I’ve only had amazing experiences at Clutch PT!! I’ve worked several times with Lexi for a reoccurring injury. She always makes me feel so comfortable and cared for. She’s so knowledgeable - teaches me things to do on my own to care for my body. This goes for the whole Clutch PT team in general. As a trainer myself, it’s so important to bridge the gap between training and physical therapy and Clutch does an outstanding job with community outreach. I’ve experienced a couple workshops/inservices by Clutch and I always learn something new.
Everyone at Clutch is awesome, but my Physical Therapist Ray is incredible. Ray has a way of translating his intricate knowledge into bite sized, accessible lessons. In this way, he helps you understand why you might be in pain, and what you can do to avoid it in the future. In addition to these little lessons, his hands on technique is absolutely amazing for melting away muscle tension.
My faith in the PT’s at Clutch is so strong that, even though I could find a physical therapist closer geographically, I’d rather do tele-health with Clutch. Within only 4 sessions Ray was able to pinpoint and help to strengthen to source of my hip discomfort. Ray provided appropriate and feasible exercises I could do on my own, plus the wisdom to comfort my fears around my injury. The Zoom platform worked so well, he was able to see me clearly and make sure I was doing everything safely. CLUTCH IS THE BESTTT
I used to be a triathlete but my body was not built to be a triathlete. The physical therapists at Clutch have nursed me back to health when I was at my fittest and now that I’m in a different kind of shape (potato shaped), they are still fixing my bod. Five years later and I still love Clutch. If you’ve acquired some aches and pains during COVID, please consider them. Their safety procedures are up to code and you will feel much better!!! Support this amazing small business.
Everyone at Clutch PT played a huge part in my success at the NY Marathon a couple weeks ago. I came in from California dealing with some glute and hamstring issues and I was referred to Josh to help me after my long flight.. I saw him twice before the race and then saw Ray after the race and I cant thank them both of enough for helping me get to that starting line in great shape and helping the recovery process. Josh gave me special stretches to help pre- race and even some quick tips on activating glutes once I got in the corals. They are so wonderful!!! I wish I lived closer!
I started PT with Ray to address knee pain that I was experiencing when running. Ray addressed the issue not just at the site of pain but surrounding weaknesses contributing to it. He was extremely knowledgeable and friendly which made the experience enjoyable. I’d recommend Ray to anyone looking for a great PT.
I spent the most part of 2019 unable to run due to severe Plantar Fasciitis and the second half of 2019 unable to swim or bike due to a shoulder separation from a bike accident. Despite also spending 2019 at a variety of very reputable PT establishments and making progress, I was unable to get back to training confidently and without pain. I vowed to make positive changes in 2020, so I tried Clutch-PT, although I began with a fair amount of skepticism. Julie Lamb, who first introduced me to Clutch, told me that Clutch would not just get me back to my previous baseline but actually help me surpass it! I was assigned to Ray Delacruz and was immediately impressed with his quick attunement, easygoing style, and understated but superior understanding of the body and PT interventions. Within 2 months, I was already back to racing (2 NYRR races already under my belt) and soon to be running again in the NYC Half. I am now pain-free and quickly reclaiming my confidence, strength, & speed. Thank you so much, Ray & Clutch, for your expertise and giving me the results I had been hoping for! I look forward to continue working with Clutch to not only keep me healthy, but also surpass previous limitations!
Ray was very knowledgeable, attentive, communicative and gave a great physical therapy experience. He assessed my issues and put an organized rehab strategy together for me. As a fitness professional myself, I valued the time he spent with me and will continue to see Ray to address my future needs.
Josh recently conducted a virtual ergonomics workshop for 75 of our employees over Zoom. He had many great tips for optimizing home office set ups during COVID and some cool hacks for the inevitable challenges of working in suboptimal spaces such as our cars and bedrooms! He had an engaging personality and received great feedback from our employees. Highly recommended.
I am fortunate enough to have experienced top notch care at Clutch PT for MULTIPLE injuries over several years. Between a nasty and nagging hamstring injury one year, and a pretty brutal case of a work from home stiff shoulder/neck/entire upper body situation when COVID struck, my issues have always been attended to with precise attention and a gentle (or in some cases, NOT so gentle) touch when I needed it most!! Thanks Team Clutch PT!
I was extremely pleased with the excellent indvidual attention provided at Clutch Physical Therapy by Josh. He was able to evaluate the source of my neck pain and formulated a treatment plan to help improve my condition. In addition to the great PT treatment it was very important for me to do my homework of stretching / strengthening exercises which complimeneted the PT treatment. I would highly reccommend Josh & Clutch Physical Therapy.
I received expert treatment and care. I came in with two previously broken sesamoid bones who refused to show signs of improvement. After Clutch PT sessions I was able to get back into a pair of running shoes, and Im now back to a full training volume. Super friendly folks!
If you are an athlete, there will usually come a time when you push things a bit too far. If you find yourself in that situation and need some work done to get you back in the game then look no further than Clutch PT. Unlike many PT offices where you may have a therapist working with you and several other patients at the same time, the folks at Clutch always focus exclusively on you during your visit. Combine that with their extensive experience in working with athletes(and being athletes themselves) and youll find there is no better place to rehab or even prehab yourself. So do yourself a favor and if looking for a PT then look no further, you have found yourself the right group. The folks at Clutch PT take your athletic pursuits as seriously as you do, and take pride and joy in your successes. As a trainer and coach myself these are always the people I recommend when Im asked if I know any good physical therapists.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND CLUTCH PT! I am a triathlete and went there for a run analysis and absolutely LOVED my experience. The receptionist, therapists and entire staff are very friendly and professional. My run analysis was excellent. I am a long time marathoner and an Ironman, and I learned a lot about my body, how to run more efficiently, get stronger and prevent injury. I am also very grateful for Clutch PTs free educational seminars and workshops that they give in the community, including visiting us and educating my teammates and I at Empire Triathlon Club workouts.
Dr. Joshua Grahlman has built a boutique physical therapy clinic that prioritizes patients and athletes above everything else. I primarily work with Dr. Jane Ignatova. Im a running addict! Jane has worked extensively on my left hip, allowing me to comfortably train and complete marathons in my mid-forties. I love the Clutch approach to an office visit which always includes a quick status check, a thorough and uninterrupted period of manual manipulation, followed by stretching and exercises. Jane is working with me now to recover from a multi-level anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF). If you are an active person and understand that your body will always need maintenance, go see doctors Jane and Josh - I cannot recommend them enough!
When I first reached out to Josh, just like every injured athlete, my injury was “a priority” and it needed all the attention in the world. I wanted to 1) understand what I had, 2) understand how I got to this point, and 3) understand what I needed to do and how long it’d take to heal.Josh made it VERY easy to work around my schedule so that neither my work or my training would get impacted.Josh diagnosed a tendinitis and suggested that I get a MRI to rule out further damage (ie. Stress fracture).Josh treated me for 5 weeks, giving me exercises to do at home to speed up the recovery and strengthen my leg to reduce the chances of getting injured again. Josh looked at my shoes and suggested that the tendinitis could have come from the shoe I was wearing. I was over compensating and as a result put too much stress on my tendon.I went from barely being able to walk to racing a 70.3 in 8 weeks. I was skeptical about my chances to do the race, but that was before I met Josh and realized that he not only knows the body mechanics in and out, makes it easy to understand the root cause, but he also understands athletes’ needs. The tendinitis never flared up again, 1.5+ years after he treated me, which is amazing given the volume of running that I do on a weekly basis. I went on to have some strong race results at IM Coeur d’Alene this year and competed twice at the IM World Championships. One thing worth noting is that my doctor wanted me to have surgery, because that seems to be their #1 solution to all injuries...If you are in need of a PT, I would seriously consider giving Josh a call and check out Clutch PT. You’ll have to do your part and do the exercises he’ll give you, but if you follow his recommendations, you’ll be back on the horse in no time.
Josh is great! I came to him with a hard to pinpoint pain somewhere behind my knee and hamstring area. I also had my own theory as to what was causing it. Josh, in his expertise, countered my speculation with a different theory which ended up being correct. I had an IT band injury as opposed to a nerve issue.Josh is very knowledgeable about the body and how it works. He skillfully is able to communicate this information in a clear and concise way that is easy to understand. His one-on-one style is extremely beneficial in that you get his full undivided attention and instruction for the duration of your visit. This allows him to devote maximum time to perform stretches, active release techniques, and instruct you in detail through each exercise to ensure you are using proper technique to maximize the benefits. Other therapists i have visited juggle multiple patients at once and are only with you for a portion of the time. Josh is very dedicated to his clients and eager for their recovery. I began feeling results before i had even finished my first session. I was back to training in a little under a month. Josh is amazing at what he does and i highly recommend him.
The trainers are friendly and very knowledgeable and know exactly how to treat your injury. I had a very specific hip injury and after just a couple weeks I can already feel it getting better. I also have a very busy schedule, but they were able to work with it to get me an appointment whenever it worked for me.
I have been seeing Lexi for a torn meniscus that ive been ignoring for far too long. She has been so helpful in explaining what is going on with my knee and what we need to do to get strength back so I can get back to working out again. Shes fun and encouraging. I really couldnt be happier (well i will be happier when Im able to run again, but well get there!)The ClutchPT web portal also makes it easy to keep up with my appointments, ask questions and keep track of my exercises at home.
I went to Dr. Lexi Burtman hoping to understand how to safely return to running after pregnancy, and hoping she could help with some postpartum symptoms I was experiencing. Dr. Lexi listened to my history, clinically assessed my body, then walked me through tips and exercises that will help address what my body needs right now. I left feeling much more confident that I can return to running without doing any damage and knowing how to address my symptoms with the specific exercises she provided. Dr. Lexi was warm, easy to talk to, and extremely knowledgeable. I could tell shes passionate about helping women take care of their bodies during this vulnerable time. If anything, I wish I’d gone to see her sooner!
As a type-A Ironman triathlete and ultra marathoner, Ive had more than my share of nagging pains and overtraining issues. Josh has rehabbed me several times, and has kept me racing for nearly five years.Josh even diagnosed a femoral stress fracture that a sports orthopedic specialist missed initially. It was Joshs expertise and insistence on further testing that lead to a proper diagnosis and treatment of a pretty serious injury.Josh really gets athletes. He knows how frustrating it is to be injured, and how badly I want to get back out there. But he also makes sure Im not rushing back to activity too soon. His patience and knowledge are both expansive, and hes the only PT I trust to keep me healthy.
Jane is a real deal healer!!After flying off an ATV on vacation I came back to find out I had a greater tuberosity fracture(shoulder), and some fractured ribs. The ribs healed on their own so I assumed the shoulder would do the same. I was extremely wrong. I waited months before going to therapy so I probably did even more damage by waiting so long and was in sooo much pain.Jane is absolutely awesome. She has been extremely motivating when therapy gets tough & frustrating and was super understanding. She showed me different stretches for my arm/shoulder and stressed the importance of doing my therapy at home as well. Its been about 5 or 6 weeks since I first started with Jane and I feel amazing! Im back at the gym lifting weights with ZERO pain!THANK YOU JANE!
Ive been dealing with Plantar Fasciitis (PF) for over a year at this point while maintaining my regular running routine. I had an ambitious goal this past spring to run very the challenging and beautiful Big Sur Marathon in California. Midway through training, my PF was really starting to bother me, particularly on the longer runs, and was forcing me to cut runs short. The PT I was seeing at the time for some relief wasn’t having much impact either. I was about to throw in the towel and give up on the race!I called up Josh and asked for advice. I went in for a full evaluation and he gave me both hands on treatment as i peaked training mileage and homework to keep things in check. I made it to race day and while I went in undertrained, I was still able to finish the extremely challenging course. While it was far from a PR, the PF wasnt my limiting. Thanks Josh for getting me through this tough time!
I had a great experience with Clutch Physical Therapy. Alexandra Burtman was super knowledgeable and patiently answered to all my questions and concerns. She explained me the problem I had and how to do the exercises to solve my issues. She is also very kind and easy to talk with. I really recommend her.
I saw Dr. Lexi after I was experiencing excruciating pain in my back because of my pregnancy. I could barely walk, I couldnt play with my daughter and it hurt just to lay in bed the wrong way. Within three weeks I was not only walking again, but the pain was GONE. I never thought Id be able to function the way I do now, and here I am! Dr. Lexi saved me from a potentially miserable pregnancy and I cant recommend her enough!!
Arrived with a broken foot and a busted season. Jane read my doctors report, listened to my revised goals and gave me exercises to work on at home. In this patient’s mind, Jane went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and to get me ready for my end of season race. Thanks for everything.

2022-05-02I came to Josh in serious pain after injuring my back lifting weights. Over the course of my time with him, he was able to fix the immediate problem while also helping me build up the strength and technique to prevent a similar injury from happening again.Ive worked with many physical therapists over my athletic career, but Josh was the best Ive ever dealt with in terms of tailoring a response to my specific needs. Although I hope that an injury never forces me back into his office, if it does, I know Ill be in good hands with Josh and his Clutch PT team.

2021-04-28I researched every PT in upper east side when I stumbled upon Clutch therapy. Raymond has been my PT since I was placed into a cam boot for a partial tear in my ankle. I knew my diagnosis going in and I came out understanding exactly what I needed to do to get better. As a young active person my injury was frustrating. Ray was extremely knowledgeable and explained my injury every step of the way. Not only does he evaluate the injury but the whole body’s mechanics. After seeing plenty of doctors, Raymond was someone I could trust. He gave me hope and confidence as I became stronger. I highly recommend anyone recovering from an injury to see Raymond. He is an expert in the field and has a holistic approach to his care. I am so grateful to have found Clutch PT.Along with Raymond, the clutch family is welcoming and supportive. The space is private and also has a gym. This was my second PT through my recovery I can say I felt a world of a difference. You feel like a real person, not just a patient.

2020-12-29I went to Clutch PT to rehab a very severe grade 3 high ankle sprain from hiking, and I couldnt be happier! Ray was my PT, and he is fantastic, knowledgeable, and caring, and I would absolutely recommend him to anyone. My ankle sprain was so severe that I couldnt even bear weight for the first month and had to be on crutches. At the 6 week mark, my orthopedic surgeon gave me the green light to start PT. Ray was highly recommended to me by a friend, and I am so glad that I chose Clutch for my recovery journey. When I first started, I was still limping and not walking properly (couldnt even manage stairs either). Ray had me do exercises to fix my gait and improve my range of motion. After 2 weeks, I was already seeing a huge improvement in the way I walked. By week 4, I was walking pretty normally and could even balance on my bad leg. I was so amazed at my progress!Fast forward to week 11, and at my final session I could run on the treadmill, do box jumps, and squat while balancing on a bosu. Ray was great at slowly progressing me to these more advanced moves, and each week felt better and better. I highly recommend Clutch, you get 45 minutes of 1-on-1 care (worth every penny) and I cant praise them enough for their expertise and care.

2021-01-22Clutch PT and Ray are absolutely amazing! Ray is so knowledgeable about what athletes (and wanna-be athletes like myself) need to do to strengthen the muscles that are necessary to work out pain-free. I saw Ray once a week for about 4 months and he was able to show me which exercises I needed to do at home, help create more mobility in my shoulder and ultimately aide my recovery from injury. Ive been to other PTs in the past for a variety of injuries, and Clutch is the best of the bunch. Clutch also takes its COVID protocols seriously - temperature checks, hand sanitizer, masking and limiting the number of people in the facility. I highly recommend Ray and Clutch PT.

2021-07-10Several years ago I was suffering from severe and crippling back pain - I was associated with Josh through my job and he offered to assess me. Although we believed my insurance would compensate him for our visits it turned out they wouldn’t - he still offered to see me for my originally agreed and very minimal copay. This was an offer I refused since it would have been at significant cost to him but with hindsight maybe I should have taken. After his first assessment, he recommended hip flexibility work and used lacrosse balls in his exercises - not something widely done at that time - despite prior experience in the strength training world I had never heard of it. Frankly at that time I did not believe that my spine literally popped like a champagne cork because my hips were tight and never followed through with his prescribed exercises.Several years later mobility drills became extremely popular on YouTube and without associating it with the advice of Josh, I began doing them. After a short period doing hip work, extremely similar to what I was given by Josh but wasn’t ready to listen, my back pain disappeared. I later made the connection and realized the literal years of pain I subjected myself to.Josh is the real deal, ahead of the popular science and can help if you’re ready to accept advice that might not stroke your ego. When I met him I needed to believe I was broken and it caused me extra years of unnecessary pain.

2020-10-14I used to love running, but over the past 2 years I have been struggling with injury and pain. First it was torn meniscus, then surgery to remove a bone spur on my foot had me limping around the city which gave me major hip problems. I started working with Ray and he took me all the way back to the basics. We are retraining my muscles to work together properly and get my alignment and core strength back. Today I had my first pain free day in YEARS. I still have a lot of work to do to get to running again, but without Ray and the CLUTCH team I would have given up.Everyone there really cares, and listens to your personal goals and you work together to get there. Ray is really fun and knows his sh*t. Go!

2019-10-16Highly recommend Clutch! Theyre a small but mighty team committed to giving 100% of their attention to their clients. Its so great to walk into a space of people that know you, or to actually know who youre talking to when interacting over IG! More specifically, Dr. James worked with me over the course of four months to help prepare me for my first ever marathon. Ive never done strength training before but he was so kind and patient and informative and made the whole experience super enjoyable for me. My mile time has decreased and Ive also noticed more muscle in my arms and legs. Thank you James & the rest of the Clutch team!

2020-07-10I honestly am floored by the speed of my recovery with Clutch PT. I was injured for months and saw another PT because of convenience the whole time, which I knew in my gut wasn’t really doing anything. I did a virtual session with Dr. Josh, who gave me a 10 min routine with the exercises I needed most, and 2 weeks later, I was running with no pain. In one month, I’m back to hard training efforts and running sub 6 pace off the bike. I knew he was GOOD, but what kind of voodoo witchcraft are you guys pulling over there?!The other PT was pushing toward MRI, PRP, etc. But Josh’s approach was to inquire about my history and training habits, and surmised it was more likely a chronic issue that those other costly treatments would not necessarily fix. He honed in on the problem with a prescription of the proper movements, and it got blood flow going again. I could literally feel it getting stronger every day.Thank you for saving me from going down an expensive rabbit hole of a bunch of tests and alternate treatments I didn’t need!

2019-02-27My experience with Clutch Physical Therapy has been very positive. They did all the heavy lifting regarding insurance and my sessions with Dr. Nick Torres have rapidly decreased my pain and improved my overall posture. Home exercises are thoroughly explained during appointments, and reinforced via email with personalized tutorial videos, which is great!

2021-03-22Ive been seeing Ray for almost two months now, weekly. I had a nagging pain in my leg that prevented me from sleeping at night, which has been close to completely alleviated in the short time weve been working together. Ray is smart, thorough and a pleasure to be around. Id recommend him and Clutch PT to anyone looking to rehabilitate from an injury.
