Run! Run to any other urgent care but this one. You’ll be charged $300 without being told by triage whether they treat you for the illness you’re seeking help for only to be told by a doctor that not only will he not treat you, he won’t see you. Douglas Kaiden MD refused to check out my symptoms because he only does “broken arms and viruses”, so I left crying and in pain only to receive a bill for $300. It’s a scam. 0 stars.
My teenager suffered a dance injury and had an emergency x-ray performed at CityMD West 69th. We visited a specialist for recommended follow-up and learned that the images taken by the technician at CityMD were of excellent quality. The technician was efficient and friendly. My daughters healthcare provider was kind and had a good sense of humor. We hope to avoid future injuries, but its comforting to know that CityMD West 69th is available for quick and high-quality x-rays.
Friendly and well organized.Went again to get CPR COVID test. Never received a notification e-mail about my test results, finally checked the website, the results were there, but it was too late to book the flight. The staff double-checked my email address just before I left, thats why I was expecting an e-mail. Missed my trip, extremely disappointed.I came for a rapid COVID test, no problems there. But then I was forced to see a doctor. Tried to refuse unsuccessfully. The doctor came, exchanged a small talk for a few seconds. My insurance will be billed at least $200 for that few seconds of nonsense (I know, because it happened before). I dont want any part of it, will try to avoid CitiMD in the future.
The words JUST WALK IN on the window of City MD beckon with ease and simplicity. But the experience was anything but. Only reason I gave 2 not 1 star was because the doctor we saw—when we finally finally finally got to see her—was kind and compassionate. Otherwise, the process leading up to getting her to see us took forever and ever. Over an hour in the wait room, after two others who came in after us were taken before us. Then 20 minutes in stuffy exam room waiting for doctor. Another 15 minutes waiting for X-ray. Another 15 minutes waiting for results. It took three hours to find out about a fracture! Come on!
The staff at 69th and Broadway are kind, considerate and knowledgeable. The Physician’s Assistants and doctors are excellence and take time to listen. They know that if you are coming to an urgent care facility you are pretty stressed out to say the least. It makes all the difference when you realize they understand.
I would consider myself a difficult patient (one who hates going to the doctor!), but that didnt deter Dr. Chioma Okafor-Mbah Gomez and Medical Scribe Keira Gaton from comforting me and making me feel cared for, as I was very nervous. Both were exceptionally personable, great listeners, kind, and empathetic to my concerns. They really listened to me (not pretend listening), did not pressure me for time, worked within my limitations, and in the end made it possible for me to receive the care I needed. Medical Scribe Keira Gaton was persistent in advocating for me while I was struggling with being in a medical facility. Dr. Okafor-Mbah Gomez is a perceptive doctor who understood me from the first words we exchanged. She was patient and provided me with professional and effective care - this was a special experience I will not soon forget. What a relief!
The person at the front desk is incompetent except for one woman who talk with me. One of the short-haired men in particular had an unpleasant tone and told me, who was sick, to wait outside. He was very bad to say. I cant trust the place where I can talk to people who are sick in that tone. While the temperature was 32F, I waited for an hour with a fever outside. The illness gets worse. I understand I had to wait but I felt too bad because of him.Even if the doctor is competent, if the front desk is incompetent, there will be a lot of waiting time and you should not go there.
Avoid. My pregnant wife went in seeking help with morning sickness. The doctor prescribed a drug that is specifically recommended against use during pregnancy (despite there being others that are FDA approved for pregnant women). We even checked with the dispensing pharmacy and told them she was pregnant and they were shocked the doctor had prescribed this and told her definitely do not take the medication. Definitely dont trust these guys.
Pick another location if you have the option to. I had the worst medical treatment Ive ever experienced at this location last week.I arrived not feeling well, wondering if I had Covid. I had tested negative but had symptoms. My boyfriend had tested positive on one test and negative on another. We were confused and wanted clarification. Instead of explaining to us how the tests work and comforting us, it was the most antagonistic get out of my face confrontation ever, from not one - but TWO doctors. At one point, i was accused of having been dishonest. I couldnt believe it then, and I cant believe it even now. As IF I want to unnecessarily have another test put up my nose. Those tests are not comfortable. Both doctors acted like they would rather be ANYWHERE else except there, doing their jobs.I left that day confused about my symptoms, which is not a feeling you want when you leave a doctors office. Zero peace of mind. Never going back to this CityMD ever. Even if theres no line to get in. Not worth it.Pick another location. The one on the UWS (in the 80s) is great.
Came to urgent care for a distressing medical purpose and it was made clear by the medical assistants from the get-go that I would not receive much help. The provider did his best to set up a plan of action and URGENT STAT referral with me, and that is the only reason I gave this place more than one star. However, after it was made VERY clear by the provider to at least three different people of the plan and its TIME SENSITIVE NATURE , upon my calling the following day, there was no record of what we had talked about and the URGENT nature of this situation that I heard him express to several people was also not on record at all. There was no STAT referral on record. This was very stressful and forced me to advocate for myself and fight to implement what the doctor (who was not there that day and apparently could not be reached whatsoever according to the woman I spoke to) and I had agreed upon. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
The doctor gave the worst sick visit check up I’ve ever had. I had to direct him to check my ears, nose and throat. I’m not even sure if he did or not. I had a horrible sore throat, but tested negative. I also had the top 3 signs for covid delta variant, but doctor didNot mention anything about that or a covid test.
The staff must have been exhausted at 5pm in the middle of a pandemic but you wouldnt know it by their demeanor. They were all patient and friendly and made the experience a lot less stressful. I was amazed at how kind and happy they seemed despite them having a huge line outside the whole day. Amazing service, especially during a pandemic.
I came there to get antibodies tested for covid 19.I have very good veins, every nurse always told me . Here the nurses could not get there for the life of them . After picking me with needles, and telling me my veins are bad finally doctor appeared and said - oh, I see what happened, the nurse did not do it right, your veins are fine.He was nice and staff is nice but I wish I have not been picked so many times for nothing .
Very kind and helpful staff!I went once and if the line takes about 2-3h if it goes to the back of the building.I like that the iPads automate the process a lot, but if you could just sign up online beforehand, there should be a separate line for testing, so the doctors can focus on actual patients. It could be as simple as: signing up online (scan healthcare card etc), name, bday, symptoms etc., reserving a 10-15 min time-slot, getting in a separate line, identifying yourself, a professional sticking the swap up the nose, and leaving within 20-30 min instead of the 3h currently required.
Fast great and over all professional. Im starting to see and feel my age by the faces and how young the doctor are. Wow. Not a bad thing. Just the truth of the years passing by. These medical facility are all over and easier to go and to be seen. Not like a hospital clinic at a hospitol its making a long awaited appointments and long waits at the hospitals.
I went here for the first time. Within 5 minutes they had me registered and within another 5 minutes I was seeing a doctor. She and all the staff were all very friendly and sympathetic.I had been coughing for two weeks. After listening to my chest breathing and taking a flu swab, they decided to take a chest x-ray to check for pneumonia.I left after thirty minutes with a diagnosis of pneumonia and prescriptions phoned to my pharmacy, all for a $60 co-pay.You cannot ask for a better experience than that!
The front staff are lovely and professional. Same goes for the nurses and medical staff - they are thorough, professional, and kind. However, as many of the reviews have also stated, the doctors give less than five minute face time - so brief that I did not even get to ask important questions. Most importantly, on two occasions the doctors have been incorrect about my illness and injury, as once I was able to see my PCP he confirmed the inaccurate diagnoses. For your healthy and safety, I do not recommend you or your family go to this clinic.
You’re better off going to the emergency room or treating yourself with WebMD.This place specializes in unnecessarily long wait times, poor to non-existent communication about when you’ll be seen by a doctor, incompetent and discourteous staff, and no aftercare follow-up (once you’re out the door it’s as if you never entered, regardless of test results, treatment or necessary follow-on visits). It’s the second worst CityMD in the city, after 125th street.
It takes 10 days to get your Covid nasal results from this clinic. I was told this after waiting 8 days to get my results. From a public health perspective, this defeats the whole purpose of getting the test in the first place. I was also told it will take 2 weeks to get the results to my urine test for a possible infection, which again defeats the whole purpose of having the test. So I ended up going to my doctors office where it takes only 3 days. Despite the terrible testing turnaround times, I had a very good experience with every staff person I interacted with at this clinic.
The entire staff, from the receptionists to the nurses, med techs and doctors, were extremely helpful, knowledgeable and kind. Im so happy to have this kind of quality care available to me in my neighborhood that Im using them as my primary care physicians. Oh, and I was in and out of there in less than 45 minutes.
My mom went there because she had a cough and sore throat that was lingering. The person they sent to see her was a nursing aide or PA and not a doctor. What was really inexcusable however was the person didnt perform any sort of physical on my mom, didnt check her glands or sound her to see if she had pneumonia. Instead, she just gave her a Rx and told her to be on her way.
My first visit to City MD 69th urgent care was just beautiful, was just met with such warm and professional medical assistant at the check in counter that help with everything, including typing in my information into the system I just stood they in amazement of such care from the counter reception, then my examination was really professional and handle with such care. I Highly recommend City MD 69th street & Broadway to everyone that needs urgent care , you will feel at home the staff is very professional, and I want to say very welcoming and naturally SWEET..The very best to everyone at City MD at 69th & Broadway may God richly bless you 🙏 Love your urgent care Facility....
The receptionist and the pa were magnificent! The one star is for the doctor who works on fridays. I went in for a common occurrence that i get frequently, and the doctor was hesitant to write me a prescription for it. Commented on me being there for the same diagnosis a few months prior as if i was making it up. I had to push get the medicine i needed. This doctor made me uncomfortable, and almost made me doubt something that i know is common with my body. Especially being a black woman and knowing the history between doctors and people of color, being not heard or believed in that treatment room made it feel a whole lot worst.
My recent visit and experience at CityMD W. 69th was all positive. The 2 people at the front reception desk were friendly, efficient, and helpful. There was hardly any wait early afternoon on Saturday when I arrived to be checked for a head injury. José, who escorted me into the exam room and took my info and vitals, was very professional. Dr. Henry Cho examined and spoke with me. The doctor was empathic, knowledgable, and a very good communicator. He explained that, given my symptoms after sustaining the head injury, since I take an anticoagulant/blood thinner medication it was important to determine whether there was any bleeding in the skull. So he told me to go immediately to the ER for a CT scan, advised me as to my best options for which hospital, and quickly wrote up a diagnosis and referral note with instructions for me to take to the ER. The visit could not have been more pleasant, helpful, and perfect. Thank you, CityMD.
I would not know where to start. Wrong diagnosis. They assumed I had strep since ISaid I had a sore throat. They failed to note the roaring cough and put in their notes non productive coughInitial culture was negative. Not surprising as I knew I did not have strep. It seemed to be they thought I had a viral issue and therefore could not write a prescription. Real bummer for doctors today since they get more money doing that.Fortunately when the Dr simulated how to take a throat lozenge with an imaginary throat lozenge I knew to seek a second opinion. I was found to have a severe case of bronchitis and monitored for pneumonia.I called this practice back twice. The first time I was told the bacteria from my second culture was not back and they would call but keep following what the second doctor said but if I needed a stronger antibiotic they would make good on the negligent visit.Today I was told that the notes only spoke of my sore throat. I gave the symptoms of strep and did not discuss my cough according to the notes. They did not discuss that I said I felt like I had gravel in my throat or that my throat felt swollen and I felt burning in my chest.I suppose I could ignore all of it except they are trying to charge me for a visit where my diagnosis was sore throat (while true I told them that amongst other things) and asked me why I called to tell them that they are negligent.Excuse me direct quote maam I am confused for the reason for this call.My responseI hope you are never treated the way I was. Thats my reason Negligent. It is stupid at its most incredible.Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.
My mother went in for a sudden eye irritation and swelling on her eye. The doctor we got was Peter Howell and he was absolutely awful. He touched my moms face without gloves on and he was scratching his head right before. He also used a non-sterile q-tip and rubbed the inside of her eye with it. He also kept putting his hands in his pocket and was so unsanitary. He also looked really unprofessional. Pretty shocked he is able to hold a job at a citymd. If we ever go back we will make sure not to get him again. Not to mention the receptionist seemed annoyed by us and seemed to not want to be working there. So miserable. The medical assistant was the only person that did his job and he did it better than the PA did honestly.
The front office staff was AWESOME! The wait time was less than 5 minutes. And that is about it. The doctor barely spoke with me, and only manipulated my ankle after I asked him to. They did not take x-rays, but said they would set me up with an orthopedic, as I dont know any. I called 2 weeks later, as they were supposed to call last week, and they had not even tried. The medicine the doctor gave me conflicts with another medication I am on, and I mentioned this. He snapped at me and said its fine for short term. Well, I took one pill and the effects were awful, especially with the heat wave. Should have gone to the one around the corner, but supposedly, this was in network. I dont think it matters for Urgent Care, though. DOAH!
Not a bad wait for a walk in but I might have received 5 min of the doctors time. Front desk was nice enough but hardly a physical exam given for my pain just gave me pills which I was not happy about. I dislike the whole take these and you will feel better especially when there is no follow up
Why do I even have to give a star? . But the doctor who saw me was in SUCH a rush to leave work, and did not give me x-ray, which later on I went to my podiatrist, we take a x-ray, we find the issue in the x-ray. Where the doctor gave some very vague conclusion. More proofs can provide too.
Got here at 7:50am(they open at 8) for COVID test on a Saturday morning, the line has already wrapped around the corner. Waited 3 hours to get inside, waited another 10mins to see the nurse and finally the doc. I am not exactly sure why it takes sooooo long, the actually test only takes 5 mins!So come prepared(like old school Black Friday style), bring your folding chair, heated blanket, whatever you need.
We took our 10 month old daughter here at the suggestion of our hotel. Dr Cho was absolutely wonderful and went above and beyond to ensure she was treated immediately and responding to medication before allowing us to leave. We considered taking our daughter to the ER, given the severity of the situation, but took her here first for assessment and were so pleasantly surprised that they had access to a nebulizer and oral steroids and could treat her immediately. I would absolutely go back and would highly recommend Dr Cho based on our experience there.
This is a review of the overall company and not this specific location. The location is clean and the staff is polite and friendly and they are doing their best. I recently went to go get my covid-19 test there on July 2, I was told it would take 3-5 days to get results. On July 9 I hadnt gotten results back and reached out via email and social media. I was told right away on facebook that it was now on average 7 days so I would receive an answer soon, on July 16 I got an email response from the company telling me that the average response time was 7 days, I responded that we were 14 days out. I havent heard back. I never got test results back. I can be a rude person, but I havent been this time.
To me my visit was basically going to talk to a person who gave me a print out of another provider or hospital, it was a waste of time. I did not get the proper help, waste of $200. I spoke to a doctor for a minute, he had no idea and gave me a print out another plakknj.g vce. If the physician is not able to help you, you shouldnt pay; its a ripe off, because he did not do anything to help. Now I have to go to another provider and spend more money.
Wait time was good but everything else was awful. I’m sure the doctor I saw is a nice lady but with 3 minutes of face time I wouldn’t know. At least I have a bag of mystery medication to google the effects of to keep myself occupied. There’s another walk-in on the other corner, I hope you read their reviews after seeing this one.
The place was clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. We were seen within 10 minutes. Nurse was great as was Dr. Cho who saw us. He did a chest x-ray right then and there and read it right away and consulted about it within 20 minutes. He also gave my husband some medication right then and there. The only reservation I had was that Dr. Cho prescribed an antibiotic that potentially could interact with the Predisnone he prescribed. I double checked that with my GP. So I called CityMD and another doctor prescribed a different antibiotic.
This is the worst Urgent Care walk-in clinic I have ever been to. If I could give it less than one star I would. Specifically, the front desk manager Amanda Martinez is the rudest, most unprofessional person you could ever have “running” a front desk. I checked in and the pleasant receptionist told me it would be approx. an hour wait so I told them “no problem” as I had to run next door to the Duane Reade anyway for a birthday card (literally 10 steps away) and she said she couldn’t agree to hold my place. I told her I would be 5 minutes max, she said it didn’t matter, that if someone came in while I was gone, she would put them ahead of me, even if the doctor didn’t call for me.What’s the point of checking in and registering if they don’t hold your place. I would never recommend this place to anyone. I will also be calling corporate headquarters to complain about Amanda and how she treats patients. Also, they don’t even have real doctors you see a physicians assistant the physicians assistant I saw was Dr. Cho and he was useless.
I went in for stitches. Less than an hour later they came out and had to be replaced. 24 hours later two of my stitches had come out. I was told they could not be replaced due to possible infection. Now I have a bulk bandage. Everyone was nice, but I’m still stuck with this bulky bandage.
Highly unprofessional bordering on malpractice. The doctor prescribed an unnecessary round of amoxicillin and prednisone after my rapid strep test showed a negative strep culture. A couple of days later the more detailed lab test confirmed that there was no trace of strep found. So I was unnecessarily put on antibiotics with no proof that I needed to have them. The attending physician simply made up that I had strep throat when there was in fact no evidence that I did and exposed me to an unnecessary dose of antibiotics and steroids. I wish I had not listened to him, but one usually does to medical professionals.
I went for a COVID test and Antibody test and had a great experience/ quick turnaround:Thurs @ 12pm: Waited in line for 30 min, 12:30pm: Quick registration process to complete and directed to sit in an empty chair, 12:35pm: Called back to room where a swab test and blood sample were administered (everything was very clean, staff was friendly), 12:45pm: Checked out and left with no issuesSat @ 3am: Got antibody results (notification sent to log into portal to review results), 9:30am: Got COVID test results (again, notification sent to log into portal to review results)Whole process with results start to finish was ~2 days with no issues and free- highly recommend this test center!
Dr. Henry Cho who saw my dad for intractable hiccups prescribed a muscle relaxer Robaxin which is neither FDA approved or even off labeled use for hiccups. He sees my mother months later for symptoms of new onset headache and ear rash and diagnoses cellulitis (skin infection), gives her an antibiotics which is completely useless when in fact her symptoms are from shingles and she needs at antiviral medicine! 0/2 is not a good track record!
Walked in to have a laceration stitched up, waited 30 mins until I inquired about the wait time to see a physician after I noticed walks in who arrived after me were being called in. I was then informed by the front desk I would need to wait an additional 20-25 before being called in because all the doctors were “tied up”

2022-03-09It was a huge plus to be able to go to this venue on the spur of the moment. My heart had been racing and I was feeling quite weak and slightly dizzy. The staff were all extremely pleasant and professional.I had an EKG and blood work. Perfect! Dr. was extremely helpful!I love my GP but her office is much further away so dropping by on W. 69th St., and Broadway was in my immediate neighborhood! Perfect!

2022-04-25Warning to anyone who goes to a CityMD - if they refer you to a specialist, you will be charged $415 for your new patient visit. Regardless of what happens during the appointment - that is their policy, per my conversation with the billings department. I have insurance, and even after that I got hit with a $250 for my 10 minute urgent care appointment and then a $350 bill for my 15 minute specialist appointment that they referred me to, during which I wasnt even physically examined. I called Summit Health and tried to get my charges reviewed, but Im currently out $600 for less than half an hour of actual medical attention (that didnt even fix the problem). I would HIGHLY recommend seeking out medical care elsewhere if you dont want to spend hundreds of dollars.

2022-05-22They were very nice but misdiagnosed me. Kept thinking it was COVID even though I had 4 previous negative rapid tests and a negative PCR test. Their rapid test was negative and their PCR test took 4 days to come back. Way too long. It turns out I had bronchitis. Got antibiotics from my primary care doc.

2022-03-02Excellent care and customer service. Extremely nice providers! Front desk people are burned out...but maybe they were having a bad day. They could have helped me check in on the kiosk, but told me I would have to enter my info manually because the kiosk wasnt working. She neglected to tell me there was another kiosk I could use, which I did, saving me a lot of time. But care is EXCELLENT and hardly any waiting time.

2022-04-19I visited the City MD Clinic on 2025 Broadway, New York, NY 10023I received what I thought was a free Rapid Covid Test and was told by the doctor that this required an actual doctors visit, which only lasted less than 2 minutes. The doctor (wont mention gender) stated since I did not have symptoms, I shouldve gotten a at home test. I mentioned I did not have any at the moment and was under the understanding that the test was free, as it was the number of times in the past. This short conversation left me very confused because I wasnt experiencing any symptoms and have received several free covid tests from the same clinic in the past and always had a doctor come see me afterwards.Soon after I asked the front desk if the Covid Test was still free and they said no. I was shocked and disappointed to hear this because there was no communication during my registration on the ipad, both verbal or written for me to comprehend and understand that these recent changes took place. The worker at the front test showed me a document on a clip board, but that wasnt shown to me before I signed off. Why have receptionists or specialists working a front desk if they fail to give patients required and necessary information that determine how we approve and make our healthcare decisions? Had these updates and changes were communicated to me properly and effectively, I would have simply gone to a drug store and bought a $20 at home test. Now I will be billed and obligated to pay a ridiculous amount of money out of pocket for something that resulted from the mistakes and shortcomings of your team and company.

2022-04-16I came in to recieve medical attention for a lump on my elbow. After giving my necessary information to the front desk I was brought into and exam room, a very polite assistant took further information. Afterwards she left and a Dr. Garcia came to the exam room stood 2 of 3 ft from and told me that they do not perform a simple procedure of draining a cyst on my elbow, for which he only visually looked at from 2 or 3 ft from me. He then told me he can refer me to another specialist. I came in to have a minor procedure taken care. If this cannot be done in this type of establishment why are you here. Just to give Covid vaccinations. So now I will have to take this to some where else. And they still took my money.

2022-03-21If you are a black woman coming to this particular city MD please understand its not the nurses, its not the receptionist, its one of the doctors there. They will try; key word try to talk down to you tell you theres nothing they can do and this is a waste of time and energy. Clearly either he doesnt like doing his job or having to deal with black female patients. I have never had an experience like that before with any doctor ever.

2022-06-01I found this location to be much better than the 88th street location. We had a very positive experience here. I had to bring my two toddlers, and the staff was very understanding and kind to them. They were efficient and competent. They were able to answer all of my questions right away.

2022-07-25I had to bring my elderly mom to this City MD and am happy to report that all of the employees were respectful, professional and compassionate. The concept of Urgent Care is carried out at the highest level at City MD. Thank you!
