I took a rapid COVID test. I arrived 45 minutes before they opened and there was already a line about 12 people deep. I wound up getting in maybe an hour later and the process was very fast and as promised I received an email 30 minutes later. Several doctors came to speak with me to make sure I was making informed decisions. I felt taken care of and the process was not stressful. I appreciated the level of calm that everyone had. The facility was clean and everyone practiced social distancing.
Due to a colleague being tested positive with Covid - and I was planning a short stay out of town (but not out of state) -- I went to this facility to get tested. Based on the many reports of these facilities being slammed because of the holiday, I fully expected to wait hours to get tested and resigned myself to that reality. The entire process took about an hour on Thanksgiving Eve, which I was happy for. During my wait, and my time in the facility every single person, was kind, in good humor and helpful. In addition the facility itself is very clean and beautiful. I am very impressed and, should I be in need of their services again, will happily return, as well as highly recommending them to friends and colleagues.
It was empty. No lines outside. No people inside. 4 employees at the front desk…. And they turn me away saying “we are not taking anymore patients today”.What’s the point of an urgent care if you refuse to take patients who urgently need care?!!!!!!Clearly the staff does not care to do their jobs.
June 20, 2021 on 345 W 42nd St was a complete waste of my time! Too many young untrained ladies at the front desk that can’t read and know what they are doing. I told the girl with the braided blue hair and long neon green nails. I need everything done on this page except a fit test. It was clearly marked drug test on the paper. Apparently, you have to take the drug test as soon as enter in the building you cannot go to the back room and then take your drug test. Once I questioned the PA about my drug test, oh we can’t do it you didn’t tell them at the front desk. I didn’t think I had to have it stapled on my chest so it can be read I need a drug test done. No, that person messed up at the front desk and now I have to come back because of her screw up. Now getting to the PA who couldn’t sign my physician statement. She wasted my time too. We prefer for you to go to your primary care doctor. Well I don’t have one. I’m 18 hours away from home and I’m needing clearance for my next job. Instead of telling me there are other locations that can sign she didn’t. She just left it there. Luckily, there is another CityMD that will sign my form due and I made mention to that the PA stated oh yes there are locations that can sign I just can’t. I’m glad I have some common sense. Because they all didn’t!!
My brother went this morning to be tested for COVID-19. We have pre exiting conditions in our family including diabetes, cancer, and heart disease. He was treated horribly by the nurse and Dr, who decided they wouldn’t do a COVID-19 antibody test because they said “ he didn’t need it.” He has been tested previously at this center, and had a positive experience. The nurse wanted him to pull down his mask ahead of doing a nasal swab test, when normally they ask you to pull it down for a few seconds before the test. The nurse and doctor were condescending and arrogant, and had zero compassion. Anyone has the right to be tested for COVID-19, and have the nasal swab and antibody test. We come from a family of doctors, including oncologists and radiologists, and nobody in our family would ever treat a patient they way CITY MD treated my brother. The doctor and nurse shouldn’t be practicing medicine or treating patients. I guess you all forget that NYC was COVID-19 ground zero, and the best way to stop it is through testing of people with and without symptoms. Your behavior today was disgusting, disgraceful, shameful, and awful. I hope you don’t treat your family the way you treated my brother. Your behavior was vile and disgusting! My brother called me to cry after he left your office. Don’t advertise that anyone can get a COVID-19 test when clearly you don’t care. People come to your office because they need to be tested weekly in many cases to show to their places of employment. You have no right to question why someone is asking for a test. You are a COVID-19 testing facility. It is not your job to interrogate people because they ask for a COVID test. The first nurse was beyond rude and disrespectful, and then your physician decided to denigrate my brother some more. You shouldn’t be open as an urgent care because clearly you have no idea how to treat patients. You are an urgent care, and it’s your job to treat patients with dignity, kindness, compassion, and respect. You owe my brother an apology.
This place is a 10! Went in unannounced with a thumb dangling and needing to be stitched up ASAP. Crack staff up front walking in, and it only got better when I met the Doctor & Assistant in the back. They insisted on a follow up visit 3 days later - no charge. Brand new facility, super organized and friendly bedside manner. What’s not to like? Glad they’re in the neighborhood.
Never got results back from my PCR test. Over 7 days now. I even went back to correct my email address in person to correct my email as they printed it wrong. But as of today never still received it. Not even as a spam. Also checking in as a walk-in was a nightmare. They make you wait for a text within an hour. So you have to go outside and wait. Then you get a text you have 30 minutes to show up. When I came back they declined me checking in. Because they said the system showed over 30 minutes! Even though I got the text less than 25minites! What joke was that!
Great experience at CityMD on 42nd. Self check in kiosk was available- watched receptionist disinfect after every other person or so. The waiting room had amble space to social distance. I was there for Covid-19 testing and was in and out within 30 minutes. Staff were all very nice and helpful. I was seen by Dr. Gallagher- she was extremely friendly and upbeat which I really appreciated. Doctors as friendly as her are hard to come by!
The nurse assistant was not wearing his mask on his nose properly. I gave feedback and said this was putting me and other patients at risk. I will be lodging a formal complaint. I am pregnant and it is unacceptable for any health care professional to not wear a mask properly.
Well-run and organized. Arrived at 7:35am for a COVID test, with about 7 people in front of me. Opened at 8:00am. Was allowed in at 8:20 and finished by 9:00 (would have been sooner if I didn’t need a signed document). Staff was very friendly, professional and helpful. Recommended to colleagues already!
I gave this urgent care 5 stars, because of how fast and easy the check in process is on the kiosk. The front desk girls are very welcoming and friendly. I also love that i don’t have to wait longer than 10min to be seen. The nurses and physicians assistant in the back are very friendly and informative. I love this place and i highly recommend!!
This week I went to the CityMD in my neighborhood for a rapid covid test. Everyone I met was helpful, kind, and efficient. And within 30 minutes after I left, my results were in my email. Its not the first time theyve been extremely valuable to me, my family and my neighbors. Im grateful theyre there.
The “care giver” or Dr. that spoke to me at the end was terrible, the worst. Paper work says her name is Sonali G. She told me the COVID antibody test was a useless test. That I shouldn’t be taking it because I had no symptoms. Told me not to blame her if I got a blood clot because I chose the blood test. She said my insurance probably wasn’t going to cover it and to be ready to pay hundreds if not a thousand dollars for it. She ruined my experience there. Don’t know why she was so nasty, I had just met her 2 seconds before. Everybody else was great, the doorman, everybody in reception and my nurse.
This place is awesome from the front door security guard to the young lady in the front. Don’t want to miss spell anyone’s name but today they were my angels sent from God. I’m here on a plane writing this review. I just couldn’t wait, I came in today for a rapid Covid test and was taken care of in no time and mansard it in time to a doctors appointment I had and the beat part is I made my flight. Thank you so much to everyone at this location you guys work miracles. Can’t say enough good things about the guard and the front desk young lady with a heart of an angel 👼. Peace and many blessings to all those first responders that we take for granted. They deserve the world 🌎.Thanks and best regardsRaymond
The staff is super nice and really take their time to get to know the problem you are having. I saw the PA Jessica, but I felt she was better than even most full doctors of not on par. The facilities are nice and clean as well. The receptionists are also great, they really work with you to help you figure things out. Truly great work they do here, and quick too! Granted I came during an off-time but still they didnt keep me waiting unnecessarily like other doctors Ive been to.
Honestly, I never write reviews but I came here for free COVID testing, which feels daunting because of the disease itself and figuring out if everything is actually covered under insurance but it was a SUPER pleasant experience. Right from the door you’re greeted by the manager and she walks you through using the little self check in kiosk and that’s that! She’s friendly and incredibly helpful, which makes the whole experience much easier.
The waiting time really depends on the day/what time of the day you go and could vary between anywhere from 1 min to 4 hrs. It gets really cold outside because there is no heating system and the entire 42nd street is a wind tunnel. Once you go inside, you can tell it’s well managed and kept clean. Only 6 people are allowed at any given point in the indoor waiting area. All of the staff I’ve met was professional and friendly. Thank you for the work during the pandemic!!!
Went for a Covid test at 8:08AM on Friday before Thanksgiving. I waited on line for 3.5 hours. Once I was inside, I was out in about 10/15 min. I give cleanliness and staff friendliness 5 stars. But the crazy long wait standing in the cold I would give 1 star. I hope this location can figure out how to speed up the covid testing process. Even having patients register themselves while waiting outside would cut time out of this process.
In town as a tourist. Obviously if your kid gets sick (and is miserable) and you are not near your own pediatrician, it can create a sense of discomfort. We assumed our 3 year old had an ear infection. Woke up and decided we needed to see a doctor. Very kind, professional staff. Clean facility and got in quickly to see the doctor. We left feeling much better after we had a medical professional confirm our suspicions and he prescribed the necessary antibiotics. Very satisfied.
I love this place. I have my primary doctor elsewhere in the city, but I live a block away from this place and its so convenient, never full of people waiting around, and the doctors and staff are nice people. Ive never waited more than 25 minutes to be seen. Theres never been a long wait. They took my insurance the first time and I can walk in anytime I want. Its perfect if you just have a small health problem, cold, flu, infection, or blood test you might need, but cant wait 2 weeks to see your primary doctor. Im not sure how much it is if you have no insurance, but its still a great place to get checked out for routine things. They also do blood tests in house so you wont have to follow up by going to a diagnostics place for testing. Cant rave about this place enough. So glad it opened so close to me.
Came here for a COVID test. Arrived 7:50 (10 min before opening time) on a wednesday; had to wait 3 hours to get in the building. They let people in 2 at a time every 10 min. Once inside the building its another 30 min of waiting to get the test and have the doctor see you.I would recommend either coming a lot earlier than opening time. If not, expect to wait a long time. The line length didnt get much longer during the time i was here (If the line snakes 3 times and past the scaffold expect to wait at least 3 hours!)CityMD should really consider an expedited process for people who want covid tests.
I was having a kidney stone passing and I could hardly walk is was so painful. I found this location and hobbled there. I was seen by a doctor and nurse in about 10 minutes. The staff was very good. Kind and helpful. Its very comforting to know there is help just around the corner if one gets sick or is having an emergency. Highly recommended!!
Not impressed! Coming from a country with very good health services this came as quite a shock. Incredibly expensive, only to be seen by a doctor for only a couple of minutes and clearly not listened to properly. Walked away with a prescription and realised it was wrong when I picked the meds up. Called the clinic back and explained the situation to have the receptionist hang up the call without saying a word. Then called back again, receptionist picked up and hunf up again. Called third time - this time she had the decency to talk to me, but apparently had no record of me visiting the clinic earlier the same day. I then had to go back there in person, only to be told what I already knew, i.e. they messed up the prescription dosage, and accused for not taking the right med dosage that day, even though I have no medical experience and couldn’t have know that - it was only pure luck that I have a doctor in the family who recognised the dosage I was originally prescribed was wrong. All in all, first experience of medical healthcare and hopefully the last one! Rude, unprofessional, unhelpful and utterly hopeless. I can only be thankful my health issue wasn’t serious. Do not recommend at all, and would give 0 stars if that was an option on Google.
The place / experience is fine but If your going to urgent care to get any testing done, DONT specially if you expect quick results. The average wait time for results in this nation is roughly 2-3 business days and these folks cant even beat 6-7.Adding more... My labs were taken on Monday and it is now the following wednesday with no response. I dont care to hear any explanation on how the lab servicing company was delayed. Thats not a customer / patients problem. If you are delayed you should be following up with both the vendor AND the customer. not the other way around.
Very good, pleasant staffs and excellent Doctor. I tested Covid 19 negative by Rapid swab test. The doctor himself did the nasal swab on me again (for PCR testing) since I said I have loss of taste and loss of smell. Thank God this Doctor believed me. It turned out I am Covid-19 positive by PCR testing. Being a Cancer patient on remission this is very important to me. Thank you 🙏🏻 CityMD West 42nd Urgent Care NYC.
Extremely prompt and efficient service. Facility is clean and modern looking. The receptionist was very friendly and very efficient in registering our insurance information. I’m not sure I’d come here for a serious illness but it seems like a good first option especially if you’re traveling and visiting New York.
I arrived around 7:10 and was on my way out the door around 7:35. I only waited about 2 minutes to be called back after checking in. The assistant was very nice and the doctor was extremely helpful. the facility was also very clean. everything about this place was awesome, highly recommend this location!!!
This was my first time at this location. Clean, polite staff and quick! I had a reaction to a wasp sting and they sorted it out for me. Im in NY from Florida on business and was worried I wouldnt be able to find a good option to take care of my concern. The doctor that helped me was sooooooo amazing. She explained everything in detail and helped me understand the reaction I was having as well as the Medication she prescribed. Thank you for your help!
Ive never had a medical experience that was so modern, clean, friendly, accommodating, and, most importantly, thorough. The entire staff at City MD - from the receptionists to the nurses to the doctors to the lab technicians - are fantastic. I would go here again in a heartbeat! Thank you!
The doctor and PAs were good. However, the same cant be said for the front of the desk/office. I was told at the time of my discharge that I would receive my invoice via email.I called back on 2 separate occasions to ask for my paid invoice. The last time that I called, I was promptly placed on hold for 20 minutes. As I was waiting, I decided to walk into the office. To my surprise, the office waiting room is completely empty with no one on a phone call, and noticeable laughing from the back of the office. The receptionist was dismissive in her responses when I told her that I havent received my invoice.I will avoid CityMd from now on as it is not worth the aggravation; I suggest others do so too.
Rudest front desk and intake staff EVER. Half of them weren’t even wearing their masks properly covering their nose. The girl who asked me questions in the exam room also discriminated against me because she told me a white man shouldn’t complain about pain. Management did nothing.
The service was very quick officiant an excellent. I spent more time checking in on the kiosk than I did with what I needed because since I was a new patient I had trouble with their intake on their kiosk where somebody had to come help me in and put everything for me.
Visiting NYC from the UK and my mums Asthma became problematic on the day of flying home. The service here was amazing from start to finish, seen rapidly and all our concerns listened to. Doctor gave medication and fit to fly certificate, in and out in less than half and hour. Thanks so much for the great service!!
Went there with very bad pain, swelling and infection. Doctor spent less than 5 minutes with me, prescribed wrong meds that didnt work at all.... spent 3 days in unbelievable pain, till i went to another doctor, who gave me different medication. Two hours after taking it, i already felt better and the swelling started to come down. I do not recommend this place at all...waste of money, and more importantly, so much pain and suffering, because i chose them.
Came here on Wednesday afternoon with my son who had an earache so bad he wouldnt stop crying. He was back within 10 min of check-in. Very clean facility and friendly staff. Cash visit runs around $120. If you need some quick care, I would definitely recommend CityMD.
I came in because i was having some eye irritation that felt like i was getting poked. The doctor was super nice and pleasant n made sure i was comfortable. He ended up finding out i had a stye inside my eye after running several tests. He prescribed some medicine and recommended a warm compress. I was very satisfied n the stye went away after several days.
This place is genuinely terrible. They “accept insurance” but charged $230 for a visit that took 5 minutes and included absolutely no tests. They also misdiagnosed me despite me directly telling the doctor what I believed I had (turns out I was right) and then never sent me the referral they said they would. Avoid at all costs.
Dont bring children there. My son was ill and the dr. just said he had the flu since it was flu season. No test were ran. He said since he was sick for 2 or 3 days that he cant take Tamiflu. Basically go home. My son is medically fragile. He got better on his own a couple of days later.Weve had the flu in the past and he was sick for a couple of weeks. If he had the flu he wouldnt have bounced back that fast. It seemed liked the dr. didnt feel like being bothered.I ended up taking my son somewhere else the next day since I wasnt pleased with his treatment. I explained where I took him the day before and what happened. I was told that other parents have come in with the same complaint about different locations. They gave me the information of a pediatric urgent care for future needs because they were just a general pediatrician. They dont do lab work, but I was grateful for the information.
The doctors were very quick and attentive--double checked some things like blood pressure, which was good. Only downside is they dont have a record of which pharmacies are open when, so I sent my prescription to a closed pharmacy. Now Im at a different and CLOSER one, and its TAKING FOREVER for them to transfer it over. Might just walk over there and ask what the hold up is be its down the street. It was empty when I left. People have lives you know? I just want to feel better...
Such a scamming company. Advise everyone to AVOID visiting them.I paid a visit because of a fever and finger infection. They made you sign a waiver whereas merely telling you “the base visit rate will be $125”. On the waiver you sign, it states “you’re likely to be billed more if your case is determined as medium or high” . However there’s no clear language on the waiver about how they categorize low, medium, or high. And I assumed my case would be low. (Which was later confirmed by the receptionist here but got contradicted by the billing management on my phone call later) They billed me another $125 after the visit, and when I called their billing customer service, someone said “because you had a prescription so it’s medium, so you were charged $250 in total” I asked her what would be a “low case”, she said “without prescription or treatment, which I have yet to seen one”So basically 99% of the visits to cityMD would be more than $250 but they will never tell you in the first place. I think their receptionists were being instructed to say “the base rate is $125” without clarifying that’s technically not going to happen. I would’ve never continued the visit if I knew it’s going to be $250 instead of $125. The utter non transparent information makes cityMD purely an evil Corp intending to capitalize to the maximum of your urgent need in case of an emergency walk in and intentionally and purposefully hiding information beforehand in order to profit to their gains afterwords. Most disgusting corporate business mode I’ve encountered so far, period.
THANK YOU CITY MD !If you need to go anywhere please go to CityMD everywhere else is BS n not nice This is the best place ever when you need medical help. My friend got something in her eye that she was suffering from for two days we went to other places and they where not nice and refused to look up my friends insurance cause she didnt have the account number because the little girl at the reception desk was too busy on her Facebook and talking on her cell phone then I found a CityMD across the street WHAT GREAT SERVICE GREAT HELP ! ALWAYS THE BEST THANK U CITYMD 100 Stars ! The wonderful person at the reception had no problem with helping and everything went well ! THANK YOU !!!!!
Just make sure a Medical Assistant is in the office if you need any blood work done. Doctor Belz tried to take my blood and now I got two holes in my arms and I gotta come back tomorrow. Should have just recommended I come back tomorrow instead if you knew you were so terrible at it!!
Came in with debilitating flu and sore throat on a Saturday morning. After filling out all of the admission paperwork, I was told that they couldnt call in my insurance because it was Saturday and I would need to pay $125 out of pocket. I carry a Cigna (top 5) insurance policy through a federal benefit plan, not a small/local insurance company. I didnt realize that URGENT care didnt apply to weekends. Never made it past the receptionist.
If i could dats this place 0 stars i would .. i have been to various city md’s & never been treated as poor as i did in rhis location, the PA was super rude, telling me that i was lying about what had happened to me prior to the visit .. the staff was okay but i would not recommend this place my blood pressure was worse then when i came in after dealing with these people .. dont waste your time especially if you’re waiting to be seen after making a line 2-3 hours!!!
Had to call 5 times to get a prescription sent around the corner to Walgreens. They kept saying it was sent but I would walk around the corner and they would never get it. Their “aftercare department”Hung up on me when I was waiting for help.Usually CityMD is great, this time. AWFUL.
NOW THIS IS WHAT I CALL AN URGENT CARE. WONDERFUL STAFF & GREAT DOCTORS. THIS IS THE BEST LOCATION TO GO TO.! MUCH BETTER THAN THE ONE ON QUEENS BLVD & WOODHAVEN IN QUEENS. STAFF AT THIS LOCATION SHOULD TEACH THE STAFF AT THE QUEENS LOCATION HOW TO BE PROFESSIONAL, COMPASSIONATE & HOW TO GREAT THE CLIENTS WITH A SMILE!!! THIS LOCATION IS THE BEST CITY MD EVER!!!

2022-07-24Based on other reviews, it seems like it really depends on which doctor sees you. I went in last week just to make sure everything was okay after I had fainted the day before.I had fainted before, but developed a weird symptom of feeling like there’s fluid in my right ear. So I wanted to ask about that also. First, I had to wait 20min in waiting room, then 20 additional mins in an exam room before the doctor saw me. Once the doctor walked in, she asked if I came in for other issues..? And I saw no. She apologized saying she had confused me with another patient. Then when I asked her if the clogged ear sensation had anything to do with fainting and she quickly cut me off and said that has nothing to do with it. So then I asked if it could possibly be related to another condition I have. Then she quickly said no and started walking out the door when I still had questions. The whole time, I felt like I was an inconvenience, and felt like I wasn’t being heard. She said I don’t have an ear infection and probably just have fluid in my middle ear. And that was the whole diagnosis. Now it’s been 2 days and my right ear is killing me, I’ll probably need to go see another doctor if this doesn’t go away.

2022-02-22While on a short family trip, needed to bring our daughter in after she developed a new fever. While concerned about having to find impromptu care in an unfamiliar city, we visited with a provider and medical assistant on the morning of 4/19/22. The front desk, medical assistant and provider were all welcoming, kind and caring. They met and exceeded our last minute needs! Thank you for being there for us!

2021-08-23I have to come here to test for covidrapid every monday because work. This is what is happening now. Here they will tell you is packed and you will have to wait hours for the test to not check in the ipad. That they will text you and that you will have to wait outside. The guard keeps TELLING YOU TO LEAVE because is going to take HOURS. I stayed outside by the door and kept looking them in the eyes because the place was EMPTY as you can see in the pictures. They made me waste 50 minutes for a 2 minutes covid test.Other people came in and were told the same and they left.In the pictures you can see the plqce is empty while frontdesk tell people it will take hours that they should leave.

2022-03-24Doctor prescribed me Zyrtec for a sinus infection and proceeded to scream at me when I called and claimed I had no infection because I was not experiencing it for 14 days?! This place is awful and completely stealing peoples money and time.

2021-09-22I visited this clinic to do a regular set of std tests and everyone seemed nice and professional. However, I received the promised “same-day” results a week later with most of the tests results having comments like “No suitable specimen received. Please review the test requirements” and the reason for the visit stated as “Contact with and exposure to HIV”

2021-10-01Since we live close by this is our place to go for any emergency that needs urgent attention. They are always doing a fantastic job, also very friendly with kids! I think we’re regulars. From broken toes to knife cut fingers or other injuries. Treatment was great and if further attention is necessary they help you with suggestions or even make the appointment ahead (e.g. needed to see another specialist due to broken foot)

2022-03-24I visited there for the antigen covid test for an international travel. The facility was clean and the staff was kind and informative.
