So I purchased a new graphics card and ran into some problems with my gaming build. Brought my pc into computer answers and had it diagnosed, Jackson was a great help in figuring out the problem and possible solutions. They replaced the power supply and ordered me a new pc case, then transferred my computer to the new case and only charged me 2 hours of labor that would have taken me days. I was blown away with the final product and would recommend them to anyone. Update: just went back for a total upgrade on my old computer..Paulo took great care of me and had my entire computer upgraded and replaced in less than 48 hours. I highly recommend Paulo and computer andwers.
Chris from Computer Answers replaced the screen on my IPHONE 6+. He called as promised, to tell me he was 20 minutes from my house, arrived promptly and went right to work replacing my screen and was finished very quickly. Amazing that they actually send someone to your home to do the job...what an awesome service. Christ was very professional, friendly and well trained as a technician. He knew exactly how to approach the job and moved ahead without hesitation. I would use Computer Answers in the future without a doubt! Thank you for your amazing service.
Absolutely awful experience here. Some keys on my keyboard weren’t working and I took it in to the shop. They told me I had a virus that was causing it and just needed to run some software to fix it. They charged me about $85 and when I went home to use it, I realized that it fixed absolutely nothing (the keys still didn’t work) AND they cracked the casing on my laptop. I brought it back in for them to fix my keys that they didn’t fix and now also fix the casing on my computer that they broke. I brought it in on Saturday and they told me they would look at it on Sunday. I didn’t get a call about it at all so I called on THURSDAY. They said they haven’t even started on it yet. When they finally finished they told me they couldn’t fix the casing and that the keys now worked. They told me it would be $45. I was confused why they wanted me to pay for something that they didn’t fix in the first place as well as breaking a part of it. Of course I went home and they didn’t work again so for the second time they fixed nothing. This place is an absolute scam and I believe they should have refunded all of my money. Before this store I had a laptop with broken keys and after I now have a laptop with broken keys, a broken casing, $85 less in my pocket and some rude customer service. I will never be going back and will tell everyone how awful this place is. Anyone who reads this should do themselves a favor and go to any other store besides this one. Wish I could give this place 0 stars. Maybe the owner should focus more on his tobacco business that takes up half the computer shop rather than pretending to know something about the mess of computer parts he has cluttered around the store.
Our computer was in rough shape. It was running super slow and after two hours on the phone with some unknown company we decided we had to just bring it to a real person who could fix the problem. Computer Answers not only fixed our problem but our lap top now runs better than it did before we had any issues. It took a few days to fix but they were very good about calling me to keep me posted about what was going on. We really appreciated that!
Brought in a MAC to the Clifton Park location due to severe damage and was taken care extremely well by Michael. He went above and beyond what was necessary to help me out with my computer. He gave me numerous suggestions on how to fix it as well as a few great options to buy a new computer. We agreed on a new computer and I left extremely satisfied. Absolutely wonderful customer service. Happy customer right here!
Built my own PC recently, but it had immediate issues. I dropped it off with these guys, and by the next day they had diagnosed the problem. Charged me $65 for the work, and I think thats a pretty damn good deal.Would definitely recommend to anyone needing repairs and the like.
The only reason I gave four stars is because I did not actually use the service. However, I had a thumb drive with materials I was studying for an exam. The tech seemed knowledgeable and was honest about what could possibly be done. He gave me clear pricing based on if they were successful in recovering the data or not. I ultimately found someone who had another copy of the drive, so I did not need to have my copy repaired. I would definitely give this place a try for my computer or data recovery needs in the future. Thanks again.
Left a laptop for a 24-48 hour diagnostic related to screen flickering issues on a notebook. 3 days later, the machine had still not been looked at, and I was promised it would be checked out and that I would receive a call by the next day. At 2:30 PM the next day (4 days after intake for the diagnostic!), still no word. I went into the shop and the high school kid behind the counter looked up my ticket, told me I dont know why nobody has called you because the EXACT part that was required had been identified, and no attempt was made to contact me. Highly unprofessional atmosphere, and apparently incredibly unreliable. On a previous visit, they asked for hundreds of dollars for a simple plug-and-go installation of a solid state hard drive. 0/10 will never return to this place again.
I didnt think that my experience at Computer Answers was going to be as great as it was, but you cant really ask more from a locally owned shop where the owner is there all the time. I thought maybe I would buy a computer from Walmart or Best Buy, but you know what? Ive had terrible experiences from the bigger stores, where the people on the floor either sell me the wrong piece of equipment for my laptop, or they cant replace a defective charger cable without having to send it to the manufacturer. If you need service on your laptop, you damn well wont get it at Walmart, they have no idea how to help you if you get a virus on your computer, or you have a lot of data that you dont want to lose on a hard drive that doesnt want to load anymore. Ive had a few hard drives die on me in the past and sometimes there is nothing any repair shop can do to get it back, but these guys do a good job trying to find any way possible to get a machine back in working condition again. Best Buy doesnt even really do repairs anyway, every time I brought the laptop that I had bought from them in for service, they took over a month to get it back to me, AND charged me an arm and a leg even with the extra warranty coverage. Ever since I bought a computer from Computer Answers, Ive had very few problems, and the issues I have had with it, theyve managed to fix them without charging me a dime. These guys might not have millions of dollars worth of inventory, but their service is the best that Ive seen around, so good that theyre the only computer repair shop left in town. I dont know why these guys are giving them 1 star, because not once did I feel like I was being talked to like I was an idiot, and not once did they do a job that I didnt give them permission to do. These guys have a job to do, and theyre incredibly fair and quick about getting their customers service.5 stars, thank you Computer Answers.
Visited a couple times in the last couple years same PC 2X. Each time I needed to return to resolve the original issue (virus control). Both times they also convinced me to do a wipe...because it was easier on them. Meaning you have to reload all your preferences again.Virus repair = $150 bucks each and several return visits because each time a had another virus in 24 hours of use?? Also had to return 1x because they said it was ready and it was not and 1x because they never reloaded MS office after the wipe.Bought a laptop - good experience.Not bad I guess but I have to believe there is a higher quality service out there
I would never step foot in that place again! Bought a software program from them, salesman was nice, but when I went in later that day because it didnt work, original salesman wasnt there. Just wanted them to take a quick look at the computer to see if I did something wrong. They said they couldnt and I would have to leave the laptop with them. The way he was talking was as if the customer is stupid. I said there is nothing wrong with the computer, its the software I just purchased a few hours ago. I ask again if they could just take a quick look and they said they were too busy. Needless to say, I walked out. As I was walking out, now he starts to say he will take a look. Too late. They need to learn how to deal and talk to customers at that business.
Highly reccomend!!!!!! Had a problem with my Macbook and the staff walked me through everything option! Evin is extremely knowledgeable ! Very great customer service ! I never felt like they were trying to make money they made me feel like they wanted to truly help me !! Check it out ! I got a solid state hardrive and it is 15x faster then my old one !
The company should be renamed the IT Anonymous because that how he makes me feel. The employees do not go the extra mile for customer loyalty. I had a custom made PC with the Schnectady branch. The ssd dies only 2 yrs later and they charge me again for Windows operating system. I figured out I was paying for Windows again when they could just give it to me since I never got the product key the first time because its withheld. After stating this and finding its true the employee would not budge. Now I got a key after paying 100 bucks for somethings I shouldnt have. Maybe go to them for basic repair and diagnostic but they are expensive and unfriendly labor. Never visiting computer answers again.
Computer Answers is the best discovery I have made for working on any computer. I believe it was Mark who built a new computer for me to my specs about 3 years ago and I have been completely satisfied. Spouses lap top has been into the shop on multiple occaisions with good results. Diagnosis is FREE! Their prices are low. They are friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and work is done in a timely manner. You cant ask for more!They also accept old electronic equip for disposal!
You guys can say what you want about this place but this place is really fast. Kris knows what he is doing and i thought it would take a week to get my computer back no i got it in like a day if that. My computer is running really quick right now. This really means a lot because i can know edit and do everything i can on this computer. If it wasnt for Kris i wouldnt have this computer. So thank you once again. This is my number one spot. I understand if it costs $400 but understand people this is a business. Whatever the price is they do very good work.
It seems this place really has no interest in honestly helping customers. Seems like theyre just trying to squeeze every dime out of you possible. Ive brought two computers there, knowing one of the parts were bad, for a free diagnostic as they say. They told me over the phone, and confirmed at drop off, they have spare parts they can swap to, to find out which part in the computer you drop off to them is bad and this is a free service. They did work on my first computer that I did not authorize such as reapplying thermal paste which did not need to be done and over-charged me to get my computer back. The second time they told my mother its not worth fixing and recycled 6 completely working components and practically stole her computer. If you want honesty and the idea of your items being held hostage for a fee sounds insane, this place is not for you.
Called to ask if they carry new hardware for computers as well as the stuck that they have used and was told emphatically, Yes. Stopped in a few days later to check their stock and found nothing but piles of used hardware. The workers were friendly and did check through the piles for a part I wanted but to no avail. The shop was a mess and some glass counters (with merchandise in them) were blocked by pyramids of old cases and towers. The fact that the open space was a smoke shop and computer shop all in one area with no clear organization or separation was offputting and confusing. I did see them assembling a new computer but the clerk mentioned that it was a custom order. They seem very knowledgable but the retail space leaves much to be desired.
Dropped off 2 non functional motherboards of the same type for fun for the free diagnosis to see what was wrong with them. I was in no hurry to get them back as it wasnt an urgent matter.Fast forward almost a YEAR later after a handful of emails and phonecalls, each time telling me theyd get right back to me. Finally had enough and told them I wanted the motherboards back from NYC or wherever they said they sent it to to be diagnosed, a day or two later recieved an email that I could pick them up whenever.Went in to pick them up, they said they couldnt figure out what was wrong with them.Im 99% sure they werent sent anywhere or even taken out of the box to be examined. This was the first time I went there for anything, and will definitely be the last
Computer Answers at Clifton Park, NY is the worst place you can go for your laptop repair. They do a bad job, have terrible attitude, will recommend upgrades you dont need, and will charge insanely high prices . Quality of their work is dreadful. By the time they are done with your laptop, you would rather prefer to buy a new one, than bang your head against the fixed laptop. Avoid this place at all costs. You are better off going to Geek Squad; they have integrity and know what they are doing.
I was going to Las Vegas and my laptop battery was dead, Needed to do work on the Plane and was really very worried, I brought the laptop in and they were going to have to order a new one. The technician took the time and found me a good working used one and installed it. I can now go on vacation and not worry! Thank you much Kevin... I have no idea what i would have done without your help!
I decided to take apart my computer at home to try and fix a fan issue. When I tried to put it back together I couldnt get it to turn on. Computer Answers took it apart and gave me a diagnostic report for free. They fixed what Id done wrong, and then found the reason my computer had been running so slowly -- a fried motherboard.They were very honest both about the cost, and on the fact that giving up on this computer and getting a new one and getting a new computer were probably going to cost about the same -- even though they dont sell new computers and Id likely have ended up buying a new one from a completely different place. I ended up trading in the old laptop and picking up a refurbished one from them. Very helpful in walking me through the computers they had, and in helping me select one that was best suited towards the sort of things I tend to use computers for. Would definitely recommend them to anyone in the area.
Wow - Duane stayed well past closing time, tried everything to first save the unbacked-up data, and then to get the computer (MacBook Air) working (coffee spill on the keyboard). I think most computer places (especially as most are overwhelmed these days with everyone working/going to school remotely) would have given up much earlier in the game. He saved the data! He saved the laptop! He saved me hundreds of dollars, missed days of work! He saved the day! Need I say more?
This place was a nightmare like walking into a Twilight Zone episode. I was told free diagnosis two days on my laptop. A week later I call to see whats going on. A guy answers the phone hello doesnt identify the business (an aggravated voice). Ask about my laptop he looks in the system and it says hasnt been look at but I know it has Ill call you back in 15. No call back!3 days later I call, answer no it hasnt been looked at Ill call you back. 9:30 that night he calls me back and rattled off 5 or6 things that I know nothing about $350.00. I just needed my laptop linked to my printer that lost its connection after Windows 10 came down.A no thanks moment!!Tell the story to my sister and her grandson (22) fixed it in 20 minutes.In the beginning ordered a battery told 1 week 3 weeks later got my battery. Asked employee if it was locally owned or a franchise deal. I dont know I just fix computers. I think his name was Rod Sterling.
Pathetic service! Rude staff who know nothing. All they care about is selling products you dont need. Mike is incapable of even diagnosing the issue let alone resolving the problem. To fix my wifi issue, Im having to visit their store five times; to top it all theyve uninstalled MS Office and are now struggling to have that reinstalled. Stay away from this place.
Ive had a few problems with my computer since it was hacked, and the techs at Computer Answers have been great at solving my problems and teaching me a bit more about how to do more with my computer. Ive had problems with a Windows 10 glitch, and Brandon has been a great help!
DONT know how to feel gave them my ps4 to fix and they couldnt fix it so they sent it somewhere else to fix , it wasnt a hard fix it was just a loose power port ( where you plug in the power chord), and then they said it will take a week and a half and its been 2 weeks and a half so an extra week so far and havent gotten it back yet.(edit) still havent gotten it back yet
Was sold a piece that the guy later admitted to knowing was going to break and then would NOT reimburse me with cash OR IN STORE CREDIT. Worst smoke shop/computer shop I have EVER been to and i have been to thousands. IN STATE, OR OUT OF STATE . THESE GUYS ARE THE WORST, HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!
My fan has been dying for the second time within 3 months (first time half-ass fixed by Omnis Computers in Schenectady, and Danielle was right there for chat on the web site, gave me GREAT service by calling Brandon at the Halfmoon store. By 3 pm, I was in the store and part ordered, getting it in a week - even with Thanksgiving 2 days away. When Omnis fixed it, the part came on the slow boat from ..guess where.. CHINA.. Brandons store is my new go-to store for IT everything..
Brought in my laptop to have charging port repaired.they updated my laptop with out my permission and now my volume does not work, they wired my wireless card backwards,and when I took it back, The tech became frustrated and told me it was taking to long and I would have to create new repair ticket.mind you I paid $160.00 just to fix my charging port.Again he loaded a driver for my volume controll and it is very unstable.Also they left Dell XP Perfessional disc in my drive.I dont own a Dell.

2022-05-20The guys here are awesom and very acomidating. They took my brand new Note 22 and replaced the screen and didnt over charge me in fact it was beyond reasonable. He actually came in on his day off to do it so give this place a shot, you will be glad you did. They also sell used computers that have been supercharged LOL at good prices and if thats not enough they even have a head shop attached which has cool stuff. Tell them Rick sent you.

2021-03-10Stay away from Computer Answers. In short, requested a custom built desktop with specific components including discs, brands, processor, etc. Agreed on price. I requested a written proposal with all discussed components listed to include models, speeds, capacities, type and generation of processor, etc.They proceeded to complete project without proving list of components. At pickup, I requested more info than listed on invoice and I was told he had to look for it. No problem with that.Paid for it, took it home and when I went to connect it, I noticed dirt on the power supply fan. Proceeded to open case only to find more dirt on mother board, cooling fan, graphics card and on the bottom of the case. The two discs were 2.5 in attached to the housing with Velcro. Not kidding! I have pictures. Requested refund and they refused, owner not responding despite four telephone messages in three different stores and emails to both personal email and business email.I know they have a non-refund policy but my contention is they did not delivered the promised product. Have filed complaint with BBB, warning you guys here. Will move on to contacting Google Business, Yelp, other social media sites. Small claims is not out of consideration except Courts are not hearing this type of cases.Pavel, if you are reading this, you might wanna reach out.Will not return and strongly urge you to go somewhere else for your computer repairs.

2021-10-22Brought a computer there at the beginning of August. Told them no rush as we were going out of town for a couple of weeks and would be back at the beginning of September. We come back and hear nothing, and when calling only heard that they had ordered the part and it had just arrived. Another two weeks pass and we call again only to find out that the person who had been working on our computer had been fired and that they didnt know what was wrong with our computer. Apparently the part that was ordered was incorrect, so they needed to order another part. Another three weeks later and now, after nearly three months of them having our computer we go to pick it up, only to find out that we would have to pay for not only for the mistake part but the replacement as well. The computer was returned to us in working condition, but the part that cost almost double that was originall quoted was scratched and dirty and the computer case was dirty as well. The computer is in worse condition than it was when we brought it to them. Do not go here.

2021-10-22Going into their store I was very worried that I would have to buy another new computer. There were 3 employees in the shop including the manager. All of them were friendly and knowledgeable. Your employee, Idress, helped me for 40 minutes without charging me and found it was the keybord, which I bought. 2021-09-07Left not feeling comfortable with explanations of repair expense.In Response to the response. Not so. #1Was told my cpu screen could NOT be replaced w/o being cracked. #2 Was told there was NO hard drive in this MS Surface but yet he handed it to me when I requested it at finish. #3 Wanted my parts back but said the screen was trashed and in dumpster and was picked up today but return misc others???. In previous conversation this person mentioned he OWNED the EXACT same unit. NOW WHAT DO YOU REALLY THINK I WAS FEELING ????07/07/21In response to the intern suggestion.I spoke with a person that was WELL versed in SALES & REPAIRS. I wonder if his part time job was selling used cars? No names here if you notice but after watching You Tube on screen removal and hard drive models for my Microsoft Surface and getting handed back parts and a hard drive, that interns Surface, who ever he/she may be, might be running quite smoothly.

2020-03-07My experience with this computer installation/repair was terrific. Theo was right on time and completed every task to perfection, including creating a home network, finding a driver to enable my very old scanner to work and just, in general, making sure everything was taken care of. Btw, when you call this company on the phone, you will likely be able to speak to a human, not a recording. The person with whom I spoke was professional and reassuring, giving me confidence in who they are.You will not be disappointed in the service of this company.

2018-03-22I had a cracked iPhone 7+ screen and Dwayne came to service it for me. I was expecting a very quick and routine visit which is what I got and then some. He was obviously very passionate about his role in the company and expressed a wealth of knowledge regarding the products that they sell and service. We managed to have a thoughtful conversation AND get the repair done in about 45 minutes. It was nice to have genuine customer service at my doorstep and would recommend this company to any of my friends who need any type of tech repair.

2020-09-13The hard drive on my Dell desktop crashed and the staff at Computer Answers successfully recovered files that I had not yet had a chance to back up. They were knowledgeable, courteous and honest. I have no hesitation in recommending Computer Answers for any questions or issues you might have with your computer.

2019-05-30After dealing with BS from Dell and GeekSquad In the past I decided to look for a local shop near me and came across Computer Answers . I came an hour and half before the place closed down and Dwayne was very helpful with helping me replace a hard drive in my laptop. Not only did he try to help save me money, he cleaned the computer for me without asking and also did it in ONE HOUR. That’s shorter than the phone call I had with dell to trouble shoot and discuss my issue. I highly recommend this place, Dwayne was an awesome guy and did a terrific job . Thanks again man!
