I unfortunately was in need of a place for my wife’s funeral services. Mr. Hammer and his staff at Boyd-Caratozzolo treated me with kindness and made the worst time of my life slightly more bearable. They handled the entire process from beginning to end so all we had to do was handle my grief and mourn with my family. This is where you want to be if you must say goodbye to a loved one.
I can express only gratitude for the friendly and professional way I was treated during the services for my mother. The staff was so attentive and professional, I regret I didn’t get more names. I would like to especially thank Peter for his kind words and insights, he gave a very personal touch, and it made all the difference.Bob B
We recently went thru a devastating situation with our first unborn child just a few weeks ago and we called in yesterday looking for quotes/options and to get more details on the process since this was a first for both of us. We were treated nicely and with compassion by those who answered and eventually was referred to James H for a follow up call to further discuss. He started off with sincerity expressing condolences, then running thru some of the process, and quotes. Eventually, we requested to schedule an in-person appointment to help walk us thru and discuss the process further and possibly look at urns on display. Considering our work schedules, we were requesting if they could be flexible for an appointment after 5PM. His response to us then took us by surprise when he said, Look we are doing this next to nothing, so youre going to have to work with us. I was taken aback by that and it seemed like he just wanted to get us off the phone so we just quickly agreed to meet with someone the next day (today) at 12PM. My wife and I discussed this right after hanging up and we were both just in shock with what we just heard and it really felt insensitive and downright rude how we were treated over the phone. We called another nearby funeral home and their treatment of us was the complete opposite which was exactly what we felt we deserved as we are still going thru this difficult situation every day, physically, and mentally. Eventually, I replied back to James confirmation email about todays scheduled appointment but requesting to cancel our appointment and respectfully wrote to him why. In hindsight it was quite shocking with all the good reviews that this ended up happening to us and you would think compassion and empathy would be of utmost importance to any customer calling in. But it just goes to show that not every one goes thru the same good experience that others write about.
The entire staff was kind, patient, and very helpful while my family and I planned for my mom’s services. Each person took their time to thoroughly explain all options and gave us the necessary time to make decisions. We felt a sense of calm while going through this process because we trusted that we were in the best hands. Every detail was handled in a professional manner and was perfect. I appreciate the contact after the funeral to offer bereavement support.
My experience with Claude R. Boyd-Caratozzolo Funeral Home was wonderful. Molly Burns was my Funeral Director and she was very caring and compassionate through the whole process. The rest of the staff were very helpful. Everything was as expected and my loved one was treated with dignity and respect. Anything I wanted changed was taken care of right away. I would recommend them to anyone. People that came said everything was perfect.
James Caratozzolo helped my two brothers and I after our Mom had passed away. He was extremely helpful with all of our needs at such a difficult time. He went over all of our options and respected our choices without any pressure to sell us anything more than what we wanted. Everything was handled with absolute professionalism and courtesy. He made a stressful time easier on us all.The funeral home is lovely and immaculately clean. Everyone that we spoke with and dealt with were very helpful and so kind. My brothers and I would definitely recommend this funeral home for your needs concerning your loved one.
We were very impressed with the service that we received at Claude R. Boyd-Caratozzolo Funeral Home. My deceased, mother-in-law looked very good (peaceful). Her skin and hair looked excellent. You did an excellent job. The staff was very compassionate and helped us to go through a difficult time.We were so pleased with the service that we received, that we have decided to proceed with a funeral plan for us. (Myself and my wife). It was a pleasure to work with you.
My family and I worked with Molly Jane Burns, Assistant Manager, at Boyd-Caratozzolo Funeral Home for my fathers arrangements in July 2019.Molly was the bright spot in an otherwise very difficult and emotional process --- she was professional, knowledgeable, warm, caring and proactive. She was always available to help, answer questions, and most of all, make my experience in arranging the services, memorial, and burial as seamless and easy as possible - which was an incredible relief.I HIGHLY recommend Molly Burns --- and her team at Boyd-Caratozzolo - as her partnership took a great burden and stress off our shoulders and allowed us to be with family and friends as much as possible during that time.
I recently lost my 93 year old father. The staff at Boyd Caratozzolo could not have been more wonderful. Funeral director Frank Pasquale attended to all of our needs in a compassionate and caring manner. I am very grateful for his assistance in making everything go smoothly. It was the perfect tribute to my Dad.
I want to Thank all the people connected with my Mothers funeral arrangements. She looked beautiful. The employees were wonderful & very helpful, & compassionate to our feelings. I never thought I would ever pick a Family Funeral Home, but Boyd-Caratozzolo will be it. I hope & pray I dont have to use them again anytime soon, but I couldnt have asked for anything better than what they provided. I had many questions & each time I was greeted with a friendly smile & not one time did anyone discount my concerns. Courteous, professional & very caring. Even a few weeks later they are still calling & offering me bereavement counselling. Losing a Mother or any family member is very hard & it is nice to know there are people who put the Family first while grieving. They went above & beyond. I would recommend this Funeral Home 100 times over. We did a pre-planned funeral since we knew my Mother was very ill. Joe helped us set everything up, no pressure on anything. He gave us the time & space to pick out exactly what we wanted for our Mother. I wanted a place that was light & friendly just like my Mom was. The moment I stepped through their doors I knew this would be the place. They listened to all our concerns from Hair to Make-up to affordability. I cant Thank the people here enough.
I would recommend this funeral home as a first choice! 4 yrs ago I used their services to bury my Mother and used them again for my Father who is a US Army Veteran on 3/11/21. The exemplary service I received from the staff, especially James Hammer was overwhelming. The attention to detail for even the smallest things was outstanding!!
We recently prepaid for what will eventually happen to all of us and we had the pleasure of meeting with Joseph Vanella. While this type of discussion is NEVER a want to do, Joseph made it as comfortable and as casual as I imagine it could ever be using the Dignity Program. No question was too silly or too much. He was attentive, responsive and more important, informative. We used the payment plan which was easy to set up. We spent time in the funeral home itself, had all our questions answered and walked out of there knowing my children are now relieved of any pressure and monetary responsibilities when the time comes.
James Hammer and his team were exceptional in every area of their business. Their guidance in taking you through every aspect of the process from beginning to end made a very stressful situation so much more manageable. Very nice people to work with!A special thank you to the cosmetologist who prepared my mom. She looked exactly how she could have looked in her later years if she had remained healthy. I still cannot believe the quality of work that was done. Nothing short of amazing.
The past year I have watched relatives and friends have to scramble to arrange and pay for a situation that will eventually happen to all of us. After doing some research we discovered a prepay program under the Dignity Program. Made a few calls and connected with Joseph Vanella. I could not have asked for a better experience on a challenging subject. Joseph was able to make it relaxed and casual and was a wealth of information and support. His demeanor made a rough situation actually enjoyable. We signed up there after spending time with Joseph, we used the payment plan and I actually felt a subconscious weight lifted off my shoulders. THAT in itself was worth the price of admission. Would HIGHLY recommend.
James Caratozzolo and his staff in Deer Park were able to get my family through this difficult time. The whole experience was a blur and every detail was explained and delivered perfectly. They took care of the little things that brought everything together. From the moment we walked in the building we saw my grandfathers face, it was so professionally done with all the television screens and personal touches on the guest registry and many people commented on how special this was. The facility was immaculate and the chapel was very comfortable, beautiful and modern even with the COVID restrictions in place.I loved the fact that our meal between the visiting hours did not require us to go anywhere or think about anything in such a small timeframe with no rushing or ordering that you would normally do in a restaurant. The professionalism and guidance we received without pressure was second to none and we would recommend Mr. Caratozzolo and his staff to anyone at the highest level.
To say that our family is grateful and appreciative of the amazing way in which Mr. James Caratozzolo and his staff handled our beloved mothers wake and funeral can not be overstated. Mr. Caratozzolo demonstrated sincere empathy at this most delicate time and exceeded our expectations in every way possible. Although our family presented Mr. Caratozzolo with some unusual and difficult requests, we were amazed at the wonderful way he and his staff came through for us. It was evident that they are true professionals and that they could not have done any better had it been their own loved one. Our family will never forget the kind and gentle manner in which this final farewell to our mother was handled and would recommend no one else to families in their hour of need.Sincerely,The Balestrieri & Rivera families
Back in October, they handled my fathers arrangements with the utmost care and sensitivity. We decided plan ahead and to make use of Preplan for my moms final arrangements, and again, were treated with warmth, care and respect. These meetings have moments of tremendous emotion, and we NEVER felt vulnerable or uncomfortable when dealing with the professionals at Boyd-Caratozzollo Funeral Home.
Although this is a time no one ever looks forward to, the staff at Claude R. Boyd - Caratozzolo Funeral Home were excellent! They were always ready to make accommodations for us to make things go well and to make us feel like Family! We highly recommend these professionals!
I highly recommend The Boyd- Caratozzolo funeral/ specialized services. James is very professional and focused on the individual’s needs. The boys characters although funeral home has been in our neighborhood For many years. That being said, Most of us who live here in Deer Park have been at that place of business more times than not. The atmosphere is always pleasant, clean and the professionals who work there are extremely courteous and sensitive to everyone’s needs.
Boyd-Caratozzolo Funeral Home provided professional, compassionate service with our recent loss. I was a bit lost in the final arrangements process. Molly helped guide me through the process. All staff that I worked with including James and Pete were very helpful. In the end the Funeral Home really helped me out with this sad and difficult situation. Thanks.
I would give zero stars if possible. Incompetent from start to finish. Beginning with an $800 omission on the initial invoice, it was a nightmare of an experience. I was supposed to identify my mothers body at the grave site. The funeral director I met with at the funeral home did not relay the information to his representative at the cemetery and he was proceeding as if it were a Covid19 case, which it was not. Had I not stopped the proceedings the casket would have been placed in the grave. When I identified her, they hadnt bothered to change her into the clothes I had brought to the funeral home. The representative at the grave site said he had no idea I was supposed to identify the body. To add insult to injury, they made an error on the death certificate so Im now delayed another two weeks in taking care of my mothers affairs. Later in the day I spoke with the original director who apologized and offered a to send a check for my inconvenience. Avoid them at all costs.
While going through the loss of a loved one, it can be quite difficult to think straight. The compassionate assistance of the staff at Boyd-Caratozzolo certainly eased that burden! They helped us through every step of the process...from the viewings to church arrangements to the funeral. My mother looked absolutely beautiful upon viewing, and the tribute video they created with the dozens of photos we submitted shared precious memories of mom, from ages 17 to 95, as it played on loop during the viewings. They also provided an obituary web page with all of the individual photos and the tribute video, to share with those who could not make the journey to say goodbye in person. In addition, they provide grief counseling for those who need it. The services Boyd-Caratozzolo provided for us felt like a huge, comforting hug at a time of great sorrow!
In 1973 you helped us with my sisters passing, my mothers passing in 2016 and now my father in 2019. Your staff provided comfort, answers and most importantly compassion. Frank was there every step of the way providing solutions before the problems arose. Molly handled all the arrangements flawlessly . My family could not thank the entire staff enough for all the small but important things they did for us.
All in all the experience with my mothers wake and funeral was ok. Caring people. One thing did make a really heart wrenching situation worse. The embalming of my mother was not good. They did not use the photo her face that I supplied. And the makeup was poorly done. Her hair should have been cut as per the picture supplied. Her mouth was so stretched it made her look terrible. Everyone who came asked me if I was sure that wasn’t my mother. A friend who is a funeral director in another county expressed disbelief at the job done. He said he knew who did the makeup because he knew her work. He Said she was just a cosmetologist and not certified. My mother did not look anything like the photo. I’m sorry but you need to get a better person to do the make up and your embalmers need a refresher course. Of course you reimbursed us but I feel that the agony and mental anguish at seeing my mother like that was terrible and the pittance reimbursed was a slap in my face. I should have listened to other funeral directors that told me to go to manganos. I should have listened to them
During this time of quarantine and COVID 19 and social distancing they did everything possible for our family. Molly was kind, compassionate and very available to us. At times like this you want to be serviced by professionals who really care for your family. Thank you to Molly and the entire staff.MaryAnn Breunig
Very disappointed that I was conned to think that this guy was the Caratozzolas from Deer Park. I walk in to make arrangements with Anthony or Donnie and this “cousin “ said that they are out of the office and brings me into an office to show me packages. Sold me on a veteran package with food. At the wake I asked the lady at the door for Anthony or Donnie and she said that they don’t work there anymore and that this guy isn’t even a cousin. I am very disappointed, I wish I knew this because I would have never stayed there. Very upset with how my grandfather looked and there was a mess up with the flowers.
My name is Doug Zeis and I am the son of the deceased Roy Zeis and on behalf of my mom, sister and my entire family I would like to say that you guys hit it out of the park, with your kindness and sincerity you helped get through a difficult time, everybody that was involved could not have been more kind, professional and courteous so I guess all I can say from the bottom of my heart is THANK YOU 😇

2022-01-10I would like to start off by saying how amazing James Caratozzolo is. We came in to plan my young nieces service after losing her unexpectedly. To say we were lost is an understatement. James made the whole process as painless as possible under the circumstances. There were so many unexpected personal touches that he made which was very much appreciated by my sister and the family. He handled my many many phone calls and questions with kindness and professionalism and any changes without hesitation. The entire staff was attentive, and amazing, especially Pat, and made this tragic time in our lives as smooth as possible. I would highly recommend Boyd - Caratozzolo to handle the details of your funeral services.

2022-05-25The entire process was handled with exceptional care. Jaime and his staff were very detail oriented and had the utmost respect of our wishes. We asked to have a few items placed with our loved one and the were displayed beautifully with her. The guestbook had pictures on every page, we thought that was a special extra touch. Also the personalized grief counseling cards that were displayed for the family were an additional much appreciated gesture. The high level of service made a very hard time just a bit easier. We were confident that we made the right decision choosing Boyd-Caratozzola and we highly recommend to anyone.

2022-04-20They were extremely helpful. My Mother lived in Arizona, near me but wanted to be buried on Long Island, where she lived for 50 years, near her family. It was hard planning a funeral long distance but they took care of everything and Mom had a wonderful funeral. They arranged the plot near her relatives and it couldnt have been better. My siblings and I were very pleased the Boyd-Caratozzolo Funeral Home made it so easy to honor Moms last request.

2022-04-02The staff was very sympathetic and caring throughout the process. Starting with some preplanning while dad was in home hospice through his death and services, Joe and Frank really listened and help make a fitting tribute that truly reflected the man dad was. They really cared for and watched over mom through this difficult process.
