They are full of flavor... Good energy and warm greetings upon entering. TONY & TANZIA (T&T the bomb) made my day. The oxtails are tender and Im in heaven... They have dum dum lollipops and fresh juices. Stop by and try. You wont be disappointed and Im certain.

Went to cnj and ordered fried chicken but wasnt expecting the D&G surprise that came with it. This is disgusting and when i asked for the manager i was told by several people that the manager who was there 10 minutes before was miraculously gone.
I asked for extra gravy and this is what they gave me.. no sauce on meat or nothing... quality was terrible
Very long wait times. Long lines people complaining on the lines. No seating area anymore. Servings very small size in comparison to the amount charged. Check your order before you leave.
If youre there ordering watch your plate because they will leave stuff off and they give you the greasy part of the gravy. They need to learn to stir the gravy before putting it over the rice. Mac Salad very sweet (sugar sweet).

Was very disappointed in the quality of food, they had no Mac and cheese and ran out of veggies. So I ordered Stew chicken with rice n peas. I ain’t never experienced stew chicken that wasn’t cooked correctly and was dry!!! It looked like they added bbq sauce on the stew chicken and even that didn’t help. A real Jamaican needs to be hired IMMEDIATELY!!!!! HELP THEM NOW PLEASE APPLY!!! ABSOLUTELY NO TASTE!!!!

This chain, the brooklyn locations at least, are known for consistently decent food. Some locations have suffered and come out of some bad reputation phases, but the lunch and dinnertime lines are still always long for a reason. Plus, its an open style serving counter, so you can see what theyre serving you and modify on the spot. Mac salad is the popular side choice. Cons..., One register open most of the time, with limited staffing and long lines at times, mobile ordering apps make it even worse.
On Friday July 30th 2021. I entered c&j and joined the line of 8 people. I timed the wait from me joining the line till me receiving my food. 38 minutes and Im not exaggerating. And thats with people leaving the line in disgust. Workers masks were on their chin, a gloveless man walked into the restaurant right to the rice pot and started dishing put rice without handwriting. Anyway as a long time c&j customer, I know its worth the wait. I was wrong. My large oxtail came with 5 peices of oxtail,, each peice of oxtail was burned and so hard you couldnt even chew it. The macaroni salid wasent even tasty and was a very small portion.A couple days passed and my dad told me that hes going to get a stew chicken from there for him and his wife. I warned him. He was so disappointed. He expressed to me that his chicken was burned and hard, and the rice was so spicy with peices of pepper in it that him and his wife couldnt eat it and had to go to the roti place to get a meal after that. Maybe its just utica c&j and the one on queens conduite thats bad now..the flatbush branch has been pretty good. I used to really love this restaurant but the amount of disappointment Ive been having, 4 times in a row, sadly Im going to have to stop going. Im really going to miss this place.
Food taste great... but you only get lil bit of meat with lot of rice n gravy for your moneyI bought a large oxtail for $18 n got only 4 pieces of oxtail with a bunch of rice n gravyI didnt notice until I got home by then too late to turn back around
They have the best macaroni salad and curry chicken. Their curry goat is good too. They are just cheap with the oxtail its not worth buying there. Everywhere else you get more oxtail for your money They count the pieces.
Placed an order for delivery through uber eats. Delivery was on time. Food was horrible. Bbq chicken had ketchup all over it. Rice was not fully cooked. The only edible thing was the macaroni salad which they provided a half of a serving. First time ordering, will not order again. Do not recommend as the customer service was even worst trying to resolve.
Why take my order over the phone then when I get there you tell me you don’t take orders over the phone. I usually use Uber Eats but the option I wanted wasn’t available. West Indian restaurants are the worst. Support local restaurants my behind.
Terrible service. The guy at the counter looks around and talk to other people when you’re ordering and ask you several times what you want. He looks like he doesn’t want to be there. After I told him I wanted white rice he still put in peas and rice even though he said he changed it. I saw it after I got home. The lady that gives the food is so rude to customers and argue with them. How can you treat people that support the business like that ? They’re so disrespectful! I do not recommend!!!!!
The quality of the food has definitely went down since the name change. The amount of food you get is smaller as well. I ordered a small and medium stew chicken before & received the same amount of chicken in both plates ( 2 pieces ) & they barely had meat of them. Also you guys are always out of everything on Ubereats. Not sure if there was a management change or what but please do something about this. It really discouraged me from ordering.
Never eating for here again, placed an Uber eats order, not only did they not send me what I ordered because they didn’t have any more fish left. Some smart person employed at this Utica location decided that rather that call and explain my options, they would just send me food that was packaged earlier in the day and had red meat. One would wonder maybe this guy ordered fish because he doesn’t eat meat!!! Sad..

This store is absolute trash, I would not recommend anybody going and if you do please don’t use your card because they will steal your money. So basically I went there to buy 2 chicken meals and was overcharged by almost $20. Brought it to their attention and it was pretty much they couldn’t refund me my money so I would have to figure it out with my bank. A complete waste. Don’t say I didn’t warn you
This doesn’t even deserve 1 star, but I had to give it a star to write my review. Sunday evening at 7:45pm. The people who work there don’t want to be there so they give you their Dirty attitude as if I can’t go somewhere else. The guy who shares the food had a very feminine attitude and was acting as if we were begging. Bro if you don’t want to be there don’t come to work. This is by far the worst customer service and the food isn’t even that great! Get a grip! Your not going to have many customers left if that guy keeps working there!
I didnt know where the line started. There was no indication. I had to pay for the meal before. The servers of the food were very slow and talkative. Other than than the food was good. The store is clean. I would patronize them again.
The food was bad. I was sad after attempting to eat my food.The wait was long and i wouldnt have minded...if the food made up for it. The shrimp pasta was sweet for some reason, not spicy and had like 6 shrimp in it. The curry coat was the worst Ive tasted, it was salty and just bad overall. 2nd time ordering from ubereats and theyre always forgetting an item. I even put a note. Not to forget item. They still forgot. I called the store and have been on hold for 6 mins. I can hear the person taking multiple orders. They need better management. I visit this marvelous restaurant every couple of days as I like the good air that is outline this restaurant. The team is extremely cordial and well trained. The service is certainly quick. Not to mention, the food they prepare is great. I came more than once and I was never disappointed. The rate is decent. I highly suggest this place to my friends and family.
Terrible service, is the store under new management? Went here to get food instead got a whole lot of attitude. Workers need a lesson in customer service or need a new job. I do not recommend eating here or giving them your money

First time going today and was so disappointed the wait was long. The rice and peas were mush and the curry goat no flavor no spice. Pasta blan I ordered a side of plantains and macaroni salad they mushed it all in one container. Was not worth the money at all
The food is good but the wait time is horrible. The staff needs to be more efficient and customer service friendly. Had to wait ten minutes on line to place my order and literally an additional thirty five minutes to hear that my order of oxtail they dont have any more. If I wanted something else just like that. Wish I could categorize the stars, my two stars goes towards the food.

The rice is terrible. It nuh cook good! Curried goat nice though. The salad portion is very costly for the size. Small is $5. No tomato or sauce! The cashier nuh ave nuh attitude 2day. Thats good.

Always crowded when I visit here, thats because of the macaroni salad. OMG the best in NYC!! Rude cashiers and not very helpful with letting you know whats on the menu, no menus in the place, and they dont except cards - CASH ONLY, what kind of mess is that. Dont ask for extra macaroni salad by itself they will tell you they dont have enough but will give it to you only if you buy a dinner plate.
I’ve ordered from this place in person and each time the food was decent.. however, order from UberEats at your own risk! I gave them several chances to redeem themselves and each time they did not fail to disappoint me. When something’s not missing from the food, the food tastes horrible. I ordered fried chicken with gravy on the rice on two different occasions and it came without gravy. Tonight I ordered two meals with 3 sides and NOT ONE of the sides came with the meals.. I mean why the hell would I pay extra for a side if I didn’t want it. & the nerve of them to share the food out and send it to the customer knowing that it’s incomplete! Oh and let me forget the burnt tasting and “placka placka” rice they sent with it. I’m over this C&J I’ve had better experience with the one on Flatbush.
This place use to be amazing but it just lost its touch. I recently brought some white rice and curry chicken and let me just say it was disgusting. On top of the nasty food its the stinking attitude behind it that makes it even worse. If it wasnt for the macaroni salad I wouldnt buy from here.
I am a regular customer at C&Js restaurant and the food is Lovely! Today has been one of the worse experiences in my life! I didn’t see the regular employees that works at night except the cashier! I went in there at 9:00pm and came out exactly at 10:02pm! I won’t be going back here for a while! The employee called out everyone’s number after mine and took so long to bring my food! THEY NEED TO GET IT TOGETHER!!!!! Get new employees!!

The food here is really great especially the quality meats given in each dishes at lunch and dinner. Meats can be mixed for $1 extra on the price of either medium or large dishes once your order is placed. I tired breakfast once i had liver and it was a sad disappointment it was all ketchup sauce and the liver was hard it had the skin around the edge that if you a true Jamaican you know that should had been removed in the cleaning process of the organ before seasoning and cooking it. Other than that dinner is the only menu preference i recommend trying if you want to spend money here for a great meal. Rice and peas is the best!!

C and J gets 5 starts for food. Fabulous food, oh, and the macaroni salad, so delicious. The wait is annoying and the staff is not very friendly unless you are familiar. They rarely answer their phone when you call and thats a bummer when time is against you and you need food.Over all the food is great. The price is a bonus joy gift 😄
C&Js is an East Flabush staple. The food has been constantly good since I moved here 14 years ago You can have a wait some days most day youre out in a few. Curry Goat, Curry Chicken, Stew this, Ox that,.....It doesnt matter its all good. Definitely worth giving a try!
Food is always on point I travel from Florida all the time for the food now that I live in MD I would def do the same, the wait sometimes can be long but it is worth it never ever had a bad experience and the staff is always friendly.For someone who has been in the Airline and customer service industry this is what customer service means.
A 24hr jamaican spot. I stopped here many times after going clubbing. This is an excellent hidden gem. The food is very flavorful and decent portions for the prices. Large chicken dinner is $9 with rice and 1 side. Fry chicken is the best thing here and the macaroni salad is off the hook.

I really use to loooove this place but they really have fallen off. Incorrect orders, dry chicken, chewy ox tail. Im just so heart broken because this use to be my go to place. Also, make sure you open your containers before you leave chances are they forgot the salad and gave you parts of the chicken you specifically told them you didnt want.

I’m disappointed that 9 outta 10 times they can’t take cards though but they conveniently have an atm in their restaurant for me to withdraw money. So I’m basically there to buy food but I have to buy my own money to buy my food. That’s sad!

Have to be a little more fairer with pricing though....when you order a plate for example .... a plate with all the sides is $10.00....if you are out of any one side/sides...take off a couple of $s man...how can you charge the same price? I do not mind paying for something that I get even if its expensive...it would be worth it because the food is that good...I do not want to pay for something i did not get. If they would be fair in pricing they would have earned 5 stars! I still recommend people though....
Food is delicious but service is terrible. They nag your food without you seeing whats inside and by these time you get home, then youll notice something missing. Staff does not care and tell you theres nothing that can be done.
A friend introduced me to this place, Ive visited on occasion ever since. The food stimulates your taste buds. Their prices have been consistent, and portions are generous.
This is my last time ordering from this place. The first time they forgot sides the second and third time the Mac and cheese was RANCID, the lemonade... I wasn’t sure what I was drinking. It was bad, sour and spoiled. It’s annoying to order food and it’s a big disappointment.

Ordered uber eats from this place. They didnt give the driver the food as the app stated. Tried calling them multiple times. Each time I called they answered the phone and left the phone off the hook while leaving me on the line and taking customer orders at the store. I tried calling about 8 times and for 7 times they did this the hung up. The 8th time the same person who was answering and placing the phone down answered and lied the phone was busy. I have ordered from this place multiple times but this by far the worst I have experienced. They were never courteous to the situation at all and was very rude on the phone. This will be my last time ordering from this place.
The worst service everrrrrrrrrr I went there for pepper shrimp and a juice and I was standing there for 15 mins when I finally said something the guy was so rude and nasty that I requested my money back. I had a worst experience ever today from the attendant who possibly want trained and thinks he’s opinion overides customers. I simply was asking a question about my order and he just canceled and started printing I really could have served him a slap coz the people behind me felt so bad. Went in today Oct 30th. Utica location.This food is known for great taste and flavor. Havent had food from them in a couple of years as I havent lived in canarsie in years as Ive moved to south Brooklyn. But today because Im in that area and was starved my cousin (visiting from Jamaica) and I stopped in as I was praising the food and couldnt wait to get in and dig in. I was disappointed! I ordered goat, cousin ordered fried chicken. Mind youz Im a massive food fan, I travel internationally and locally and critique food, blog, blah blah etc... I must say Ive never been disappointed with their food before and thats where I gave 3 stars because I wont use one bad meal to judge.The goat was filled with fat it wasnt edible, goat should be cleaned and trimmed of all fat, at one point I was questioning if it was lamb or goat meat because of the fat content. mind you it was filled with flavor but to get to that, every bite I took was interrupted by me having to remove the disgusting fat to get through to the goat meat.Rice was perfectly flavored with butter and salt. Macaroni salad was way too sweet but then again most people love this place for just that. work on the Goat meat guys.Cousin ordered what she thought was rice and peas and she asked me sarcastically: A rice and peas dis? hahaha! Didnt bother asking what was wrong but I looked over and peas was nowhere in sight. Other than these things their food is filled with flavor.Sidenote: I actually wanted to try the fried chicken but what always turns me away from Jamaican takeout restaurants is the mere fact that almost all only serves leg and thigh. Not a big fan of thigh for several reasons. I think we should step away from that and start serving other parts of the chicken and not only chicken parts. Loved the flavor just not the fats on my goat, I ate some and threw the rest out. I was truly disappointed.

I am a very picky person when coming to my food but C&J is one of my spots I visit on regular cause the food is very tasty & some will agree the macaroni salad is the bomb, if you work late like I do sometimes its a very popular spot for late night dinners & they usually close at 2am Mon-Sat if food dont run out.
Terrible customer service. I bought a small chicken only for $7. I wanted it 2 cut & was told no bcuz it cant be cut. I said um asking u 2 cut d chicken please. Thats wen they started 2 ignore me & call d other #s around my order. I decided 2 get a refund & d cashier asked if some1 could assist me. I think d lady name was Sharon who was rude enough 2 ask d cashier a wey u a call mi fah?! Thats wen I intervened. I got my chicken cut & Im enjoying it now!! They dont serve ENOUGH MEAT. If you want alot of rice go here. I was a regular customer at this place prior to leaving nyc, recently I took a trip and decided to go straight to c&j. They serve you as IF YOU ARE BEGGING for oxtail. When I told the chef to serve more he declined. Plus they messed up my orders 2 times in one weekend.
So authentic, delicious any day and every day! This is one place that I really hope becomes something that sticks around for years. Long wait and definitely could be a bit more professional, but its what you get with what is basically all home cooking.

Good spot for caribbean cuisine, i dislike the long line though for the food because people tend to get upset its not really effective based on the crowd that shows up here. There are tons of options though and really cheap for what they dish out. Know what you want before you step on the line is kind of the attitude the serving staff has here and make sure you bring cash because every now and then the card machine breaksdown

So i said dont i get that reward paper she said no i said oh yall dont do that no more she said no. So i asked the lady that is serving the food why they dont do it no more she said they still do. Smh bums if she stealing the rewards i can imagine how much money shes taking smh terrible. And I have my whole neighborhood going there but Im about to tell my whole neighborhood to go to the one on Flatbush Avenue and whoever reading this should go to the one on Flatbush. The wait was long as usual. My favorite to get from here is Rice and Peas with Oxtail. The food was good but the rice was spicy, my son was unable to eat it..Be careful next time..
Casually scrolling down uber eats looking for westindian food..came across this restaurant and decided to try it. Foood is incredible!!!! Definitely gonna be ordering from here in the future.. also thanks for the very late closing. Being able to order at 1 am is awesome!.

I never been to a place where you pay $20 for one plate of food that they dont even tell you you can put as much as you want to in it I paid $41 for food that was disgusting I wish I could have got a refund dont waste your time or your money coming here
Macaroni salad is so good. When Im in Brooklyn, C&J is a must stop! The food is delicious , the juices are tasty as well. There is usually a line, however service is good.

Me and my boyfriend were in the mood for oxtail, but the Jamaican spot by our house in park slope closed down. so we traveled all the way to utica(bus and train) for c&j cause i always here people say the food is good. when we got there the cashier was very rude, she was on her phone while taking our order and did not acknowledge me.There was no hello, she just looked at me like what u want. The final straw came when i asked the man who was packing the food for a little more cabbage, he looked me and told me no, you get what u get. im am soo disgusted with the customer service here and will never return, im letting everyone i know to not go there. And the people packing your food do not wear gloves(health code violation) this place needs better management

Well this one is way more professional than the one located on Flatbush and church Ave. I Was Highly Upset with the behavior of the cashiers they are disgusting and rude . This b*tch name Chevelle took my order . And I didnt get the name of the lil fresh one who packed my order ! After they packed my order wrong give me completely the wrong order she want to question what I order ! I had to let her know Im a manager myself and was poor customer service . She caught an attitude while repacking my order and talked over it I was disgusted to my stomach n didnt want it no more . I wont ever go back to the location on Flatbush ave . Horrible service! The cashiers have attitudes the orders take to long to come and my last time was through Uber eats the rice was uncooked the little bit of meat we got was over cooked and our fountain drinks spilled in the bag and to top it off the food wasn’t hot never again will I ever eat from this location
On Friday the 7-24-20 I bought some food from CJ on Utica a oxtail dinner peas and rice and coleslaw but the oxtail was hard I was very disappointed never had this problem before I hope this never happen again
The food and service there is exceptionally great, we need Jamaican restaurant like these in Northern Virginia, anytime Im back in New York this will be my spot for sure.

You would order your food and wait 20 minutes like they have to make the food individually, knowing the food is already cook, why not just give people their food, have people waiting for 20 minutes and then the food comes from the back cold 😑 And the plates are not full. Barely giving any oxtail. Medium oxtail shouldnt have the same amount of oxtail and macaroni salad as a small.

It specializes in authentic Jamaican cuisine and seats are available for dining. Takeout is also available. It is a stones throw from Bobbys Department Store and T-Mobile on the same block. Accessible by the B46 bus and the B35 bus on Church Avenue.
The food is good most of the time my favorite is fry chicken rice & peas with curry mutton gravy macaroni salad 😋

The food used to be good now its one the worst food I had, firstly the rice is constantly TOUGH, the chicken (stew) is always sweet and I mean sweet as in sugar, its like they used sugar to season the food(omg) now today I bought stewpeas and its also sweet (rice tough as usual), Ive wondered if they dont think that because we come to buy we dont know how to cook, i go back (sometimes) hoping itll get better and the price is reasonable but food keep getting worst...especially the Sunrise Hwy branch.. As many of you know I am no stranger to Caribbean restaurants on Flatbush Avenue. When it comes to fast casual spots I consider CJs to be the best on this strip. Thats saying alot because Flatbush Ave probably has more Jamaican spots per mile than any other street in the U.S.The quality of the food is what sets this place apart. These arent new age takes on cairribean dishes. Here you get traditional Jamaican dishes done correctly. My entrée of choice is the oxtail with rice and peas (extra oxtail gravy on the rice)with plantains. This combo is a staple at any Jamaican spot but you would be surprised how often they get it wrong. Not at Cjs, the oxtail is always lean and tender, the rice has that perfect texture and the plantains are never taste like theyve been sitting out for two days. The seasoning is always just right and the portion is more than sufficient for the price. For about $10 I get a container full of delectable oxtails and rice.5 stars for CJs on Flatbush They consistently offer a flawless version of my favorite Jamaican dish. Their staff is always respectful and efficient. And they are open late which earns them extra points in my book.
My mom got me a small jerk today and I was speechless to see the amout of chicken they put in there.... it doesnt even look like jerk... smfh. I mean who in their right mind would serve this to someone. If I was there or lived close by i would have returned that mess.

Looks dreary and uninviting. No greetings. Took my coworker there he said the oxtail dinner was okay. A few of the staff were not wearing the regulatory mask but who knows what goes on in the kitchen anyway right?

2022-02-06The food is great. However the prices recently went up for some items. Expect a wait when you come, but it is worth it. The restaurant’s biggest problem is shortage of food. It has been a regular occurrence the past 2 years that you will go and they are out of oxtail, or macaroni salad, or rice & peas. They know these are very high demand items, how do you run out? The prices went up but they are still running out of popular menu choices. Very disappointed with the availability on my last few visits.

2022-02-10I ordered from Uber eats it was on time but food was too cold , the chicken was good but the gravy over the rice and chicken too spicy , the rice and peas no flavor. I couldn’t really enjoy the flavor besides since the food was cold and spicy I am very disappointed. The vegetables 😢 cabbage, carrots, tomato 1 slice amount too small also was plain/ bland. .

It shows a lack of respect for customers when constantly popular items are not available. As a business open for several years they should be able to tell how much they need to make for the day. 2022-05-07Idk wat to say about this spot. The food use to be really good,, but lately theyve been falling off. Today is May 7th 2022 and im writing this review because last night my girlfriend decided to surprise me with takeout from this spot. Well im a just say this the food was nasty. The rasta pasta had a funny taste and smell and it made the both of us sick. We were both throwing up and using the bathroom the entire night... Needless to say they wont ever have to worry about us spending money there again!!!!

2021-04-24I haven’t had the food in months and decided to give it a try : 2 medium fry, 2 veggie tarry peanut punch and a pepper shrimp = $39.However, the quality has definitely changed : my fry chicken was burnt but, I remove the skin so that I could pass that.On the other hand, the pepper shrimp really smells and taste horrible. I could not eat it and would be liking a refund. I called the restaurant twice once I got home but the lines are busy (enter remote access code ).I will be bringing it back at my earliest convenience.

2022-06-26I visited Brooklyn after 5 years. I went into this restaurant saw I sign by the cashier that says order here so I went up and place my order. When the cashier rudely said “ Did u see it when you came in”? I followed instructions to the sign that say order here I didn’t know I had to look for the food.… she sent me to look for the food I didn’t see it so I told her no. She said if u nuh see it we nuh have it . JESUS why couldn’t you just say you don’t have IT from the beginning Instead of doing all the extra antics. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE !!!!

And I noticed how cheap they are with the food I brought a stew chicken large and they gave me a whole bunch of rice and a one piece of meat with very little gravy just horrible and the workers are not pleasant they always have the screw face on they need to step their employee customer service game up nobody wants to walk into a restaurant with bad energy and thats what I got mostly everytime I went the food is great but the workers with big attitude is a no go and the bigger questions is WHY YOU MAD..... 2019-05-21C& J provides great food, dollar for dollar. However, they need to work on there order fulfilment. If you dont catch it at the counter, forget about returning it. I dont know how that work with delivery service. Its great food and you wont regret spending your hardd earn money here. Just as to see the food before they close it up and bag it.
