Its open 7 days a week but It appears that recently theyve only opened the sliding window to order your drinks and consume them outside. I dont know if theyre ever going to open the inside again, but maybe when Covid is over. The drinks are really good, but you do have to pay for quality. They offer singles and doubles and they have takeaway bottles of cocktails as well. They do dessert and we try this smore which was amazing.
We were on vacation and looking to try a new place to eat so we saw this and thought it looked cool. Due to covid it was take out only which was OK. We ordered mac and cheese (which was amazing!), skirt steak (amazing but a tiny portion for $22), rice and beans (basic), Hasselbeck potatoes (which were so burned we couldnt eat them), cuban corn (yummy), and a roasted cheese platter (which was very hard to eat as it had partially cooled by the time we got to it but had great flavor, but unfortunately the crostinis it was served with were also so burned we couldnt really eat them without an overwhelming bitter burned taste). Im sure on a good day this place is incredibly awesome but today it was meh. :(
Grabbed some to go food today, was very very good. The chicken was crispy and delicious. Owner was polite and the food came to us fast. The way they package everything is so cute, looks like they had custom stamps made, it all seems very environmentally friendly. The house soda was gooooood.
We had a great time here. The drinks were fantastic and generously portioned. The layout and setup are really fun. They have a bunch of inexpensive bar food, as well as some good cuts of meat fairly priced. It was created by two guys from Brooklyn. If we visit the area again we’ll definitely drop by.
I’m really struggling to find the words but in short - it was the BEST culinary experience we had in quite some time.Coming from NYC, it’s really hard to find places who really use fresh ingredients (if any). Brian, the night’s bartender who was amazing, explained us that all of their ingredients are sourced locally from the surrounding farms, and it really shows! The food was amazing to the last bite!Thank you for making our city hideout vacation perfect.*I recommend you to try as many as you can from the $5 options!
This is our go-to spot during the pandemic. The pricing structure of the menu and the scalability of their drinks make the experience incredibly versatile. No matter how busy they get, you can still distance fairly easily, and Josiah is just plain good to talk to and obviously cares about his community. Here is a rundown of the menu:-Chicken Thigh: great flavor and texture, we get it every time. While it is always good, it does appear to be consistently better during the day rather than at night. For $6, its a steal whenever though.-Mac and Cheese: a slight bit greasier than I would like, but despite that (or maybe because of it) this is my personal favorite mac in the Catskills. Ill make a special trip for this dish.-Hassleback Potato: this is just plain cool. I love to see dishes like this on menus. And it is GOOD, served with dill and sour cream, its the potato dish your life has been missing.-Crispy Rice and Bean: a simple offering but also a really nurturing and satisfying dish. Wouldnt mind a bit more banana pepper, but that is just me. Its almost as if they mixed soccarat (crispy rice from the bottom of a pan most notably in paella) in the dish, which deepens the flavor and adds a nice texture.-Flank Steak: could have used a bit of char, but the cook was PERFECT. Though the flavor and texture are amazing, fair warning, it doesnt scratch the desire for grilled or charred steak. That being said, the great funky beefy flavor really does it for me here.-Grilled Romaine: this is a good dish, but I dont think it translates well to a to-go menu. It was a little over wilted by the time we ate it. Flavor was still good and it definitely didnt get tossed, but it lost something between the plating and the consumption. If you order, eat immediately.-Roasted Cheese Board: the cheeses are really great, but I couldnt eat the bread (allergic to sesame). I get the impression that would have really sealed the deal. I didnt get to eat the dish as intended, so take my comments with a grain of salt here. It looked like it could have used a fruity element of some sort (a jam or a preserve) to go with the bread and cheese to make a little sando. As far as the drinks are concerned, we have tried them all, and while there are no duds, the Feed n Seed comes out on top. It is a really tasty and well made beverage. Make it a triple so you can sip on it for a while after getting home.It isnt just that the food and drinks are good here, the whole concept is obviously very highly considered and cared for. The product is mostly local, and you can feel the connection to the area every time you stop by. This wasnt an accident, it was the point. Its why Im always excited to go, and why it doesnt seem to get old, no matter how many times you visit.
Weve made it our ritual to stop here on a Friday night when we drive up to our cabin for the weekend. Cozy atmosphere with very nice people. The bartenders make real quality drinks and can put one together for you if youre looking for a surprise. They also make chocolate egg creams. Skirt steaks are mouth watering. Solid crew running the place. Wishing their business the best.
Lovely decor with a menu that has potential. Cocktail options raise the bar, however the rest of the offering sadly falls very short. The bar staff was less than attentive. So much lost opportunity for revenue. Our group was not asked once if we would like an additional drink and we waited over an hour for our food (and we were actually sitting at the bar). Three owners running around and yet nobody running the ship. Bartender got our order wrong and we watch everyone around us who came in after us get served first. Will not be back.
Great place for a bite to eat and a cold beer. No one greets at the door so just find a spot and get your order in. It was very crowded but we received our order quicker than we thought. All good...we were in no hurry. Mac and Cheese...delish! Chicken thigh and Cuban Corn..🤗👍👍Definitely be returning. Im thinking wasted space with the sofas, though..could add at least 6 more tables.
It was Easter Sunday, my hungry girlfriend and I had just drove into the area and nothing else was open so we decided to give this place a try. Im so glad we did! Their menu might not be expansive or fancy but man, everything we tried was so good! Their wood oven gives everything a very distinct, delicious flavor! I had the crispy rice and beans with a crispy chicken thigh and my girlfriend had the shrimp on a pineapple with the roasted romaine. Accompanied with some Oaxacan mules, this was one of the best impromptu dinners weve had in a while!
Incredible cocktails, food, and atmosphere! The staff is also extremely attentive, knowledgable, and make you feel right at home. This place has quickly become a favorite among locals and weekenders and is perfect for any occasion. Can’t wait to get myself to The Staesh!
This was our go to place when we came back to the hamlet. Now that we have retired Wed nights are spent at the Fire Station. All their drinks are well crafted. So many bars mix classic drinks that are way too sweet. I have gone to an establishment in Callicoon. On my last visit to Fire Station i mentioned that there was a place that made very good Old Fashions in Callicoon. Bartender laughed and mentioned that they did the cocktail menu for that bar and hired/trained the bartender. These guys are awesome. Oh and as stated in other reviews. Food is excellent and everything is very fairly priced. One other thing .. not sure what people expect for a $5 small plate (which is most excellent). Even the cheese plank (please dont complain that it is wood plank people) is only $15. I pay just as much at my regular Tempe Az go to spot and honestly the selection of cheese at the Fire Station is superior.
The bartenders at this bar are better than any found throughout NYC. True mixologists with knowledge and personality to match the bests of the best. The owners are lovely and welcoming, always thrilled to see their guests. The food... for 6 months we have all tried to mimic the cheese board, the steak and the roasted romaine ceasar at home to much dismay. (They do say that impersonation is the best form of flattery) It is always our first destination, if not the cause to our visit to the Catskills, specifically Sullivan County. If you live anywhere in NY, PA or DE (or anywhere for that matter) you are simply missing this amazing place.
I went to try the little choices of foods they have on their menu, the food was good but the portion of food was lacking. For the $20.00 skirt steak I believe the portuon shouldve been more especially when thats the price for the meat only. The sides were an extra $5 for each sides. I couldve gone tocthe center of NYC the theater district and ordered for the same price and wouldve gotten 3 times the portion including the sides. Aside from that the ambience is nice but the food was lacking.
This restaurant is nice and cozy! the food was absolutely d e l i c i o u s, bUT it took like five years to come, since they don’t provide table service (they don’t come over to the table to order your food). gotta say, it was worth the wait, but I have more patience than most. if you have low to no patience, stick with a drink!
Where is the Cochecton Fire Station? More or less under the tracks off the main road (Route 97) far from any population center.. Yet in the year or so since it opened its doors lots of people have managed to find it, lining up for their unique, expertly mixed drinks and food, cooked in a wood fired oven. We had the plank trout, shrimp on pineapple and flank steak (these are all small plates best shared).

2021-07-19We happened to be in the area & I found CFS on Google Maps. We arrived for a late lunch & we’re delighted to enjoy the yummy Hasselback Potatoes & Cuban Corn. The skirt steak was delicious & the Shrimp Pineapple was very good too! We’ll be back with friends to enjoy this place even more!

2020-12-19My fiance and I had an amazing dinner from Cochecton to celebrate our engagement. We were staying at a nearby town and were recommended this restaurant from our host. We were so glad for it - the food was delicious and unique, including a cheese board literally served on plywood and fantastic cocktails. We enjoyed our dinner so much that we had to return for a few more apps to-go. Highly recommend!

2022-05-31Food is overpriced and mediocre. Chicken is tiny; smaller than my palm. $8 for shaved carrots and raisins……

2020-02-24This is a cool little place to go and have some lunch, or a nice dinner. You can sit at the bar or at these cool little tables, they even have a big dinning section for larger crowds. The food is really good and they have options for 5$ up to 21$. They have a large variety of cocktails to choose from making this a really fun place to go and visit, its definitely worth the trip to check this place out. One of my favorite things is they use paper straws for their cocktails and they have great fresh fruit for their drinks. We will definitely be coming back to try their macaroni and cheese.

2018-11-10Such a great restaurant and bar. The vibe and atmosphere are really nice, relaxed and welcoming in a very cool setting. They have a great food menu, all cooked in a wood fired oven, with a section of food that is $5 each. You can order the whole menu for $99 which is fun to do with a group of friends. Josiah and Zeke are great hosts and are very friendly and welcoming. The cocktails are delicious. This place is a loyal gem in the area. Make sure to check it out.

2018-11-13This carefully detailed establishment certainly hits the spot with the wood fired menu selection and the mixologist cocktails. A pleasant surprise for the location or anywhere. The propietors have put a lot of thought and care into this establishment and are super friendly. Try everything on the menu and you will not be disappointed. I will certainly be back on my next visit to the vicinity.

2018-10-21Came here based on a recommendation from someone in Callicoon, and wasnt disappointed at all. We didnt have the food, but the 3 drinks we tried were perfect. Their house old fashioned might be the best Ive tried. Id definitely come back to try the food (which looked amazing when it came out) and explore the drink menu further. The owners and bartenders were extremely helpful and friendly.
