City Club Hotel in New York
Positive: Nothing. Its run down and the staff barely speaks English. Negative: This hotel is a one star hotel. The tub, it advertises walk in showers, was on a 2 foot pedestal. The rooms are SMOKING. The beds suck, There are no USB chargers,, no outlets,, and the air didnt work. The light went out in the bathroom too.
Positive: We liked the midnight crew of the hotel, unfortunately we had to work with them on multiple occasions but they were very helpful each time. The bed was comfortable. Negative: Our ceiling leaked and we were given towels to clean the mess ourselves, the breakfast was poor, the evening front desk was not helpful at all, and the air conditioners didnt work well.
Very rarely do I give a 1 star. Got the smallest room amd the smalle, and looks like I booked it that way. Checked in late night. Called in before hand to make sure it was possible. Checked in. One room was decent size and when asked they said no other rooms available that night and to check back in the morning. Next morning ask the reception for another room. Was told the supervisor was out and I can get a call back on options. No callback. Called after a few hours. Was told no more chance to change room for next day, was told we should have packed up the items and it was too late to change the room even though that was not the instruction we got. We were promised a queen bed next day, but we just stayed in the room as it was just one more day. The next day we were charged an extra fee saying every room is charged that even though we were told by priceline we paid in full. Noone said that there was a resort fee during the booking. Very average service.Only pro is its right next to times square.
I am a 55 year old black disabled vet and business owner for over 30 years. I really do not appreciate being followed by this idiot Omarian who works at the door. The idiot follows me from the front door to the restaurant and asked was I staying at the hotel.I have very little patience for idiots so I told him yes! Then proceeded to give him my room number. I was dressed in some very expensive Nike workout apparel and had just returned from a early morning walk. So the only thing that would have made this idiot say that was the color of my skin. Because he did not ask the white lady whom walked in with me nor the Asian couple whom I met the day before and I was talking to. They both asked him why he had approached me in this manner when they both knew I was staying there. The only positive was George a very nice and helpful gentleman. He got us in at a nice restaurant and worked with us on getting a better room.Lastly be aware the rooms are small but bathrooms are nice. The micro fridge did not have any room for additional items. They are stuffed with drinks for you to purchase.
Positive: The hotels location is unmatched, but it is small. It is also very dark inside, and there isnt much space to linger about. The hallways were, frankly, scary and basement-looking. The room was small, and the bed was smaller. Gorgeous bathroom. Negative: Its small, dark, cramped, absurd incidentals fee, and food/snacks/room service are horribly overpriced.
Positive: Well maintained even it¿s old, but clean, staffs are helpful, thanks to also nice asian lady in the reception area, very pleased with my stay, bath room are clean;bed sheets comfortable;towels very white n clean, wifi OK;bfast is great Negative: None , all is good
Positive: The location was the only thing along with staff member George. Negative: The rooms were small and dated. The micro fridge was full of stuff they wanted you to buy. So you could not get anything else in it. Lastly I am a 56 year old black veteran and business owner. I really do not appreciate being racially profiled by staff.
Positive: The location was great, it was easy to walk around Midtown and the subway connections to uptown and downtown were always short. The lobby was nice but deceiving, as the rest of the hotel was out of date. Negative: Our room was moldy and you could smell the mold as soon as you opened the door. The carpet hat red stains all over it, and the bathroom floor (faux tile) was buckled and coming up off of the floor. This hotel is not 4 stars and should not be offered.
Only thing great about this hotel was location. There is no parking included in hotel which is like about 50$ a day extra. Hotel should consider giving a discount for parking. no coffee maker or microwave. And the “snack & drink bar is ridiculous “Very outdated & felt enclosed. If you can stretch your arms out while you are in bed & hit the wall (when the bed is supposed to be in the middle of the room - well then you might as well rent a shoe box to sleep in ) lobby was barely a lobby & entrance was & was super plain. Pay the 30-50$ more a night to get something more comfortable somewhere else
This hotel is a treasure in downtown Manhatten, so close to loads of attractions! it is an older location but beautifully up to date. The service of the front check in staff was always kind and helpful and focused on the best experience we could have. The beds were super comfy and the shower and elongated tub were great. I actually unexpectantly needed to book an extra night for a week later and Josh at the front desk (may have been the manager) was super helpful and gave me a great rate. When we return to NYC...thats where we will aim to stay. Thank you so much!
Positive: The location is amazing and the balcony is great! Negative: There is no parking included in hotel which ran us $55/day extra. There is also no coffee maker or microwave. There were a few great employees (housekeepers were very kind and one lady at front) but some just seemed annoyed that we had kids and a dog.
Location, staff & service are great. Nice size room for an NYC hotel. But it desperately needs an update/maintenance. I’m not talking about decor choices; I mean I don’t think the rooms have been touched at all in 20+ years. Wallpaper is yellowing and peeling/curling at the edges. Carpet/suede day seat had visible stains. Furniture has obvious wear & tear, and not in a charming way. I went to turn off the shower and the knob fixture literally came off in my hand!On the upside, the water pressure is good and the bed is comfortable except for the pillows (zero head/neck support). This could be a truly great hotel overall if they would just invest more in maintenance and upkeep.
Loved my 5-day stay at this hotel. Yes, its a little bit older, but it has its charm and the staff more than make up for it. The manager, Joshua, was especially wonderful - he upgraded me (very nicely) without my asking! I felt so well looked after every day. If anyone was looking to stay in the area, I would recommend City Club 100%!
My friend booked this hotel for a weekend in NYC. It was 2 blocks away from Times Square but quiet enough at night. I will book this hotel again solely for the shower and bed. I took the most amazing shower in our room with perfect temperature and water pressure. It felt great especially after a hot night out in the city. The beds were soft, the comforters felt like a cold marshmallow.
We had a nice room with a king sized bed and we loved our room. The front desk attendant was extremely gracious and made us feel welcomed as gold tier expedia members. It was close enough to Times Square and yet far enough away to see stores we hadnt noticed before. Our stay was wonderful.
Stayed for one day the service was great. The hotel is a bit outdated everything was clean but had an “aged” touch to it, the View was terrible we kept the shades down if you’re looking for a hotel with one I don’t recommend this one.Things I did like are the dimmable lights inside the rooms , umbrellas provided in the closet, cotton balls and cotton swabs available, early luggage check in, the mirrors in the bathroom and checkout being at 12pm.We didn’t have any problems with noisy neighbors or random loud noisesThe lady at guest services was very nice and helpful. I believe this is a good place for a quick walk to Times Square. Also plenty of eateries nearby.
This hotel was cool at first. I booked through hotels.com. The room rate was fine, neither the hotel website or hotels.com said anything about the 200 deposit but I didn’t mind because I would get that back, but I wish I would have been notified about that so I could of had the extra money ready to go. So I paid those fees plus the resort fee which was fine, then I was also charged an additional 131 for a hold on the room which makes no sense because I then paid for the room in full apon arrival. So there was some confusion as far as why extra money was being taking outThen on top of that my room has a mouse running around attempting to eat the food that was brought back to the hotel. So they gave me a new room, we then get to that room & everything seems fine, the person even said it was one of the best rooms because it is reserved for business travelers only. The next day when it time to check out I figured I’ll take a shower before we leave, and when I got to turn on the shower the water was off, same for sink & same for the toilet. When it eventually turned back on the water starting coming out a different color. After the mouse incident I was completely turned off by the hotel. I don’t think I will be staying at this hotel again, for it to cost so much money it’s not worth it
Positives: the bed was comfortable, the bathrooms are huge with good water pressure. They aren’t stingy with the soaps or toiletries. It’s a pretty no fuss check in.The negatives: it smells very strongly of marijuana and other bad smells. I don’t mind it here or there, I just wish you could get away from it.For a cheaper hotel to stay in it isn’t all that terrible, however it did make me a bit worried about how well they cleaned the rooms in the COVID era.
City Club Hotel1/5 TerribleUnfortunately this hotel was a horrible experience by far the worst hotel I’ve stayed in ever, especially for the price paid! From the wall paper peeling off the walls too new guests walking into our room while my wife was getting dressed. The toilet constantly clogging to the bathroom door derailing and getting stuck. The lack of space to properly unpack and accommodate 5 guest with nowhere to even place luggage. The beds were so uncomfortable we nearly had to drink sleeping pills to help cope with knowing that we had to sleep on them. Fortunately the location was in decent walking distance from the subways and local landmarks so it was easy to stay way from the room as much as possible. The only memorable thing City Club had was the showers water pressure and the chocolate chip cookies that were left after room service. Don’t believe the pics of the room. The restaurant portion is nice and staff were really helpful and kind !!!BEWARE!!!!
It’s got a cute indy, hipster vibe, but most of the rooms are small as can be, and strangely designed. The bathrooms are spectacular though! Just be warned that this is a “party” hotel. It is not suited for family’s or business stays. Nighttime here can get rather loud and rowdy.
The hotel is lined with carpet that has a funny odor and the light were extremely dim. We were in a queen sized room, which was fairly nice but the bathroom door was locked so it didnt close properly and the sink had a leak. The chairs intended for lounging had stains on the cushions and pillows not to mention they advertised a mini fridge in the rooms and there was no fridge. Overall, for this hotel to be close to attractions such as Times Square and Bryant Park, you would expect more appeal and cleanliness
After a minor issue with the room I was issued the attendant switched our room immediately. The rooms was clean and really welcoming. Full bar, even an umbrella. Bathroom was really nice. They even have a sewing box I guess just in case something of ours needed a quick fix. Ill definitely return there.
Very loyal and nice staff. When I checked out, I forgot the fitness bracelet in the room, and returned for it. A staff member told me that I could pick it up tomorrow, but when asked when my plane was leaving, and after I told that it leaving today, he did everything to return the fitness bracelet that I had forgotten in my room, and they returned it to me within a few minutes.
While the room was nicely decorated and when you could find them the staff was nice. However my bed sheets were old and had stains, as well as particles of food were in the bed. We did not eat there, nor did we have any food with us.i did grab some of the nuts from the mini bar that morning, not when I came in that night. The soap they provided had been opened and used already. Thankfully I had my own. I tried calling the front desk several times as well as trying to find them down stairs. No on was available. Thankfully my fiance and I was able to sleep on the couch thing, but it was horribly uncomfortable. When I spoke the front desk that morning, I showed them the pictures of the dirty sheets, he told me not to worry about the payment for the nuts and that he would see speak with housekeeping nothing more. Fast forward almost 2 weeks later, they charged my card for an extra 19.60 and a charge for 11.80.which would have been the price of the nuts that I got from the mini bar. It took a week and a half for the incidental charge of a $100.00 and I only recieved 88.23. If they were going to still charge me for the nuts there was no reason why it couldnt have been taken out of the incidental money. I was very very upset with having to go through this inconvenience at the hotel and then come home to a totally different state and have issues with my card being carded incorrectly.
The hotel rooms are much smaller than advertised. Definitely catfished. Extremely poor security, a man attempted to convince my group in the lobby to let him into our hotel room and was just told to leave and he was not phased at all. My group was terrified to sleep. The hallway is so narrow and tiny, the lobby as well. EXTREMELY CREEPY!! Please be careful. You’re better off spending a little more money and staying at a name brand hotel
We checked into the hotel on Friday night. Initially, they said that their system was down and we waited for about 10 minutes. The elevator and the hallways smelled like Marijuana and cigarettes. Once we entered the room, the second hand smoke was unbearable. I opened the window during winter weather and I still couldnt stand the scent unless I was sitting directly in front of the draft. Eventually we asked to switch to another room. They gave us another room on 7th floor. We opened the door and the room already has guests in it! It was such an awful experience. We ended up asking for a refund and booked a room at another hotel instead.
This hotel is nothing I mean nothing as it is displayed in the photos online ! The hallways smell like trapped urine and cigarettes!! The rooms are so small and scary ! I literally was afraid to sleep ! The customer service is a joke no extra blankets and barely towels ! I slept in closets better than this ! If you like cheap dirty low class hotels by all means stay here
We are so thankful to the staff for making our trip so memorable in this crazy time. We came from Long Island to get away for 3 days. Rooms were very clean and we were upgraded to a family suite! Darnell was very helpful and always pleasant. Paid parking was directly across the street. We used spothero. Ate at The Flame Diner next door. They were very generous and friendly. Took double decker bus tours around the city instead of subways. Starts just a few blocks away. Hotel is two blocks from Bryant Park where there are outdoor shops, outdoor food, and ice skating. Layered to stay warm and were fine. Location was perfect and the hotel rate was unbelievabley inexpensive. We stayed alert and felt safe despite the city being much emptier. It was peaceful to us and something we would not have done if it wasnt for the pandemic.
Got room through hotels tonight a few times-Room was very bad. Smelly, looking like the renovation wasn’t done since 70th. Was checking in at night, was waiting for the receptionist over 20 minutes.-Changed some extra fees from the security deposit (something like service fee or facility charge; Was not using minibar-The shower was broken, water was all around the room-No ventilation in the bathroom+Got a face mask and plastic gloves at the reception (those things was impossible to find anywhere that time)+Receptionist literally saved my life by printing out 3 pages file that I needed for work+Once paid security deposit in cash (the amount was a bit higher then reg), but that was really super helpfulP.S loved employees. (No fake “corporate service-fake smiles”, but really good personality and unique for NYers ABILITY to really LISTEN what the client wants)
Had a room next to the elevator. Noisy neighbors in the hall when we checked in but thats almost all we heard. Turned out to be a great room.Very clean. Fantastic housekeeping each day. Great location close to Broadway shows and subways to almost anywhere just a few blocks away. Almost too close to Times Square which gets old quickly.Strongly suggest you go south to Battery Park area for your souvenirs and dont buy ANYTHING near Times Square.Love this hotel though. Will recommend it to anyone visiting NY.
Location, good customer service always a smile at the front desk and a good place for a family. I was upset at first because on the site they offer a 2 room apartment for my family group (5 total) and when we entered the room the reality was that it was 1 rooms with 1 bed. However, once they set everything up we ended up pretty happy...it is a duplex setting. On the first floor they had the sofa bed and they installed the roll up bed...upstairs there was a queen size bed. Down stairs a half bathroom and upstairs a full bathroom with a great shower. Great towels and toiletries. I would say that this setting is better suited for family that for 2 couples...unless they are really good friends. But in general I loved the hotel and the great customer service they offer.
DO NOT USE THIS HOTEL! They use heightened filters for their rooms. I booked a room to stay 7/14 and once we got to the floor there was a strong odor on the entire floor. Once I swiped to go into the room....smelled like cigars and urine. The receptionist Shawn sent me to another room and guess what? The room smelled even worse and it didnt even look like they attempted to sanitize anywhere! I asked Shawn hey this room smells horrible and he replied Hi my name is Shawn, oh gosh like he was hypnotized it was eerie like the movie GET OUT. He did attempt at first but I wanted a refund because I didnt feel comfortable there. Simply put dont waste your time
Positive: Nothing Negative: One it was supposed to be a suite and it ended up being two separate rooms, There were no blankets available only sheets to sleep with, no coffee maker in the room, a frig full way, way, way overpriced drinks, $29.00 per shot crazy, No vending, no breakf
If we could give a negative star review we would. My girlfriend and I decided to stay at this hotel for a night because of the location. 100% waist of money. Not even 30 seconds in the room we noticed how the walls were stained and cracked. As soon as we walked in we noticed a musty smell that smelled like an animal died inside, and to our surprise we found a rat trap with dead rats in it. We didn’t want to sleep there because of that, and they denied us a refund for the horrible room. Do not go to that hotel. There are way better hotels for cheaper and have the same location.
Nice overall hotel with good service and strategic location, positioned in the middle of new york 5 minutes away from the times square. Their service is good and amicable. Rooms are small but that be expected from New York hotels especially one that is arguably affordable. What i didnt like is the size of the bed that is below 2 meters so if a person is tall he will not be able to sleep comfortably.
We stayed here for a quick two day getaway. Our room was on the ninth floor. There was a balcony but very awkward as we did not have any views. There was a 5 foot tall concrete wall, but I guess that’s what keeps people from jumping over. Hotel staff was friendly doorman extremely polite. The hotel is very centrally located within walking distance to everything. Very affordable as well. Would definitely stay here again.

Amazing little treasure of a place to stay. Worth every penny just wish I could stayed more than one night.I had booked a room which I was happy with and they bumped me to another type. The interior was sublime. Bathroom had a marble finish throughout. Simple stunning.
The room was very royal, but a bit small. The bathroom would give you the royal feel and added to that you have a mini bar in your room! The staff was very nice & friendly and they keep your luggage in cloak room before your check-in and after check-out which was very advantageous for us as we were able to explore other attractions of the city without bothering to carry our luggage after we checked-out! And the advantage of it being in heart of Manhattan is an understatement :)
We stayed here for 3 nights at the end of our trip. The property itself is kept immaculately clean. Plenty of free use equipment available from the hotel. Transportation in the area was pretty easy. The staffs were very helpful with any questions you may have. I would definitely stay here again next time.
Our stay in this hotel was quite miserable. The pictures of this hotel are quite deceptive. The ratings are also misleading . They left us stranded at the airport after they had agreed via email that a car would pick us up . The manager saw nothing wrong in this service failure and refused to accept responsibility for the error. The air conditioning was not working , the bathroom tiles were broken, the hotel furniture belongs in a flea market . The mattress was not comfy and had dust mites. The Wifi was slow and problematic. The hotel is in need of renovation and a more customer centric manager. Our stay in this hotel dampened our vacation. I will definitely not recommend this hotel. After checking out and settling our bill fully , the hotel tried to charge our card. The hotel manager - Pete was quite unwelcoming. Generally not a pleasant experience. . I am usually very accommodating but believe I will be doing a great injustice to fellow travelers if I do not write this review. This hotel is a no no.
This was my first visit to NYC. This hotel was awesome! Far enough away from the main strips to be quiet but close enough to the action that we could walk to everything. The bed was comfortable, the design of the room was flawless and the view of the street and buildings below were pretty cool. I would definitely stay here again. It was the best priced hotel with a high rating that we could find.
Worst service ever and never going to stay their. Im not going to recommend this place to no body. I made a reservation in Hotel app and when I went their their was no reservation and they treat me very rude and disrespectfull Then when to another Hotel 1 in the morning. Went to Hamilton Inn.
The hotel is fantastic. One of the best Ive ever stayed at. The only complaints I have are that there was no microwave and no coffee machine. The rooms are great and the bathrooms are fantastic. Its also in a good location. The staff are extremely helpful and kind. We ran into one in the metro and he offered us help and told us where we needed to go to get to our destination. Great hotel.
My wife and I took the kids to New York for spring break this past week and we loved this hotel. The location as 2 blocks from Time Square, the staff was outstanding and the queen and sofa beds were absolutely comfortable and well blanketed. Our club room with 2 levels had a window that opened toward the street and the views are terrific. At 8 p.m. each night a staff member brought up 2 home made chocolate chip cookies (which the kids devoured quickly). The shower had plenty of hot water and plenty of towels for all of us. Our son got very sick one evening and had to go to the ER from stomach pains and made a bit of a mess in the half bath at 1 a.m. The staff came to the room, cleaned up the mess, remade the bed with fresh sheets and our maid asked how our son was doing each day after. Parking is a bit expensive as we came in on Monday and left Friday morning for a total of $200.00. Outside of the expensive parking, we love City Club hotel and will be back again in the next 12 months. Thanks guys and please send us any specials you are running on rooms - maybe my wife and I will come up to have a little fun by ourselves in the fall!
When my flight got cancelled I had to find a place last minute to stay, and I got a great rate at the City Club Hotel (around $150 including taxes). It was v centrally located, the staff were friendly and efficient, and the room was decently sized and clean. All in all a very pleasant experience.
Awful. Great staffing, but horrible space. My room was the size of a the bed. The worst part is the room didnt have any cell phone service. I felt very uncomfortable staying there the night because I couldnt receive or make calls. I tried to cancel my reservation but they refused to give me my money back. I had to leave periodically to check my phone to make sure I didnt get any important messages.Although my time here was quite awful, the front desk was very pleasant and tried their best with what they were given.
Beautiful boutique hotel. Small but had an elegant personal touch. Stayed with a few friends for a place tho crash after a night of birthday celebrations. However there was a large roach in the bathroom. It freaked everyone out.We made a complaint but they accused us of smoking in the room when none of us smoke. It was uncomfortable unprofessional to not address the issue at hand then follow up with an accusation so I probably wont return.
We got a 4 beds suite. It was 4 beds crammed in a mediocre smallish room that didnt look at all as the pictures we saw online when booking. The toilet seat was stained when we got in (they cleaned it after we complained and the staff was friendly). For the price I wasnt expecting a 6 stars hotel, but not even a north Korean experience.Location is great, but I wouldnt stay here again.
The room we got was much smaller than stated. Instead of 195 square feet it only had about 134 and we could not even open a suitcase. They try to rip off the guests with false information and unauthorized credit card charges after the departure. I cannot recommend this hotel with these practices. Do not believe the staff (hotel manager). Legal steps are initiated.
Everyone at the front desk is extremely helpful. Any questions or concerns are taken care of immediately. Robert was very helpful pointing me in the right direction and getting me on my way this morning. It’s also nice to have a cooler with some ice thanks to the other gentleman at the desk today. I’ll be back soon!
Ideal location surrounded by private members clubs and other hotels. Quiet location but only 5 or 10 mins walk from Rockefeller centre, Bryant park, times square, central station and much more. We had 2 teenagers so connected rooms were ideal. Great staff & lovely rooms. Highly recommended.
We stayed for an overnight adventure in New York. The location was just enough off the path to be quiet but close enough to be within walking distance of everything we wanted to do. Loved everything from the comfortable beds to the morning room service before our departure. Will recommend.
Worst customer service experience ever, they charged my card with $100 incidentals for each night totalling 3 nights thus $300 and about $700 on card. Promised to credit my card upon check out but didnt. After I painfully made 3 calls to hotel was rudely told by Pete one of their managers that the money is with my bank, I should not bother them. I told him to provide me proof of the credit to my account to which he said there is a law that prevents him from doing that. I was like OMG...you kidding me!. Which law?..to which he had no answer. Called my bank and they say they dont have the credit just like I suspected....its like a con now to me. Be careful with your plastic with these guys. Bank now opened investigation into this. Never again City Hotel...respect your customers and be honest.
Stayed here for one night and had booked a Standard Room online. When I went to check in, I was surprised to find out that they gave me a free upgrade to one of the suites! Everything was clean, spacious, and comfortable and the walk out balcony had a great view. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend staying here!
Rude staff. Didnt even say hello or goodbye when we left. Unhelpful and completely uninterested in their guests and their comfort. We arrived early and they told us we could check in by 10-11. We changed our plans for that day - and then had to sit and wait until after 3 ...Gave us the wrong price estimates - AND the toilet ran all over the bathroom floor. As you can see - not a great experience.
Absolutely amazing experience. Central location on 44th.. 1 block away from 5th (shopping district) and 2 blocks away from 7th (times square)!!! The room was beautiful. Super clean, super modern, huge bathroom and mirror!! Commmfiest bed and pillows! Only view from the windows was another building 5ft away lol but who needs a view from a hotel when youre 2 blocks away from Times Square.. our room was for sleeping not a tourist location. Staff was by far the best part of our experience. They were beyond friendly and accommodating, and they knew we were new to the city so they offered recommendations for food, shopping, everything. They were so genuinely interested in how our trip/experience was going.. that they randomly brought us a complimentary bottle of red wine on our anniversary. Amazing that they even remembered/went out of their way to make us feel special. OH and they brought cookies everyday. That were DELICIOUS!!10/10 recommend. :)
My room was tiny and on an elevator shaft and storage room. I was woken up approximately 15 times due to noise in the storage room throughout the night and the elevator moving. The staff was pretty unsympathetic and blamed it on my room typology -- I had the smallest room (which was still over $200/night) and just because the room is small, doesnt mean it shouldnt be somewhat quiet in a 4-star hotel. I also ordered breakfast and for $8 berry plate, I received fewer than 20 berries - it looked more like a garnish. The shower was great, but the inability to get a good nights rest is a dealbreaker in a 4-star - an unapologetic staff that was clearly aware of this issue added insult to injury. I will not return. PS I have never written an online review of a hotel, so please note, this was an extraordinary circumstance and avoid the small room at all costs as they informed me they are all in the same location on each floor.
Everything was pretty great, only reason it wasnt five stars was because i found a bug in the bathroom and at one point our cards didnt work at one point (we were able to correct this pretty simply). A maid also came into our room while my partner and i were asleep (however i blame us as we didnt put the dont disturb sign up the night prior). The cookies left on the bed daily are pretty darn delicious, and front desk and workers are helpful and friendly. Hard to find at first in terms of location so pay attention to signage. Overall a great stay.
When we come into the city for a play we stay at CC. We stay in a 2 story suite. First floor is a livingroom and powder room then a spiral staircase takes you up to the bedroom. I love the concept and the space which you dont find in many nyc hotels. And as far as pricing, descent hotels in nyc are more $$ than anywhere else in the US. The price is totally worth the space & decor. The gorgeous architectural ceilings and chocolate marble baths make it a no brainer.
Tired 70s decor. First room had no functional A/c took over an hour for them to give up and move me to a room with working air but later discovered toilet flushed on its own every 20 minutes (I turned off its water supply so j could sleep) drains were largely blocked formed a lake when I showered not nice. They did fix the following day. Breakfast at attached Daniel Bolud restaurant was disappointing at best toasted bagel was barely warm and more stale than crisp I am amazed Mr Bolud allowed it to be served in his name. Will use diner next door tomorrow. Bed was comfortable. Staff were nice and polite but incompetent.
Havent stayed here. I do not give bad reviews unless provoked. I passed this place while visiting NY. I wanted to know if anyone there had a response to the public regarding their treatment of employees. The lack of response, to the video evidence is disrespectful to other potential customers. That makes this place and any associated hotels a NO for me.
Its a quaint little hotel, the atmosphere and room design speak of the height of rocknroll and disco and glam rock... You can literally imagine the room being used for an all night debauchery with drugs and booze and naked groupies... before being trashed to pieces by the guitar player in a coke rage... The good old days, sweet & romantic - but now we are in the COVID era... I wish the rooms were cleaner!
The City Club accommodated a friends last minute reservations when an Airb&b fell through. The room is beautiful and spacious! The staff is not only helpful, but extremely friendly. We will always come back to City Club from now on, even when there are cheaper Airb&b options available.
Cheap price=bad conditon.size of room does not matter. It will small. However, room is preseved from early 2000.Everything is dirty, was hard to go to sleep with afraidness of bugs or somethin. super dirty mat underneath that linens... hope you pay a bit more and go to cleaner hotel. Do not come here...
The smell of marijuana from reception to the 9th floor was just unbelievable i checked in at 11pm because we were traveling from Ireland 🇮🇪 booked room with two beds and balcony with city views what a joke there is only 3 rooms in the entire hotel with balconies and they are booked out indefinitely lol no manager available to express our concerns, the receptionist was a really nice guy tried to relocate us to a better room when he came with us to the 7th floor there was a full on party going on in 1 of the rooms next to ours NO THANK YOU so back to reception tried a room on the 8th floor public are just walking in off the street not being asked for id or proof that they have rented a room this place is a joke should be closed down extremely dangerous feeling please dont reserve any rooms here
Dont stay here, the staff is incompetant and rude. I cancelled my reservations and they still charged my credit card for $2,400. They refused to refund my credit card, despite the fact that I called and talked to someone to cancel my reservations. The General Manager - Lauren Reynor was completely unapologetic and incredibly rude.
This place had atrocious customer service, especially the front desk. I stayed here using HotelTonight in mid-January and they couldnt find my reservation because I had added a guest, and for some reason they only had the guests name. The representative at the front desk (I checked in around 4pm) was ready with a quick, Well you can call customer service at HotelTonight but theres nothing we can do but luckily I found a receipt that had my name and they begrudgingly checked me in. I talked to another guest in the hallway later who similarly complained that the 2 women at the front desk were very unprofessional and inhospitable.
I had to leave in mid night due to beg bug bites and it was my 30th b day w my husband. We left and went to the londen. Lauren the managervwas awful I was in a deplex suit a 600 $ a night room* there were nothing but problems to being with on the friday I checked in on my b day but me and my husband were gonna make the best of it. Then I wake up with bites all over my face wrists and neck. I run to staff and they are rude blaming me??? I left in mid night to the wonderful londin hotel! When I spoke to Lauren it was the most unprofessional experience and even more unpleasant than the shity club hotel!!! I stayed at the london till Tuesday so on monday Lauren decided to charge my debit card for noise complaint? When we spoke she yelled called me names didnt care I left her hotel in dead of night on my 30th bday. I never write bad reviews but this place and the manager lauren was rude and awful. They also dont have their own restaurant and lie in advertising. The restaurant is its own entity and amazing! So lauren continues blaming me I told her im still nyc fax to london to show me these charges I immediately called my bank disputed the charges and was made whole by my bank *deciding neglect & unfair charges by lauren. You runied my 1 30th birthday your hotel is horrable I cried all n8ght stay away from this theifting lieing and horribly managed hotel!! Its 100% zero. Go 2 london hotel or strand or wilcot for fair prices with ppl who appreciate your business* awful shame on you lauren!!!
I can only regret this booking and ask you- do NOT stay here. During the heat wave in NYC the AC in the room stopped working. After trying to find different sulutions, like ventilator, the manager suggested that we check in to a close by hotel, but 100% on our expences. My kids slept sweating but at least I hope it wont happen to your family as well.
Called and asked to be put through a corporate which there isn’t one. Asked to be put through the manager as I wanted to find out if having their employees assaulted and giving free rooms out to the attacker was a normal thing before I booked. She hung up on me. And now refuses to answer my calls
I love how the staff was very attentive and respectful I love the way that answer each of my concerns in a timely mannerDisliked · I didn’t like the fact that I had a little micky mouse problem it bother me that the little critter keep showing it self which made it very uncomfortable.
I had a big rat in my room I asked to be switch or giving some type on reimbursement they refused and never sent anyone to come check for the mouse when I told them about it they ignored it and pretty much told me there is nothing they could do I will NEVER stay here again!!!!
Terrible experience the worst manager ever!! My room was supposed to be ready by 3 wasnt ready till 5:30 and when I spoke to the manager he said well I can cancel your reservation making it seem as though he would refund my money as a remedy but he meant to cancel my reservation and I would be without a place to stay!! He had a horrible attitude and I will never stay at this hote again!!

2022-05-12The location is great. Close enough to Times Square but far enough to be quieter. Close to Grand Central. If you’re a diner aficionado the Red Flame diner is but a hop skip and jump away. And you’re close to Butter and Kellari - two great restaurants. The room was clean albeit dated and a bit worn. It’s aged better than other similarly aged places I’ve stayed (Hampton Inn for example). The shower was great and the tub deep - possibly an issue for older folk. It’s a solid 3.5

2022-02-01So far its a very pleasant stay. Front desk so friendly and the in room bar is fantastic. Since Im a VIP member I received a free bottle of champagne or wine! I wish the restaurant was open but its still the pandemic and the times that we are in. There are plenty of restaurants that are still open in the area. Not far from Time Square. Samantha and I are off to the Chinese New Years Eve parade tomorrow.

2022-06-28Positive: Price was decent and the location was solid Negative: Yes. This was NOT a 4 star hotel. Room was old and parts were pretty dirty especially the carpet which was massively stained. No lobby, my key cards stopped working at least 4 different times during my stay. The staff were great and helpful though.

2022-02-09I stayed there with my wife and daughter for a few days and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is not new, not fancy, with smaller rooms but the service was excellent and the location is very convenient. Room service warmed milk for our toddler a few times and doorman helps with the luggage.

2022-02-06We booked a room for a romantic birthday evening for my wife, and we were VERY pleased! George at the front desk was cordial, welcoming, and professional. He upgraded us to a queen bed room and a complimentary bottle of champagne to celebrate the birthday evening. The room was clean and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. Free wi-fi and HDTV with multiple basic and premium channels along with a daily newspaper were included. Quiet night, friendly staff to wish us a great day when we left was a warming touch to a cold, rainy February morning. We will DEFINITELY stay here again, highly recommended!

2022-04-17Positive: Location is great. Couple blocks from times square and very close to everything. Employees are very nice and helpful. Negative: Room did not have any fridge or coffee machine. It was advertised as with a fridge. It is a small room with a queen bed and a sofa. It was enough for us 2 adult and 1 kid.

2022-03-17Positive: The staff. They were friendly, helpful, professional and courteous. It was surprisingly quiet based on proximity to Time Square. Negative: It needs some maintenance and upkeep done. I would get rid of the phone in the bathroom and put in some electrical outlets. I would get rid of the mirrored wall as nobody wants to watch themselves use the toilet or shower...at least not in my world.

2022-06-02Awful experience // essentially a scam // avoid at all costs:-No hot water on arrival-Room in awful state. Peeling wallpaper, chipped skirting boards etc-“Petite” room significantly smaller than the photos-Air conditioning unit so noisy it wakes you up all night-Cannot have been refurbished for at least 20 years-Lift cabinets look like it´s come from a scrapyard - Curtains in hallways with rips-The hotel claims 4 stars but it´s there no chance its worth more than 2 stars. The only positive was that they gave us our money back when we left after 1 night when we were meant to be staying for 4 nights. All in favour of cheap and cheerful, but there´s nothing cheery about this misery. Conclusion, pay a bit more and stay elsewhere.

2022-02-10Worst hotel I’ve ever been in. For over $100, it’s disgraceful. It reeks of cigarettes and urine, both in the hallway and the rooms. Cigarette butts in the window, stains on the sheets, floor was gross and stained, pillows smelled, hot water ran out, and they hit you with a hidden fee and take it out of the security deposit. The walls are actually falling apart. The upkeep on this place has been abysmal. Honestly it’s filthy, really gross feeling. I felt the need to shower after sleeping in the bed. It’s actually the worst hotel I’ve ever had the misfortune of staying in. I would never recommend it to anyone and hope they go out of business so they stop scamming people into staying there. Avoid at all costs

2022-03-19I’m really confused by all of the positive reviews here. I got the room last minute via Hotwire and it had a 4 star rating. Nothing about this place was 4 stars. To start, when I arrived, the front desk attendant was outside, possibly taking a quick break. As he entered the hotel, he didn’t even bother to hold the door open for me.When I got to my room, it was in pretty rough shape. It literally was falling apart at the seam. The wallpaper was peeling, the paint was chipped, the ceiling was cracked, the headboard was just gross. The only room that was decent was the bathroom, but of course there was someone’s hair in toilet.Just spend the money to stay at a more reputable establishment with real reviews.
