I had a seamless experience at this location walked in at 6:05 pm and walked out by 7pm with brand new glasses... In addition customer service was amazing Carmen was great from start to finish. She shared all costs up front and was very helpful/patient with me while helping pick the perfect frames...all in all it was a great experience!
BEWARE STAY AWAY FROM THIS STORE. EVERYONE THERE IS UNPROFESSIONAL RUDE AND NASTY. THE PERSON DOING THE EYE EXAMS SEEM LIKE HE DOESNT KNOW WHAT HES DOING. THEY DEFINITELY DO NOT TREAT EVERYONE EQUALLY . THEY ARE NOT HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE ,BOXES ARE ALL ALONG THE BACK MAKING IT A FIRE HAZARD AND A LIABILITY. SO MANY WONDERFUL PEOPLE IN THE WORLD JOBLESS BUT THEN YOU HAVE THESE RUDE AND NASTY PEOPLE WORKING THERE. I HOPE THE OWNER READS ALL OF THESE BAD REVIEWS ABOUT THIS LOCATION AND FIRES AND HIRES BETTER AND SUITABLE PEOPLE. HAVING UNPROFESSIONAL PEOPLE WORKING IN A COMPANY TREATING CUSTOMERS BADLY COULD RUIN YOUR BUSINESS. Absolutely horrible experience. They nickel and dime you for anything they can.I had called ahead to ask if they can adjust my glasses as the frame was crooked. Woman on the phone said itll be free but when I got to the store, they just looked at the glasses and wanted to charge me 7 dollars for new nose pads and refused to adjust my glasses if I did not buy it... Finally even after paying it, he changed the nose pads in 20 seconds and acted like he realigned my frame. He left my glasses on the table and just walked away to the back room without ensuring everything was ok..So now, I had spent 7 dollars on new nose pads that I didnt even need and still have crooked glasses. At least the crooked part is a good reminder of how this store operates and how they treat their customers.
Great customer service from Carmen on a pair of high prescription glasses I originally got at another optical store. Helped me pick out a new frame that fits perfectly on my face and only charged for the new frame. Also took my insurance. Ill be back to see Carmen at Cohens for all my optical needs, as opposed to trekking into the city for much more expensive services and products. An eye-opening experience!
On a Sunday, I went to this Cohens Fashion Optical, arriving approximately at 11:30A.M. The store, observing covid restrictions, had a limited number of customers. However, the store seemed to be doing decent business.Shelly was the employee assisting me. She was friendly and patient, did not rush me and was attentive.I had a few choices, and wanted to walk and consider which frames I wanted. No problem, she said. Take your time, and when youre sure, come back. So, i left the store, shared pics of the frames. Oh, and Shelly suggested that I take pictures with the frames on, to get more realistic idea.Anyway, once I decided, I returned. The store was slightly more busy. I could see that the two employees that worked the counters had their hands filled.I have to give them both credit for being patient, while one customer seemed agitated. There was no reasonable cause for her to be upset. From what I saw, they were trying to accommodate her.So, I waited a short time, while Shelly finished helping the customers ahead of me. Then I told her my choice, and within minutes she had the process done. Said she would call me when theyre ready. I said its not a rush, whenever theyre done, just call. Tuesday a little after noon, she called noting the glasses were ready for pickup.Went back, and got my glasses. Everything was perfect. They packed my glasses in the case and put it into a plastic bag, along with a cleaning lens cloth, cleaning spray and a 2021 calendar.Not one for hyperbole, but an overall wonderful, painless experience. If I could give a negative number I would.Story time: I take my daughter and I to be taken care of. The counter staff was rude from the jump. Then the optician was also rude and flipped through the lenses so fast our eyes couldnt adjust fast enough. We ask him to slow down and when we tell him its not right and it feels off, he snaps that it should be perfect and he knows what hes doing. Glasses take forever. The insurance covered frames are pretty much all plastic. The counter girls knock every pair i like and insist on one I dont love. I spring for customs for the kid because its her first pair. My pair leaves my left eye twitching and the store clerks insist Im just not used to it. Refuse to recheck , adjust, exchange at all. Worse, a couple weeks later my kid looses her glasses. We go back to reorder the same custom one because , again, 12 and first pair of glasses. The next day we find them in the car. I call and they refuse to cancel the order the woman i spoke with well I dont know what your problem is your daughter should have two pairs of glasses anyway the glasses take over two weeks to arrive. The staff is still nasty af about the while situation. So recently the husband needed a recheck so i tried pearle vision on Northern Blvd. They took great care of Him. They did so well I sprung the out of pocket for an exam for myself. I WAS RIGHT! COHENS OF BAYSIDE GOT MY PRESCRIPTION COMPLETELY WRONG!!!!DONT GO TO THEM THEY ARE THE PUPPY MILL OF EYECARE!!!
What’s up with the people in this store? The two women who helped me on different days were both very high strung personalities, like ready to explode. Be careful not to ask too many questions. Did not even offer to adjust the nose pads on a new pair of glasses that I ordered, or even ask if everything was ok regarding the fit.
PLEASE BEWARE!!! These people are con artists!!!! I purchased two (2) pairs of glasses with three (3) extra features on lenses for both! Melissa AKA con artist assured me that I would receive this for the price she quoted. I did not negotiate down price, she quoted; I paid! I did NOT get what I ordered and in response Melissa continues to lie about our repeated discussions and confirmations of order.PLEASE GET AN ITEMIZED RECEIPT! When I got home my receipts specify nothing! Thankfully, I decided to document everything she and I discussed on the original receipts! When I picked up first pair, again I confirmed with Melissa the con artist that both pairs will have all three (3) features....as soon as I got home I made note of our conversation.WHEN DEALING WITH MELISSA-PLEASE BE SURE TO RECORD HER WORDS! This will aid you in the inevitable struggle which I am going through.To chime in with the other reviews, I wish I would have checked out reviews before going to this place with dismissive, and very none consumer friendly liars at Cohens in Bay Terrace.For those in the area I encourage you to go up 6-10 blocks on Bell, there are four (4) reputable places to tend to your eye exam and eye glass needs! Stay clear of this place!To think that during a pandemic and financial crisis people would try to steal and lie for a product I was happy to pay for! My blood pressure is through the roof over this. SHAME ON YOU MELISSA! SHAME ON YOU COHEN’S OF BAY TERRACE! YOU ARE CROOKS!I will be contacting my insurance company and BBB in hopes that this should not happen to anyone else!
I purchased two pairs of glasses and a pair of shades. I sat on one pair and damaged another. They replaced them as per my insurance, no issues. But mostly importantly, they were just a nice when I bought my glasses as when I came in to have one replaced and one fixed. Also I get constant compliments on all of the frames. I moved away from the area and still go back to because the have great frames and service. Customer for life!!!!
I went to Cohen optical in Bay Terrace just to purchase a good frame. I dont look like a super star or anything, but the way the service is there is awful. I asked to see a frame a Cartier, I knew it was a Cartier. When the lady took it out she emphasized at least 3 times it was a Cartier. How the hell does this woman know if I can or cannot afford it. Immediately my daughter said lets go, I was going to purchase a frame for my daughter, no matter what the cost, just as long it looked good on her and she liked it! She made us feel so awfu,l we stopped looking and left! ... terrible customer service.. DONT JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER!
The eye exam was less comprehensive than what I’m used to. I’ve been to other locations within the franchise who provide more thorough exams. I went here because I was in the mall and had time that day. However, if you have a current doctor you like, I’d say stick with your doctor. The pluses are: they have ample parking since they’re in a mall. The facility is clean. The selection of eyewear is descent. I believe they accept all major insurance. They also accept walk-ins (although, in hindsight, it’s probably very telling they have so many appointment openings when they only had one doctor on staff). If you try them out, good luck! I hope you have a good experience.
The women in this store are so incredibly rude. Zero, and I mean zero, common courtesy let alone customer service. When you go shopping for eyeglasses, the typical experience is for the sales representatives to be invested in you finding a pair that you enjoy, offering their opinion, making suggestions. I have been here twice in the past few months since previously making a purchase in 2018. They don’t make eye contact or greet you. When you ask a question they give you an attitude, unhappy to be inconvenienced with actually doing their job. ITaking my business elsewhere, and I suggest you do too.
This place just wants to rip you off in any possible ways. Their frames are mostly old models where you can get it for 1/5 of the price. They tell you that its because of the contracts and price floor but in another way, it means that they are deceiving customers who are not familiar with this industry. Its illogical to buy an old model and pay nearly 5 times more. Go to any local eye glasses shop and they have way better price, deals, customer service.... you name it and its better and cheaper than here. Their promotion of buy one pair and get one free sound like a great deal but they actually give you a cheap 2nd pair that costs less than $50 dollars with no abstract and everything extra will cost you money. I ended up spending over $500 on a old model frame that costs way less else where. Please people, read the reviews and learn from other peoples mistake. I will never visit Cohen optical ever again and not waste my money.
Loud, pushy high pressure sales person named Sharon. It was hard to think with this over bearing sales woman badgering me. Furthermore, this store has a no refund policy once you sign a credit form. I tried to cancel my order the same day, but the manager lied that the glasses are already in the lab. When I told the manager on the phone that the store should honor a customers needs and rights, she arrogantly responded that the customer should honor the stores policies. Ive felt more at ease with care sales people. This is not a BBB certified business, and I advise nice people to stay away.
Only reason I didn’t give it 1 star was because of the eye doctor who did my exam. He was very friendly and helped explain each step. But the lady that helped me pick out the frames had ZERO customer Service/hospitality. She seemed annoyed when I asked questions, her tone of voice and body language was very rude. Made a face when I would ask to see a frame. Mind you it took me less then 10 mins to find a pair I Liked, but I shouldn’t feel rushed or as I’m being a bother. I thought maybe it was just with me she may of been acting like this for whatever reason, but then I saw her interaction with other customers and she was even worse with them. Now I see why so many bad reviews. I can’t remember her name but she was wearing glasses.I noticed you guys only answer to good reviews. I don’t believe that is a good strategy, as you should knowledge the negative ones as well. They are the ones you learn most from and help u improve on.Thanks
Their service is ridiculous they have no problem PUSHING you to buy and add and get a 2nd pair and blah blah blah. But if you come in with a prescription from an opthamologist saying your measurement was done incorrectly and the glasses were overpriced, the Dr is wrong! Last time I order from Cohens! Taking my business elsewhere!
I was looking for new glasses and decided to check out what they had. I first picked a Gucci glasses and liked them and simply asked the lady what was the name of the glasses so I could keep track of what I liked and she exclaimed that she could not give me the name smh then I asked to see a Saint L glasses which I also liked. Both glasses had a similar style so I asked her if she could show me any others with the similar style that way I could make a final choice. She rudely said argh I have to keep cleaning the glasses you try on at that point I felt so disgusted by her behavior and told her to have a nice day and left. She really ruined my mood and I felt so horrible after.
This Cohen Fashion Optical have the worst customer service and they lie about matching the price from1800contact. After doing some research, I notice they never apply any discount on the cost on both my childs contact which they promised. I will never go back to this store!
Update 6/15/19:Highly recommend Bay Terrace Cohens Optical! Last year was my first time here with a great experience then, and the same this time. Got a great package at reasonable price. Appreciate the friendly-caring-expert staff. Go to Melissa to work with you to select frames/package; ask for Ricardo to work on your lenses; and Dr. Pitelli for exam. Thank you all!-------------------------------------------------------------------Wonderful experience & friendly staff - My first time at this store, received excellent service and a sale package including free eye exam. Received my eyeglasses in just 3 days. With expert help from Melissa in selecting perfect frames, and a thorough eye exam from Dr. Pittelli, I am now set with high quality glasses for work and play, at great price too. I highly recommend Cohens Fashion Optical at Bay Terrace Shopping Center!
“ Stay away” Ibought a pair of everyday glasses for distance. Choose designer frames so I knew they would be expensive. However, They jack up the price so much if you use insurance they get twice the price. If i gave the. $650.00 out of pocket. Who knows what they got from insurance.The sales people talk about the customers in a huddle behind the counter and they are all on commission so they have no interest in the customer at all. The place is very shady. When your spending a lot of money you should get genuine customer service. I would not reccommend cohens optical in bay terrace, sorry that’s the truth.
Edgardo is the best and most patient person I have ever met. The exam was also great. Edgardo showed me awesome frames and even waited for my husband to meet me to pick out sunglasses. He set me up with a pair of extra glasses while the pair I ordered were being made. He explained our insurance and told me about a rebate I was eligible for. Great experience!
Waiting on replacement frames for over 7 months now. Called today to check on them they said I wasnt even in their system!! So Frustrating about to call BBB on them. I bet by the time the frames are available my warranty will be up! This is so frustrating I paid $450 or a pair of plastic frames that broke and keep falling off my face and the lenses are always blurry! On top of the $450 was whatever they charged my insurance for! I can only imagine what the total price was since they didnt even put it on any documents that I saw. They had me sign a blank form and said it was procedure as they wouldnt know what my lenses would cost until they were completed? I asked for my Rx and they gave me incomplete information so I cant even order a cheap pair online so I can deal until the new frames are in! DO NOT GO HERE!
My fiancé and I always come to Cohens to purchase our sunglasses & eyeglasses. We are always helped by Kelly, she is amazing. She takes her time to help you find exactly what youre looking for and always gives you her honest opinion. If youre looking for glasses go here and ask for Kelly!
I purchased a pair of Lindberg glasses for over $1000 last year. One of the nose pads ripped and I was having a hard time finding replacements since they are a different size than most glasses. Since I moved from NY to NH, there are no AD for Lindberg near me.I called up to ask for help in finding these, if they could put me in touch with service or if they could even sell me a few and mail them to me. The woman on the phone was very rude, she didnt even try to act nice and told me shed take my number and have someone call me back. Nobody called me back.I had gone back in to get my wife contacts and they were having a car salesman styled back and forth with a customer. I feel like I overpaid significantly for my glasses since I didnt try to bargain with them.If I still lived in the area I would not go back here again.
I purchassed a pair of Cartier glasses from this place valued at @ $1000.00. I came in the other day with my glasses broken. The lady behind the counter said she would call the company and she told them I stepped on my glasses which I didnt. Then she said my purchase was over 2 years ago and I would have to buy new ones. The company couldnt fix them. Later I called the company and they said take the to another place and they would be glad to fix them. Dont go there.
Went to store in bayside bay terrace. Had to fix lenses twice and still not correct. When all said and done, paid over 1,200.Stay away. Horrible service. On top of this, they wont give me results of my eye exam because its over a year old. They want me to come in. Never again.
Been waiting on contact lenses for OVER a month... I dont own eyeglasses (maybe I should!!) so IT IS VERY IMPERATIVE that I have these in ASAP... and the Dr KNEW this!! I am now without anything and they dont have my prescription in stock... They said MAYBE in a few days!!! Losing $$ from work... and headaches UP THE A##!! DONT go to THEM!!!
Everything about this place is horrible, and most importantly staff .They misguide and give wrong information about your coverage plan, so you feel embarrassed infront of other customers and end up in buying out of your plan.At first I believed that my insurance is horrible and doesnt cover anything but when called my insurance it was a completely different scenario!! I would never suggest this place to even to my enemies and have personally updated my insurance about this provider.

2022-08-15This was a great Cohens Fashion Optical.I was at a few other stores and this one had the nicest employees and service.Cara and Carmen were behind the counter and had the best customer service.After I had a quick exam by the doctor I found a marvelous pair of black framed glasses that I just odored.Previous places if I got glasses that fit in my plans coverage I had to settle for glasses that maybe were worn in a back office where they never had to deal with the public.That said these glasses rock are just the style and type of frames I love..I recommend this place which is located in the convenient Bay Terrace Shopping Center

2022-06-16Very aggressive sales staff. Pushy and a very unpleasant experience all around. The optician was the worst optician Ive ever met with. Staggeringly bad. Then they sold me a pair of glasses that was much more expensive than I had originally agreed to pay. I canceled the purchase (within 5 minutes - so the glasses werent modified in anyway) and they accepted my cancelation. They even left me a voice mail saying they would credit me the amount. Then they tried to charge my credit card - unbelievable! Please look at all the other reviews...the bad reviews are all consistent...the good reviews are vague and generic. I will also be informing the BBB of this companys behavior.

2022-05-20Carmen is absolutely fabulous and is very attentive. She remembers her customers and is very personable. The fact that she takes her time to assure a customer of fit, size and look of a product, is worth coming to the Bay Terrace location. Well worth the travel!!

2022-05-09I don’t understand why this place is getting bad reviews !!I bought my glasses here 7 months ago and the ladies were all lovely & patient and told me their opinions on how all the glasses looked on me .They didn’t push me to spend on any expensive frames - I found them all wonderful .I went back this morning & I found the same thing… the lady helping me was lovely and we also could have a laugh while we were looking at glasses .Keep up the good work ladies 😀

2022-08-09My experience in the Cohen Bayside store was GREAT!!..Carmen Sharon Kelly Louis and The Dr that did my exam all were extremly patient with me and answerd all my questions.I had a exam and had to come back twice for help and i had the best of it !.. so i had to get a less reader script.Carmen told me to go lil lesser and i did.There customer service is great!.. and the glasses and lenses were affordable !Cohens Bayside Crew TY!! And so much... great to have my eyes in your hand!Robert Guthrie
