Ive been seeing Dr Ding at City Derm for the past 3 years, and had my first biopsy then. She was very attentive and careful while doing whole body cancer screening, her bed side manner was excellent and she made me feel comfortable. Dr Ding happily answered all my question regarding my skin care routine and UV protection.The office is clean and takes all necessary CoVid protection measures. Highly recommend!
I love how supportive the stuffs are, they are very kind and nice to patients. Also Dr.Ding is very nice where she had tell me what I should do to fix my acne. She is very helpful, and her opinions are nice too!
Dr.Ding is a really nice person and is really understanding. She will also do whatever she can to make sure you skin will heal. I would recommend people to come here to check up their skin from children to adults

Reasons for my 5 stars ...I could have easily given 10. This was my first visit with Dr. Ding. My kids (daughter & son-,in-,law) are both patients & recommended her to me. I was frustrated with the six month wait to see a Derm at the hospital where I normally receive healthcare. Traveling from Harlem to Chinatown was truly worth the hustle (whether by car or train). I was greeted cheerfully & given paperwork ( a one-pager) with straight forward non-invasive questions. ID & insurance was requested & told payment to collected after the visit. Loved it already!! Literally no wait after that. Forgive me if I got the name wrong, but Joy called for me & accompanied me to the exam room...where she dug deeper about my reason for the visit. She took notes & snapped a few pics. She was a pleasant & patient listener.Dr. Ding came in right behind her very cheerful & with amazing eye-contact!! Very important to me. Also a patient listener. Her & Joy worked together. An important distinction...Dings focus was on me & my examiination as she determined & explained my skin issues... Joy took copius notes! I felt seen and care for! I felt her verbal instructions were to the point! She even drew me a diagram of where to apply what where (LOL). I truly appreciated this visit. I know this sounds like just a standard doctors visit. No, for me it was not. For me, a woman of color it was healthcare at its finest. Thank you!! ppp.
Dr. Ding was great, she explained everything and was a calming presence. Also I was pleasantly surprised that I was seen on time for my appointment.
The doctor gave me a diagnosis in about 3 minutes. It’s nice and clean in the office. However, she treated me like I was a dirty diseased person. I saw the look in her eyes. I was panicked, but you need to work on your bedside manner.
Went in for an issue with my skin, that I have seen others derm about. She was able to check and let me know right away what is going on. Thank you!. She prescribed me some treatment and i am already seeing improvements

I felt very special when greeted by your staff. Extremely well mannered , courteous and professional. It is hard to come by nowadays. Your assistant who collected data from me is definitely an asset to you as a successful dermatologist. Very knowledgeable she is. Dr. Ding is really great! Ive seen her several times now and can say she is awesome. She takes her time with me during every visit to explain and answer any question. She is kind, down to earth, smart and professional. Her office is clean and tidy and they have a good system of checking in and keeping notes. I highly recommend her.
Always a pleasant experience with Dr. Ding and staff. Her office is clean and her staff are very nice, they take appropriate measures for safety and cleanliness. I have never had an issue calling her office for appointments or general questions. She is very knowledgeable in her area of expertise. I love that she always listens very carefully, her bedside manner is one of the best Ive ever seen from a clinician. She is patient and never rushes or answers you in a condescending manner. She gives great advice and always offers me options before making a final decision. My skin has improved so much in the last 3 months compared to my own efforts in the past year. Very good knowledgeable Dr. I really like her bedside manner she never talks around or down to you just looks you right in the eyes and tells you how it is and her recommendation. Really high energy I felt like she cared about me from the beginning. Her nurse was on point too high knowledge level as well.

Dr. Ding is one of the best doctors Ive been to. Despite the sensitive nature and unfortunate location of my rash, she was very considerate and never once made me feel uncomfortable or vulnerable during the examination. Shes thorough and informative and welcomes questions.The wait time was practically non-existent for me. I checked in, went for a quick bathroom visit, and came out to one of the assistants standing there asking if I was me and that she had been looking for me.TLDR: The entire visit was seamless and painless.
Dr. Ding made a thorough evaluation of my skin and addressed all my concerns. Shes warm, friendly, and made me feel comfortable. Both the doctor and the staff are competent and efficient, which is important to me as a working mom. She also doesnt try to upsell you on anything! The best!
Dr. Ding is the best she understand her patient needs and would make sure that you were satisficed with the procedure thats being done. I got my mole remove from my face on April 2021 and it changed my life forever.
Went to see Dr. Catherine Ding for itchy rashes around my eyes today. I asked that my prescription medication be sent to my pharmacist. I went to pick it up and Dr. Ding prescribed Mometosone Furoate ointment USP, 0.1% and it clearly states avoid contact with eyes. external use only. I specifically told her front desk people 3 times that I have puffy bags under my eyes and I need an ointment that is for ophthalmology use. I do not want this medication to accidently go into my eyes. The guy in the front desk told me that this medication is given for all her patients and can be used around the eyes. I told them again that I am not comfortable using this medication. Then the guy upfront said, the only prescription would be eye drops. I said what?? I am seeing Dr. Ding for skin around my eyes issues not my eyes! Then Dr. Ding calls my pharmacist to see what he told me. What kind of Doctor has time to not only argue with her clients but the pharmacist as well. I would never use her because I do not think that she is competent. I will not go there.
After seeing 5 other dermatologists, I believe Dr. Ding has made the correct diagnosis. Her receptionist was the first to ask me to take a picture of my scalp rash with my cellphone, since diagnosing a scalp rash on a man or woman with hair can be difficult to impossible. As soon as Dr. Ding saw my photo and ask me how the rash first began, she knew I had bacterial folliculitis. She prescribed antibiotic lotion in a bottle with a sponge applicator (not a stupid steroid paste from a tube!) and a shampoo (not a steroid shampoo!). My scalp stopped itching within 1-1/2 days and the inflammation is already almost totally gone!

It was client centered, she asked thoughtful questions regarding my skin, routines and lifestyle. She was very comforting and was very clear with her treatment plan. I had a last minute intro appointment after an immediately preceding GP referral from around the corner. Thorough skin analysis on the spot. Friendly staff. In-depth explanations.I came back for another check up a year later and was reminded that Dr. Ding is a really friendly, wise, and dedicated doctor. Definitely the best dermatologist I’ve visited.

I am so glad I found Dr. Ding. She was kind, patient and empathetic when I went to her with my problems regarding my skin. What I really appreciated that she provided all the information about the treatment she thinks is best for me and made sure I was comfortable with it and that I understood it. She really cares about her patients and is very knowledgeable at what she does. She doesnt rush me either. Her office was very clean and welcoming. Dr. Ding put me at ease regarding a couple of moles and was able to see me earlier than my scheduled appointment, which was very helpful.
I have seen Dr.Ding twice already, the first visit was for an annual wellness check. She made me feel at ease, even when I had some concerns about my skin. She was very informative during the skin screening and advised me of things I should keep an eye out for during the daily routine with my skin. I have dark skin and I do feel normally doctors don’t have the experience to deal with it sometimes but she was very confident and comfortable. The staff is great as well, attentive and personable. Choosing the right doctor for your health is not easy and I’m glad I made this choice. I plan to return only because of this positive experience. Dr. Dings office was easy to schedule with, took good COVID precautions, and was easy to communicate with. Dr. Ding was very thorough in talking to my daughter (age 10) and used helpful explanations. We will definitely return to Dr. Ding next time we need a dermatologist!

I see Dr. Ding regularly for my hair loss. Shes knowledgeable, the office is modern and clean, and both the desk staff and assistants are pleasant. Waits can be long, but that seems to be the norm for all doctor visits. Id recommend her to others.
Dr. Ding is very professional and understanding. I took my mom who is 97 years old to see her and Dr. Ding was very considerate. She provided good suggestions. The only thing was I wasnt very clear with the instructions on the ointments application, I called the office to get clear directions and was uncomfortable with the answer and not sure if she really spoke to Dr. Ding before providing me the answer.

Friendly and efficient staff. It was our first visit and We had an appointment and didn’t wait long at all. Took about 10min to complete paperwork & consent and we saw Dr. Ding within 5min.Facility was clean. Hand sanitizer available.Our visit with Dr. Ding was pleasant and straight forward. She explained everything thoroughly and answered out questions.The only negative was the patient room was warm, but overall excellent experience!
Dr. Ding is a great doctor and has amazing bed side manner, however in my experience she does not explore options when it comes to acne treatment.I saw her for hormonal acne for 2yrs and nothing ever changed in my skin. All throughout I was told “it takes time” and went up and down on medication dosing and cream, which always peeled my skin non stop, but was told to continue. Yes I understand acne treatment takes time but 2yrs and nothing?After not seeing results at all, I consulted with a different dermatologist and was prescribed cream and medication for bacterial acne, and my face was clear within 2 months!!?? And still is after 9months.Meanwhile i was under the impression I had hormonal acne and was never told of any other options for treatment. Consult someone else if your acne treatment is not working after 6-9 months.

I have been known Dr. Ding for 3 years and she has never failed me. Prior to COVID-19 visiting her office was simple and efficient. The wait time was about 10-15 minutes; my first online visit was great also - I submitted my photos before the visit and during the online visit we covered everything that I wanted and as always Dr. Ding was listening to me and my concerns.I would definitely recommend her. I have been visiting other dermatologists and so far I am 100% happy with her professionalism, work ethics, efficiency, and transparency.

I went to see Dr. Ding to get my keloid scars treated. She was very friendly and professional and took the time to explain what keloids are and why ones on certain parts of the body tend to get bigger than on others, which I thought was fascinating and informative. My only gripe was that, although I showed up on time for my appointment, I had to wait 45 minutes until I was called in. I didnt mind too much since I had ample time that day, but in the future Im going to have to make sure I block out extra time for my appointments.

Doctor was very nice. I was quite nervous, but she listened to every concern and addressed each with possible solutions. My visit was very quick, though I have seen the waiting room full with 5-6 other people. Front desk was polite, efficient and helpful. If I have any serious issues reoccur in the future, I would not hesitate to see the doctor again.

I have been seeing Dr. Ding for 4 years for annual skin check ups. She is SO thorough, patient, knowledgeable, understanding and generous with her time. The practice is so well run. Always on time. The facility is modern, and spotless. All of the supportive staff are courteous, warm, and very helpful. I had a good experience at city Derm. I had an appointment at 2pm. I arrived there around 1:35pm. I had to fill out some documents. Right after that, they checked my temperature. Medical scribe took me to the the physical room and asked me questions about my medical history and took some pics of my acne. Doctor Ding was very thorough. She took her time to explain all my concerns. She made sure I understood what she was explaining. Ohhh god did I mention everyone at that clinic had PERFECT skin. 😍😍
Very on target w the 3 issues i have at hand presently. Gave me a clear understanding and resolution to them. One was resolved during the visit immediately. Nice office and great professional assistant personnel. The intake is not overwhelming.

My problem was mostly psychological and more so about willpower than my actual skin, and instead of brushing it off and saying there’s nothing i can do, she sat down and talked with me, and explained exactly how to handle it. Mine was a first visit to have several issues addressed. The office staff were very helpful and courteous. I was called in to the doctors office before the actual appointment time. The assistant took my medical history, information on allergies, current concerns, etc.. Dr Ding then examined me. She listened to all my concerns and walked me through them one by one explaining causes & treatments. A prescription was sent to my pharmacy at the end of my visit.Overall I was very impressed with the doctors professionalism, and the staffs efficiency.

The space is very clean and the reception is very quick and also helpful. The doctor herself is super informative and actually taught me a couple of things regarding my colored skin. Ive been coming here for 9 months , I may get maybe 1 pimple a month and my hyperpigmentation is almost completely gone. Definitely recommend.

I’ve been to Catherine 3 times now and I will say she’s an excellent dermatologist and has helped me improve my skin infection. She is super sweet and great bedside manners. She was very determined to get my skin back to normal. I took away one star because all my visits have been a very long wait. I wait to go in, then I’m also waiting in a room for 15-20mins for Dr. Ding. I personally have a bit of claustrophobia so it’s uncomfortable. I just wish the appointment timing were more efficient. Another bad thing that happened was they forgot to send my prescription yesterday to the pharmacy so I was waiting at the pharmacy for half hour, they said they had called the office already and someone was going to send it through. Then I went back to see why it didn’t send through yet but they closed so looks like someone forgot? These are my only complaints.
Very pleased with this visit. Dr.Ding took her time and carefully listened to my concerns and offered a multitude of solutions for me. Easy in and out appointment. Will be back.

Dr Ding is very pretty & extremely hospitable with great bedside manner. She is really good at her job & takes pride in her profession. Sometimes she makes jokes if you’re lucky
My favorite dermatologist by far. Been through a number of derms but Dr.Ding provided the most efficient service. Wait times are short, everything is explained clearly and all prescriptions have worked wonders from the beginning. I commute between boroughs to get here because the service is worth it.

I swear by Dr Ding and her staff. The office is clean, staff professional and knowledgeable and thorough. Ive been to tons of dermatologists for my acne and Hailey Hailey (genetic skin disorder).Dr Ding never made me feel like an animal in a zoo.She always remained optimistic about each medicine she prescribed and the subsequent treatment. She always comforted me despite me feeling overwhelmed with my skin condition. You can not put a price tag on a wonderful doctor. I thank God for Dr Ding and recommend her to all!!!

Dr. Catherine Ding is absolutely wonderful! If you need a dermatologist for any skin issue, whether it be medical or cosmetic, she is the one you want to see. Compassionate, caring, warm, kind, perceptive, beautiful, professional, knowledgable, intelligent, intuitive, I could go on. With a great sense of humor as well! I have been going to her for several years now, and from the very first visit she and her warm and friendly staff immediately made me feel welcome, comfortable and at home. Her office is super clean, beautiful, and spacious with a zen like spa atmosphere. Skin issues are often an embarrassingly personal subject, but I never felt self-conscious or judged, Dr. Ding literally always makes me feel comfortable in my own skin.😊 I have a couple of chronic skin conditions that Ive had for most of my life so I have to see her on a regular basis, and it is always like seeing an old friend. And my skin conditions are finally under control! Better than theyve ever been or I ever thought they could be. At one of my recent visits I decided to do some Dysport (like Botox), because every girl could use a little help with what diet and exercise cant fix. Dr. Ding is an absolute master artist with a needle! She was able to instantly assess exactly how much I needed and her placement was perfect, my eyebrows are finally even (I had one that was always higher then the other), and my frown lines are completely gone. And there were absolutely no negative side effects at all, no drooping eyelids as can sometimes happen if the person administering the injections does not have a full understanding of facial muscles and anatomy, as well as the hands on experience to know exactly how much to inject so it does not look overdone or cause problems. I look completely natural, just younger and better rested. This is the difference between a skilled dermatologist and someone without complete medical training or from another specialty trying to make money off injectables. And since I now look less angry I actually feel happier and more serene, like I just did a couple of hours of yoga and meditation! Ahhh...Bliss. Seriously, she is the most amazing doctor, I love her. You will too!

The lobby and office is clean, modern and nice. The receptionists are friendly as well. Dr. Ding was the first dermatologist I’ve visited and it has been over a year with consultation and advices from her. I suffered from cystic acne and my skin is very acne prone. I was put on tretinoin and we both saw drastic improvement regarding acne, blemishes and skin texture irregularities. For me, acne requires patience and a very long time to see positive changes. Also I honestly would recommend her.

I saw Dr. Ding for a spot on my back that wouldnt heal. I was thrilled she could take me the next day and accepted my insurance. The office is very nice, its new and clean. The staff is very friendly and I waited no more than ten minutes after arriving for my appointment. Dr. Dings nurse assistant greeted me and asked all the questions regarding my spot. Dr. Ding arrived within a few minutes and was very sweet and super knowledgeable. She explained in detail what was going on and prescribed a creme that stopped the itching. She answered all of my questions including ones non-related to my problem. Dr.Ding spent close to 45 minutes with me, I didnt feel rushed and had a great experience. I definitely plan to continue to use Dr. Ding in the future and highly recommend her. I was beyond pleased!

Dr. Ding is approachable and knowledge. She takes the time to diagnose your condition and outline the treatment plan. I did not feel rushed or embarrassed to ask my many skin questions. Not only did she answer all the questions, but she also ended the visit by asking if I had any other skin concerns (which I did). She quickly created a treatment plan for them, and I am excited to start both treatment plans this week.

In for a regular cancer screening, and as always she went above and beyond. SO above and beyond, that she advised me to have someone look at my belly button, and I have an umbilical hernia I knew NOTHING about. So thankful for her service always!
The few times that I went to see the doctor, I got to see her about 20 minutes in total. It felt very rushed. I did get help with what I needed, but I did not feel welcome here. I dont think she communicated that well on my needs.There also isnt much privacy here, as both the nurse and doctor will be watching you if theres a need to undress. Was slightly uncomfortable.

I was struggling with adult cystic acne. I tried every over the counter product available. Nothing was working for me. I decided to finally go to a dermatologist. Dr. Ding understood my concern and came up with a plan of action. She didn’t just tell me what I wanted to hear, that in few days or weeks it my skin would be clear. She told me it will take a minimum of 3 months. She made sure I understood how to apply my retinol. She also prepared me with the fact it may get worse before it gets better. My cystic acne has started clearing up and my dark spots fading. Dr. Ding is truly a blessing. I definitely recommend anyone who has a problem with acne to visit her.

This was my second time seeing Dr. Ding. About 2 years ago she removed a huge lipoma from my forehead. I’d put it off for years because I didn’t realize how easy the procedure would be. And the scar is barely noticeable now! I went back for mole removal this week. I appreciate that she’s upfront and honest about expectations and possible side effects. I was very pleased with City Derm NYC. I found them on ZocDoc and booked my appointment based on reviews from that site. The location was well lit, elegant, clean and pleasant to be in. I came in for a consultation for acne and eczema. Everyone I dealt with from beginning to end was friendly yet professional. Dr. Ding has a lovely bedside manner and I wasnt embarrassed to show her how awfully blotchy my skin was. FYI they offer cosmetic services as well to maintain your J-Lo glow, lol. Doctor Ding treated me for a thermal burn on my leg. She recognized that my weeping wound was due to an allergic reaction to overuse of OTC Neosporin and prescribed another antibiotic along with a rash cream. The weeping wound cleared up after I stopped applying Neosporin.The staff and doctor Ding are very friendly and personable. There is a lack of good dermatologist in downtown, Manhattan, so Im happy that doctor Ding chose to open her practice in the area.Also, the practice provides a lot of free skin care samplers too, which is an added bonus.

I had a red rash on neck and my PCP said it was eczema, so I was prescribed a steroid cream to treat it. At first the rash went away but then it came back and started spreading rapidly. Thats when i decided to search up dermatologist in chinatown via zocdoc.It was my first time going to dermatologist. I went in without an appointment and was seen very quickly. The office was clean and bright. Dr. Ding was very professional, knowledgeable, and well mannered. She examined my condition with a special flashlight and diagnose it was Tinea versicolor. I had a few more questions which Dr. Ding answered in detailed. My rash is now gone and hasnt return. I am very satisfy with my visit to Dr. Ding.

2022-07-15Never had delayed waits; over the last 4 years they honor each appointment time promptly. More importantly: Dr Ding has a keen eye for detail and really cares about each patient. I have seen several dermatologists in my life and she is the best I have found!!! Its rare I recommend a doctor at all. She has provided such a variety of treatments and care for my skin, ranging from finding my cancer and recommending a great surgeon, to removing minor issues herself, regularly photographing and checking my skin, to aesthetic improvements I want. A holistic doctor who is a lovely person. Staff is GREAT too!!!

2022-08-06This was my first visit and so far it was a pleasant experience. The staff at the front desk were professional and welcoming. The wait time was short from the time I walked in until the time I was called in to see the doctor. I was there no more than 30 minutes. Dr. Ding was professional and friendly from the moment she walked in the room. She was clear and knowledgeable with her personalized recommendation for me. I look forward to seeing her again.

2021-09-26Dr Ding was sweet and great and the office was accommodating to squeeze me in when I needed to be seen ASAP. However, the 4 stars is because the patient table I laid on was torn apart which definitely rubbed me the wrong way..... the top layer was peeling off (see pic) so that was a little concerning but the service itself was great.
