So I’m a dude. I grew up going to smoky barbershops with my dad, with the brass and leather chairs, where the barbers chewed cigars, spit on the floor, and asked if you wanted the #1 or the #2 off the poster on the wall (I usually got the swanky flat-top). I’m comfortable in these shops, and I relish my time in them – the tonsorial arts are in decline, and our civil society is the worse for wear because of it. Yet, while I was relatively pleased with my local fellow here in town, I felt myself yearning for something more… I happened to meet Jacqueline through luck and circumstance and decided to take a chance on the unfamiliar, an alternate dimension, the “upside-down” from my usual barbershop, if you will: The Cocolo Spa.Where can I begin? Cocolo is well lit, clean, welcoming, as one would expect an up-and-coming spa in Upstate NY to be. 5 stars all around for professionalism and courtesy. What sets Cocolo apart, though, is the fact that Jacqueline and her staff can out-Patsy Patsy’s, and teach those lads a few tricks to boot. Stellar fade? Check. Great styling advice? Check. A hot towel? Check, with added lemon freshness. But no straight razor shave like the barber though, right? Wrong. Jacqueline lays down a sharper shave than Sweeney Todd himself, all in blissful comfort and safety. This is usually the point where the classic barber experience ends, but Cocolo just begins. A luxurious shampoo and scalp massage are visited upon you, along with a nice cold towel to seal things up. Bonus points for getting your Shrek eyebrows waxed into Jon Hamm shape.5 stars is not an adequate summary of the experience. Cocolo does all this and a bag of chips considering even Jean Paul in the frou-frou Stuyvesant Plaza couldn’t play at this level, and would have charged twice as much. Brother, listen: leave the shop, just for an afternoon, and give Cocolo a try. You’ll see what I mean, and come back like I will.

My sister recommended it here and ever since they did my hair for her wedding I never dreamed of going anywhere else. 100% professional and Im always pleased with my results.

2022-01-17I hadnt had my hair cut since the start of the pandemic, but as a gift from a friend for starting a new job, I was given a cut and color at Cocolo Spa. I appreciated that everyone was masked. Its a beautiful, clean, and welcoming place, but not at all pretentious. Everyone is friendly and down to earth. My stylist Dimas was amazing. The cut and highlights were superb and he was so easy to talk to. As an introvert, I sometimes find such occasions to be pretty awkward but this wasnt. I highly recommend treating yourself. Both the experience and the results are top notch.

2021-12-29Everyone at Cocola is great but I love going to Mariah for color/cut. She is amazing and always gets the color perfect no matter the amount of detail you provide her. She is super nice and makes your time in the chair even more enjoyable.

2021-05-19A wonderful place I had my first ever Deva Curl haircut with Dimas my hair and curls came back to life I havent seen them like this since I was a little girl, it was very emotional. Everyone is so friendly and professional they know what they are doing, the atmosphere is relaxing. I have found my new hair place super happy.

2020-10-30This place is wonderful. If you want to get a hair wash like no ones business, you go and see Jackie and Lexi. I am sure the others that work there do a fantastic job as well. Jackie makes sure she has quality in her salon (products, services and staff).People have lost the art of washing hair. Its a huge part of getting your hair cut. I enjoy both of these (who wouldnt). Its supposed to be a relaxing time. And you def will get that here.They have other services there as well. Eyelash extensions and facials. Give them a try. You wont be disappointed.

2020-09-03I loveeeeee going to get my hair done there. Jackie and her staff our AMAZING. They make you feel so special and take the absolute best care of you. I recently tried a spa service and it was great as well. I cant wait for COVID to be over so I can get a facial. See you all soon!

2016-10-31Love this new spa/salon in Albany! They have great customer service, always offer fresh coffee when you come in, and the spot itself is cute, quiet, and very relaxing. Jacqueline always does a fantastic job with my hair; I dont want to go anywhere else after seeing her!

2017-07-25Jauqeline, and Cocolo, are FABULOUS! I had long, very curly hair, and wanted to get a very pixie cut. She listened to what I wanted, answered all my questions, and I was BLOWN AWAY by the outcome. I absolutely love my haircut. She did an amazing job, and I also really appreciated the attentive service and the relaxing, beautiful salon. I cant say enough good things about them!! I will definitely go back.

2018-01-17Are you in need of some pampering, a good haircut, eyebrow wax, skincare, massage, scalp treatment, a blow out (wow the best)? Look no further. This is the place to go. Prices are great and the service is amazing. I adore the owner as well as everyone else. Everyone is so helpful, sweet and great at what they do.
