City Rooms NYC Times Square in New York
City Rooms is located on the best place in New York. The people who work @CR are lovely and very helpfull. We had room 207 and you can hear the music from the store under the hotel. That is a little annoying but the music stops at midnight. Maybe a few more things to stall your make-up, toothbrush etc, and it’s get a little wet in the bathroom after showering, because the shower curtain does not fall to the ground. But the bed is perfect , so I def recommend it!!
This is an EXCELLENT place to stay. I’ve stayed in a big Times Square hotel and it wasn’t as fun and great as this little hotel. It’s minimal but chic. It’s small but VERY CLEAN. It was just my husband and me and it was the perfect size. The shower had great water pressure, felt very good after a long day of touring the city and the bed is very comfy. This City Rooms Times Square location is a great location. There is a great deli across the street that has good pizza and excellent desserts. The line was never too long so we were able to grab a slice and take it back and eat it in bed before it even had a chance to get cold! There is a mini fridge, a safe, a hairdryer and under the bed storage. There is no iron so you’ll need to bring one. If you are sensitive to sounds while sleeping use the earplugs they provide. I use earplugs at home because I’m a light sleeper so I already had some! No elevator but the guys brought our luggage up for us. We stayed in room 306. We did not have a view of the street. I am not sure which ones do you have a room of the screen. They are very good at replying to email so you could probably ask if you wanted to. Honestly I had no energy to look out of the window after three fun filled packed days so it didn’t matter to me. The staff was amazing, very kind, very helpful. There is a lobby on the basement floor with free coffee and tea, free water chairs and comfortable seating. I want to stay at the one in Chelsea next!!! This was SO much better than staying in a big hotel. It felt like a “home”.
Love this place customer service was amazing and has a very trendy feeling. The location was amazing for the price. I stayed there the month before covid shut everything down. Sadly I can’t find anything on this place since things are opening back up I’m not sure if they survived covid but if they come back I will be staying there again
Good value, but a few important things to note:1) rooms are TINY. No real space to open your luggage2) in Fall they change the ac units to be heat only. Very unfortunate, as my room was extremely hot when I walked into it. They do provide a tower fan upon request.3) door separating room from bathroom is a thing piece of plastic. Mine had buckled a bit so when you close the door you can still see into the bathroom, toilet in particular.4) shower is in bathroom with no real separation aside from a small piece of plastic. Entire floor all the way to toilet gets wet.5) no elevator and stairs are steep. 4th floor was hard to get up to. Thankfully, they can bring your luggage up and down for you
The place was amazing. We booked here last minute for a short (2 night) stay in NYC. A short walk (2min) off Times Square, this small hotel offers everything you need when visiting NYC. Staff is super helpful!Yes, there is no lift and the rooms are small, but if you dont plan on spending any time other than sleeping in the room, that isnt an issue. Additionlly there is a large community room in the basement, in case you do need a space to work etc.
Room was great - clean and relatively comfortable. A few big drawbacks - this hotel has no elevator. This was not sufficiently made clear to me when I booked and as someone with difficulty with a lower limb, I did not really appreciate the surprise fifth-floor walk-up accomodations. Also, the room was a thousand degrees. It was so hot and extremely uncomfortable. Finally I booked a queen room but got a room with a double bed. Which wouldve been alright if I was staying with my husband as planned. Instead sharing a double with one of my friends was less than idea, especially given that the bed was up against a wall on one side and I had to cozy up to the wall to sleep and slide off the end if I had to get up. The latter resulted in me smashing my head into a corner of the TV in the wee hours of the morning. Not the best way to wake up for sure. But if I could be assured of a room on the second floor I would stay again.
Management did not have the courtesy to update any guests that they are still under construction; dirt and debris everywhere. Front desk did not mention anything about being under construction and was being rude on the radio calling for staff to help with our luggage. She kept rolling her eyes and yelling into the radio as no one answered. We offered to just carry our luggage as it was better than waiting 10 minute listening to her yell unprofessionally in the radio. She refused and yelled at the staff when he came:“Do you know how to even use one of these?!”1st red flag2-They were laying carpet with glue and a terrible epoxy smell throughout the building. The smell was so bad in our room that we need to leave our hotel room we opened the window to air out. As we were going down the stairs (no elevator) we had to wait 30minutes for the workers to lay the foul toxic glue on the ground, workers had respirators and we had nothing. Waited for them to finish carpet on the stairs for us to leave the hotel3-I left an item behind in the locked security box, realizing when I was already on the plane. I emailed staff and they confirmed they found my item and for me to arrange for someone to pick it up. I stated I was from LA and asked if possible to ship to me. They said no, so I arranged for a friend to pick up the item for me, then they say they make a mistake and they dont have my item. Seems very dishonest to me when I have several email exchanges with them that confirms that have my item.
Pros:-The staff is really polite and helpful.-Cheapest Hotel in Time Square that I could find with no hidden resort/other fees.-The hotel is cute, great decor perfect for Instagram pictures .-The staff helps you carry your bags upstairs.-Earbuds are provided because it gets loud.-Basement Lounge area you can hang out in, there is free coffee and tea, lots of sitting areas and a cute bathroom.-Free shampoo and body wash in rooms that smells nice.-Cable TV with music channels as well.-Walking distance to Time Square and Broadway theaters.Cons:-Very Very hot temperature wise (I visited in March) I dont think the remote for the heating system did anything. We opened a window in the room and it was okay but it was awful waking up 5 flights of stairs with heat blasting on you.-No elevator, which would be fine on floor 2 or 3 but on floor five is was just a dreadful walk to take up after a day of walking but hey a good way to work off food you may have ate. (To be fair almost everywhere in New York makes you walk up stairs so youre gonna get some fit legs)-The beds were so/so there were no top sheets, just fitted and a comforter, didnt feel very nice on the skin to me but my boyfriend didnt care though. Was so warm didnt want to sleep with the comforter would have been nice to cover up with a thin top sheet.-You will hear everything that happens in the hall walls are very thin.Overall it has its flaws but dont we all, would still recommend because its a good price and good location and the staff was very nice.
Dear City Rooms - thank you. Your rooms are convenient, clean, hip and love the location. I had a wonderful time, will come there again. This is all you need. We where there for out 30 anniversary and I cant wait to come again. Definitely a great place to stay!!! Louie and Denise
Avoid this place. Booked a trip for my wife and I for our Anniversary before lockdown. The world shut down, including broadway which was the purpose of our trip. I called to cancel and request a refund or a reschedule and was told no. My wife was pregnant and we weren’t going to risk traveling to NYC at the height of the pandemic. Was told to email after I asked to speak with a manager. Emailed multiple times no response. Tried calling back and just receive an answering machine. Still have not received any response from anyone to resolve my issue. Will never book here again and will make sure to tell anyone I know to avoid this place.
If I could leave ZERO stars, I would. The price is good but the customer service, rooms, climate control & over all experience is insanely terrible. The receptionist has the attitude of a bratty 15 year old & lied right to me when I asked to speak with someone other than her. Good luck to whoever stays there but I recommend the Hilton down the street that has amazing customer service & made our first NY experience the best!
Clean and comfortable and centrally located with friendly staff. However the hotel was far from finished and at no point ahead of our arrival were we ever informed about this. Work was still taking place with ladders, dust sheets and paint cans much in evidence. On Sunday evening we were driven from our room by the sound of drilling and hammering in the corridor outside! After an exhausting day we had to go out again because the noise was so bad. No mention of the hotels unfinished state was mentioned on website. There was no lift yet meaning a drag up and down four flights of steep stairs. At one point I left my camera in the room and asked the front desk to ring my partner who was still in the room so he could bring it down with him - they said that their phone system wasnt working.Room cleaning was wildly erratic in timing and came at 5pm on the Sunday! I question the need for clean towels EVERY day? There really is no need for this and its so bad for the environment.I SWEAR that something went missing from the room during the stay. OK, it was only a postcard, but it was never found. This happened the day after I managed to upset the room cleaner by leaving a pile of 1c pieces in the For the maid envelope. Our room was so hot we slept with the window wide open every night - in mid November! A couple of the staff had no local knowledge of the area at all. Once this place is actually finished it will be a comfy and convenient base from which to explore the city, but at time of writing its a bit like staying on a building site. When you leave a review, management pick and choose which points they are going to address, staying completely silent on others. And most of them are just cut and paste of the same responses.
We had an amazing time staying here! It was near all the Broadway theaters, which was what we were looking forward to, and the staff was so nice and attentive. We can’t wait to visit again! If you’re looking for an inexpensive place to stay in Midtown, this is the place to go!
This place has an extremely convenient location. The mini queen room is really tiny, essentially just a bed, bathroom, and mini fridge, but what more do you need when starting in New York? Heads up, there is no elevator, so the higher up you stay the more youll be feeling it in your legs!
If I could give a “0” star review I would. I HAVENT EVEN MADE IT TO NEW YORK FROM TEXAS AND HAD THE WORST SERVICE FROM A “FAMILY” owned business. All they like to do is argue with you about canceling a reservation. Go to the Hilton down the street for the SAME PRICE and we get Breakfast plus no one makes you feel u welcomed!!!!
Canceled our reservation one day before our arrival. Almost ruined my vacations and didnt help at all in finding another accommodation.I had to get in touch after receiving a last minute message. They proposed hotels nearby that costed more than double the price i was supposed to pay and didnt even offer to help with my relocation costs.
Great staff tho one guy might be the owner was kind of rude getting into others ppls business.... Aaand we booked for 5 nights and the firsr night we sayed the we didnt wanted the last 3 (48 hours on advance) and they didnt let us cancel eveb qhen the police is 48 hours. No elevator, crazy tall building
We stayed at City Room in May 2019 by booking through booking. The environment is very nice and nice. Only flaw the lack of a lift (booking was not reported) and the bathroom really too tailor-made, especially for the shower. Great wifi, proximity to time square and the best attractions. Perfect if you have to leave early in the morning for organized tours because the meeting point is right below this hotel! Earplugs in the room, but we didnt need it !!!
Hotel in a very central location, run by friendly and helpful young people. The room in which we stayed is small but the space is well organized and has been exploited to the full. Excellent from a cleaning point of view. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate available for guests (free) in the common room.
Great location, excellent value for money. Clean. Hot (visited in February). Very nice room, albeit without a wardrobe. Attention to detail. Friendly and professional staff. Quick check-in with delivery of luggage to the room. Check out with baggage claim in the room and possibility to deposit and collect the same day.Fast WiFi. TV, fridge, telephone, hairdryer and in-room safe. I advise.
Great stay!First of all, the location is perfect. Less than 5 minutes & you are in Time Square, a subway or Starbucks. A lot of Brodway theaters are also on this street.Next to is a pharmacy (24/7) where you can buy medicines and food / drinks. The room is small, but offers everything you need. A comfortable large bed, a shower, a dressing room, a TV & a safe. But I think that young people like it more than older people now (just a guess). The staff is ultra friendly and helpful. Every greeting in the morning put you in a good mood. :) Thanks for that!Last but not least, the service. Every morning you can make coffee and take water at any time. There is no elevator, so if you come with your suitcase, the staff will carry it up.I would like to add my negative criticism, but apart from the fact that the milk was empty early in the morning for coffee, I cant find any points to criticize.Should I go to NYC again, I will book at City Rooms again!
The location is the best you can get, in the middle of the theater area, many places nearby where to eat, public transport crossing the sidewalk, two blocks from Times Square. Very friendly staff and there are even those who speak Spanish. They have a safe in your room and a mini refrigerator. The bed is very comfortable as are the pillows.
The first thing is that the hotel is really good! Its a 5 minute walk to Time Square. The hotel does not offer food but the area is full of small restaurants so that it is not penalizing;) It has against a corner Salon with hot drinks at will;) The staff is very nice and available 24h / 24h.
Great value for money and very friendly staff! The hotel is a charm, small rooms but the space is very well planned and with modern furniture. The only problem is that there is no elevator, but the staff are very helpful and helped us with our bags. Will certainly stay there again, on other occasions

New York ... Energetic and relaxed at the same time. Broadway, Time Square, beautiful streets, skyscrapers, cathedrals, hotels, restaurants with their own history, people ... people .. attractive, charming, smiling, etc. Desire to see New - York still doesn’t leave me again.

2022-06-14The reviews from a few years ago (before the pandamic) were very positive. Until a few months/weeks/days ago. It says that the hotel is closed and it has become an apartment.City Rooms NYC Times Square and Be Home Hotel are the same and both closed. They are offered on booking.com through SoBeNY, you can rent from their apartments but this is a big scam. See the Google reviews of SoBe 12th and Ocean Suites - Miami. I asked for a refund but they only offer a discount coupon.Do good research before you do business with SoBeNY.UPDATE: Booking.com helped me with getting the money back. Its on my account now

2019-10-16City Rooms is a great option for a place to stay right in the Theater District. I had a basic queen room. Not a big room but for one person, it was great. Very clean, comfy bed. There was even a refrigerator and safe in the room. Staff on desk 24 hours - all very pleasant. There wasnt much noise but even so, they had earplugs in the room - I didnt bother and Im a light sleeper. Coffee, tea & hot chocolate available in the common room. No elevator though so I got in some exercise going to 5th (top) floor but I didnt mind. I highly recommend this hotel.

2020-10-13Rooms are small but beds are very big and supercomfortable. There is some noise, so they leave earplugs. Even I am a light sleeper I did not need it. I could not sleep better. In basement there is a room with hot coffe, (delicious, by the way), some teas, water and chocolate.Location is very convenient.Room service did a great job.Staff is very friendly. We had a problem with our airport transfer and he helped us to solve it.I highly recommend it.

2019-12-22This experience was definitely not near as good as my 1st. It seems they have renovated rooms and made them smaller (we reserved the same room type both times and this time the room was a lot smaller) and the cleanliness has gone way down. We found hairs on our sheets each night, make up stains on the cover and even a blood stain on the fitted sheet. Not at all impressed with the progress the hotel has made since our last 1.5 years ago. The only saving grace is the new lounge they added, location, and the friendly staff.

2020-07-07Booked a room here back in April. Show up for our reservation in June and doors were locked, no one there. Called the hotel, answering machine says send us an email. Obviously no one was monitoring their emails. Stood around in the rain for an hour before giving up and booking somewhere else. Luckily the booking site refunded us and apologized but to this day we received no communication, no apology, and no explanation. I understand things are happening that are out of our control but at the very least you have to tell people that you are closing down. It’s simply unacceptable to treat guests like that.

2019-07-31It was a pleasant stay, excellent location, reasonable price, nice staffs, free tea and coffee in the basement. Tho I didnt know that there was no elevator, luckily I was only staying in the second floor. LOL It wasnt as clean as people said as I noticed my bed was made but the floor wasnt vacuumed nor cleaned. But it was still a nice stay. Would recommend!

2020-02-20Location was great. The rooms are small but functional. I had to study during my visit to NYC and the wifi was great. My only complaint was that that a/c was cut off and it was super hot on the top floor. I feel like they need to reconsider at least leaving the top floor with a/c.

2019-11-25Excellent location to midtown Manhattan, especially when we came out of theatres and wanted to be home quickly. Close proximity, helpful staff, clean space. Huge bed in the 403 New Yorker room. And free hot drinks which helped us wind down after hours of touring around each day

2019-10-19Extremely clean! OCD-person approved. Tiny but well thought-out layout. Everything is placed efficiently and effectively. Very friendly staff, who will also help you carry luggage to your room upon request.
