I have been visiting this marvelous store for as long as I can remember! They recently in the last year or so moved to Highline -26th Street bet 10th & 11th Avenues. Sweet place & what I really like is it has given me more reason to stroll on foot to this neighborhood ! The Shops & Highland Park & the walk is really fun! New & interesting places popping up all over this fantastic neighborhood! Dont miss it! God Bless-
From the beautiful sounds of opera arias, classical and jazz music - to the interesting interior (once a bank) and wonderful customer service - this is hands down the best thrift store in NYC. For more than 40 years, this impressive shop has supported NYC opera. While they rely on donations, the store is lovingly curated with a classy and exquisite array of clothing, furniture, artwork, books and a much smaller selection of housewares and jewelry. Furniture was 50% and let me tell you - I saw some gorgeous steals I would have gladly schlepped to my daughters apartment! They dont deliver and you need to arrange this yourself - if you live in the neighborhood, what a deal.We had a terrific chat with Marlene - a sweetheart who was one of the nicest and most personable individuals Ive ever met at a thrift shop! She mentioned the monthly special events. Heres a shout out to you, Marlene! This lovely store makes me wish I lived in NYC!
Ive got a suuuper nice black skirt from here. The shop displays really cool unique pieces: clothing, shoes, jewellery and even furniture! The staff is very friendly, which makes the shopping experience so much better. Thank you! Oh, and part of the income goes back to the NY Opera ;)
Lovely aesthetics in the store but pricey and very limited clothing selections. If you’re happy paying a lot of money for used items, this is a good store for that. If you’re just doing window shopping though, this would be a fun place to look around.Instagram: @thenomadicfoodie
Two level thrift store for those with money. The items they have tend to be pretty expensive, however sometimes this is because they have something high end & its a bit understandable for the high number on the price tag. The cashiers tend to be young folks who are pretty nice. From large paintings that can take up a whole wall to boots, & old books to couches, it can make for a nice pop in and browse as opera or jazz plays on the store speakers.
A great curated selection of items. The store is well let, always clean and has plenty to sort through both upstairs and downstairs. The real treat is Marlene though and her ability to welcome you into the store. I highly recommend City Opera in Chelsea, and dont forget to say Hi to Marlene. Thank You for all your help!

2022-01-27What a gorgeous store for a fantastic cause! A beautiful mix of contemporary & vintage clothing and home furnishings. Theres also a smattering of books. Everything is top quality. A wide variety of clothes - mainly womens fashions, but a decent assortment of mens as well.Prices are reasonable - they are akin to a good consignment boutique - so, not cheap but the money is going to a good cause.

2022-06-17I found this lovely thrift store tucked right beneath a section of the High-Line walking trail. To my surprise I saw that they carry a beautiful rotating collection of second hand items, and even one of a kind pieces. This will definitely become a new stop on my way into the city. Thank you for being in business.

2022-06-04One of the best thrift stores in NYC, because of its gorgeous selection! Some items are high-end, so you might pay a little more -- but, not necessarily. Its random. Lovely Furniture, too! Definitely visit!
