I’m an outspoken critic against US education. Columbia, Ivy League, and all of prestigious universities are supposed to make promising careers for all students. These students were supposed to have a successful future. This turned out to be a myth.Ivy League are nothing but corrupt institutes that drove students to insanity. They don’t care about student problems. All they do to is to get away from suicides; they do this to protect their image.I’m not discouraging people from attending Columbia. I’m convincing them not to apply unless they have outstanding records in school marks, SATs and extra activities. Also they have to be confident at handling rigourous course work. This is not a joke.
Beautiful campus. Walking around the neighborhood (Morningside Heights) you will find many other schools affilitlated with Columbia University. Its worth the visit.

Columbia University is among the top in the US, with scholars and students coming in from all over the world. Their main campus is on Broadway & 116 street. An impressive space with old buildings and a park in the middle. I havent studied here, but auditet some classes in music. They also give concerts and arranger public lectures by famous speakers.

Quiet over the Christmas break but nonetheless a great sight to see. Just being in a university of its statue was impressive enough but for them to leave building open to the public was a real treat. There wasnt much around in the way of food, or help getting around but the signage is more then enough.
Great campus with such an inviting ambiance. The buildings have the classic feel of Victorian architecture that is a common theme of many of the Ivy leagues.
A campus full of life, history and New York City vibrancy. Check out the various libraries, the science building and the performing arts building! Poetry readings happen at the basement of the chapel. And if you can find an entrance to the underground tunnels...

Beautiful and historical campus. In summer, the atmosphere is very good but most cafeterias are closed. So, people are forced to find food from outside.
Walked through on the way to a diner for breakfast. Couldnt find any classes to sit in on, but unlike *some* on here I believe this is a real university with degrees and everything and not a front for smuggling artifacts
One of the best University in the world. The campus is wonderful and located in a beautiful part of New York. Highly renowned in economy, banking, etc. It is now possible to enjoy online courses throughout Coursera website. It will give you the opportunity to enhance your skills, knowledge and earn a Certificate as well.
Always great to walk through on my way to and from work for over 18 plus years. Always clean. I am glad to see the college students back. I cross paths everyday with a future Doctor, Lawyer, possibly President of America or a big company, etc. I love to see the joy in the eyes of all the youth that are inspiring to be something of great worth to our society. 🙋🏾♀️🤗
Visiting Columbia for the first time. Really blown away by the beautiful buildings... Too bad all the libraries require valid student ID to access.
Such a beautiful campus to walk around. Obviously the school is well known for their high standards in academics. I suggest anyone wanting to attend school here schedule a tour through the school, staff is very helpful and informative.
This college is so beautiful, Education here is excellent. The professors really care about your success in class and outside of school. Staffs are friendly and attentive. Atmosphere is cozy and good place to study. Lots od stuff to do when not studying like clubs and other activities. Overall great school for anyone.

Well i have done temp work for an agency at this school so far.so good but one thing when it has wvents its crazy crowded with students. But other than that it has a nice campus. Very gd place for photos and stuff just have to come check it out when you have a chance. When i get chance see if get some nice photos.

I always wanted attend Columbia University . When I was younger I lived very close to the College . Now my son is in College. Almost on his last year he made the Dean List twice in one year , hopefully he will go straight to Law School ,He want to be a Copyright Attorney . I told him if he attended Columbia University I will be a little Jealous but very very proud .

A premier research institution, Ivy League undergrad school, with many affiliated graduate programs. A particular jewel in the Columbia crown is the School of General Studies, where nontraditional students of all ages and backgrounds can, if theyve had a break in their studies, earn a world class undergraduate degree. As far as I know,Columbia leads the Ivy League in this area, and so through that route, 15% of the undergraduate students are military veterans, retired ballerinas, home schooled, rock stars -- anyone outstanding who left the well-trodden path of the meritocracy and went their own way. These folks (and Im one) bring a thirst and ambition, a creativity and life experience to the Columbia classroom that brings a lovely thrill to every study.
A historic Ivy League university doesnt need a visitors review. I just had seen pictures of friends who have studied or visited over the years and so wanted to see it at some point. Finally got a chance to do that while coming back home from NYC and we stopped for 20 minutes or so. I wanted my son to see it and it was a great feeling being there

I loved everyone I met in there. Students and staff are some of the greatest people I met in my life. Dealing with them taught me a lot about how to respect the differences between us and accept everybody equally regardless what they do or believe. Columbia University is a great, big and beautiful campus. Whenever I go to this University, I always admire the architecture of the buildings and the many art pieces such as the statue of the Lion in front of the Havemayer building. I also see many other people engaged in different activities such as playing music, games or just relaxing on the grass on the warm summer days. This campus has a good energy and it ambient just relaxed me.
Beautiful and huge campus. I had good memories as a student manymoons ago. It is one of the top tier university in the States and in NYC. It’s one of the Ivy league schools and one of the oldest academic institution in the country. They have the largest endowment in NY state. Acceptance rate is very, very competitive. Tuition is very, very expensive.

Columbia University has a special place in my heart. I used to be part of DDC (double discovery center, a summer program ) when I was in high school. It was a beautiful and challenging experience. I am thankful to columbia university for allowing this program to be taken place in the university. I am currently starting my PhD on research ans stat and I know that DDC was a milestone that allowed me to be here where I am today. Thank you

Columbia University is an oasis in the middle of upper-city Harlem. In fact, you hardly even feel like you’re in New York City while walking around on-campus. The buildings composing this long-standing outstanding institution are as historic as they’re aesthetic. The staff educating and researching here are the cream of the crop, enabling a competitive and ambitious academic atmosphere to take on contemporary forms of learning.
We went for a campus tour and I loved the campus. Although it was cold and snowing, the snow on the trees was lovely and the buildings looked so majestic. I liked that the campus was like its own world...when you enter the gates its almost like youre not in New York anymore. The tour was organized into small groups depending on what major you were interested in. The guides were friendly and knowledgeable and the presentation was very informative.

Absolutely beautiful campus thatll make you forget youre in the middle of NYC! The info session and campus tour were both really informative, enjoyable, and curated. The buildings all flow together and the old architecture is fascinating to behold.

Had the opportunity to visit with my daughter last week. I have lived in NYC years ago and had false expectations of being overwhelmed by a university in the big apple. I was so wrong. Columbia University feels as if its in its own beautiful bubble in a quieter neighborhood all its own with a great richness and diversity in its student body and seemingly very happy, proud, comfortable students all around. Beautiful buildings, out of a movie, with a sincere feeling of really genuine people moving about campus.
I only went one year, but the subjects are very complex, and the campus is too big and beautiful. I would like to go back 😊
The campus is small relative to the others Ive seen on the West Coast, but its still a beautiful little place. Its got a posh intellectual vibe, which makes sense considering the wealthy students who attend. Its up pretty far north (generally crime gets worse above 101 in Manhattan) so dont go wandering up past campus grounds.

Columbia offers an enriching and stimulating milieu. The students are thoughtful and curious. The profs are brilliant. The classes are challenging. And the intellectual vibe is radiant. The campus is a beautiful and majestic oasis within the greatest city in the world. In short, theres simply no place on earth that measures up.
Its an amazing university. You get both the city life and the seclusion of a college campus. Its a gorgeous place to visit and its even more beautiful when youre there around the winter. I recommend traveling and spending and afternoon in the upper west side area.

I met some of the best people I know here at this campus. It is not a cheap school, but it was worth every penny. If you are in town and want to spend an afternoon walking through a beautiful campus, this is the place for you.

I like Columbias campus, it is quite spacious and makes you feel as though you have entered a scholarly area, which is what I expect of college campuses. The great lawn is indeed great and the library has a wide range of scholarly journals. Columbia is pretty great with the amount of opportunities it has for its students. A draw back is the reputation and treatment it has of the surrounding communities it occupies.

An Ivy League school in arguably the best city in the world. If youre lucky enough to get accepted, you should go here. The campus is in the upper west side of Manhattan and looks pretty all year round.
Although its my alma mater, I did not set foot on Columbias campus. I was at St.Lukes. Dont trust this Google app 100%. Its good, but far from perfect -- errors all the time.

As its my Alma Mater, Im biased.Its a beautiful campus nestled in a rough neighborhood of Morningside Heights and definitely functions within its own distinct university bubble.Check out Butler Library and take a ride down the banisters or hit up college walk during spring to get a taste of rows of cherry blossoms. My favorite tradition is the tree lighting ceremony that happens every November.
Columbia University is a magical magical place! It is a great place to learn and a beautiful campus. If you are ever in the upper west side it is a great place to see. Low Library is at its center and draws a lot of attention and a lot of the students to its steps during the summers, hence why it is sometimes nicknamed the beach. In terms of the school, there are a ton of wonderful professors and if you want a really well rounded education and dont mind taking a lot of time learning all kinds of things then Columbia College is the place for you with its world famous core curriculum.

Columbia gives you an access to a great network, excellent professors, smart classmates, professional opportunities, and even Grade Non-Disclosure. There are two things that make Columbia stand out: New York City and finance classes/opportunities. I chose Columbia because it was a top 10 school and I wanted to live in NY mainly for personal reasons.There are a few other things that make Columbia excellent:(1) A surprising level of community, especially for a city school. (2) NYC. I really only thought about this from a personal perspective coming in but it is a helpful resource since every industry and almost every big company has offices in NY you can find time to meet with people from any industry or company you might be interested in without having to plan your whole day or week around it. I just dont see those kind of things being possible outside of NY.There are some downsides to Columbia though.(1) Business school is expensive and NYC is expensive, put them together and you end up paying a painful amount of money. (2)It is generally understood that our marketing professors aren’t very good. My core marketing class was painful and electives were generally taught by mediocre visiting professors – pretty disappointing when you see the industry legends teaching the finance courses.(3) The facilities are, for lack of a better word, poor.
The universities reputation for the treatment of black students or brown students is actually true. How can this be posible? No matter where or when, any university in the world has students from every corner of the world. Be careful people!!!Other than that, beautiful place.
I love Columbia University; Im currently an MFA student there. The area is very safe and has excellent security. The quad is surrounded by beautiful shops and cafes. It is accessible via the 1 on 116th street. The institution is spread out but it seems like the undergraduates are concentrated in the quad.
Scheduled a tour and info session, traveled from Midwest and were casually told the tour guides were busy with something else, so we would only get the info session. Beautiful campus revealed during self-guided tour, but felt like the info session portrayed how exclusive they are...i.e., we need them more than they need us. Daughter still interested, but liked much better how Barnard and NYU treated us.

One of the best universities in New York . The campus is very nice and big and you can get whatever you want around .In the nearby areas you can get restaurants, shops and pharmacies.The area is very safe , you can walk to three oclock in the morning without problems.

After getting her Masters at MIT, our daughter will begin a Ph.D program at Columbia in the fall of 2015. Weve seen pictures and the campus is beautiful, and her apartment is gorgeous. Were so proud!!

Because of Covid-19 Columbia opened up its grounds to the neighborhood and the baby I take care of and I had a wonderful couple of months playing on the grass and meeting new people from a distance.

I love Columbia. I was too scared to apply here early decision there, so I applied to Penn instead and I got in and am really happy cause it has a better campus. Still, Columbia is great and I want to go to grad school there.
Great school and really nice area I go here alot to participate in gigs and everyone seems nice. The school is big and the area is crowdy, but overall the area is cool and they have good food trucks around.
Interns or students coming to Columbia University:Okay, as a seasoned college student I understand dorm situations are never perfect and that there are a lot of problems student staff has to deal with. Its understandable that things happen. But never in my four years of college have I been treated so rudely, or seen a building with so many maintenance problems.Things I liked:1. Location- This place is safe and right next to the one train. Its a short ride to 42nd street station and many other attractions in NYC.2. Space of the dorms was amazing. I honestly wasnt expecting them to be that big or have two levels. Its nice to have room when sharing a place with 4 other girls.3. Campus itself is beautiful, wonderful layout and beautiful architecture.4. A lot of food options around campus, at a good price for NYC.5. Nice view from 12th floor and close to Central Park.Things I disliked:1. Staff was very rude. I get that the staff has a lot of people to deal with through out the day, but every shift I encountered had a bad attitude problem, this is the worst treatment Ive ever experienced as a student. My roommates also experienced this problem of constantly being yelled at and always getting attitude from clerks/guards.2. RA in charge of our hall was very slow to respond to problems or questions my roommates and I had. Also, my roommate and I had some mail coming in the day after turning in the mail key; our RA knew that we did (my other roommate had asked to keep the key until Friday), but we would have to get the key back later instead of giving it back a few days later. I decided to pick up our key, it should have taken five minutes or so to get. I emailed our RA and told her I would come pick it up, in which she replied that she had it. I went to the office she worked. Very rudely, she told me she was busy and made me wait around 15 minutes, just for the key. So I waited, only to discover that she forgot our key at her place. She told me to come back at 2pm. I did, and she left. Told me to come back at 3pm. Complete waste of my time for something that shouldnt have taken more than 30minutes to do total. Took 3 hours total.3. Washers and Dryers in basement rarely worked. You can ask anyone who used them, they were a hit or miss to use. I probably lost 10$ to those dryers. I had called the second week of my stay to report a problem to housekeeping, they were kind, but the problem was never fixed and to get my money back would have taken 2 weeks. Once, I used two different dryers in one night; they turned on, but my clothes were still soaked when finished and they had to dry in my room.4. Housing changed locks on door without notifying me or roommates. Apparently, our problem roommate had lost her key and did not tell anyone. Nothing was said from housing, or roommate about the issue. I had to wait an hour to get into my room and figure out what had made housing change locks. Not even an email to to let people know. Then, a week later they changed the locks again for the new semester. they messed up my key and another roommates keys, so we had to wait another day to get new ones that worked.5. Bathroom drain was disgusting. We had grey water build up in our tub when taking a shower; I mean up to my ankles of gross. Took two days for maintenance to fix.Overall, Im glad to have stayed somewhere that had central air and space between roommates. If youre coming to Columbia in NYC for school or interning, be forewarned that you will not get help for issues, and if you do, expect to wait a long time to get it. Hopefully, you wont experience the things my roommates and I experienced. We all had a share of problems here. It really is a beautiful campus and convenient place to stay, but I would not live in these dorms again.

I love visiting this magical place in New York, the library of Columbia University, it is a beautiful building that is worth contemplating for its majestic architecture that dates back to ancient times, if you are apacionado by this type of buildings is a highly recommended place visit.
My Dad was a Columbia alum. I love Columbias campus, and its beautiful, but I was more a fan of Yale overall (which I applied to both as an undergrad and got waitlisted and deferred and then again for grad school when I got in) although New Haven as a city is kind of blah. Although, Columbias location affords students all of NYCs resources, it somewhat whittles down what Columbia has in terms of a real campus though like all the Ivy League institutions, Columbia owns a significant amount of land and property in Morningside Heights. Columbia does have an impressive campus for being one of the two Ivy League universities located in New York (Cornell of course being the other, which has a spectacular campus up in Ithaca) but Columbias campus, while compared to other Manhattan campuses like Hunter, NYU or The New School is an actual campus with a sense of spatial design and beautiful beaux arts architecture.College Walk, Butler and the Low Memorial Libraries are all particularly beautiful. I went to college in Amherst, Massachusetts for my undergraduate degree, and then to The New School for my MFA. I was not Ivy league per se, though I did get into the Yale School of Drama as a grad student (got better fellowships/assistantships elsewhere though). The Ivy Leagues were definitely NOT for me, as I was more a fan of alternative forms of higher education and the Ivy League schools to me were more conservative and traditional. Yale and Brown as the more artsy Ivies tend to buck that trend a bit.Sometimes I do wish Id gone to Yale for graduate school, but the major issue was that they werent that financially generous. I think it was also because since my Father was an alum of Columbia (not Yale), while I was the the son of an Ivy League graduate, I myself wasnt one (they pay attention to factors like that). Plus, what family connections at each individual Ivy League institution you have (legacy applicants get preference in the admissions process). Therefore, I got into Yale Drama, BUT, was vastly underfunded comparative to the fact that, well its YALE -- its not like they couldnt afford to give me more money. Maybe if my Mother had been a Yale Alumna (rather than University of Chicago) things would have been different. However, that made me VERY attractive to all the other non-Ivy League grad schools that accepted me like The New School, NYU, Pratt, University of The Arts. etc....BECAUSE they were all competing with Yale for me as a grad student. So, it ended up being a great bargaining chip.

This school is a joke and waste of students money. Ive taken a few classes at Columbia and my experience has been very eye opening. The classes are interesting but the homework and exams are very poorly written by professors or TA who demonstrator their lack of understanding in certain subjects and complete ignorance in others. When confronted with proof of the correct answer they simple say you over thought the question. Please remain ignorant like us.Ive found MIT to be much more challenging and driven to provide true understanding and knowledge.I really feel sorry for students wasting their/parents money and receive a second rate education at an extremely high cost, not just in terms of money & money but at the expense of real knowledge.Most of the reviews Ive seen are by brainless idiots writing, reviews like Great Wifi, Beautiful campus, I had a great weekend thereSeriously, do your research before giving this school your time & money and risking your future.
Thats a must for every traveler to visit the campus, you can feel the vibes right in the heart of New York. Being an exchange student in the US, I wouldve loved to experience that university!
Its a fine college that needs to start teaching students in person instead of online very soon. Online education at in person prices is miserable.

I actually dont attend to Columbia, but after my G.E Im planning to do so. I was in NY last winter and I visited the campus and I love the environment and the vibe, this is the type of school I want to be apart of and be proud to say I graduated from Columbia! Hope to attend there soon.

I really liked the architecture of Columbia. You feel like you are in this small bubble in NYC since it isnt that loud and kind of quiet. I gave this rating based on the campus tour.
The recently hired Kathy Boudin who participated in an armed car robbery where a guard was killed. Education is the most important thing to get from a college, think about the crap that they will be filling the kids with. I wouldnt let my daughter go there for free.
Does not take complaints about sexual assault seriously. Women are now afraid of leaving their rooms because there is a rapist on the loose and there has been NO investigation launched against him. They only want money!
My experience as a graduate student at Columbias Journalism School may have been a little different than if I lived in the dorms in my late teens or early 20s. Nonetheless, the Morningside Heights campus is one of my favorite locations in all of New York City. There are beautiful quiet places to study, read and socialize. I love attending evening events and lectures throughout the campus, especially at the Roone Arledge Auditorium and the World Room at the Journalism School. I think I would have enjoyed learning more about Greek Life and attending campus parties if I had attended the school as an undergraduate.

I am a columbia alumni and i would just like to say Columbias institution has wonderful tile flooring in the girls bathroom. It really contrasts well with the mahogany shower curtains. The library books are well maintained, the pages are very crisp, and smell of a faint honey-dew lemon. I do not have a single complaint. All in all, Ive had had a pleasant experience. Theyre ColumbiAWESOME if i do say so myself.

My sister and her best friend graduated from Columbia University in New York City an excellent school for people of every persuasion from around the world. My sister has a graduate degree in art, French and nursing which she used at Memorial Sloan Kettering before she and her best friend began work at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Her friend teaches art history and French culture at Bard Graduate Center and is a curator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. My sister works as a professional artist for Patricia Phelps De Cisneros with her artwork on permanent display on New Yorks Central Park. Columbia insists that its students graduate with the confidence and skill to know that they will be successful and valuable members of society.

If you are not from United States you are going to feel like in a type of Hogwarts, it is a very pretty place, with an amazing library, and the atmosphere is really cool, and obviously it is close to NYC. The bad side is the cost, it is a very expensive university.

Great environment
Indoor track here killed me, but its a good track. The water fountain water (drinking water fountain, not ornamental fountain) didnt taste bad for public water.
I attended an ancient British University, but my daughter is a PhD candidate at the Columbia Engineering Fu Foundation SEAS. She attended Harvard SEAS for undergraduate, affording her an opportunity to compare the Cambridge Schools with Columbia. Columbia University admits students as smart as Harvard University. The difference she noted is that Columbia Faculty are more accessible to their undergraduates, and the 9 departments at the Columbia Engineering is like having a Caltech attached to a big Ivy league university. At the graduate level, Columbia does not fund its graduate students well, and you need an external funding source, unlike Harvard. The New York /Broadway effect is huge for both educational and reducing academic stress for Columbians. This combination of academic rigor and life experiences afforded by New York is educational in all the senses of the word !

2022-05-02The interchurch Center at Columbia University was spectacular. Just the right amount of space for an intimate Latin Jazz Orchestra. The acoustic can certainly be improved, but well worth it. I definitely recommend.

2021-09-26Beautiful campus in uppertown of Manhattan. Comparing with other school, Columbia University campus is small so you can finish the campus tour in 1-2 hours by foot. Currently under pandemic, you can not go to inside of the library. Also multiple tents are set up for students to use temporarily.

2022-07-01Columbia Universitys beautiful campus is in uppertown of Manhattan. There were some nice restaurants nearby and great choices for Japanese and Chinese cuisines. Havent gone back since the pandemic and fingers crossed they are still open.

2022-06-06The principal point of interest is the main courtyard. In the northern half, youll find the statue of the open-armed Alma Mater seated before the Low Memorial Library. On the easter end of College Walk is Hamilton Hall, a key site during the famous student uprising of 1968.

2021-05-30A historic Ivy League university doesnt need a visitors review. I just had seen pictures of friends who have studied or visited over the years and so wanted to see it at some point. Finally got a chance to do that while coming back home from NYC and we stopped for 20 minutes or so. I wanted my son to see it and it was a great feeling being there.
