Clove in other cities:
Great great customer service! Great food esp the biryani, samosas (not pictured). The salmon was delicious l tell you! Been here about three times now and its always pleasant. I love all the food. The only thing Im not a fan of is the Chicken tikka sauce ( pictured in the middle sweeter than l would like)Other than that, worth going to. Great herbal tea and ice tea as well (brewed in-house). Cherry on top is that the prices are fair. Enjoy.
We ordered on Uber Eats (chicken tikka masala and chicken kurma) and it was the most flavorless Indian food wed ever tried. Even the naan was bland and rubbery. Im usually not the type of person to waste food, even if its just average, but I genuinely could not eat the leftovers I had the next day because it was so unappetizing.
Some of the tastiest Indian food Ive had in a while! The restaurants is super cute, and offers brunch and happy hour drink specials. My husband and I are here for a late night dinner and our waiter was extremely friendly, answered all our questions and gave DETAILED menu recommendations. He seemed to genuinely care about delivering the best dining experience and making sure we felt welcome so that we would come back. Well it worked; were definitely going back!
So I decide to try this place and it was the worst mistake of my life. I arrived at 9:00pm and at 9:50 I finally got a cup of soup and my drink both of these was horrible. THE Soup was cold and the drinks taste as if they was watching tv and following those instructionsI order my main Course at 9:51 and here it’s 10:45 and I’m about to pass out from being hungryThe staff is nasty and they definitely need to work on this placeI’ll never returnDONT GO HUNGRYDONT GO AT ALL
Amazing food!! Specially the shrimp if you love spicy food youll definitely love this one just amazing mouthwatering desi food, and the lemonade had an amazing twist to it with some sort of masala that they added Im guessing but both shrimps were lovely and as amazing as they can get
The service was beyond and above! The Waiter was very informative in regards to the preparation of the food and the spices used. Very respectful, and great rapport with clients. He made suggestions for us that were on target. My second experience at this excellent place and always consistent service. We were gathered to celebrate a birthday and our gracious Waiter gifted a deliciously Chocolate slice cake! What service! Will be coming by more frequently, for the service and food!
I like clove for its authentic indian taste, and lunch buffet at the sweet price of 9.99. Good and healthy lunch option for students in the harlem area. However, tried something new. The clove special of vegetable thali came with rice, naan, papadum, and two vegetable entree for $15.99. It is a great option for those who might consider trying out dishes in the menu that are not available in buffet. I enjoyed my thali a lot.
I’m a local and I enjoy having dinner at Clove. I try to eat here at least once a week. I usually order the chicken or beef samosa and the chicken tikka masala. Everything is delicious and the staff is friendly, which is important to me. It’s refreshing to enjoy dinner just a few blocks from home instead of having to travel downtown.I’d recommend them to everyone!
Mango lassi is good. Samosa is ok. Naan is soft. Here comes the disappointment. Chicken tikka masala, not even close to real good taste of Indian chicken tikka masala. Lamb biryani, please don’t try. I lived for more than 10 years in Hyderabad and Delhi. I know and enjoy real taste of the rice and meat in flavor in that. These are the things I ate and what I felt.
👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼This used to be my go-to restaurant. But the food and customer service just isnt there anymore. Ive had issues with my order being incorrect at least three times now. And it doesnt help that the staff is now a bit inept. Also the food isnt as good as it used to be. Every dish I order now is pretty watered down and lacks flavor. Sadly I wont be ordering from here any longer since there are much better and cheaper Indian restaurants in the neighborhood. What a pity!
Cant say much yet since we made a quick drop in before a show nearby. I had the beef biriyani, medium spice. Still a bit on the spicy side which is fine with me, reminds me Im alive. Did order a mango lassi to extinguish the heat after, it was fine but lacked tang, just all sweet. I definitely would travel from Brooklyn all the way to Harlem to try them again. Friendly staff. Service was quick but I think it was cause it wasnt dinner time yet. I love having a bunch of good Indian places to choose from, and this place made it to my list. Try them.kripyā bhojan kā ānnaṅd lijīyai!
Started as my wifes favorite Indian restaurant in the North Harlem, now it is our go-to place when we want to have a delicious meal but want to stay in the neighborhood. Service is amazing, food is comforting and super tasty! The all-you-can-eat option is no longer offered due to COVID-19, but the place is clean, enough space between tables, and have a outdoor seating area.
This restaurant serves some horrible food. Everything I ordered was disgusting the tandoori chicken was hard and chewy it smelled as though it was rotten. The biryani was disgusting too it smelled even the sauces that they had sent with the tandoori chicken were smelling so bad as though they don’t even check before sending order. Also when I called the manager he said that he cooked everything fresh but it was not fresh at all their food was stale and awful. Even the desert that I ordered was disgusting and smelled bad I had to garbage the food. They don’t even deserve one star. No quality at all and disgusting food.
Came here last night with my mom for the first time. What can i say, the food and service was absolutely amazing. the host was so kind to us and made super helpful suggestions. (highly recommend the chicken tikka masala with peanut sauce!) we ended up staying there a little late talking and the host really made us feel like we were at home. i would give this place 10 stars if i could. i will definitely be back!
Some of the most delicious Indian food in the city and the people are really friendly. My family came into town and they all have different food allergies, the chef came out and spoke to us himself about what he puts in each dish. We felt very well taken care of and the portions were very generous and affordable. I now order takeout from Clove every chance I get.
Fabulous Indian food in the beautiful Hamilton Heights neighborhood. The naan bread is crispy outside, perfectly soft inside and the Tandoori Salmon is great every time. Personalized service, Habib (manager) will not let you go underserved! The Alexander Hamilton house is just around the corner for an after dinner stroll with countless fireflies at dusk.
Been dining here for years, mostly on Sundays with my family. Love, love, love this restaurant! My veagan young adult son has as many options as the rest of the family. Food is so fresh and tasty. NEVER DISAPPOINTED! Staff is so warm and friendly; make you feel like family. They have brunch options, happy hour and a lunch buffet. First restaurant I am RUNNING to when dine-in restrictions are lifted!!!!
I just finished eating brunch here and wow was it not only satisfactory but very filling ! Not only are their prices super affordable but they’re also super hospitable especially Habib !!!!! They treat you with so much respect here, the customer service as well as the food is SPECTACULAR ! I had the toondori wings with the masala fries and a lychee martini and it all came out to be $33! Loved it here can’t wait to come back and try more stuff out !
One of the better Indian eats uptown. The owner is friendly and personable. They have a well seasoned all you can eat bar when avail. 🥘Street side dining weather permitting. Try the Clove tea. Its delicious!🥃. This is a great place for Indian food lovers who dont care to leave the comfort of uptown to venture downtown.
Ive been coming here for a couple years now and it is one of the best Indian places uptown. The portion sizes are great for 2 people, and the quality exceeds my expectations. The service for me has always been top notch, they have always catered to every need. It is so worth the price that they ask, and they are a great addition to the neighborhood.
I have loved this indian restaurant since I was introduced to it 6 years ago. They have great lunch buffet and dinner is always great and affordable as well. Although I no longer live nearby I always find time throughout the year to come eat at this restaurant with visiting friends and family. The food is always delicious with great portion sizes and the staff provide excellent customer service. One of my favorite places to eat in the city.
Its good having such a nice Indian place in the neighborhood, to add to the variety in the area. Very friendly and attentive staff and enjoyable food . I love the Samosas served in the All you can eat buffet lunch. They get the contrasting textures perfectly here. I was relieved to see another guy fill his plate with Samosas and to know it wasnt just me who did that. He told me that those Samosas are popular. The Iced Tamarind Tea that comes with the lunch buffet is a welcome difference from other Indian places.
I love this place so much. Their Madras lamb is so good. Definitely get that dish if youre into spicy food. And it can definitely feed two people with one dish unless you eat a lot Lol and the people there are super sweet and funny. Even the cook comes out to ask if the food is good. Like am I in heaven?
Good food, reasonable prices on the lunch buffet, will let you eat but will also continually offer to remove your plates with food still on them. More healthful than the cart foods, but more expensive too. Small restaurant but theres enough space to be comfortable. Not a huge selection so you should be willing to get up a few times.
The food and service was exceptional. The chef came out to meet my friend and I and was extremely warm. The meat was tender and I truly enjoyed the experience! Will definitely be coming back and recommending to friends! Make sure to try the chicken and veggie samosas.
Just the kind of place our neighborhood and the CCNY community needed. I make it a point to go at least once a week. The staff is great, and the food is always delicious. The lunch buffet is great, with a varying array of foods, with samosas being the standouts for me! Like that theres always a vegetarian option thats as delicious if not more so than the meats offered.
Giving this place 4 stars mostly because of the ambience and service. The minute we walked in we were greeted and sat down immediately. Servers were very professional and attentive. I ordered the samosas which tasted very good, but was highly disappointed with the main course. Ive had chicken tikka masala at many Indian restaurants and never had this dish taste so bland before. There was literally no salt and i had to add quite a few dashes to enhance the flavor. This was quite disappointing and im not sure if it was a different chef that night due to all of the positive reviews stating the food being delicious, but i definitely expected to eat a savory dish.
I have been to clove for a couple of years now.The food is great and they will accomadate your foods spicyness. Also the buffet is a value that cannot be beat. Everyday the buffet has different items and all the dishes and appetizers are delicious. Lastly the owner and the workers are delightful, charming, and attentive
My family and I come here and also order from here A lot! We love them. We love the Decor, owners and their families and especially the food of course. Everything tastes great to us. We have been waiting for this place to open up for a while now and now that it has i wish i wasnt working as far from this place as i am right now because i would literally be eating lunch here almost everyday. Their breads are amazing, their sauces are great, samosas are awesome and their tea is delicious. Great addition to the neighborhood and Kid friendly which i love and appreciate!See you soon Clove!
This Indian restaurant is located strategically opposite the City College of N.Y. entrance on Amsterdam. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. We were a party of 7 (4 adults and 3 kids) and we were dealing with hungry kids following the end of a graduation ceremony at CCNY. Once we were seated, we were given water and tamarind juice to refresh our palates and invited to join the buffet and serve ourselves. The buffet had a lot of variety, but not too much to feel overwhelmed, and the food tasted so good. The ambience in this place is perfect for date night, hanging out with friends or just celebrating. I loved the exposed brick wall and the ceiling within the restaurant. The customer service was awesome - staff were professional and courteous. I definitely look forward to going back soon!!!
If you like/love food! STOP HERE!!! I hit the buffet and scored an amazing lunch!!! Staff is friendly and helpful, even the chef came past to assist me with filling my TAKEOUT plate!!! The best part the food was delicious 😋!!!! Thanks Clove for making me such a experience.
I ordered Nov 22. Food taste was okay, however some chicken pieces had a very strange chewy texture. The next day, I got a heavy infection. Normally, my stomach is very robust and my last food poisoning happened about 10 years ago. Now, I am reading that other customers of Clove also report food poisoning during the last week... Maybe it was a just unique contamination at Clove. But I wont take the risk. Definitely never again!
I just finished my take out dinner, and it was delicious! I got a tandoori dinner for one: switched tandoori to chicken & veggies curry, veggie samosa, cheese naan, lentil soup and mango ice cream. The food was fantastic, loved every one of the dishes. I wish I had more time to dine in-the place looked really nice, may be next time. Overall, give five stars, keep up the good job!
Clove was actually my first Indian restaurant and I’m a total convert! My boyfriend and I came here and had a wonderful time. The place was quiet and intimate and our server was so helpful in recommending the best and most authentic dishes!I’m already craving it again. We will be back!
The all you can each brunch here is our absolute favorite. The staff is amazing and will get you seated with the tea (sweet, def has clove in it!). From there you can pile up on samosas, rice, two veggie dishes, and two meat dishes. There is also rice pudding. They don’t rush you which is great, but beware of the CUNY lunch crowd!
The service ruins everything about this place. I’ll start off by speaking very well about the food, as it is important that if you want good Indian food, you should know you won’t be disspaointed. However, our experience here was, by far, the absolute rudest I have ever experienced in the service industry. My friend brought us here for the food, we are not locals and could have gone anywhere. We were seated outside and and our server went through the menu with us very thoroughly. We placed our order; 2 appetizers, 3 alcoholic brevags, and 3 entrees. Our server was very awkward, but friendly. After we got our food he disappeared immediately, we didn’t even get refills on our drinks. After a while, he returns to pick up our table. THIS IS WHERE THINGS TURN...After finishing our food, we saw a sign that mentioned a buffet until 4pm; we ordered our food at 3pm. We mentioned to the server that we wish he would have told us about the buffet as it included free alcoholic drinks and a variety Of options (including someone of the food we ordered). HIS RESPONSE, “well, why do I have to tell you, there’s a sign, that’s what’s signs are for” We were taken away, as we were not rude, just explaining we wish we would have known. The best part of this is when he goes even further to tell us how amazing the buffet is and that it would have been a better deal, but we should have read the sign. We asked to speak to the owner, who told is THE EXACT SAME THING. For the record, we know very well he wasn’t the owner, but the son of the owner acting as the owner, but we didn’t want to pursue this any further. We paid our bill and left, never coming back. HORRIFIC SERVICE OUTWEIGHS AMAZING FOOD.
The restaurant has a great vibe and decor. My personal taste test for all Indian restaurants is the samosa. In my experience, if you can nail the samosa, the rest of the menu is usually on point too. So, I came in and tried and the appetizer sampler. The taste was there in the stuffing but the samosa crust could afford to be a bit more flakier and less doughy. Their sauces were on point though. Hope to see this restaurant grow and succeed.
This place is perfect. This was my first time at an Indian restaurant and Anil was kind enough to thoroughly explain many of the dishes on the menu. The food was served fast, hot and most importantly, delicious! The chef came out and asked us how everything was and told us if we needed anything just let him know. The best service Ive ever received in NYC. Its apparent this customer service is consistent, given the amount of repeat customers who were greeted with a warm familiar welcome. Their signature iced tea was delicious and I dont even like iced tea. The chicken samosa and chicken Tikka masala were delectible and my boyfriend loved his curry chicken. Anil and his wife are wonderful. Let me not forget how reasonably priced everything was. $33 for two appetizers and two entrees. We will definitely be going back and ordering take out.
I order for pick up.The Goat Curry (vindaloo) was very hard chewy meat and didnt taste good. I order mild spice, and come very spicy. That is the dish that I like the most in another Indian places. Was so disappointed ☹️Aloo Chole grams I order light mild spice, it come spicy.Everything else was still warm except rice.Rice was cold and hard, like from previous day!!!I order Basmati rice, that was not what they get!!!!Only thing that was grate wasSahina (!!!) end only thing that we eat. Everything else we threw in the garbage.Service was OK. They need some eye contact and smile!
My first time visiting Clove was very pleasant. I passed by a numerous number of times, but once I entered the resturant, the gloomy rainy day melted away. The atmosphere is calming and the food delicious. The staff are wonderful and courteous. If you havent been but are in the area you should swing by.
Very friendly staff with a very cozy environment. As a paki the food is A++ and as a student the lunch buffet is super duper affordable. The (sp)ice tea is very delicious And so is the chicken. Its handicap accessible so get yo retarded ass in here and get you some good Indian.
It was raining today, and I called in for delivery, and was told that they would not deliver because there was a $10 minimum. I went to pick up mu food, and found that the actual cost was $11, which means I should have got free delivery. I am from India, and I can tell you that this is not Indian food. I will not visit this establishment again.
Just enjoyed a wonderful evening at Clove. I was researching Indian restaurants around my area and came across this place! The service was fantastic and so was my waiter. This friendly man was very helpful when describing each dish. So lets get started!First, I started with the tandoori chicken wings as my appetizer...they were super yummy...especially with the raita (cucumber/yogurt sauce). Next, I had the chicken tikka masala...this was one of the best Ive had. Perfect balance of cream and tomato mix to the sauce and it wasnt overly spicy, (like other kinds Ive had). The chicken was really tender and the rice was seasoned just right. I also had their garlic naan. Words cannot describe how amazing this bread was! It was soft and yet it had a little crunch. Not overly garlicky...and had a sweet taste as well. My taste buds were overwhelmed with all the flavors! Last, I had 2 of their deserts listed. Rasmalai was the first one. I was interested in it because it said it was a cheese ball served with a sweet sauce. The texture was really different...in a good way! The sauce went great with them. The firni was the last thing I tasted from this excellent restaurant. Im a big fan of rice pudding and this one was definitely one of my top favorites! The little sprinkle of coconut shavings on top, really pulled it together with the creamy cinnamon flavors.Overall, I enjoyed my meal and service at Clove...Ill definitely go back!!
We enjoyed the food very much, unfortunately all three of us were struck down with severe food poisoning the very next day. Since we all live in separate places and all were hit with the illness the same time and that was our only common meal, we knew for a fact that this was the source. We are still not well 3 days later. Sorry to say that we will never be back and wouldn’t not even give one star if I could.
I went for a lunch buffet. It was average food. Nothing special. So I went back to try their regular menu. I ordered Paneer Makhani. It was the most horrible Indian food Ive ever had. Basically, paneer (Indian cottage cheese) cubes were dipped in sugary water with tamarind flavor. The dish was so sweet, I couldnt taste anything. Its supposed to be creamy, but there was no cream in it whatsoever. Also, I dont think the chef has any idea whatsoever how to make the dish. Im never going back again. Really bad quality of Indian food! Im Indian and Ive never had so bad food before. What a waste of my $18! I ordered garlic naan as well, which was okay. I dont know who these majority of guests are but I dont think Im going back. Not interested in having sugary syrup again.
We ordered delivery. 3 nonveg, 4 veg, 2 appetizers, various breadsThe delivery arrived on the dot, and the food was hot -- that is where we give some starsUnfortunately, we could not get excited about any of the dishes or the sauces. We had ordered the dishes medium hot except one hot. The spice level (heat) was there, but the food itself was tasteless, almost as if the food sits there cooked and then you add the spices at the end and off you go.The breads were hot (good), but the Naans, parathas and pooris were all tough and difficult to cut. Not sure why.Chicken tikka dryShrimp do payyazi was hard to describe -- did not taste freshOkra -- not what I expected -- was wet not stir or skillet frysaag paneer - very bland = tastelesskobi aloo matar == some peas were like stones - hard partially cooked; cauliflower was there -but very small florets and not much of themchana masaala = ok but not greatbanana pakora = ended up being left after a bite on almost all platessahani -- this was a new one for us - had some flavordal poori - and coconut poori -- were tough but also tasted of either old oil or some oil we are not familiar withWe were excited that there was a new Indian restaurant in our neighborhood, but regret that we will most likely not try it again. It could be that this is just a completely different style of India than we know or expect and that explains why so many people like it.
I visited the resturant yesterday welcome by a lay back environment and a nice decor. After looking though the many of options (which is always a great thing) I finally order the samosas, nan, and lamb vindaloo. The food came out very quick and was very good. The green basil sauce on the table was very good and was a great compliment to my meal. At first I was worry from the food portion that it was not going to be enough, but i was over stuff by time I left... And trust Im a big boy. One of the staff members heard me over talking about how I like really spicy food .. It turned out to be the owner who then went to the back and brought me out some home made hotsauce. It was spicier than average hot sauce but not really hot like I am use to having from Indian resturants. However he did inform me that he had to cool it down as many guest could not enjoy the level of spice it was once at. It was awesome to see a owner who was still able to be down to earth and still able to serve food and make time to talk to guest. Will I be there again??? yes!!! Its a great edition to Harlem and the food was great. Be sure to ask for the home made house sauce if you dare 👀
I was so excited and happy to find a place has good price and reviews in NYC. Then the reality hit.Buffet lunch for 10, good price? Yes yes it does come with a harsh service and 4 things to choose from with naan and samosa, rice. The service girl in green was having an off day, as the lady next to me said when she saw I got bad service. The green shirt lady sever jumped in front of me when Im getting food, then she looked at me and said: oh you want this?? Fine, you go. I was like, well, I have been in line getting food, but thank you for your generosity to let me get food Im paying for. Then 10 minutes later (I usually take my time at buffet to enjoy food and peace) she came to my table and take the white water bottle and slammed it back down, Im not sure if she was just checking to see if the bottle is empty, its clear glass bottle so there is more than half water left, maybe water is hard to see... And before that, about my first plate, she came with a check slammed on my table, slammed the salt and pepper down to hold the check.... I started to think maybe this is just how she does things. So I laughed off and move on.Food: it is not that great. I am in computer science field so yes I know how to judge Indians food since most of my friends are Indians. This is not what good food taste like, chicken was extremely dry wth sauce, shrimp is shrunk to the smallest and sauce is not creamy and tasty as regular paneer.Samosa is ok, super small with little filling.Ok Im done complaining lol anyway, Im sad that I was fooled but oh well, NYC, Im experiencing it.The clear glass bottle ... But the server cant see water in it so slamming it down the table helped her know 😂slamming table is the new norm in service here 😻
Ive been eating from Clove since my first semester of City College and I feel compelled to right this review (I dont review often). I will never forget my first experience here when Habib was incredibly kind and patient with me as we went through all the menu options.Clove I just want to thank you for consitently providing me a Healthy Delicious and Affordable Selection of awesome Indian food...Also an Efficient and Attentitive Service everytime...I have brung my family here they also love it !
Had been there on a Sunday morningOrdered Biryani on the suggestion of the owner(maybe) on a spicy scaleThe rice used was just normal left over and just a couple of basmati rice strands in between and it was just filled with chili sauce.. Had chole Bhaji as appetizer and who gives just one puri for the appetizer? Horrible horribleIm a good cook I know how biryani should taste this biryani was just some chili yellow rice with some veggies and one small bay leaf broken into five pieces!!!!Avoid going there total rip off.
Authentic Indian Cuisine and dining this is uptowns most Jewel spots right across from CUNY College👍👍👍👍👍 I just love the brook of the dining hall the fluorescent multi-colored lights behind the seating areas along the brick wall!!!! & and the staff and food is the main reason to travel uptown if you want real authentic Indian food⭐⭐⭐
Just finished another fantastic meal. Had the lamb vindaloo which is not on the menu but recommended by our awesome server Habib. Came up here on a long bike ride from Fidi, specially to have lunch here. Next time you find yourself in Hamilton Heights, this is the place to go.

2021-11-09CHICKEN TANDOORI REALLY GOOD!Margaritas too buenoo!!Habib the host is really cool 😎 he doesnt do too much and comes when he needs to. Trust me this is essential no one likes to be bothered or upsold while eating... As a first timer Habib made me feel welcomed and helped me order what I wanted depending how I felt that day. The only bad its next to Chinese cuisine restaurant which sometimes has couriers waiting.Other than that... nice to bring your date out for some nice indian food at an affordable price and drinks are great and nice price.

2022-02-10First time experiencing Indian food. Habib was so informative about not only the food but the culture and experience that goes into the cuisine. 15/10 experience. The pineapple margarita was great too. $8 during happy hour and they also have lunch specials.

2022-06-14Craving Indian food? say no more. This place has it all. I was so disappointed by Indian restaurant near my home (which used to be awesome but with change of management, the quality went down the hill) this place saved my faith in delicious Indian food. Absolutely delicious with good energy people providing great service. Recommend 100000%

2022-03-19My girlfriend and I were looking for something different and walked passed clove multiple times before. We finally decided to come in and man were we surprised! The staff was lovely and our server was so warm and welcoming and made great recommendations! Drinks were strong and well balanced! The food here was like coming home from college on break and having your mom’s cooking for the first time in months, but now my mom is Indian. We will definitely be coming back! One of our new favorite spots in the area!!

2022-01-27Absolutely amazing Indian food. The vegan options are fantastic and they have many more than most restaurants. We got the mixed vegetables and the aloo chole gram and everything was so nicely spiced and cooked. We also had the mixed pickle, nice and spicy without too much oil and no mango shell. Will certainly be trying more of their many vegan options, particularly the saags.

2022-06-14Before the pandemic it was great. The price was low the food was very good and you got a lot. Went there today and everything changed. The food was good but the price went up a lot and you didnt get a lot.
