant and a great driver. Our beer guide Tim was super knowledgeable and friendly. The beer and food was very tasty and it was awesome to see beer production. I highly recommend this tour outing. I cant wait to rebook for a different city!
Cat was such a wonderful guide! She knew everything about the brewing process and she was so kind. She answered all of my questions. I enjoyed each brewery. My favorite moment was tasting yummy french fries with various beers. Tim did a great job driving! The scavenger hunt was also a blast!
Ive been a big fan of City Brew Tours since i first took the tour in Burlington VT back in 2012- and again in 2014- and again in 2016! So of course i was excited to see the launch in Brooklyn. Every tour ive taken has been entertaining, enjoyable, and fully worth the price. Nothing beats a whole day of learning about-and more importantly drinking- great craft beer, with all the logistics and travel figured out for you.The Brooklyn tour was no exception. We did the after hours tour which started at 5PM and went to about 9PM. Our tour guide Isaac was funny and entertaining, and of course very knowledgeable about beer history. The tour bus was roomy and comfortable-definitely a better way of getting around the city than the usual walking/subway riding! It was also the perfect way for my group of 7 to all travel together. We visited 3 breweries that i had never heard of before, & enjoyed immensely. One of the best parts of the tour is that dinner is included and figured out for you- the pizza we had at Circa brewing hit the spot! The highlight of the tour for me was the last stop- getting a behind the scenes tour of Interboro Spirits. They had an atmospheric still, and a collaboration beer with the band Run the Jewels- so cool!I would definitely take the tour again- maybe the morning tour next time (nothing like drinking beer at 11am). I also cant wait to check out all the other cities that have opened up in the last few years!I would recommend this tour to anyone looking for a great group activity (itd be perfect for a birthday party or a bacher/bachelorette party), or just to anyone who is interested in the craft beer scene in Brooklyn. Its a great time!
I have previously done a City Brew Tour in another city so of course when I learned that it was in MY city it was a must. We visited 3 locations, 5 Boroughs, Circa and Interboro. We all met in front of a local shop and hopped in a van. Isaac was our guide and Chad (the owner) was our driver. The tour was informative in a fun way (How can information not be fun with a beer in hand?) and the personalities of both were great. The food included from Circa was AMAZING. This tour was a great way to learn about local breweries. Im excited to see what they have in store as they learn the ways of NY and hopefully branch out of Brooklyn. **hint Chad**
This is the second tour my wife and I have done, the first one was in Philly. They were both great. Chad the owner is awesome and the tour guides are great and very knowledgeable. My only complaint on the NYC tour was we only visited three breweries, on the Philly tour we visited four. So if you can add one more that would be great and also since the tour is in Brooklyn it would be cool to visit the Brooklyn brewery. Other then that it was a great time and we will be back.
Clayton was our City Home Brew Guide. He was awesome!! Learned so much about how to start off my homebrewing journey over the course of our session. Would definitely recommend this experience if you are new to home brewing and are nervous about it. Its also a really fun and stress free activity to do during this covid-19 crisis. 5 stars, would recommend. Plan on doing another class & I definitely plan on this being a life long hobby now! Thanks again!!
The tour itself was fun, our guide Kat was amazing and informative. The bus was a school bus which was fine, but was littered with garbage throughout the bus before our tour even started. For as much money as we spent it was way below my expectations. Our bus driver had no idea what we were there for and where we were going which made things very stressful. The billing part of it bothered me because the items were not broken down in a cohesive manner which made it extremely difficult for a large group. In particular, when one member of my group needed to cancel, I was refunded a little over half of what was expected. The tour itself was fun and informative. I would not recommend having a large group because I dont think this tour is set up to handle a tour of more than 10 people. With my group of 18 people, it seemed like it was thrown together, which was very disheartening. The destinations changed 4 times by the day before the tour. If this group size was too large for the breweries to handle, this should have been communicated with me before I placed my initial deposit, rather than just winging it.
This was the third City Brew Tours experience my wife and I have had, and the NYC one fits right in with the others for their excellence in organization, safety, and fun. And BEER!Our tour hit up Interboro, Kings Beer Hall, and Circa. We had a variety of foods at KBH, including wings, tots, taco and salad. The owner was present with us and did a great job of asking for feedback without being overly intrusive in our experience. Definitely give it a shot especially if you enjoyed your tours elsewhere--glad it made it to NYC!
I booked this tour a while back in September for my husbands birthday. 3 days before the tour I received a confirmation email with what to do and when to arrive there. I arrived 10 minutes before my tour in Brooklyn and no one was there. We waited till 5 and nothing. I called the phone number provided and when the women picked up she said that there is no longer a tour at 5 pm on Sunday’s. That they had cancelled it a while back and that I would not be doing it today. I came a long way from jersey into the city to get to Brooklyn only to be disappointed and to disappoint my husband on his birthday. On top of that when I asked for a refund they said that they had to speak to the office manager and give me a call tomorrow. I thought this was crazy because it obvious I should receive a refund. In either way extremely irresponsible to cancel a tour a not send a cancellation email and then not refund the money or a offer a free tour. I am extremely disappointed and do not recommend this tour site.
Great time. I’m involving into this world of micro beer and doing this tour gave me an idea of which beers I prefer. Now I won’t be intimidated when I walk into a brewery. The beer guide was excellent kudos to him did a wonderful job explaining the brewing process when inside the brewery with all the equipment. The tanks are enormous. My only issue was with traveling from breweries to breweries. Quite a distance walking wise and the second issue is the beer guide should have a speaker or a small microphone so he can just talk and not have to talk to reach everybody in the group as they tend to spread out during the tour. I would highly recommend this tour. Two thumbs up. Thank you.

2022-05-29Jonathan was my tour guide. He was very knowledgable and definitely made the experience fun and informational. You can tell that he knew the brewing process intimately and was able to explain it in layman terms. The beer selection was varied but he made sure that you also got to taste beers in and out of your comfort zone. I highly recommend this tour.

2021-07-13My partner bought me this experience as a birthday gift. I had such a wonderful time, three breweries in Queens I never heard of and loved it/ will be returning! My favorite was Big aLICe Brewing with their sake style beer. On top of good craft beer, our instructor Eddie was really nice and knowledgeable! This is also a great opportunity to meet new friends, all ages in our group as young as 21 and as old as 70. This is a must do as a craft beer enthusiast.
